Beautiful and Lasting Hair and Make-up

I loved the long-lasting, natural look that these professional artists provided my ladies on our wedding day. They did a great job for all of us. I loved that they came to us. That made our whole day flow so much better! I do not have enough words to say how wonderful, yet efficient our artists were! I'd definitely contract with them again!

Amazing!!!

From my trial to the actual day of the ladies at SM were amazing! They did an excellent job taking bits and pieces from photos I had from Pinterest to turning my look into exactly what I envisioned. The day of they were super helpful, and efficient getting everyone ready on time, and the entire bridal party look fantastic. Would highly recommend!!

Bridget and Chauny are amazing!

We were so thankful to have worked with with Bridget and Chauny for our hair and makeup and could not be happier with the results! From the initial trial they were able to make my vision come to life on the first try.

On the day-of they also did the hair and makeup for most of my bridal party and my mother. Everyone was SO happy with how their hair and makeup turned out and everyone looked beautiful! Somehow it all lasted through the end of the night, too - through all of the tears, sweat, and dancing, too!

Bridget and Chauny were a dream to work with and so much fun - we are so glad to have had them as part of our special day!

SM Hair + Makeup

The artists that I had on my day were a dream to work with. Getting the trial and everything put together was very easy. They were responsive to all concerns and questions that I had. The final look on my wedding day was exactly what I asked for. I felt amazing! They were able to do 12 hair and makeup applications with two hair and two makeup artists in about 5 hours as well! I would recommend them to everyone looking for great and reasonable hair and makeup.

So quick & so good!

Colleen and Bridget and their team are amazing! My friend used their team for her wedding and they were one of the first vendors that I booked for my own wedding after seeing how great of a job they do. They are so efficient in their styling and we all looked flawless by the time they were finished. Better yet, due to their airbrush makeup, we looked just as good at midnight as we did at 10:00am. Highly recommend working with SM Hair & Makeup!

Absolutely perfect!

We had Bridget and Megan do our hair and makeup for my wedding and they did such an exceptional job. My mom and I both did hair and makeup trials which helped us get a better understanding of what we were looking for. We ended up completely switching what we wanted for the day of, but they didn't miss a beat and delivered exactly what we were picturing. We also added another hair and makeup application a few days before the wedding which they handled effortlessly and still got all of us done in the allotted time. Everyone kept saying how happy they were with their style and application and we could be pretty picky. I went with an updo that stayed in perfectly all evening, and my airbrush makeup and false lashes looked natural and never started to get oily or smudge. I was blown away by how comfortable they made everyone and how easy it was for them to achieve everyone's looks. They are true artists! Thank you Megan and Bridget for making us all look so beautiful on such a special day!

I am so happy I chose SM makeup for my wedding! Amanda Miskowic was my makeup artist, and she did such a fabulous job!! Our wedding party looked stunning! The airbrush looked so natural, and my makeup did not spear even after all the crying and sweating throughout the day! On top of that, she was diligent, professional, and respectful. Megan and Bridget from SM Makeup did an AMAZING job on the hair and makeup for myself and my bridesmaids. They were so friendly and were more than willing to make any changes to the hair/makeup to make sure it was perfect. You can tell they are very knowledgeable because each person had a different hair style, makeup, hair length, hair thickness, etc. and they were easily able to give everyone exactly what they were looking for! Everyone's hair and makeup lasted the entire day and night and still looked flawless! Thank you for making us look and feel so beautiful!

SM Make up was wonderful to work with for my wedding. We just used them for make up services, but Amanda was so great and made all me and all my girls look so beautiful! I wanted to have a red lip, but wasn't sure what kind of lipstick to use that wouldn't rub off or smear and she gave me an awesome recommendation. I would highly recommend SM Make up for anyone looking to have beautiful make up done and work with a professional and fun group of ladies.

