A fantastic option for Terps!

As Maryland alums, we couldn't have been happier with Riggs as our reception venue. We worked with Rhonda and Shannon and felt cared for every step of the way. The space is large and versatile with indoor and outdoor spots. We used the atrium, patio, and garden for cocktail hour and then moved to the ballroom for dinner and dancing. With COVID, we were able to spread out nicely, and still have an intimate feel. All of the communication with the team was timely and professional. The day-of, everything went off without a hitch. Testudo even made an appearance! A beautiful, meaningful venue with a great value! We are so grateful for the Riggs team!

Get married here!

Samuel Riggs Alumni Center was such an outstanding picturesque space. Rhonda Whyte and Brittany Pain were so amazing, patient and warm. This was Brittany's first wedding and she made sure that whatever we needed was provided. We could not tell that this was her first time taking the lead. Her warm and welcoming demeanor during the whole process of planning and day of was incredible. We couldn't ask for anything more. We couldn't have picked a better place to start our journey together.

Get married at the Riggs Center! Go Terps!

Our experience with the Samuel Riggs Alumni Center was a wonderful, stress-free, wedding experience!! Every time I had a question, something to add or alter, our coordinator from Riggs was quick to respond and SO helpful! We loved how we were able to have our wedding, cocktail hour, and reception all in one beautiful building. We had one small issue, our grooms suite wasn't ready the day of and we had to have them wait 20 minutes while they got the room ready. Other than that the over all experience was perfect. We wouldn't have picked to have our wedding any where else!!!

This venue is beautiful, and offers a lot of beautiful space...great for pictures. Our onsite coordinator Sienna was awesome. She was very easy to work with and we really appreciate her.

Awesome experience doing my wedding at the Riggs! Beautiful place that can accommodate any size wedding! Also, I would like to shout out Cassie who was our event coordinator for our wedding, she was so easy to work with, super helpful, and very patient with my wife and I, we couldn't have asked for a better person to help us that day! Overall my experience with the Riggs was outstanding and I would definitely do another party here in the near future!

I knew I wanted to use this venue a couple years prior to my wedding. I was a part of an event inside the stunning ballroom. This venue is not only aesthetically pleasing, it is extremely affordable with a great package compared to other local venues. I got so many compliments on both my event and the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni center. One of my guests even inquired about planning her 65th birthday there. In addition to my wedding, my baby shower was held here a year prior. If I need to plan another event, this venue would be my first choice AGAIN. The staff, specifically Sienna (Event Sales Coordinator) and Ali (Event Manager), were very professional and AMAZING to work with.

The Alumni Center was the perfect place to host our wedding. The staff was incredibly helpful and patient with our many requests for additional amenities. The price was quite reasonable given the extent of the space we were given: in addition to the ballroom segment, you also get the entire atrium, rotunda, and patio reserved for the entire 8 hours of the reservation. The spaces are open and so gorgeous, we didn't even need to decorate besides a few flowers. We easily fit our 100 guests in this space (garden for the ceremony, 1 ballroom segment for the reception) and could have fit a few dozen more. We couldn't recommend this space enough for your ceremony and reception.

The original style for our wedding venue was a unique space like a small museum with expose brick, well more like my style not the Groom, LOL! Due to our wedding size we had to look at ballroom style venues which was a blessing.

We were able to have our unique rustic glam style wedding because Riggs is a beautiful space for any wedding style. I was more excited to find there was some expose brick that became the backdrop for the photo booth area. All this to say, your wedding can be as creative as you like at Riggs from using the drop down screens or keeping it elegant with the tall clean white walls.

Our venue coordinator Cassandra N. Klemish was everything!!! She answered all emails and calls, she helped us stay on track, and she reassured us when things got crazy. She worked great with our wedding coordinators and vendors throughout the wedding process. If Cassandra was not available she made sure another Riggs coordinator would be able to help with our needs.

Lastly, visit Riggs amazing wedding open house to have a feel of the space and meet possible vendors for your wedding. We had a great time tasting treats, hearing music, and learning wedding tips.

Cassie was joy to work with. Anytime I emailed or called with a question/problem I never had to wait long for an answer or solution. I loved how flexible Cassie was in allowing me to come view the reception space on multiple occasion, so I knew my vision would come to life. When I saw how beautiful the place was from the first time I saw the blank canvas I was ecstatic. What made the moment even more exciting, was the joy on Cassie's face. She was just as happy as all of guest that this day has arrived. I would advise any bride looking for a blank canvas to make your wedding day dreams come true, Samuel Riggs is the place to go.

