Best DJ for wedding

Jay was so easy to work with and full of suggestions. DJ Mike was great and really personalized the music and his running of the event. Can’t say enough great things about selective sound. Would highly recommend.

A well-respected DJ company!

As a professional wedding officiant I have worked with COUNTLESS DJs in the area. Sure, many will give your guests a good time on the dance floor but not all know how to cohesively work as a team with all the wedding pros you trust to hire on your big day. Jay R is fantastic. He is well-respected in the local event community. He is professional, knowledgeable, and goes out of his way to execute events in the way a couple has requested. I will always look forward to working a wedding with Jay R...I just wish our paths crossed more often! Highly recommend him and his team!

A Truly Unforgettable Experience with Selective Sound Events!

From start to finish, Selective Sound Events truly exceeded our expectations and helped make our special day even more memorable! The entire process, from scheduling to handling our special requests, was seamless and professional. They were incredibly responsive and took the time to ensure every detail was just right.

The music selection was perfect, and the volume was spot-on—never too loud, but always just right to keep the energy high and the dance floor packed. We received numerous compliments from guests about how great the tunes were, and there was a wonderful balance of old favorites and fresh tracks that had everyone moving.

One of the highlights of the night was the incredibly unique moment they helped create—announcing a "gorilla playing saxophone with balloons." It was unexpected and absolutely hilarious, giving us a truly unforgettable memory that our guests will talk about for years to come!

The only small hiccup was a mispronunciation of the bride’s maiden name during one of the announcements. While it was a minor slip, it’s the only thing that kept this from being a perfect 10.

Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better DJ service. Selective Sound Events made our event so special, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-notch entertainment that goes above and beyond to make your event unforgettable!

Great DJ, Kept the Day Moving Smoothly, Brought the Energy!

We hired Selective Sound for DJ and up-lighting for our wedding at Tenk West Bank in May 2022. I was super nervous/picky about hiring a DJ because I've been to weddings where the DJ really doesn't know what they're doing and it makes the day pretty chaotic and unpleasant for guests. We could not have had a better experience with Selective Sound! Jay R was super approachable and very easy to work with in the early days of planning. He answered the many questions I had without pressuring me to purchase anything I didn't want or have the budget for. We ended up doing a 32-piece uplighting at our venue and it totally enhanced the space (as Jay said that it would!). On wedding day, our DJ was Marcus. We loved Marcus!!! Marcus was super thorough and made me feel totally at ease. He was cool as a cucumber the whole night and I knew that our wedding was in good hands. The dance floor was SUPER important to my husband and I. We've got a lot of big dancers in our group and we really wanted modern music while also saving some space for oldies for our parents. Marcus had the perfect blend and he really kept us hyped until the very last song! We received a ton of compliments about the energy of our day and that had a lot to do with Marcus! Wedding entertainment can make or break your day. Marcus and Selective Sound made ours incredible and we are so grateful!!

Wonderful DJ!!!

DJ Danny was very professional and organized. We appreciated him taking time getting to know us and going through each detail of the event very thoroughly. Danny gave us good suggestions for our wedding timeline and music selections. We were very happy with how everything sounded from the ceremony until the end of the reception. Our guests and us had so much fun dancing the night away!!

Great DJ helped make wedding fantastic

We heard good things about Selective Sound Entertainment--so we booked them. Our original DJ through them was very professional and helped us figure out how we wanted the night to flow and what kind of music we wanted when. A week before the wedding, he broke his leg, so Jay R took over as DJ and was awesome--he got sound working for our livestream of the ceremony, and people came up to me to compliment how good the ceremony music was. The rest of the night was a blast as well. I was worried about many things during the wedding, but the DJ wasn't one of them.

So much more than a DJ!

As he can attest, Jay R was much more than a DJ for me. His experience in the wedding industry was invaluable. He was like a mini-wedding planner. Admittedly, I took on a lot as a bride. (I recommend to reduce stress everyone should probably get a wedding planner). At our first few meetings, I certainly was not prepared. Jay's questions of "well who is doing this?" or "who is doing that" really helped me think of aspects I had never even considered! By the end I felt much more prepared. I also had no idea how lighting worked, but Jay and his team were absolute pros. Our wedding was absolutely stunning with the additional bistro lights over the dance floor, and the numerous chandeliers throughout the tent or out in the trees! Day of I felt at ease because he helped guide the way. He was never once pushy, always checked with us asking if we were ready to move on to the next item. Because of all our prep work he didn't feel like a stranger by the time the big day came. So very happy we were able to connect! Highly highly recommend!

