Such a fun DJ
Conner and his team at Sounds by Design really made our wedding a party. We met with Conner a few times leading up to the wedding and he was able to get to know our thoughts when it came to the music and vibes for the night. His system of organizing the songs we chose was really awesome and there was a big crowd on the dance floor all night. We got many compliments on the music for the night. It was especially cool to see Conner having fun at the DJ booth too. We also did string lights and draping through the company and doing so made the room look so so good.

The Best DJ!
My husband and I hired Sound By Design for our wedding and they were great! We initially worked with Conner to talk through the contract and get everything locked in. I was very impressed with the communication and organization throughout the entire process, from signing the contract to our wedding day. We were given updates throughout the planning process, reminders for our scheduled payments, and they checked in with us a few times leading up to the wedding in case we had any questions. They use an app that you can upload all of the music that you want to play at your wedding including pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, spotlight dances, etc. We were also able to also put music in a "do not play" playlist. Having everything in the app was super convenient and helpful when mapping out our music for our day. Our DJ also helped provide playlist suggestions on Spotify for us to reference, which was great. We had a final meeting with our lead DJ, Ryan, who was awesome. We came away from our final meeting feeling really good about the music for the day and he walked us through all the logistics and answered all of our questions. On wedding day, Ryan was the best! He was super professional but also really fun at the same time. He kept the energy up during the reception and knew what to play to keep the crowd on the dance floor. We can't recommend Sound By Design enough!

An absolute blast
Conner was our wedding DJ, but also helped tremendously during the planning process, resulting in a stress-free process. He was professional, got to know us as people to understand the vibe we wanted, and hit it out of the park when accommodating our special requests. He curated our playlist into a good flow so the dance floor was never empty. Everyone had an absolute blast!

I would highly recommend using SBD to any couple getting married. We had Aidan as our lead DJ, and we cannot thank him enough! Throughout the night, he made sure we were taken care of and even grabbed drinks for us and our parents! Everyone at the wedding couldn't stop telling us how great he was. He also kept the dance floor full all night!

We danced the night away!
Our DJ was Mateo, and he was phenomenal. He ran the dance floor well, blending songs to help keep people out there. But he also set up the sound for the ceremony and dinner. There was no feedback on any of the mics. He timed my brides processional song perfectly so she could walk down the aisle to exactly what she dreamed of hearing. Thank you so much to SBD and I hope to use them again for future events!

Sound by Design, especially Trent, was a total game-changer for our wedding. They didn't just play music; they created an unforgettable experience. Trent and the team went above and beyond, from guiding our guests to making our photobooth a hit. Our wedding was beautiful and smooth, thanks to them. We were so impressed that they were able to keep the dance floor dancing all night - we're not usually dancers but we were on the dance floor every chance we got - they made it so (!) fun. Trent and the team listened to our ideas, plans, and preferences and ran with them, making everything so so easy for us. We felt like we just had to show up and enjoy. Wedding DJ
We love working working Sound by Design for our brunch wedding this July. Our pre-wedding planning with Conner was so easy, and he really made planning our music and extra details so stress free (especially planning it all out of state via zoom). Ryan and Miguel were fantastic DJ's, kept the flow of the ceremony and reception smooth, and kept the entire vibe super fun. Our guests raved about the music selection and the fun dance vibes! Music was one of our most important vendors for our wedding (and thing we cared the most about). The entire experience was so easy, and loved how organized everything was from start to finish, we felt so confident our wedding was in great hands. We were thrilled to work with Sound by Design and could not recommend them more, really one of the best vendors we worked with.

We loved trent & sbd!
If you’re searching for a wedding DJ, stop your search and book SBD! We had such a fantastic experience working with Trent and Rick. They were communicative, easy to talk to, and answered all of our questions leading up to our wedding day. Shortly before our big day, we had the opportunity to meet with Trent. He is so friendly, so cool, easy-going, and energetic - we absolutely loved working with him! When we changed a few of our songs last minute the week of the wedding, he was flexible and made sure of the changes. Trent played the PERFECT music - we asked to start the night with classic weddings, throw in a slow song or two, and then transition to college dance hits (reliving our best lives). We had the BEST time dancing with our friends and family because of Trent. Our college friends got reallllly into the dancing, our fun aunts and uncles were feeling it, and he even got our baby cousins on the dance floor. So, a million thanks to Trent and SBD for helping us have the best day ever! We can’t recommend him and the crew enough!

