    Amazing dessert spread

    From my first bite at our tasting to seeing the beautiful dessert spread at our reception, I was so impressed with Jessica's desserts! We decided not to get a cake and just have a dessert table with cookies, cupcakes, cake truffles, and macaroons. She has a ton of varieties and flavors to choose from!

    Not only are her desserts delicious, she set up a gorgeous display with tiered platters and trays. They were a HUGE hit at our wedding and I regret not ordering more for leftovers!

    Wedding Cake and Sweets Table

    We are beyond thankful that we chose Simply Sweet to be our cake and sweets table display at our wedding! Jessica was THE NICEST person ever during our entire wedding process! She was so nice, warm, and professional during our first cake tasting. You can tell she is very passionate about what she does. She went ABOVE AND BEYOND for our sweets display and cake! She quite literally remembered details of our cake tasting that we didn't even order and added it as a special treat on our wedding day to surprise us! She is that giving and caring! Not to mention, the creations she makes are so beyond delicious and beautiful. Thank you so much!

    The PERFECT desserts

    We loved our experience with Jessica. During the tasting, she helped us pick out and create our dessert bar and design our wedding cake. It was sincerely the most DELICIOUS desserts I have ever had - we are so so happy we hired Jessica for our sweet treats! It was the icing on the cake of a perfect day.

    Could not have been happier with our cake! We did a faux cake that turned out BEAUTIFUL. The guests (and my husband and I!) raved about the actual cake. We did 2 kinds of sheet cake. I'd highly recommend!

    When we were planning our wedding, we decided to keep the desserts very simple and under a very tight budget, especially since we were "splurging" on so many other parts of our day. Then, I found Jessica and all of that went out the window and I honestly couldn't have been happier. The dessert table was the "wow factor" at our reception, for sure. She created such an amazing masterpiece and the sweets tasted even better than they looked. I only spoke to Jessica a handful of times, but she immediately understood my style and absolutely nailed it. From chocolate covered coffee spoons to mini cupcakes and cookies, everything was perfect. Thank you, Jessica! You are so talented and we loved working with you!

    Our wedding cake was gorgeous and tasted delicious. Jessica was very flexible with telling me how much things cost from the very beginning. She if one talented cake lady!

    Jessica is the real deal

    If you are getting married in the Petoskey area, Simply Sweet is an easy choice. Jessica's desserts (cakes, cupcakes, cookies, macarons) are all great. Our guests were clamoring over the dessert bar choices we had, because they all wanted to try everything at least once! I usually prefer a chocolate or fruit flavored cake over vanilla, but the vanilla cake we got for our mini wedding cake (for the wedding party) was the best vanilla cake I have ever had, and I honestly will go get some the next time I am in town. Because she books up and gets busy with the wedding season, she (understandably) has some final scheduling/guest count/payment dates that you really need to abide by, but she makes those very clear. Her setup of our dessert bar was gorgeous, and because she has great working relationships with many venues in the area, we literally did not have to do any additional coordination after one time of mentioning to our venue coordinator that she was our dessert vendor.

    Jessica did such an amazing job with our wedding dessert bar! The presentation was aboslutely gorgeous - almost too perfect to touch! We had so many compliments on the cupcakes, cookies, and cake truffles, especially. The red velvet was my favorite - so tasty! I had no doubt that our reception would be perfect and I felt so comfortable having Simply Sweet as one of our vendors helping to put on an unforgettable evening. Thank you to Jessica and her team - everything exceeded my expectations!

    All of Jessica's desserts are absolutely amazing! We were a little turned off at first after hiring this vendor because she was hard to get a response from via email, did not cash our deposit check for over a month, and required $50 for a taste testing. However, after being locked in with our deposit we decided to just pay the money for the taste testing and enjoy the process. Even though it is a lot of money, you leave with A LOT of desserts from the taste testing! We only ate half so we had another half to take home to our family to try! I do not regret paying that money and trying the desserts. From there Jessica was extremely professional, pleasant, and much better at communicating (just needed some prodding with phone calls, better than email). In the end we had a line wrapping around our reception hall waiting for desserts and not a single cookie or cupcake leftover to take home. Compliments that they were the best desserts ever! Extremely pleased with the end product!

