We absolutely loved the Sanderling. While we booked almost 2 years in advance, we did have a few coordinator changes throughout the time, Kathy took care of us the 2 weeks leading up to and the day of the wedding, and was absolutely phenomenal!
We did a tasting of the food on a visit there a year prior to our wedding, and the food tasted just as we remembered on the day of the wedding. The service staff was wonderful and really took care of everyone. The drinks were great too!

Beautiful resort! Kyle managed our event perfectly and made sure everything was to our complete satisfaction. The food was excellent, the service was top notch. Highly recommend!

Sanderling is the perfect setting for a wedding day. That staff is incredible and I did not have to worry the day of about anything. Everything was handled for me. It was absolute perfection.

We had our late October wedding at the Sanderling resort. We wanted to be at a nature-forward beach with all of our needs on one site. We rented four vacation homes as well as a couple of suites. We held our rehearsal dinner at Kimball’s Kitchen, our ceremony on the Observation Deck, reception at the event house, and after-partied every night at the Caffey House. Every onsite service was wonderful, from the cleaning to the salon to the catering. Despite changes in management while we were planning and some inevitable changes in staff that followed, there was not a single hiccup in their coordination. Every aspect of our weeklong event was perfect, thanks largely to the Sanderling staff and the incredible vendors on their “preferred list” of third party vendors. It’s hard to stop raving about the perfect food, location, and company that Sanderling provides. It is obvious that the staff there is passionate about what they do. Everyone’s efforts and the results of that are beyond what we hoped for. We are excited to go back to enjoy the facilities again as well as to see the new friends we made there during the wedding process.

This resort encompasses all of the beauty of the outer banks. Kristen is a wonderful wedding planner, and makes every step along the way easy and fun!

We got married 2/15/20 at the Sanderling (their first Feb wedding ever). Neither my husband nor I had ever been to the Sanderling or to OBX for that matter. We wanted a destination wedding and fell in love with an off-season wedding with amazing sunsets overlooking the water and the wild horses.

I found the Sanderling online and was hooked. I called Kristen their wedding coordinator, grabbed our date (only 5 months prior), and start to finish it was more than either of us could have ever expected. Kristen and her team are amazing. She has everything you will need covered from on-site Sanderling options to working with the dream team of vendors. We had only 2 phone calls with her before the wedding weekend and she was able to take in all our wishes and execute.

The wedding was perfect- "pure magic" is what our friends and families have said. Our guests stayed onsite, we booked one of the vacation homes on property for some of the bridal party, the bridesmaids and I got ready at the spa, we had the ceremony in Keeper's Loft and reception at the Pavilion. Having everything and everyone in one space made it more fun and relaxing. The entire entire Sanderling staff and the OBX community made us feel incredibly welcomed and loved. Thank you! The Sanderling Resort made my dream wedding come true! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding day. Debbie Norris' attention to detail is amazing and she is wonderful. She definitely keeps everything on target, on schedule and has great suggestions that made my day even better than I could have imagined. I cannot recommend the Sanderling Resort enough. We fell in love with the property as soon as we pulled up, I think my husbands words were "now, this is what I'm talking about". We met with Debbie and instantly clicked with her and loved everything she was sharing about the property. It was clear that there were many options to meet all kinds of budgets and sizes and Debbie was going to be there every step of the way. Planning a wedding from afar can be really challenging so I LOVED the fact that Debbie was onsite and able to help coordinate vendors and that the Sanderling was a number of the largest vendors all in one: caterer, linens, tables/chairs & bar. Which meant that I didn't need to find *too* many more vendors to complete my day. Having a day of coordinator included in the package price was also a HUGE selling factor to me.

The Sanderling has a great preferred vendor list, they had a million linen colors to choose from, many of the 'extras' that you may want but again can all coordinate through them. We wanted a few special options at the bar, (beer & wine that were not on their list) & Debbie worked with the Bar Manager to ensure that we could have what we wanted on our day. She did a fantastic job walking me through the budget & helping me make decisions to stay within the budget, I never felt pressured to increase what we wanted to spend. Debbie was EXTREMELY responsive, again something you really want when you are planning your wedding from far away, she was always easy to get ahold of via email and willing to pop on the phone for a more in depth phone call.

I've seen so many brides STRESS about the day of schedule and the coordination of all of the vendors and I did not have one ounce of stress about this process. Debbie handled all of it, asked for my opinions but created our timeline based on her experiences and had everything ready to go. My bridal party was a little rowdy, to say the least, & Debbie handled them like a pro, keeping everyone on task & on schedule.

I received endless compliments about our food, the service, Debbie, the venue etc. and having our big day at the Sanderling was everything we could have dreamed of. 10 out of 10 experience and I will always recommend them & Debbie, to anyone looking to get married in the Outer Banks!

Having our wedding at the Sanderling was an absolute dream. If you're looking for a venue that is professional and fun and is a 'one-stop-shop' for all of your wedding needs, this is it.

We are from Baltimore, MD but knew we wanted to get married in the OBX, NC as it holds a lot of amazing memories for us and our families. When we were searching and comparing venues - the Sanderling Resort struck us as being very equipped for out of town planners like ourselves. It had all the amenities we would need for hosting our guests for the long weekend and the vibe of the resort is unmatched. It was very clear from start to finish that they knew what they were doing and that everything would be taken care of. And it absolutely was!

Our coordinators, Davis and Kristen, were very enthusiastic, timely and professional with all of their responses from the beginning stages of planning, all the way through the day of and beyond. It was a perfect fit for my husband and I whose only real request was that we be told where to stand and that everyone have fun! The day flowed so effortlessly - thanks to Kristen and the amazing staff - which is what I believe all couples are in search of!

On top of the amazing service, the beautiful venue and the amazing staff, the food was absolutely PHENOMENAL! Our guests are still raving about it.

One of my favorite things about planning our wedding at the Sanderling was the friends and family feel of it all. All of the preferred vendors know each other pretty well and work together all of the time, which makes the experience that much easier and more magical. We feel as if we were welcomed into this exclusive family and it's a one-of-a-kind experience we would not have gotten anywhere else!

I have always wanted a beach wedding and when my now-husband recommended the Outer Banks, I found the Sanderling Resort. We visited the resort and felt so welcomed by the wedding team. We went with the Event House elopement package, which included a beer canoe and s'mores by the firepit! Over the course of planning, our original Sanderling wedding planner left and Kristen Allen took over. Kristen was able to take over seamlessly and made sure that we had everything we wanted for the big day. We never had to worry because she made sure every detail was perfect! Even when we had to make some last minute changes to the reception due to the unusual amount of bugs outside, she kept us informed and relaxed for our special day. Surprisingly, the bugs stayed away that night and we could enjoy the outdoors and firepit! I couldn't imagine having our wedding anywhere else or with any other planner!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience with the Sanderling. Debbie was our wedding coordinator and made everything about our special day perfect. One of the best parts about using them as your venue is that it is a one-stop shop, so you never have to worry about running out of anything. Not to mention being able to get married on the beach and have a reception on the sound makes everything so beautiful and photogenic. Amazing food and wonderful staff made our special day perfect. My husband and I got married at the Sanderling Resort in the Outer Banks in May, and we could not be happier with our venue. From the moment that we met Debbie, she was nothing short of amazing. She was there every step of the wedding planning journey to help us with all of our questions, and was wonderful to work with. The Sanderling is a stunning venue, and their entire staff was phenomenal throughout our wedding day and our entire stay. Our wedding day was seamless; Debbie made sure that everyone was where they needed to be, when they needed to be there, so that I could focus on our day and enjoy every moment! The Sanderling will always hold a special place in our hearts; without Debbie and her team, our dream wedding would not have been possible! Our family and friends still talk about how beautiful our ceremony and reception was, and how incredible all of the food was during the cocktail hour and dinner. Needless to say, we would highly recommend the Sanderling for your wedding day, or special event!