Amazing service

Jay R and our DJ, Patrick, were amazing to work with! They were both very responsive. We met with Patrick a couple of times to go over music and the vibe we wanted for our reception. Patrick was an amazing DJ, he went above and beyond his services! He made sure my husband and I were comfortable during the reception. He even took our drink orders and brought them to us!! Life of the Party

Devin was our DJ for our 9/26/2020 wedding and he absolutely knocked it out of the park! He was very interactive with our guests, super funny and knew just what to play to keep the party going! Amazing experience!!

We had an amazing time working with this company! We worked specifically with Jay R who was the most responsive person to work with! He would email us back no matter what time it was! We did our DJ services, our lighting, our photo booth and our videography through them. We wanted some Arabic music and the DJ was able to find every song we told him we wanted. The lighting was so perfect and made the venue even better!! I would highly recommend them!

This review is specifically for Jay R of SSE.

Jay R is a 10/10 because I literally can't think of anything I'd change about our experience. A few of our wedding guests mentioned that the music volume was just a touch loud, but I thought it was perfect, considering the event (and I have sensitive hearing!).

Some things we especially liked:

- Jay R was extremely responsive via all forms of communication

- Jay R was perfectly accommodating of our requests, but he was also real with us (in a way that was polite yet clear) about the things that, in his experience, typically 'work' for weddings -- something we newbies really appreciated

- It was such a relief to have Jay R for our ceremony, which went perfectly; his mic-jobs (two lapel mics, one on a stand) were perfect and discreet

- True to his word, Jay R vamped one of our processional songs with a smooth crossfade that probably zero people noticed

- Jay R didn't just care about getting his own job done and getting outta there; he seemed to have all vendors' itineraries in his head at once -- he was essentially our point man for the entire evening, for all things, not just music (and in that way, he partly helped us to plan the wedding!)

- The extent to which Jay R interacted with the crowd was just right -- I wouldn't have asked for any more or any less

- One of our favorite things: we made a lot of Play-If-Possible song requests that probably weren't very wedding-friendly (e.g. the full studio version of Richard Harris's "MacArthur Park"), but Jay R managed to play a truly amazing percentage of them, and all at the perfect moments

- Jay R was immediately responsive to the movements (as it were) of the dance floor; he'd start a song and, if it wasn't catching, smoothly beatmatch it with another song and move on

- To top it all off, Jay R has a cheerful personality and a great sense of humor!

Phenomenal!

My husband and I used Selective Sound for our October wedding and couldn't be any happier with our decision. We worked with DJ Brian and would recommend him a thousand times. He really went above and beyond for our big day. We met with him about a month prior to our wedding to go over songs, timelines, and name pronunciation for family and wedding party. Absolutely amazing

My experience with Selective Sound was phenomenal! My Husband and I had the pleasure of working with Jay R and Marcus (who was our actual DJ). Both of whom were easy to work with and were 100% invested in how to make our wedding day everything we wanted and more. Prior to the wedding, Marcus made sure that all of the music and timelines were accurate and planned. We live in Columbus so he did not hesitate to Skype us at anytime of the day that worked best for us. At the ceremony and reception the music was PERFECTLY timed and everyone was up dancing once the reception started, even the elderly attendees who don't like to move much. We received compliments from all of our guests about Marcus and we highly recommend them for any event that is in need for DJ services.

Absolutely amazing!

My husband and I got married in August and hired selective sound for our DJ services for ceremony & reception, and up lighting. Devin M was our assigned DJ and he was absolutely OUTSTANDING! He was so easy to work with. We were super busy moving into a new home and working before the wedding that he let us FaceTime him for our visit and it was perfect. We gave him a few songs that we wanted played but otherwise let him do his thing and everyone continues to tell us how great he was!! No one wanted to leave the dance floor. As far as the uplighting goes, selective sound made my reception venue look incredible and gave it such a warm romantic feeling! We couldn’t have been happier hiring selective sound & highly recommend Devin to anyone!