My experience with SM Makeup was absolutely wonderful! I was the mother of both the bride and maid of honor. All three of us had our makeup done by SM's owner Steph and we also had our hair done by her fabulous team. The artists and stylists are all so professional and fun to work with. They were early for our event in St. Paul and set up well before the bridal party appointment time. I would highly recommend SM to anyone planning an event where a personalized bridal look is desired. Many women recommended SM to us upon my daughter's engagement, and booking with them was the perfect decision for our special day.

WOW is the only word I can use to describe my experience with SM Makeup. Between the professionalism, the quality, and the fun they provided, you can't go wrong choosing Steph and her team for your wedding day styling. As the bride, I wanted to feel as beautiful as I could on my wedding day, while still looking like myself. The team exceeded my expectation with both my hair and makeup.
When researching stylists for me and my bridesmaids it was really important that airbrush was provided (not just for an extra fee). They gave not only my Mom and I a first class experience, but also all of my bridesmaids. We all looked stunning, and most importantly, felt stunning. You cannot go wrong choosing SM Makeup !!

I used SM Makeup for my hair along with my 6 bridesmaids and my mother. Gia Johnston was my stylist and she was amazing! My trial with her was a lot of fun and we found a great style that I absolutely loved. All of my bridesmaids and mother also though their hair was great and it stayed put all night. It was also really easy and quick communication with SM Makeup when we were setting up the invoices, etc. I would highly recommend Gia for all your hair styling needs!

SM MakeUp Inc was the perfect choice for my wedding day! I was nervous since I had Myself, 6 bridesmaids, 2 Mothers, and a flower girl to get ready all before 10:30am. What a wonderful company to work with! SM Make-Up Company not only did my bridal hair and make-up but they also did my entire wedding party, including my mom. The girls that I worked with made me feel totally comfortable, and confident on what I consider the happiest day of my life thus far. The price was totally affordable, very comparable and competitive with other wedding vendors out there. As soon as I started planning my wedding I made sure to get SM Make-Up on the books. They were so highly recommended by almost all of my close friends that have recently gotten married. (almost all of the weddings I have been to in the past 3 years have used them and all have had RAVE reviews)
-SM offers a bridal consultation prior to the big day, including hair and make-up so that you can critique and feel comfortable. (Especially helpful for us girls that don't wear too much makeup on a daily basis)
-SM travels to you! By the time that I got there all of the girls stations were set up at the church that we were getting ready/married at, no scheduling consecutive times at a salon and worrying about getting your veil caught in your car door before you even get your dress on! convenient!
-The girls were all so friendly and they genuinely cared about all of us feeling beautiful, they encouraged us to voice any concerns we had about our hair and makeup (if we had any), so that we would all feel as beautiful as we looked.
-The girls were TALENTED and they made me feel like a beautiful more enhanced, not 'fake' version of myself. My hair stayed right where she put it all night, even after dancing it looked great, and my make-up was flawless up until the last glass of champagne.
Thank you SM Make-up for making me feel like best version of myself on such an important day in our lives.

I am an absolute perfectionist when it comes to cosmetics and hair in general... SM Makeup far exceeded my expectations and everyone was thrilled with everything. Steph is a pro and I wouldn't recommend anyone but her. She's detailed, gives great advice, and is beyond patient when it comes to all your wants and needs. The artist I was paired with was Cristina. She did incredible work. She did two trials for me, and one for my mom (because we are anal). She is so friendly, and very talented. Day-of the event she drove up north with a colleague and did my hair, make-up, and tattoo cover-up. Both her and her colleague did great work on hair and make-up. I was very happy, as was the rest of my bridal party!

I have only had my hair and makeup trial so far, but I am super excited to use their services the day of my wedding! I am working with Chelsy and she is super easy to get along with and very open to constructive criticism. She asks after she finishes for the trial what you do and don't like and how it should change the day of so everything can be perfect! I love that they travel to your site and they are very affordable! They will be doing my hair and makeup, hair for my 3 bridesmaids, makeup for one bridesmaid and MoB hair the day of. I can't wait!