Awesome venue! Doesn't need a lot of decoration because it is really pretty on its own. The garden, the cocktail hour hallway and the reception hall are awesome! The package also includes uplighting in any color, we chose purple, and it really made a huge difference in how the reception hall looked. Our coordinator was Rhea, and she was the best. She answered my million questions over email super quick and was there the day of to make sure everything went smoothly. I would really recommend this venue, especially if you are an UMD alumni. Parking was also not an issue, Lot1 and LotZ are right across from the building and they have open parking on weekends.

I am so very pleased to provide this review for the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center. After my very first appointment to determine if I wanted to work with Riggs, I felt at ease by the wonderful staff. Additionally, I fell head over heels for the venue. The white marble floors, the spacious reception and ceremony sites, high ceilings, and not to mention the beautiful hall that makes a gorgeous backdrop for a cocktail hour. Believe me, I am picky, so I went through painstaking measures to ensure that the team at Riggs knew what I expected and they delivered. Angela D, my Event Manager set meetings that accommodated my work schedule on at least two occasions to allow me to see and tour the venue with my wedding planner. These meetings took place after her normal working hours. The night before the wedding, we conducted the wedding rehearsal, and we needed to unload boxes of wedding decorations. I remember that Angela D. was literally at the door waiting for our arrival and immediately began to help us unload what had to be about 10 boxes! I was super impressed by that because I had no expectation that she would help in that manner. Additionally, I needed to make edits to my slideshow the night before the wedding and once again, Angela waited up late at night to receive the new slideshow from me and to test it before wedding day. All of the AV equipment worked as planned, the facilities were spotless, coupled with the convenient location & free parking for my guests - I could not have asked anything more. I know that the event managers work with a lot of customers /weddings, but I didn't feel like I was another customer in an assembly line. Angela D. took good care of my requests and needs, was extremely patient, accommodating and responsive - even to early morning and late night emails. Last, Angela D worked EXTREMELY well with my wedding planner and this is truly the reason for such a flawlessly executed wedding of my dreams! Thanks Riggs & Angela! I will miss you!

My now husband and I had an amazing experience working with this venue. From our initial contact and tour with Sienna, to our dealings with Cassie, our coordinator, we were treated with the utmost kindness and respect. Any question that we or our wedding planner posed was answered in record time. Any apprehensions that we may have had were easily tackled and our wedding went off without a hitch. We were met with nothing but smiling faces and pure enthusiasm during our wedding rehearsal and the day of the wedding. Guests couldn't stop talking about the all inclusiveness of the venue. We are more than happy with our choice and wouldn't change a thing. Thank you to all the staff of Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center for your hard work and dedication.

I love UMD!! Terp pride forever!! So, it only made sense that I host our wedding here. Ali and Sienna were very professional, sweet and knowledgeable! Our wedding was a huge success (even though it rained). The guests loved it and we loved it even more! Thank you Ali and Sienna!

We fell in love with Riggs as soon as we saw it. The marble entry way and cocktail area space was really unique and the ballroom was beautiful. We wanted a traditional space with a modern feel, and we found exactly that here. The room was the perfect neutral background for our metallic winter wedding. I was worried about finding a space to fit our 230 guests, but we fit in 2/3 of the ballroom with no issues. Our sales rep and coordinator contact were both very accommodating and quick to respond to our questions. Rhea, our coordinator, also helped us figure out how to bring my favorite champagne for the wedding. Some of my younger cousins even loved it so much they are also planning on using it for their weddings!

From the first email to the last dance the ladies were great. My event manager was Cassie, she was extremely responsive and flexible with anything that we needed. The overall value of the package was great. It was hard to find a venue that offers the tables, chairs, and up-lighting all in one package. Cassie an the entire team at the Riggs Alumni Center were friendly and easy to work with. Choosing them was definitely one of the best decisions made for our wedding.

I had the privilege of working alongside Cassie and Ali for my wedding! I held my ceremony in 1/3 of the ballroom and reception in 2/3. Cocktails were held out in the marble hallway, it was perfect! Cassie and Ali put all my nerves to rest and I was completely relaxed because I knew they had everything under control! I would host several more events at Riggs moving forward! The staff was excellent, easy to work with and great customer service and the venue was clean, elegant and convenient.

The Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center on the University of Maryland campus is an absolute hidden gem for anyone looking to hold an extravagant and classy wedding or event. When looking at other locations, my wife and I were unimpressed with the standard hotels and banquet halls with minimal guidance and high minimums. However, one step into the Riggs Center and our wedding dreams came true. When choosing the Riggs Center, you're not only obtaining a location, but full event guidance. Specifically Cassie Klemish was outstanding to work with, and made our dreams a reality. Her impeccable responsiveness and genuine care for ensuring our event went on without a hitch made our day priceless. She even went out of her way to ensure a marching band competition that was being held at the nearby stadium did not pose an inconvenience to our day and guests. We'd highly recommend the Riggs Center to our friends and family, and no lie the day after our wedding received inquiries from them on hosting their next event. Thank you Cassie and the Riggs Center for making our day truly special and one we will never forget!

This venue is by far the best in the area. I researched over 25 venues to host our wedding of 160 guests, and Riggs definitely fit the bill. They allow you the flexibility to choose from over 20 preferred caterers unlike other venues that may only have 3-5 options. There's plenty of space to host a cocktail hour in the hallway area and guests are able to easily transition to the reception area that is tailored to your capacity needs. Additionally, the bridal suite was ideal for me and my bridesmaids to relax in prior to the recepetion, and overall, they are priced fairly reasonable compared to others. Cassie was absolutely a pleasure to work with and our special day was absolutely amazing!

This was a beautiful and spacious facility with plenty of parking for our guests. There is a beautiful garden that comes with the package, as well as two bridal suites. Rhea was an amazing venue coordinator and was very helpful during the planning process and the day of the wedding. I would highly recommend this venue.

The Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center is an AMAZING wedding venue. From the first visit we knew that we had to have our wedding there. The Riggs family are responses very quickly to all questions asked. They worked very nicely with not only us but all of our other vendors as well. The Riggs family is very responsiveness in all of your questions and needs. You will always feel like your are their first priority. The venue itself is beautiful. We would definitely recommend this venue to other for any of their events. We will definitely consider Riggs in the future for event place. Thank you Riggs for making our wedding a fairytale.

We met as students at UMD so we knew we wanted our wedding to take place on campus and the Alumni Center was the perfect place. They had a lot of options and price ranges and we were able to select the one that was right for us. We had an intimate wedding, and we were able to select just the right size of rooms and the most appropriate ones. Our wedding was during the day and we had our reception/lunch at the Rever Hall, which has big windows, so we had lots of sunlight entering the room and view of campus. This made our wedding even more beautiful. Rhea was able to accommodate all our preferences and help us make our venue just the way we liked it.

My husband and I had our wedding at the Alumni Center on the 22nd of November. It was a very intimate ceremony with only 25 guests. We had the ceremony in the Rotunda and it was perfect. We had our dinner right down the hall and both had suites to get ready in with our families. The day was just what we wanted and cannot thank the staff at the Alumni Center enough. They were extremely professional, helpful, responsive and took care of every last question and detail to ensure we did not have to worry about anything. I would definitely recommend using this venue for anyone considering having their wedding around the DMV area.

Best day ever!!!!! Riggs Alumni Center was gorgeous and incredibly accommodating (guests not related to me confirmed this, so it is not delusional). From the first day that I went to look at the venue, I knew it was the perfect place. Everyone we worked with was awesome and super helpful; they even recommended our caterer to us and the food was spectacular. Rhea was our coordinator- she was very nice and organized and I felt that she really wanted to help make the day special. Even when I fell apart the last week and forgot to pay (!) she was so sweet about it. I recommend this site to anyone that is considering it!

Honestly one of the best choices we made in regards to our wedding. The venue was beautiful and the level of service we received exceeded our expectations. We'd choose them again in a heartbeat (not that we're looking to have another wedding...lol)

We just got married at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center, we held both the ceremony and reception there. And the overall experience was fantastic. We worked with Cassie and Rhea, both of which are professional and nice. They were able to satisfy our needs as much as possible. We couldn't have asked for a better venue! Despite rain keeping us from having an outdoor ceremony, everything went smoothly with the back-up indoor plan! We loved working with Cassie from the Alumni Center.

