Beautiful photographer, beautiful person!

Three years post-wedding and the memories of our wedding are still as beautiful and special as the photos! Sarah was just so easy to work with, and she really captured the main moments and those special ones that you'll remember 3 years later (and beyond). We tried to keep it simple and it become a bit more complicated with timing and family shots, but Sarah flexed with us and made everything run smoothly. Extremely professional, kind, great eye - can't recommend her enough.

Sarah is amazing!

My husband and I chose Sarah to be our wedding photographer and could not have happier with her work. Starting nine months prior, when we met with Sara for a personal consultation, it was immediately clear that she was a true professional. She walked us through her services, proposed a timeline for the coming months and really set herself apart from other photographers we spoke with previously.

Engagement photos came first and she was able to put my normally camera shy husband at ease resulting in stunning pictures that captured our personalities against the surrounding city-scape. On the day of our wedding, Sarah had already scouted our different locations at the venue and seamlessly moved us from setting to setting keeping us on schedule but never stressed. The photos came out so amazing! Sarah has a real eye for composition. The photos never looked staged but at the same time captured our love for each other in such artistic way and unique ways! We loved working with Sarah and cannot recommend her enough! We look forward to building a customized wedding album with her very soon!

Amazing experience!

To say that we are thrilled with Sarah's work would be an understatement! From our initial meeting, I could see how easy Sarah would be to work with on such an important day. The engagement shoot was such a great way to get to know her and help us feel comfortable being photographed. We immediately saw that she had an eye for such unique shots, and knew that the wedding day would be no different! Countless friends and family members were telling us they've never seen a photographer working so hard at a wedding and yet blend in so well in the background. We cannot believe how many amazing shots she captured of EVERYONE at our wedding and how quickly she made them available to us. Picture Perfect Wedding: Look No Further!

I only have the best things to say about my experience with Sarah, from start to finish. Our wedding was the best day of our lives, and having the photos come out as perfectly as they did allows us to relive it again and again. I want to be sure anyone reading this review understands the talent and dedication Sarah brought to her work, and to do so, will walk through the experience.

INTERVIEW PHASE:
In the early stages of searching for a photographer, I did a lot of outreach. Sarah was timely with her responses, professional, and thought through each of my questions at all times. She has pre-planned packages, styles of shooting, and prices at the ready. I felt like I was talking to a true artist that has done this work for years, and they knew what they were doing! Most brides would agree it’s all a bit intimidating, always needing to know exactly what we want. Sarah was able to take the time to talk through my and my husbands wishes, big or small, and craft the package and style best for us. Most importantly, she was open to negotiating additions/subtractions to make our price point work. This was HUGE for us, as we had a tight budget to work with. I knew moments after leaving her office, that we would hire her.

PRE-PRODUCTION PHASE:
Throughout the year leading up to the wedding, I would email her one off questions, talk logistics, and general badgering (!) and she always made time for me. It made me felt like I had a partner, not someone I hired that would only care about me on my wedding day. I was able to wake up on my wedding morning totally at ease because she planned everything to a T. She was organized, aware, and thoughtful. She also had this AMAZING questionnaire ahead of the wedding that helped us think through some scenarios we didn’t consider. That kind of foresight made the day go smoothly.

PRODUCTION/DAY OF THE WEDDING:
From the moment Sarah and her assistant Ryan were with us, the camera never stopped….and it was not just random clicking. Lighting, arrangements, situations, all carefully crafted! She had our pre-determined list, and was always sure to check things off. On the day of the wedding, it goes by so fast, and you leave wondering “Did I get that picture! Did I remember to do this or that!!”- Fear not, Sarah did. She was also professionally firm with my family when they would not pay attention or coordinate for photos accordingly….trust me. YOU NEED THAT. Every one is wandering and talking or eating….but Sarah made sure she got the photos I wanted! Sarah also went to extreme lengths to get beautiful shots for us. For instance, she climbed through bushes and slipped on rocks just to get a shot of us on a stone bridge we really wanted. No request was too small, or too big. Not to mention, she sends you photos the VERY NEXT DAY. I woke up the day after my wedding to an inbox with tons of select moments from the evening. I know some people need to wait days for those! Not with Sarah. She knew the morning after is just as important as the wedding….having those pictures to look at brought tears to my eyes.

FINAL DELIVERY:
And so, the best and honest way to consider an artist for your wedding…is to look at the final product! Picture after picture were beyond perfect. Moments captured naturally. Sarah Tew is Amazing!!!

We found Sarah after a few friends had used her for their weddings, and their recommendation was spot on. She was amazing to work with! Sarah made everything easy - she was so helpful and responsive during the planning process, and was such a calming force on the day of the wedding. Intimate Wedding in A Bookstore Cafe

It was a joy working with Sarah. She has this talent of making her subjects comfortable in front of the lens. She has a photojournalistic approach, which is kind of like what I prefer. Our photos looked candid, genuine and not too stiff. Overall, I would definitely recommend Sarah to my friends.

The single most mportant person at my wedding (other than my husband)

I had the wedding of my dreams and Sarah had EVERYTHING to do with it. She was the single BEST decision I made for my wedding day. Since it was my first time even being in a wedding, planning everything on my own would not have been possible without a partner like her. She is COMPREHENSIVE in her homework and was the one who created the agenda (down to the half hour)for the day. Without her, I would not have been able to plan the timing of my other vendors (hair, makeup, videography). She served as a coordinator in a way by creating a timeline and then making sure we adhered to it , even when we were running late.

I did not worry about a thing the entire day, although I'm typically an anxious mess, because of her. That peace of mind is worth it's weight in gold.

As for the actual pictures, her work speaks for itself. She is a TRUE ARTIST. She finds the perfect light, your perfect angle, and she puts you at ease. I have never felt as beautiful as she makes me appear. If you are more involved in leading your photos, she will follow your lead but for everyone else, you can rely on her to create perfect portraits and know your venues better than you will.

Overall a joy and pleasure to work with as she gave me the most amazing art to remind me of my most beautiful day.

