Couldn't be happier!

Carmen from Something You did a phenomenal job on hair and makeup for both me and my bridal party (flower girl, too!). She made me feel as beautiful as I could have imagined on my wedding day, and took the time to tweak my hair and makeup as I wanted at both my trial and wedding. She was ready to go when we got to the ceremony location the morning of, and had everyone's hair and makeup done on time. The salon itself is wonderful, and I have started going there for other services! Amanda was also a great help with contracting and scheduling - very responsive!

So impressed!

Something you did an amazing job on my bridal hair and makeup as well as all of my bridesmaids! We got so many compliments and they made us all feel confident and beautiful. Janie, Carmen, and Kelsey all paid attention to every little detail and our hair and makeup lasted all day and throughout the night!

Amazing Experience

I have never been one to do much with my hair, so I didn't really know where to start when looking for a bridal stylist. I took to Google, read a few reviews, and decided to go with Something You Salon & Spa. I set up my trial appointment with Amanda and went in with some styles in mind. Lucky for me, Amanda specializes in curly hair and knew exactly which styles would work for me and which wouldn't. She was patient and easy to work with and I left my trial feeling confident with my style choice.
Amanda traveled to the I Hotel, was on time, and ready to go when we were. Everyone's hair looked perfect and I loved mine more on my wedding day than after my trial. Amanda did an amazing job with all of the girls and was so easy to work with. She is professional and definitely knows what she is doing. I would highly recommend Something You Salon & Spa to any bride!

Amanda - the Hair Guru

I have been seeing Amanda for my hair for 5+ years now and followed her when she opened Something You Salon in Champaign. Right after I got engaged, 1.5 years before our wedding, I asked Amanda if she would do my hair. She said yes and of course stuck to her word, even though it required her to travel way out of her limits for me. She styled my 3 bridesmaids hair, my mother in law, my Mother, my Nana, and my Aunt. EVERYONE loved their hair, especially me and my Mother (who has super thick, gorgeous hair but is hard to please). As always, Amanda exceeded expectations and was an absolute joy to have with us on my wedding day. She makes every room brighter and is always calm, cool, and collected, and fabulous at what she does. I adore you Amanda and am so grateful for you and the way you made me feel like a queen on my wedding day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Working with this salon was a wonderful experience. I did a trial a few weeks before the wedding. I was able to talk through some ideas with my stylist. She was very understanding of what I wanted. We were able to communicate very well. The day of the event, she was able to keep us on time. She executed my hair and makeup EXACTLY how I wanted. She did hair and makeup for my Maid of Honor and makeup for my Mother without having met them before just as wonderfully. I loved my experience and would definitely work with them again.

Amanda did my hair and makeup for my wedding and it was absolutely perfect! Her personality made her such a pleasure to work with and she was very accommodating for my small wedding. Would definitely recommend!

Amanda and her team at Something You Salon were absolutely wonderful on my wedding day and the day leading up to it. I had a few facials with Michelle and she made sure that my skin was in tip top shape. I met with Amanda for my hair and make up trial. I showed her. A picture of what I wanted and she exceeded my expectations. I’ve never felt more beautiful than I did that day. I highly recommend the girls at something you, they will not disappoint you.

Carmen did a great job on my hair and makeup for my wedding! I love love to look at my photos! I felt so beautiful & got so many compliments on both hair and makeup. She was polite, professional, and so fun to be around! She was also very accommodating to my mom, who typically doesn’t like makeup. She tweaked and adjusted my moms makeup as many times as she asked her to, without complaining or seeming annoyed at all. She truly wanted everyone to look & feel as beautiful as possible! I could not recommend her or the salon as a whole enough!! Thank you so much!

I am SO happy with the experience with Amanda for our wedding day! Everyone loved their hair, she was easy to work with, kept in close contact, offered a great dry run of my bridal up-do, and just generally was awesome. Amanda came on-site for our wedding at the Allerton in Monticello and went with the flow even though the room we were in for hair wasn't ideal. Thanks for everything!!

Amanda and Lauren are totally the A-team! I hired them for on-site hair/makeup services for my wedding, and they were so great to work with. I had my trial with both of them at Amanda's salon, and it was a wonderful experience. They listened to my vision for my wedding day look, and helped give their professional opinions about how to bring it to life. Both ladies were friendly, fun, and phenomenal at what they do! I've never looked and felt more beautiful, and they did an incredible job making everyone in my wedding look and feel fabulous!

I had Amanda and Lauren as the hair stylist and make-up artists for my wedding party and I am so happy with the job done!

First, the fact that they traveled to me was so convenient and helpful! Both were extremely prompt and set up prior to me arriving.

Amanda is super friendly and easy to work with. She did 8 different hairstyles in a very efficient time frame and all styles looked amazing and held up throughout the entire day. Amanda was easy to communicate with - from our first contact to the trial and to the day of the wedding! My hair was absolutely flawless and despite the long day, humidity, and lots of dancing my hair looked just as good at the end of the night.

Lauren also is super friendly and easy to work with. She did four people that day and again it was super for efficient. Everyone's make-up looked timeless and very natural. Lauren also did a trial and worked to make sure I got the look I wanted.