Dance floor was packed all night!
Sound by Design was one of the best decisions we made in the wedding process. Our original Sound by Design DJ was unable to play our wedding, but Rick Ehlert stepped in at the last minute to do our wedding and it was fantastic. From the cocktail music to the dinner music to the dancing, the music selection was perfect. The dance floor was packed the entire night as Rick was able to perfectly curate our vibe and the type of music our guests and us wanted to dance to! We have received so many compliments from our wedding guests about how good Rick’s music selection. Sound by Designs are true wedding professionals and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a DJ who can get a party started and keep it going!

Working with Max Dodge was a blast!
We were hesitant to go with a DJ for our fall 2022 wedding but decided it be a solid idea to go with a company that's local and reputable. Working with Sound by Design from start to finish was a treat. Communication was professional, there staff were very friendly and excited, and the ability to "create" the backbone of our wedding celebration playlist via their online portal was super cool.
Furthermore, we worked directly with Max Dodge who was our DJ...and he was awesome! Having gone to other weddings, oftentimes DJs can be tacky, annoying, fake, and too pushy...that's not the case at all with Max who is genuinely kind, was excited for us, and took time to meet with us in-person over a cup of coffee and learn about what our vision was for the day. He's got superb knowledge and taste in good music too! All said and done, we were so happy we picked Sound by Design and specifically Max to be spinning the tracks on our wedding day.

Sam and the SBD team did an excellent job for our MKE wedding. They truly nailed the energy we were looking for. Sam made multiple song edits and loops for our party/couple intro songs, first dance songs, etc., as well. We brought in a third party saxophonist for several songs and SBD were also able to build/incorporate background music for the saxophone portion. Open to feedback, made our our big ideas happen, shared insight where we needed it, communicated openly. Lighting was also excellent and catered specifically to our venue. Can't recommend this group enough.

Sound by design is the best
This is another vendor that we knew we wanted. We had been to a few weddings with them and loved their ability to keep everyone on the dance floor. They have a great panning process. We had a last minute DJ switch, but Jake was great! We had a planning meeting and he took what we gave him and made it even better! He kept checking in with us and kept the dance party going!

Sound by Design wasn’t even a question when it came to our DJ. First off, their talent is unmatched. Second off, they were hardwired into our venue & let me tell you, that made all the difference! Trent was our assigned DJ & he was the PERFECT fit for us. He played exactly what we needed at the perfect time & kept the crowd energized & dancing All. Night. Long. We literally had to kick people off the dance floor at midnight. We also added lighting upgrades per Rick’s recommendation for our space & it all was gorgeous.

Trent is the best.
Trent was hands down the best. He went above and beyond from the start, brainstorming unique ideas for the wedding party intros; helping us pick our first dance songs; made us feel so relaxed and casual throughout the wedding reception; and essentially held the whole event together as he kept us on track and running smoothly. All Around Wonderful Experience!
We had a wonderful experience with Trent as our lead DJ for our wedding. He and the other DJ were very attentive to what we asked and the style and mood we hoped for during different parts of the night. They nailed every aspect and captured the mood and style we hoped for! They were great at paying attention to what kept people on the dance floor and managing song requests. Honestly couldn’t be happier with Sound by Design!! They also handled our lighting package and our photo booth package, both of which looked beautiful and the photo booth was really fun! Originally we weren’t sure if we wanted to get the lighting package but off of Trent’s recommendation we decided to go ahead with it. It really elevated the look of the room, and added to the soft romantic feel!

The Sound by Design team was fantastic and so easy to work with. Our DJ Mateo kept the dance floor packed until the last song. Their process of matching DJs based on our music taste in their portal was super easy. One of the most asked questions after our wedding was what was the playlist we gave our DJ and we give all the credit to Mateo. Outstanding experience with SBD. Communcation and planning was excellent from the beginning. Andrew came ready to rock, read the room, and kept the dance floor packed. Work with SBD!
We strongly recommend working with SBD (especially Chris!) for your DJ needs. Chris was super friendly and met with us about a month before the wedding to discuss logistics. He was more than willing to play (or not play!) any songs we’d like, as well as improvise where we needed ideas. When it came to the big day itself, he was punctual, professional and always committed to keeping our night on track. He worked with our timeline and took great care to make sure speeches and specialty songs went smoothly. And when it came time to dance - he kept the party going! Our guests raved about how great our playlist was. I loved how he played older songs in the beginning of the set, and then closed with more popular songs. It was perfect, and we’re so happy we worked with him and the SBD team for our dream day.

