Tasty and perfect

Rum runners did an amazing job with our cake! They only had a few vague ideas to go off of (my husband wanted to be in charge of the cake ;p ) but they made it work and they provided a super tasty and beautiful cake!

Best Cake I ever ate

Hidden Gem

Rum Runner's did not come up on my initial search for bakeries in Savannah, but they are by far the best choice. It's a family-run local bakery who is on point. They worked within my budget and threw out ideas on ways to save money rather than up-selling me. That's how I knew I was in good hands. I gave them inspiration photos and they blew those pinterest pictures out of the water. Those cakes were my favorite part of my wedding, simple and beautiful. They were the best tasting cake I have ever had too. I would highly recommend getting your wedding cake from Rum Runners.

Beautiful and delicious wedding cake

Meggan was so great to work with! She did our wedding cake for our wedding at Old Fort Jackson on 11/10/18 and it was absolutely delicious!! She was flexible with our schedule (my husband and I couldn’t come in together to taste cakes, so she made a to-go box with cupcake samples and frosting for me to take home). The butter cake with buttercream frosting was a unanimous choice. I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable the cake and delivery was. I gave her a couple of inspiration pictures and told her to put her own creative spin on it and she totally nailed it! It was really beautiful! The delivery and setup was prompt and professional. I would definitely recommend Meggan and Savannah Rum Runners Bakery to anyone looking for a delicious and beautiful cake.

Great price and quality of cake. They were able to make the cake gluten free and you couldn't even tell. We got the hummingbird flavor and everyone loved it. I had a specific design in mind for the cake, they gave me their cell phone number to send the picture and the cake looked exactly like the picture. Very happy with how this turned out!

Working with Meggan and her team at Rum Runners Bakery was a great experience. We traveled around Savannah making cake tasting appointments, but had a very difficult time finding a cake we liked for the budget we had. Upon our first meeting, Meggan worked with us to figure out a budget-friendly cake option and went through a great cake tasting experience. (She even let us take home a little extra to let our family try it!)

The cake we chose was the Italian wedding cake with hints of pecans and coconut with cream cheese frosting. It was so delicious! On the day of the wedding, we had our florist bring in flowers for the cake, and together they added them to the cake beautifully. The cake was three tiers but the bottom was actually not cake, but decorated as if it was! Then we used sheet cake to distribute to our guests. I highly recommend this option for those on a budget. It worked out great. We were extremely happy with the cake and received many compliments.

Big thanks to Meggan and her team for helping to make our day perfect. We highly recommend Rum Runners Bakery for anyone interested in finding the perfect wedding cake!

We used Savannah Rum Runners Bakery and Cafe after a dear friend gave us a few places to try and we absolutely fell in love with there cakes. We was not sure what we wanted at first but Meggan worked with us and gave us multiple options and different directions we could go to keep the cost Low. We actually had 2 different flavors of cake/cupcakes and we will also get the Traditional ( freeze the top cake) Anniversary cake freshly made for our 1 yr Anniversary so we do not have to have frozen cake. We had a plan of 100 guests and got what we wanted at a great price. Thank you so much.

ur cake was the most beautiful cake I've ever seen AND it was the tastiest! We actually went with a cake with 4 tiers, 3 fake and the bottom was real. We used a sheet cake to help serve all 150ish guests. This was the less expensive option. I've had other cake that did not match up to the flavor of ours at all! We used buttercream icing, yellow cake with raspberry filling. They will also work with your budget and help you pick out the best option for your day!

I love Rum Runners so much!! The staff was so wonderful to work with. They helped us pick all of our flavors & icing (we had 3 different ones). They also helped us figure out a way to make wedding cake cost effective. Some cakes can really break the bank and this was a non issue with Rum Runners without sacrificing the beauty of what your wedding cake should be. They were worried about taste and presentation and they nailed it. They also offer an anniversary cake which was so nice to celebrate on your first anniversary. Communication was excellent too. Our wedding actually got cancelled at the last minute do to a hurricane that required us to evacuate. We were able to get right in touch with them and we were refunded without hesitation. This meant so much to us because some vendors did not handle it the same way. We would've rescheduled but we decided to just take our family with us and elope since a friend of ours was the officiant. I would work with Rum Runners again in a heartbeat for any event that needed a cake. They are one of a kind.

Our wedding cake was amazing. They were very professional and creative. Our wedding cake was beyond perfect. I still go back and look at pictures of our cake. They also made cupcakes, mini cupcakes, buckeyes, and cake pops for our wedding. Everyone loved all of the desserts. Thank you so much!