Photography has always been important to me. I take lots of pictures, all the time, and I love peeping at others'. I'm rather proud of my Instagram. I rely heavily on photographs to chronicle my experiences through life. So when my husband and I began planning our wedding, I knew immediately that finding the right photographer was my top priority. We first met Sarah at her studio/office in the Flatiron. Her glowing reviews and her body of work instilled confidence that she was the right choice to capture our story (her words, not mine), but she won us over with kindness and professionalism in person. Sarah betrays a genuine, palpable love of her craft, a nice quality in a wedding photographer. She also inspired confidence in us by following a process that's clearly been honed to precision over her considerable experience. She's got her timeline boiled down to a science so that she may focus on making the art. Day of, it felt like a friend was casually snapping photos while my bridesmaids and I were getting ready. My husband was equally at ease with her colleague Ryan, who captured some beautiful shots of my husband and his brother getting ready in the hotel. The morning after our wedding, Sarah posted a series of photos to her Facebook page. We LOVED waking up the next morning to scroll through about 30 BEAUTIFUL photographs that Sarah and Ryan had taken the night before. It was the perfect little preview. Not long after, Sarah wrote a lovely blog post about her experience photographing our wedding. When we received the (thousand+) photographs, we felt as if we were reliving every moment (even moments we weren’t a part of!). Our wedding photographs are simply stunning and are so moving and hilarious. I don’t know how Sarah does it, but she DOES IT. And please do yourself a favor and hire her for your wedding. It will be one of the best decisions of your life because, in a way, she is giving the gift of memory.

It is an understatement to say that Sarah's work is phenomenal. Sarah Tew is an AMAZING photographer and we could not have been happier with everything she did for our engagement photos and our wedding day!! Sarah was an absolutely amazing photographer. From the first day I met her in the city I felt an immediate connection and so comfortable with her. She did our engagement photos which all were unbelievable and we used for the save the date. Sarah captured so many beautiful moments in just a few hours and gave us endless options to choose from. As far as the wedding was concerned, sarah managed to get photos of everyone and every moment. The wedding packages that she has are also amazing and include so many wonderful extras! I can’t say enough great things about working with Sarah. After seeing her work and then meeting with her in person we were very confident about our choice to work with Sarah, and then she exceeded our expectations even further. She is extremely talented in her photography, we received just short of 2,000 photos and we loved every one of them.
Sarah captured every detail of our wedding, and incredibly special moments of us and our family and friends throughout the wedding. We felt like she really got to know us as a couple and I can’t wait for the next big life event where we can call Sarah and have her capture it. The turnaround time that it took to get our photos back was incredible! The day after the wedding Sarah sent us photos already to look at and shortly after coming back from our honeymoon we had all of them! Sarah is by far the absolute BEST!!!! She was our wedding photographer for our October wedding at the Roundhouse in Beacon, NY and she was amazing. When we were at our wedding venue we were looking through pictures that they had from other weddings and all of her pictures kept standing out to me. I told my husband that we definitely needed to get her as our photographer if possible since I knew I would just fall in love with her pictures of our wedding like I was with all the other pictures I saw her take of everyone else's weddings. This was even before I knew/found out that she had been my sister-in-laws photographer too! Small world! My sister-in-law and her husband had a wonderful experience with Sarah so that gave me even more confidence in our choice to book her and I am beyond happy that we did!!! The quality of her work exceeded our expectations! She is incredibly professional. She responds to emails, calls, texts, etc. within the day (usually within minutes/hour). Sarah is incredibly prepared. She makes sure she has everything covered the day of the event. She asks for all of your input way in advance to ensure the day runs smoothly for you and there is no stress since you know your memories/pictures are in fantastic hands!!! You can tell she takes lots of time putting together your wedding package filled with prints, USB of pictures, books with photobooth and wedding pictures, etc. It is all beautifully put together along with a great website where you can view pictures ahead of time and also get prints made of pictures you want as well. It is all above and beyond what other photographers do based on feedback from married friends of mine. Our families and guests also commented how professional she was and how apparent it was how experienced of a photographer she was. She got a huge family group shot (over 50 people) assembled and done in minutes. She made it looked effortlessly and the pictures are some of our favorites! We recommend Sarah to everyone!!!!!

We heard good things about Sarah through mutual friends who had previously used her. From the moment we reached out to schedule an introductory meeting, we knew she was going to be our photographer. Sarah is incredibly responsive, answering all our questions, from the big ones to the annoying.

Sarah was extremely well prepared, helping us ensure the day was well planned and in terms of photos, we knew what was going to happen when. She drew up a preliminary schedule well in advance, allowing us time to make the necessary changes. No stress at all in the planning, which led to no stress on the day of.

While Sarah's professionalism shone through with all the preparation that goes into planning a wedding, her photos came out amazingly! We did an engagement shoot with her several months before the date which really helped build up our rapport as well as gain confidence in front of the camera. She has a great eye for small details, such as turning a little this way, or angling an arm differently. At the same time, she is not pushy and very easy to work with.

While we have been a bit slow in selecting our wedding album, this is not because of Sarah's work. She had all the photos ready in around a week and sent a lovely care package to our new apartment with a full proof book, some selected shots, and a very cool 3D photo viewer.

Overall, Sarah was an excellent and amazing choice for our photographer and no one will be disappointed if they hire her.

What can you say about someone that captures still imagery, but fills them so full of movement and color and vibrancy and feeling that they seem to come alive? About a photographer so professional and courteous she responds to your emails -- including initial inquiries -- immediately? That indulges along with you in quirky little details and revels in capturing them? That turns around amazing photos of your special day in lightning speed and with a few surprises for you along the way?

You say that she is the Best Wedding Photographer EVER.

Sarah is an amazing photographer and an equally amazing person. She was referred by a friend and we chose her for her bright, colorful documentary-style photography, especially her amazing ability to capture the reception. Don't underestimate how hard this is to find; a lot of photographers we researched were great during the day but showed diminished quality after the sun went down. For our summer outdoor wedding with a barn with a discoball, getting the night shots was key. And she more than delivered at every point along the day, from the getting ready shots all the way to a sparkler send off; she even managed to capture a very special, intimate moment when my new husband carried me off piggyback into the sunset that we will cherish forever.

Her photography floored us as it brought to life the emotions of the day in a very real way. She was equally talented at capturing some of the more traditional photos of family; her versatility is unmatched.

While the photography speaks for itself, Sarah is just the kind of person you want with you along this journey: kind, thoughtful, patient, engaged, responsive (so much so!), flexible -- we even decided to have her stay an extra hour on the spot and she didn't flinch.