Sound by Design was amazing to work with. Dylan was the absolute best DJ. Dylan read the crowd, mixed songs, and created the BEST atmosphere. Amazing and Accomodating
We had a flawless experience in working with the Sound by Design crew. Torie met us onsite at The Abbey to discuss photobooth and lighting. We also signed on for our videographer to be Films by Design. Then, about 50 days before our wedding our original DJ cancelled on us. I called Torie and he had a new DJ for us by the end of the day from the SBD crew. Trent was incredible, our guests loved the music, the photobooth, and how smoothly everything went. Flexible, good-vibes wedding DJ
Max from Sound by Design was the DJ for our wedding at Villa Filomena in Milwaukee. Both he and the team who onboarded us made sure they had every song and genre we were asking for (even obscure stuff like Brazilian zouk and random classical ballet waltzes). Fantastic attention to detail
Rick Ehlert was our fantastic DJ from Sound by Design for our long delayed wedding reception. He took our requests and interwove them into a playlist that flowed with the evening and kept guests dancing until the very end. Rick paid attention to all the little details such as adding some of our special request songs at key moments like a particular romantic favorite as we finally sat down to eat our cake together. High quality and well organized
So grateful to have used Sound by Design as our videographer, uplighting and photobooth vendor for our wedding. They were always responsive and professional. Our videographer was Tony and he and his second shooter did such an amazing job on our wedding video. The uplighting and custom monogram for our wedding, which totally transformed our venue from average to amazing. Our photobooth (with boxwood hedge rented through SBD) was such a hit. One tweak I would make to the boxwood hedge is lining the back of it to avoid light coming through if it backs up to a light source.

Successful COVID Wedding
We worked with Torie for our wedding on 7/11/20 and I cannot recommend him and the whole Sound by Design team enough. Not only were they more than accommodating with having to change our date and venue but made sure to take extra safety precautions at our wedding, like wearing a mask, all while playing the best music to keep our guests dancing all night. I didn’t know if anyone would even feel comfortable dancing but Torie played such great songs that it made everyone relax and have a great time.

Packed dance floor til the lights came on!
When we first began searching for a DJ for our wedding, one name kept coming up over and over: Sound by Design. From the first time we met with them, I understood why. They were so kind, easy to work with and professional. They answered my fiance's specific sound-design related questions and more than fulfilled his requests for certain types of speakers. Most importantly, our day of DJ, Nathan, kept the night flowing smoothly through cocktails, first dances, and speeches and rounding it out with a solid 3+ hours of a full dance floor. It was truly the most happy, fun day of our lives.

Made for a fun night!
Trent from Sound By Design did such an amazing job with our wedding! Meeting with him over the phone beforehand, he helped us plan out the schedule for the whole evening and then he executed wonderfully as an emcee. During the reception, every single song he played was a hit! The dance floor was packed with people (including the bride!) until the venue kicked us out. My husband and I could not be happier with our choice in using SBD for our 1/11/2030 wedding. Sound By Design did an impeccable job making the dance floor the place to be on our wedding day. Ray, our DJ for the evening, did an outstanding job at making sure the songs on our “do not play” list were skipped, and played every “must play” song on our list. My husband and I had high standards for our DJ, as we love music and dancing, and SBD nailed every aspect. We had specific preferences on music for the whole evening, and Ray made sure every preference was met. It was a party
We had the pleasure of working with Zach DeWitt at Birch as both our venue coordinator and DJ with Sound by Design. Birch is a great venue for a dance party. Since it's owned by the group that also owns Sound by Design, they were sure to design and wire the venue for great sound. Meetings before the wedding were so efficient since we worked with Zach, covering off on wedding details and DJ needs. Zach handled the set up for our ceremony, all the dinner music and kept the tunes going for dancing. Before the wedding, it was so easy to put songs on the "must play" or "do not play" list with their online portal, where you can also leave notes like "don't play before 11 pm." They had or were able to find every song we wanted. Zach put the songs together wonderfully so we could keep dancing all night. Six months later, we're still getting comments about how fun the reception was. Thanks to Zach and Sound by Design for helping us have such a great party to celebrate our wedding!

