Special Officiant who cares

Shauna was the perfect officiant throughout the entire planning process. You can tell she really cares about the people she works with. She starts the process with a phone conversation to help get to know the couple and explain next steps. Then, we filled out a short and easy to complete questionnaire which she uses to write a personalized love story. It was a very collaborative process and we were able to provide feedback on the love story and make it perfect for us. The most impressive part was her delivery during the ceremony. She has a calming presence and that really helps when you're up there reciting your vows. We loved her and you should not hesitate to use her for your wedding, we would book her again in a heartbeat! Shauna is an absolute must!

Shauna was an absolute gift in so many ways. My husband and I planned our own wedding of 160 people and what we thought to be simple was extremely difficult.
Shauna completely grabbed the wheel at times to assist us through the navigation of the most important part- The Ceremony.
She was fabulous and captured our story, our audience/guests and the it was just so beautiful There was not a dry eye during the entire ceremony!
I recommend her highly - you will not be disappointed.

Wedding Officiant

We couldn’t be happier with Shauna as the officiant at our wedding. From the beginning, her calming and caring personality made us feel at ease and definitely helped on our wedding day, which was one of the main reasons we chose her. We received so many compliments on the way she officiated, and it was so nice to work with her throughout the process of writing our ceremony from beginning to end. On your wedding day, you need as many reassuring people around you as possible, and Shauna was exactly that to the both of us. She speaks gently, but so that people listen and are drawn into the ceremony, and helps make sure everything is in place so the ceremony runs smoothly. It really was just beautiful and we can’t thank her enough .

When I was looking for a wedding officiant I was not sure where to begin or who to look for. I stumbled upon Shauna's profile and when I read her bio I immediately knew I had to call her and find out more. When speaking to her on the phone not only was she a pleasure to speak with but she explained everything in great detail and what needed to happen. I loved that she was accommodating to everything that we wanted for our wedding and always kept in contact with us. No matter how many questions or changes that needed to be made she was right there and as helpful as could be. She has a way of speaking that makes you feel very relaxed and I knew everything was going to run so smoothly and it did. Everyone at my wedding raved about how wonderful she was, her delivery and presence during the ceremony was amazing. Thanks to her help, guidance and skills we had a beautiful ceremony. My wife and I were in search for an officiant that would be able to conduct our non-denominational ceremony. After a few telephone conferences with other officiants, we spoke with Shauna. From the first conversation, to the pronouncement of man and wife, we could not have been happier with and more thankful for Shauna. Simply put, Shauna is warm, confident, thoughtful, committed, and someone that just got us. My wife and I wanted to perform a hand-fasting ceremony to acknowledge our Serbian and Scottish roots; no problem. Shauna was all over it with suggestions, options, instruction, etc. We wanted to have our two nieces and two nephews as our wedding party; no problem, Shauna walked through the ceremony with four kids in such a fun, kind and effective manner. We wanted to have someone tell our story; done, Shauna was meticulous in her preparation, follow-up phone calls to finalize the content (and last minute changes). On a personal note, Shauna was so special not only because of her warm, professional, and dedicated approach to making our ceremony the best it could be; but Shauna has an energy that my wife and I recognized from our first meeting. Hard to explain, but you will feel it when you meet her. Shauna is someone that you want guiding you through this very important part of your wedding day. With a steady hand, enthusiastic demeanor and professionalism; Shauna delivered in every way. Our ceremony was unique, fun and full of love and laughter. We highly recommend Shauna to any couple.

Both my husband and I highly recommend Shauna Kanter, Wedding Celebrant!

Shauna made our wedding day more than perfect and exceeded our expectations entirely. When my partner and I first met with her, we immediately felt a connection. It was as if we had known her for a long time. She gave us a fun assignment -- answering thoughtful questions about ourselves and our expectations of the big day. We had to fill the surveys out separately and not share our answers with each other. Then, Shauna wrote a beautiful ceremony, which we were able to read, edit, and review prior to the wedding. I should also mention that Shauna has a skillful way of nudging you to move towards the goal of the big day. If she needed us to share information in a timely way, she was proactive about getting in touch with us.