The Riggs Alumni Center was fantastic as a wedding venue. The staff (we were fortunate enough to work with Cassie K.) was incredibly helpful throughout the process. The day of our wedding (which we had hoped to hold in Moxley Garden's) the forecast was calling for rain. Cassie gave us as late as possible to make a decision about whether or not we would keep the ceremony outside or move into a separate section of the ballroom. Despite having to move the ceremony indoors, everything was still perfect. Our guests were very impressed with the staffs professionalism and how beautiful the venue is. Thank you very much to the Riggs staff for everything.

We just had a wedding at Riggs this past weekend and we absolutely loved it! Everything was exactly what I imagined. Angela was great, she was very helpful throughout the day and made everything stress free for me. She was very accommodating and flexible throughout the wedding planning process. The only thing that was difficult for our guests is that Riggs does not have a physical address so we had to provide very specific directions. Overall, the venue was beautiful, the staff was great and I would recommend Riggs to everyone!

Consider the Samuel Riggs Alumnae Center!It's literally everything you would want in a venue Beautiful, wonderful staff &so many options! I got married here on 8/22/14 &even though I'm on honeymoon having a ball I couldn't wait to get back to do my review. 1st contact was Angela who's the AD &she set the tone. Angela was very prompt with communication &this was 1 yr out. I swear I never waited longer than 5 minutes for a response lol. I later was assigned Cassie as my event coordinator, I'm sure everyone is great here but if you get her consider yourself EXTREMELY LUCKY. I had some insane requests for the reception & ceremony &Cassie went above &beyond to make sure they all were met. Even when I was being ridiculous (which in hind sight was often lol) Cassie was always supportive of my vision&even found us a rehearsal dinner location;great customer service. I was dead set on having an outdoor ceremony. They usually make the weather call 24 hours in advance. But Cassie knew how bad I wanted outside. It poured down raining multiple times the day of my wedding. When I got to campus sun was out & I was told staff had dried off the seats twice bc of the rain. We used the hallway for cocktail hour& ballroom for reception. this venue you can do indoor &outdoor &have everything in 3 different areas, which are all extremely beautiful. With the riggs you get so much which make your event so much better up lighting, you can add gobo, they have lounge, chivari chairs, the list goes on. Why go somewhere else when you can have a venue that has everything you need right there? The venue is on the campus of university of Maryland, but honestly it's so beautiful even if you aren't a Terp you will still LOVE it, it's just that beautiful. The Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center was the PERFECT venue for our fairy tale wedding reception. From the gorgeous rotunda to the sparkling Rever Hall of Fame - there is not a bad spot in the building. Our reception of 125 people fit perfectly into 2/3 of Orem Hall. The staff provided outstanding service. Our wedding contact, Cassie, was easy to work with and provided exemplary advice and service. The staff at Riggs assisted with uplighting and other setup needs. The Moxley Gardens was the perfect site for wedding guests to gather for cocktail hour, as well as a beautiful site for wedding photos in the late afternoon.

Cassie with Samuel Riggs, did an amazing job! She worked really well with my coordinator Shawn Gray from Trebella Events. She was able to provide exceptional services including floor plans to help with our wedding planning. And totally was able to answer questions in a timely manner. She was also extremely accommodating with her hours to make sure my husband and I were able to attend meetings. The day of the wedding, she was right by my side supporting me! She is dependable, customer service oriented, loyal, and a hard worker. As a coordinator myself, she is totally a professional and can tackle any challenge! My wedding was fabulous because she was part of the Team!

I would totally recommend this venue and use again if I had to redo everything all over. The staff was amazing. I worked closely with Cassie Klemish, who is AMAZING. While Cassie was out (for about 2 weeks) the other staff members were just as helpful and responsive. I truly felt like they all cared and wanted to make my day special. Words cannot express how appreciative I am towards all the staff and again, I highly recommend this beautiful venue!

The Riggs Alumni Center was a fabulous venue for my daughter's wedding. The facility was beautifully decorated and arranged so that all of our guests were seated comfortably with plenty of room but close enough and in such a way as to create a great party atmosphere. Each of the rooms available to us was perfect for the particular celebration at hand. Our event manager, Jeffrey Sansouci was very helpful throughout the planning process and a pleasure to work with. All of our vendors worked seamlessly with the Riggs staff and requirements. We may be a bit biased as UMD Alumni but can still easily say that this is a wonderful venue for any wedding.