I am so happy that I was able to book Savannah Rum Runners Bakery for our wedding cake! It was so beautiful and ridiculously tasty!! The vanilla bean with the buttercream frosting was just unreal! The staff is so passionate about their job and made an awesome groomscake of my husbands jersey from a picture I sent them. Thank you so much for being the icing on my wedding day!! My new wife and I could not have been happier with the desserts and the service we received from Rum Runners. They were one of several bakeries that our wedding planner recommended and after a (free) tasting at their bakery, they were the obvious choice. We chose cup cakes for our wedding instead of a traditional large cake so that we could have several flavors and I also ordered a cake from them for the day after the wedding which was also the bride's birthday. Everything was delicious and delivered on time.

I've worked with RumRunners both as a wedding industry professional and as a bride. They do excellent work, and are very engaged and caring when they work with you. My cakes were beautiful, just like every other cake they'd ever make when I worked with them. Meggan was particularly gracious, doing a tasting for me, my mother, my mother-in-law, and my fiance. She was so great about everything. She streamlined the whole process, and made decision making very easy. The day of my wedding, I got very behind. We did several things DIY, and with all the projects, and general lack of sleep, no one was able to get to the cake to decorate it. So Meggan took care of it. It was so great of her to help out like that. We sincerely appreciated it, and thanks to her, everything looked great. The cakes were amazing. We got the Chocolate Rum, which really chocolatey, but complex enough that you could taste the rum too. We also got the Peach Schnapps, and the pecan pie cake, which was my favorite. My guests loved them, and we were so grateful to all of their hard work.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience with the lovely ladies of Savannah Rum Runners. From initial outreach, to taste testing, to pricing, to delivery - it was all SO, so great! The cakes were delicious, designed EXACTLY how I showed her (thanks, Pinterest), and delivered on time with no hiccups. Will definitely use again in the future for any cake needs! :)

We ordered our groom's cake and our wedding cutting cake from Savannah Rum Runners. They were very open to our ideas and we had a tasting beforehand. We went went with a traditional cake for the cutting cake and a pistachio groom's cake. So yummy! They looked great and were very tasty! They delivered right on time. Would highly recommend.

When our event planner set up a tasting at Savannah Rum Runners Bakery we couldn't have been more impressed with the quality and freshness of the cake. We used them for 3 different birthdays prior to our wedding. In my opinion they are the best in Savannah. If you are apprehensive just give them call or stop by. Be your own judge.

Rum Runners created delicious, beautiful cakes for our wedding. Meggan was a great communicator and saw our vision from the beginning. She was patient with little changes we made along the way, created a custom banana's foster filling based on a magazine spread we saw, and went above and beyond to make an amazing groom's cake of the ship my husband served on in the Navy. Our cakes were perfection! Another flawless recommendation from our planner Andrea Gray Harper!

Rum Runner's was fantastic to work with! The cake tasting was very impressive and they were extremely friendly and helpful at making suggestions to create the perfect cake to please myself and my husband. We ended up adding a Groom's Cheesecake later on and I'm so glad we did! The price was extremely reasonable and everything was DELICIOUS, delivered on time, and looked beautiful. It was exactly what we wanted. Would highly recommend!

This was the best cake ever and so beautiful! Our flavors were coconut and Oreo. Every single piece was gone. We didn't even get any! :) That never happens. What ever you do book them for your cake. The ladies here are so sweet and accommodating. Worth every single penny!

The team at Rum Runners was nothing short of the best! They were so easy to work with and were willing to pretty much make anything in my imagination come to life in a cake! Our wedding cake was beautiful and yummy! The cake was the talk of the night and had guest wanting more! The grooms cake was out of this world! I showed a couple pictures and what she created was far better then anything I could dream of! The groom was impressed! I have heard so many great things about Rum Runners and everything I heard was true! I look forward to our one year anniversary to enjoy it all over again!

Meggan and the Rum Runners team are awesome! The cake was delicious and beautiful. We've been back for mini rum cakes in the bakery often.. and got the big version for Christmas presents. They are a great local bakery - the type that remembers your name and truly cares that you're happy!

We almost didn't visit Rum Runners based on one other not-so-great review of this bakery, and boy wouldn't that have been a mistake!?!