Our wedding was unique, as we didn't have the blessing of my partner's family. They did not attend the ceremony. We both had some important conversations with Shauna about how to navigate this in the writing of the ceremony. We wanted to acknowledge my husband's parents and their contribution to his life but in a way to not highlight the drama of their absence. Shauna brought a lot of empathy and sensitivity to this task. In the end, we had a marvelous celebration with all the people who love us and our story, which Shauna told so personally.

Evidently, Shauna is also a talented playwright and director. Her skill set in this area really pays off. She has professional knowledge of both how to write your story, but also how to stage it. After all, weddings are very theatrical events, and it's essential to have someone guiding you with these skills. She helped us coordinate the use of the outdoor wedding space at Woolverton Inn, planning out all the details (order of the wedding party, music coordination, speaking volume of both grooms, etc.). Shauna takes lots of time to interview the couple, craft a personal ceremony and delivers it with sincere joy.

My husband and I had one wish for our wedding: We wished for the day to be a celebration of our love and if our guests only remembered one thing from our wedding we wanted them to remember the ceremony. Thanks to Shauna we were able to achieve our dream! Our guests could not stop raving about the ceremony! Shauna was truly a pleasure to work with for as our wedding officiant. She communicated frequently to make sure we were on track in terms of our time management and provided us with many options for rituals and vows as well as a detailed ceremony script to work from. My husband and I made a lot of edits to the script and Shauna welcomed our input and was great to collaborate with. On the day of the wedding Shauna executed the ceremony to perfection and we received many compliments on her performance and style. Our ceremony was truly special and I will cherish it forever.

We had a tiny last minute wedding in the Catskills. It was less than a month before our wedding that we found and contacted Shauna. She wrote a beautiful and short ceremony, just like we wanted. She got there early and performed the ceremony beautifuly. She is very sweet and nice and we felt very comfortable with her. Shauna made our elopement so special! there are no words I can even come up with right now to explain how my husband and I feel! Loving, kind, sweet, outgoing, patient, respectful - and so much more! My husband and I got married in grand central station and for anyone who's ever been there knows how crazy and hectic it is of a place BUT Shauna's calming and mellow voice made it to where we just zoned out on one another and totally forgot where we were! Even before we got engaged, my now-husband and I knew EXACTLY how we wanted our ceremony to pan out; we wanted more of a spiritual one with little to no religious elements. Lucky for us, when the time came, we found Shauna who was more than willing to create the ceremony of our dreams WITH us...not FOR us.

The best part about the whole process (besides how professional, responsive, and sweet Shauna is) was that our ceremony was ours and ours alone; no one (and I'm talking no-one) had or will have the type of ceremony we did because we were the ones who created it!! If you are looking for someone who can really read you and your partner and help prepare a custom-made ceremony, you don't need to look any further than Shauna.

We can't tell you how many compliments we received on how beautiful and unique our ceremony was...and it's all thanks to our officiant, Shauna!

Shauna helped us create a customized ceremony and it turned out flawless. My husband and I knew we wanted something short yet meaningful. Neither one of us is very religious so to show respect for our parents who are, we needed a way to mention and include our families as much as possible. What I appreciate most about her is how she seamlessly coordinated many different personalities and people while we were rehearsing an hour before the wedding started! I remember getting very stressed out because no one was listening to directions and out of nowhere Shauna got everyone together and on point. She was professional and calm with managing our families, live musician, wedding coordinator, dj, and catering manager who all had a hand in the ceremony. I want to thank Shauna for helping us create a memorable day. People loved the ceremony and I think looking back it was my favorite part of the wedding.

Shauna Kanter makes it SO EASY to have a beautiful, personal wedding. She’s warm, friendly, patient, funny, and very, very good at what she does. If you have Shauna as your officiant, you can be confident that your wedding ceremony is going to be wonderful! She guided us through the process with a gentle, steady hand, and she made it fun. She spent enough time with us to really understand what we wanted so she could create something that was personal to us. She gave us a lot of ideas to choose from—and I’m not just talking about music and readings. We chose ring vows that were meaningful to us, and we chose rituals that we wanted—like giving roses to our families during the ceremony, planting a rose bush and watering it together, remembering our deceased loved ones—and then Shauna put it all together and edited it, and edited it, and edited it again, until it was exactly as we wanted. Shauna gave us a tailor-made wedding. Many friends have told us it was exceptional. One dear friend said she’d been to many, many weddings, and ours was one of the best. She said it touched her deeply and warmed her heart, and that every word was perfect from beginning to end. We felt that way, too. We both beam when we talk about it. We simply cannot recommend Shauna highly enough, and we cannot thank her enough for taking such good care of us, and for making our special day so—well, special!