The Riggs Center was PHENOMENAL! Not only is the venue gorgeous but their staff is nothing short of amazing. We were first sent to this venue for our January 2014 nuptials by our wedding planner (Covenant Weddings) since we were looking to do the ceremony & reception in the same location. Once we visited, we fell in love. We visited other venues for comparison and none of them even came close. Once booked, I was in constant contact with their staff (Cassie, Jessica, and Chelsea just to name a few) in the months leading up to our event and every request we made was filled or accommodated in some way. Every time I called or sent an email (which was quite a bit!) I got a very prompt response. On the day of, Cassie was there to keep everything organized and help all of our other vendors. We were initially concerned with having to use one of their selected caterers but the Riggs staff & our planner all suggested Putting on the Ritz who turned out to be AWESOME. An added benefit of using their folks though is that our vendors were familiar with the site & staff so everything went smoothly. The venue turned out to be easy to find as well- it is at the far end of campus near University Blvd. All of our guests stayed at the Marriott which was less than 5 minutes away. There is a parking lot adjacent to the building so parking wasn't an issue. We also did an open bar (bought liquor thru venue & caterer supplied bartender). It was a huge hit! Overall, the price turned out to be the best value for us once we compared what was included (dance floor, uplighting, chairs & tables, extra changing rooms, etc.) and for us it was worth every penny. Be sure to ask about discounts for non-Saturdays, out of season, and check their website for open dates that are offered on short notice at a reduced rate. All in all, I can't say enough great things about this place. I had an awesome time at my wedding & would HIGHLY recommend the Riggs Center to anyone looking for a total package venue.

Our wedding at the Samuel Riggs center was amazing. Angela was a pleasure to work with. She was helpful in seeing that all our requests were met. She was very responsive and flexible in making sure we were happy. The space is amazing and the added spaces that we were able to use made everything just beautiful. We had an amazing wedding and we are still getting compliments on how nice it was at the Riggs center. I would love to hold another event at the Riggs Center because the space is just wonderful. Our guests loved that we had so much space and the transition from ceremony, cocktail hour and to the reception was perfect. I highlyrecommend the Riggs Center!!!

We couldn’t have been happier with our choice to hold our wedding and reception at the Riggs Center. Both the wedding and reception spaces were set up beautifully, and our event coordinator Angela Dimopoulos was amazingly helpful. She went above and beyond in accommodating several special requests, and reworked the room layout several times as our plans changed. We know that Angela’s efforts were a large reason our wedding went so smoothly, and she was really easy to work with. Importantly, she made it all happen while staying nearly invisible, and we are grateful that the whole process was worry-free. Angela helped make our wedding truly special, and we can’t thank her enough.

Cassie was extremely responsive and flexible in helping us plan our reception at the Samuel Riggs. She was easy to work with and assisted the other vendors the day of our wedding. Samuel Rigss is a gorgeous venue to have a wedding reception. Guests enjoyed taking pictures in the Moxlery Gardens. If you are a UMD alumni you could even have Testudo make a guest appearance like we did. We highly would recommend Cassie as an event coordinator and the Samuel Riggs venue.

We found Angela extremely helpful and efficient while planning our event. She always responded to our inquiries immediately for the planning and on the day of our event. The Riggs Alumni Center is a beautiful space for celebrations and we were happy to introduce it to friends who were Maryland alums but had never been to the Center.

I absolutely loved my venue. They were absolutely accommodating with my request and they assisted in every way possible down to the very last detail. The staff was amazing and Jeff was awesome too. We went to a few open houses and never felt pressured to do anything we didn't want to. The lighting was beautiful and I was completely overwhelmed with joy when I saw the ceremony room and reception room! I would most definitely recommend this venue.

I honestly was a little hesitant having our wedding at our Alma Mater but after working with Cassie and seeing how WONDERFUL, MAGICAL, and AMAZING it turned out, I realized I wouldn't have had it any other way. She was the absolute best when it came to being flexible, helping me to realize my vision, and making sure the day ran smoothly. I was kind of sad when I didn't see her face much the day of the wedding but it was because I felt so close to her throughout the whole planning process. The Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center provided us with such a great venue, the outside Moxley Garden and Banguet Hall were truly beautiful and so fitting for us at such an amazing cost!