We had absolutely the best experience with Meggan at Rum Runners. She is such an amazing person and talented at what she does. The first time we visited my grandma and I were on a girls planning trip to Savannah, we came in for a tasting and were blown away with the options and combinations that Meggan presented us. I was also thrilled to hear that she was willing to try new funky flavor combos, and would basically do anything that we wanted to try. Since my fiance was particularly interested in the cake and wasn't able to make the first tasting Meggan set up a second tasting for us where he could be present. What a treat!

Also, she was very upfront and the cost of materials and her time when it came to some more labor intensive requests. When we asked for Pralines she was certainly willing to do them but advised that the cost of nuts was up and that she would have to pass that onto us, and it might not fit in the budget that we talked about. I really appreciated her honesty and candor about those things. Also, she has a great selection of servers and stands, but was totally willing to use the pieces that we had as well.

We ended up doing three cakes, a couple dozen mini pies (the cutest things on the planet by-the-way), and french style macaroons, and everything was absolutely amazing.

Word of advice, take Meggan's recommendation on the amount of desserts that you need, at the last minute I upped the size of one of the cakes (mostly for aesthetic reasons), and we have more than 3/4 of that cake in our freezer. I'm not upset about it because its DELICIOUS, but it was unnecessary, so if you don't want left-overs (and I'm not sure why you wouldn't), then her gauge of the amount you need is spot-on.

Cake was delicious. We had a large sheet cake (not a super formal wedding) with writing on the cake to match the invitation. Cake looked great, and tasted better.

I loved my wedding cake! Meggan is great. We had fun meeting with her for a tasting, and she delivered exactly what I was looking for. The cake was fresh and tasted delicious; we had a small wedding so had just a two-tiered cake. The top was almond flavored, and the bottom was butter. I had provided her with a picture of what I was looking for and she delivered exactly what I had hoped, including the placement of the fresh flowers we ordered for the cake. Meggan, thank you! I highly recommend Rum Runners!

Rum Runners certainly knows their cakes! of all kinds. From planning to our wedding night, everything was flawless.

And our cake was vegan/gluten free. Because I am Celiac, this was important. I did not get sick--so they did a great job!!

And beautiful and affordable too. Thank you Rum Runners!

We had our wedding cake made from Rum Runners Bakery. We had heard of them from word of mouth, so we stopped by for a tasting. All the cakes were excellent! Meghan also serves breakfast and lunch and can get very busy from time to time. It may take her a little while to get back to you, but she always will. Try to call rather than email. We even left our iPad on one visit and Meghan kindly shipped it back to us at no extra charge.

Meghan is a wonderful baker and does a beautiful job on decorating too. We ended up choosing a cake that had fondant icing, but I was concerned as I had heard it's not really edible or can be too sweet. Meghan assured me that her fondant was very good, so we took a chance and went with it. The cake tasted awesome! It was so elegantly decorated. It was perfect! We loved it and got several complements from our guests. Also, on your 1st anniversary, Meghan will send a couples complimentary portion of your cake so you don't have to freeze your cake for a year. It is a very nice touch. We highly recommend Meghan at Rum Runners.

Amazing! After having difficulty with a local cake maker, Megan at Savannah Rum Runners was helpful and efficient at supplying our cakes. We had to call the week before the wedding to set this up! The gluten free cake and traditional cake we ordered were incredible. They delivered and everything. I definitely recommend using them!

Had our wedding cake and groom's cake done with them. THey were both great! We didn't really give much direction for our wedding cake, and they managed to take our bad ideas and turn it into a beautiful cake! Also, my husband really wanted a Red Sox cake, and he was ECSTATIC with how his turned out. All in all, they did a great job!

Delicious! They made a beautiful cake. I don't like fondant and they can take butter cream and create ruffles to provide it with texture to look like fondant. It was such a hit that we didn't have any left and had to get the venue to save us a piece before it was gone. They let you use the entire cake to serve so you don't have to freeze the top layer to eat on your one year anniversary. Instead call them a couple weeks before your anniversary and they make a mini cake for you and your husband. I love this because who really wants to eat cake that has been frozen for a year. They were very reasonably priced and easy to work with.

I had found a picture on pinterest and it seemed limit would be pretty difficult and expensive to replicate, but Savannah Rum Runners Bakery did it perfectly and didn't charge an arm and a leg for it! Their prices are reasonable, cake is delicious and they are so easy to communicate and work with!

Wonderful!! The cake was not just beautiful but delicious!! And priced more than fairly. Megan made the cake exactly as we requested and it looked stunning. So many guests complimented it. But more than people were raving about it's appearance, everyone loved the way it tasted! I will definitely visit the bakery for all my baked treats!

