Very Considerate and Experienced
I had Terry at my wedding. Unfortunately the day before the wedding thunderstorm Beta changed paths and decided to hit straight at us. Poor Terry had been in contact with our Day Of Coordinator multiple times before hours before the wedding because it originally was meant to be outside and then the reception on a large deck. He did this to not stress me out (even though I'm completely free and easy). I think that is so courteous and considerate to not try to stress out the bride/wedding party. Its something that seems small but I honestly do not think all people would do that. It just proves that they are very experienced in the field.
Also, like others said, they are very economically friendly and that was so beneficial since my husband had lost his job during covid.I had Terry at my wedding. We highly recommend Jose from Selby Entertainment.
First off, the price was just unheard of! $300 for 6 hours (of DJ work at our reception) was just not even real. I was definitely skeptical when my husband (fiancee at the time) told me he hired someone for $300. My friends were telling us to hire a DJ for 4 times that price. But I chose my battle and didn't fight with my husband so we kept the DJ. However, I was still afraid up to the wedding day (I'm a paranoia, can't you tell?).
Secondly, we booked them two months before the wedding day. Being two months in advance, they were flexible to fill the DJ need for us. Making sure all the songs for all the critical moments were selected. The DJ called us a few days in advance to remind us that we haven't selected a couple of songs.
On the wedding day, Jose (our DJ) showed up on time with all the necessary equipment to setup for our 375 people wedding. He was very professional throughout the wedding. He helped us stick to the wedding schedule. He played the songs that we requested. He helped MC'd announcements as we requested. He stayed until we shut down our wedding at midnight.
After the experience, I do believe you don't have to pay a ton of money to get good service! We highly recommend Selby Entertainment, and Jose in particular.We highly recommend Jose from Selby Entertainment.

Words cannot express how many times I would love to thank Joseph and Selby Entertainment.
The instructions on the form were a little confusing so it wasn't clear that I wanted them to play the music for my ceremony. THANKFULLY Joseph was reassuring and told me it was no big deal and he would take care of it. And he did, PERFECTLY!
Joseph was nice enough to even go find my grandparents so they could walk into the reception, I think they got lost haha
The night ran so smoothly, and I cannot thank Joseph enough for all that he did for us. The music was perfect, the volume was perfect - those who didn't want to dance were still able to chat. Everyone seemed to have a real good time, I even got a lot of compliments that it was the best wedding they had been to!! He directed everything perfectly, even when he was packing up he was able to make an announcement that the guests were to blow bubbles and wait for the couple to leave.
Thank you Selby Entertainment, Marcie and most of all: Joseph for everything. You truly made my wedding the best night ever, I couldn't have done it without you!!!Words cannot express how many times I would love to thank Joseph and Selby Entertainment.

Terry was more then willing to make last minute changes and was great to work with. He was not as outgoing and enthusiastic as we wanted but it was a smaller wedding so it worked out better. Selby Entertainment did an exception job as the DJ at our wedding reception. The DJ sent to assist us was Amanda, while we were skeptical at first, our fears were quickly dismissed. The DJ, Amanda, was ready to go before our ceremony even began, and she brought along special light effects as well, as we had requested at our booking. Amanda was a wonderful DJ that did a great job announcing our bridal party as we entered, as well as announcing all the other events as necessary throughout the course of our reception! We couldn't have asked for a more fun, respective, outgoing DJ! The songs played at our wedding helped to keep the guests involved and enjoying themselves. The overall quality for Selby Entertainment is by far a 5 star rating. The price we paid was also an exceptional value considering what we received. Marcie & Jody Selby went way out of their way to make my wedding a huge success and exactly what we wanted! Marcie handled all the details beautifully on the front end, including finding a discontinued karaoke version of one of our favorite songs, and Jody did a fantastic job as our Karaoke DJ. The guests LOVED participating in Karaoke, and the Selby's were more than responsive to our every request. I am so happy we chose them, they helped make our wedding something really special.Marcie & Jody Selby went way out of their way to make my wedding a huge success and exactly what we wanted! Prices were fantastic & they are very professional & get back to you quickly. I was a little disappointed in some of the music....didn't seem to play everything we'd requested, but no one knew except us. They had trouble with the sound system, though (even though I had no idea...found out after the fact), so maybe it wasn't their fault.Prices were fantastic & they are very professional & get back to you quickly. These guys were great! Angela, the dj, arrived early and did her job. I'm rating 4.5 out of 5.0 since we had to provide a table and had to purchase a canopy to have as a cover for the dj in case it were to rain. Even though there was zero chance of rain that evening we were told she still had to have a cover. Also, we had to find a few songs for her that somehow she could't find on her own. We had to load them on a flashdrive and she had to copy them to her system at the reception. But overall, great and afftordable.These guys were great! Angela, the dj, arrived early and did her job. Was a little disappointed...
