Pandemic Perfection

Katherine was simply phenomenal to work with during our whole wedding planning process, but went the extra mile to make sure my husband and I, our guests, our vendors, and their staff were comfortable and safe during our pandemic wedding in July. She arranged our COVID seating well ahead of time AND texted photos of what it would look like. She's so friendly and responsive, and I'm so glad we were able to still have a beautiful, safe wedding at Semple.

the perfect wedding venue!

SEMPLE MANSION:
I got married in early November and the mansion was cozy and charming while also being so elegant. I planned my wedding from a different state and Katherine (the ) was amazing at responding to my million questions and worries. Semple’s staff is hands on and makes the day run so smoothly. I went with the in-house decor vendor (Positively Charmed), which was so beautiful. I can’t recommend enough!

Stunning Venue

My husband and I are so lucky to have been able to be married at the Semple Mansion. Katherine and her staff are top notch and excellent at what they do. Our wedding day was perfect and we got comments from all of our guests about the venue and how amazing it is! My only frustration was that they are allowed (states in the contract you sign) to show off the venue to prospective customers during your wedding day up until noon. So that was a little annoying when we were trying to get everything set up. Other than that- we had a wonderful time. Perfect venue.

Getting married at the mansion wasn't the plan until we walked in. Then we couldn't picture our day anywhere else. Katherine and Breanna were great. The mansion is absolutely stunning. Every angel every room every season. If you want an entire place with lots of rooms all for you, this is it. It's old, its stylish, its GORGEOUS. It has a personality all it's own. The vibe was so on point for our theme. Nowhere could have been it but there. It has a library for quite conversation and cake, a big bar for socializing and drinking, a beautiful and ornate ballroom for dancing or eating or both! The staircase will take your breath away its perfection for pictures and for that big moment when your guests first see you. There's a billiards room so the boys have something to do and don't get into too much trouble. And a bridal suite that is so bridal! This place is pricey but that's because it's perfect.

Having our wedding at Semple Mansion was the BEST decision we could have made. The mansion itself is stunning and perfectly matched our Gatsby-inspired wedding vision. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was and how perfectly intimate our 183+ wedding felt (which can be a hard thing to pull off in many other venues). Plus, the price is definitely reasonable and they offer 10 different catering options, in addition to allowing mansion access (throughout the entire mansion) all day long. One major reason we chose Semple over other mansions is because they didn't nickel and dime us for "extra hours" before 3pm - instead, their rate was up front and 100% fair, which we really appreciated. Beyond that, the staff (especially Katherine!) was phenomenal. They were incredibly helpful with any questions we had, and throughout the entire night, Katherine was there to lend a hand. Plus, the transitions between floors for different parts of the evening was flawless. Our wedding was absolute perfection and we highly recommend Semple to anyone looking for a venue!!

The Semple Mansion was the perfect venue for my daughters November wedding. It is romantic and historical, not to mention absolutely gorgeous. We had the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, dance all in one location. Our guests loved not having to travel place to place, and we were able to use the entire mansion. The bridal suite is perfect for a large party to get ready, the wine grotto is so unique and the ballroom..just gorgeous. Katherine and Laura are very professional and answer questions in a timely manner. We have only positive things to say. The staff and the Semple Mansion made Paige and Logans day one to remember.

I loved Semple Mansion from the moment I saw it. There is a grand opulence to the venue. Katherine was absolutely fantastic in answering emails and helping us with details leading up to the big day. Laura was so helpful the day of the wedding and truly went out of her way to make our day special. It was especially nice to be able to bring in our own alcohol, which was particularly important to my father, who wanted a specific type of wine. The Mansion is so gorgeous on its own that we didn’t really need to bring in too many additional decorations. It was wonderful to be able to have the entire Mansion to ourselves so the guests could wander to all the different floors and rooms. We were also impressed that there was an elevator for a handicapped relative and for transporting large items upstairs. The bridal suite and groom’s room are perfect for getting ready. We also purchased the lot across the street for guest parking, which made it easy for out of town guests. I highly recommend this venue!

Katherine was so accommodating to us and always willing to answer any silly questions at any time! She and her team made the entire booking, planning, and day of process for our wedding absolute perfection and easy as good be! The Semple Mansion was the most beautiful venue for my fall wedding, I couldn't imagine it anywhere else! Katherine was incredible and easy to work with! She was responsive, kind, and thoughtful throughout the entire planning process, as well as the day of. The bartenders the mansion supplied were also incredible and went way above and beyond to help serve guests and clean up at the end of the night.

Best location ever! They don't require to pick any specific caterer, nor do they have a minimum cost on food, drinks, etc. Katherine is such a delight to work with and very flexible with a bride's ever changing mind/details. All our guests said it was the best and most elegant wedding they have ever been to (and no alcohol was served - all reviews were sober :) ) and we did not have any decorations added to the Mansion, minus centerpieces. Piece of cake for any less creative bride like myself.

Was a dream cone true. The bridal suite was lovely. The men were three floors down so there was no chance of my husband seeing me vefore the ceremony. The stairs were scary but so worth it.

It was a dream wedding! Katherine was wonderful to work with and made it so easy for us! The mansion is gorgeous and has so much character that we didn't feel that we had to over decorate. The architecture is beautiful, so less is more. We loved that there were so many areas for our guests to see...main floor, wine grotto, lounge area and the ballroom. We took advantage of the grand piano and hired someone to come in and play for our cocktail hour. It was a magical night!