Shauna was officiant for our wedding in Central Park Sunday October 12th. I can't imagine a better officiant than Shauna; she was friendly, very professional, quickly responded to emails, and took an interest in our story and helped make our vows and wedding personalized and special. Shauna put together our personal story into a beautiful ceremony. She arrived in Central Park before the ceremony to prepare, and helped us find the best location for the ceremony. As my (now wife) is from Japan, and her family attended, we hired a translator so that the family could clearly understand the details and subtleties in the vows as English is not their first language. This meant that Shauna had to go slowly with the ceremony and pause during the translation; this she did patiently and gracefully; I felt that she was very happy to be a part of it and make it a special day for everyone. I would highly recommend her as officiant - professional, courteous and considerate in every way. Thank you Shauna!

Shauna is amazing! From the first phone call I knew she was the perfect fit for our ceremony. Shauna has a calming effect on you and creates a relaxed atmosphere that really puts you at ease. We met in person and shared our love story with Shauna. She then did a fantastic job in 1) creating a detailed time line for us 2) writing a beautiful ceremony 3) being very open and responsive to any changes we had. The day of the wedding I was a nervous wreck. Once Shauna walked in I felt calm and in control of the day. She led a beautiful ceremony and my guests left talking about the ceremony (not just the reception!). I would recommend her to any couple. Shauna is a DOLL and is super patient, responsive and flexible. We had a small wedding and organized it remotely from Australia in just 2 weeks time. No processional, no DJ, no wedding party -- and she guided us along so that we could craft vows that were more in line with a comedy skit than a traditional wedding. She also let us edit her opening to feel like it was more "us". Furthermore, on the day of the wedding, we forgot the rings and she calmed us while one of us went to go grab them and made light of the situation. She was a fantastic officiant, incredibly compassionate and all around lovely to work with. I highly recommend her! PS - thank you so much!!

We could not have asked for more from a wedding officiant. From the start when we first met her, Shauna really won us over with her warmth and sense of humor. I had a hard time finding an officiant, and Shauna Kanter was sort of a last resort—I didn't know her or anyone she worked with: I found her during an online search, and decided to give it a shot. Well, it was the best decision I made... From the first email communication, through phone conversations and the entire process of writing the vows and editing them, Shauna was extremely professional, aware and sensitive to family dynamics and character and to the differences in communication between my husband and myself, and the result was a ceremony that was moving in its simplicity and honesty and as" close to home" as it could possibly be. If I had to do this again, I would not change a thing.

Shauna worked us to create a beautiful wedding. From our first contact with her she was warm and calming. As a same-sex couple (two grooms) we did not have a long history of wedding tradition to fall back on. With Shuana, we developed a ceremony that called on some traditional aspects while also recognising what makes us as individuals, and as a couple, unique.

She listened to our history to interpret our "love story", she worked with us to develop our vows and she included parts that made our guests feel welcome and part of the ceremony. We really enjoyed working with her. She was an oasis of calm in the long process of planning and executing a wedding.

After being together for nearly four years, my partner Martin and I decided to officially tie the knot in New York City. After reviewing and communicating with many of the officiants on wedding wire, we decided to ask Shauna to officiate our ceremony. We couldn't have made a better choice. Shauna was extremely professional yet very easy to talk to and plan with. We had very little experience with New York's venues, but Shauna provided very helpful advice which helped make our big day extremely special. We had high expectations for our ceremony and Shauna met and exceeded each expectation. The ring vows that Shauna had provided us were some of the most beautiful vows that I have ever heard she conducted the ceremony as though she had known us for years. I would recommend Shauna without reservation to anybody who is planning on getting married in the New York area.