Selby Entertainment offers a really good price, but (at least at our wedding) that comes with a cost. Leading up to the event, I sent an extremely detailed schedule of what time everything should happen and how tables were to be numbered/called for dinner. Responsiveness was not the greatest, as I had to follow up most emails sent to the DJ to ensure that they had been received.
The schedule was largely unchanged for the DJ, despite the fact that the wedding was pushed back half an hour by rain. His schedule didn't start until 7:30'ish and the wedding ceremony concluded just before 7. He was instructed to follow the timeline provided.
The primary problem came at dinner time, when it clearly stated in the instructions given to call each table in numerical order. He started with table 13 and skipped around. People were still sitting around without food at 8:30pm even though specific instructions were given to call a new table every 1.5 minutes.
I made half a dozen trips over to his table to ask for the first dance to be announced, the final visit being with the bride alongside me (because she was not happy that I was being ignored). The DJ actually asked us if we wanted to wait for the current song to end or just cut to the dance song....duh.
One of our guests mentioned later that he had the same DJ at his wedding and experienced similar issues, although he used some more derogatory language to describe that situation.
Overall this was a very average DJ company at a decent price. I was extremely pleased with the prices of Selby entertainment, and our DJ Kim seemed very helpful in advance, but I have to admit our DJ was the only part of our wedding day that I was not completely satisfied with. She did not play a good variety of songs that we requested and her timing was poor. Even after our discussion, she tried to do the bouquet toss 10 minutes into the dancing when things were just getting started (I, the bride, had to stop her). She seemed to have no discretion on song choice based on the feel of the crowd, transitions weren't great the music wasn't loud enough, and she told us she would bring lighting, but she didn't...She didn't play any music underneath the grand entrance of the bridal party. Knowing what I know now, I would have conducted our phone conversations differently in advance, but I expected a little more natural feel for good, professional choices. They took my money
I hate to write this, but I have no way of contacting the owner because all numbers have been changed. I gave them a deposit to hold the date for my daughter's wedding, like I did for all the other vendors. When everything started with COVID I reached out to them to check on everyone's health, but I did not get any call backs from any of my messages. I continued to call, but got nothing. Then all phone numbers were changed. I tried to call the bank to see if they could help me, but Marcia Selby had already cashed out my deposit. I have tried everything to contact this company, but I have had no luck. This has been very disappointing! I do hope everyone is okay due to COVID, but for an entire company to change their numbers...If anyone reading this knows how I can get my deposit back, please respond to this or how I can get ahold of anyone from this company. I would greatly appreciate it! They had such good reviews and great recommendations from others. I hate writing a bad review for someone, but I dont want somebody else to have the experience I did with my Dj Angelia. I understand that it had rained the day of my wedding and that made it a little harder since I was having an outside wedding, but the sun had come out by my ceremony time and it was beautiful. The first problem that I had was when the preacher started to talk with the mic it sounded horrible. It kept cutting in and out and got to the point where the preacher had to move the mike out of the way. For the reception I asked her to play 2 mother daughter songs for both of my moms and even tho we went over it several times she played the wrong songs. As well as the music in the tent sounded horrible and kept cutting in and out. I understand that problems do happen and things maybe out of the Dj control, but on top of that the Dj was not interactive with the guest at all she sat on her butt the whole time even when the music was messing up she didnt move. It was very upsetting because the dj being interactive was important to me and angelia( the dj) and I had talked about that before had and she didnt get up once.
