Steven was so wonderful to work with for both our engagement shoot and for the day of our wedding. He was always checking in with us and making sure we were okay, he was very professional and knew exactly what he was doing. My husband and I were very comfortable on the other end of his camera and our pictures turned out so beautiful. He also got our pictures to us so quickly, which was incredible! Our dream photographer!!!
My husband and I are feeling beyond blessed to have been able to snag Steven (SJA Studios) as our photographer for our wedding at Boojum Tree in PHX! Not only is his work unbelievably gorgeous, but his professionalism, personality, and kindness went a long way in helping us feel comfortable and taken care of throughout the whole process. I knew we were in such good hands with Steven; it made the photos just one less thing to worry about. He was always so great about responding very quickly to all of my questions over email or text. Steve was amazing every step of the way. Clear pricing on services, video meeting upon hire, and kept us informed every step of the way. Steve is incredibly friendly and professional. From the day we chose him for our wedding, he was there for us. He was always prompt and clear answering any questions we had. Our engagement shoot was such a fun experience and Steve made us feel so comfortable. And the photos from our wedding day couldn't have been better. Steven was incredible from start to finish. When inquiring about booking him for our wedding day he scheduled a phone call with my husband and I to get to know each other and see what we were expecting from him. Throughout the wedding planning process he would check in and see how we were doing and ask if there was anything he could do to help us! Wonderful Wedding Photographer
We had the pleasure of working with Steven at SJA Studios for our wedding and could not have asked for a better photographer! We live in WA and got married in AZ and Steven was very good about keeping in touch throughout the months leading up to the wedding and especially when we go to the last 60 days. He was creative and professional and made sure to understand what we were looking for in order to make sure we got all the photographs we wanted. Steven was recommended to us through our wedding venue The Boojum Tree. Lucky for us because he was the most helpful, knowledgeable and easy to work with photographer I have ever experienced! His photos were stunning and throughout our wedding journey he was there every step of the way offering advice and asking if we needed help with anything. On our wedding day my husband referred to him as a “ninja” because he was able to capture all the amazing moments without us even knowing he was there! From start to finish, we couldn’t have been more pleased with Steven Aquilino and SJA Studios! Hands down, Steven was the best vendor we worked with throughout our wedding planning process! In preparation for our wedding in Phoenix, we reached out to multiple photographers; Steven was the only one to respond to our inquiry. Never having planned anything like this before, Steven spent quite a bit of time during multiple phone calls walking us through the process and explaining what we could expect. His extensive experience with wedding photography not only eased any anxiety we had, but also inspired some great ideas (which turned into wonderful memories!). Steven was always extremely responsive to e-mailed questions and provided all the information we were looking for each time (and we had a lot of questions). Along the way, Steven did little things to enhance our experience like sending a tin of gourmet cookies and a Starbucks gift card. On the day of our wedding, Steven worked extremely hard to ensure we got all the photos we wanted. The photos are fantastic!! We love looking at them all the time and have such wonderful keepsakes of our special day! We feel very grateful that Steven responded, and was available for our wedding! Steven was by far the most responsive vendor we hired. He always responded to my emails within 24 hours, often even within 30 minutes! It was such a relief to know that I could rely on him for the wedding. We purchased a 4 hour package for our intimate wedding. In addition to the 4 hours we had together on wedding day, we met with Steven once in person, once over Zoom, and then once again on-site before the wedding day to plan out our photos. He helped us take really natural photos and perfectly captured our emotions on our wedding day. He made us feel like models even though we had never taken a good photo together before! Steven showed us sneak peaks within a few days of our wedding, and returned our entire wedding portfolio within a few. Steven was an incredible choice for our Sedona wedding! We booked him in 2019 before Covid changed everything. When we had to postpone our wedding a full year out, he made the process easy and agreed to still be our photographer. Steven was great about keeping in touch, so that when the wedding rolled around, we were very comfortable around him. He felt more like a friend than a stranger. He even sent me the sweetest card after my dog passed away, and I’ll never forget that.
Our wedding photos turned out beautiful, and he made capturing them a breeze. He knew how badly I wanted the red rocks of Sedona in my photos, and he made that happen. My husband and I got married in the middle of the craziest year in history. We had a couple of other vendors who weren't very flexible, but Steven was understanding and supportive, and came up with a bespoke plan that fit our needs perfectly. Steven communicated with us frequently prior to the event so there was nothing to worry about on the Big Day except to relax and have fun. He anticipated our every need - everything from meeting through video chat cue to our distance, offering reliable advice on photography locations, and keeping us up to date on the local happenings in Arizona.
Since our wedding was tiny (5 people total!), Steven graciously offered to split our wedding package to include a family session a couple of days before the wedding. Steven's in-depth knowledge of the local area lead us to the perfect location in Scottsdale for our family photos. With his keen eye for design, he was able to balance the family seamlessly, so nothing looked out of place or awkward.
For the wedding, Steven was flexible to meet us at our Airbnb for pre-wedding photos. He sent us a pre-planned list of items that he would like to photograph while we were getting ready, which saved us TONS of time.
Steven was prompt, polite to our guests, and friendly with all of the other vendors. During the ceremony, Steven thoughtfully placed himself around the venue without disturbing anyone. He even went out of his way to take a few pictures of our party at our restaurant reception.
Overall, Steven is the best photographer we ever hired, hands down! His experience and expertise in photography helped us capture the most important memories that we will cherish forever. The photos that he shot for us were breathtaking! If you are looking for an expert photographer (and not someone's hobby!), definitely choose Steven with SJA Studios!

