She helped bring our vision to life!

Shelly was a fantastic vendor for our wedding in October 2020! She was so transparent about pricing, flower availability, and was willing to help us create beautiful flowers for our ceremony that fell within what we budgeted. She was also very willing to adapt to our change of plans due to the pandemic, and even helped to add on some last minute florals for our wedding cake which we forgot to request. My wife was thrilled with her bouquet, and we heard tons of compliments about how beautiful the floral arrangements were at the church. We can't wait to work with Shelly again for our future reception!

A Unbeatable Talent. BEAUTIFUL.

We are unbelievably blessed to have Shelly Johnson as our florist.
She was incredibly communicative, kind, and well-- TALENTED!

She turned the whole venue into a fairytale land. It was everything I could have dreamed of and more.

What I could not put into words, she put into designs. She took a few small ideas and RAN WITH IT.

I cannot say enough kind things.
Our wedding would not have the jaw-dropping impact it did without her.

Absolutely THE BEST wedding vendor I had the privilege of working with for our wedding! Shelly was amazing in every way, and I echo all of the comments left in the 5 star reviews prior to this posting. This speaks volumes to her consistency and reliability. From wonderful and timely to vision-capturing and detail-oriented, Shelly blew me away. I had so much confidence with her understanding of and confirming my visions at our first meeting that I didn’t feel the need to meet immediately prior to the wedding day/week (and that’s tough for a controlling perfectionist, but she made it easy for me to let go and trust). Her communications by phone and email were thorough and she never missed a beat. I cannot stress enough how amazing she was - and I hate writing but I’m so so inspired to share this review with the world. Don’t bother with interviewing several florists for price estimates, or for a variety of supplies and rentals, or whatever it is that is most important to you. Shelly is competitively priced, professional, has a huge selection and everything you could ever want, and continues to sharpen her education and stay relevant in the ever-changing wedding/floral industry. She is on point! Thank you ever so much, Shelly!

Beautiful Flowers

We hired Shelly to do the flowers for our wedding on June 21, 2019. We asked for centerpieces, bridesmaids lanterns, a bridal bouquet, and boutineers. Shelly absolutely delivered, everything was amazing! Shelly really took the time to sit with us and discuss our vision for the day, she had ideas on types of flowers which was great because I know nothing about flowers. After our consultation and decision i changed my mind about a few things and Shelly was very flexible, even changing out invoice for some things that changed. She was very responsive and we were excited for the wedding.

The day of the wedding the flowers were delivered perfectly on time and when they came to the room I was blown away! I saw the beautiful bouquet filled with flowers and succulents and all the colors I asked for, accompanied by the bridesmaids lanterns which were overflowing with lush greenery and colorful flowers in hues of purple as I had requested. Everyone was floored with the execution that Shelly accomplished! If that wasn't enough, the guys boutonnieres were perfect and I couldn't have asked for prettier centerpieces at the reception!

Shelly was very flexible in the fact that I had purchased my own terrariums for the reception and i just wanted her to fill them with greenery and flowers, we dropped them off the week before the wedding and she delivered them all done perfectly to the reception space.

Overall I would 100% recommend Shelly to anyone, her work is fantastic!!

Our flowers were absolutely perfect! Shelly listened to what I had thought up in my head and brought it to life. The flowers were beautiful and my bouquet was more beautiful than I could imagine. She’s a talented florist and she made everything perfect for my big day. I would recommend her a million times over.

I can't say enough about Shelly's work. I had high expectations from what I had seen of her arrangements and yet she still managed to exceed all of them! She was able to take my jumbled ideas and turn them into exactly what I wanted. Her attention to detail from the smallest boutonnière to the grandest church decoration was outstanding, and we got so many comments as to how stunning the flowers were. The florals at our ceremony and reception will always remain one of my favorite parts of our wedding day.

Shelly is the perfect florist! Every wedding in my family has used shelly and I was seriously happy to follow tradition. She was amazing, her work flawless, and she is just amazing. She will make your wedding dreams come true! She is professional, organized, warm, welcoming, and just a bride's best friend. I would recommend her to anyone having a GR wedding.

Shelly was very helpful in helping us decide which florals, greens and rentals would be the best for us. She recommended pretty much everything based off of 2-3 pictures I send her of things we liked, which of course made it very easy for us! As an out-of-state bride living in Arizona and getting married in Michigan, planning was an extra challenge. Shelly could not have done a better job of making our vision a reality. Our reception was beyond gorgeous, even better than we imagined. We got positive feedback all night long on how beautiful the bouquets and centerpieces were. Aside from the flowers and greenery we also rented assorted candles and branch candelabras that matched our theme perfectly. Her crew came in and set up and tore down everything flawlessly. Thank you so much Shelly, even though I never got a chance to meet you in person, you played a HUGE part in our perfect day and made everything that much more beautiful!

