    A thrilling adventure!

My family and friends are traveling to India for a family wedding and were looking for clothing reasonably priced but beautiful. Sudha has an inventory for both men and women that was plentiful and enabled each of us to find exactly what we needed. Her attention to our needs, patience, and helpfulness were exemplary. Being able to rent our clothing was an added bonus.

    Must go for Indian Wedding!

Shital has a ton of outfits to choose from, and she was so helpful in explaining what I would need for my upcoming fushion Indian wedding. She spent about two hours helping me out! Her prices are MUCH better than Devon if you’re in Chicago!

    Great rental experience

Saris & Things is such a great concept. We were invited to our good friends Indian wedding, but not being apart of the culture and seeing how expensive traditional wedding wear could be if you want something that looks special/nice, this was a great option. We were able to meet Shital where she recommended great options for us. This was especially helpful since she has such a large inventory of beautiful items. We were in and out of there very quickly, and having her reassure us on what would be good to wear really helped. The wedding was wonderful, and many people commented on how nice we looked, and our friend’s family really appreciated us coming in traditional clothing to honor their culture. I’d definitely recommend Saris & Things for all your wedding rental needs!

Poor Experience, Customer Service and Quality.

    Summary:
The whole experience of getting the Sherwani once the order was placed was frustrating and stressful. Had I not continuously followed up; I am sure I would not have received my outfit and it added a lot of unnecessary pressure especially the week of my wedding. Once I did receive the Sherwani, the quality was defective with obvious stitching lines in places they should not have been as well as a very visible thumb sized stain as seen in the attached pictures. It is a shame that Saris & Things would charge $459.00 for a product that has clear issues and that they could not deliver as promised but perhaps that is a reflection of their business and customer service. Please review my detailed experience below.

    Background/Details:
On June 9th, I called Saris and Things in Illinois and talked to Sheetal. I explained to her that my wedding was on July 11th in North Carolina which is where I live. Based on our conversation, she said I should have my wedding outfit by the end of the month which would be perfect as I needed the outfit earlier for pictures, etc. Therefore, I placed an order for a Wedding Sherwani & matching Stole (scarf) for $459.00 with the understanding I would receive it by the end of June. I got an email with my receipt on June 9th. Around June 25th/26th I called Sheetal to get an update on my order. She advised that it still had not shipped from India which was very concerning to me. She said it was shipping the following week and that I will receive it latest by July 6th. I called back towards the end of the following week to get a status and found it out it still had not shipped. Sheetal advised me that it was now shipping Friday, July 3rd and that she was having the supplier in India ship it directly to me in North Carolina so that I would have it by July 7th. When I finally got the *DHL tracking number from her I noticed that it was not shipping to me but instead to their store in Illinois. Once again, I had to follow up with Sheetal about this after I checked the tracking number. She said she would check with the supplier and let me know. I did not hear back so the next day, July 4th, I called and was told that her supplier made a mistake and shipped it to their store. My next steps were now (1) Wait to see if it arrives at their store the following week of July 6th and as soon as it did, Sheetal said she’ll Overnight it to me. (2) First thing Monday morning, July 6th , as a backup plan her associate Sudha would email me Sherwani options that they had in store that they could overnight to me if need be. On Monday July 6th I heard nothing all morning so once again I had to follow up. I got in touch with Sudha who shared 4 Sherwani options with me – none of which were appealing to me, but I was running out of time. She told me that I would need to place a new order for whichever one I picked which seemed absurd to me. We decided to wait until Tuesday July 7th on the backup plan and I kept watch on the DHL shipment. The DHL shipment managed to arrive to their store on Tuesday, July 7th and I called Sudha. She said she would **Fed Ex it right out to me which per our earlier conversations should have been via an Overnight shipment so that I would have it on Wednesday July 8th and she said she would send me the tracking number that day. I never got the tracking number, so I had to call back to follow up the next day to get it. When I checked the status I saw they didn’t ship it Overnight. They used another option as you can see in the tracking below. It ultimately arrived at a Fed Ex sorting facility 30 minutes from my house on Friday morning July 10th (day before the wedding) and was showing “No scheduled Delivery.” I had to spend my entire morning tracking it down and then had to go pick it up in person. This was time that I was supposed to spend preparing for my wedding the next day. Also, due to this delay, we missed the opportunity for picture earlier that week. Once I received the outfit there was a very visible stain the size of a thumb that looked like it bled into the outfit. There were also 2 visible, long stitching lines that went across the chest of the outfit which should not have been there. I was disappointed that after spending so much money and going through this whole ordeal that the outfit was defective. I had to wear it given the wedding was the next morning. I reached out to Sheetal on Tuesday, July 14th and she said to email her pictures and that she would talk to the designer. I sent her the attached pictures on July 14th. Haven’t not heard anything on July 20th, I followed up and this was the response from Sari’s and Things:

“This is a hand-made sherwani, and it was made for you and shipped to you in a brand new condition. The stitching was done as deemed necessary by the designer. So unfortunately, we cannot refund you for this. We did our very best and went above and beyond, and got you your outfit in the midst of the pandemic and all the shipping issues. We also offered you a backup outfit in case the original one did not arrive. I hope you appreciate that fact.”

Based on my notes above, I was the one that had to continuously follow up and go above and beyond. Had I not stayed on top of it, I would not have received it in time. Also, it is a shame that the designer would ship out a poor-quality product. Additionally, if this has been produced in time there would not have been all the shipping issues.