Steven was incredible and helped us navigate the entire wedding process. When COVID changed our wedding plans, he was the first to reach out. Not only did he help us resecure a new date, but he also reworked our wedding package to accommodate our new change of plans. BEST photographer EVER!
You get what you pay for and let me start by saying that although he was a very reasonably priced photographer, I honestly feel his work is significantly under priced! Steven has a great eye and the quality he provides is beyond expectations! From our first meeting, he made us feel comfortable and did not have any gimmicks about trying to sway us into hiring him. He was very knowledgeable and made a point to follow up and check up with us periodically without being pushy. Quite honestly, he was like the backbone that helped keep my very busy self on track. I had all these intentions about sending him photo ideas for inspiration but last minute retracted and I have no regrets. Steven captured every memorable moment as well as picture perfect shots that looked like they were straight out of a bridal magazine! He was very good about making sure he captured all the moments most important to us and gave us input on how to coordinate our time frames to make sure we maximized our ceremony and reception times. I couldn't be happier and he will be my go to, 1st choice photographer moving forward.

A wonderful experience!
Steven was fantastic to work with. We had our wedding at the Boojum tree and he has worked at this venue for well over a decade and his experience showed. I initially had wanted 2 photographers as I was worried about getting all of the shots done on time, but as he knew where all the best locations were, we were able to finish in record time, which was fantastic considering we started pictures at 1:45 and finished at 4:15! He helped organize all the groups of people, and got some of the most beautiful wedding pictures I could have asked for. Overall, I would recommend Steven to anyone who wants a great photographer!

A photographer's photographer
After spending all the time and effort to make sure our wedding was picture-perfect, the last thing I wanted to do was leave anything about those pictures in the hands of someone I didn't trust. Steven with SJA had a portfolio that immediately caught my eye - timeless natural color grading, obvious technical mastery of the art of photography, and an eye for catching the unique details of the venue, and delivered on the promise of that portfolio.
Steven was incredibly client-focused, and inspired confidence before and during our wedding that we would have amazing mementos. He had no artistic ego, and was up for whatever creative shots we wanted to do, and seamlessly turned our fun shot ideas into art we will treasure forever.
In addition to all of that, he's a genuinely great guy to get to know, I really enjoyed him being a part of our event team, he had a great calming influence on the whole event. He was so subtle my wife didn't even realize he'd been mingling on the dancefloor taking candid shots until she saw the album!
The only apprehension I had before the event was that he worked alone, so I was curious how the ceremony coverage would be--but the results speak for themselves. He was able to capture every angle of our ceremony that we could have wanted, and I don't even remember him being there.
Finally, his color grading and edits were world class. As an advanced photographic hobbiest who knows everything that goes into a good picture, let me assure you: The gallery you will get from SJA is as good as event photography gets.

Great wedding photographer
Steven was our photographer for our engagement photos and our wedding photos. He was pleasant, had a positive attitude, and was easy to work with. Both shoots were fun and relaxed but he still gave us some guidance and feedback to create great pictures. We had limited time during the wedding for the couple portraits, however we really liked how the ones we took turned out. We thought both our engagement and wedding photos turned out great.