We worked with Max for our wedding who was amazing! He met with us prior to the wedding and we were able to discuss our vision for the wedding. Max was so fun throughout the night, even though our crowd wasn't big into dancing he still kept the party going! He would frequently come out onto the dance floor and dance with us and was always singing and dancing behind the booth, we loved it! SBD was awesome to work with and we were so lucky to have Max as our DJ, he truly made my fiancé and I feel special and was so chill and fun!!

The absolute best!
We used Sound By Design for both our DJ and Photo booth services for our wedding at Birch! Zach, our DJ, did an AMAZING job maintaining the flow of the evening as our MC for the night. He also did an INCREDIBLE job with the music during the dancing portion of our reception. The dance floor was packed all night long! Our guests also RAVED about the photo booth. It was so fun receiving the physical album of all the pictures, as well as we loved posting all the photos on Facebook for guests to see! I cannot recommend SBD enough!

Sound by Design is the DJ you need
SBD was so much fun from the beginning of the planning process. I felt like I was working with an expert and was excited that they were also able to do lighting for our beautiful venue (The Grain Exchange). The reception went perfectly and I felt our DJ Torie captured our taste in music while also playing a wide range of favorites for our guests. Our dance floor was packed all night long! My MOH also commented how thankful she was to the DJ for giving her a heads up before her speech and putting her at ease by giving her tips on how to hold the mic so everyone could hear her. I would definitely recommend Torie and his team at SBD!

Really made the wedding great!
We had Ben with Sound By Design and he was truly amazing! Before the wedding he was really on top of all our requests and was always available to talk about the things we wanted to happen on the day of
On the day of Ben really took our wedding to the next level. He played all of our requested songs, even though alot of them were custom requests and difficult to find. Unforgettable Night with Sound By Design
My husband and I got married on August 23rd, 2019, and we could not be happier with the suite of services Sound By Design provided us with for our special day. They came highly recommended from friends of ours as well as provided DJ services at my sister's wedding two years ago where they also did not disappoint (the dance floor was never once even close to being empty, and the bride and groom were happy to hear every song they asked for played).
For our wedding, we used SBD's DJ service, lighting, and photo booth, and each service made for an impeccable night. The lighting was perfectly placed to showcase the cream city brick in The Pritzlaff. The photo booth was a hit with everyone--young and old. We got to take a photo booth album home with us the very same night, complete with notes from guests, which allowed us to capture some of the funny/sweet moments that happened after the photographer left for the night. Our DJ, Nathan Moore, was so on top of every last detail both in our meetings and emails leading up to the event and in coordinating the logistics on the day of. He really listened to and understand our taste in music and played all of the songs we wanted to hear, while also paying attention to the crowd at the moment when discerning which song to play.
We both highly recommend Sound By Design for any event that requires any of the services they provide. The entire team is professional yet approachable, responsive in communication, and does everything they can to make sure the night is absolutely perfect for the bride and groom. Thank you to Nathan Moore and the entire SBD staff for playing a vital role in making our day run without a hitch and for providing the entertainment to keep the party going all night!

Sound by Design provided the DJ for our wedding this past weekend, and we could not have been happier! Trent and his assistant were awesome and professional, kept our timeline running smoothly, and kept the party on the dance floor all night! He was all around just a super nice guy and incredibly easy to work with. Overall, the company is super responsive, and we really appreciated their flexibility in meetings with us both in person and via telephone, since we are located fairly far out of town. I definitely would not hesitate to recommend them for any future event.

Best All in One DJ in Milwaukee
Sound By Design went above and beyond for us from day one. The SBD team held several meetings throughout our planning process in order to nail down all of the details. They did our cocktail hour and reception music, photo booth, uplights, and string bulb lighting. Their client music portal is a wonderful tool that we used to list all of our requests ahead of time, and our DJ Ray played all of them, no matter how obscure they were. We requested a unique first dance song where we wanted two songs seamlessly blended into one, and Ray did an incredible job! Our first dance was everything we wanted and imagined in one song that fit us perfectly. He read the crowd really well, and our dance floor was packed the whole night. He was a great MC, too, and was really fun to work with! We received so many compliments from our guests on the music selection and Ray's DJ-ing. The photobooth was so fun and busy all night. SBD provides props and a backdrop, so you don't have to buy your own (our florist provided our backdrop). Guests get a printed photo, and we received a scrapbook of the photos. They also sent us digital images of the photos for download. We requested the stringbulbs for our indoor venue a couple months before the wedding, and SBD made it happen in a way that was romantic and not obstructing anything with trellises. Ray and the SBD team made our day special, everything was perfect, and I am so glad we used them!