Absolutely in LOVE with everything about this venue! My guests all felt the same way! I had an amazing experience with Katherine and everyone at the Semple. Katherine kept in contact with me throughout the months, answered all of my questions efficiently, and allowed me to do drop by visits with barely any announcement! Don't let the cost scare you away, it is completely worth it! My one gripe is that only one bar service is allowed in to the mansion, Common Roots Catering, and we did not have a good experience with them. The alcohol provided was all local and we did not know any of it. We ended up being given the choice to pay outrageous stocking fees ($175 per beer!) to have Bud Light, Mich Golden, etc. and we weren't even guaranteed not to run out or pay for kegs ($400 per keg!). We weren't happy about that, hopefully Semple will allow other bars to cater in so that people have choices who to hire.

I am not exaggerating when I say my wedding at Semple Mansion was the most perfect day of my life. Katherine was phenomenal in working with us and was always willing to show us around "just one more time." My guests were raving about how beautiful the site was, and regardless of how many times I had been in Semple, it still took my breath away. I am so thankful that we had our wedding at Semple Mansion and I couldn't have imagined it being anywhere else. The vendors all knew what they were doing and where to go, so I was truly able to sit back, relax, and enjoy the day.

When I purchased my wedding dress at Semple Mansion (when Posh Bridal Couture was still there), I could only dream of having my wedding there. A few months later, my now husband and I took the leap and booked the mansion for our big day. From that moment on, I worked with Katherine, the Executive Director at the mansion. Working with her was phenomenal: every time we had a question, we only had to send her an email or call her to get a quick answer. She was great at reminding us of upcoming due dates for payments at the mansion itself, as well as getting updates on details from outside vendors (i.e. caterer, rentals, etc.). She was extremely patient with us as we got closer to the day of and had more and more questions. She updated the table layout at least three times for us and was very understanding to our changing needs. We couldn't have asked for someone better to work with through all of this.

Almost a year after signing our contact, the day of the wedding arrived. Katherine was there to help us with everything we could have possibly needed. The tables were already set up when we arrived. The transition from ceremony to cocktail hour on the first floor was quick and flawless. All of the staff on hand were great and mansion looked perfect.

Looking back, we can't imagine choosing a different venue for our wedding. Everything fell into place just perfectly and the day was amazing. We highly recommend working with Katherine and her staff at Semple Mansion if you want a wedding ceremony/reception in an old fashioned, Victorian-style, and romantic wedding!

Katherine and her staff were simply wonderful to work with. My mom and I would pop in on multiple occasions to see if certain small details we wanted would "work" with the venue. Even if we dropped in unannounced, Katherine was there with a smile and willing to show us the ballroom another time!

We heard nothing but wonderful feedback from our family and friends. Everyone said it was a wonderful wedding and a beautiful venue. We were married in October and I LOVED how the grand foyer and ballroom looked for our reception. It was sunset as our guests arrived and the mansion had such a warm and welcoming feel to it.

If I had to use one word to describe my wedding, it would be: perfect. And it is all thanks to Katherine and the beautiful Semple Mansion.

Phenomenal venue, Katherine is absolutely amazing to work with!! Highly recommend considering Semple Mansion as our day was PERFECT and our guests loved the beautiful, intimate atmosphere. Free parking is a plus considering it's location. The bridal suite was exactly what we needed for getting ready. The ballroom is one of a kind...stunning decor/chandeliers, great built in seating along the perimeter so guests are not limited to their tables, good acoustics for our DJ and slideshow. Could not be happier with our venue choice!

Words cannot express the flawlessness of this venue!!!! Everything everyone says about this place is true -- it is really THAT wonderful! The mansion is worth every penny as it truly provided a venue for both our ceremony & reception that was full of class. And the glory of the mansion is that it is already so beautiful that it is a turnkey operation --it really doesn't need any further decoration, which saves LOTS of money and effort -- and gives more time to add the personal touches that really matter :) Katherine & Sophia are absolute JOYS to work with -- they know their stuff and will customize the flow of the space to accommodate your vision. We had 185 attendees, and I was somewhat concerned about space, but it turned out to be a non-issue -- & what's more, many of our guests complimented us on the "intimacy" of our venue! It was perfect. It became a joke throughout the evening on how many times we said, "perfect." HIGHEST recommendation for the Semple Mansion!!!!

Everything was great about the Mansion- including the staff, especially Katherine. The only two things I could critique was that the curtains to the bridal boutique were not closed on the wedding and this really bugged me as the bride. I'm sure the guests did not notice, and that was not the fault of the mansion! Also, it was really hot but that will happen when there are 210 + people in a place. It was a beautiful wedding, a beautiful space, and the staff was so so helpful. I fully recommend it.

Our family had a wonderful experience @ the Semple Mansion. The staff was incredible with hospitality. They were very kind, attentive, congenial, professional, and worked very hard to fulfill your wishes. Kathryn and Sophia worked as a team and represented each other with dignity and grace. The entire day from morning til midnight was magical. We loved the mansion and its beauty and splendor. The bridal suite was especially enchanting and sweet for the bridal party to prepare for the ceremony. The guests were completely inspired by the immediate beauty of the venue. We also loved the ease of the reception being in the ballroom. It too was magnificent, gorgeous, and lovely! We have absolutely no regrets to share about the Semple Mansion. Truly divine!

Absolutely Phenomenal Venue! Everyone kept saying how beautiful the Mansion was...it was the perfect reception venue. Katherine was also great to work with.

The only down side was that the dance floor was hot but then again when you have over a 100 people dancing and having a blast it was only to be expected!

We would recommend The Semple Mansion to everyone!!! If we had ten thumbs we would put them all up!!!