My wife had always dreamed of having a perfect beach wedding and The Sanderling Resort was the best venue to make this a reality. We looked at numerous spots along the Outer Banks and nothing came close to the beauty of The Sanderling. As the only venue on the Outer Banks with both Sound and Ocean views this offered the perfect combination for every event involved in our wedding. From the rehearsal dinner in the new event center, wedding on the beach, reception at the pavilion, numerous meals at the Lifesaving Station, and dinner at Kimball’s Kitchen, The Sanderling offered enough variety to keep us experiencing something new each night. Our title says Chefs in Love because both my wife and I are chefs. We were really nervous about finding a location that would impress us with the food, as well as impress our wedding guests, whom we knew had high expectations. Our Coordinator Kristen Allen and the food and beverage team at the Sanderling went above and beyond to curb all our fears and make sure we had enough time to taste and adjust the menu as we desired, however, the food we selected needed no adjusting. They helped create our signature drinks and gave us a wedding our families still talk about! We were so happy to be married at the Sanderling and are already planning our one year anniversary there! This place is one of a kind.

We met in Nags Head back in 1974 and knew we wanted to get married there but did not know where to find the perfect place for our wedding. We decided to pick an elopement package at the Sanderling Resort in Duck NC and what a beautiful wedding we had! I would do it all over again if I could! Our guests are still talking about it. The Sanderling did not miss a beat! Our event planner Kristin Allen was so amazing and so professional. She helped us with every step of the planning, the vendor selections, the food, the beverages, the music, even down to bustling my dress before the reception. As the bride, she was my right hand and everything went as planned that day...on time...she did not miss a beat! We could not have been more pleased. The meal was absolutely delicious and every detail was in place. The staff was so professional and made all our guests feel welcomed. From the time all our guests checked in to the time they left it was a great experience. We cannot say enough wonderful things about the Sanderling. If you are wondering if this would be a good venue for your wedding then look no further. The Sanderling made our day one we will never forget!

While we weren't able to have our sons wedding at the Sanderling we did have our Rehearsal Dinner and Post Wedding Brunch there. Kimball's Kitchen was the spot we chose and what an outstanding spot it was. Although the weather wasn't what we would have liked for the Rehearsal Dinner (Mega storms) the atmosphere inside surely made up for the lack of a perfect sunset. The staff were incredible, moving around last minute changes for us. The service and food were outstanding to say the least. I have so many to thank but Kristen and the team really left a great impression on us all. We also had a Sunday brunch which was equally outstanding and all the invitee's loved it! If I have the opportunity to have my other son's wedding there I certainly wouldn't think twice about it! Joe Anzalone

The Sanderling Resort was the perfect place. We planned our wedding from out of town and it was basically site unseen. Debbie was so helpful throughout the process that the event was absolutely seamless. We could not have picked a better place or had a better time! All of our guests fell in love with it too! Where to begin with The Sanderling?! When we got engaged, my husband and I knew two things for sure: he wanted to get married on the Outer Banks and I wanted small and simple. We booked The Sanderling sight unseen (gasp, I know) from Detroit 6 months out. We based our decision entirely on online reviews and customer service over phone/email. It was the best decision. They connected us with the best vendors and made everything so, so easy. The only thing I worried about was the weather, and our coordinator (Kristen) was so sweet, she'd start our planning calls with "sunshine thoughts." It was a beautiful day in every way - the staff made us and our guests feel like VIPs the duration of our trip. The resort itself is gorgeous, the food was AMAZING. 100/10 stars all the way.

As an event planner myself, I wanted to escape all of the craziness that can (sometimes) go along with a big wedding. Instead, we opted for an elopement at the Sanderling Resort. It was simply perfect!

The Sanderling had been on our radar for years, but since we lived out of state, we hadn't had the opportunity to visit the resort in person. In late June, we were in the area for another wedding and jumped on the opportunity to visit. As soon as we stepped on the property, we knew this was where we wanted to get married. Debbie took a last minute meeting request from us, squeezing us into her busy Sunday, but you would have never known. From the every beginning, Debbie made us feel special. She took all the time necessary to show us around the property and outline the available options. When we got home we started the virtual planning process with Debbie, which was a breeze thanks to her knowledge, responsiveness and attention to detail.

In the end, we have Debbie to thank for helping us pull off our special day. We wanted our day to be low key and the focus to be about spending this precious time with one another and our immediate families. Debbie totally got it! She made our dream wedding attainable, and we were able to get everything planned in less than two months. The Sanderling staff and accommodations were fabulous. All of our guests loved their mini vacation in the Outer Banks. We could not have asked for anything more!

We had a short timeline and ever varying factors, but Davis handled it all perfectly! She is extremely responsive and genuinely cares about your event. She is knowledgeable, creative, and dedicated to making your event the way you want it. Thank you, Davis! Our wedding was truly beautiful, intimate, and easy because of your service! In addition, Sanderling's has a great view and friendly service. I would highly recommend it for your beach wedding!

Words can't express how absolutely pleased I was with my wedding at the Sanderling. I had begun planning a wedding in my area, but was feeling very overwhelmed by the cost, options, logistics, and general craziness that every bride and groom experiences. One late night, on a whim while feeling this overwhelm, I googled "Outer Banks elopement packages," and the Sanderling's weekday elopement packages was the first link. I immediately could see that I liked it. My then fiance and I visited the Sanderling a few weeks later while visiting the Outer Banks and I was hooked. We met with Davis, who is the sweetest and best wedding coordinator EVER! My husband said "I could see the stress melt away as she talked." The planning process was easy and stress free. I loved how organized and detailed Davis was. It really gave me confidence that everything would turn out well. In the week leading up to leaving for the wedding, I was a stress case. But, when I got to the Sanderling, all of that melted away. We met with Davis to go over plans, including alternate wedding set up since the forecast called for rain, and she stayed in touch to answer questions, even with other weddings to take care of. People talk about the wedding day being hectic and stressful. Mine was carefree and truly the best day ever. We woke up and had breakfast, and then my husband went to have his groom pampering at the spa while I had a coffee on the deck overlooking the ocean. I went back to the room to have my hair and makeup done, along with snacks I ordered for me and the ladies. We decided to set up the decor inside, because of the forecast, but ended up able to have our beach ceremony. Everything was gorgeous, and the food was terrific! Everyone said it was the best wedding they'd ever been to. We had one hiccup with the anniversary tier of our cake going missing, but that was a minor thing. Thanks to Davis and the Sanderling for giving me a wedding to remember!

