Skamania helped us every step of the way

We had a really lovely wedding day at Skamania Lodge. Everything was taken care of by Skamania as it was meant to. We were really impressed with Skamania when we woke up on our wedding day and it was raining outside: Skamania took care of getting everything moved to a covered or indoor setting for us and kept the stress off of my fiance and I. My guests were amazed with the beauty of Skamania Lodge and had great things to say about the staff and service at Skamania.

Skamania Lodge is not only a gorgeous hotel with the most amazing backdrop of the Columbia River Gorge – the staff and everyone we worked with are awesome! We are from Chicago but wanted to get married in the Pacific Northwest. We visited over 10 locations throughout the Portland and Seattle areas, and the moment we walked into Skamania Lodge – we knew it was the place! There are so many different amenities that cater to anyone from children to adults. They have a number of different options for your ceremony, reception, rehearsal dinner, etc. The rooms are beautiful and clean, and it’s so nice that there are different restaurant options too! The weekend of the wedding, many of our guests played golf, hiked, went on wine tours, relaxed at the spa, and just hung out either outside on all of the lawn chairs, or inside in the beautiful foyer. Needless to say, they were all happy and constantly tell us how much they loved it there! So much, that one of our friends actually went back and bought land in Skamania County!!
We worked with Talia and Tiffany, and they were absolutely wonderful to work with! The days leading up to the wedding, Tiffany consistently checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed and helped us with all of our last minute needs. The wedding turned out beautiful and went off without a hitch! We could not be happier and highly recommend Skamania Lodge!

Having our wedding at Skamania Lodge was truly one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. From the beginning to the end of the wedding process, the Skamania team (more specifically, Tiffany) went above and beyond to make sure our day went off without a hitch and helped ensure that everyone had an amazing time. The Lodge is known for its customer service and everyone there pitched in to help us have a perfect wedding weekend!

My husband and I commented so many times on the honeymoon how happy we were that we chose Skamania Lodge. We got married at the amphitheater and it was the most incredible backdrop for a wedding, perfectly highlighting the gorge. Cocktail hour on the lawn was sunny and elegant. On top of that, the staff spent hours helping us create an incredibly detailed and beautiful reception inside as well. Food and beverages also surpassed our expectations. The bartenders were great sports – learning how to make our signature cocktails – and many of our guests commented on the delicious food at dinner. The Skamania baker, Kelly, also created a beautiful and yummy cake for us based on a picture I brought from pinterest. On top of all of this, our guests had a lovely time staying at the Lodge and enjoying the activities of the Lodge (zip lining pool and fire pits) and the Gorge.

Everyone at the Lodge was truly wonderful – helping us coordinate, decorate and create the most amazing wedding day. Tiffany was calm, patient, dedicated, capable and fun – always trying to help make our vision come to life. She went above and beyond during the entire planning process, at rehearsal and for the actual wedding. Everything from the ceremony to the reception looked fantastic. The ballroom literally took my breath away...it was magical. And, we had so many people comment on how perfectly everything was executed. I would wholeheartedly recommend hosting your wedding at Skamania Lodge – it’s worth the investment and you won’t regret it!

I can't say enough about the staff and service at Skamania Lodge. They were incredible to work with and their attention to detail was fantastic. This was a destination wedding for us, so it meant a lot that they thought of the small things that we otherwise probably wouldn't have known about or planned for. Jena was fantastic to work with and I wouldn't have changed a thing about our day or my interactions with Jena and the other staff. We got rave reviews from our guests on the food, venue, and wonderful service they gave to the kids at the wedding. The day and whole weekend were absolutely magical, and I would recommend Skamania Lodge to anyone looking for a peaceful, beautiful, relaxing place for a wedding. It's not cheap, but it's well worth the cost and you do get what you pay for--great service, delicious food, and a day you will never forget!

Skamania Lodge was the most beautiful setting for our wedding reception and our guests were very happy with the services and accommodations during their stay. The staff was exceptional and our wedding catering manager Tiffany was amazing; we can't say enough good things about her. Jena was incredibly friendly and helpful at helping us with our contract and all of the staff was professional and pleasant. Additionally Shay provided excellent AV/MC services. This was the PERFECT destination wedding location and we could not be more satisfied!