I can't say enough great things about the Semple. The venue is so incredibly gorgeous and has a perfect space for every part of the wedding. The ladies loved getting ready in the bridal suite and the groomsmen in the billiards room. Guests really enjoyed the convenience of having the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in one venue. The transition from ceremony to cocktail hour in the foyer/wine vault to dinner upstairs in the ballroom is seamless.

The staff at the Semple is phenomenal. I had about 800 questions leading up to the wedding and both Katherine and Sophia were incredibly prompt in getting back to me. There are so many details to keep track of and plan so their quick responses were so helpful. They are total pros in every way!

One perk of using the Semple is getting to bring in your own alcohol. All we had to worry about was delivery of the beer and wine and the Semple bar staff took over from there.

We had an absolutely beautiful and memorable wedding day and would highly recommend the Semple mansion!

Katherine was wonderful. She is very good at her job and you can tell she enjoys it. Our wedding was perfect. I realize this is the response people are looking for, but honestly things could not have been better. My wife Sarah and I are still beaming and we were married a week ago. Katherine at Semple Mansion was amazing to work with. She was always available, attentive to our needs, and a fun person to work with. She made things seem easy. The Semple Mansion is such a beautiful space, and so dynamic. We held both our ceremony and reception there and were thrilled with the outcome of the entire day. We opted not to hold our ceremony on the foyer level as is generally done, but used the ballroom instead. We couldn't have imagined a more perfect space for our ceremony--the ballroom is gorgeous and was large enough to hold our 200+ guests, but still felt quite intimate. Katherine (and our caterer--3 Sons) took our desire to use the ballroom for the ceremony in stride, and were able to flip the room from ceremony to dinner during our cocktail hour! We held our cocktail hour on the foyer level and in the wine cellar--our guests loved the opportunity to explore the space.

Katherine is great to work with! Every vendor we worked with said the same when they learned which venue we had selected. She and her assistant Sophia are very fun and refreshingly energetic, but also know how to efficiently and effectively execute an event. They were integral in the success of our wedding. They know their venue, and how to best use it. They also quickly and gracefully solved any problems that arose.

Given the opportunity to do it all over again, we would select the Semple Mansion (and Katherine and Sophia) again, without a doubt!

After scouring the Twin Cities, we concluded that the Semple Mansion was a perfect fit. All of our expectations were met and in many ways exceeded. Katherine and Sophia at the Semple Mansion do an AMAZING job. We loved working with them, our parents loved working with them and ALL of our vendors told us they love working with them. Katherine is very fun, helpful and experienced. She was able to give us great, personalized advice and communicated all details very effectively. We cannot tell you how many times we were told that "THIS is the best wedding I have ever been to", and we know that a big reason for that is because the classy, elegant and charming atmosphere provided by this venue cannot be matched by anything in Minnesota.

The Semple Mansion was a simply perfect choice for our wedding. Katherine was a joy to work with, and she was so attentive to our needs. She answered all of my questions with patience and kept track of our entire wedding plans with thorough detail. I loved working with her!

We received compliments from all of our guests about how beautiful the venue was, and how great it was to have the ceremony and reception all in this gorgeous facility. The Wine Grotto was amazing and everyone loved it! Everyone told me how unique our wedding was! Personally, I enjoyed having the entire facility for the whole day to prepare for our wedding. It was wonderful to have the Bridal Suite for the ladies and the Billiards Room for the guys to get ready. The entire place is just gorgeous!

It was an amazing day, and I could not have asked for a better venue or better service from Semple Mansion. If you have the opportunity to have your wedding here, DO IT!

The Semple Mansion was a dream come true for our wedding! We chose this venue because of it's absolute beauty (and it also meant that little to no decorating had to be done! The mansion is gorgeous on it's own). Katherine was very easy to work with and on top of every detail. We also liked the fact that the ceremony and reception could be at the same venue, thus subtracting travel time and the headaches that go along with that. The night ran smoothly and was a huge success! Our high expectations were exceeded at every turn.

The Semple Mansion is just incredible. We received so many compliments! Katherine and crew were fabulous. Semple recommends "preferred vendors" and for almost everything, we contracted with one of those vendors. All of them blew way past our expectations to create a gorgeous look. We got a lot of bang for our buck with all the vendors we worked with through Semple. They are all so professional and diligent with great working relationships. It was amazing how on the same page everyone was. Katherine was so accomodating prior to the wedding - we were able to visit the venue several times and show family and friends. The floors were just refinished prior to our wedding which added to the mansion's elegance and ambience. We had about 100 people attend, and it was the perfect space to host that size group. Very intimate - the building and the staff really allow you to combine a casual atmosphere without clashing with the sophisticated decor. We would recommend the Semple Mansion without hesitation!!

The most amazing venue I have ever seen. It was like a fairytale. Katherine was so great and helpful. Our day went just as planned. The lighting made very nice photos too. Couldnt be happier with our choice of venue!!

Semple Mansion is hands down one of the most romantic & intimate setting for a wedding and reception! I highly recommend having both ceremony and reception there! Getting Married in a Mansion is such a beautiful experience! The Guests felt so involved with the ceremony, because they weren't in a big church. Reception was a amazing as well! The beautiful way the mansion is designed for receptions is so cozy and fun! My guests could not stop complementing the location! Everyone loved it!

The Beautiful photo opportunities that the Semple mansion has are SO breathtaking. My Photography (jen wheller with Serendipity Photography) did such an amazing job... the photos would have not been nearly has romantic or beautiful with out the BEAUTIFUL SEMPLE MANSION!

Last Katherine executive director of Semple Mansion, was AMAZING!! She was unbelievably helpful with everything! She really went out of her way to make me and my husband feel so comfortable (and loved) and it didn't stop there my parents were so happy with her as well, she was so helpful with all the little things!! I cannot thank Katherine enough for doing such a great job!