UPDATE: Everything went off without a hitch for hair and makeup the day of the wedding! I was actually able to wear my hair and makeup for the day after the wedding as well. Everything held tight!

Stephanie was so flexible and accommodating not to mention she made me absolutely stunning the day of the wedding! SM Makeup was fantastic! Chelsy was the lead stylist for our day and Sarah was the lead makeup artist. They were absolutely wonderful. They listened to what each person wanted ranging from the bride to bridesmaids to moms and grandmas. Each lady looked stunning. The team was professional, accommodating, and fun. SM Makeup was among the best priced in the Minneapolis are too. I highly recommend to any bride!

Stephanie and her team of makeup artists and hair stylists were amazing! There were a total of four women that came to my hotel room to get me and my bridesmaids ready for my wedding. They showed up promptly and finished early. My bridesmaids and I had a wonderful experience with Stephanie’s fun team. Sarah was my makeup artist and Cassie was my hairstylist. Both women were extremely talented and paid attention to every last detail. The price of her service was more than reasonable and I feel I got more than what I paid for especially since they came to my hotel room and worked around my schedule.

I recommend SM Makeup to any bride looking to have a team of first class makeup artists and hair stylists come to you on your wedding day. Months after my wedding my bridesmaids still talk about how much fun we had getting ready for my wedding. It truly was an unforgettable experience.

SM Makeup INC was wonderful to work with. If I had any questions I would have an answer back within 24 hours. They team really knows what they are doing. What I really liked was they let me decide on what I wanted to look like for my wedding day and did not do anything that was not me. Everyone at the wedding and reception commented on how beautiful the hair and makeup was. I will for use be passing their name off to people that are looking for hair and makeup.

What an incredible group of women who are true professionals and do an incredible job at makeup and hair. I have never felt so beautiful before in my entire life! I received so many compliments from people who weren't even at my wedding on my makeup and said that is exactly what they wanted on their wedding day and they wish they would of had SM Makeup team. I was pretty skeptical about getting my make up done professionally. I don't normally use a lot of make up in my daily life and didn't want to not look like myself on my big day. I had my make up trial and really liked it but still didn't look like myself. I emailed Steph and she was awesome and didn't make me feel uncomfortable when saying I didn't like certain things. Her exact words to me were, "I won't be happy until you are happy with it." And right then all my worries were gone. She took the changes I had asked and came the day of and did an AMAZING job! I got compliments all day and night on my make up and how gorgeous I looked. I definitely felt the most beautiful on my wedding day which was in large part to SM Make Up!

I had such a struggle trying to find the right hair and makeup vendors. My normal hairstylist was quoting really high for up-do's for me and my girls. I simply was not comfortable asking my girls to pay that much. Also, we had about 10 people needing hair and 5 waiting make up so we needed a big team to guarentee not having to get up before dawn to start getting ready. SM Makeup completed all of the needs and wants of the day with ease! I LOVE the way all of my girls and I looked! I had a consultation ahead of time so I could really explain what I wanted and appreciated the teams attention to detail and really listening to what I wanted. They were easy to work with, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly! I am so glad I found this team for my day and STRONGLY recommend them to everyone I know getting married now!

There is nothing more frightening than to think that you would not have your dream look on your wedding day. I went to several make up artists to have trials done, hoping that it would turn out great. I was disappointed each time, but decided to try one more place-SM Makeup, and I am SO happy that I found them. I cannot begin to explain how amazing Stephanie was. I showed her many pictures of what I was looking for, and omg she did exactly what I wanted! She reassured me that everything would turn out great, and honestly I have never felt more beautiful in my life! She was extremely kind, patient, helpful, and listened to all of my concerns. SM Makeup is by far the best value you will find for event / wedding hair and makeup in the Twin Cities. Trust me, I did all the research. While they don’t have “rock bottom” prices, their prices are incredibly reasonably, but the quality of their work is exceptional. Their team comes to your location (and were early!) and does all the hair and makeup on site. The girls are fun and make the “getting ready” portion of your day a memorable, enjoyable time. I had multiple comments from members of my party (there were 6 girls getting stuff done plus me - the bride) of how impressed they were with the hair and makeup artists, their skills, and especially HOW QUICKLY they got everything done.