Having Sarah Tew as our photographer was one of the best decisions we made in planning our wedding! She has so many strengths as a photographer (and as a person, too). First, she is such a talent. We were so impressed by her work, which we first saw when visiting our venue, and we will treasure the shots she took at our engagement session and wedding for years to come. Second, she is super professional. She always responded to emails promptly, and was kind and courteous. At our wedding, she was able to capture so many special moments without ever being intrusive. Third, she has a warm, kind demeanor that put everyone at ease, and was even great working with kids who did not initially want to pose for portraits. Fourth, she was so FAST in editing our photos after the wedding, and sent everything along promptly (and with some special surprises). Choosing Sarah as our photographer among the top of all of the decisions that we made when planning our wedding. We chose her because we loved her work that we'd seen and because of her relaxed and friendly personality. She's incredibly professional, so organized, and extremely responsive over email. Sarah is unbelievably talented. I have had nothing but wonderful compliments on our wedding pictures. From our first conversation on the phone to the last email I have enjoyed every interaction. Getting pictures taken with her was exciting and if it weren't for time schedules I would have loved to take more.
First, Sarah is great at answering her emails. She usually responds from within a few hours to a day at the latest. She is extremely nice and energetic over emails.
She's funny, and is still very professional. Her creativity really shines when she is in her own element.
At our wedding, Sarah and her team were on time. Also, Sarah and her assistant worked really well with our videographer. We interviewed many photographers and videographers and they refused to work with one another at the same time because each would have different ideas of how to take shots. Sarah is very professional and is also really fun to be around. Everyone at our wedding was complementing on how great of a person she was and she was very patient with everyone when taking group shots when the kids would not stay still. Like other reviews, we can't stop watching the highlight reels/photos. They are simply wonderful! We haven't seen all our photos yet, but we are very excited for when we can!
Everyone looks fantastic in our pictures and he captured so many unexpected moments. You would feel lucky to have her take pictures for you!

Sarah is such an amazing photographer. Her pictures speak for themselves and manage to perfectly capture both small details and major events. I found her work online and knew I wanted her to do the same for our wedding. From the moment I spoke to her on the phone, I knew she would not only be personable and easy to work with, but truly care about our us and our wishes. We met to do an engagement shoot and she managed to make us feel extremely comfortable in only a matter of minutes, even while shooting outside in the freezing cold. It should have been no surprise that the pictures turned out to be amazing, but that made me even more excited for our wedding day. On the actual day, Sarah managed to take the most gorgeous photos while keeping us on time, handling our families and friends and multiple requests. I am so thankful to have had her there and to have such beautiful keepsakes from our wedding.

My wife and I had our wedding photos as our highest priority and we were absolutely thrilled with Sarah as our photographer. She was 110% professional while being genuinely interested in our desires and expectations. It is now a year later and we still hear from our guests about how enamoured they were with her during the event and continue to get compliments on her results. To say that our photos from Sarah came out phenomenally is an understatement. Yes, we did some of the obligatory wedding shots that you see everyone share but Sarah was able to seize the correct moments and capture some truly stunning shots that are one-of-a-kind. Sarah is not only a talented photographer, but she is also a true professional. In the months leading up to our wedding she was extremely responsive and answered any and all of our questions. On our wedding day she was organized, and kept us on a schedule, without being pushy, and the pictures came out great - we were able to get all of the family shots we wanted. When my grandmother wasn't available to take pictures before the ceremony, Sarah remembered later on in the evening to get some shots of us together. During the reception Sarah and her assistant Ryan managed to take amazing shots without getting in the way of the party. Wedding photographers do not get often receive the credit they are due and Sarah really deserves it. Her packages are a great value too and we really feel like we got really got our money's worth- if not more!

There are a ton of reviews telling you what an amazing photographer Sarah is, and you can see some the visual proof online. The one thing you wouldn’t know unless someone told you is that Sarah is also thoughtful and intuitive and that these are characteristics you definitely want in your wedding photographer. I didn’t realize how important that was until I saw the photos she took of our wedding where I knew the involved parties. She really put the emphasis in the right place. If you hire Sarah, all the best candid shots will be of your favorite people, and the moments she captures will be the moments you wanted captured, the moments you missed because you were too busy elsewhere. We really don’t know how she did it. Her photos make it look like she was everywhere at once, but she was so unobtrusive that we hardly remember her being there at all. She also took amazing portraits of every couple there, which meant that we had a really special gift to give everyone along with the thank you cards.

Another other benefit of hiring someone thoughtful is that your couple portraits will make the best possible use of your location in ways you hadn’t considered and will also perfectly reflect the tone you were shooting for. For example, our wedding had a bit of a vintage flair, and so Sarah took a great Mad Men-like shot of us coming out of a revolving door and another one of me with a very cool and vintage-y backdrop, a little nook of the hotel where we were that I hadn’t noticed or thought about when I was thinking of photo locations myself. It also just so happened that you could see the Empire State Building in the background on this certain street we had to cross in order to get to the ceremony location, so she got a great shot of us crossing the street with it in the background.

All of which is to say that we are VERY happy we hired Sarah. It was a bit of a stretch for us cost-wise, but we ended up being very happy we didn’t go with someone else.

It's not difficult to say how amazing Sarah has been. From the initial consultation, she not only amazed us with the beauty and quality of her work, but also put us at ease in a time of chaos. Of any single component of our wedding planning, we had no worries about the photography after meeting Sarah. Sarah is such a talented photographer and such a pleasure to work with. After an engagement photo shoot in Central Park, my husband and I were extremely comfortable with her and knew we loved her work. The day of our wedding, Sarah arrived and was so easygoing, yet she seemed to be everywhere, getting pictures of every little special moment. I would recommend Sarah to anyone. She was worth every penny for my June 2015 wedding. From the moment I met her, my husband and I were impressed by her composure, professionalism and unique style. When we signed the initial contract, we felt confident that she would not only produce fabulous photos but also maintain an unobtrusive presence during such a hectic day.

We were absolutely correct with our initial assessment of Sarah. She was incredibly responsive during the planning process. I never had a single doubt about her abilities. During our engagement photos, she got us comfortable with posing for pictures and turned around the files with record speed, happily obliging to any requests we had to enhance or print the photos.