Shauna not only served as our officiant, but our wedding planner/wedding hero! We planned our wedding from Louisiana, so she was our eyes, ears and all-around go-to person to pull together a beautifully staged venue and ceremony! The ceremony was heartfelt, funny, engaging and perfectly executed. It was as-if we had known each other for years...not just in the many phone calls along the way. She captured our love in her words and was, without a doubt, meant to be in our lives and part of our big day. 20+ family members and friends traveled to NY to witness our wedding and rave reviews of the ceremony were plentiful. From one of the wedding guests..."Hands down best wedding I've been to!" We couldn't agree more, but we're a little biased. Make the phone call and talk to Shauna. Shauna worked with us to develop a personal ceremony. She was incredibly responsive and organized and made sure that we had the ceremony and vows complete in advance. We went back and forth on drafts 3 or 4 times until we had it just right, and Shauna was very responsive each time. We picked Shauna over other officiants because of her organization and attention to detail but also because of her manner -- when we met her she was happy and vibrant and so pleasant to be around. Her voice is just lovely and we knew that her personality and presentation would create the warm, personal ceremony we wanted for us and our guests. We highly recommend Shauna if you want to create a personal ceremony that is all your own and not worry about any details with your officiant!

Shauna was great throughout the entire process. She was always quick to respond to our questions and concerns and very receptive to our personal needs. She provided us with a great frame to structure our wedding vows.

My husband and I had a ceremony at the Boat House in Central Park on Valentine's Day. We had made sure everything was set up with the management beforehand, but were still met with some resistance from the general manager once we arrived. Shauna quickly intervened in the conversation and diffused the situation very kindly as well as with our best interests in mind. She is a pro!!!

She was well-organized and performed a beautiful and an intimate ceremony, with her lovely voice :), that everybody loved..

We recommend her to everyone..

Shauna did a wonderful job officiating our wedding! She was professional but also warm. When we first were considering Shauna, we emailed and then Skyped to get to know one another. Then she sent us a questionnaire to fill out and a collection of vows and readings to look through. We had a bump in the road in our planning process, as the first draft we received was not at all what we were expecting. However, when we spoke and explained what we felt was missing and needed to be reworked she was incredibly receptive and worked to make our ceremony exactly what we wanted it to be. When we got the next draft- it was perfect. Shauna did a wonderful job. We were so happy with our ceremony.

I contacted Shauna about my wedding approximately 1 month before our wedding. She was very responsive and took the time to meet with me before she headed off to vacation.

As a person that was rushed for time, she helped us customize a ceremony that was beautiful. She helped us write our own vows and find a ritual to perform for us at a reasonable price.

Someone described our ceremony as magical. While a lot of things went into making it a perfect day, Shauna was a big part of it.

She worked with us over a period of months to write a very personal ceremony. Then on the wedding day, she showed up well organized and with purpose (which I like). She immediately had me point out all of the pre-defined important people for the ceremony (best man, maid of honor, parents, etc) and made sure everyone had there cues. She also met with the band and made sure they had their cues. She then performed a beautiful ceremony that everyone loved. She definitely knows what she is doing.

We were looking for someone who could provide a non-religious ceremony that spoke about our commitment to each other, and who could provide a personalized ceremony. Shauna met with me (unfortunately my husband couldn't attend due to work at the last minute), and she spent the time to listen to how we met, what kind of ceremony we wanted, if we wanted to add any traditions or readings. She gave great advice, and then even skyped with us after the initial meeting so that she could get my husband's feedback as well. Everyone said they loved how honest the ceremony was, including our vows, and how natural and about us it was. They appreciated the personalization of it & many said it made them tear up. So, very successful and beautiful, plus I heard after that she was very helpful to my husband when he was getting stressed about what to do with himself when I was running late to the ceremony! So - thank you Shauna for taking care of my husband that day :)

When my wife and I first met with Shauna, we knew we'd found our officiant. She was very warm and funny and most of all, she was extremely professional and very organized. She listened to our ideas and was able to piece together the personalized, intimate ceremony we wanted. She was great to work with and was very accessible and collaborative throughout the entire process. Don't be a fool and hire Shauna.