Shelly did an AMAZING job with my bouquets. They were more beautiful than I imagined they could possibly be! I just showed her a couple pictures and let her run with it and they turned out to be gorgeous - everyone at the wedding commented on how pretty they were. She is very kind and helpful and accommodating as well. I would recommend her to any bride, any day.

Shelly went above and beyond for our wedding! She was very flexible with our limited availability to meet and last minute changes to our order. Shelly was also extremely responsive to emails and always took the time to answer our questions. We told her our budget, and our vision and she made it happen! It was like she pulled a picture out of my head and delivered it to me in a bouquet! Our flowers were so beautiful and we got so many compliments on them. I would highly recommend Shelly!

Working with Shelly was simply amazing. I was beyond impressed from the minute we met. She listened to my thoughts & suggestions, was professional from beginning to end, and most importantly...could handle my father! (Which says a lot.) Our flowers were EXACTLY as I envisioned, and the cost was more than reasonable. I can't say enough about Shelly - I'm so glad I found her! Shelly, thank you for everything! I ADORED all the flowers that Shelly did for my wedding! She was so fantastic to work with- from meeting with us early on since I was moving, to making sure we could meet with her again when I was visiting, to the day of the wedding- fantastic. My vision changed a little bit along the way, and Shelly graciously and creatively accommodated that. She helped me stay within my budget, which I really appreciated. All the things I had asked for came out better and more beautiful than I could have imagined. I HIGHLY recommend Shelly's Designs Florist!!

Shelly was wonderful to work with. She was excellent at giving advice for what went well together to make the wedding day flowers exactly like I wanted. We had previously used Shelly for my elder sister's wedding and she was fantastic then too. She had everything to decorate the church and reception including a unity candle set and pillars for the flowers. The church and reception were beautiful! We found Shelly’s Designs online and really liked the arrangements that she put together. We also liked that she was an independent business owner. Because we live in Chicago but our wedding was in Grand Rapids, the majority of our communication was via email. Shelly was extremely responsive and timely and made this an easy process.

We arranged a meeting with Shelly and she is great - extremely knowledgeable and friendly. She provided suggestions and really helped us narrow down what we wanted. We opted for real flowers for the bouquets and boutonnieres and then fake flower arrangements for the front of the ceremony room, which we rented from Shelly. These arrangements looked great and were available at a fraction of the cost of a real, large floral arrangement. She also has a multitude of different items you can rent, including card vases/boxes, name card holders, candle holders, vases and numerous other items. Her prices are extremely reasonable as well.

Shelly delivered everything on time and as expected and even came and picked up all of our rental items at the end of the night for a nominal fee. Our bouquets and arrangements were GORGEOUS and even better than discussed or expected. Many of our guests commented on how wonderful the flowers were. My only regret was that I had to leave for my honeymoon two days after the wedding so I didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy my bouquet after the fact! If I ever need floral arrangements again, I would definitely contact Shelly and would recommend her to any of my friends and family!

Shelly did an amazing job for my daughter's wedding. She was fantastic to work with and was able to help us stay in budget. Shelly made the whole process easy for us and was so patient with listening to our ideas and responsive to what my daughter wanted as well as me, the mother. You could tell she had an experienced eye and knew exactly what to do to make my daughter's wedding absolutely amazing. We both were so happy with EVERYTHING!! We heard over and over again how everything looked very simple but elegant. We could not have done it without Shelly. She is truly amazing!! Thank you so much Shelly!!!

We planned our wedding from out of state. Working with Shelley was a wonderful experience. She took every idea we had and made it possible. On our wedding day the flowers turned out better then I could ever have imagined. Everyone who attended our wedding said that they had never seen such beautiful arrangements and flowers.

Shelly was a phenomenal, high-value florist, referred to us twice at other amazing weddings in the area. She works in a home studio to keep costs low. She also knows what is going to be in-season and will substitute for another flower that just won't work that time of year (peonies vs. garden roses).