Our wedding at The Riggs Alumni Center was amazing! Jeffrey was so helpful and willing to deal with my many, many requests. For our wedding we mixed Indian and American customs, so it was necessary for us to have a venue that was flexible and able to accommodate both cultures. Everyone was happy! We had the ceremony on the Legacy Plaza and the reception in the Alumni Hall. Both spaces were perfect for what we wanted. Everyone loved that the Alumni Hall was so wide open and airy and there were plenty of bathrooms for our 240 guests. I highly recommend working with the Riggs Center - ask for Jeffrey!

We had an excellent experience with the staff at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center. We worked with our coordinator, Jeff and he was very professional and helpful in making our day more beautiful. He was very responsive in answering any questions I had about the set up of the ceremony. I have to admit I was a bit nervous about how everything would look when it came to chairs setup in the Gardens. He assured me that it would look beautiful. I was totally happy with how everything turned out. I highly recommend anyone to use the Moxley Gardens at the Samuel Riggs Center as their wedding ceremony site.

Ms. Heather Gleason, our Event Coordinator was really helpful throughout the event planning phase and on the day of the event. My husband Travis and I recently held our wedding reception here at the Samuel Riggs Alumni center and everything was GREAT!!!! Jessica was beyond helpful! She was very professional and so sweet, any last minute changes I made she took care of with ease. We hosted our Wedding here and it was absolutely fabulous. The space was arranged exactly as planned, the evening went even better than planned and everything was gorgeous. I was beyond pleased. Our guest transportation threw the event off schedule and our event planner, Angela, handled everything with ease with no additional stress to myself or my husband. Throughout the planning Angela was so helpful and always beyond prompt. My guests all had a great time and rave about the event site. We used the Moxely Gardens and uplighting, which I would 100% recommend!

Jeffrey did an outstanding job for our wedding. He helped us work through the difficulties in planning our 400 guest wedding! Whenever we had a question via email or phone, Jeffrey made himself available to answer questions or brainstorm with us. It was no easy task to combine ideas of Nigerian and American cultures, with a mix of architecture, all under the theme "At Home with Us". With Jeffrey's expertise, the Alumni Center became the perfect venue for our dream wedding. We recommend Jeffrey and the Alumni Center to all those planning a dream wedding and indeed all events!

Perfect location for my July 14th wedding reception! I was 100% satisfied with the facility and my coordinator, Jeff Sansouci. As an art teacher, I wanted to make most of the decor myself and the Riggs Center was accommodating and created the perfect backdrop to display my creativity. The facility is stunning.. clean, attractive architecture, and I loved the big rotunda the guests walked into as they arrived. The cocktail hall was spacious and the Riggs Center allowed me to put tables outside so my guests could mingle outdoors and walk through the gardens. Great photo opportunity! I used two parts of the ballroom to accommodate 170 guests. I had 22 round tables and there was plenty of room to walk in between them. My purple up-lighting really set the mood of the room, complimenting my purple/magenta color scheme. The ocular window in the ballroom was really neat and looks spectacular in the background of our photos. Unlike other reception venues, the colors in the ballroom are neutral which provided endless possibilities with colors/decor decisions. We took advantage of their audio/visual equipment and showed a slideshow for our guests to enjoy towards the end of dinner on the two large projector screens.

As the limo pulled up, we were dropped off right outside the bridal suites, far enough away from the guests at cocktail hour. The rooms gave us privacy as we freshened up for the grand entrance. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone planning an important event. Our wedding day was perfect and our guests were so impressed with the Riggs Center!

Sam riggs is one the best venues in the DMV area. We were glad we chose them. THey had their list of preferred caterer but they allowed us to bring an outside caterer we really wanted but on one condition: to have one of their preferred caterer serve the food. Everything turned out great!!!! It was worth every single penny!! Sherry our event coordinator was a true blessing to us...also thanks to angela for being flexible with us from the beginning until the end....

Jessica Roberts at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center was a fantastic hostess for our Maryland Wedding Professionals Association May meeting. She designed a beautiful space with luxury linens, accent lighting, etc. The venue was beautiful, comfortable, and very accommodating. We were surprised with all the venue had access to and what was included in their offerings. We'd highly recommend this venue for your next event.