Wonderful Experience

We will recommend Selective Sound for ANYONE wanting a DJ, uplighting, videography, etc. We had all of these services through Selective Sound and it was the best decision we ever made! They happened to be the exclusive DJ at our venue, Whitehall Columbia, and we were very happy that all of their equipment was already in the space and did not have any awkward speaking sticking out! Best DJ service EVER!

Marcus was excellent. He exceeded all of my expectations and I fully understand why he is the most requested DJ with SSE. I have received so many compliments on his work, particularly to the volume. My family and I were at a wedding last May and the acoustics were horrific. You could not even understand the father of the bride speech. It was honestly so sad, and I felt awful. I am so elated to of been able to work with Marcus. He went above and beyond for me. He was always EXTREMELY responsive and could not have been more of a class act. His level of professionalism and wonderful service is what all DJ’s should aspire too. Furthermore, I personally feel that any DJ who is just starting out would be privileged to train under Marcus. Marcus is kind and makes you feel like an immediate friend. The level of engagement between him and the guests is off the charts. I am honored to say that Marcus Jordan was apart of the best day of my life and will recommend him, and SSE to any person who asks. It could not have been any more perfect.

Absolutely PERFECT Wedding DJ

We hired Selective Sound Entertainment for our wedding in July 2019. We very much enjoyed the services that were provided and the cost was very reasonable. We met with Jay R at Selective Sound to go over our initial plans. Jay R was amazing and had answers for all of our questions. He even steered us away from adding on services to our order, which in turn meant less revenue for them. This just told me that this is a vendor that I can trust and that they truly have their clients at heart and not just making money.

Once we officially hired them as our DJ, Devin Moore was provided as our formal DJ. Devin was incredible! We had an initial phone call with him to go over our plan as we got closer to our wedding date. We even had a happy hour meeting a couple weeks before just so we could meet in person and get a feel for each other. The day of the wedding, Devin was incredible and kept people on the dance floor ALL NIGHT LONG! The sound was great, the songs were great and the interaction with the crowd was impeccable. I strongly recommend Devin Moore and Selective Sound Entertainment for all of your entertainment needs!

DJ Patrick was the absolute BEST!!!

Patrick K. was an awesome DJ and was an even better event coordinator for our wedding. He went way above and beyond his duties as DJ and made sure that the entire wedding party was comfortable, in the right places, and happy with their food and drinks. He even did minor dry cleaning duties and cleaned up a stain on my husband's tux just minutes before the ceremony began!! I actively highly recommended Patrick to others. He made a stressful day significantly less stressful, and for that I am grateful. Five stars all the way.

Highly recommend Selective Sound Entertainment!

We are so happy we picked Selective Sound as our MC/DJ for our wedding! Marcus was the best! He had experience in our venue (Tenk West Bank) so knew exactly what we needed. The lighting they provided created the best ambiance We had pretty particular music preferences and Marcus did an excellent job honoring them as well as mixing in some great jams along the way to keep the dance floor crowded. Wonderful!

Daniel was our wedding DJ and he was absolutely WONDERFUL! We met with him over dinner and discussed our ideas for music, which he truly listened to! He made sure we didn't forget anyone important in our dancing lineup, and made sure our schedule for the night went on without a hitch! Nothing short of amazing!

Kept the Party Going All Night

Jay R was a pleasure to work with and played a key role in our big day. Knowing the acoustic challenges in The Old Courthouse, we knew we needed someone with a lot of experience there. DJ Marcus was phenomenal!

DJ Marcus did an amazing job at our wedding! We had already read a ton of reviews for Selective Sound about how great DJ Marcus was, but still could not believe how outstanding he was. Marcus is very nice and down to earth. He was great with communication and open to doing anything that would make our day more special! My husband and I both had some special and secret requests for songs (fake mess ups, etc), and he delivered perfectly! Also, our guests raved about how awesome he was. Our dance floor was packed from the moment music started until the wedding ended! DJ Marcus’ use of his turn tables was so unique and cool! We have never danced so much in our lives! The uplighting and monogram were also breathtaking!

Our dance floor was packed all night!