Even if you have a good-sized budget, she'll still keep you aware of costs so that you are spending your money for what you really want. For example, we loved a bouquet she had featured on her website that had monkey tails. She likes monkey tails, too, but she also let us know they cost $8/pop! That adds up quickly and could eat up the budget that could go towards more sizable, high-impact blooms. We found other contemporary flowers to add for the "fun factor," and they turned out perfectly.

Shelly is up-to-date with technology. She keeps an active Pinterest page of her work (www.pinterest.com/shellysdesigns/) and you can easily share your Pinterest ideas with her. She takes diligent notes during your meetings to record exactly what was discussed so there are no misunderstandings, too. However, she's also really flexible! Our outdoor ceremony venue had lots of black-eyed Susans, and my mother called a few weeks before the wedding to see if we could incorporate them into the flower arrangements and bouquets -- no prob! We had a bike-themed wedding, and we found some cute beach cruiser bikes to display at our reception. They had big baskets, and my mother asked Shelly if she would add flowers to the baskets. Well, she didn't just add flowers -- they were overflowing and amazing arrangements, and the cost was extremely competitive.

My particular vision was for bright colors with lots of interesting textures. We decided on orange callas, roses, pincushion protea, red berries, yellow billy balls, hot pink garden roses, hot pink dahlias, black-eyed susans, succulents, and seeded eucalyptus. They held up very well. We planted the succulents in our garden in Texas!

Shelly has a wonderful showroom and had exactly what I was looking for to go with my simple and elegant vintage wedding theme. She was very prompt whenever I emailed her, and she was very helpful to me when I moved out of town and was trying to coordinate everything from the other side of the state.

It was a complete joy to work with Shelly on planning my daughter's wedding which took place on May 10th.

Shelly is the total package...She is first and foremost very talented. Shelly's designs are incredible! Shelly is also one of the nicest and most pleasant people I have ever met. She is fun and is totally interested in making your event exactly what you want. She listened to everything my daughter had in mind and went from there...We absolutely LOVE her!!!

Shelly offered several different options and gave us plenty of time to work out our selections. Shelly has many different decor items to rent which enhance the final product of her designs. Her ideas and concepts are so beautiful you cannot go wrong!!! The flowers she made for my daughter's wedding still today (3 days later) look as fresh as the day they arrived at church.

Shelly delivered in more ways than one...(literally and figuratively)...I heard over and over again from our guests that they have never seen such an elegant and beautiful presentation! Thank you, Shelly!

Shelly has done a great job! We meet with her and she walked us through everything. I had brought pictures of the flowers that we wanted and different ideas that I liked. She was able to help me figure out what I wanted and what flowers would look great. I would highly recommend her. Shelly is great to work with and I cant wait to see what she will do for my wedding! Shelly is amazing- everything for my wedding was flawless! It was exactly what I imagined it would be, and can't imagine the flowers being more perfect that they were. I had a winter wedding- and she was kind enough to call me ahead of time to inform me that some of the flowers might brown in the cold, so to take pictures of them ahead of time (as I was planning to do outdoor photos). I was so grateful for that- she even included an extra bout for the groom for when the first one got a little brown ;-) Everything was just amazing- thank you, Shelly!

Shelly is the BEST wedding florist! I live in Chicago and was married in Grand Rapids. I had one in-person visit with Shelly and I felt she listened and understood exactly what I wanted from that one visit. Leading up to the day, I spoke with Shelly on the phone and we exchanged a few emails. Shelly was always very professional and quick to respond. On the day of, I was so happy to see everything Shelly pulled together! Also, Shelly has the most gorgeous rental pieces to go with the flowers! She has them displayed in her office so you are able to see the actual pieces instead of just looking at pictures. I recommend Shelly to anyone who wants a hardworking, creative, professional vendor!

Shelly's floral arrangements were beautiful for my daughter's wedding. This was a challenge for Shelly considering my daughter lives in Seattle and was married in Grand Rapids. But, Shelly is a good listener so she had the color and arrangements perfect for the outdoor ceremony, tables, cake and bouquets. The wedding was at the Grand Rapids Public Museum which has tight time schedule for set up and take down. Shelly worked very efficiently and professionally with the schedule allowing the bride and families to enjoy the wedding. There was a last minute need for roses for a rose ceremony which Shelly supplied. I highly recommend Shelly and plan to use her again when the need arises.

Shelly was amazing! She was a pleasure to work with and knew exactly what I wanted! She was able to recommend ideas that I hadn't ever thought of. I received more compliments on the flowers than anything else on the wedding day. They were beautiful, fresh, vibrant and some of the guests flowers lasted almost two weeks after the wedding! I couldn't have asked for anything more and would highly recommend her to anyone I know!