Skamania Lodge was the perfect place for our wedding for so many reasons! We worked with Jena and couldn't be happier with the level of service we received. The food was beyond fantastic, the views were to die for, and the planning/coordination Jena and the rest of the staff provided was absolutely priceless. I was in constant contact with Jena throughout the planning process, and she made sure I had everything I needed to ensure our wedding day was a success. On our wedding day, the staff was so incredibly accommodating and really allowed me and my groom to sit back and enjoy our big day. Rest assured, if you book your wedding with Skamania, you won't regret it. They take incredible care of their couples and leave no stone unturned. Thank you, Skamania! Highly HIGHLY recommend!

Skamania Lodge was the perfect location for my wedding and reception. After meeting with the wedding coordinator and explaining our vision, she was able to pull it together seamlessly. My guests had an amazing time. Some of them still say it was the best wedding they have ever been to. I would recommend Rebecca and Skamania Lodge to anyone. The staff are very professional and helpful. And they made it a weekend I will always remember!

Absolutely fantastic. Rebecca, our coordinator, was wonderful and extremely attentive. Skamania is a large venue and we had a very tiny wedding. Never would have known it for the amount of attention we got from the venue. The treatment we got was royalty like. It was a magical day.

This was the BEST experience of the wedding experience. Rebecca made everything so easy and fun to plan. The staff was extremely helpful. Everyone commented on how the food was great, the location was beautiful, and the staff was exceptional. I would definitely recommend planning a wedding here.

We had a large, formal wedding with a TON of set-up. Rebecca, the in-house coordinator, was amazing with every detail. The wedding was seamless and perfect. Before the wedding day, we went to the lodge to sample some menu items, and the head chef brought the dishes out to us personally. He was very concerned we were happy, made special dishes just for us, and accommodated our guests with dietary needs, no questions asked. Our budget was completely respected, and they treated us like royalty!

I was so thrilled with Skamania Lodge. I can’t imagine any venue being any better in any way. The site is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is amazingly friendly. The food was delicious. I can’t say enough about them. It's a one-stop shop, where you can have all your needs taken care of from one place, which is definitely what we were looking for. And they don't skimp on anything - they provide you with the best for everything. Skamania may seem a little expensive at first, but when you consider that everything is included, it is right on par with a lot of other venues. And the quality is very high.

I worked with Jena, and she was the best. She answered all my neurotic questions in a very timely manner. Any little request that I had was accommodated. It was absolutely perfect. I can’t say enough about them!

What a dream! The outdoor amphitheater was amazing, the reception hall and food were perfect. This was an incredible experience. Jena was wonderful and extremely helpful with every last detail. I could not have asked for anything more!

Jena was very helpful throughout the wedding planning process even though she was thrown into the veritable lion's den only six weeks before the wedding. She responded to every last minute request, problem, change with absolute grace and willingness to find a solution for everyone to be happy. She was awesome.

Wow! Skamania is absolutely amazing. So responsive and helped with every need! I loved Tiffany as my wedding coordinator and the wedding was absolutely beautiful. I would definitely book with them again, but of course, to have such a wonderful wedding, it did cost a pretty penny.

Skamania knocked it out of the park with our Memorial Day Wedding. Both of our families had the best time and were blown away by the beauty of the PNW and the accommodating staff of Skamania Lodge. They understood that we wanted a personalized weekend, with some unique touches that are very “us”. The girls did yoga on Wedding morning, and the guys golfed. We had an amazing Welcome Party in the Garden Patio, rehearsal dinner in Baker & the terrace, and Wedding Day was just perfect. Alyssa and Ariel helped us fine tuning all the details, and they were so helpful. The Green Apron is a great option as well!

Such a stunning view and beautiful resort! Our wedding was such a memorable event because of the incredible food, service, and scenery at the Lodge. Highly recommend this destination for your wedding!