Selective Sound Entertainment was amazing! Jay R made the whole planning experience simple and fun. He was easy to reach, responsive, and very accommodating with our song requests. Our dance floor was packed all night long, And the uplighting and photo booth were also exceptional! Not to mention Jay R’s day-of coordination to make sure everything ran smooth! Great services!

Jay R was amazing and very easy to work with. He made everything flow just as I wanted. The dance floor was packed all night and I received many compliments on how great the music was! We also did the mirror photo booth and it was a hit!

I would highly recommend Selective Sound for any of my friends or family’s weddings. DJ Danny did a fantastic job. First of all, he was very thorough with his preparations — calling us multiple times in the weeks/days leading up to the wedding to make sure everything was taken care of. Secondly, he took all of our playlist suggestions and played them at the appropriate time throughout the night. There wasn’t one minute that the dance floor wasn’t full. DJ Danny is a true professional and I can’t speak highly enough about Selective Sound.

Brilliant Company

There are few words that can accurately describe the experience we received through Jay R and Selective Sound! I knew that in planning a wedding there were a few key ingredients that either make or break receptions. One of the largest key players being the DJ! The DJ is responsible for pulling everyone together, for keeping them out on the dance floor, and letting everyone enjoy themselves which makes for a great evening! Jay R went above and beyond any expectations I could've imagined! My FATHER-IN-LAW was even out on the dance floor... And I know for all, that means absolutely nothing, but it meant the world to me. He's an older farmer who is set in his older ways and is not one who goes out of his way. But he was on the dance floor the night of my wedding, more than once might I add! It was a fantastic evening, Jay R read the crowd and played what he knew everyone would love. I can honestly say hands down, my reception met and exceeded every expectation I had. Jay R was organized, he had everything ready and at his finger tips. He knew what to say and how to say it. He was extremely pleasant to work with and he actually listened to what his customer wanted. Brilliant is all I have to say about Jay R and Selective Sound Entertainment! I loved every second of that night and I have this team to thank for that!

Selective Sound Entertainment is awesome. My DJ/MC, Patrick, was so attentive. He and I met twice to discuss all of the details and he even reviewed everything a few days before the wedding. The music was awesome and my guests loved him. He was so interactive and really got people excited. What I loved about Selective Sound is their online planning tool. You log in to your account and you can fill out a timeline of your wedding day, the names of the people in your bridal party, and then you pick all your special songs. You can make changes as many times as you want until 1 week before the wedding! After that, I just texted my DJ with a last minute change. They helped make my wedding perfect! (Seriously! Not a single thing went wrong!)

When planning our big day, I knew that the DJ was probably the most crucial part of planning. Yes, the food, the venue, the dress, etc. are all important, but every bride and groom wants to see that their time and money went into their guests having a good time, and the music is the most important part of that. It’s what gets everyone in the mood to either sit at their table and awkwardly participate in small talk, or grab a drink and head to the dance floor. I would’ve been heartbroken if I saw all of my guests being wallflowers. But, Devin M with Selective Sound Entertainment made sure that my guests spent the majority of their night dancing! He listened to every request I made and kept the party going!
Devin was also very professional. He was the life of the party when he needed to be, and commanded the attention of the room when we were ready to take large group photos, make a toast, or cut the cake. He really helped “run the show”. Trust me, you want people who are willing to be in command and grab peoples attention, because wrangling 160 partially intoxicated friends and family members is NOT something you want to do on your big day. He kept those moments so stress free for me, and for that, I am so very grateful!
Our wedding was in a very large pavilion, and I worried the sound would be really hard to master, but he did it perfectly! The speeches were clear and the music wasn’t blaring to make up for the lack of walls. Two friends of ours, who will be getting married at the same location next year, even asked us for his information, because they were so impressed with his work.
The entire process, from meeting initially with Jay R at their office, to Skyping and Emailing with Devin (I live in NC, while our wedding was in Ohio), was so easy and relaxed. It was like talking to an old friend. I am so so appreciative of the work that Devin put into making our day as perfect as we had hoped it would be!