Weddings are a very stressful, time consuming thing to plan. Working with SJA studios relieved a huge portion of this. The best wedding decision I made!
Steven was everything we could ask for in a photographer. Every question that I had he responded to minutes later, no problem. Additionally, even if I didn't have any questions, if it had been a couple weeks since we talked he would shoot over an email asking if I needed anything. Beyond helpful! The editing process was very quick and I received online access to all of my photos before the end of my honeymoon! Not only that, but he was so easy to talk to and understood perfectly how we wanted our day captured! I would recommend him easily to anyone looking for a photographer to capture an important time in your life!

When we first met Steven, we knew immediately that we wanted to hire hire him. He made us feel comfortable from the very beginning about the entire process. In the time leading up to our wedding, he kept in touch and constantly offered to help in any way. Steven let us know the timeline of pictures in advance of our wedding in case there was anything we needed to add or remove. He was very conscious of the parts of our wedding that were more important to us and made sure that he left ample time to capture the most beautiful shots. We really wanted to get pictures in the natural scenery, which required somewhat of a hike. When we asked Steven if this was possible and he made it happen, no questions asked. He and his assistant hiked up the trail carrying all the camera equipment! Throughout the whole process, he was constantly giving us tips of how to smile and move etc so that he could get the best candid pictures. We cannot say enough great things about Steven. Having our picture taken seemed natural and comfortable with Steven behind the lens. He did not try and sell us more hours than we needed or wanted and he really listened to us. We are truly grateful for all the hard work Steven did to capture our special day and make it perfect. We have pictures that we are proud of and can look back on for years to come. Last summer we booked our venue at the Sedona Golf Resort for our wedding on May 11, 2018. Next on the booking list was a photographer because having a great photographer is essential to a wedding. I looked up Steven and witnessed his beautiful photography, and I knew I had to have him as my photographer. Steven has been tremendously helpful, flexible and simply amazing since day one and his expertise in the wedding business extended out to the wedding day, in which, I am genuinely thankful. Steven did our engagement photos and I love them. He captured us just the way we are a fun, loving couple who has been together for 16.5 years! My wedding photos are breathe taking and beautiful, regardless of how crazy the wind was on that beautiful sunny day in Sedona. There are so many options when choosing a photographer and it can be so overwhelming. We wanted someone we could connect with and who saw our vision of what we wanted for our engagement/wedding photos, not to mention a photographer that wouldn't break the bank. Steven was fabulous! We did our engagement photos with Steven, and due to weather conditions were weren't thrilled with the outcome. Steven offered a re-shoot at no charge and we LOVED the photos. We hired Steven to come to our rehearsal dinner to get candid photos. It was so nice having him there so we didn't have to worry about taking photos. Steven also captured beautiful photos during our wedding. Steven told us we would have our photos 3-4 weeks after the wedding and he surprised us and had them back just over a week after out wedding. Picking a photographer for the most important day of your lives, is an incredibly hard decision! My husband and I had narrowed it down to two and made our final choice with SJA Studios! Steven was the easiest person to work with. He was always available to help, even if it had nothing to do with photography! He would constantly check in with us and see how were were doing prior to our event. He gave us tips and tricks along the way! The day of our wedding he was there promptly on time and was able to capture every memory we wanted and more.
Turn around for our photos was SUPER fast! We waiting a week an a half after our wedding for our honeymoon! Steven was wonderful to work with. Having no experience in hiring a photographer, he was transparent and upfront with not only costs but logistics and how the day would go. He took the time to check in with us several times before the wedding to just see how we were doing. On the big day, Steven and his assistant were fantastic. I couldn't have imagined how it could have gone any better. The pictures he captured were amazing! From the posed pictures to the candid shots, he did such a great job. I am so excited to have these great photos forever!

Steven was amazing from the day we met him! Very attentive and always there every step of the way. He even goes so far as to check in every now and then just to see how you are doing! He is an amazing photographer - from style to care and precision with every shot. He captured so many beautiful moments, especially the ones when you didn't even know he was looking. That is the magic, to be able to see all the true emotions on your special day! He was also very conscious in asking us if we had all the shots we wanted throughout the day, although we didn't really have to make any special requests. We put all our trust in him and his work speaks for itself. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOOKING SJA STUDIOS!