    My experience with Simply Sweet was all relayed through my mother, but she was so thrilled with the service. The shop has such a trendy, yet homey feel. The service is great and the cake is delicious! The one issue we had was that all of the frosting on our bride and groom cake had slid off by the end of the night and we weren't able to take our topper to freeze. This could have been because of the rose piping on it, but overall we were very pleased.

    Very good experience

    Overpriced and not tasty

    Prices are ridiculously high, both the cakes and delivery fees. We found working with them to be difficult because It was hard to get emails returned. You have to drive to meet with owner during off season only. There is no price list to help you pick cake sizes. Additionally, the owner poses many restrictions if you use her, requiring that you can only purchase all desserts through them. We debated backing out of the agreement after hearing these unwritten rules, but did not want to lose the deposit. We should have. The final blow was that our cake was prepared without any flowers though the owner's notes showed flowers were to be included on the cake. No one checked the notes or cake before it was delivered, or if they did, no one called us to confirm the design. It was the ugliest wedding cake ever! To top it off, we did a lemon raspberry and it was too sugary. Most people left it uneaten. I've seen beautiful cakes come from this bakery, but quite frankly, we must not have been important enough to ensure quality. Not worth the price for the lack of professionalism.

    My initial interaction with Simply Sweet was a phonecall. A woman named Carolyn answered the phone and I was trying to get a quote for a small 8 inch round cake, I got the impression she had no time for me, or that my questions were cumbersome for her. There was so warmness over the phone. So I proceeded to go into the store to hopefully get some more answers, and put in some constructive criticism for her employee, and well, let's just say it comes from the top down! I did not mention my unfriedndly conversation over the phone, because I soon enough realized that I was inconveniencing her as well! Not warm, unfriendly, and quite frankly rude for a first interaction! It was an unpleasant experience overall and I will be getting my simple, 8-inch cake elsewhere who is interested in my $65!

    I had Jessica do a small cake for my wedding on June 24th, 2017. I should have known that this was not going be the best experience given it was very difficult for me to get Jessica to respond to emails and or calls before we finally even got a contract set. I suspect this was largely because I was not spending a ton of money and did not need a large order. Regardless, because I had heard such glowing reviews of her, I pursued her and finally got her to intermittently respond. This was a small cake as it was only for cutting, not for serving. I sent her several images as well as showed her thet day of our tasting the very specific color of the cake I needed it to be (which was a dark pink). Unfortunately when it arrived on my wedding day it was baby pink. When I emailed her afterwards and asked her about this she never responded therefore I called her. The response that she gave me was that all she had written on the contract was pink and that she just didn't use enough food coloring. Long story short she did not offer any recompensation for her error as well as asked me to pull down a negative review I posted. She'd agreed to replace it with another cake however when I called to pick it up today she would not give me the cake until I pulled down the review. I told her I stood by the review but would update it with the gesture that she had made. And it was never really about the cake. Ultimately in the phone call today she left a very bad taste in my mouth as a vendor and business person and I told her I did not want the replacement cake as that's never what it was about. Hopefully she learns from this experience as a vendor and is more gracious in accepting responsibility and offering to make it better rather than blaming the customer.

    We were married last weekend in Harbor Springs and used Simply Sweet by Jessica for our cupcakes. Hands down, her cupcakes are DELICIOUS. Beyond that, her business acumen is terrible. We spent months trying to get her to return emails and/or phone calls, even after she had received our deposit for the wedding. We have a friend who lives near the venue (it was a destination wedding) who wrote her repeatedly to do a taste testing, which was responded to with a "not available" after weeks of trying to contact her. I believe her cupcakes are priced right; but then she charges an exorbitant amount for delivery, set up and more money to come and pick up her own dishes! If we didn't pay that, would we have been able to keep them?? Horrible experience from the very beginning. I'm happy to see others did not have the same response from her that we did.