The Atrium
We worked with Ray over the weekend at the Atrium in Shorewood. He was nothing less than the best! He was so fun, enthusiastic, and helped really liven the party!
He sent out a link for song requests prior to the wedding and played every song we wanted! He even played one of the song my husband had wrote for our wedding day! He kept the party jumping and was such a good time, my friends and family would not leave the dance floor!

The best party!
We used Sound By Design for our past wedding for DJ and videography and we are SO glad to have had them be a part of our day! Max & Dylan were our DJs and they kept the party going all night long! So many people said how amazing their services were and how much fun they had dancing! We also heard how this is the most fun wedding they've ever been to (including their own)! Also, the online portal was so easy to work with and is such a good tool for adding in song requests.
Tony & his video team were truly amazing. They captured so much of the wedding day and were so much fun to talk with. My husband was not on board with a videographer as he didn't see the need for one, but SBD proved him otherwise. Couldn't have had a better experience!
Our DJ was Chris from Sound by Design. I could not have been happier with our reception music. We had an outdoor reception and with a threat of rain, he came prepared with back up plans and was willing to be super flexible and change from outdoor to indoor at a last minutes notice. We thankfully were able to go with the original plan and keep everything outdoors. Overjoyed!
We had the opportunity to work with Trent and Miguel at our wedding this last weekend. Trent met with us prior to the wedding and was very attentive to what we were looking for. Sound by Design uses a template that we filled in with song selections for the basics, such as processional, recessional, first dance, etc. We then gave Trent a handful of other songs we’d like to hear throughout the night and he filled in the rest. He did not disappoint! We received many compliments about our selection, and our guests were up and dancing all night. Trent was very enthusiastic throughout the night introducing different parts of the evening, especially during our grand march that required extra attention to detail. Professional, Prepared, FUN!!
My husband and I were so impressed with Sound By Design on our wedding day. We used their DJ and lighting services. Our DJ, Torie, was awesome. They provided services for the ceremony and reception. The music was perfect for the ceremony - was timed well and on point. At the reception people were dancing before dancing was even set to begin! The music was right on point with what we wanted for each part of the evening. We even gave Torie the difficult task of multiple mother-son dances which he tackled flawlessly and seamlessly integrated the songs. Every song we wanted was played, all names were pronounced correctly, and the dance floor was full all night. Fantastic Reception with Sound By Design!
We had a fantastic reception with Trent and Joe from Sound By Design. We live in New York and were planning a wedding in Madison - which wasn't an easy task. Two of our friends had Sound By Design as their wedding DJ's and we knew we wanted to follow in their footsteps. We had a great experience from start to finish with Sound by Design. Rick was great and it really seemed like he was paired with us according to our shared taste in music, which worked out well. No less than 10 people on the dance floor at a single moment!
We have nothing negative to say about Sound By Design. They were spectacular in every way! Our DJ was Ray and if we could give him more than 5 stars, we would! He was incredibly professional, responsive, and organized. He took what we wanted and made it into something that was even more perfect than we could have imagined. At no point were there less than 10 people on the dance floor during the reception. He played all of our "musts" while also reading the crowd very well and choosing the music to fit the vibe. He consistently checked in with us throughout the night, but it was brief and straightforward so we could keep him updated, but not waste too much time fussing over things that would get in the way of enjoying our wedding. We ended our wedding on Piano Man by Billy Joel. We kid you not, it was THE MOST perfect way to end our reception. It felt like a dream. Thanks, Ray!

True professionals and talent!
My husband and I used Sound by Design for uplighting and a projector at our wedding. Communication leading up to our event was top notch! They were prompt with their replies, friendly and confident in their work and abilities, which made us feel very comfortable going with them and their suggestions. Come the day, the crew that came in to set up was very friendly as well! They came up with a clever solution to help a vision we had about a video montage projected up on the wall come to life. And pin lights so our chefs at their stations wouldn’t get lost. Along with uplighting through the whole space to create a mood we were going for.
It all SHOULD have been perfect… and this is where my review gets tricky. I am not sure what happened or who should have been on top of these two things that unfortunately takes away from all the hard work SBD put in… the video montage was not set up on repeat, so after one time through (after about 30 min) there was a big blue square up on the wall for the remainder of the night. The video was supposed to be repeating for three hours until the end of the event. I didn’t notice right away and was way too busy and distracted to get my planners attention to get that fixed. The second, and this is a big one, is that the overhead lights never got turned off. The uplights were washed out and the room felt way too bright. We did not accomplish the mood we really wanted for our event. I unfortunately didn’t notice until the end of the night. And looking back at pictures, though beautiful, are so so bright. Breaks my heart, but hopefully this is one of those things that only my husband and I notice.