These cakes taste twice as good as other wedding cakes offered in Savannah, for half the price! don't believe me, do a taste test! We had red velvet cake with cream cheese on the bottom layer. We had key lime cake for the center. BOTH AMAZING! Got many compliments on how stunning and unique our cake was. She worked with whatever topper we chose. Megan. If you are from out of town, this is where all the locals recommend! ENJOY!

Rum Runners prepared a beautiful three tiered, gluten free cake for our wedding guests. The cake and icing were delicious! They also incorporated real flowers from our florist!

We originally weren't going to have a cake since we had a dessert station but decided to do a last minute gluten free cake. Megan at Rum Runners was very helpful in working with us last minute to make that happen! The cake was delivered on time and was super yummy and just what we wanted!

Rum Runners did our cupcakes for our wedding 4/2/2017. We booked them without tasting since this was a destination wedding, and we were definitely happy with our results! We got 3 different flavors, one of which was vegan, and they were also able to accommodate my niece's peanut allergy. All of our guests said how much they loved the taste. I sent them photos of how I wanted everything to look and it was perfect! They communicated with me through phone and email, and when we got to town we stopped by the shop and paid in full and had a light lunch in the shop. Delivery was easy and they set up the cupcakes without us being there which was nice. I would definitely recommend them for someone wanting cupcakes for their wedding.

While I had some issues in the beginning, they re staffed and I had quite an enjoyable experience to finish it out. The ladies were lovely and the bakery is adorable. I knew they were the ones I wanted to use for my wedding as soon as I opened one of their books. The cakes were amazing and so yummy. We picked a pretty simple cake but it was put together so beautifully. It was better than I could have imagined. I also did a grooms cake which was a johnny walker blue label bottle and it was so real looking. We also picked a flavor we didn't taste and it was unreal! The cake was so moist throughout and we didn't have any leftovers so I guess the guests approved of it as well ;) thanks rum runners for not disappointing and giving us a masterpiece in cake form!

We did multiple tastings and Savannah Rum Runners was the best by a long shot! Instead of a large cake, we decided on a small cheesecake for cutting purposes and a dessert bar with cheesecake shooters, mini and regular size cupcakes and brownie bites. My husband and I are cheesecake fanatics and Megan's was the best we had ever had. The blueberry vodka cupcakes are amazing. Book them- trust me, you won't be disappointed!

I ordered a simple 8 inch cake for my small wedding reception. They delivered it to my venue and it was exactly as I had ordered. Being a destination wedding, I was unable to sample any flavors prior to the wedding. I took a risk and ordered something unique, the peach cake with buttercream frosting, and was happy with my decision. It was very good.

Rum runners bakery was the most unique and creative bakery out there. Our grooms cake as well as wedding cakes ranged from traditional red velvet and strawberry flavors to salted carmel whiskey and irish car bomb. The one downside is it took a lot of work on our end to receive any kind of invoice or pricing however with that as the only hassel....the cake was amazing, the staff was friendly and accommodation during our tasting and everything went off without a hitch in the end.

We loved our wedding cake! We had a three layer cake and each layer was a different flavor. Chocolate, coconut and hummingbird - all delicious.We kept the flavors a secret from our guests until the big day and they loved all their yummy options.

The cake was a bit more expensive than some other vendors we looked at, but we went with them because they had more options for flavors, which was important to us. We communicated via phone and email and at times there were lags of a week or more before I'd get a question answered.

All in all, though, we were very pleased with our cake and the service, and the bakery itself is absolutely charming.

The cake was delicious and everyone loved it. It wasn't too expensive. The staff was friendly and flexible and willing to work around my schedule, which was awesome. The only negatives I would say were - 1) My cake was supposed to have red/wine colored grapes but instead they were purple 2) We purchased tiramisu from them as a dessert as well but it was not real tiramisu. 3) It was somewhat difficult to get in touch with them via email, which is my correspondence of choice. But none of those things are too big a deal. The cake was still beautiful, the desserts delicious. We also purchased canoli's that everyone raved about.

the price was Great and they had the cake ready on time and was flexible with the pick up. There were a lot of weddings that week. I couldnt have asked for better. The other places I called were asking for a price that was 3-4 times that amount and we were having a small wedding.

It was sometimes a little difficult to get in contact. However, the cake was lovely and a great value. We used a cheesecake as the groom's cake - it was absolutely wonderful, and Meggan painted the top of it, replicating a painting for us - a great surprise for the groom.