During the wedding, she was in control while managing a very large wedding party and family. She made sure that she got pictures of everything we wanted, which is a huge advantage on such a busy day.

Sarah quickly turned around a preview of pictures that night and then sent us more and more while we were on our honeymoon. Shortly after we returned, we had the full disc of files and a few extra goodies waiting for us.

If I could give Sarah 6 stars, I would. When I have the next occasion for photos, I would hire her again without question.

Sarah was absolutely amazing. She was easily accessible at all times and completely exceeded our expectations. The photos that she took of us were absolutely breathtaking. Honestly...we would have changed our wedding date if Sarah had not been available...that's how strongly we felt she had the right eye, vision and passion for our wedding and telling our story. Sarah was a fantastic photographer for our wedding--the photographs were beautiful, she did a flawless job organizing and scheduling everything (we didn't miss a minute of our cocktail hour!), and her prices are superb given the level of service and attention she provides. Unlike a lot of photographers we considered, Sarah doesn't nickel and dime you to death, either for day-of services or after the fact (for prints, digital copies, and the like). Sarah Tew is an absolutely amazing photographer, and I highly recommend her work! I found her after spending hours browsing listings from NY Times Wedding Magazine, bookmarking, and sorting photos that caught my eye. After selecting a few photographers to contact, Sarah responded almost instantaneously, and we arranged a time to meet. From the moment we met in her Queens studio, she made me and my husband feel extremely comfortable, made us laugh, and appeared genuinely interested in our story and therefore in her work. Unlike other wedding photographers we met with, she loves photographing weddings, and her love shines through in each outstanding photograph captured. She was able to tailor her wedding packages to fit our particular needs, forgoing some of the add-ons in exchange for an engagement photo shoot in Boston (and the photos came out magical). We worked directly with Sarah the entire time. She was a pleasure to work with, extremely professional and flexible. She did things I didn't even think a photographer would do such as help to create a wedding day timeline and provide valuable suggestions for what to wear during engagement photos. She posted a sneak peak Facebook album the day after the wedding, which was something I didn’t even realize was important but it was. Our photos were edited after the wedding in lightning speed (and to perfection), and she even sent us little surprise photo gifts. Obviously, you get the idea, Sarah is amazing and I wouldn’t look any further. I never even write reviews but for Sarah I had to. She documented our fairytale wedding and we could not be happier with the results. Any time I need photos in the future, Sarah will be taking the pictures (as long as she isn’t already booked)!

I am not big on reviews or testimonials but since I have the utmost respect for Sarah and her staff, I have decided to write. We were looking at several other photographers for our wedding - all who came highly recommended - but it was a chance meeting at a party that led us to Sarah Tew Photography. Someone there had used Sarah at her wedding and she showed me a beautiful, artistic photo (I'll say edgy too because it shot in the rain). I was sold. Sarah has a great creative vision. If you want to immortalize your wedding day forever with great pictures, Sarah Tew is your girl. Our relationship began when we did our engagement photos about a year prior to the wedding day. We got to know Sarah and quickly learned she was laid back and fun as she made us feel very comfortable during a photo session that we both felt a little awkward about. We had a blast and it got us genuinely excited to snap shots the day of the wedding.

Leading up to the wedding, Sarah provides you the opportunity to tell you exactly which pictures are "must haves." So you can list out different combinations of family members and friends that you feel you absolutely need to have. Its great heading into the day knowing that she and her staff know exactly what you want to come away with.

On the day of the wedding, Sarah and her crew are so unobtrusive. To this day I still look at some pictures from the dance floor and think "I didnt even realize there was a photographer there." Somehow, they captured every single big moment at the church and every action moment at the reception without ever intruding.

Just days after the wedding, Sarah released some "sneak peek" photos on facebook, and within about a week she had a blog post up. She summarized our wedding day, provided about 20-25 of the best pics, and a video slide show. While on the honeymoon we'd check in on facebook and her sight and see all of our family and friends commenting, liking, sharing, and reliving the whole day. I'd imagine ordinarily there's a bit of a let down when the wedding day is finally over, but thanks to Sarah's beautiful and timely work, we were still enjoying that wedding high weeks after it ended.

The best testament I can give to Sarah's photography is that you can truly convey how awesome your wedding was through her pictures. You can truly feel how much fun the day was and how beautiful everything came out just by looking at her album.

Sarah is the most pleasant person to work with. She is so professional, fast and her work is so amazing. She arrived a little earlier than planned and I didn't even notice she went right to work . I barely even noticed she was there and once I saw all her photos I was surprised at some of the shots she had caught. Very personal and candid but so pretty i love all my wedding photos and so does my family. When my fiance and I got engaged and began looking for a photographer for our wedding, we assumed all "good" photographers would deliver a similar product, but when we saw Sarah's previous work we realized we were wrong - her work and demeanor stood out to us above the rest. From our engagement shoots to the wedding and post-wedding processing, we have been impressed and delighted with the quality of Sarah's work, her professionalism and her friendliness. Sarah and her assistant managed to capture all of the special big and little moments of our wedding, while blending in seamlessly with the crowd. It was like they were in 10 places at once! After the wedding I was so excited to see the photos but assumed it would take a while... so when I woke up the morning after the wedding to a sneak peak of 10 awesome shots that she'd sent over at 5:30am, I was really impressed. Sarah was AWESOME!!! Our wedding was 6 days ago and throughout the week she posted up "sneak peeks" of our wedding photos. Selecting Sarah for photography was one of the best wedding decisions we made! Not only is she talented, but she has this amazing energy that I found very comforting during the wedding.

She went way beyond her photography duties by helping us plan a detailed schedule for the wedding day. She gave us a lot of great feedback on this "day of" schedule and helped us prevent timeline problems that could have popped up. Thinking about this and planning it out ahead of time made me feel really confident about how things would go on the wedding day. We felt like we were in really good hands because Sarah offered a lot of extra advice when we ran into questions. This was particularly helpful when we were in the middle of a hundred wedding decisions- it was great to have Sarah's expert advice to guide the way.

Most importantly, we love Sarah's photos and we have received many compliments from family and friends. Sarah even posted sneak peak photos of our wedding night on the night of our wedding. We were so impressed that she got them up so quickly!