Danced all night long
My husband and I recently got married in November, 2018 in the northwest Chicago suburbs. When searching for our wedding vendors, my coworker suggested Sound By Design. When I looked them up, I saw nothing but positive reviews and a company that looked both professional and fun! We spoke to Tori on the phone and without hesitation, we booked SBD. From that point on, I would hear nothing but positive remarks from people who have used or knew of Sound by Design! I felt even more reassured that we chose the right vendor. Since we live in Chicago, we weren't able to go to WI often to meet with them. But I did have the chance to sit down with Dylan and I was SO surprised and happy to have met him. I felt even more excited about our upcoming wedding. Once we received our DJ assignment in Trent, we were able to talk to him further about the details and music selections for our big day. Wowwww I can go on and on about what a PERFECT night we had!!! I was somewhat particular about the different styles of music I wanted played between the cocktail hour, dinner, and reception dancing. Trent was very understanding and flexible to review my Spotify playlists. He NAILED it!!! The music was absolutely phenomenal and really set the tone throughout the night. I was so so so unbelievably happy with everything. On top of that, Trent was nothing but excited, positive, and professional throughout the night both as an MC and DJ. He would subtly and very nicely give people a heads up on their speeches (father of the bride, MOH, best man, etc.) and it really made the night run smoothly which is much appreciated. The dancing portion of the night was INSANE. People never left the dance floor!! This was a huge priority of ours for our wedding and it truly exceeded our expectations. My husband and I dominated the dance floor too and we couldn't have been happier. I know it can be hard to pick wedding vendors but this is one decision you shouldn't hesitate to make. Thank you SBD for pulling off our wedding dreams!!! We had the best night of our lives!

Wow! We and our guests were thrilled with Sound By Design-they kept the dance floor full all night.
Sound by Design was the perfect dj group and fit for our wedding day. The process from beginning to end was seamless. The team was easy to reach and super flexible regarding times to meet or chat on the phone. Our dj (Max) kept the dance floor full all night! Sound By Design made our night unforgettable
We used Sound by Design for DJ, Videography, lighting and Photo booth services, and they
went above and beyond to make sure our big day was the best it could possibly be! We had Zach as our DJ and he was extremely thorough, helpful, and fun to work with. He helped the day run smoothly from before the ceremony through the last song of the night, and kept the dance floor packed the whole time! Tony was our lead Videographer and he made us feel very comfortable, and encouraged us to just be us and the video will write itself! Him and his team were there for the entire day and didn’t miss a detail! The photo booth was a huge hit for all our guests, and the personalized album they created for us is an amazing keepsake of memories! Sound by Design also provided several different lighting options to help customize our day. They provided string bulb lighting over the bar, had uplighting on all the pillars, and even designed a custom monogram of our names/wedding date which was projected on the floor of the venue. They were really able to understand our wedding day vision, and execute each aspect! From start to finish, in each service we got from Sound by Design, they excelled and exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend them for all their services to help make your wedding as great as ours was!

We were very satisfied with Sound by Design and their DJ, Raymond. Highly recommend.
From planning to day if, they were easy to work with, very professional and put us at ease. I found their rates very reasonable as well. They have a great database of music you can use to build playlists and are great at suggestions as well.
Day of, Raymond and his partner were on time and flawless. I hardly noticed them during the ceremony, but they handled all AV. They were great at communicating during the evening and MC'ing the reception. Music and dancing went well. Raymond was fun and kept the party going.
Overall, highly recommend Raymond and Sound by Design.

They made our wedding reception wonderful. Rick Ehlert was very responsive to our specific requests regarding cocktail hour and dance music suggestions and I had many guests tell me it was the best music they had heard at a wedding. Sound by Design was amazing for our wedding! Our DJ, Rick, had everybody, young and old, on the dance floor until they turned the lights on at the end of the night. They were helpful throughout the entire wedding planning process, offering advice and recommendations for other vendors.
Rick did a great job playing our requested music, but also adjusting to the vibe of the room. We had a bunch of guests asking us who our DJ was so they could book them for their own events.
We also had a photo-booth through Sound by Design. Everybody loved it and there were a ton of people in there all night.