That is so funny that the previous bride said that about Katherine, because we found the exact opposite to be true. She helped me out in so many ways, from helping with vendors load in the elevator, to making sure the restrooms looked immaculate throughout the evening. And she did everything with a smile on her face! I would HIGHLY recommend the Semple Mansion, and I was also highly impressed with their bar service, it was first class, Cheryl (the bar manager) was great to deal with. The other vendor that really stood out to me was Russell's Catering, all of our guests thought the food was superb!! I only wish our limo driver would not have been late picking us up, it was cold outside,..oh' well.

The Semple Mansion has no competition, no other venue site even comes close. Our entire evening was magical from start to finish. I would highly recommend 'Semple',...you deserve it!

As a walked down the isle and looked around at the crystal chandeliers, rich walnut woodwork, hand painted fresco chandeliers, and I saw the look in my husbands eyes, I knew I picked the right place for my wedding. Since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to get married in a mansion. This far exceeded my dreams, they have a 'real' ballroom, that all 221 of my guests danced the night away. I would not change one thing about this magical evening. And because we could bring in our own caterer it was more affordable than most places, especially if you do a Friday or Sunday.

The Semple Mansion was the perfect setting for my wedding! Though at first I was hesitant to spend nearly $5,000 for the space alone, in the end I am SO happy I did. I cannot imagine getting married anywhere else. Katherine was great to work with. She was very professional and helped preparation (and the wedding evening) run smoothly. I could not have asked for a better venue for my wedding. The Semple Mansion is well worth the money.

We had our Reception at the Semple Mansion and were very pleased with everything. The day went off with out a hitch. Katherine the Mansion Coordinator was great to work with and always got back to me right away to answer any questions I had. The mansion is beautiful and worth every penny. I reccommend the Semple Mansion to every couple with a wedding in their future.

We toured 8 different wedding venues, but from the moment we walked into Semple Mansion, we were sold. The space is truly stunning, and it provided the perfect setting for our January wedding. There are lots of unique nooks and crannies, both for the bridal party to use and for guests to explore, and the ceremony space was perfect in every way. While the staff is very up-front about it, it is worth noting that there are a lot of fees on top of the base rental fee: there is a huge bill for the bar (not the liquor, but for the set-up, staff, glassware, etc), wedding insurance, parking fees, etc. We feel it was worth every penny, but this is helpful to know from a budgeting perspective. Our one word of advice would be to also hire an outside wedding coordinator. The money you pay goes toward the building--not toward the staff. While they say they have a "day-of" coordinator, that person does very little during the course of your wedding day. We highly recommend the space and feel it was worth the value.

Prior to being engaged, I had my heart set on Semple Mansion for my wedding day. Even after touring 4 other venues, both my husband and I felt like Semple was the one! The mansion is a beautiful, grand space that was perfect for our ceremony and reception. We decided to book the whole venue, as we wanted all spaces available due to our guest count. The cost to book Semple Mansion is quite an investment, but it made our wedding day truly special and unique. We went with a Friday evening wedding, which many of our guests actually preferred and it was a bit cheaper on the investment. The Bridal Suite on the 3rd floor is fantastic for the girls to get ready and the Billiard’s Room in the basement is great for a guys hangout spot. We had our ceremony on the main floor, cocktails in the Copper Bar and main floor, and our dance back on the main floor. The 3rd-floor Ballroom is truly stunning, and we decided upon this for our dinner. Working with Katherine and Lauren was truly a pleasure. They were always very prompt to answer my questions and helped to remind me of various things during the planning process. Both were there during the day of my wedding to help check in vendors and see that things were going okay. With Semple Mansion, you do have to choose from their list of preferred Bar and Food vendors, but this wasn’t a problem for us. There are some things that are not included in the rental price but can be rented through them (linens, parking, etc), which was very helpful! The mansion was perfect to do both our events in one location, which is easy for guests and the wedding party! Truly, it looks like a picture from Downton Abbey. It’s beautiful on every level and it helped to incorporate our Gatsby/1920’s theme perfectly! If you can afford the investment, I would HIGHLY recommend this place for an event, as we received so many compliments about Semple Mansion!

We loved our reception at the Semple Mansion. Katherine was wonderful to work with, quick to answer any questions we had and happy to set up additional walk-throughs as the wedding day approached. It was great to get ready at the mansion in the bridal suite, and she popped in a couple of times to see if we needed anything. We wanted a historic venue that fit all of our guests in one room for dinner rather than splitting them up into separate spaces, and we loved how the Semple Mansion is set up for that. We also liked giving our guests the flexibility to stay up on the third floor for dancing after dinner or explore the mansion's first floor (where we had cocktail hour) and the wine grotto in the basement. We were very happy with the Semple Mansion and its staff, and we recommend it highly.

I absolutely loved the Semple Masnion!!! Katherine and her team really made sure everything was just as expected! There is a list of specific vendors that you have to choose from for food, so that was really the only momentary setback, it otherwise everything was so amazing!!! The wine grotto downstairs, all the way up to the bridal suite for us to get ready in just held everything going on perfectly! We received so many compliments on everything about the mansion! Such a perfect decision!!

Semple was amazing! Katherine and Sophia were always willing to help and were lovely to work with. We got many compliments on the space during and after the wedding. It is on the pricey end for venues, but it was well worth the money. You definitely get what you pay for.

Beautiful venue!