As SSE says, they are not just a DJ company. We worked with Jay R who planned the NYE wedding of our dreams and brought our vision to life. He gave us suggestions (respective to our budget) of services to utilize to make our wedding unique and exactly what we wanted. We used 2 70 inch TV's for SocialCast- a program where guests can hashtag photos and they will then be displayed on the TVs. We also used the TV's to live stream the ball drop. Lastly, SSE provided confetti cannons for the midnight celebration. This was truly a production and work of art. We had sound technicians, someone to run the TV's and of course our DJ/MC Marcus. I could tell all staff were prepped and organized and knew exactly what to do when it came to our wedding. DJ Marcus understood the age and vibe of the crowd but also did a phenomenal job pleasing our guests with their song requests. Marcus and the entire staff was very professional and prepared. I would recommend SSE to anyone.

I can't say enough about SSE and I am glad we chose them to help celebrate our day. Jay r was our original contact and he helped us feel comfortable about our choice. He was available at any time to ask questions and continued to be in contact with us up until we finally met with our dj. DJ Brian was amazing! He was so helpful when setting up our big day and we felt comfortable right away. We knew we were putting our wedding in good hands. He worked well with the other vendors and his song choices were on point. Our dance floor was full all night and the uplighting looked great. The day went smoothly and he made sure our day was special!

Jay r is awesome! Our DJ (another vendor) bailed on us 3 weeks before our wedding and after reaching out to 12 other DJs to find a replacement Jay r and Selective Sound stood out against all of the other options that we met with. Definitely a great choice! All of our guests danced all night long! We heard all of our favorite songs! The lighting was an awesome addition and the photo booth was a great way for us to remember the fun that everyone had! Many of our guests commented that this was the best wedding ever and I know that that was partly due to the awesome music that played throughout the night! Great job Jay r!! Thank you!!

Choosing SSE was one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning process. Jay-R was our DJ and was PHENOMENAL through out the entire process. The wedding experience and advice Jay-R offered was priceless and extremely useful. On our wedding day, everything was perfect and as promised. He ensured our wedding guests were entertained and engaged. He also ensured we stuck to our timeline so that the night ran smoothly. Our photo-booth attendant did an amazing job organizing the booth and our keepsake photo album was perfect! Once the dance floor was open for the night, it was PACKED! The music Jay-R played was amazing and kept the party going, even until the very last song. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose SSE every time, without hesitation! I recently got married and I hired DJ Patrick for my reception and he went above and beyond what I expected! Me and my wife were very pleased with how well everything went. He was funny but professional, knew what to say at the perfect time and made it a great time for all of my guests. We had a cavs watch party during our reception for game 1 of the finals and even though they lost Patrick kept the energy alive throughout the whole night! I am still getting compliments on our wedding reception a few month later and I truly think DJ Patrick is a big reason for that. 10/10, five stars isn't enough!

I highly recommend Selective Sound. We hired them mainly as a DJ, but also added on their lighting package, ceremony sound package, and photobooth. All aspects of their services were awesome! Jay R was very responsive and helpful throughout the whole process; just having him coordinate and manage all the details will keep your mind at ease. Our DJ was Mike, and he was great as well! He took the time to meet us prior to the wedding to get to know our tastes, likes, and dislikes, and on the night of the wedding he was a fun DJ/MC! If you want your reception to go off without a hitch - I highly recommend JayR and his team at Selective Sound. We began our process meeting with JayR to discuss DJ, photobooth, lighting, etc. From our first meeting - everything was seamless. JayR was timely in responses, never left me feeling over or underwhelmed, professional and knowledgeable. Being a Bride who wanted to feel that nothing was left out of my day - JayR quoted everything under the sun that was a possibility to add into our day and we made decisions from there. We had uplighting, floor washes, GOBO's, pipe and drape, photobooth, dancing on the clouds, DJ and a sound system for our ceremony, (although I am sure I am missing something else SSE did for us!) Rick, our DJ, we met a few months before our wedding day. We gave him a very tall order. No requests, no line dances, club vibe from beginning to end! This was not typical for him as he said he usually likes to take care of the entire crowd for weddings and play songs from all genres and for every age group to appease every guest. We were adamant on him sticking to our wishes and he did! Literally - from after our first dance until the end of the night - there was not an open spot on the dance floor. It was bumping and packed the WHOLE evening. He played from our request list, songs that he chose, and even a few requests that ended up being perfect!!! Later in the night he played some 80's songs that made the very few people in their seats get on the dance floor. My uncles were happy! Seriously, could not have asked for a better DJ! He was timely with our evening, went in the exact order for speeches, dances, etc. He even played a hurricane horn which is an inside joke with my husband and his groomsmen! What DJ has a hurricane horn on queue?!?! It was everything we wanted our reception to be. If you want the best DJ, the best detailed oriented team - JayR and Rick from Selective Sound are your guys. Cannot praise them enough!!! THANK YOU!