There are not enough words to describe how perfect our wedding day was thanks to Davis Walker (our coordinator) and the team at Sanderling! We started our planning process over a year prior to our wedding day and Davis was so patient, honest and professional throughout. Once we were finally able to meet in person, we knew that we were able to trust her with everything! She infused so much fun into our planning process and made it stress-free. On our actual day, we didn't worry about a thing; she seamlessly worked with each of our vendors to ensure our day flowed well and our guests (and the two of us) were taken care of! Davis and all of the Sanderling staff truly went above and beyond to make our dream wedding a reality. With a pending thunderstorm threatening to change our plans, the staff seamlessly moved up our ceremony time so that we could still have the ceremony we always hoped for. They provided a list of excellent local vendors to work with and made sure the big day was everything we envisioned.

Davis Walker at the Sanderling Resort made our fairytale wedding into a reality. We had a 140-person wedding reception in the Pavilion and even with last-minute guest list changes, vendor adjustments, and skirting a thunderstorm, our day went off without a hitch. Throughout our planning year, Davis was available for any and all questions we had, helped us choose vendors, and guided us through all the many traditions and norms wedding planning entails. She really got to know us and our families and we felt special even though the Sanderling handles many weddings every single week. I couldn't have picked a better venue or coordinator if I had a billion-dollar budget!

As soon as my husband and I visited the Sanderling Resort and met with Davis Walker, the catering sales manager and wedding coordinator, we knew it would be perfect for our small wedding. We chose the elopement package at the Event House deck and had our ceremony on the beach. With this package, Davis made everything very easy and contracted out our officiant, florist, and baker. Despite only having less than two months to plan everything, the day was absolutely flawless and this was all thanks to Davis and all of the amazing staff at the Sanderling Resort. We wanted an easy and low stress planning process and I don't believe we would have gotten this anywhere else.

After a lot of research we stumbled upon Sanderlings and could not have been happier! The wedding coordinator Davis Walker made everything so effortless and she kept us on schedule in a stress free way! The staff, service and beauty of Sanderlings made our wedding day absolutely perfect! We will definitely be back in the future!

You CANNOT and WILL NOT go wrong with the Sanderling Resort as your wedding venue! During the planning process, my husband and I decided on a whim to check out Outer Banks for our destination style wedding (we live in NH). As we checked out various wedding venues, we narrowed our options down to four. To be honest, Sanderling was added as our "eh, we'll check it out because we love what we see, but we don't know if it's in a budget".

Sanderling was our second appointment. The first was a fail - the "coordinator" couldn't give us the time of day. We felt a tad discouraged, but excited to see the remaining three. We instantly fell in love with Sanderling. We met with Debbie and knew we were in the right place. She answered all our questions (even the ones we didn't know we had). We still visited the other two, but neither met the expectations that were set by Debbie. That afternoon, we went right back and told Debbie we wanted to book our date and that she was the reason why. No lie. Debbie is amazing.

To sum it up, our day was on 5.11.18 and it was absolutely amazing. We had our wedding at the Event House with 50 guests. Everything was seamless (including the planning process over the year) all because of Debbie and her team. The best compliment was I heard from MANY of our guests that 1) it was the best wedding they've been to and 2) the food was the best wedding food they've ever had (stations).

Overall, I have absolutely zero regrets with bumping our budget up a tad for the wedding of our dreams at Sanderling. Also, to add, we calculated it was worth it to have Debbie as she handled so many details, including the day-of details and timeline. She was a key detail in our amazing day and I will continue to rave about her, when asked!!

I can't say enough good things about Sanderling Resort and our coordinator, Davis Walker. Our wedding was flawless and it was because of all her hard work and professionalism that made it pay off! We had the best time and I would highly recommend this venue!!

Everything was perfect! The day does fly by so fast and this place has it down to a science and will guide you every step of the way. The site is beautiful, coordinators are wonderful, and food is delicious! Many compliments from guests.

Thanks to The Sanderling I had my DREAM wedding this past December. Everything was absolutely beautiful and perfect. I knew from the moment that I toured The Sanderling that it was where I wanted to get married. Everyone that I worked with was a true professional. They had some turnover with coordinators which worried me at first but it ended up working out perfectly and I wouldn't change a thing. They held an event in the Spring for all of the couples that were getting married that year and it was a blast! Thank you to The Sanderling for making my wedding dreams come true!

Our experience getting married at Sanderling exceeded expectations. Debbie, our planner, was very flexible with us and agreed to take us on when our previous planner had left for another opportunity. We were so lucky to get to work with her as she has so much experience and expertise in wedding planning at the Sanderling and paid attention to every detail. She was also extremely responsive, and willing to meet with us as our schedule allowed; we were planning our wedding from Washington, DC so being flexible was very helpful. The Sanderling also helped us with all of our external vendors. At the end of the day, it was so wonderful to know that Debbie would take care of everything, and she ensured the day went off without any issues. The Sanderling is also a beautiful venue and having access to the ocean side for the ceremony and sound side for the reception cannot be beat.

Debbie did such an outstanding job with our wedding. Even though it rained on our day, she made the day wonderful. She waited until the last possible minute to move our wedding inside and make it such a beautiful day. Debbie helped us from day one with booking everything for the day. I would highly recommend the Sanderling and Debbie.

The Sanderling was the perfect venue for our daughter's wedding. Davis Walker, our wedding coordinator, was thorough, professional and a pleasure to work with. She accommodated us and yet also offered suggestions on other alternatives. Her advice was perfect. The Sanderling chef worked with us and our guests have not stopped raving about the food. The Staff in all aspects of the resort - reservations, the spa, etc. were all very professional. Our guests all had a very memorable weekend and we cannot recommend the Sanderling enough.

The Sanderling Resort provided the perfect venue for our daughter’s wedding. They also had the perfect setting for the rehearsal dinner. Led by Debbie Taylor , she and her staff ,beautifully coordinated with the vendors to make weekend that all the guests said it was the best wedding ever!

The Sanderling was the perfect destination wedding venue. Davis pulled everything together and our wedding day exceeded our expectations! Our guests are still commenting on how great the dinner and desserts were.

Our experience with Debbie from Sanderling was amazing. She is attentive and my wedding couldn’t have gone any better. She really took care of everything.

I was a guest at a wedding at the Sanderling Resort this weekend, but in my real life I am a wedding planner. So, I know the importance of detail, hospitality and sense of urgency. Debbie, the wedding coordinator, is all that. I ran into a problem setting up the Chuppah (something the bridal family asked me to do) and set on a quest to find the wedding coordinator. I started at the front desk. They were all the sweetest and when I told them I had a "sort of" emergency pertaining to the wedding, they immediately called Debbie on her cell phone and 5 minutes later, we were meeting. In a matter of minutes, Debbie helped me solve a problem that was not even hers. When I asked for help, no explanation needed, she just went right into action and in the end, the ceremony looked beautiful. As the wedding progressed from the beautiful ceremony on the beach to the reception room with the most beautiful sunset, Debbie was always there. I kept seeing her out of the corner of my eye helping the bride, managing the staff and the DJ all while moving the reception right along so nothing was forgotten. They say the highest praise you can get is from another professional in your industry, well if I could give Debbie a 10, I would. Thanks again Debbie, any bride is lucky to have you in their corner!! When ever I have the opportunity, I will definitely recommend your services!!