I don't have enough words to say how amazing of a job she did on our centerpieces and my bouquet! She exceeded my expectations and her prices were better than anyone I looked at. I wanted big centerpieces and instead I got huge. The quality of the roses along with the other flower choices were super fresh. We split them into vases afterwards and they lasted almost two weeks. If anyone is hesitant to use Shelly, don't be.She is the best and will turn your floral dreams into reality without breaking the bank!

I was thrilled with my flowers at my wedding. Shelly not only created EXACTLY what I envisioned--she went above and beyond & gave me the most beautiful arrangements and bouquets I have ever seen. I was pleased with the price b/c she truly sits down with you and figures out a way to give you what you are looking for with the budget you have. Flowers have always been the most important vendor to me for my wedding day and she did not disappoint! My husband and I loved Shelly's design and presentation of the flowers and decorations at our wedding venue. I especially liked the fact that she gave us an extra Boutonnière for my husband to refresh before pictures and the reception. She definitely has a passion and talent with her work. Her pricing was just right for our budget. She was not as pricey as those large scale shops can be with all of the overhead that they have. She added in some extra WOW factors to the bridesmaids and my bouquet that added extra sparkle on our wintery wedding day. She also gave me some great pricing on the tulle and lighting above the dance floor. It looked great and it highlighted our dance floor and cake table. I wish that I had another use for her great floral designs regularly! I would recommend her to anyone!

Shelly was great to work with. She provided a variety of ideas and suggestions for my bouquets and arrangements for the wedding. She was more than helpful on what might look better together than others. She also stuck within our budget on what to spend for flowers.
Shelly provided tons of options for decorations and also table centerpieces. Never pushed anythign on us but made sure we had a lot of options to choose what was best for us.
When my flowers arrived on the wedding day, they were gorgeous, better than I could have pictured them to be. I was very happy I chose her and the service she provided.

Shelly has been doing this for a long time and you can tell, she really knows her stuff and runs her company accordingly. She works with you to create your vision for your bouquet, reception and ceremony flowers. I was wowed when I saw the final product. It is very difficlut for me to find the perfect florist. I interview several, they are either too expensive or just does not seem to get their act together. Shelly had a detail list of showing me what I'll get. We also met several times as things get going. Ideas changed a littke and she is just super flexible and she knows her stuff which I appreciate. I just give her a few key ideas and images I like and let her do the rest! I recommend giving your floist some room for creativity and be flexible and think about replacement flowers if the weather is crazy like this year. The flowers were so pretty!! More than I ever expected. It has my cross in it and made it very personal. She even thought of an extra boutonniere for my husband for his "after hugs". And the momeral flower for my husband's mom at the gift table, he and his family were just so touched by it. Everythign went smoothly. My sister picked up the flowers and transported them with Shelly's instruction, everything turned out great!

Shelly did the flowers for our wedding this past weekend and they looked amazing. Our bouquets were beautiful and the centerpieces were exactly what we have envisioned! Everything held up beautifully and looked absolutely perfect. I don't think we could have asked for anything better, and we wouldn't have changed a thing.

Due to issues with another florist, we switched to Shelly at a somewhat "last-minute" timeline. She seemed to know exactly what we were looking for in the feel of the flowers, and she nailed it right on the head, and at a very reasonable price. We highly recommend her!!!

AMAZING WORK!! I probably visited Shelly 4-5 times to make arrangements and change them - but everything turned out PERFECT! I have been told so many times that my wedding was the most beautiful anyone had ever been to. Shelly's work is not the only amazing part of her service, but her prices are HALF of what a commercial florist would charge.

I can't say enough in praise of Shelly's Designs for the work she did for my daughter's wedding. The invitations were beautiful and fairly priced. Shelly was patient and knowledgable as she helped us with our ideas, then delivered beautiful, fresh, fantastic flowers for the wedding day.

Shelly's Design Florist service in Grand Rapids was great to work with. Shelly met with us and worked with us on what our budget was for my daughters wedding. The flowers were just what my daughter wanted. Shelly is very familiar with the different churches and reception sites so knows what you need. She took care of all the details and deliveries and contacted everyone at the locations so we didn't have to do anything. She was very professional and personable and did a great job for us. Everything was perfect. She gave me plenty of time to figure out the invitations on my own. I could borrow her books for short periods of time so I could go over them with my husband and family.

The flowers were wonderful. They looked classy, and she gave me excellent tips and information as I needed it along the way.