Selective sound was great! We planned a wedding for my husbands post deployment leave and we only had 6 months notice, then our DJ friend stopped being responsive so we had to find a DJ last minute so it was on relatively short notice. I called around and Jay R was so personable, informative, and responsive. They were really great. He selected Marcus as the DJ and he was awesome! We have an eclectic taste in music so he was able to personalize everything for us and make our day special, not just playing the popular music. We were running late on our timeline on the wedding day and he was understanding and customized everything to fit our needs. We also got uplighting for the venue and it turned out beautiful! We couldn't have asked for a better DJ!

We went with selective sound pretty early in our wedding planning process because they were the preferred sound company for our venue and upon doing research we've seen a lot of good things about the company. We are still amazed at the level of service we actually received. We were contacted plenty of times throughout the process to make things easy and every one of our needs were met to the highest of standards. We had Marcus as our DJ and it couldn't have gone better. Marcus supplied us with plenty of great times, his music selection was so on point and timely. I couldn't have done or scripted it better myself. He was a great host/mc and even was nice to all of our needy (and crazy) guests. It's been a month since our wedding and I still have guests telling me how awesome our DJ was and I've refered him to several people. Thanks again Marcus, you helped make our wedding unforgettable!

Our DJ Jay R and Selective sounds were absolutly incredible! From the very first meeting we had to the wedding reception everything went so smoothly. Jay R took the time to listen to us and help us incorperate everything we wanted to at the reception. He is a super nice guy and very professional. He kept the dance floor packed all night and knew exactly what music to play and when to play it. We have gotten so many compliments from guests that were at our Wedding on what an amazing DJ we had. If you're still looking for a DJ, look no further than Selective Sound!! You will not be disappointed. Our DJ was Brian and I could not have asked for a better DJ! The online planning tool they provide allows you to easily plan everything you need for the big day! Brian was so professional to work with and helped our night go by perfectly! He played everything I wanted and managed to keep the dance floor full the whole night! I also used Selective Sound for uplighting and a monogram, and I couldn't be more happy with the way the room turned out! It's definitely worth the extra money and provided that wow factor I was looking for! I can't thank Brian and all the staff at Selective Sound enough for making our special day perfect!

I really can't say enough about the service provided by JayR and the Selective Sound family. Our wedding required 16 different vendors and we can say without a doubt that SSE was the most responsive, flexible and understanding vendor on our list. The team at SSE really took the extra time to fully understand the type of wedding we were trying to have and they did a great job of both respecting our wishes and add their creative recommendations as well. I would recommend the SSE team to anyone looking for lighting and DJ for any celebration in NE Ohio.

We loved Selective Sound and they truly made our big day magical. Honestly Selective Sound was our favorite vendor throughout the wedding planning process. JayR is both accommodating and responsive. He bent over backwards to answer our questions and work with our other vendors. Our wedding day was a hit with the DJ, UpLighting, Photobooth and Confetti. Our guests never stopped dancing. We highly recommend Selective Sound to anyone and everyone!

Selective Sound was great to work with. Jay R is VERY responsive and so easy to work with. I used the DJ services as well as uplighting. Our DJ was Christian - I loved him! He was very personable and professional. He made me laugh and made me feel comfortable. I trusted him, and I trusted he knew what my guests wanted to hear to have fun. He kept the party going and everyone enjoyed themselves! I don't have one complaint. The uplights were perfect and beautiful as well. I would recommend Selective Sound to everyone I know! It was a very enjoyable experience working with SS, and I can't thank them enough for making my wedding day perfect!

We are so happy that we picked Selective Sound as a our DJ company. Brian was a pleasure to work with, kept our wedding on track and incredibly organized. The dance floor was full all night, he played all of the songs on our "must" list, and he was awesome at announcing our wedding party. I would defiantly recommend Selective Sound, and Brian, to any one planning a wedding!