Sarah is absolutely awesome. We are 1000% percent pleased with how all of our wedding and engagement photos turned out - though from the moment we met Sarah, we knew this would be the case. She is incredibly talented. Her photos have such a natural, bright feel to them, which is what drew us to her in the first place... but, we never thought anyone could make us look as good as she has!!! My jaw truly dropped when I first saw the photos, as they are breathtaking.

On top of being so talented, Sarah is truly the most responsive vendor I worked with through the whole process of planning my wedding. I knew I would like her when my first e-mail to her on a Friday night at midnight was answered within an hour, with tons of useful information - and every moment of working with her since then has been just the same! She made us completely comfortable with the whole process, and was so sweet and thoughtful the entire time.

I came across Sarah's work because she had photographed another couple's wedding at our venue while we were on the hunt for vendors. I looked over all the reviews I could find online, and as a cynical New Yorker, I was a bit worried that some were faked because across the board, they were all so positive.

Well, our experience with Sarah has been nothing short of five stars. From our initial meeting, to my endless barrage of emails that she always responded to so quickly, to our engagement photo shoot, to the big day, she was exceptionally professional, understanding, and fantastic to work with.

I really wasn't interested in an engagement shoot, but since it's part of her package, I figured why not. I have to say that I'm glad that this is not a negotiable part of her service, because it was great to work with her in advance of our wedding day. The engagement shoot was casual and fun and allowed us all to get to know one another in a low-key, low-pressure atmosphere. She has a great eye for what would make an interesting image and gives really clear direction to those of us not used to being in front of the camera.

After seeing the beautiful photos from our engagement shoot, we were so excited to see what Sarah would do with our wedding. True to form (and all of the other five star reviews), she was on time, unobtrusive and endlessly professional. The photos that she captured are so beautiful and will be a gorgeous reminder of an incredibly special day. All of our friends and family have been absolutely blown away by the photos Sarah took. Also, her turnaround time is incredible - we had a sneak peek of our photos by the morning after our wedding. While we sat at brunch with our family and friends, everyone was marveling at Sarah's beautiful work.

Sarah Tew is an amazing photographer and wonderful person to work with for your wedding.

We cannot say enough about Sarah. From our initial meeting to reviewing the wedding photos she took, we were so pleased to have used her services. We are a very private couple so felt that taking engagement photos would be cheesy and awkward. Sarah put us to ease and made us feel comfortable. She structured our engagement shoot around our preferences and didn't make us get into any cheesy poses -- she just captured us being ourselves.

We found that she was really responsive as the year went on toward our wedding and made sure she stayed on top of us to get her feedback for what shots we wanted etc. She was really on the ball. And the day of, she was such a blast to work with. She took absolutely AMAZING photos. And her photobooth was such a hit with our guests.

We highly recommend Sarah Tew. She is such an artist and such fun to work with. Also, she was very helpful in working with our budget. We're also a same-sex couple and felt absolutely comfortable with Sarah.

Sarah is the most amazing photographer. She came highly recommended to me by my friend who wanted to use her for her own wedding, but sadly Sarah was already booked for the date. Lucky for me, I was able to lock her in for our wedding! The results --- the most amazing set of wedding photos I have ever seen. Sarah captured our special day in a way only a true artist could. We have hundreds of perfect photos, all of which were turned around to us within a week or so of our wedding! Who does that?!?! The bottom line is Sarah is simply the best. You will not regret signing her up for your own big day.

I highly recommend Sarah Tew Photography. Sarah is an awesome person and an immensely talented artist who runs a great business.

I've never been a fan of engagement portraits - the ones I've seen have tended to have a saccharine, stiff feel that I've found off-putting. Sarah Tew's engagement portraits are completely unlike the others I've seen. Sarah made the afternoon fun and relaxed. She took photos that captured our personalities - both individually and as a couple. Every photo was fantastic.

In the months leading up to our wedding, Sarah was in frequent contact with us. It was clearly important to her that she understand the atmosphere we were going for, and what aspects of the celebration were most important to us. On the day of the wedding, Sarah was a pleasure to work with. She took full advantage of the gorgeous surroundings, and took a series of beautiful, unique portraits. Her photos of the ceremony and reception truly captured the joy of the day, and all of the moments I want to remember. Sarah also designs her clients' wedding albums, and is completely open to any adjustments. You won't need to make many, though...she has a great eye for design, and for the photos that work best together.

Sarah Tew is great! We are so happy with how our photos came out. As soon as I saw our engagement shots I knew we had picked the right photographer and it was one thing I wouldn't have to worry about the day of the wedding. My husband and I are very picky as far as aesthetics go (an architect and an artist, respectively) and Sarah just has the eye, talent and experience to take gorgeous, interesting photos. It doesn't hurt that she's a really sweet person too.

Sarah Tew is not just a talented photographer... she is an artist. Sarah shot my daughter's wedding July, 2013. Sarah captured EVERYTHING. Not just the beautiful venue, dresses, etc... She captured the emotion of the event. She did the same with my daughter's engagement photos. Sarah doesn't force anything out of her wedding parties... she sees who they are through her lens and she captures that. No phony, generic wedding poses... Her camera celebrates the event with you. Sarah is an amazing photographer. First and foremost, in terms of how the photos came out from our wedding (and engagement shoot), we couldn’t be happier. They were absolutely gorgeous. All of our family and friends commented on how amazing they were, saying things like “they look like they belong in a magazine!” Every time we look at the photos, we see something new – she truly captured the emotion, joy, excitement – in a way that I don’t think many other photographers would have.
Beyond the final product of gorgeous photos, however, was Sarah’s customer service. She responds promptly to emails and was full of helpful advice all throughout the wedding planning process. She had lots of great ideas throughout the entire process, from the “unplugged wedding” to suggesting that we incorporate our kittens into our engagement shoot. And on the wedding day itself, she was scheduled to begin shooting us at 2pm in our hotel – not only did she arrive a few minutes early, but she had first gone (on her own time) to our wedding venue to scout the perfect locations for our pre-wedding photos. Throughout the night, she and her second shooter were everywhere – never getting in anyone’s way, yet never hesitating to climb up on a ladder or lay down on the ground for the perfect shot. All of which showed in the final results! Finally, we must mention her turn-around time! Our reception concluded about an hour and a half outside of NYC at 11pm, and by 4am that morning, she had a handful of the best photos up on Facebook! The full set was made available to us online within the week and the proof books and discs were mailed shortly thereafter (arriving before we had even gotten back from our honeymoon).
In short, if you want amazing wedding photos with great customer service to match, you can’t go wrong by hiring Sarah. We can’t recommend her highly enough!