I also had a wedding planner. Shelly worked well with Mary and I basically had nothing to worry about the entire time.

My favorite thing was the work that she did. I got so many compliments on my flowers. Every time I look at my pictures, I'm satisfied with the great job that she did.

I would recommend her to even the toughest critic!

I have expensive taste with not a huge budget. Shelly worked with us and provided the most amazing flowers ever. My wedding photographer loved them so much (and let me tell ya, she has seen a few flowers) that she used sher as well. 3 1/2 years later I just got (yesterday) an email from my cousin who remembered how beautiful my flowers were, asking for her info. and she is booking her!

Knowing what we know now, we would encourage you to not even consider another florist for your wedding....Actually that was the word of mouth referral we received prior to our wedding and after sitting down with Shelly we didn't talk to anyone else. Very professional, lots of options, easy to work with and her arrangements were gorgeous. Just hurry up because she gets booked quickly. Thanks for all your help Shelly.

Shelly is AMAZING! I wanted a color combination that is not used much- red, purple, yellow- and I couldn't find any pictures of what I was envisioning in my head. Through meeting with Shelly, I knew that she would bring my visions to life! My flowers were GORGEOUS! Thats usually the first thing people comment on in my wedding pictures:) She has great attention for detail- all of our flowers were fresh, bloomed to just the right size, and lasted beyond the wedding night.

We were extremely pleased with the service that Shelly provided for us. She took the time to listen to what we were thinking and then came through with exactly what we were looking for. The bouquets were absolutely gorgeous,and she put the finishing touches on our table arrangements and our decor. We would highly recommend Shelly. She really is full of energy and excitement!

Shelly did a fantastic job on the floral arrangements for our wedding. Our reception location had its very own character and distinct coloring and Shelly was able to bring together the bridesmaids Indigo dresses with the dramatic reds of the restaurant. All we had to do was bring her a color swatch of the dresses and explain the atmosphere of the reception. The finished product was something straight out of a wedding magazine. Put simply, Shelly and her flowers were simply perfect.

Shelly was a dream to work with! Shelly was extremely flexible with scheduling meetings around our trips to Grand Rapids, and always easy to reach via phone or email. She had wonderful ideas and knowledge about wedding flowers. She really listened to our ideas and preferences, and made them into the most beautiful bouquets and decorations that I have ever seen. The flowers turned out more amazing than I ever could have imagined, and I know that we have Shelly and her hard work and dedication to thank. I would recommend Shelly without any hesitation that she is the best person for the job. Her work is simply gorgeous!!

Shelly did both of my daughter's weddings and we were delighted when our future daughter in law chose to use her as well. Shelly is incredibly creative, priced fairly and a true joy to work with. She is on-time, effecient, and very professional.

I've done at least five events with Shelly since 2000 and have never been disapointed with her quality of service or any of the arrangements she's done. I have no hesitations recommending her services, she does a fantastic job!

Shelly is an amazing designer who took my ideas and made them better than I could have imagined. She is so creative and really helped make my wedding unique and special. Shelly is very detailed-oriented and didn't miss any details. She is professional and friendly; very easy to work with. I definately feel that I got the most for my money. Everyone is still talking about how beautiful my decorations were! Her designs really set the tone for my wedding and reception exactly how I wanted it to. I would highly recommend Shelly, she is the best florist around!

I looked at a few florists for my wedding, but after meeting Shelly and seeing what she offered, I would not even consider anyone else. Shelly has more pictures than you can count to show the different flowers available. The pictures of her past wedding flowers don't even do justice. The flowers were extremely fresh, the colors were so bright and bold. The flowers were mentioned by so many people at the wedding and since then. I would definitely recommend her for any bride to be. The price I paid for my flowers was way below what you would expect after seeing the quality of them.

Shelly is an absolutley amazing florist, who will make your wedding floral envisionment come into reality! My breath was taken away when I saw my flowers and the bridesmaids flowers, they were the most beautiful flower bouquets I had seen out of the eight weddings I have attended over the past year. Her attention to detail is incredible, if you can not tell the bouquet in the picture also holds crystals, which was part of my wedding decor, yes it is my bouquet. I highly recommend her if you are looking for perfection!!!

Shelly was so flexible. I was planning my wedding from another state, and was only in town a few times and on weekends. She always made time to meet with me. Also, her prices were fantastic. She was within our budget and provided superior service, ensuring we got exactly what we wanted. The flowers were more beautiful than I ever imagined. Shelly was so easy to work with.