When we decided to host our destination wedding at The Sanderling, we had already fallen in love with its beautiful decor. Over the past 8 months, we have visited twice and exchanged countless emails and phone calls with Taylor, Kristen and Davis, our wedding planners. When we arrived last Wednesday, we felt confident that our guests would fall in love with the resort as much as we had. Although weather required we move our ceremony indoors, we were able to use Keepers Loft, which was beautiful. The cocktail hour and reception was hosted inside the Event House, and could not have been prettier. The food was amazing, literally every single guest commented on how good everything was and how they were so full! The staff at Sanderling was so kind, compassionate, helpful and congratulatory they made our event and entire stay perfect. Thank you so much!

The Sanderling is top notch. Not only a beautiful resort, but the staff was amazing. My wedding planner Davis was fantastic. She worked her magic alongside her assistant Kristen and helped me plan the most perfect wedding. The venue is gorgeous, the food is delicious, and the service you receive is unmatched. You will notice that the Sanderling is a bit pricey compared to other options on the Outer Banks, but there is a reason why. I felt extremely taken care of and I wowed all of my guests which is a tough crowd to impress. This was a destination wedding and I'm from New Jersey, so I had to make the 9 hour drive worthwhile for everyone. I am still receiving compliments about how awesome our wedding was. We had our ceremony on the observation deck and the photos were PERFECT! Our first look was on one of the boat docks and it was just amazing. We took bridal party photos on the beach as well. Another great feature of the Sanderling is that they have multiple venues and you can really customize your day. Can't decide between a beach ceremony and sunset photos on the sound? The Sanderling has both! It is as easy as crossing the street to get the other shots. Your guests will be impressed and well taken care of. Plus, there's a bar open late which is a great spot for an after party. You won't regret choosing the Sanderling!

We had our small wedding at the Sanderling Resort on a Thursday evening booking their elopement package for the event house. We worked with Debbie as our wedding coordinator and can not say enough good things about her! We were planning from far away for this destination wedding and she made everything so easy on us. We had our perfect wedding because she was there to help us make it happen. She made sure to keep any stress should could off of us, which I really appreciated.
Our ceremony was on the upper deck over looking the ocean, which was perfect for our 37 guests to all fit on top of together. The cocktail hour and reception were outside of the event house. I loved this space because we had so many different areas for our guests to enjoy themselves. We had a dance floor, fire pit with s'mores, cornhole, large jenga, and a bar with beer canoe.
Having a destination wedding has its challenges, but the Sanderling Resort made it very easy for us. Our guests had the most amazing time and we had the wedding we dreamed of. We can't wait to spend anniversaries at the Sanderling!

The Sanderling Resort goes above and beyond on everything. From the moment we toured the venue, we knew this was the place to get married. Everyone is incredibly friendly, courteous, and knowledgable. With its views of the Sound and the Ocean, you cannot get a better location. Before our wedding, I would have written a 5-star review about the Sanderling and gush about its impressive qualities. However, it's what happened during our wedding that has made me a life-long loyal guest. We got married during Hurricane Matthew. The week leading up to the wedding was tortuous as we awaited what would happen to the wedding we had planned for two-and-a-half years. It was excruciating. Yet, Taylor and the Sanderling staff never wavered in their positivity. We knew we were in extremely capable hands. The wedding was beautiful and everything went smoothly, even if the plans abruptly changed. The Sanderling knows what it's doing. You can trust them and let them take the lead--even during a Hurricane.

The Sanderling Resort and Debbie (wedding/event planner at the resort) did a wonderful job with my wedding. I wanted my experience to be stress free and thats exactly what it was!! The resort is very beautiful and perfect for an Outer Banks beach wedding. The elopement package that I chose was perfect for the small, intimate wedding I was wanting. The vendors for my cake, flowers, and decor that I was set up did a wonderful job and were able to match my vision. The food provided for my wedding by the resort was also very good. Overall I had a great experience and highly recommend choosing the Sanderling!

I cannot even begin to describe our AMAZING experience with the Sanderling Resort. My husband and I were married there in late September of 2016 (beautiful time of year down there by the way!) and the entire process could not have been more special, more well-organized, or more thoughtful. From the beginning, our wedding coordinator Taylor (and her assistant Kristin) was so incredibly helpful and accessible. She was SUPER responsive to every phone call, email, or general question and always had time to chat and offer creative input with a positive attitude.

The facility itself is GORGEOUS! We were married on the North Beach (toes in the sand and everything) and then had our cocktail hour and reception in the Event House/Deck. It was the perfect amount of space for us-we had about 70 people and we comfortably filled the Event House dining space. The banquet staff and bartender were lovely and the food was phenomenal!! I've never heard so many compliments at a wedding about the food!

One of the best things we did was offer our guests a signature cocktail as they came down to the ceremony and the resort was completely accommodating with helping us do that. I recommend planning a sort of "after-party" for your wedding guests since everything at the resort pretty much shuts down around 10pm (due to a sound ordinance). We reserved space at the No. 5 Bar & Lounge above the Lifesaving Station right on the property and it stayed open till about 2am.....definitely a great post-game spot for the true night owls!

I really can't say enough about the Sanderling. My family and I have gone there throughout the years and have always loved it but now it holds an even more special place in our hearts! Please seriously consider the resort as a wedding venue location in the Outer Banks. And if you have the pleasure of working with Taylor, then your experience will be that much more wonderful. :)

Working with the Sanderling made planning a destination wedding a breeze. I work in the industry and knew this venue would live up to my high expectations while taking great care of me and my guests. My mother and my bridesmaids raved about how stress free the weekend was for them and I owe a lot of that to Taylor and her awesome team. She was open to any of my suggestions and made the planning process and weekend of so smooth. If you're looking at the Outer Banks, you already know the locations is gorgeous. You choose Sanderling because of the excellent service, great food, and fabulous sunsets.