Words cannot describe how happy we were to see our wedding photos less than 48 hours after we got married. For 2 very camera-shy people, Sarah and her assistant Nick put us so at ease that we had no issues making out in the middle of Manhattan for our wedding portraits! Having met Sarah only 2 days before the wedding because I was planning this wedding long distance, I was completely reassured by her organization, her prompt responsiveness and super positive attitude! She was even accomodating towards my concerns for privacy and on the day of the wedding, kept time more punctually than even I did (esp after the nerves took over). Getting Sarah as our photographer was the second best thing we did that day, apart from marrying each other. Hire her. Just do it.

I honestly never write online reviews - but just back from our honeymoon and we've received so many compliments from friends and family about our amazing photos, I wanted to share our great experience with sarah. I remember just a year ago - I was poring thru online reviews of photographers and hope this will help some brides out there. we were so happy with sarah (and her 2nd shooter - also sarah!) she caught the true feel of our wedding as well as so many natural moments. I typically don't love photos of myself and was really thrilled with how flattering the photos were. our expectations were truly exceeded.. (and they were pretty high to begin with)

Also - we woke up the day after the wedding to a "sneak peak" of photos which was so exciting to email to friends just hours after the wedding - I still can't believe sarah posted that before she went to sleep after the wedding.

I loved my experience working with Sarah. She was amazing. I am not a typical bride...i hate pictures, didnt want to have the whole "getting ready" photoshoot...didn't want engagement pics...and she worked so easily with me! We did pre-ceremony pics in Washington Square Park and then onto the wedding in SoHo...she captured so many amazing moments without you even knowing she was there! All the photography came out beautifully. I ordered 3 albums from her as well, and my parents get endless compliments on how exceptional the photos are. Sarah was so accommodating at every turn, whether it was meeting me late in the evening, a schedule change, staying late at the reception, or changing my albums after they were printed! We had Sarah Tew shoot our wedding in Greenwich, CT at the end of September, and my husband and I couldn't be more thrilled with how the pictures came out! Sarah is so incredibly talented and captured each important moment (and so many others!) so perfectly, we were truly blown away when we saw the photos! Sarah and her crew arrived early, were totally inobtrusive but also so professional, organized, accommodating and really creative! Sarah was in touch several times before the big day to make sure she had all of the logistics and photo lists correct, which made the actual pictures a breeze because she had everyone organized and ready to go. We got wonderful photos of every group we had asked for, both in traditional poses as well as some more creative and fun set-ups...Like many brides, I'd put a lot of time into some small DIY projects and details, and Sarah took the time to get shots of every single element of the wedding decor in all its glory -- her photos of the tablescapes and the other details literally look like they came from a magazine, I almost can't believe they are from my wedding!!! Last (but NOT least!), I was especially impressed at Sarah's unique ability to take photos of my husband and I that were romantic, sweet, fun and creative without being corny or cheesy, which was so important to me. I can't explain how she did it, but the pictures of the two of us are breathtaking and romantic but also genuine and authentic to who we are...This was one of the main reasons we chose Sarah, and she really nailed it beyond our wildest expectations. OH and I have to add that Sarah was a pleasure to work with, and even helped me with an old photo project I did for the wedding! Where do I begin? From soup to nuts Sarah was the consummate professional. From the moment we met all the way to the box we just received upon our return from our honeymoon -- Sarah dots all "i"'s and crosses all "t"'s. If you pick Sarah, not only will you end up with the MOST amazing pictures (trust me, you'll look better than you thought you looked!), but you will have peace of mind that she will get the job done without drama and with great results!

The top portion of my list of 'good decisions I made in life' would include (a) moving to Amsterdam for college, (b) asking my wife out on a date two and a half years ago and (c) hiring Sarah as our photographer for our wedding.

Let's start with the pre-wedding activities. Sarah is a consummate professional and on top of things. She asks in great details the 'itinerary' for the day (i.e. all of the family & wedding party portraits we wish to take) to ensure that we will be on time for the ceremony; scheduled a meeting with us to understand what type of shots we are looking for, and whether there are certain details that we love that she should not miss. She is very responsive and flexible. We wanted to swap our 'engagement' session with the open air photo booth, that request was accepted without any hassle. All of the e-mails and phone calls were returned within 24 hours.

On the day she did everything she promised and had a good command of the situation. She used time very smartly (my portraits were taken during idle time after I was done signing the marriage certificate), responded well to requests from family members while keeping us moving along within the designated time.

Most importantly, we loved the pictures she took. They really capture the emotions, the feelings and the energy of the day. I recommend potential clients to browse through her website and let her work speaks for her. As importantly, she is a very positive person who is very easy to work with. I cannot stress how important this in terms of making the day enjoyable. Who wants to be bossed around on your wedding day, right? Sarah was kind, funny, friendly, and great to have around.
Finally, she's quick to process the pics. Around midnight after the wedding she already posted a few pictures as 'sneak peek' (my facebook addicted friends appreciated that!); followed by more pictures on her blog about a week later.
Hiring her was one of the best investments I ever made.

If you are getting married in New York- HIRE SARAH TEW AS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER. She is the sweetest, most professional photographer you could ask for. AND her photos are beautiful. She made us comfortable behind the camera, even though we don't generally love the spotlight. I would also take Sarah's rec to do an engagement shoot before the wedding, to give you time to get to know and work with Sarah before the big day. We gave her the unique task, of photographing our surprise wedding in New York City. We were unable to meet in person before hand (we were just visiting) so we had only connected a few times prior through email. We really put all our trust in Sarah to capture the important moments. And she totally delivered! During our intimate ceremony she completely blended in and made everyone feel relaxed. With just our parents in attendance having Sarah's photos are the only way for our extended family and friends to experience our wedding. She captured everything we wanted. Sarah Tew is awesome, and if you haven't picked your photographer yet you should choose her. She has a great personality for this kind of work - friendly and approachable, and also professional and unobtrusive. She offers an "a la carte" menu of her services so you can pick and choose what you want. We chose her basic wedding package and were 100% satisfied. The engagement shoot was great for getting to know her -- very important for a couple of people who aren't used to getting photographed all that much -- and she created a lovely guest album using photos from the shoot. We had Sarah and her assistant for 8 hours on our wedding day. We were so happy with how all the pictures turned out and she caught everything that was important to us. The deliverables were perfect -- archival DVD of hi-res photos, Facebook albums, slideshows set to music, book of favorite shots + all the proofs, and a credit towards an album, and a lot of other features & details, everything packaged beautifully. We added the photobooth option to our package, which was well worth it when you consider the amount of fun our guests had with it, and the fun we had in seeing the results. I did not have a full appreciation for how much work and how much attention to detail is required to do everything Sarah does, and having been through it now and seen and shared the results, she was worth every penny.

