Perfect Location for our Wedding!

After COVID canceled our destination wedding in 2020, we knew we wanted to stay local. After looking at venus throughout San Antonio, we KNEW SABOT was PERFECT! It had the tropical feel we were going for, without the sand or a flight! The ceremony took place in the amphitheater and the reception was in the conservatory. We could not have found a more dreamy location and the SABOT team was amazing to work with! Highly recommend!

Great Space Great Staff

Shimeyka, the events manager at the gardens, was extremely helpful in getting our event planned and taken care of at the Botanical Garden. We used the Discovery Classrooms for our reception and the Space was the perfect size, very clean, and perfectly set up to accommodate our guests! The Event Staff on hand was very helpful and knowledgeable of the AV systems in the Room. I will definitely look forward to our next event with SABOT

Beautiful garden venue

The San Antonio Botanical Garden provided us with a fantastic wedding experience, one that our families and guests will never forget! After being stood up by a different vendor for a venue tour, we took to the web looking for alternatives. That's when we found the Botanical Gardens. The very same day, Shimeyka told us to come see the venue, and we were blown away. The location is stunningly beautiful, highly unique, enormous, and affordable. They have so much to offer, the possibilities are limitless. Furthermore, working with Shimeyka was fantastic as she is helpful, professional, and personable. All throughout planning and executing the wedding, this venue delivered on the promise of being LGBT friendly. My husband and I felt so welcome and supported. We are truly thankful to Shimeyka and all the staff for helping to make our dream wedding come true.

Beautiful and simple!

SA Botanical Garden was one of our top choices for venues and we’re happy we stuck with it. Our coordinator was very helpful every step of the way, including day of the wedding! The location we chose was around the general public, but everyone was very kind and respectful about clearing the area when it was time for the wedding to begin. All of the florals and even the walk to our location was beautiful in itself! In the end we were very satisfied with our decision, we would highly recommend it.

Beautiful location with an incredible price

We had our wedding ceremony here and it was perfect! Not only was it like 70% cheaper than using a wedding venue, but it was so beautiful. There were already beautiful flowers and greenery everywhere so I did not have to worry about a florist, and we had so many gorgeous built in photo spots between the outdoor spaces and the greenhouses. The event staff were so kind and helpful and made the process painless for us. They even had a event coordinator on site for the event to help with set-up and directions so that we did not have to worry about it day-of. If you are a thrifty bride and are looking for a way to save money without sacrificing location, this is such a great spot!

Botanical Gardens = no regrets

We had our wedding at the Botanical Gardens in March 2019 and were blown away by the overall experience. The venue itself was exactly what we were looking for in terms of atmosphere, scenery and overall experience. Shimeyka and the rest of the staff were nothing but helpful before and during the wedding and I couldn’t praise them enough.

My people loved this venue!!

I loved visiting SABOT already, so hosting my wedding reception in the conservatory there just made sense. I could not have picked a better venue!! They are so accommodating, and Shimeyka gave me resources that helped me plan the party myself (which I was so nervous to do)! Everyone loved it. All the vendors and all the guests. Even people who weren’t invited have been messaging me asking where we went! Our photos from that night are stunning. In mid June my Mom kept saying it would be too hot, but at night it was just fine. The space accommodated catering, an Airstream Bar, an LED Dance Floor, Photobooth, Video Presentation and all the works! This was in every way the most perfect venue- and will be even more fun for me to visit now!

Shimeyka's fantastic to work with! Here's an excerpt from a message I sent to the Executive Director of the San Antonio Botanical Garden:

We (along with 9 other organizations) had a wonderful intergenerational event on January 21 in the Discovery Center at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. I worked with Shimeyka Olivares, Special Events and Rentals Manager, to plan the event and wanted to let you how very pleased our organization was with the whole experience from start to finish.

The event was in planning when I took it over in August, and Shimeyka made sure I was up to speed on all aspects, and thoroughly answered my many (many) questions in a timely manner. During our site visits she gave us a great visual of how our layout would look, and was patient when we wanted to stop and measure areas or discuss additional set up ideas.

The staff she had in place the day of was equally as impressive, and the kids and seniors who attended had a really fun time. Congratulations on the Garden expansion, it’s beautiful. We’ve already referred people for events, and have told them how nice it was to work with Shimeyka.