Overall the quality of their cheesecake is great! Meghan was able to get me to try (and like) things I would normally not eat! While working with Meghan ran smoothly and was a great experience, some of her team members were not so great. In the weeks before our wedding Meghan was unavailable and instead of telling me this and answering questions I had, her team would “take messages” and my calls were never returned.

After finally getting a hold of Meghan everything was worked out and the day of our event we had wonderful cheesecake shooters!

My cake was the most delicious wedding cake I've ever eaten! I highly recommend their hummingbird cake! The only reason I didn't give them a 5.0 is because my cake looked a little different than I asked for, but still beautiful. My wedding planner said the bakery would not return her calls, but I never had a problem getting in contact with them. All together I was happy with Savannah Rum Runners :)

We loved our cake!!! It was perfect, and it was delicious!! (from what I tried). We barely had any left!! The only issue we had was responsiveness. After we chose our location, I got stationed in California. We were unable to go in person, as this was essentially a destination wedding for us. Trying to communicate was tough. In their defense, we are very understanding of small/ short staffing. Leading up to our wedding, hurricane Irma was rearing her ugly head at Savannah. They were amazing and told us they would find an oven to get our cake done. The week of, communication was wonderful, and we were assured that unless something catastrophic happened, they would make sure we had a cake. That helped ease our minds as we flew into the storm, and had to watch from so far without knowing much of what was happening. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend them!! Just be patient, as they are working hard and doing what they can with the staffing they have. Can't wait to visit our family in Savannah again, and stop by for something delicious from the bakery.

My wedding cake was so ugly! It didn't have any of the details I specified. It looked green. I will say it was a tasty cake, but not what I had requested. The owner did refund 1/2 of the cake cost. Over all I'd still do business with them, just be VERY SPECIFIC!

Rum Runners was okay. We were excited when we booked with them, but after they had our business, the responsiveness diminished. Our emails went ignored, phone calls unreturned. Eventually we had to personally go in to talk to someone. They had forgotten all the details of the cake we had ordered. It was obvious that they had lost our file/order. For the price, I really expected better customer service.

I got married in Tybee. I'm from South Carolina. As far as getting ahold of someone and planning it, that was easy. She seemed to understand what I wanted and everything was good. They didn't show up with the cupcakes until 10 minutes before my wedding, when they were supposed to be there 1 hour before. The cupcakes looked like they were decorated by kids. The large cupcakes that was our anniversary cake looked good but that was it. They tasted like grocery store cupcakes. She did not mention to us that they needed the tray back. I received a call from her a week later rudely asking where it was, and I informed her that I will mail it, that I didn't know she needed it back. She gave me a deadline to mail it back or she was going to charge me $100 for a plastic tray!!! I mailed it that day, and received a call from her every day until she got it. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. I do not recommend her for weddings.

The cake was ugly and the two tiers were not proportional in height (it looked like a top hat and all our guests laughed at howridiculous this cake was). We were charged more than the price quoted to us after designing the cake with Meggan at the tasting. The lemon bottom layer was uncooked and had completely sunken in on itself - did not resemble AT ALL the fluffy lemon cake we had tried at the tasting. When we took the cake apart to cut, all the icing from the bottom tier stuck to the top tier (we had been assured this would not happen). THE CAKE WAS NOT DECORATED when my dad went to pick it up the morning of the wedding, they blamed us when it clearly said 10am on the invoice. The hummingbird cake was dry and didn't taste anything like the one we were given at our tasting.

It was VERY difficult to get a hold of Meggan, and we waited weeks before getting responses to emails, and got nowhere on the phone. Even after complaining about the unbelievably poor quality product via email a week ago, we still haven't even goten a response! Unbelievably poor service and terrible product. It was the only thing that did not go perfectly on our wedding day, and we are reretting not going with someone else.

Very dissatisfied and disappointed in Rum Runners... we had a great tasting and decided to go with them for our wedding cake. We got married the weekend Hurricane Matthew visited Savannah, and a lot of our vendors had to cancel on us. When we spoke with Rum Runners they assured us they would be there with our cake. I got to the reception and was very upset to find there was no cake. I understand the issues that came with the hurricane but Rum Runners made no attempt to tell us they would not be able to deliver our cake, and posted on their Facebook and Instagram that they were open and baking the DAY OF our wedding!! Very upsetting, we never got to have our wedding cake :(
After the wedding we had to reach out to Rum Runners about the issue, to which they told us they would cut us a check and it would be in the mail. We were looking for customer service that goes above and beyond, if you are too I would not recommend looking here.