Sarah's photos were amazing. Everyone raved about them. She was completely unobtrusive throughout the evening. And she was very flexible with us, going out of her way to make sure we were able to shoot some pre-ceremony shots in daylight even though we had our commitment ceremony the day after daylight savings started, which meant she had to start an hour earlier. Super, super, super. I would recommend her to anyone for either a commitment ceremony or a wedding.

Sarah is an amazing photographer. My dad, who is very hard to please, calls her the best photographer ever. She was amazing from the time we signed contracts through our wedding day and now in our album making process. Sarah takes beautiful photographs. She captured the moments of our wedding so beautifully. We received all of our proofs, 8x10 photos, printed photos and the disc days after we returned from our honeymoon. Not to mention all the wedding photos were already in the online album while we were still away on our honeymoon. Words can't even express the quality of her work. Take a look at her photos online you will be very impressed. I would recommend Sarah to anyone needing an amazing, talented, professional photographer.

We do not have enough words to express how much we enjoyed working with Sarah for our engagement shoot and wedding. I guess that's why they say a picture is worth a thousand words ...
Sarah was totally flexible with us in creating our own package of photography and prints and I can't imagine working with anyone else. The results of her work are stunning and if you need a wedding photographer in NYC, you should work with Sarah! We are constantly getting calls and e-mails from our friends and family about how much they love Sarah's work and how they were moved to tears from the images and moments that she captured on film.
We found Sarah through our reception venue because it was a rather unique space and we wanted someone who was familiar with the space to shoot our wedding. What a great idea that was!
Sarah really went above and beyond all of our expectations. Especially when she saw that our friends were posting photos on Facebook right after the wedding, Sarah stayed up and had some of her own photos up and available for us to use on Facebook by the time we woke up the next morning.
It was the most magical night of our lives and even though it went by in an instant, we are so lucky that Sarah was there to capture it on film for us to relive again and again!

My husband and I, not to mention all of our guests, are still raving about Sarah Tew's photography. She impressed on us every front and we would recommend her without reservation.
We heard about Sarah through word of mouth and when we hired her, we weren't totally sure how she would compare to some of the other photographers work that we saw. We hired her because her pictures were great and she seemed normal and easy to work with (not an easy thing to find in wedding vendors!!)
All I can say is that her quality of work blew us away. Our engagement shoot was a hit with everyone and I'm sure it helped to have such a great picture to submit to the NY Times wedding announcements. It made us feel excited and confident about her being our wedding photographer.
At the wedding, Sarah and her assistant Dmitry were a total joy. They weren't intrusive but they did what they needed to do to get all the shots that we had discussed in advance. They were flexible, friendly and professional.
At the end of the day, it's really the actual pictures on the page that will make you remember your photographer fondly and WE CAN'T STOP mooning over our awesome pictures. How did she make me look so pretty? How did she get family members who don't get along to look so happy to be in a picture together? How do the groomsmen look so amazingly dapper? How did she catch our nephew up a tree during the reception? I don't know the answer to these questions but all I can say is that I am happy to be asking them now and it's all thanks to Sarah.

As a bride who had to plan a reception in a different city for family and old friends, I did not have the luxury of time to check out photographers personally. Like many, I blindly searched the internet.
Sarah Tew was one of many who popped up. She has a top quality website with some of great and artistic photographs. Some photographers don't provide enough content for you to evaluate. Still I made the leap of faith and reserved Sarah for such a significant day - sight unseen.
I found her immediately responsive and always available, even though I was in CA and she was in NY.
Day of reception - she was on time and immediately ready for work with little guidance. She kept taking photos with a smile the entire time. She was fantastic and very professional without ego.
Photographs - Soon afterwards, she sent the link. I reviewed the photos and must say - WOW - impressive. The photographs were wonderful. There are so many fantastic photos that the difficult part now is deciding which to keep and print. She exceeded my expectations.
I highly recommend Sarah Tew for your photographic needs.

Sarah was everything I hoped for in a wedding photographer. She completely understood my desire to capture as much as possible in a candid way and my hopes to avoid the permutations of posing that typically occur pre and post-ceremony.

Her style really jived with the wedding's details, a lot of which were homemade and handmade. She did a wonderful job photographing all of the pieces, and as a result, I have a very complete and beautiful catalogue of the day and all that went into it. I really love her photographic style, and I believe that while it's consistently elegant, she tailors it to each and every wedding she does.

Sarah is professional and responsive. After the wedding, she shared the photos within days. Her assistant was also lovely -- competent, helpful and personable. I couldn't have asked for more from the person that was so instrumental in shaping the memories of our day.

We used Sarah for our wedding in April 2010, and she was such a pleasure to work with. I wanted someone who could do both the posed portraits our family wanted along with un-posed artistic shots that captured the spirit of the day. Sarah was able to do all of that while being totally unobtrusive and incredibly nice to work with. Out of all of our vendors, she was one of the few that was so incredibly organized, responsive, and just plain nice.
On top of being a total pleasure to work with, our pictures looked incredible - my family couldn't stop raving about how she was "everywhere" and I loved that she didn't interrupt the celebration to get a shot. Looking back at the photos she captured moments I didn't even know where happening, and were such a treat for me to see afterward.
There are other photographers with similar pricing who will give you gorgeous pictures. What really sold us on Sarah was the value and service she provided. She was flexible on customizing our package, we had an online slideshow of our photos up within days, and a link to our entire photo gallery before we even returned from our honeymoon. The photos would have been worth the wait, but I'm glad we didn't have to!