The Gardens was a fabulous venue for our event! The staff, starting with the Event Manager Shimeyka Olivares, Chef David and day of event personnel was amazing. Their professionalism, insights, suggestions, experience and execution of our event, made our guests fall in love with the Gardens, and our event, which due to it's success that night has been turned into an annual event. I would highly recommend the venue for any occasion.

We hosted a bridal shower in The Auld house at The Botanical Garden in May and everything was beautiful The staff is helpful and friendly. Our guests were very impressed with the whole experience. Thank you for having such a lovely place for us to share with our friends!

The location was absolutely amazing ... Having an outdoor wedding with flowers around us was perfect. Shemika was awsome to work with. She did anything possible to make our special day be right. I would recommend this venue to anyone . Many locations to choose from inside the garden.

We are so pleased with this venue!! The customer service was beyond words. We live in another state and Shimeyka, the Special Events Manager, was such a delight to work with. We would recommend this place to any couple looking for a romantic and intimate setting for their wedding.

The San Antonio Botanical Gardens provided a beautiful setting for our wedding. We had the ceremony at the conservatory and the reception in the arbor area around the fountains. Our guests really enjoyed having the opportunity to walk around the gardens before and after the ceremony; many had never visited the gardens before so it was an added bonus to our guests. We chose this venue because it was where we had one of our first dates, and the price was more reasonable than others we had looked at. The event coordinator Shimeyka was very sweet and was very responsive with all my questions via email. I would definitely recommend this venue to any future brides who are wanting a garden/outdoor wedding, it's beautiful. Just be aware that you will have to use their preferred vendors because the gardens want people who are familiar with the grounds. I had no problems with any of the vendors listed, all were wonderful.

It was truly a pleasure working with the event coordinator from the botanical gardens. She was so easy to work with. And the price was so much cheaper than what I was thinking it would be, and you even get the security deposit of $300 back as long as there are no problems. My husband and I got married by the lake under the trees in the exact spot where he proposed. The scenery was so beautiful we didn't need to bring anything to decorate! We held our reception at the Auld house, which was perfect because guests didn't have to walk too far and it was air conditioned!

Wow! This place was amazing!! We had a pretty small group about 60-70 and they all have told us how beautiful it was. We were so excited to see everything blooming and super green. Shimeyka was honestly the reason we chose the gardens. We had gone to another botanical gardens in Austin and although it was beautiful the staff seemed so rude and unhelpful! We were so excited to meet Shimeyka and so pleased with her assistant Priscilla, who took over the day of the wedding, was also so helpful! She was a rock star! I have been recommending the gardens to every new bride i meet. Seriously, amazing!

I highly recommend the San Antonio Botanical Garden as a wedding and reception site. It is gorgeous, and the event staff were very helpful and accommodating. The setting truly can't be beat -- the lovely flowers, the paths that lead to the event space, the bird songs and water features -- as well as the spectacular architectural and art features -- made it perfect. We used the Conservatory space for my daughter's wedding -- which has a long, terraced stairway that was perfect for the bridal party to enter (with the fanfare of a bagpiper). The ceremony itself was held in front of the pond, and the reception was held under the covered pathways which lead to glass buildings that hold cacti, orchids and ferns. I hightly recommend it!

I've always loved the SA Botanical Gardens and when trying to decide where I wanted to conduct my ceremony, I knew I wanted an outdoor venue that was picturesque. The Botanical Gardens serves as the perfect wedding spot. With all the blooms and lovely landscaping there is no need for any decorations. To be outside and in a lovely space was the perfect setting to start our journey.

We booked with San Antonio Botanical Gardens because someone we know was married there. The week after their wedding, i emailed them and got information and set up a tour for ourselves. After the tour, we decided to go ahead and book with them. From the time we took the tour to the time we had our wedding it was 7 months. Shimeyka Olivares, the special events coordinator, was always there to help us with any questions we had, and trust us, we had a lot. She always responded quickly too, which i liked. The place itself is just beautiful and so serene and peaceful. There are also so many spots to take amazing pictures. We only held our ceremony there so i cant comment on reception spots, but i am still sure those would be just as great! We got married underneath their wisteria arbor and the rental was for 2 hours, and set up the chairs and decorations ourselves. But the time frame was perfect for us. And it was the most affordable place we could find for that amount of time. We paid $365 for the rental fee and $100 for the security deposit, which you get back if you leave the venue in the same condition as started in. ( It was REAL nice to get back form our mini honeymoon to find out we had money coming our way!! )
I would HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone who is on a smaller budget, looking for an outdoor wedding. I cant wait to see all the pictures my photographer took!! If i could do it all over again, i wouldn't change anything.