We got married at Semple, and there are so many great things to point out about it. It's a beautiful, historic mansion that's very cool and has lots of space. I think the best thing though was that everything could be done there. We got in at 9 AM and had it until 12 AM. That meant we got in right away to get the ballroom set up for dinner, had the hair stylist come on site to do hair and make up in the bridal suite, were there for pictures, ceremony in the foyer, cocktail hour in the lounge, and then dinner in the ballroom upstairs. Everything flowed so smoothly, and there's a lot less room for error when you don't have transition between sites. I think it made the day more enjoyable for me too and I got to be more in the moment. Overall communication was good. Katherine definitely knows her stuff and was willing to work with us on our vision for our day. There were little things that got dropped in communication. For example, I asked for an extra high top table in the ballroom for our favors and an extra 6 foot table in the lounge to display games. Those were confirmed in writing, but neither appeared the day of. Thankfully, Darek was the venue coordinator present in the morning when I caught it, and he promptly brought those where I needed them and helped me reorganize the ballroom a bit when I realized some of our original floor plan didn't work so well. Overall then, highly recommend, especially if you can make a Friday or Sunday work in a less peak season. You will absolutely get your money's worth and have an enjoyable day!

We are so glad we chose Semple Mansion for our wedding reception. It's a spacious and versatile facility and it's absolutely gorgeous. I can't imagine a better place to host a formal event. The furniture pieces they provide go perfectly with the space and everything was ready to go the moment we arrived at 9am. We used the mansion for getting ready and taking photos in the morning, we used the downstairs area and wine grotto (such a cool space!! Guests loved the vault!) for cocktail hour (they provide a piano, so it was easy for us to have music!) and the ballroom for dinner and dancing. Our guests loved having the freedom to use all of the different spaces. We found great vendors through Semple and everyone who attended had a wonderful time! We loved that they allow renters to bring in their own alcohol because that made an open bar more affordable than with many packages we saw at other venues. Katherine was a joy to work with. She is very organized, always responds quickly to emails, and made the planning process easy and stress free. I would highly recommend Semple Mansion!

The second we walked into the Semple Mansion, I knew that this was the venue for our wedding!! It is simply stunning and has so much character that you dont need much more than that!! We really enjoyed working with Katherine the venue manager. She made the whole experience a lot of fun !! She was very easy to work with, and also provided great insight on things that people have done or different things that we could try. We had our ceremony and reception at the venue and it worked out PERFECTLY !!! we used the grand ball room upstairs for the ceremony and used lots of candles for decoration and then had the reception on the main floor. I really cant say enough great things about this venue.. If could do my wedding all over again , I would still chose the semple. It just creates such a unique atmosphere that you just dont want to leave :) !!

My husband and I have nothing but glowing reviews for our experience working with Katherine and having our wedding and reception at Semple Mansion. Everything from start to finish was incredibly smooth, and our guests continued to talk about how beautiful the wedding was, and what a wonderful time they had, for several months after our wedding. The venue provided the exact ambiance we were hoping for.

For the most part we used vendors (caterer, photographer, DJ, hotel/shuttle) that had previous experience working at Semple, which made things very easy. Our florist/decorator had not previously done an event there, and Katherine and the other staff were very accommodating to allow us to come view the space a few different times to try some flowers and pieces out. Katherine was also incredibly responsive and offered various suggestions as we considered different options for tables and seating arrangements.

We would highly recommend this venue to anyone, and overall had a very pleasant experience.

The Semple Mansion couldn't have been more picture perfect for our wedding day. A mingled feeling of grace, history, and elegance from another time enveloped us the first time we entered the building. It inspired us in all our selections from linens to my wedding gown and the result was a beautiful and timeless memory. So many brides that I've talked to have said that if they were to go back and get married again that they would change a lot about their wedding, but I wouldn't change a thing and I know that has a lot to do with Semple Mansion!

Katherine was fabulous to work with, prompt and responsive to all phone calls and emails. As someone who was planning a wedding from out of state, this was my only means of contact, so I was grateful for that perk. She was also very flexible with our crazy schedules when we were in town and all of the last minute details that we came up with days before the reception.

I found a previous review of this venue puzzling as they stated that there were hidden fees with regard to beverage services. Everything was explicitly stated in the contract about what your options were for bartenders, etc. I recommend that people fully read every vendor contract and ask lots of questions before they sign anything. Reading comprehension is a definite must in the wedding biz!

If I had one beef with this venue, it is that you are responsible for contracting basically everything, which can be overwhelming if you're not good at delegating tasks to others. It's great that you don't need to get any extraneous decor to spruce up the space, because it needs no bells and whistles, but there are lots of other things to spend your time and money on. It's true that you can order discounted linens through the mansion, however, I think it would be nice if they just had some house linens so you have to option of saving a little money. That being said, all of their recommended vendors on their website were great and I think the ability to personalize everything was what made our day so special and unique. Thanks Semple!

My fiance and I walked through five venues a year ago, and the instant we walked into the Semple, I knew it was the one. It was breath taking walking from one room to the next. The venue was out of budget-but I knew it was my dream venue, so I worked alot of overtime! lol The Semple Mansion does not come cheap, and beware they have a rental fee and a bar fee (and this bar fee does not cover the liquor, it is literally just to use the bar). But after my wedding last week, there is no other venue I would have chosen, it was worth the extra overtime and worth every dollar.
As mentioned-the venue is so amazing the decor you need is minimal. We used candles, flowers and votives and it was beautiful. the chairs are amazing-so don't stress about chair covers. The bridal suite is a little small-but gorgeous, and there is a huge room in the basement with couches and a pool table for the groom/groomsmen-my husband LOVED that!!
There is a coordinator onsite which I know some people in their reviews didn't so much care for and I cannot comment on that as I used with a private wedding planner who dealt with all the details (thank god). FYI the wedding planner was the best choice I made-Simply Elegant Bridal Consults.
The only negative comment I have is the elevator. There are A LOT of stairs at the Semple Mansion and several of my guests really needed the elevator but it was acting up the night of the wedding so they couldn't use it, and it was very hard for them to climb all the stairs, I was disappointed as the elevator was a selling point for me.
But overall, if you are looking for an amazing venue to hold the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception at-this is the place. I do no have one regret about having my wedding at the Semple Mansion, it was the wedding of my dreams held at a perfect venue.