Such a great place to have a wedding! The staff was wonderful - they walked us through everything and were very understanding that we had no idea what we were doing. They were available whenever we needed them via phone or email and responded quickly. They coordinated with all our vendors so that we didn't have to be the "go between". The only reason I took some points off is because they lost our wedding favors that we had mailed there a couple of weeks before the wedding. They did give us some replacement favors - local jellies - but it still wasn't the same as our personalized ones. Otherwise, they were wonderful, and SUCH a beautiful setting! I'm definitely going back there.

My husband and I had a great weekend at Skamania with all of our family and friends there to celebrate our wedding. Even though there were a few bumps in the road, the staff were quick to make sure we were accommodated and that we were happy. From champagne and free breakfast for my MOH and I to help with the trouble we had in the beginning, to getting champagne, strawberries and a cute little Skamania teddy bear for my husband and my honeymoon suite. Skamania made sure that we felt special and important. We had a room block with Skamania and it was great to have all of our family and friends together in one place. We were able to have a group dinner for all of our family staying at the Lodge in the Cascadia Dining room and enjoy drinks out on the patio and chairs after overlooking the Gorge. The view is so amazing and peaceful. Although my husband and I didn't have our wedding at Skamania, we did have a day after brunch on Sunday. We ended up needing to change locations a week before the event and my contact, Ariel, was quick to help me make the best decision for the size of our group. The location ended up being just what we wanted; a quiet, shady and secluded place for the family to reminisce about the wedding the night before. I'm glad the location changed last minute or else we would have all fried from the heat on the front patio and we would have all been squished into a little space. It was very nice that they accommodated my brother, sister-in-law and my dietary needs. Bringing out a gluten free option for us was very nice of them. The bartenders for our cash bar were very nice and accommodating also. Overall it was an amazing experience and my husband and I had the best weekend of our lives out at Skamania Lodge celebrating our new life together and bringing our families and friends together to celebrate.

My son and daughter in law were married in the area summer 2015. Although we did not hold our ceremony or reception at the hotel, we had our rehearsal dinner and brunch the day after. All our guests stayed at Skamania and enjoyed the beautiful views and inviting and comfortable rooms. We found the staff extremely helpful and the food very good. We made all the arrangements from a distance away and found all details were exactly as we requested when we arrived. It was a great wedding weekend!!

Skamania is an absolutely gorgeous place for a wedding and we couldn't be happier we had our big day here! The landscape is always maintained and gorgeous! The food was fabulous and each detail turned out how we wanted it. The only downside was that over the year that we were planning our wedding, the coordinators changed three times due to people leaving. Each person seemed to pick up where the other left off and they were always professional. We were very happy with our entire day and everything turned out perfectly! It was the best night of our lives!

Skamania lodge is beautiful, and really presents a wonderful setting for a wedding.
The service is outstanding, the resturaunt's amazing, and the onsight amenities are nice as well such as the golf course, pool, spa, etc. The rooms provide comfortable beds, and room service is great. The prices are a little steep, ok, really expensive, but if your getting married and want to do it right this is a place to remember. One flaw besides the price i would have to point out is the railroad tracks about a mile down the road. If you have river side room the train is fairly loud and can interupt your sleep, so ask for the forest view. Book early, because they are usually booked a year in advance.

Overall at the end of the day we were very satisfied with samkaias services. The setting and views are absolutely stunning and can't be beat. We had our wedding outdoors at the amphitheater with the views of the gorge and River behind us. The lodge is beautiful as well. There are many activities for guests and, while its not cheap, is certainly reasonable. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception went smoothly without any problems. Tiffany, the coordinator, is great and made sure everything went smoothly the day of the event. My sister has been to dozens of weddings and said she can't believe how smoothly everything went for ours, and it was the most "on-time" she has ever seen. This was thanks to tiffany and the vendor we chose for sound/DJ/emcee, John Ross. I would highly recommend chosing the vendors that they work with regularly, since I'm confident that the wedding went so smoothly because the vendors we chose are all used to how to do things efficiently at that location. The food was awesome and we had them make our desserts (no cake, but a variety of sweets including incredible mini creme brûlée!!). They are able to accommodate really any request, but tiffany told me the type of bride and wedding party they usually attract are the laid-back, outdoorsy, REI type couples (and indeed, that is who we are). The views and the lodge are the best part of skamania, but the wedding package that they offer means you don't really need a wedding planner (although a planner would still be a good idea since you will still have lots of details to work out and secure several vendors like music, photographer, hair/makeup, lights). Overall we were incredibly happy with the end result.