Plan for weather conditions so look at more than one area just in case. Ask for Sara or Priscilla they know what they're doing and are very helpful! Dont be afraid to splurge a little more for the bridal room it really comes in handy especially in the summer months since it's air conditioned.

If you are wanting an outdoor wedding close to downtown San Antonio, this is your place. The folks over at the Botanical Gardens are so helpful and responsive. We worked primarily with Shimeyka, and she was absolutely wonderful, even reaching out to some of our venders when we needed help. You will have different location options for both ceremony and reception. We ended up having to change location on the day of the wedding because of light rain, but the gardens are so beautiful that it worked out perfectly and we were still extremely happy. We having nothing but good things to say about them!

We had a small meeting of the Colonial Dames at 11:00. They provided tables ,chairs and a podium. After the meeting a salad buffet lunch was served. It was delicious, reasonably priced and well received by our ladies. We had about 24 ladies in attendance and all were most pleased!

SABOT was an amazing location to hold my intimate ceremony. Shimeyka Olivares was very responsive and answered all my questions with a short time frame. The location photographs so well and honestly I feel like I saved so much money by picking a georgeous location. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone.

The event site was gorgeous! So many of my family members were amazed at how beautiful everything was. From booking the site, to the having the event, it all went so smoothly and we were able to have a beautiful baby shower! Now we are thinking of booking the site for my brother's wedding too!!

Fabulous location. The SA Botanical Gardens are a beautiful and unique backdrop for any event. Staff are very responsive and eager to help. Just be careful to obey the rules designed to protect the gardens. Will definitely hold future events at this location.

Amazing location my husband and i were married in Wisteria Arbor and it was a beautiful location with the waterfalls in the background and green coverage for our guests. The botancial gardens offer so many options to take pictures that its made it hard to choose which background was better as all are amazing .The staff was very helpful and nice the day off and during rehearsal. I couldnt have asked for anything better on our wedding day.

Shimeyka Olivares, the Botanical Gardens' Special Events and Rentals Manager, is such a wonderful person to work with when planning your event. She was so very helpful with ideas and listened to my tastes and desires and made excellent suggestions that guided me through the whole process. The Botanical Gardens are beautiful any time of year and the Auld House rental was excellent in that it had central heat / air. The fireplace was gorgeous and warm, too, for the cooler morning that led to a beautiful January day for our ceremony. Also, the price is extremely reasonable for the value! They made my dream come true! Thank you so much!!!!

Shimeyka (Gardens) and Erin (Anne Marie Carriage House Catering) were wonderful! They had an answer for every question I had and thought about things that I didn't!! I would highly recommend anyone looking for a great place for a great event to go with the gardens and to work with these two. You will not find anyone better!

The gardens themselves were a great backdrop for the event as well! The guest were able to enjoy the surroundings in the natural down times that go with any events.

Shimeyka and Erin at the Gardens were a joy and pleasure to work with. My husband and I had many special memories at the Botanical Gardens so when we got engaged it was top on our list of venues. We decided that venue, budget, and inclusivity of services was important for us and when we learned about the Auld House package at the Bridal Expo my bridesmaids, and the mothers and I knew we had a winner! Upon the first meeting with Shimeyka and Erin we were pleased with how they kindly answered all our questions and concerns. Erin (the Bistro) thought of everything when it came to decor and catering and Shimekya went over and above to make our day special. We will forever remember our day in large part to the hard work of the garden staff. I would highly recommend the San Antonio Botanical Gardens without reservations !

I had a seamless experience with my wedding at the gardens. I was in the amphitheater during the winter.

Pros:
It was not that expensive for us.
Very beautiful. The photos came out great.
They were very good at answering emails and phone calls.
They were quick to return the security deposit.
Lots of free parking.
They were hands-off and didn't pester us.