The Sanderling Resort: the PERFECT spot to get married. Period. As if the beauty of the OBX isn't already enough, you get the best of both worlds as the property encompasses both the beach AND sound sides of the island. We had two events hosted at the Sanderling: our rehearsal dinner and wedding (including ceremony & reception). The venue alone is a lovely backdrop with gorgeous facilities and well equipped to handle anything you could possibly dream of- but you also get INCREDIBLE people. Our wedding planner, Taylor, was absolutely fabulous. She made wedding planning a breeze and during crunch time the week before the wedding with many unplanned obstacles she kept her cool- or rather the cool of everybody-and solved every little issue that came up- with a calming smile on her face. Taylor not only excelled at the more expected wedding planner roles, but she went way above and beyond with her thoughtfulness and attention to detail. Her thoughtfulness helped create a very touching moment between me and my godfather at the rehearsal dinner. The day of the wedding we had a delay with the transportation and she quickly addressed the issue and the ceremony still started almost exactly on time and the rest of the evening went off without a hitch. At a meeting with Taylor a couple months before the wedding she assured me I would be able to eat, drink and dance at my own wedding. Admittedly, I was a little doubtful as I had so many warnings from other brides that you just don't have time between visiting with guests and performing all the wedding "duties" i.e. cake cutting etc. Well, I did ALL of those things to my heart's desire as Taylor as created a seamless timeline that allowed my husband and I to literally have the night of our lives. There isn't near enough space here to describe all the wonderful things about the Sanderling- but everything: the place, the STAFF (best bartenders, waiters & support staff ever!!), the food (THANKS CHEF!!)... all top notch!

When starting to plan my wedding, I knew finding the perfect venue for my groom and I, was going to be tough. We knew that no matter where we had it, some of our guests would have to travel. After months of searching, we found the Sanderling. It was a perfect distance for our Maryland and Virginia Beach guests to travel and be able to enjoy their time not only for our wedding day, but for the weekend as well. OBX is such a relaxing and enjoyable place to stay. If you're looking for the perfect scenery and a fairy tale wedding that your guests will be talking about for months, book your wedding at the Sanderling. Not only was it so beautiful, but the staff at the resort are so delightful. They truly care about your experience while staying with them and want your wedding day to be nothing shy of perfect. Now, don't get my started on the wedding coordinating staff. They are AMAZING. We were blessed to have Taylor as our coordinator and I can't imagine the experience being what it was without her. Planning a wedding by yourself can be tough, but knowing I didn't have to worry about anything on the venue side of things really made the entire experience flawless. Taylor saved the day in so many ways and she always knew exactly what to do. She was born with such a special gift and I can not thank her enough. They worked diligently throughout, were an absolute pleasure to deal with, and, quite honestly, worked miracles making her beach wedding happen in spite of Hurricane Matthew! From the beginning, Debbie Norris and the Sanderling were exceptional. I attended the Sanderling Wedding Showcase and first met Debbie and other vendors there, and even though she was one of the busiest people present, she took out time to sit with me and talk about my wedding vision and how we would achieve it. I hadn't visited any other venues, and I no longer wanted to. I was completely sold! Professional, detail-oritented, kind, caring, organized...they were the whole package and more. She consistently remained in contact with me, and I still felt comfortable being 8 hours away from our venue. She and others were extremely patient with my indecisiveness and weekly questions, which she answered quickly. Her ability to talk me through each stage of the wedding process and especially all of words of encouragement on the day of my wedding and before I walked down the aisle will always be remembered. Initially my parents felt some sticker-shock, but on the day-of and once everything was complete, they were over the moon with happiness of how everything (every single thing imaginable) was taken care of with such grace, knowledge, and preciseness, and we wouldn't have changed a thing. My mother continues to comment on what a blessing it was to have her as a wedding coordinator, and that the level they work at is unmatched. It truly is amazing what she and her Sanderling team accomplishes, and I highly recommend them as a venue for any celebration or wedding. THE absolute best!!

We hosted our rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at the Sanderling Resort and we could not be more satisfied with the quality of service we received. The Sanderling is a beautiful resort and their staff is nothing short of phenomenal. We had the pleasure of working with their event coordinator, Taylor, who made every aspect of our event flow seamlessly. There is no one else who we would rather have collaborated with in planning our special day. The entire Sanderling staff goes so far beyond to ensure that your entire party has the best experience in every aspect of their stay. If we started listing examples, this review would never end. Our guests loved that the resort had everything that they needed in one convenient location, rooms, pool, beach, spa, gym, and several restaurants. Many of our guests were first time visitors to the Outer Banks and due to their experience at the Sanderling we have been told by many, that it will not be their last.

It's not very often that something exceeds expectations like the Sanderling did. My new husband and I live in Oregon, but were looking to have our wedding on the East Coast closer to family. He had lived in the Outer Banks years ago and suggested the location. We booked the venue before I had a chance to visit. Months later at their annual wedding showcase, I was blown away by the beauty of the resort, friendly staff, and delicious food! Once we got to planning, Debbie Norris was the best! She was so patient and responsive to all of our e-mails, even responding once when she was boarding a plane. I'm convinced she doesn't take time off and is always working hard for her couples! The planning process couldn’t have gone more smoothly, especially from across the country. On our wedding day, everything was beyond perfect. We had dropped some things off at the venue with the intent to set up, but Debbie took care of it all! Everything looked better than we could have imagined. If we could plan the wedding over (and I wish we could), we wouldn't do one thing differently. We are so thankful for Debbie and the Sanderling team! We can't wait to make more memories there in the future!

We were looking for a destination wedding venue for family located all over the US. We found Sanderling Resort, read the reviews and then had a call with Debbie Norris who is the Special Event Manager. From that first call, Debbie was straightforward, honest and was willing to work with my daughter to make this the special day she dreamed about. We booked the date and venue and this became the most wonderful, least stressful wedding on the planet. Debbie worked with Tracy to select colors, menu, etc. Once the details were finalized, there was little else to plan for other than selecting home rentals at Duck for the various families attending the wedding. Wedding Day dawned with rain blowing sideways and a chill in the air even though it was June. Debbie called first thing in the morning and walked us through 3 different game plans, depending on what the weather continued to do. Luckily, Tracy and Chris were able to be married on the beach, with blue sky and sunlight in the late afternoon. On to the reception, which was outstanding on every level. The hors d'oerves were excellent as was every aspect of the meal. The wedding cake was perfect for a beach wedding and Debbie added a lot of wonderful touches to the decorations, flowers, etc. We enjoyed sitting outside listening to the ocean and later enjoyed a bon fire with after dinner drinks. It was a magical evening for everyone who came to celebrate with us. And, while our wedding group was on the smaller side, Debbie and all the Sanderling staff made us feel like we were the most important wedding they'd ever done. I can't recommend Debbie Norris, the Sanderling staff and the venue enough if you are looking for a top notch wedding experience that is still on the more reasonable side.

My husband and I had our dream wedding at The Sanderling. Throughout the planning process the Sanderling was a dream to work with.

We started planning about a year in advance, and I was warned by just about everyone I talked to that plenty of things would go wrong on my wedding day and I'd just have to take that in stride. As a bit of a perfectionist, that was a hard pill to swallow and I kept preparing myself for things to go wrong but the magic of working with the Sanderling is that they never did.

I worked with an amazing planner on staff there. Debbie was an absolute dream. Whenever I had a question, she had a quick response with an answer. She's worked with so many vendors on the island, so she's established relationships with every single one of them. This helps a ton in the final days when everything is coming together.

I would highly recommend attending their wedding showcase, which they put on for all couples getting married at the Sanderling. Not only will it give you a sense of the quality of service and food (which was MINDBLOWINGLY DELICIOUS) but it gives you a sense of how that would work for a wedding of 100+ people. I think we were all sold when we realized that the food didn't taste like bland wedding food, it was restaurant quality and a nice restaurant at that!