Sarah was, in a word, fantastic. She was one of the first vendors we booked and I am so glad we did.

We ended up with a package that was perfect for us. We did an engagement session, had an ‘open-air’ photobooth at our engagement party, and the entire wedding day (six hours or so).

In all of our discussions, emails, photo shoots, etc, Sarah was super friendly and easy-going but very professional.

When photographing us, she directed us well but also took our ideas and suggestions easily. We got so many raves from our engagement session photos and are still get compliments on the wedding photos! They are gorgeous and I’m so thrilled with them.

She went above and beyond in so many ways. I cannot say enough good things about her and working with her—I highly recommend using Sarah!

Every time I look at one of the photo books that Sarah created I am so
glad we chose her to photograph my bachelorette party, our engagement
portraits, and our wedding. She thoughtfully and movingly tells the
stories of these events, treating each event as unique. Everyone who has seen our engagement or wedding book has either wanted her to take the photos at their
weddings or they have wanted copies of the books. As my memories of
the wedding become so closely tied to the photographs, I am grateful
that we have so many amazing pictures to look at and remember it by.
Even though there could not have been more rain at our wedding, Sarah
captured the intimacy and beauty of the ceremony and reception. She
adjusted well to the unplanned weather and took charge of the
situation - making sure that in the few moments of clear sky we got

Thank you Sarah Tew!

My wife and I were married in June 2010 and as predicted by everyone it flew by in a flash. Fortunately, we have the entire weekend and engagement events so professionally documented we have been reliving it almost daily for the past month. After first hiring Sarah, she took the time to really get to know our personalities and hear about what we were planning for our ideal wedding. About a month before the wedding we had our engagement shoot.
Sarah presented us with several new ideas potential places she was interested in shooting as well as her portfolio of other engagement sessions. Ultimately, we decided to have an urban and scenic backdrop so we all decided on Highline Park and the West Village. We spent a few hours at the end of a late spring day taking pictures and had a great time doing it. Sarah was really in the moment and was very excited. She directed everything so well and we were thrilled with the end product. After the shoot, she put together her favorite selection of photos that we all completely agreed on for our book. A short time later we received an amazing leather bound book that we used as our guest book at our wedding reception.
Leading up to the wedding, Sarah had the timing of our day covered and we certainly didn’t have any concerns about anything besides the weather! On the day of, Sarah spent the morning and early afternoon with my wife and the bridal party while they did their hair and makeup. It was amazing for me to see everything happened on the female side after the fact. On my side, Sarah’s assistant Jeff documented the time with my family and I while I got ready.
When it was time for us to have our first look at each other, it was so carefully orchestrated. The two of them coordinated and captured the moment beautifully. We were at a B&B in the Hudson River Valley and it was very scenic. At one point, Jeff was tucked all the way in the woods capturing photos of us from a distance. What was most amazing about their teamwork and execution was that aside from the intimate session my wife and I had before the group photos, we didn’t see them the entire evening. We would have been happy to interact with them, but I mention it only to emphasize that we weren’t cognizant that any photos were actually being taken during the day. However, we were amazed that there wasn’t one element of the day/night that was missed.
All in all, our photos were extremely professional and had a real artistic element to them that I haven’t seen in any other of my friends wedding photos. Sarah not only did an amazing job at the wedding and engagement shoot, but also was quick to load all of the photos online as well as put the ball in our court to select our favorites for the books. She also sent us a DVD (in a leather bound case) of every single picture snapped as well as bonus videos montages that we didn’t even know were being taken! The presentation of all of the materials was very impressive.
Throughout the entire process, we really got the feeling that this wasn’t just a job for her, but an opportunity to make a couple very happy while unleashing her creative/artistic abilities. Sarah and Jeff were so pleasant to work with. If you’re looking for a photographer for any special event, it’s a no brainer….hire Sarah Tew!

Sarah is the absolute BEST wedding photographer around. She is smart, flexible, and really easy to work with. She is extremely responsive and is so on top of everything. Words cannot express our wonderful experience working with Sarah. My wife and I are thrilled we choose Sarah to photograph our wedding. Everyone who has seen our engagement photos and/or the wedding photos cannot stop raving about how great Sarah captured our special day. She is a true artist which is why we choose her. We didn’t want a photographer who had their staged shots. We also didn’t want a “wedding factory photographer” who only saw us as a paycheck. We were amazed that when we received our photos within weeks of the wedding. We have heard horror stories from friends not having their wedding photos 6 months after their event. Not the case with Sarah.

Sarah is not one of those pushy photographer stuck in her ways. After a while we forgot she was there. She was a fly on the wall documenting our precious moments with family and friends. She captured details and intimate photos that we’ll cherish for our entire marriage. Sarah went above and beyond our expectations with extra little touches.

I would recommend any and everyone to use Sarah Tew for their weddings. You would be hard pressed to find a better, more affordable, professional, and personable photographer in the NYC area.

Working with Sarah was fabulous. I met her because of her non-wedding photography, which is amazing and which immediately made me want to know more about her. When we got to talking and she mentioned how much she loves shooting weddings, I knew she'd be a perfect match for me. My suspicion was confirmed by her gorgeous portfolios.

We ended up having the wedding in New Orleans instead of New York, but we did do an engagement shoot with her. It was great! I was really nervous going in, but she's so easy to work with that in no time I was having fun. The shoot gave us beautiful photos that we love, and with them Sarah crafted albums that thrilled our parents when we gave them as gifts at our rehearsal dinner. Honestly, I wish we'd gone ahead and flown her down to Nola for the wedding!

I recommend Sarah highly to any affianced couple in the NYC area, as well as anyone else looking for polished, professional, gorgeous photojournalistic work.

Sarah Tew is THE BEST photographer to hire for your wedding and or engagement photos. Not only is she super hands on, but her style and technique is top notch, and not your average cookie cutter photographer. If you want your photos to look and feel different and more special than all of the typical shots you see out there, then Sarah Tew is your girl. We fell in love with her work after she shot our engagement photos, and she blew us away with our wedding photos-such beautiful amazing shots to have for a lifetime to remember our special weekend. Most of our friends have gotten married recently and by far, our photos blew everyone out of the park! If you walk away from Sarah, then good luck to you, but, you will be thankful you chose Sarah when you do!