Cons:
You may only order through Aztec Rentals for Chairs. We had a standing only ceremony because the chairs would have been outrageously expensive.
They didn't let us serve cake or drinks given our package.
They misquoted us for the price at our first meeting. In their defense it was the workers first day of work.
They said we couldn't use fake flower petals down the isle because they would blow away and make a mess. We did it anyway and picked them up afterwords against their permission. That ruling was a little overbearing of them. We got our deposit back anyway.

Again, I had an overall fine experience. My wedding was beautiful even though it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

We got married in Marh 31st 2018. The weather was PERFECT. The gardens were exquisite. No need for decorations here. Shymeka was so easy to work with and excellent with communication. The only thing I would change is there is no place for the bride to get ready or drop her stuff for the evening. I had to find a guard to let me in and out of the offices to get toiletries, etc. also, about half of the guests saw me before the ceremony. Still, I wouldn’t have picked any other place for the most special day of my life. We had an blast!!

We loved everything about our experience at the Botanical Gardens. We did our ceremony and reception at this venue, and it all turned out beautifully. They do many weddings a year and are on point, professional, and know what they are doing. Shimeyka was easy to work with and always responded quickly to my many questions. The ceremony, at the Westeria Arbor, was beautiful and easy to get to from the room that we got ready in. The ceremony, at the conservatory, was also beautiful. The venue had a coordinator on site that was easily available. The drawback from the venue is that they did not provide rentals, and we had to pay extra for the rentals. Also, because it is a city owned venue, there were a few extra restrictions such as no extra flower petals or open flames, but it was nothing we couldn't live without. We were very happy with the entire experience at the venue and loved our entire wedding weekend.

SA Botanical Gardens really made our wedding the special day it was! We were planning it from Northern Virginia so you might think that would make things a little frustrating but this was not the case with our beautiful venue! Shimeyka was our go to contact and she made the entire planning process as smooth as butter! She was very quick to respond to any and all of our questions, whether made by phone or email. She was ALWAYS so kind and so happy which was such a comfort to my stressed out wedding brain. She was genuinely interested in us and what our particular hopes and dreams were and she did the best to accommodate our quirky requests. Shimeyka was happy to offer us a list of recommended caterers, officiants, flowers, cake shops, and music options. We had a very small, lovely ceremony at the Amphitheater with a Flamenco guitarist and a wedding arch we made with Fiesta flowers. We arrived in TX a week before the wedding and scheduled a walk through with Shimeyka. She walked us around the entire gardens, so happily, pointing out places she thought would be great for photo ops! November was absolutely beautiful at the Gardens and we recommend the Amphitheater and other locations within to everyone looking for a perfect day to remember always. Thank you again Shimeyka and SABG! We'll never forget you. <3

We held our Annual Beaux Arts Ball in the new Family Adventure Garden. Being the very first event in the Family Adventure Garden, definitely had its challenges. But the Garden and their staff were extremely responsive in meeting the needs our of our event and we were very pleased with the outcome. Our event was a huge success--one that many of our guests still rave about to date! Yes, the space is beautiful during the day, but absolutely breathtaking to watch it transform from day to evening. Truly a warm and inviting venue with enchanting off the path spaces inviting guests to explore and experience. We highly recommend the Garden for any event!

Beautiful location for a May wedding - we were in the amphitheater and everything was set up exactly as they said it would be. Granted, I did have a woman working with me to help coordinate everything on the day of. Aztec Rentals (another vendor) provided cooling fans to keep guests comfortable as well as the chair and table rentals. Overall the Botanical Garden was flexible with pricing and I loved the location! Just beautiful!

The botanical Gardens is so beautiful. We couldn't have picked a better place. The people were so helpful, prices are better than fair. Would hold more events at the botanical gardens in the future.

A beautiful setting! It was tricky to figure out how to fit 40 guests into the Auld House, but in the end we did it! We were very happy with how it all turned out. We bought favors from the gift shop, and we were very pleased with the customer service there.

We had the ceremony and reception both at the Conservatory, the ceremony in front of the pond, me coming down the stairs that come from the outside of the conservatory and the reception in the covered area, all with the plants, the crystal tower and the sky as background, it was beautiful and everyone enjoyed it.

It is not a private venue so there are some restrictions to take into consideration, but it is manageable. The venue itself is a decoration so we did not need to get much to make it look as good as it looked, only small bases and little candles on the bar type tables and medium size bases on the dining tables.