Rick Ehlert played an incredible role in our wedding this September at Cuvee in Milwaukee. Rick was incredibly responsive and very structured. Sound by Design has a process that works! They follow a script that relies on putting the customer first and learning about each couple's personality. They take notes, ask questions, and then make recommendations.
Rick was more than just our DJ, he was an outstanding wedding consultant that kept us on track, offered advice, talked about timing, and also gave us information on what to expect during the wedding process. He took the time to meet with our officiant before hand to go over the logistics, and was also very interactive with the wedding party. He didn't just hide behind the DJ booth, he was appropriately checking in and watched us for musical queues; he never played a song on our list until he saw us out on the dance floor and appropriately mixed in songs the entire crow would like.
During the reception, I received 5 different compliments on the music choice, volume, and guest mentioned it was "the best wedding playlist they have heard."
If you want more than just a DJ, if you want a consultant and a tremendous MC, if you want someone that has your best interests in mind, or if you want someone to help throw an awesome party - go with Sound by Design..... go with our guy Rick!
P.S.
Rick also killed the light game. The lights we appropriate and complimentary during the dinner, and then in tune with the music during the dancing. He lowered the lights during certain songs, then sent them dancing once the beat dropped. Solid work.
He wasn't just a wedding DJ, he was an instrumental

AMAZING!! Our DJ’s name was Trent and oh my god, he was amazing! He helped make sure things were moving along smoothly, he was energetic and got our guests excited for everything, and he kept people on the dance floor all night. The first song he played had almost everyone on the dance floor and that’s where people stayed. It was so much fun and we would highly recommend this company for any wedding!

My husband and I worked with Sound by Design for our wedding in July, and we could not have been happier. They were easy to communicate with from the beginning, and clearly laid out the pricing and the process right from the start. Rick served as our main DJ for the night of, and we absolutely loved working with him! He clearly gets to know the couples he works with prior to the event, and really thinks about every aspect of the music to ensure the vibe created the day of is exactly what we were looking for. He really walked through the entire timeline with us to make sure we could stay as stress-free as possible the day of, and helped to make sure things flowed incredibly smooth. The entire crew from Sound by Design, including our secondary DJ and photobooth attendant, was fantastic! We would not have done it any other way!

Sound by Design is without a doubt the best DJ company in Wisconsin. I first heard them at a friend's wedding and I immediately asked the DJ for his card because I just knew I had to have them at my own wedding. We hired them for our big day and we had the best dance party ever! They are extremely fun to work with and they make sure to match you with a DJ that fits your specific needs and music taste. Their music portal was easy to use and I was able to list some of my favorite songs that I wanted to hear and also let them know the songs I definitely did NOT want to hear! Our DJ was great about playing oldies/more classic songs at the beginning of the night and then slowly transitioning to more hip-hop/newer songs as the night wore on and younger crowd stuck around. They will definitely read the crowd and keep everyone dancing all night long! Our DJ was also helpful with mic setup and making sure everything was ready for the ceremony, speeches, etc. He even had some wonderful words of encouragement for my maid of honor when she let him know she was nervous to give her speech. Don't hesitate to hire them- they will make sure your wedding is a dance party to remember!

Sound by Design exceeded every expectation we had for our DJ and photo-booth. We were matched with DJ, Ben Wall, who continuously went out of his way to ensure all music and lighting matched our vision. He spent over an hour walking us through each important moment, literally, from the first moment our guests arrived to the final song of the evening. Their detailed timeline and questionnaire should be an industry standard and makes all of the difference. We loved his amazingly warm personality and how he instinctively knew what song to play next to keep the party going.
The photo booth, was open and inviting to all of our guests and the attendant created a heart-warming keepsake of all of the photos taken that I will forever cherish. Thank you so much for making our day perfect!

Sound By Design did a fantastic job DJ-ing our wedding! They did both our ceremony and reception music. We gave them fairly little direction (even giving them first dance songs the morning of the wedding), but they kept the dance floor full the entire night! We had several of our guests comment to us after that they were one of the best DJ's they've seen at a wedding.