I think my husband had some reservations about essentially having our wedding and reception at a hotel, but the Sanderling never felt like a hotel. It felt more like a home for our closest friends and family. I would highly, highly recommend the Sanderling to anyone who is considering having a wedding on the Outer Banks - or just getting married period. You won't regret it!

My only regret is that our wedding is over!

The Sanderling did an amazing job with our wedding! Debbie was a dream to work with and knew exactly what we wanted. I felt like I just had to walk into that day without a worry or concern and I was able to enjoy myself Everything was flawlessly taken care of. My husband and I can't stop talking about how perfect everything was. We also loved our bartender from the Rehearsal Dinner at Keeper's Loft to the reception at the Event Deck/House. Having grown up coming to the Outer Banks my whole life (family is from MD) and my parents and grandparents owning houses about 5 minutes from the Sanderling, I knew that OBX was where I wanted to get married, and the Sanderling was basically the only place we looked!! We just knew it was perfect location wise and they have stellar reviews and a reputation of excellence in OBX. We'd eaten there before at their restaurant but I was still amazed at how awesome the food was at our wedding!! Everyone commented on it!
We had the pleasure of having Taylor as our event coordinator and she was awesome! She always answered all my emails quickly and put up with all my questions (especially planning a NC wedding from MO). She was a Godsend. And she really made the day run SO smoothly once we got there. She and the whole Sanderling staff are super accommodating and helpful.
It can seem a little pricey but you really get what you pay for. The venue is top notch and all of our guests commented on how beautiful the ceremony, reception space, and the whole place in general was. And like I said before...the food is seriously AMAZING!!! (Way better than any other wedding food I've had.)

My husband Brent and I were married at the Sanderling Resort September 19, 2015, with a wedding of about 30 people. We are from Virginia, so we came across the Sanderling Resort when searching for wedding venues that met our interests in having a beach wedding. We did some research and were very impressed with their exceptional reviews, so we decided to visit the Sanderling Resort before booking the venue. When we arrived, it did not take long to realize that the Sanderling was the perfect place to have our wedding. It is an absolute beautiful resort all around. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are nice, food is great, and they have many wonderful amenities.
For our wedding, we had the privilege of having Debbie as our wedding coordinator. She met all of our needs from start to finish. She was fantastic throughout the entire planning process – professional, experienced, fun to plan with, more than happy to answer any and all questions that will come up during wedding planning process, and much more! She was wonderful with listening to our expectations of our special day and executing everything perfectly the day of. Brent and I could not have been more pleased with how our wedding turned out. Our guests raved about everything from how beautiful the ceremony location was, the decorations, our cake, to how delicious the food was!

Sanderling is a beautiful place to get married. It was like our own exclusive beach in September. Staying at the resort itself is a bit pricey but you can rent some amazing homes nearby for the week. The wedding dinner was delicious! I did different stations and there was so much food I didn't even get to eat all of it. Debbie was my wedding planner and she was a fantastic help. You definitely need somebody day of to tell everyone where to go and what to do. The day was a huge success.

The Sanderling is the most beautiful place to get married!, The staff is very professional and inviting from the second you get out of your car to the front, desk, restaurants, house cleaning Etc. Debbie Norris was our coordinator and Taylor her assistant. They both went over and beyond to make sure we had the perfect wedding. Debbie is very experienced in her profession and we felt very comfortable with her making any decisions, changes that were in our best interest. Debbie works very well with other vendors, keeping them updated with changes, itineraries etc. We love that she is a risk taker and allowed us to get married outside when weather was in question, and most all made it possible for our two dogs to be a part of our wedding! I am one with a type A personality and likes to be in control, and for one of the first times in my life had no reservation with her taking the lead. For any future brides looking for a magical place...this is a sure thing and any bride would be lucky to have Debbie make it all so to the best of her ability!

I couldn't be happier with our wedding all because of the sanderling! Debbie Norris was our coordinator and I honestly couldn't have done it without her. She made it such a none stressful process for me that I was able to go to the beach and just relax the morning of my wedding. She coordinated with all my vendors and planned my timeline. When we arrived on property the day before the wedding, I dropped all my decorations off with her and she took care of the rest! It was beautiful... Thank you so much for everything!!

Great venue for a destination wedding! Debbie Norris at the resort was awesome to work with on every step of the way. Due to weather issues she was very accommodating to our every need. Our little Yorkie dog Chloe was part of the wedding ceremony and Debbie made it happen. The spa at the resort was very accommodating also. Viviana and the others did a great job with hair and nails. The Sanderling Resort and Spa is a great place for a destination wedding!

My husband and I visited practically every location on the Outer Banks to get married, and after each one I said "this one is nice, but the Sanderling was my dream wedding location." This was my mantra through the whole wedding process.

Debbie (our coordinator) was fabulous. Everything you need to think about, she has already thought about it and figured it out for you. Planning a wedding is stressful, planning a destination wedding is even more so, but with Debbie at the helm you have nothing to fear.

The Sanderling transformed our day into something that could have been out of a magazine. Our guests left saying our wedding was the best they had ever been to (including their own).

We were lucky enough to have the most perfect weather you could possibly have for a wedding. We got married on the observation deck overlooking the ocean (all the same sounds without the sand), but even if the weather was crappy, we had an awesome back-up plan (the Event House or the Pavilion).

Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Although the Sanderling is on the pricier side of things, it is the only place in the Outer Banks where you get the best of both worlds, ceremony on the ocean and reception overlooking the sound. The back-up plan is worth the extra money in itself. Compared to some of the "nice" hotels in the DC area we looked into, the Sanderling was less expensive and much, much nicer. Also, the food was to die for.

If you are looking for the best place to get married, look no further than the Sanderling.

The Sanderling is a wonderful venue in an absolutely stunning location - the Northern Outer Banks! Our wedding day was everything we could have hoped for and more. Debbie, our co-ordinator, managed to organise everything we wished for, from the ceremony on the beach, to dinner and drinks by the bay and a party in the charming Life-saving Station! All of our requests were taken into account and met with a can-do attitude. Debbie even helped fix one of our speakers' picture slide show format during cocktail hour!
And even without rehearsing, everything went exactly as we wanted! All the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and was always smiling. We love this place and will definitely be back!

The Sanderling Resort provided us with the perfect beach wedding for my son and now daughter-in-law. All the staff at the resort were incredibly helpful. Whether it was an answer to a question or providing us with something we needed. But the person who deserves the most credit for helping make the wedding incredible was Alicia Tonione, our Event Coordinator at the Sanderling. She led me through the planning process with incredible patience and professionalism.

I can't say enough how wonderful our Sanderling wedding was! My now husband and I decided to go for an elopement package and expedite our plans when we learned he would soon be deploying with the Army National Guard. Alicia and her team were amazing and so helpful since I had no idea what I was doing and not a lot of time to figure it out.

All of the vendors we booked through Sanderling -- Sugar Snap Events, Rev. Jay Bowman -- were fantastic as well! Everyone in attendance had a wonderful time and continuously said so! There is not one thing I would have changed.