Upon entering The Semple Mansion, I knew it was where we'd have our wedding reception. The entire mansion is beautiful, and they kept making updates all the time leading up to our wedding date, which made it even better. Katherine was on hand the day of our wedding and helped to make sure the day went off without a hitch. It is such a unique space and I loved that it didn't need any additional decor (aside from table centerpieces). We only had our reception there and the ballroom fit our 200 guests perfectly. We received many compliments on how unique of a venue it was.

We loved the Semple Mansion! We had our wedding in late October and everything was beautiful and perfect. The day was flawless on the part of the Semple staff, we didn't even realize all the effort that I'm sure was put in. Everything flowed very well and the staff was fantastic. From organizing all our guest from the ceremony to the social hour to the dinner, everything went very well.

The Semple Mansion does offer a "wedding coordinator" who was also very helpful in answering questions in the planning process and it was also priceless to have them there on the wedding day. The coordinators knew all the details and were able to make the day flow effortlessly (on our part).

I marked a few points off for responsiveness just because some of the emails slipped through the cracks, but overall, the service was still very good. As long as you allowed a couple of business days for them to get back to you, things were just fine. Certain times we received immediate responses too, which was very helpful in last minute questions.

This was on the more expensive side of our budget, but we feel like it was definitely worth the money. The guests LOVED the venue and we didn't have to put in any thought in keeping the wedding flowing as planned.

I LOVED the Semple Mansion. It was beautiful and absolutely perfect for everything I wanted in a wedding venue. I could not have had a more perfect place. Katherine, who works there, was fantastic. She always called me back, answered all my questions and best of all was there the day of the reception to help set up and then greeted my guests when they arrived. I was extremely pleased and my guests were very impressed.

We absolutely loved the look and feel of the Semple Mansion, and it was perfect for our wedding. It's small enough to feel like a more intimate space, which was great, but was perfect for our mid-sized wedding. The interior of the mansion is beautiful and unique, and I loved that we were the only group in the mansion the night of our wedding.

A few minor complaints-a few charges came up at the last minute-for example, the week of our wedding, the Semple coordinator mentioned that we would either have to tip the bartenders a pre-set amount (on top of the per-person liquor fees and bartender fees we were already paying) or the bartenders would leave a tip jar out for our guests. We felt this was excessive given the fees we were already paying for the bartenders and liquor.

We also were a little disappointed that when the coordinator we had originally been working with left, the one who came to take her place never introduced herself to anyone. We had a couple questions and didn't know who to ask or who worked for the Mansion that was still at our event. Otherwise, we were really impressed and thought Katherine, the coordinator we worked with, was easygoing, very nice, and a delight to talk to.

Our wedding at the Semple Mansion was wonderful! Sophia was really great to work with the day of the wedding and made sure everything we needed was taken care of. I highly recommend the Semple Mansion and would suggest requesting Sophia to work with!

Ok like seriously I can only say great things about the Semple Mansion! I loved it! All of our vendors had worked with Katherine before and got everything handled. We got mooned on our wedding day as it was gay pride weekend and the boys were out..And Katherine handled it like a champ! Love love love it! If you can get married here do it! Ever since my first visit to the Semple Mansion I knew it was a venue I could see myself getting married in. It is very unique and has so much character built into it. It was a little bit pricier then some of the other options that we were looking into but other than flowers we didn’t need any additional decorations, which made it a little bit more reasonable. We were looking for a place where we could have both our ceremony and reception in the same place so that our guests wouldn’t have to travel between the two. It turned out gorgeous and we were very happy with how our entire wedding day went! It was nice to have an area for the girls to get ready and for pictures the opportunities are endless. Multiple guests commented to us on how it was such a unique site for our wedding and on how pretty it was.

Great location, free parking, beautiful decorations. It is expensive, but you can bring in your own alcohol and you have choices for catering. Plus you save money not needing to decorate. They do have some restrictions (out by midnight, no overnight parking, no children under 12), perfect for us but it might not be for everyone. We loved it!

Great venue. Katherine is amazing. The only hiccup was that there wasn't enough chairs set up for the number of guests that we were expecting which led to a last minute scramble. The fee's for having a caterer and hosting a bar also seemed a bit excessive. Other than that, wonderful venue. They were great to work with and already had established relationships with our other vendors which made everything run super smooth.

The mansion is absolutely stunning. I can't tell you how much I loved having our reception there. The number one comment I got all night was, "Where did you find this place!". Katherine, the ballroom coordinator, was really nice and easy to work with. The only complaint I have is that because they were so new, a lot of the things we were promised never happened - i.e. they didn't have a dishwasher yet, the wood floors in the back hallway weren't refinished, the kitchen wasn't completed, etc. None of this mattered to the guests, but it made for added stress on me. Oh, and the elevator operator was never around when we needed him, and I had to carry TONS of stuff up the three flight of steps. It was a great workout, but not necessary when there was an elevator available. Another small gripe, they said that it would comfortably seat 275 -- NO WAY -- we had 240 and we were absolutely crammed in there. Needless to say, I loved the building and it was beautiful.

The Semple Mansion was an absolutely amazing venue.