In all honesty, I could not have picked a better DJ. Jay r was on point all night and ensured that everything ran smoothly. Since our ceremony and reception were in the same room, he did our ceremony music as well. He kept the dance floor moving and was able to play off my guests energy. There was an excellent mix of old songs, new songs, and slow songs.

Jay r ensured he had everybody's name correctly and was even great about changing things last minute - and did it with a smile! He was on point during the entire planning process and throughout the entirety of the night.

Jay r also did our uplighting and photo booth. The photo booth was a big hit and the attendant even makes a scrap book of all the picture strips that were amazing and fun to look through!

We may have gone over our DJ budget, but it was worth every penny!

Our D.J., Jay R from Selective Sound was the perfect DJ for my wedding. The music, up-lighting and center piece pin-lighting he provided created an amazing atmosphere for our wedding reception. THE ONLY REASON OUR WEDDING RECEPTION WAS A HUGE SUCCESS WAS DUE TO JAY R'S GUIDANCE. We got so many compliments from my guests on our DJ. Our videographer asked " did you hire professional dancers, because I never had to videotape a dance floor for so long." Jay R took care of every detail and even checked out the wedding hall room to see what color up-lighting and pin lighting would work best at the reception venue. Jay R and his team worked with us on our music selection and made sure we had the perfect music for our wedding guests. Our pin lights placed in the reception hall were strategically positioned to shine on each of our tall flower arrangements - it looked amazing. I truly believe that Jay R and his team can make your reception hall dreams come true. I highly recommend Jay R. and Selective Sound!

Wow wow wow is all I can say! Jay R and his staff were amazing. They kept the party going all night and made plenty of announcements throughout the night reminding guests of the photo booth, guest signing and every little detail was outstanding!
He also did the microphones at our ceremony and those were great as well. Everyone could hear us, no problem...
I feel like Jay R is Family. He honestly took his time with us and never once was he the center of attention... I will be sure to tell all of my friends how awesome he and the company are!! He made our night very memorable! I truly do have a new friend now!
Thank you Jay R for all of the work you and selective sound put into to making our special night just that much more special!!!

My husband and I highly recommend Selective Sound! Jay R was so nice and easy to work with. We loved our MC, Christian! Everyone knows that a DJ can make or break a wedding and with a 350 person wedding, having a great DJ was even more important. Our dance floor was packed the entire night and everyone had such a blast. I had SO many people who told me that they loved the DJ! They also made an awesome monogram for us and added extra lighting to our venue. You can't go wrong with Selective Sound Entertainment!

We used Selective Sound for our wedding ceremony,reception and photo booth.
Jay R is great and helped us every step of the way.
DJ Rich was able to use the music we wanted for the ceremony and it was amazing.
The reception was perfect and even though we didn't have alot of songs requested
He made sure he played music that fit well with what we did request,and he was able to do the announcements for the speeches and special dances.

DJ Danny was outstanding! It was really important to me that our dance floor wasn't dead, and he really got everybody dancing!!! He used a lot of variety in his music choices, and was really able to read the audience. I am a musician myself, and was very impressed.

Selective Sound Entertainment was a great vendor to work with for our daughter’s wedding. Our DJ, Tony, kept the reception hoping all night. Our dance floor was filled the entire night and we are still getting compliments on how great the music was! They are a wonderful company to work with and responded to all of our questions and concerns promptly. I would definitely recommend them.

My fiancé, Adam, and I worked with Jay R from selective sound. Not only was he excellent in helping us to plan the flow of our reception, but he had many years of experience at our venue, so he was able to give us sound advice for the day of. Words can not even begin to describe how much fun our reception was! The music selections were excellent and the dance floor was packed the entire night!! Our reception would not have been the same without him and we are so thankful we had him on our team!! I would highly recommend working with Jay R!!

Rich and Selective Sound were amazing. We didn't think our group would be big on dancing, and we didn't do a first dance so we were worried that the dancing wouldn't get started, but the dance floor was packed the whole time and everyone had so much fun thanks to Rich's great music selection. Rich and Selective Sound were so great, and we were so happy to work with them! Highly recommended.