The thing I wouldn't recommend is the spa. I got a gel main, a pedi and an updo and my husband got a massage. None of the services were great (the woman who did my hair was so nice and did a great job considering I have very thin hair and told her "just do whatever!") but you can get better results for less money elsewhere.

The resort, staff and amenities are bar none. I highly, highly recommend Sanderling. We will definitely be back to celebrate our anniversary and hope to make it a tradition!

I had searched all up and down the east coast for a wedding venue and right when I stepped in the Sanderling, I knew it was the perfect place. Even in the dead of Winter in February, it had me at hello! I'm a wedding planner so I knew exactly what I was searching for; a place our guests could arrive and stay put for their entire stay -- no buses/cabs, getting lost in cities they aren't familiar with, just hanging out in once place all weekend. The Sanderling made that possible, our guests arrived from all over the country and were able to sit back and relax and enjoy the beach, pools, restaurants, bars and each others company. Since everyone was at the same place, we got to spend ample time with our guests which we loved. We had various events at the Sanderling including a welcome reception, ceremony, reception and a Sunday brunch. We worked closely with Wendy and she was fantastic, excellent at communicating with us and answered all of my questions very promptly. We had a very large wedding and the first that used a tent on the event lawn and Wendy and her team executed everything flawlessly-- we honestly had the perfect day. The staff at the Sanderling are some of the best I've ever worked with. They are professional, kind and will help your guests with whatever they need, such as finding Ray Ban Sunglasses the day before the wedding for me to give my groom (opps! I forgot that detail). Our guests have not stopped talked about the food; the bacon bar is brought up to us on a weekly basis! The guest rooms are also lovely, the perfect blend of nautical and modern touches with an overall sense of pure relaxation. I really can't think of a more perfect setting for a couple to have their wedding; between the customer service, location, views, staff, food and stellar resort--- it's just all around wonderful!

Wendy and the entire staff at The Sanderling Resort exceeded all of our expectations! They were there every step of the way in planning our daughter's wedding, and executed without a flaw. The venue was the ideal place to host a large wedding and be able to have the rehearsal dinner, welcome party, wedding and reception and brunch the following morning, as well as have the guests stay on site and not have to drive. Each and every staff member was helpful, friendly and pleasant, all of the guests felt like royalty that weekend. It was all we dreamed it could be, we think they even had something to do with the perfect weather the weekend of June 7.

I cannot say enough about the Sanderling Resort and ESPECIALLY our wedding coordinator, Debbie. We had the best experience from top to bottom. Debbie was on top of every last detail. I was pleasantly surprised, at our first meeting, to see she had printed out every picture I had sent her and kept it in our wedding file with her personal notes. We felt very well taken care of and looked out for. As for the actual event...our wedding day was going to be rained out so we put it in Debbie and the rest of the staff's hands to transform our "Rustic, Backyard Barbecue" wedding into something that would work in the Pavilion venue. I had resigned myself to an "It's going to be what it's going to be" mentality. But shame on me! I was AMAZED at what they did. Everything was absolutely perfect. I would recommend The Sanderling to anyone. Seriously. The whole vibe, the service and the overall experience was just perfect. The staff is wonderful and made us and our guests (who vacationed in Duck for the entire week as well) feel like family. We were all really sad to leave. Our wedding week was a dream come true, thanks almost entirely to The Sanderling Resort. DO NOT HESITATE!

The Sanderling Resort was THE ABSOLUTE BEST place to get married. The Outer Banks is special to me as my family has vacationed there for as long as I can remember, but after our experience with the Sanderling Resort I can 110% say that everyone should consider getting married at there. Just a few of my million reasons to love the Sanderling Resort:
1. The service is wonderful! The staff went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy during the rehearsal dinner, welcome reception, and then our entire wedding day. Each of them made sure everyone had plenty to drink and eat and that they didn't need anything else. can't tell you how many staff members asked me during the reception if they could bring me more food or drink as I was running around saying hello to all the guests. One of the servers named Wanda even wiped sand off from my back that had blown on during beach photos after the ceremony!
2. Debbie our wedding coordinator was fabulous. She quickly and happily responded to my million emails the months in advance and the week of the wedding she met with me several times to hash out last minute details. She was there the entire wedding day and ensured that everything went smoothly. Anyone who has her help during the wedding planning process and wedding day is a very lucky bride.
3. The food was superb! I can't tell you how many of our guests told me, my husband, and our parents that not only was it the best food they had ever had at a wedding but some of the best food they have EVER had. From the bacon bar to the seafood bar everything was absolutely delicious.
4. The location is beautiful. We got married on the event lawn and had the reception in the pavilion. Both locations were absolutely perfect and everyone commented how pretty the locations for the different events and the resort were.
5. The spa - I had my hair/makeup done in the resort's spa as did my bridesmaids. Viviana did my hair and she was fantastic!

What a wonderful experience! We were married this past Memorial Day weekend; even with the busy holiday, we never felt rushed. Excellent service! Debbie and her team are fantastic, warm, lovely people- we are already planning our next trip to the Sanderling!

The Sanderling resort didn't put on our wedding but we stayed at the Sanderling and were married on the beach in front of the resort. Our stay, food, and service was amazing. The amenities and the resort were even better if thats possible. Great staff,very knowledgable! You cant go wrong by choosing the Sanderling Resort for ANY of your dreams!!!!

The Wedding reception was held at the Sanderling and it was wonderful! I live in Florida but have relatives in the Outer Banks and my daughter loves it there so we decided to have the wedding up there and the reception at the Sanderling. Everything was wonderful! We received many compliments on the food and atmosphere. My daughter and her husband stayed at the Sanderling for their honeymoon and loved it completely. So many things to do up there and great restaurants. I highly recommend this as a wedding venue.

Debbie was the perfect person for me, 62 years old and completely unfamiliar with what goes into a wedding. She gave me suggestions, but also let me make my own decisions. Her vendors were perfect--from the minister to the cake maker. I never felt pressured or overwhelmed--she was patient, easy-going, and relaxed. It was the perfect wedding.

We had a small dinner for 29 in The Lifesaving Station Restaurant. Kary Welker was extremely helpful with menu planning (especially because I have several food allergies). The dinner was just perfect - our guests were raving about the menu, generous portions, and service. The food came out quickly and altogether. My gluten free, vegan meal was delicious. The waitstaff were wonderful. The restaurant itself is beautifully understated - white bead board, navy, very nautical, casual/elegant.

I must say our wedding at The Sanderling Resort was everything that we could have hoped for on our special day! The resort itself is simply peacful, elegant, yet relaxing. As soon as we walked into the Beach House to check-in, I immediately felt at ease. It's hard to describe, but we immediately felt at home (execpt at the beach) as soon as we stepped foot on the property. Our guests all felt the same way. We stayed for a couple of days, and by the time we left I felt as though we had become old friends with the staff. The service was absolutley awesome!