The only problem was that we had to set up the majority of our decoration and all of the little things did end up taking a lot of time the day of the wedding.

In retrospect, I wish we could have had the rehearsal the night prior to free up time for set-up day-of. The only reason we did not was the additional cost, I wish that had been included as it was a very expensive venue!!!

The Semple Mansion is a gorgeous and completely unique venue. There's really nothing else like it in the Twin Cities. Every detail was renovated to perfection. You feel as though you've stepped back in time. Katherine (the site coordinator) is great and attentive to detail. Most importantly, she's there the whole day of the wedding to help with vendors and respond to problems. We had the run of the place the whole day, which was fun. The first floor is perfect for the cocktail hour. Our 110 guests had plenty of space in the ballroom, but the 250 they say will fit is an overestimate (more like 200). Our guests raved about the space, and to us it was worth it. My only gripes would by that the elevator was not functioning on the day of our wedding, but they responded by hiring two big guys to carry stuff up the stairs. Also, the mansion is expensive (they've raised their prices by more than a thousand dollars in the last year alone). It's not really for the person on a budget, although you can save since they let you bring in your own vendors for everything (including catering). Also, they book up VERY far in advance!

The Semple Mansion in Minneapolis is an absolutely GORGEOUS venue, and incredibly unique. Kaherine is very easy to work with and is experienced in wedding planning. We really, really loved having our wedding reception at the Semple Mansion, and our guests loved it too. Highly recommended.

Though there were a few snafus (something only I would notice, not the guests), you cant go wrong with this place. If youve never been there yourself, it is undoubtedly the most beautiful mansion you could ever imagine. The details are amazing. Katherine Hendrickson is great to work with. She helped me out a couple times that we were in a pinch as far as negotiating a time to get decorations and favors to the site (they dont open their doors until 2 hours before your event start time). She can be pretty tough to get a hold of, but you can rest assured that you have left her a message, she will get back to you. Our headcount was 200 people for a seated dinner, and not a single guest ate their dinner with elbows up their noses as I had feared. Katherine worked with me to set up a seating chart what would enable everyone to sit comfortably, be able to see everything, and still have the ballroom look spacious and not at all cramped. I guess my only beef is that no one lit the candles on the cocktail tables or the fireplace mantle, so we had a bunch of candles on the 1st floor, unlit. Might not even be on them, not sure who orchestrated that between the mansion, my caterer, and florist.

The venue is very beautiful and was the best location for us--close to our ceremony and many hotel options just down the road. Their contract is straightforward and they will not hide costs from you. Essentially Semple Mansion provides the space and tables. They will not hang around to help set up anything else (just something to consider during your day-of planning).

One thing that was upsetting: there was a giant "For Lease" sign in front of the building the entire day of our wedding. Going through guest's photos and seeing that thing is frustrating for how much we paid (we paid for all areas of the reception space for the entire Saturday). The door knob to the bridal suite also kept falling off, and it's the only room you can lock to protect any valuables.

The space is beautiful...Perfect for a wedding. The only drawback in my opinion was working with Katherine (the event planner for the Semple Mansion). I found her rude and unhelpful. She only contacted me to collect money when it was due. That is the only thing she helped with...reminding me its time to pay. The day of the event someone asked her if she could set something small up... she said "that's not my job" (She was browsing cocktail dresses online)

I loved the Semple. It is gorgeous and I couldnt imagine getting married anywhere else once we saw it. Also, Katherine is very friendly and helpful, and she and her staff played a big role in helping my day to go smoothly.

My biggest complaint is that they have stopped allowing people to bring their own alcohol in, and require that you use a specific vendor for the bar. While I knew this when I booked, I didnt realize how expensive the required vendor would be in comparison to the bar I was previously planning to use. Also, the Semple adds on another $2K bar fee iand a $500 catering fee in addition to the rental fee. The fees from the Semple and having to use Common Roots for the bar signiificantly increased the cost of the night.

One other thing... Katherine is extremely helpful however her estimates on costs for the vendors arent super reliable. If you are worried about a budget, you need to do your own due diligence on the costs before booking here, since you are required to pick from their caterers as well, and food + drink are two of the biggest cost drivers of a wedding. Her estimates to me on cost per plate for food from the vendors was quite low. So with being forced to use Common Roots for the bar, and having a low ball estimate on the food and a few other things - I underestimated the cost to get married at the semple when I signed the contract (and I am a finance professional - I forecast spend for a living).

We held both our ceremony and reception here with a cocktail hour in between so our guests were able to stay at one location for the entire event. The building is absolutely gorgeous and provided a very intimate yet elegant feel to our wedding. The day flowed flawlessly from the morning "getting ready" arrival to end of the reception.

Throughout the planning process, we worked with Katherine. She was professional and generally responded promptly when we had questions or concerns. The facility is somewhat expensive, especially since it includes only the rental of the space. However, it is a large space and beautifully restored. All catering, alcohol, etc... we were required to hire ourselves and coordinate with the mansion. However, we liked this aspect because it allowed us more flexibility.

The mansion is helpful and accomodating to vendors, but a bit unusual because it has certain limited amenties (with respect to vendors). For example, there is only a prep kitchen so no food can be cooked at the mansion. Thus, we recommend using a caterer who is familiar with the mansion and has worked there before so they are surely comfortable with the unusual space. Our caterer (Joseph's Catering) had worked at the mansion before and did an excellent job.

Overall, we were very satisfied with the mansion. The space is absolutely gorgeous and Katherine provided us help along the way whenever we needed it. They are rated a top place for weddings in the area, and I would definitely agree with this assessment.