We had the perfect wedding at the perfect location, could not have asked for a better support staff who were flexible, interactive throughout the time the location was booked. The day went perfectly without any hiccups. I would thoroughly recommend this venue and our vendor to anyone:-)

This is the perfect venue! I searched for months for a venue that would provide ceremony and reception services. My husband and I met at Maryland and graduated from Maryland in 2005 and when my father suggested the Alumni Center, we visited and immediately fell in love with the venue. It is beautiful and even more so with the bells and whistles provided by the caterer, florist and lighting company on the big day! The staff at the Alumni center couldn't be more wonderful. There was actually a second staff member the day of my wedding and it was extremely comforting to know that they were willing to go above and beyond on our special day!! I would definitely recommend newly engaged couples, especially with ties to Maryland, to check our the Alumni Center. It is gorgeous and the staff is excellent!!

Working with the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center made wedding planning easy! Angela was very responsive and flexible, even when I had to make last minute changes. She always answered all my questions and was very professional the day of. The space looked beautiful on the day of, and she was there to make sure everything and everyone was right where it was supposed to be. I would recommend the Alumni Center to anyone who wants to get married in a beautiful and spacious place that has an extremely helpful staff!

We first worked with Dakia & then with Angela. They made everything easy from every last detail!!! Our Reception was everything we wanted it to be!The Alumni Center is the perfect place for wedding receptions. All of our pictures were so elegant. I would recommend the Riggs Center to every bride!

The Riggs Alumni Center was a great venue for our wedding reception this past July! The staff is very professional and attentive and the venue is beautiful! Our guests were very impressed with the space and it was very convenient being located close to the beltway.

I would definitely recommend the Riggs Alumni Center to other brides!

We had our wedding reception at the Samuel Riggs Alumni Center and it was PERFECT! From day 1, Angela was so helpful in answering questions (and immediately) about anything and everything! She let us see the space numerous times just so we could be sure it was "the one". Since no one had an event planned the day before our wedding she let us in early to do the set up which was really helpful. On the day of everything ran smoothly and she did everything she could to assist. The best part was we used the garden area for cocktail hour instead of the hall and people couldn't stop talking about it for days! It was beautiful and we had perfect weather for it. Everything turned out great and we couldn't be happier!

We wanted to personally thank you for making our day special. We really appreciate that you were willing to help us out on a lot of things including working with our schedule for the rehearsal (although that was a game night) and being creative with the place card setting (which I mistakenly left at home). Although it was not expected of you to help with those issues, we are grateful that you were there to do so.

The event staff here is GREAT!!!!!! We worked with Dakia Kelly Adams, she was always responsive, she took notes, and she knew her place. She asked all the right questions, she probed to see what we wanted. She didn't try to force her ideas on us, however, she did offer suggestions to make the day better. She answers all calls and emails very promptly. She kept a smile throughout the whole process. Even when we went back and forth on things she was there to make the transition smooth.....

THe event space was lovely, we got married in the garden which was beautiful. There was no need for decorations which also saved us money. THe garden decorated itself, and the staff at MD set it up butifully. It comfortably held 230 people. The reception area was marvelous. The walls are such that it will work with any color scheme. If you have lighting this is the perfect location.....We were pleased with everything. If we were to do it all again this would be the place, and we would work with Dakia Kelly Adams.

We are so happy with how everything went, it was absolutely perfect! It was so special for us to be able to have both our ceremony and our reception on campus at our alma mater, where we first met. The venue is so gorgeous, it is such a beautiful backdrop for photos! We got so many compliments on how beautiful the Alumni Center was, especially from our fellow alumni (who hadn't seen it, as it was built after we graduated in 2004). Everyone was very impressed!
Dakia was extremely professional and pleasant to work with. She was very responsive and patient, both throughout the planning process and on the day of our wedding. It's great to have the person you've worked with all along be your day-of contact. Also, because Riggs uses required caterers, everything flows very smoothly because the caterer and the Riggs staff are familiar with each other and the venue. The event can get a little pricey, compared to other venues, because the Alumni Association is responsible for providing the alcohol, so I feel like we paid more than if we had the event somewhere else, but for us, the venue was so special that it did not matter to us. And, I would say that it is worth any premium you may pay at Riggs to have the entire building to yourself the day of your event - to not have other events sharing the bathroom, for example, or really ANY of the facilities (the beautiful rotunda, the gardens, etc.) made our event much more intimate and classy.
One lesson learned, if you are considering having your reception here - I would strongly recommend getting a lighting vendor. I didn't realize until too late in the planning process that we would have to get outside lighting vendors, and I did not like how bright the room remained during the dancing part of the evening - it was basically the same lighting that we had throughout dinner. But, that is a small issue to an otherwise perfect day!
I think that Riggs is unmatched for those that want to have their entire wedding on campus/in College Park (our ceremony was in Memorial Chapel on campus). I would certainly recommend the Alumni Center to anyone planning any event, especially a wedding!