I had my bridal hair done by Chelsy Rosett and she was absolutely incredible. Aside from her easy going, fun personality, she is an incredibly talented hair stylist. I received so many compliments throughout the night about how gorgeous my hair was and it is all thanks to Chelsy’s talents. Also - the hair stayed until the very end, which makes a difference (I’ve seen many brides with hair that looks sub par by dinner). I never resprayed my hair throughout the night or worried about it.

My makeup done by the owner Stephanie Martin. She is amazing. She is so sweet, kind and truly tries to understand exactly what you want and makes it come to life. She made me feel the most beautiful I ever have and that is an invaluable feeling - especially on your wedding day. My groom said to me multiple times throughout the night - I always knew you were beautiful, but today you look absolutely stunning. He was blown away.

Thank you SM Makeup for being a part of our day, and making me - and all members of my party - feel gorgeous.

SM Makeup just recently did my wedding. Throughout the process, they were quick to respond and to answer any questions, provide any advice, or make any adjustments.

Our makeup artists were fun, friendly, and very professional. They made me feel comfortable from the trial throughout the day of the wedding. They were very friendly to my family and bridesmaids and were joking around all day with us, helping us to relax. They were even a calming presence when my photographer was running late and I was freaking out :)

We made quite a few adjustments from the trial on the day of - I just had in my head at the trial I needed to go crazy when that isn't my style. They were both very flexible and made the changes as I requested them.

My hair and makeup looked PHENOMENAL, and my bridesmaids were all stunning as well. To be honest, I was a little nervous before I went that they would outshine me, they looked that good :) The makeup held up well in photos and lasted from 10 until we closed the bar down (and it was 85 degrees and sunny out). Hair held through the entire night, even after sleeping on it.

Overall, I couldn't have been happier. The artists were friendly, talented, on time, and very professional. Everyone looked beautiful and it was nice being pampered! I would definitely recommend them for any occasion!

Beautiful Hair and Make Up

SM Hair and Makeup were great to work with. We had to reschedule due to COVID and they were flexible with us. I had done my trial run almost a year and a half before the actual event but Bridget and Megan still had the photos from the trial and were able to recreate the look. They were professional, arrived on time, were friendly, and did great jobs. They had everything that they need with them and were able to work quickly and efficiently. All our hair and make up looked great for photos and the wedding. They were able to do my junior bridesmaid's hair and make up, the bride's, bridesmaids', and mother's of the bride and groom. Even with that age range, everyone looked amazing and felt amazing too!

Chelsy was so great to work with. I booked her for my hair and hair for my bridesmaids/personal attendant. It was a little difficult to get things booked in the beginning, but after sorting that out, the process was great. Since I was planning from Chicago, I was able to do an initial consultation with her when I was in town several months in advance. After finishing it there were several adjustments I wanted to make and Chelsy was more than accommodating. I emailed photos to her of what I was looking for and she assured me that even if I changed my mind completely the day of the wedding that she'd be able to do whatever I wanted.

The day of the wedding was great, Chelsy showed up early to house we were getting ready at and was able to get through all 5 us in record time, even with adjustments and tweaks after people's makeup was finished. Everyone loved their hair, it all turned out better than we'd anticipated. I would definitely recommend her!

As any bride understands, there is nothing like great vendor service on days leading up to your wedding and, most importantly, the day of. Stephanie (the owner) was graceful in helping navigate my needs and we worked together to find the right stylist that fit the hair I was envisioning for my wedding day.

Enter Robin Kurtz.