The overall experience wen't really well. The reason we chose the venue was for the following reasons. The view of the river and the trees was really amazing! It was beautiful! In addition, we chose this venue because of the level of organization and the fact that they catered the entire event!

Our coordinator was on top of getting things prepared ahead of time and with us every step of the way leading up to the day of. If everything went perfect, then I would rate a 5/5. However, everyone knows that the day may not be 100% perfect. I understand there might be some issues that come up. And there was a couple issues that arose on the day of. To save a little cost, we decided to use fake flower pedals for the flower girl. Our planner did not tell us we couldn't use fake flowers until 5 minutes before the bride was about to walk down the aisle. Secondly, the audio team did not coordinate properly and caused there to be an issue w/ the music for the ceremony. Lastly, we had a mis-communication w/ our coordinator with the final bill that we had to resolve after the fact.

Again, overall I would strongly consider this venue if you are looking for a beautiful outside wedding venue w/ a great team that is organized and has great food! One last thing, I would highly recommend attending the wedding show that the venue holds in the beginning of the year. It allows you to taste the foods they offer, talk to local florists, and tour the grounds!

Unfortuniatly, the biggest issue that I had that caused added stress and concern was that I had three different event coordinators. I kept up on all coororspondance as well as had a complete record of our event and what was promised. The frustrating part was that each time there was a change I had to review everything and alomost renegotiate what we were planning and promised. I wish that we had a call from a director to ease any concerns that we had and re-confirm our event so, that we didn't have any confusion with the transition.

Also, I was dissappointed that the tables were not in the order that I took the time to map out for the seating arrangment. I specifically put certain tables in a certain area due to age and the fact that they had infants in the group and they were seated exactly where I didn't want them.. next to the DJ. I'm not sure why this confusion took place considering I provided a map and if their was a question or an error in receiving the fax I wish that someone would have followed up on it.

Next, we discussed that when we reached the end of the hosted bar that someone would communicate to my parents prior to charging guests. It was embarrising to me how some of the bartenders spoke to guests whenn they tried to order a drink. Even me and my father went to get a drink and were asked to pay cash??? I was so shocked that this is how the trasition was handled and asking me to pay when their was a mast bill didn't make me feel very special as where would I have money on me? Thank goodness my dad was with me but we were both confused about this standard practice? Bartenders also requested I.D.'s which is OK but several preople told me that they were rude about it?

Moving on to our food... it was fabulous but, did want to mention that we specifically picked out the filet that was served with a blue cheese sauce and even had it noted on our menu that was placed on each individual place setting and the filet was served without the sauce that we ordered. I was dissappointed with that as we were really looking forward to that and it written in our contract? Lastly, the quesdilla bar was set up in the far cornor of the room and no one knew what it was or when it was put out. I would suggest for future brides to have this set up a little closer and maybe even suggest to the DJ to please make the guests aware of the late night eats.

Over all I did feel good about our event but their were a few things that could have been handled better to make it a 5 star rating. The night manager and staff was very friendly and warm. Jena had to jump into her role and make this event a success and I feel it was a memorable day considering all the extra elliments that we had to deal with. We had a large group of out of town guests, welcome bags, transportation, cocktail hour, the reception, brunch, and a sunday event so, there was a lot to our event that had to coordinated and why I was so involved. Please know that I understand that that changes do take place in a hotel and I can't expect everything to be perfect... I would not have even said anything other then this survey was requested.

The Good:
We loved the location of Skamania Lodge. The guests found it relaxing. There were nice places for photos. The ceremony site outside had a great view and a nice stroll down the aisle/field.
The support staff for the AV department were really cheerful and energetic. We couldn't afford many of their services with our budget. But they were really fun to work with.
They have a new wedding coordinator. She seemed nice and responsive, but we already had our own by then so didn't have any dealing with her.
The food was great and they were able to cater to our desire to have some Vegan options with really tasty treats and no fuss made.