Our DJ was Jay R and he did an absolutely amazing job. Everyone was out on the dance floor the entire night, the song selections were perfect, and the night was one we will never forget! The uplighting in the room was the perfect color and amount and it gave our room such an elegant and romantic look. We had a blast at our wedding and I would recommend Jay R and selective sound to anyone! They will not disappoint!

Selective Sound went above and beyond for us on our wedding day. Our DJ was DJ Danny. He took the extra time to meet with us and also edited a few songs for our customized intro. We also had a special toast that went perfect as well. He also provided a lot of knowledge of what we should do and not do, but was never against us creating our own flavor. You sometimes get nervous when booking vendors for your big day, but Selective Sound is very professional and we were highly satisfied. They will definitely make your day one to remember.

Thank you again to Jay R, DJ Danny, and the entire staff at Selective Sound for working hard and doing the job right professionaly!

Best DJ around! One of the main party focuses on a wedding day is the dancing. Jay R kept the music flowing and played what the crowd wanted to dance to. He was very professional and well spoken during the entire night. This isn't the only wedding I have been apart of that Jay R was the DJ, and he never disappoints. Jay R was very prepared for our meetings and very helpful to make sure that the entire night went as planned. He had great ideas and helped when needed. You can tell he has years of experience and this wasn't his first time. If I ever need a DJ for anything else, I will definitely be using Selective Sound Entertainment - because I know the event will be a hit!

Jay was a pleasure to work with. He was energetic, professional and very willing to give his opinions and advice. He kept our guests up and on the dance floor all night (including the older crowd) and always knew when to speed it up or slow it down. He listened to the guests and kept everyone entertained.

As far as the flow of events we didn't even have a second of dead time. He kept it moving and made sure we were where we needed to be so the guests didn't get bored. Great MC and definitely knew what he was doing.

They have several DJs at the company and I'm sure all are great but Jay is simply phenomenal. I have guests telling me my wedding was the best they have ever attended and I know that was in a huge part because of Jay's skill.

Jay R and the Selective Sound crew were amazing. The lighting was absolutely beautiful and the DJ kept the dance floor packed all night. We had Rich as our DJ. I cannot say enough great things about Rich and Selective Sounds in General. We had been assigned another DJ in the beginning and we originally did not feel a good connection between us and that DJ and we called JR at Selective Sounds and he took care of it immediately and found Rich for us which we felt very comfortable with. Rich totally understood what we wanted and made sure to walk us through the entire night at least a month before and again the week of the wedding. Being the undecisive bride I was, i made last minute changes and he never was annoyed or bothered. He gave me his cell phone number and was so professional and kind. He made our night AMAZING!!! Everyone was on the dance floor all night long and it was amazing!!!

We worked with Jay R for our June wedding and there aren't enough good things to say about him! We were so comfortable from day one. He made us feel like he had our best interests at heart and really wanted us to have a spectacular evening.

We met in person a few times and Jay R was always accessible via email or telephone if we had questions. We used Selective Sound for both our DJ services and lighting. We got so many compliments on the lighting and our pictures turned out beautiful because of it!

We couldn't be happier for the services we received at such a reasonable price. We would highly recommend!

I had Scott for a DJ for my reception and he was excellent! He was so flexible in meeting with me multiple times before the wedding to make sure he knew exactly what we wanted for music. He kept our schedule for the evening and stayed in control of the event. Scott stayed a few extra hours after he was planning on leaving, and because of that, all of our guests had a great time dancing! I couldn't have asked for anyone better than Scott!

From start to finish Jay R at Selective Sound was awesome. We felt at ease with the whole process and Jay R suggested a lot of the planning and preparation for the event from the music to the uplighting. Our guests told us that they 1. Had never seen uplighting like that before. 2. The music was awesome all night and the dance floor was packed from beginning to end- which was awesome. 3. The person who owns Roby Lees Reception Hall in Newton Falls was taking pictures of the hall as it was set up by Selective Sound. He stated he never saw his hall look like that before. What can we say it was an amazing evening and it would not have happened without Jay R and his crew- thanks again.

The Uplighting for our wedding reception was gorgeous and we absolutely loved the atmosphere the lighting created! Our expectations were truly met and definitely worth the cost. Jay R was great to work with throughout the process and was always available when it came to our emails.