The venue was beautiful, especially for my winter wedding. They did a great job of accomodating my expansive guest list and paid very close attention to details. My guests agreed that it was the best wedding they've been to.

I loved the venue, it was beautiful and everything went very smooth the day of. I cannot say the same for the week before. We had many issues with our bar service. The city came in a changed which vendor they had to use which I totally understand. The part I don't understand is the fact that we could not get ahold of them to figure things out. We ended up getting helped by the bar vendor who also had trouble getting ahold of them. It all worked our well, it was just annoying the week before.

As one of the first weddings since it was remodeled there were several hiccups. In the end everything worked out. The venue was amazing and service was good.

Gorgeous venue, my family and friends were very impressed. It was a pretty costly venue but worth it for the unique and romatic scene it provided for our special day. The one downfall is there isn't a lot of hotels nearby so you are stuck working with the Sheraton off of Lake St. Not the safest area in Minneapolis. However, I don't have any regrets, I was very pleased and wouldn't have chosen any other venue for our wedding day.

You can do better.

My husband and I booked Semple in the fall of 2019 for our May 2020 wedding, and we initially had a positive experience in communicating, touring the venue, and planning for our special day. However, our wedding was right during the COVID-19 lockdown in Minnesota and it became apparent that our plans would need to change due to the pandemic.
My husband and I decided to still get married with only 10 people present, as per the CDC guidelines at the time. Semple was not willing to host even this small ceremony - understandable - but they also were not willing to refund our money. They offered us a new wedding date, but we were not interested in postponing our wedding. We were just severely downsizing.
Ultimately, we hired a lawyer to work through the process of getting our deposit and full payment back, as Semple was not able to perform the services we contracted them for. The back-and-forth during these legal proceedings was messy, and Semple misinformed their lawyer on several occasions about our history and specific situation. (Perhaps they had us mixed up with different clients? Fortunately, all my correspondence with Semple was in writing and ultimately this was our saving grace.)
My advice to future clients looking to use this space is to a) communicate primarily via email so as to have a paper trail, and b) be absolutely certain of the cancellation policy as outlined in your contract. (There were details of what would happen if WE cancelled after paying, but no details about what would happen if the VENDOR - Semple - cancelled after receiving payment.) We spent 4 months trying to negotiate and while we did receive our payments back thanks to hiring legal help, we were left with an overall sour taste towards Semple and their administration as a whole.
I know COVID has affected the event industry tremendously and this venue is simply trying to survive, but please read your contract and have those conversations prior to entering into service with Semple to ensure that YOU too are protected should the worst come to pass.

The venue is of course stunning. Our reception was lovely. However, the "Wedding Coordinator" did not coordinate anything except the fees we needed to pay. She responded to half of our emails, asked the same questions numerous times, and provided us with no services.

We were expecting her to help us the day of the wedding, but she did not. We asked for a specific amount of tables for our cocktail hour because that was how many centerpieces we ordered, and she decided the space needed more tables, so we did not have enough centerpieces for all of the tables. We asked for her to simply help place centerpieces on the tables and she said that was not a service she could provide. Lighting candles- not a service she could provide. Her services for us included keeping the bathroom stocked.

Overall, just know what you are paying for- the space and not services.

I had multiple issues with this vendor and would not recommend them to anyone unless you're happy spending $6,000+ just for a beautiful space, tables and chairs.

Very little is included in the cost of renting the Semple - no linens, beverage service, etc. Costs add up very quickly. Nevertheless, we loved the space so we budgeted accordingly.

At the last minute, the event coordinator sprung an extra charge for alcohol service ($15/head) and this isn't the first time this has happened to clientele of the Mansion. This resulted in an extra $2000 we had not accounted for in our budget. When we tried to dispute the charge, as it's not in the contract, we were told we could find somewhere else to do our wedding, 2 months out. Of course, we ended up paying the fee, but I was very discouraged at how unprofessionally it was handled.

It took the event coordinator over a week to get back to me in most cases for relatively simple requests. It was relatively difficult for a working bride to meet with the event coordinator - it was never based on my schedule but hers.

In the end, the wedding was beautiful. The staff was efficient at converting the space. The space is stunning. But, I wish I had known about that alcohol service fee. The biggest kicker came at the end of the night when the head bartender said he only got $15 in tips. I'm just wondering where the heck that $2000 I paid for alcohol service went!

I will give this place 5 stars for the beautiful venue, and all the character in the mansion that lend to gorgeous pictures with the bridal party.

If I could give negative stars for the rest, I would. The day that we showed up for my little sister's wedding we found that the refrigerator was broken. When we told the lady running the venue she said "Oh, yeah it was out last weekend and we had someone come fix it... guess it's broken again." From that point on no one from the venue did anything to help with the refrigeration issue from calling any contractor in the area to helping get ice or anything. It would have at least been nice for them to put forth an effort since we had a lot of food/drinks that needed to be kept cold the day of and had to get creative and make several ice runs.

There was a sparkling grape juice toast directly after the wedding and the venue was providing all the champagne flutes. One of the ladies helping with the wedding decided just to pull a few of them out of the dish washing trays to ensure they were clean. We had an entire tray's worth that had food in them (not just water spots) as well as lip stick and lip marks. When I brought this to the attention of the second lady to show up that day to run the venue, she said it was impossible to get lip stick/lip marks off of glasses (excuse me??) and that I should just take a paper towel and wipe them off. When she asked my oldest sister what was wrong, she said she didn't have time to get all the glasses cleaned and the lady from the venue said, "well, do you have anyone else that can help?" Never once did she offer to help us with anything at the event space until she heard us arguing about it, stormed over to the bar area and yelled at everyone to leave