The Bad:
Their wedding coordinator was ill and out for months right after we signed our contract and the coordination and communication was so horrible with the staff that were supposed to fill in for her that we went and hired a wedding planner. Our phone calls weren't returned. Things like prices and details that they had agreed to were not honored until after we had spent a lot of time sending them emails that had been sent to us previously regarding the matters.
The best prices they were willing to give us for the block discount was a worse price then we were able to get by going to discount hotel web sites. So we just listed those on our website to help people find the best prices. The best prices at those websites would change daily as far as price and which website had the best deals.

Overall: I'm glad I got married there. Everyone had a good time. It was relaxing and scenic when the day arrived.

This is a beautiful venue. It is really hard to book, however. I would reccomend at least a year in advance, longer if you have a specific date in mind that is between April and September. The food is excellent!!! The responsiveness of the staff in supplying the food was a little slow, but their overall service was exceptional. They have a wedding package available, but it is more affordable to get some of the services separately if you do not want everything in the package.

Skamania Lodge was my dream wedding venue. The scenic backdrop overlooking the wedding site was exactly what I wanted. The process of working with the lodge started out great. Our FIRST coordinator was very helpful and would answer any question I had almost immediately. Unfortunately, in the 14 months before our wedding, we ended up with 3 coordinators. The SECOND coordinator was even more helpful than the first. I thought it was fate that we ended up with her. But sadly, she left and we were given our THIRD coordinator. She was exactly the opposite of the first two. I had to be the one who called the lodge 3 times to even find out her name, instead of her contacting me to introduce herself. I went weeks without hearing from her and she made the 3 weeks before my wedding frantic. Everything fell into place the day of our wedding and I enjoyed my day. However, there was an issue of the lodge breaking one of our wedding gifts. We were told it would be fixed the following Monday (our wedding was on a Saturday). It took almost 3 weeks to get the issue resolved. AND they tried to tell us we owned them more money for our wedding after the final bill had been set and charged us double for our hotel room. There is a definite communication problem INSIDE the lodge as well as outside. I would caution anyone who is looking at Skamania as their venue choice. If you are laid back and okay not getting full service for an expensive price tag, then this is your place. At the end of the day, I am happy we had our wedding here because of the beautiful backdrop we had. However, if we had known it would have been so problematic, we would have gone elsewhere!!

We started well with the 1st coordinator but, after we signed the contract she resigned. Our 2nd coordinator seemed just as capable but in about a month she also resigned. Our 3rd coordinator was brand new & picked up the pieces as best as she could but notified us a week before our wedding that she has personal business to take care of the morning of our wedding & referred yet another coordinator to take care of us. When I brought up that I was worried about the many changes in hands both coordinators dismissed my concerns.

In working with FOUR different people details were missed! We went with Skamania Lodge hoping for an outside wedding. We wanted to use the views as our backdrop so we arranged minimum decorations for the ceremony. Unfortunately it rained the day of so we had to move it inside but we were never told during the planning stages which room the ceremony would take place in for plan B so in the rush of moving inside I didn't realize how plain the room looked until we walked down the isle. I was a first-time bride & didn't know to bring back up decorations. Sharing such important details is the coordinators' job!

There were two other weddings happening at the same time & our coordinators were often gone attending to the larger wedding parties.

My aunt baked pies for our wedding & I am certain not all of them were finished because we also had cake. We never received what was left over. They just threw away our wedding gift!

We had two guests not stay for dinner but our coordinators didn't notice & didn't offer us to take those guests' meals home though we had already paid for them.

We contracted the sound system & MC with Swank Audio Visuals (affiliated with Skamania). I gave them my iPod & USB cable to play our music. When the iPod was returned the cable was missing. I emailed them & was promised the cable would be mailed. I didn't get the cable after a month so I emailed again. When I finally received the cable it was the wrong one!

Just say no! They literally screwed up every single reservation I made which left me fighting with them the day after the wedding (instead of enjoying our wedding brunch with my family). It was a total mess.