Excellent! Ms. Roberts did a wonderful job! Our hopes were to use the garden for our ceremony, but weather did not cooperate. Staff at Riggs would not let the day be any less special and took care of all our needs. Being a UMD Alum, I guess I should not expect anything less, but their commitment to service was second to none. The facility is absolutely gorgeous, AND affordable!

The Alumni Center was an amazing venue that all of our guests raved over. A large glassed atrium started the evening with cocktails, followed by a spacious room with a more than ample dance floor to celebrate the event. Our band was pleased with the space and stage provided and our caterer said the event coordinator was fantastic to work with and the facility made it a pleasure to cook and serve. We were always able to get in touch with our event coordinator and she had great ideas to supplement ours. They were extremely professional, hard working, pleasant, fun and engaging. We would book a future event here without hesitation.

I recently held my reception at the Riggs Alumni Center. As UMD graduates, we were immediately attracted to the venue because of the meaning behind it for both my husband and I. With that, the venue itself is beautiful and is like a blank slate for whatever decorations you want. The uplighting included in the package was a definite bonus. We worked with Rhea throughout the process and she was fantastic! Rhea was so quick to respond to questions and helped the night of the wedding. We would not have changed a thing about our event!

Jessica Roberts was our coordinator. She was very professional and easy to work with. I received comments from members of the wedding party on how she quickly resolved the minor issues we had. The venue is beautiful! The price includes uplighting, tables, chivari chairs, audio/visual equipment, and the garden. We didn't want our guests travelling far from the ceremony to the reception and held our ceremony at the Memorial Chapel located on campus. They have a list of preferred caterers and after meeting with several of them, we decided to work with Zeffert and Gold (food was amazing!). This is definitely a venue worth taking into consideration.

My big day was none other than the storm of the decade 12/19/09 and the staff especially the coordinator working in concert with the caterer made my day extra special for my husband and I. We were blanketed with snow and very beautiful people celebrating our special day. The staff was tops for braving the weather and putting their special touches to the day. I would surely plan an event at this venue again. It was beautiful nestled in the snow..

Cassie provided 5 star service from beginning to end. She was not only attentive & responsive to my every need but the needs of my wedding party during the rehearsal and my actual wedding. The venue was already beautiful but after the decorations were in place it was even more beautiful. I would highly recommend Samuel Riggs Alumni Center to all of my Friends and Family. Riggs was a fantastic venue for our wedding. Angela was awesome to work with and was very flexible, professional and responded promptly to any questions or concerns. They accommodated our additional needs to ensure that we could easily incorporate our culture and ethnic wedding requests into the package. The uplighting was beautiful, all song choices and slide shows we had worked perfectly and Angela was very flexible with our set up time which ensured that there were no delays on the wedding day in getting both the ceremony and reception started.

The staff at the Riggs Center (we worked with Cassie) made stuff really easy. The venue itself is fantastic, with lots of space and exactly the kind of setting you want for a good party. But the people there do a great job to work with you to make it all go well. Lots of friends have commented as to how much fun they had there.

Alumni center is a gorgeous venue with lots of options and flexibility! My husband and I were originally thinking of a garden wedding (using the Moxley garden) if the flowers bloomed, but because the weather has been pretty fickle lately, we suggested Angela, who is the assistant manager of the venue, if we can use the rotunda for our ceremony. Even though no previous ceremonies were done in the rotunda, Angela went forward with our suggestion. She was even willing to let us play around with the chairs to see how many guests would fit in the venue. When I finally had a chance to glance over the rotunda on my wedding day, I was in shock because the venue was absolutely stunning with all the chairs set up in place. Angela also placed uplightings behind the podium, which made the rotunda even more gorgeous. Angela was also very flexible and patient with us, even all throught million changes that we made a week before the wedding, and I really appreciate her for all the work that she's put into our wedding. Although the venue was more on the pricey side, I feel that it was definitely worth the money! I would wholeheartedly recommend this venue to any engaged couples!

Our wedding at Riggs turned out great. Cassie was great at answering our questions and accommodating our needs. Our ceremony was outdoors in the garden, and the cocktail hour and reception were indoors. Everything was great!