Great place and most of our guest although residents of San Antonio, confessed that have never been there before and loved it.

Glamorized Simplicity

Having a tight budget, we were concerned about the costs associated with a Central Park wedding. Your transparent pricing and ability to work within our budget transformed our financial worries into a day we'll cherish forever, without breaking the bank. This location was beautiful and that's what makes it worth it. The staff was a little hard to work with, in particular with regards to lighting.
Overall a great experience though and the scenery more than made up for anything else.

The location is beautiful. The only thing we had issues with was unloading all the decorations at the Auld house for reception. They did not allow us to drive up to it, and when it's 90 degrees you are sweating before anything begins, also we asked to have 5 tables set up and they only set up 4 so we were short 6 chairs and a table at the reception. Embarrassing!

Ok, so I will start with the good. The SABOT is absolutely beautiful. The gardens is an absolutely perfect wedding venue. It is a good value, and when you rent it, you have access to the entire garden. The SABOT was the first place we looked at, and booked it that day. Shimeyka was very helpful on day one, and in the months to follow, she was quick to respond to our questions. We didn't really have any issues until the day before the wedding. We have arranged beforehand to bring in our wedding decorations the evening before the wedding, as we were planning everything on our own, and didn't want to worry about transporting these items the day of. We were told that we would have the Education Center reserved for the purpose of storing our items, a more than ample space. On the day of the rehearsal, with no prior notice given, we were told the Education Center had been reserved for an event, and we would have no place to store our items. After the staff argued with us for quite some time, the begrudgingly allowed us to store our items in their office spaces, but made extremely rude comments about the quantity of the items. WELL, had we had prior notice that the very large Education Center was reserved out from under us, a conversation could have happened to discuss the quantity and size of the items. After the items were unloaded, my helpers and wedding party were having a conversation outside of the office spaces to gather our thoughts, and they were rudely told to leave, as another event was scheduled for that evening. This is not the kind of stress any bride or groom should endure the day before their wedding, especially when they are spending more than a thousand dollars to hold an event somewhere. Fast forward to the wedding day, when we were getting ready in the Education Center, a staff member kept on locking the only restroom nearby for the bridal party to use. This happened at least eight times! Overall it's a beautiful venue with a sometimes rude staff.

The location is beautiful but it would have been nice to have one staff person designated to walk the guests to the location of the ceremony. Also it would have been nice to block off the area of ceremony for that one hour.

The pricing listed isn't accurate and they are unresponsive. even to calls. check the web sight to get the actual prices which are much much higher that advertised here.

The treatment of customers for a wedding was absurd and UNACCEPTABLE!
The groom AND family members were ALL stopped at admission at our scheduled entrance/ wedding time. After 15 min of standing/waiting for nothing, the groom and guests walk in since we had paid/reserved the time -that was being impeded on by making the groom and guests wait at the front desk, while being IGNORED by staff. Assuming check-in was successful, the bride entered in the side (the exit gate) because the groom was already in place for the wedding.
Fast forward to when our event is done so our group head towards the exit at 5:00pm. There were no staff walking the grounds, it seemed abandoned &we reached the exit at 5:01 it was LOCKED and there was LITERALLY NO ONE around. We were locked in the garden looking for an exit or someone FOR OVER 25 minutes! like MOST weddings, there's a reception that you need to get to. We were banging on the building before a woman FINALLY came to the door at about 5:30..only to NOT open the door to let us out! She was rude &yelled shortly at the groom through the glass "the gardens CLOSE AT 5" to which he says, "what are we supposed to do? the exit was ALREADY locked, we've been TRYING to leave for 30min with NO ONE around to let us out!!" They went back&forth through the glass and to all of our bewilderment she would NOT open the door to let us out! before the groom points out, "you expect our entire wedding party to stay locked in here? We paid to get married here, this is ridiculous" So she rudely opens the door treating us like trespassers!!
The SABG is positive/enjoyable for the community. I've personally enjoyed bird watching/horticulture classes, Shakespeare in the park, children's nights, but the way we were treated when someone finally realized there were people locked inside is UNPROFESSIONAL and very frightening for someone who lives in Alamo Heights and is an active part of the community.