Positive, organized, on-time, up-lifting, honest, funny, and a great listener. Due to my work schedule, we couldn't schedule my trial hair until a week before my wedding. I was getting a little burnt out of running errands and Robin (without me asking) offered to come to my house to do the trial. What!? Talk about a weight lifted off my shoulders! Truly amazing service. We worked out a couple different styles and there was no doubt I could trust Robin to execute on my wedding day.

She did a phenomenal job on my wedding party, mother, and my hair was stunning. I look at my wedding pictures and am so happy with how everything turned out. I used SM Makeup as my hair only vendor for my November 19th wedding. Our stylist assigned to our bridal party was Cassi. Cassi was a sweet heart. She was 15 min early on the day of the wedding. She was so friendly, caring and professional. All of my bridesmaids loved their hair and it stayed all night :) At my trial we did a hair style I thought I wanted and the morning of the wedding, I changed my mind and wanted something very different. She handled the change great and I absolutely loved my hair and it stayed in place ALL night long!! Stephanie and her team are INCREDIBLE! From the moment I decided to book SM Makeup, planning was a breeze. For my consultation, I explained the look I was going for, and with one try, it was exactly how I imagined it. What bride and her party doesn’t want to look their absolute best on their wedding day and in pictures that you’ll be looking at for years to come? SM Makeup is the company to make sure you do. We had Chelsy for hair and makeup and her skills are beyond amazing. The trial run (which is done at the owner’s house, so don’t be confused when GPS takes you to a neighborhood) was a must- it gives your stylist the time needed to fine-tune your look to be just what you want. Even though my girls didn’t have trial runs, Chelsy took their ideas and brought them to life. The company was even great about all the last minute changes I had (had a few girls add makeup at the end and I changed the location on them). Their prices are really reasonable and absolutely WORTH EVERY PENNY!

A group of girls and I had a consult with Cristina on Saturday, April 18th. She was on time, upbeat and so much fun. She listened to what each of us wanted (ages ranging from 25-55) and made all of us feel like our most fabulous selves!

On the day of the wedding, 4/25/15 Cristina and Chi were both on time (even with it being very early, sorry!) and ready to rock! They were both very professional, and had fun with us while we rocked out to 90's pop music. They were fun, friendly and handled all 7 of us quickly and with stunning results. Cristina prepared a touch-up kit for me as well for the day of and that was extremely helpful.

Overall, I would recommend SM Makeup to ANYONE who is looking for this type of service. I was very happy with the level of communication with Stephanie, and the girls she sent us to work with us.

One of the only artists I could find that does not charge for a trial session and took her time trying everything out. SM Makeup was the best vendor choice I had made for my whole wedding! They were so accommodating and easy to work with! I had a big group wanting to do hair (8 bridesmaids, two moms, and myself) along with a few wanting makeup (3 bridesmaids and myself) and the team was so quick, yet doing a fabulous job on each and everyone of us! They were doing such a good job that at least 3 other bridesmaids ended up getting their makeup done on the spot because they were loving how everyone else's makeup was turning out! A huge plus for me with booking their team was that they have stylists all over so a travel fee to St. Cloud was very small (unlike other vendors). I would definitely recommend these ladies to my friends and family!

I loved working with Cassi and Emily, my hair and makeup stylists from SM Makeup. Meeting them at the trial, they asked me just the right questions (and filled in the blanks where I didn't know) to give me the perfect bridal look right out of the gate.

Our wedding day beauty started nice and early, but Emily and Cassi were able to travel to our venue and kept on schedule the whole morning. My bridal party looked gorgeous! My stylists were professional and personable, and we had a great time!