Shauna did a BEAUTIFUL ceremony! She did a perfect job! We got compliments all night long about how touching and full of love and warmth our ceremony was. We really appreciated her professionalism and amazing execution of the best night of our lives! I would recommend her to anyone I can.

We could not have asked for a more perfect ceremony. Shauna was extremely professional from start to finish. She worked with us in the months leading up to our wedding, connecting with our story so that she could personalize our experience. She listened carefully and provided exactly what we wanted, which in our case was a brief but intimate secular ceremony. Shauna was emotionally invested but completely composed and articulate, maintaining a distinctly personal feel. There was not a dry eye in the house. Shauna was able to meet our particular needs while making us feel welcomed, special, and as though we were in the hands of a total professional.

Shauna did an amazing job with our ceremony. So many people told us that they loved the ceremony and asked us how we found her. They said the ceremony was touching and sincere and just the right length. It meant so much to Joe and me to have a ceremony that was so "us." We will remember it for the rest of our lives.

I would definitely qualify myself as an anxious bride! I wanted things in a very specific way, which is why I feel absolutely blessed that I found Shauna! Poor thing went through 7 drafts of my ceremony with me until I felt totally calm and comfortable - such a saint! We both spent quality time getting to know each other over the phone, which was also incredibly helpful for me. She took what I had in mind and incorporated exactly everything I asked for. She even created such a beautiful love story of how I met my husband - people were absolutely blown away.

You rarely hear from your guests that your ceremony is the most memorable, romantic experience they've ever witnessed and I heard that throughout the entire evening of my wedding and ever since. You will not be disappointed - Shauna is amazing!

I surprised my husband this year with a vow renewal in Central Park. We were visiting NYC from Australia for only a week and as he was working during some of this time I only had limited time and days to organise our renewal. I contacted Shauna and was impressed and grateful for her prompt and professional response.

Shauna was always obliging to answer my questions and concerns even when she herself was in the middle of Hurricane Sandy. There are no words to express my gratitude to a very special lady who helped make one of our dreams come true. I would highly recommend Shauna exceptional service to anyone wishing to marry or renew their vows.

My husband and I spent a significant amount of time in selecting our wedding officiant...as we spent a lot of time with every aspect of our big day. The most important thing to us was having a day that was as personal as possible. Because we are not part of any church, we did not have an easy "go to" person to officiate our wedding. We met and chatted with several different people, trying to find someone who was willing to go that extra mile to get to know us and our needs. When we first spoke with Shauna on the phone, we spent over an hour just getting to know each other, and what we were hoping for. Never once did we feel rushed or that we had unrealistic expectations, or that we were being judged for not having a specific religious belief.
I knew immediately upon hanging up with Shauna, that she was "the one"! We spent months communicating back and forth, working on the ceremony. She never seemed annoyed or frustrated with our changing of drafts, or additions and subtractions, and I feel like this communication also aided in us getting to know each other as well!
The week before the wedding, the weather looked like it was going to rain on our outdoor wedding ceremony, and I was in an all-out-panic. After speaking with Shauna, and having a mini freak out, she re-assured me that everything would work out, and no matter what, she would be totally flexible with whatever last minute adjustments need to be made. Not only was she flexible, and so accommodating, she did it all with a smile on her face and a calm in her voice. We were so fortunate with all of the people we selected as "vendors" for our big day, but Shauna is truly amazing. She is friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and I believe truly loves what she does. I understand she may be more expensive than your local judge, but every cent is worth it if you are looking for someone who is willing to go the extra mile and do a fantastic job!

With so many details to attend to and very little time to plan our wedding, it was a joy and a total relief for us to find Shauna. My husband and I had less that 5 months to plan our wedding. By the time we got serious about finding someone to marry us, we were 2 months away from the bid day! From the moment that Shauna and I first spoke I felt confident we'd be in great hands. She was very clear about the process involved and sounded very friendly. We booked our meeting with her and on a rainy day in NYC and came away excited about how meaningful and personalized our ceremony could be! The questionnaire and vow writing was a really profound experience for both Nik and I and with Shauna's help we truly had created a ceremony that we loved. On wedding day, the reality of how this ceremony she performed for us - which we created together - impacted ourselves, our friends and our family... well, it really was an incredible once in a life time beautiful experience!