We had Sound By Design DJ our wedding on April 28th at The Marq in De Pere and still have people telling us how much fun they were. Zach had the dance floor packed all night! They were very accommodating with everything we had asked them to do. Although they do have an online portal for you to submit your "Must Plays" and "Do not Plays," we pretty much left it up to Zach to feel out the crowd and do what he does best! I would highly recommend these guys to anybody looking for a DJ! So much fun!

My wife and I got married in December of this past year at Hubbard Park Lodge in Milwaukee...and the Sound by Design team exceeded our expectations in every way possible. We had the pleasure of working with Rick Ehlert as our main DJ. He was a wonderful communicator leading up to our wedding day, and on the actual day, he executed flawlessly. The music quality was amazing and the song selection was on-point. Our dance floor was packed until our very last song...and throughout the night, multiple guests approached us to tell us how fabulous the music and overall vibes were. Sound by Design is a first-class company in every way possible. The whole experience of working with them was a blast! During the planning process, they not only want to know your taste in music but they also want to get to know you as a couple. The only regret we have is not sharing this 5-star review at an earlier date! If any friends ask us for a DJ recommendation in the future, it’s Sound by Design or bust!

We do not have a SINGLE even close to negative thing to say about Sound by Design - they were flawless from start to finish, and kept our guests dancing all night long! It was a breeze to meet with them, discuss the theme for our wedding, and to discuss and add songs we wanted to hear. We are super glad to have chosen Sound by Design. We received Ray as our DJ, and he was was super friendly, easygoing, and organized - all of which made us feel at ease in preparing for the wedding and on the day of.
Music for ceremony ran super smoothly. Cocktail hour vibe was exactly what we wanted. Throughout and after dinner, Ray, along with our venue staff, kept us on track with the first dances, cutting cake, etc.. On the dance floor, Ray took our requests in mind while using his creativity and judgment to "read the room" and keep our dance floor packed throughout the night. He also made sure to check in occasionally with us and our close loved ones to make sure we were happy with everything.
We used the lighting kit that came with the DJ package - Ray checked in with me to make sure the color/set-up was what I wanted and quickly incorporated my suggestions.
Overall, kick-ass experience; I highly recommend!

I rarely give reviews let alone 5/5 but the team here, especially Max and his associate did an outstanding job! Max was thorough and gave insightful feedback during the intake meetings. Day of, we had crazy weather and called off the rain location last minute! Max and his associate were able to relocate and keep me informed without any issues or stress. During the day, Max kept me informed just the right amount to make the whole evening run smoothly. I cannot say enough kind things about Max and his professionalism. He was skilled and professional, but also was having fun which made all the guests feel those vibes. There was never exposed dance floor at our wedding because the jams kept on rollin'! Dancing has always been important to my family, and a dj can make or break a wedding. I don't know how you do it, but keep being awesome! Thank you for making our day so amazing!

Sound By Design and Raymond were awesome! Raymond was really easy to work with and made the process a lot of fun. We gave him some ideas for what we liked and he took over from there and the music was on point! Beyond a great ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner, our wedding is going down in history as a epic dance party thanks to Sound by Design and Raymond. Music was very important to us and couldn't have been happier.
We even had several guests tell us after the day how great they though the 'DJ' was and not just because of the good music, but because he was super friendly and fun.

Ray, with Sound by Design, was simply AMAZING! He could not play a wrong song the entire night - our whole venue turned into the dance floor! If you are looking for a DJ that knows how to please a very mixed generation crowd and get everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, on the dance floor than Ray is your guy! We worked with Nate and we could not have been happier. We had an absolute blast with him and his assistant and we got a plethora of compliments from guests about their professionalism. He made sure that everyone giving speeches was ready and comfortable, and the flow of the night was absolutely perfect. Nate and his assistant had amazing chemistry and you couldn't help but dance with the music he was playing. He read the crowd perfectly and made sure that not only were the songs we requested played, but he made sure that he played a little bit of everything for every age group in attendance. Josh and Torie were great to work with throughout the entire process of wedding planning. They played music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and of course our reception. We also splurged for some extra up lighting and it looked great and really set the ambience for the night. I always think the best indicator of a good DJ is when your entire wedding cannot stop dancing the night away and that's just what happened. Torie read the room, played the BEST music to get everyone pumped, and everyone had the best time because of it. I highly recommend using them, they will not disappoint!