My husband and I hired Steven to do our engagement photos and our wedding photography. He was phenomenal. He kept in touch with us and was very knowledgeable about where to get the. Eat photos in both scenarios. He also went out of his way to explain the process and the timelines to us which was very generous and helpful in easing our stress about our big day! If you're looking for a photographer that genuinely cares about you and your photos and will give 100% to giving you the best product, hire Steven!

From the beginning of contact with Steven we noticed his professionalism and helpfulness. We were planning our wedding from out of town and were very concerned with not being able to meet with our vendors in person. Our concerns were put to ease after our first telephone contact with Steven. He was not pushy at all and understands that there needs to be a good match with your photographer and what each couple is looking for. Steven gave us pros and cons along with his professional opinions based on what we had in mind. Steven kept in contact throughout the whole process with check-in emails and Skype sessions. He always offered any help including finding additional vendors etc if needed. On the day of the wedding, Steven was punctual and interacted well with us and our friends and family. At the end of the night before he left, Steven made sure that we got all of the shots we wanted. Our photos were completed earlier than expected and were of great quality. We got many compliments from friends and family on Steven's personality, professionalism, and quality of work. Our only regret is not booking more time!

Steven was great to work with. We were from out of town so Steven set up Skype calls for us to discuss our needs and desires. Steven did an amazing job, was always very responsive, arrived on time the day of and got some amazing shots. Overall, I would highly recommend Steven and he got us our pictures within a week when we were still on our honeymoon. Extremely satisfied!

Steven did a fantastic job on our wedding photos. We were from out of town, and he communicated with us regularly and promptly to understand our needs. He was willing to Skype with me, and he came out to the venue to check it all out prior to the wedding in order personalize our wedding photos. He was very understanding and accommodating when I told him that I blink a lot in photos. He took many pictures until we had the perfect ones. Thanks Steve for capturing our special day on camera so elegantly!

Steven was perfect! He was very flexible and responded to our questions via e-mails within minutes. He took control and left us with nothing to worry about. He made sure our day was organized perfectly from start to finish and knew the venue at Sedona Golf Resort very well. He reassured us of any concerns we had which is exactly what any bride and groom desire for their big day. We were quite impressed with how professional Steven was as well. Not only was Steven delightful to work with he is also an amazing photographer! Steven was a referral from my father and I'm so glad we decided to go with SJA Studios! Not only is he an experienced, professional photographer, but he brought a level of customer service I wasn't expecting during the crazy hours of planning and organizing my wedding in between a heavy work schedule. Email reminders helped to keep us on track after the initial consultation where we could make sure we would be a good fit for each other. We even received a Starbucks giftcard in the mail from him as a mini reminder to soak up the experience and take some time to relax. Our wedding photo gallery was available to us the day we got back from our week long honeymoon even though we weren't expecting them for a couple more weeks!! My husband and I were beyond fortunate to work with such amazingly talented person and truly appreciate the photos that we can cherish for a lifetime.

Not only did he check in with us regularly, but he always found a way to show us he was thinking about us through out our planning process. If you are looking for a photographer that is invested, organized, and personal, Steven is the best choice. My fiancé and I are not very comfortable in front of a camera and we were nervous about the photography portion of being engaged and getting married. Steven took our engagement pictures and immediately got to work helping us feel okay having our pictures taken. He focuses on everything being natural and full of life. Steven had great ideas for poses and backgrounds. He made our wedding day extremely special, had our pictures to us very quickly, and they all looked beautiful. I didn't know it was possible to capture the moments Steven did in a photograph, but it is with him.

Steven was one of a few photographers we met with. It was important to us that our photographer was familiar with our venue at The Boojum Tree because it is so eclectic and there are so many little hidden details. He has shot there many times and all of his samples were beautiful. Steven is very sincere, professional, and responsive. Throughout the wedding planning process he was patient and flexible and great to work with. Steven is very prompt in his response time. He also provided suggestions for vendors for our cake (Sue Jacobs) and DJ (Oscar at Valley Mix Entertainment) that both ended up being amazing. Steven also kept in touch frequently and sent us a holiday card and a Starbucks gift card a few weeks before our wedding. We were impressed with his personal touches. He also took family photos for my family. He was great to work with and everything smoothly. We love the pictures he took especially of all the details of the big day. We hope to keep in touch with Steven as he is so friendly and personable.