We could not be more grateful that we hired Shauna to officiate our ceremony. We live in Florida but were getting married in NYC and she went above and beyond to accommodate us, even Skyping us and setting things up from afar. From the beginning, she was warm, compassionate and so lovely to work with. She took the time to understand us, had us fill out information about ourselves and each other so that she could better understand us as a couple, and when possible, met with us in the city to go over all information. She was thorough and detailed and we couldn't have asked for a better reflection of us then what Shauna created for our ceremony. Guests came up to tell us how much they loved the ceremony and how personal it was. This was because of Shauna's words and her character. We highly recommend her.

Shauna served as the officiant for our August 2010 wedding. Her insight was helpful from the start; at our initial consultation, she suggested the perfect spot in Central Park for our 40-person ceremony. She provided some structure to the service by giving us examples to work with, but then let us loose to modify those templates and create our own text. She was approachable and easy to contact with lots of back and forth as we worked through our drafts, and she handled license and other administrative details with ease. All of our wedding plans were conducted online, as I reside in OH and my (now) wife is working overseas. I found Shauna via a basic search for an officiant who was experienced in non-religious ceremonies, as we desired no such allusions to religion in our ceremony. She was very friendly and accommodating to our limited availability prior to the ceremony. We sent her our vows, and chose a template for the ceremony from her recommendation with a couple of tweaks for personalization. Shauna arrived in the park for the ceremony and just so happened to be wearing what had been our desired colors. The ceremony was very small and intimate, with only a handful of our friends and family able to attend. She was very professional and conducted the ceremony exactly as promised. I would insist that anyone I knew getting married in or around the NYC area use Shauna.

My wife and I were married by Shauna this past August. I must say, the day went off without a hitch. We were lucky that venue where we got married (Onteora Mountain House-beautiful place) suggested Shauna, as we couldn't have found a more perfect officiant. We initially had a conference call with Shauna, and we both agreed she had the warm, caring vibe that we wanted. Shauna has extensive experience in theatre/stage management, so she is well spoken and very organized! She gave us a very detail oriented schedule of how the ceremony would go, maybe even more detailed than we needed (our wedding was pretty simple :) but it was great....everyone knew what to do. Shauna gathered the info we gave her, put it together in a way that flowed very nicely, and she didn't get too weirded out when we requested that she mention our legendary "pizza parties".
On the day of the wedding, she arrived promptly, was wearing a nice dress and looked very pretty, which is good because she's in a lot of pictures! Shauna is the best! We highly recommend her services!

Shauna Kanter was recommended to my husband Bill and me by the Special Events coordinator at our wedding venue, Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Shauna was a perfect fit for us. She spent time getting to know both of us. She asked thoughtful and thought provoking questions to understand not only what type of ceremony we wanted but to have us articulate what we wanted our friends and family to experience through our wedding ceremony. Shauna Kanter officiated the wedding ceremony for my partner and I this past May. From the moment that we first contacted Shauana, we found her to be warm, caring, and very professional. She was very flexible in arranging times to meet with us, and held our hands in helping us to write our vows by asking insiteful questions, carefully listening, and making sure to fully understand what was imporatnt to us, and our families. Her attentiveness to detail made sure that everything went smoothly and nothing was overlooked.

The experience can be best summed up by a comment from my mother - she wondered why more weddings couldn't be as intimate and as lovely as what we experienced with Shauna.

Shauna Kanter helped make our wedding ceremony absolutely perfect. The ceremony turned out just as we had envisioned it. We received so many compliments on how lovely and personal the ceremony was. One guest (who knows us less well than most of the other guests) commented that she cried during our ceremony because it was so beautiful; she did not even cry at some of her best friends weddings. We met Shauna via Email and Skype. I was in Akron, Ohio and my wife to be was in Japan. Shauna helped us plan our wedding ceremony and it went way beyond what we expected. She helped with difficult choices and guided us to include all that we wanted in the ceremony. She was kind, clear-headed and on the day we were so crazy nervous and she was our calm reference point....