Competitive pricing with great results

I was so happy with how both my hair and makeup turned out with SM Hair and Makeup! Their pricing felt very fair compared to the Minneapolis market, and the stylists were on time and attentive to what each of my bridesmaids wanted—I didn’t hear a single complaint from anyone. Isabel (hair) was efficient, flexible, and made adjustments with a smile, and Sarah (makeup) did an incredible job with so much attention to detail. A couple of small things to note: the stylists were very quiet—I would have loved a little more energy and excitement on the wedding morning. Sarah’s perfectionism was amazing, but her services took closer to an hour each instead of the 45 minutes we were told, which impacted the timeline slightly, so make sure to add in that extra time when scheduling. Also, communication before the wedding was a bit tricky—I had to follow up a few times to get the final invoice and confirm details. That said, I’m overall so glad I chose SM Hair and Makeup. My wedding look turned out beautifully, my bridesmaids were happy, and I’d definitely recommend them—with just a heads-up about timing and communication.

I could NOT have asked for a better team to work with on my wedding day. Stephanie and her team did a wonderful job on the bridal party, mother of the bride/groom, and myself. I am not very decisive which made the wedding planning process difficult at times, but Stephanie and her team made this part of the wedding flow smoothly and knew exactly what I wanted and what would look best on me. After viewing their work online, and hearing from a few friends that had used SM Makeup in the past, I knew I would not be disappointed. SM Makeup are phenomenal at what they do, and are willing to work with you to create your perfect vision for your wedding day. Not to mention, the wedding party and both mother's looked stunning and were just as happy with both their hair and makeup. I would highly recommend SM Makeup. Overall, I had a pretty good experience with SM Makeup. I originally choose them because their prices were reasonable. My stylist, Cristina, was very sweet and took time during my consultation to make sure she understood my needs. My hair and makeup looked natural, which is what I desired. I was a little disappointed that my hair had already begun to fall out by the reception, despite me asking her to add extra product. One other frustration is that we had specifically asked for two blowouts for the MOB and MOG but the stylists showed up unprepared for that task, which added extra stress during the getting ready period. I did wish they had sent more help for styling as hair and makeup took a long time on my wedding day. Nonetheless, the reasonable price and kindness of the staff overshadowed our frustrations.

I had Megan do my hair and it was ABSOLUTELY incredible ! I would rate hair a 5. She did blow away my expectations. My make up on the other hand was pretty awful. It was great until the makeup artist did not finish my eyelashes completely and then came back to it. My eye watered the entire day because the false eyelash was put on so badly. I had to fix my makeup at least 7 times with my own make up. I suggest doing your own eyelashes.

The owner took days, sometimes weeks to get back to me. I was told I would get a refund because the make up didn't stay on and it's been over 4 weeks and still have yet to get a refund. The owner is also rude and unprofessional. If being treated well is just as important to you as the work then use a different company!!

I used Thumbtack to find hair and makeup artist for my wedding in November. I am incredibly nervous about my hair and makeup because I do not usually have either done so I did a lot of research. SM hair and makeup seemed like the perfect match for the hairstyle I want and having a makeup artist. They responded to my original search on thumbtack, then replied to my message that had some questions. The message said "Hi Anna!

For 7 hair we'd probably send 2 stylists and need about 3 hours. So possibly a timeline of 9am-12pm?

We do require at least 3 full makeup applications to send a makeup artist- do you think you could find two more girls for makeup? If not, let me know!

The travel fee to your location would be $15, one flat fee- however, we do require the bride to cover any, and all parking expenses our staff obtain while working your event.

To proceed with booking we do require a $200 deposit- this does go towards your final wedding day costs and/or a trial run. That being said, we do offer trial runs 6-8 weeks before your wedding day- the cost is $100 for hair & makeup, or $50 per single service.

I responded saying I would like to proceed with booking and asked how to pay the deposit. I heard nothing for a few days. So I sent a "booking" confirmation on thumbtack a couple days later and still did not get a response. So after a week of no response I called the salon and also left a message on thumbtack that if I did not hear back by the end of the day that I would be seeking a hair and makeup artist somewhere else. NO bride wants to settle for an unreliable service. I am very disappointed because I liked their portfolio, but I want a service that is sure to show up and be reliable that one that has the best portfolio but is not responsive.