Steven is a great photographer and very professional! We met him at one of the open houses for a wedding venue and fell in love with his sample photographs and wedding albums. He is very easy to get along with which is important when he'll be with you for hours on your big day. He is always there for you if you have any questions and is quick to respond back. He provides little tips and tricks for the big day and is a great resource. Not only is he an amazing photographer but also a great support system throughout the whole wedding planning process. He will check in with you every now and then and also send nice letters in the mail. :)
We had done our first walk through of the venue a year before the wedding and we did a second one two weeks before the wedding. He has an eye for the best places to take pictures at and the best shots. Even though there was a lot of time in between each walk through he remembered every single detail of what we wanted. You can tell he cares about his clients and always wants to do well.
He is professional, efficient, and will get the most amazing shots possible. He is worth every penny and is actually a great deal! If we could give him more than 5 stars we would! There is no better choice!
Steven, thank you so much for capturing every single moment of our big day! It helped make the experience amazing! We will definitely keep you in mind for any future events. Thank you again!

I can't express enough how much we enjoyed working with Steven for both our engagement and wedding photos! He is very talented, professional, courteous, highly communicative, all the things that are so important to have in a photographer. But even more than that, he is a kind person who is fun to be around and that is extremely helpful during what can be a very stressful day! He kept us laughing during the engagement shoot and pre-wedding photo sessions and really let us be the drivers of the poses for the most part (he does help you by making suggestions and corrections so that you look great!). When we got our pictures back we really felt they represented "us" instead of being overly posed and looking forced. For both photo sessions he got our photos back to us very quickly and they were very high quality. Many friends and family at the wedding commented on how much they liked him, and he managed to capture so many funny/touching/special moments among the guests that we have loved to look back on. His pricing and packages are also very reasonable! If I could give more than 5 stars I definitely would.

Steven was an excellent photographer! He was brilliant at keeping in touch with us as we juggled and prepared for our big day. He was super flexible in our requests of locations as to where we wanted to shoot and the photos are stunning. He insisted on several skype calls prior to the main event which acquainted us with him and allowed him to get to know us. It also helped us flesh out ideas and inspirations. Everyone that was there at the wedding was impressed with him and made a point to let us know how great our photographer was. It was such a special day and thanks to Steven we have it captured for a lifetime.

Steve was recommended by our videographer, Tim Plummer. From the first moment we met Steve in a Starbucks near our home, we were fans. He had a smile on his face and showed us his previous work with confidence. He didn't try to "sell" us anything and kept the conversation real in regard to expectations and results.
We booked him about nine months before the wedding. Something I came across with other vendors throughout our wedding planning was just how difficult it was to get a hold of them. I would wait days for some of them to return my call or email. Steve, though, was extremely easy to get a hold of and responded within hours!
To fast forward to the wedding day: It rained. The ceremony was outside. Not just rained - it poured. Everything we planned in regard to pictures and rehearsal disappeared with the rain. I felt like I was simply along for the ride while I was being pointed and pulled in different directions. Throughout all of the chaos, Steve was on point. He was able to get every shot that he said he would get and more.
Besides his professionalism and soft skills, Steve's photographs are absolutely beautiful. One of the upsides of it pouring down rain while I walked down the aisle with my father and stood in front of the alter under an umbrella with my husband: AWESOME pictures. Steve stayed in the rain with us and made sure we were where we needed to be as the chaos continued.
He was pleasant and professional from the very beginning to the very end.
Did I mention he even sent us a Christmas card?
I recommend him with absolutely no reservations. He will be a great addition to your planning and to your wedding day.

What to say about Steven...except for phenomenal and amazing!! He is a super nice and easy person to work with. He checks in on you while you are stressing over the little things and gives you a sense of piece of mind. Ever since I met with him I knew I had made the right choice. We did our engagement shoot with him at the Desert Botanical Garden and the pictures came out gorgeous. On our wedding day he went above and beyond by making sure we stuck to the schedule and even showing us little sneak peaks of the pictures he had taken which were even more beautiful then I could have ever imagined. I can't thank him enough for staying till the last minute and being our photographer.