We worked directly with Jessica Chapman to coordinate any and everything for the wedding. From the rehersal, to the rehersal dinner to the final touches at the reception. She was with us every step of the way. She made sure that everything we had previously discussed and planned was taken care of. She kept us on track at the reception, reminding us of the all important things...like eating! Which is so easy to forget to do! Jessica coordinated our wedding day timeline with all of our vendors including the DJ, florist, cake delivery, and officiant, so my husband and I could simply enjoy the day. She made it seemless, which cannot be easy to do! In fact, our officiant even complimented her, saying how much he loves weddings at The Sanderling because he trusts Jessica will take care of things and make it easy on everyone involved. Our guests would call and make their reservations, and then call us to say how wonderful she was to speak with! Most of the guests actually hugged her when they met in person. She is thoughtful, courteous, and made us feel at ease duriing the entire process.

We can't wait for our next trip back to The Sanderling!

Sanderling Resort is the most amazing wedding spot! Jessica Chapman did such a wonderful job helping us plan from out of state and made the day flawless. We highly recommend planning a wedding or vacation at Sanderling Resort, you will be amazed at the bueaty and the great service!

Sanderling has it all! A gorgeous resort with multiple options for your ideal wedding: inside, outside, on the beach, in the dunes, soundside pavillion, and oceanside event house but the best thing they offer... is a wonderful coordinator, Debbie. Debbie was there to help us throughout the planning process and coordinate among all of our vendors. She helped our day go so smoothly and really, truly made our day HER priority.

We cannot be more thankful for her services, vendor recommendations, and execution of our vision. Her team must also be recognized because everyone else she works with at Sanderling was also on their A game for us, Natasha is a rock-star too!

Debbie helped make everything we wanted to have happen that day - happen as seamlessly as possible. She kept us on target and took care of everything so that we could truly enjoy our day, which goes by TOO FAST !!!! Every idea or change we wanted - Debbie handled it. Even some out-of-the-box ideas we really wanted, Debbie / Sanderling were able to do it. Debbie went well above and beyond her job for us and for that we will always be grateful. She did whatever it took to make sure we (and our guests) were happy.

The bridal party was at the Spa for hair appointments that morning and Debbie came over to check in on us too. All the girls loved their hair. My groom and I had actually booked the Couples Suite Massage the first night we arrived before the "chaos" began and it was the best decision that I would share with brides-to-be.

I was too excited to eat much on wedding day at all so I'm only a little sad that my bacon donut was cleared away from our table before I had a chance to taste it!

We even exited our ceremony on our motorcycle - how cool is that!? Debbie made our dream happen!

Wonderful venue, food, service !!!

The Sanderling is the perfect total package if you are looking to get married on the Outer Banks. The have a fantastic team, they recommend amazing vendors and the service can not be matched. Not to mention they have a built in weather plan for anyone that is worried about the unpredictable weather on the beach. As soon as we decided this is the place for us we were assigned a wedding coordinator (Jessica) who answered every question and helped with everything!!! They gave us a packet of recommended vendors which was a life saver considering I was planning this wedding from Wisconsin!!

I would highly recommend going to the wedding show that they host so you can meet the vendors and see the spaces in use. They offer an amazing tasting so we could try our dishes before offering them to our guests. From constantly checking in with us to see how our planning was going to staying in communication with our vendors the Sanderling took away any anxiety you could have during wedding planning.

They offer several different wedding locations so you can have whichever kind of wedding you dream of. We had our ceremony right on the beach and had our reception across the street at the beautiful pavilion. We have nothing but fantastic things to say about The Sanderling and have already recommended it to friends. Thanks Jessica and our Sanderling Family!

There isn't a bad word that can be said. Everything was over the top and the service was unbelievable. The suggestions of the officiant, and the photographer was spot on to our needs, and our style of personality. Jessica Chapman (Sanderling Representative) did an outstanding job of learning what we wanted, and who we were as individuals, and as a couple. She tied everything together beautifully, and we had nothing but a magical experience. Can not be happier!!!!!!!!! Our wedding at the Sanderling Resort was absolutely perfect! Jessica was always responsive and did everything to ensure our day was just how we envisioned it. We couldn't be happier with our decision to have our wedding at the Sanderling! It was the perfect location along with a great team that made our day so special! Since we were planning a destination wedding, we were looking for an all inclusive venue- someplace we could have the ceremony, reception and our guests could stay. We looked at several options, but the Sanderling was the most beautiful location.
Our wedding coordinator was Debbie Norris and she was incredible. Debbie was always available to answer questions via phone and e-mail; typically, my e-mails were answered within minutes. She stood by us every step of the way to make sure every detail was perfect. The food at the reception was exceptional and all of the recommended vendors did a fantastic job.
My husband and I both live in Pittsburgh, so we planned everything over the phone after seeing the resort. Debbie was great about helping us identify the best vendors. The wedding was above and beyond anything we could have expected. The food was exceptional, the flowers/decorations were phenomenal, the venue was stunning.
The only complaint I had was that my room was quite small especially considering I had several girls getting ready in there, but we still had a beautiful ocean view.
I also used the spa for hair, make-up and nails for myself as well as my family/ bridal party the day of the wedding. The team did an amazing job and was great with accommodating last minute scheduling conflicts. We also ordered lunch for our group and were surprised by how lovely the set up was.
We really had our dream wedding. I highly recommend choosing the Sanderling as a venue, if you are starting to plan your wedding in the area.

The most perfect day at the most perfect location with THE most perfect Staff! You can't beat the beautiful beaches of the Outer Banks or the Sanderling Resort itself but the thing that put it over the top was the service. Jessica Chapman was our Planner at the Sanderling. I felt as if I had my Best Friend organizing, planning and supporting me in every step of the planning process. And then on the Big Day she stood right by my side ensuring the day went perfectly. We could not have had such a beautiful ceremony and reception without her.
We especially loved the little extras that the Sanderling was able to provide. From the "Mr. & Mrs." Corn hole games set on the lawn to the S'more's bar (to toast on the fire pit). These little extra's made our Wedding fun and delicious. The wait staff was not only helpful and professional but went out of their way to ensure we were taken care of. They made sure food was sent to our Room so that my husband and I could enjoy a snack after the Wedding. AND it was much appreciated! You don't eat much at your own wedding!!! BUT what we did eat was amazing!!!!
Our Wedding will be something we remember and treasure for the rest of our lives and we will return each year to the Sanderling to celebrate our Wedding!

We had our wedding here in May 2013. It is a beautiful venue and a great place to host your wedding weekend. It has all the amenities you'd need. We had our welcome dinner, ceremony and reception here. The conference center deck was a great place for our stationed welcome dinner and we loved having the fire pit for our s'mores. The pavilion were we had our reception is a great clean slate to create whatever look you'd like for your wedding. It also has a perfect view of the sunset over the water. Our plated dinner was delicious and they easily accommodated special drinks and snacks that we wanted to include. We worked with Debbie who helped coordinate our wedding. She was great! Very attentive, stays on top of and there with you 100% day of. Planning a destination/ out of town wedding can be difficult so it is important to have that ease of communication with your even coordinator- I highly recommend that you contact Debbie at the Sanderling if your considering an OBX wedding.