I am so happy this is who did my wedding. I would recommend them to anyone for their wedding or every day needs!

I myself will definitely be returning to Something You Salon & Spa in the future.

I love Amanda! After my hair trial and my mom's makeup trial, I knew we'd be in good hands for my wedding. She did an absolutely fabulous job on my bridesmaids as well, and we all looked gorgeous (if I do say so myself!) She's got hair and makeup DOWN, I can't recommend anyone better in the area. She's also really sweet, and definitely the kind of energy you want to be around on your wedding day - she's calm, because she's got this. My mom and I just love her. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.

Nothing but amazing things to say about Amanda. Not only is she incredibly talented as a stylist, artist, and business owner but she is truly a wonderful person. Amanda is insanely creative, passionate and driven. Her work, whether it be coloring, cutting, styling, or make up is consistently done with her clients needs/wants in mind. All of her work is beautiful and flawless. Again, whatever you are wanting she can make it happen, she can do it all. Amanda is the most kind hearted person and has such an abundance of knowledge in the industry. Something You Salon and Spa is a cozy, comfortable, upscale Aveda salon in Champaign and I highly recommend. Everyone in the salon are so gracious and do amazing work. They are such a great team! Amanda also does on site wedding hair and make up and I was fortunate to have her for my day! She made me looks absolutely stunning and I can't thank her enough! Thank You Amanda! You're the best!

Amanda and Lauren were great to work with. It was such a relief to not have to travel around town for hair and makeup on my wedding day. It was very easy to communicate via e-mail and the value was great. I've never felt more beautiful than I did on my wedding day.

Amanda and her team made the event! We had a super fun, "girls party", getting dressed, complete with people coming and going, moving locations (upstairs and downstairs). The entire time, Amanda, just kept doing hair. She was even able to fit in three additional appointments we had not planned for. I cannot say enough about her professionalism, totally laid back but also did an AMAZING job. Some of us came in knowing exactly what we wanted, she re-created it, some had no idea, she created something beautiful. She can work with the most specific to the least specific. I strongly recommend her to anyone!

Amanda was absolutely wonderful to work with!! It made a huge difference on my wedding day to have her come to my house the morning of my wedding to do my hair, along with some of my bridesmaids hair! I felt a lot more relaxed and knew I would not have to worry about my hair because Amanda is awesome at what she does! I had compliments all day and then again when we got our pictures! :)

I got my wedding hair done with Amanda, and it was so great! I gave her pictures of what I wanted, and she made my hair so beautiful! My hair is also naturally very straight and doesn't curl well. I don't know what she did but my curls lasted all night long! Highly recommend!

Something You Salon and Spa did an amazing job with hair and makeup for my wedding in July 2016. I have thick curly hair and was very concerned about my outside ceremony in the middle of July. Amanda reassured me she would do everything she could to keep my hair looking nice and she did! I absolutely loved how my hair turned out. It was beautiful. For makeup I wanted a more natural look and Lauren listened to what I wanted and it looked amazing. She was also very flexible and accommodating with me to make sure I had a makeup trial. On the day of the wedding, the makeup lasted all day even though the heat index was 110. Amanda and Lauren were able to make all 8 of my bridesmaids happy and beautiful all the while talking and laughing along with us as we got ready. I could not have asked for a more professional and talented salon!

I was very pleased with my bridal hair and makeup. It was on the pricier side for central Illinois but everyone was happy with the end result. We almost had a big mishap as she forgot to update my paperwork on who all wanted hair and makeup done. But thankfully she was still able to stay long enough to get everyone completed. Would definitely recommend!

Amanda was such a pleasure to work with! She really knew what she was doing and for someone (me) that doesn't wear a lot of make-up explained what she was putting on and why. My four bridesmaids and I all got our make-up done for the wedding and we actually got to be one of the first to use her new airbrush technique and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. I didn't feel like I had tons of make-up on and it looked so natural. It may seem like an extra expense but for such a big day it was well worth the cost. I went all day with many crying moments and getting all hot and sweaty from dancing but still felt pretty by the end of the night when I washed my face. The best part was that it actually came of pretty easily with my make-up removing face wash.

It's a little pricey but definitely worth it! The whole atmosphere of the salon is relaxing and luxurious. Janie got my hair ready in advance and was super easy to plan my trial with that would work well with my date. Carmen did my make up and both did an AMAZING job. I couldn't be more pleased with my hair and make up from my wedding!

$100 down the drain and unresponsive owner

I'm writing this more than a year after my wedding because it still bothers me immensely. I made an appointment to see what options there were to curl my waist long hair for my wedding -- the consultation was supposed to be complimentary. Somehow there was a miscommunication, and the stylist assigned to me curled my hair, did trial makeup, which I thought was weird at the time, and then charged me $100 when we were done. I was shocked, but late for another appointment, so I just got out of there as quickly as possible. My husband laughed at me when I got home because my hair and makeup didn't hold, he said my face looked like Michael Jackson. I called and emailed the owner to discuss the experience, but never heard back. Canceled the appointment for my wedding too after learning that would be an additional $100 for the same level of service, but still got a reminder call for it.