Shauna Kanter, our wedding celebrant, exceeded our expectations and brought a special energy to our wedding ceremony. Even after just speaking on the phone, I had a feeling that she was the perfect officiant/wedding celebrant for us, and once my then-fiance and I met with her in person, he couldn’t agree more. Shauna exudes a personable and warm energy, which was important to us in creating the kind of intimate, personalized ceremony we sought. She also has the experience, confidence and vocal presence to embody such a significant role that can influence the tone of the entire wedding day. Shauna asked my fiance and I to each complete her questionnaire, detailing everything from how we met and what we love about each other to the vows and specific traditions and wording we wanted included, and she then wrote our personalized love story, around which she formed the ceremony. She was very open to our editing and very detailed in all aspects of planning surrounding the logistics of the ceremony, and we are so thrilled to have chosen Shauna to be part of our day. So many of our guests commented that she, with her warm and composed energy made the ceremony so special and unique to us as a couple. We are pregnant and Shauna will be doing our baby naming ceremony. We loved working with her. We got so many compliments and so many of our friends loved the ceremony. Shauna made our ceremony special and completely unique, she was there at every step of the way, gently advising us and leading us with a great deal of patience and compassion. During the ceremony people laughed, they cried and we truly celebrated our wedding in just the way we wanted to. Shauna created exactly what we wanted. Shauna was extremely professional; she was fun to work with, very organized and guided us in ways we couldn't have even known about. shauna came very highly recommended to us by my dear friend Amy. And we were so happy to have taken that suggestion.As a same sex couple we were a bit hesitant at first , but shauna captivated us from our first conference call.

We had a great experience with Shauna. She was warm and welcoming from the beginning and we couldn't have been happier with our wedding. She took the time to get to know us and find out what was important to us for the ceremony. Shauna Kanter is a wonderful Celebrant. She helped to craft our ceremony and make it our own. During the ceremony writing process, she was very patient and helpful. She worked with us on each draft until our ceremony was perfect. At the actual wedding, she handled the marriage license process seamlessly. Her delivery of our ceremony was also wonderful -- Shauna has a very calming and charming delivery style. I heard nothing but great things from our guests! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a highly personalized ceremony.

We chose Shauna because we wanted to craft a ceremony that was "us". Shauna definitely delivered for us. From the beginning, she was very warm and friendly. She worked with us to get our ceremony details correct and was receptive to any changes we wanted to make to her drafts.

We were very pleased with our light-hearted, touching, and short-but-sweet ceremony. Shauna did a great job putting it all together and giving us everything we had envisioned for our ceremony and more.

Shauna officiated our ceremony with an authenticity and spirit that set the perfect tone for our outdoor wedding in Prospect Park. She made things extremely easy for us, from the writing of the vows to the day-of ceremony. And it wasn't just us who were impressed with her poise and delivery, our guests raved about her too.

Shauna was a pleasure to work with and made us feel extremely comfortable right away which is why we didn't look further. Our ceremony was beautiful and we were not interested in writing our own vows so she gave us several options to choose from and helped us customize it. She took all the stress away and I knew I could count on her to help our ceremony run smoothly. She has a great personality. I highly recommend her. The only thing I would point out is that she added a little bit more to her fee once she found out we were getting married at a restaurant because she felt in her experience, there is no real "coordinator" at a restaurant and she ends up having to be a coordinator in addition to officiant. I felt this was odd and actually, the staff at our venue couldn't have been more professional and took care of everything. However, it wouldn't stop me from shouting her praises!

I would recommend Shauna to anyone who is after a stress ceremony!

As we are from Australia and married in New York, it was really important for us to know that everything was organized in advance. Shauna was great and made herself availabe via Skype and was really quick at responding to emails to answer all of our questions (big and small)

Shauna has the ability to make you feel instantly at ease & like you had known her for a long time. Our ceremony was just as we had imagined it to be and Shauna really helped make it special.

We loved having Shauna as our officiant/celebrant. She was fantastic! Very organized and kept us on task. The ceremony was just as we had hoped and Shauna really helped it come to life. She is thoughtful, articulate, and professional. Could not have picked a better officiant!

Shauna did an incredible job as our officiant. She took time to help us craft our entire ceremony - from the readings, to the exchanges, to the vows. She provided numerous examples and also helped us edit and write our own ideas. She was fantastic, friendly and always responsive. She will get to know you and adapt her style, speaking and tone to the type of wedding you are looking for. Again, she was great to deal with. Also, very flexible - we had a last minute time change and she just rolled with it.

A true pro - was more helpful than the wedding planner was at our wedding day. Can't recommend her highly enough!

We loved how Shauna guided us through the process of preparing for our wedding . She has a very personal approach that made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. The result was a ceremony just how we had hoped it would be- even better in fact- and all our guests told us after how much they loved it !!
Shauna is a very warm, expressive and personable lady with a lot of creative thoughts and suggestions that turned out all to be very valuable contributions to a fantastic ceremony. Highly recommended !!

Shauna officiated my wedding on 10/06/12. We chose her because my husband and I are two different religions and were looking to customize a ceremony that would represent both of us. From the beginning, Shauna was very warm, flexible and helpful. She provided a ton of options of readings, ceremony structure, vow samples and traditions etc. that we were able to use to develop our own ceremony. I especially appreciated that she worked with us during the few months before the wedding to write, and re-write, our ceremony. With each step, we were given the opportunity to edit, re-write, include updates to our preferences. In the end, quite a bit of the ceremony she read was very personal and written in a style that was very much our personality. We got several compliments during the reception regarding how personal the ceremony was and how much our guests enjoyed it - especially when, unfortunately, that isn't always the part that most guests enjoy.

Overall, we were very happy with our services. I think if I could comment on anything that was "concerning" (especially having read the few negative comments posted previously) would be her responsiveness and/or her organization. She seemed very organized - but yes, we went over things several times just to be sure we were all on the same page. This is exactly what I'd expect her to do given the seriousness of her job. I, like many other brides, definitely got stressed as the date grew closer - but this is when her responsiveness and frequency of contact increased. Just because you don't hear from her every day or within 24 hours doesn't always mean you're not on her radar. If your wedding is months out, or she's got other weddings with closer dates, I think it's fair to assume that she's more responsive to those brides first.

Bottom Line: No regrets. We got exactly the ceremony we wanted and she delivered the ceremony perfectly.

Shauna was truly a delight to work with. She was very timely and wrote a thorough and warm ceremony script. She was cognizant of our feelings and any nerves we had before the event and made us feel calm beforehand. We'd highly recommend her as a reliable wedding officiant!

Shauna was a fantastic officiant for our non-religious ceremony and wrote a beautiful introduction to us on our big day. She really captured everything about us in a few short paragraphs. She was so amazingly accommodating with all of our requests (e.g. nothing religious, keep it short, but still personal). So many of our guests told us how much they actually enjoyed the ceremony-part of the wedding (and no one ever likes that part!). She even came to CT and did a rehearsal for us. So flexible !

We used Shauna for our 2013 wedding. She did our ceremony and fumbled most important words about my mother who has passed. Her main goal was getting paid then left. She was ok but not great and not what I expected. Felt like more of a job rather than a personal story which was what our goal was.

Do Not Hire Shauna

Hiring Shauna for our marriage ceremony was the worst decision and I do not recommend working with her. We decided to reschedule our wedding because of the pandemic, and when we started choosing new dates for a small “micro wedding”, Shauna would not tell us if she was comfortable or not performing the ceremony. She left us completely in limbo.

We asked Shauna to please let us know if she was uncomfortable performing the ceremony so we had time to find someone else. We understand that in August some people were still worried about the virus. She did not answer a single email closer to our wedding date. We were scrambling to find someone else in time.

We also lost a $200 deposit. Her contract (that she and I both signed) says that if she does not perform the ceremony, she will find a replacement and the deposit will go toward the final cost. None of that happened and we lost our money. At one point she said that money went toward putting the ceremony together. I had a ceremony layout ready before I hired her. Cutting and pasting the vows I wrote myself in a Word document is not worth $200. We also paid a travel fee on top of that, and obviously she did not travel anywhere.

Re-planning a wedding during a pandemic is hard enough, but when one of your vendors completely ignores all of your attempts to reach out to her, it makes the situation so much worse.

Overall, Shauna is extremely unprofessional. My reason for writing this review is so nobody has to go through what Shauna put us through.
