I was having a tough time finding a catering company that was reasonably priced but still high quality for my micro wedding then I found salt house. I cannot recommend Brittany and team enough. My guests raved about the food and working with them beforehand was easy too! They were beyond accommodating even when I kept changing my mind on things. We felt it was well worth the investment. We were fortunate enough to have Salthouse Catering for our wedding day and we cannot say enough good things about this team. From start to finish, everything was absolutely exceptional and truly helped make our event unforgettable.
The food was incredible and our guests are still talking about it, especially the mac and cheese, which was a standout favorite and honestly unforgettable. Jacqueline deserves a very special mention. She was phenomenal throughout the entire process from the first day I called up until the wedding day. She was organized, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure everything went perfectly. She went above and beyond in every way and made the whole experience feel effortless on our end. The service overall was flawless. The staff was professional, kind, and incredibly efficient, and everything flowed seamlessly throughout the event. We absolutely loved working with Salthouse Catering. From the very beginning, Jacqueline was amazing — so easy to work with and made the entire planning process feel simple and stress-free. On the wedding day everything ran perfectly. The food was incredible — our guests are still talking about it weeks later. Jacqueline even made sure to bring my husband and I a plate of the passed cocktails hour appetizers, which was such a thoughtful touch and something she didn’t have to do. We could not say enough amazing things about Salthouse Catering and Mark Sahara. They catered our wedding on November 22, 2025 at the Island House, and from the very beginning, Mark was nothing but communicative, thorough, and incredibly supportive. He was always prompt, walked us through every option imaginable, and truly made us feel confident in our choices once we finalized our menu.
The food was absolutely out of this world. We received so many compliments from our guests, and it was one of the most talked-about parts of our day. Mark and his team executed everything flawlessly, and we genuinely couldn’t have done it without them.
Mark truly held our hands throughout the entire process and always made sure we were happy with our selections. He never once got frustrated with our countless questions and always made us feel like our wedding was just as important to him as it was to us.

For our wedding, we wanted to share the delicious, southern style cooking of Charleston with our family and friends. The menu options available were abundant, serving our own style as well as catering to those guests with food allergies/exceptions. Our guests enjoyed a variety of food consisting of seafood, meat and veggie options, having nothing but great things to say. Our main contact was Jacqueline, whom was quick to answer phone calls and emails as well as flexible when it came to putting the finishing touches on numbers during the last few weeks of planning. She took the time to go over multiple options, gave insightful suggestions and advice for our passed horderves, stations and bar service.
One piece of advise. Be prepared to go through ordering/providing supplies such as tables, linens, glassware, plates and cutlery in addition to the cost of food and bev. Salthouse can also aid in the process of renting these items, but they are not included. Overall, the food and service was outstanding and very much recommended.Salthouse Catering's reply:

Salthouse completely blew us away for our October wedding. They created a completely custom family style meal and so elegantly served and set up our outdoor dinner. The serving team was attentive and professional day of, and the chef even made our dog dinner. Jacqueline and the team from start to finish helped us curate a unique menu, and offered expert tips to make everything so seamless. From special welcome drinks to elevated southern appetizers, a gorgeous raw bar, and French fries as guests departed, everyone said it was the best wedding meal they ever had. My mother worked in the culinary industry growing up, so I always had an appreciation for food and absolutely love going out to dinner, trying new restaurants, and cooking myself. For me, one of the most important things for our wedding day was the food. I think it is actually really difficult to deliver great wedding food because it is hard to cook for that many people all at once. However, Salthouse exceeded my expectations!
I was choosing between two caterers in the Charleston area, but Salthouse was the most responsive, organized, timely, and helpful so it was an easy decision in the end. We worked with Jacqueline throughout the planning process, and she was amazing! She gave great recommendations for our tasting selections. She worked with us to deliver exactly what we wanted from the food perspective but also from the design/presentation angle. She was incredibly responsive and quickly answered all my questions via email or phone.
Numerous guests complimented the food! Everyone loved the raw bar, and the purple smashed potatoes were a hit! For cocktail hour, we personally loved the Watermelon Canape (perfect for the summer heat!) and the Chicken Taco. For entrees, we did the Salthouse Crabcakes and the Strip Loin - both were so good! One of my favorite parts of the evening was the late night snacks we chose - Walking Taco (taco toppings in a Fritos bag) and a Fried Chicken Biscuit. Our guests raved about these for weeks!

What an amazing experience we had with Salthouse! We used Salthouse to cater our wedding and they exceeded our expeditions by a long shot. Three months later and we still have wedding guests tell us it’s best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. We worked with Jacqueline who is the absolute BEST! Not only does she have an amazing team of professionals that she works with, but she went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our day. We worked with Salthouse for our wedding at Alhambra Hall. Jacqueline French was our main point of contact and she was awesome! Throughout the planning process she was extremely prompt with communications and after our tasting there was no doubt in our minds about selecting them for our wedding reception. We also appreciated that they were familiar with our venue since it does not have a full kitchen. We felt confident in their plan to bring a mobile kitchen and the day of I honestly would have never known! The food, the staff, and the service thoroughly exceeded our expectations. My #1 item when planning our wedding was to have incredible and memorable food, especially since the majority of our guests were coming from out of town. We heard rave reviews throughout the night, and even two months later are still hearing compliments about the food at our wedding. We so appreciate Salthouse's professionalism and culinary talent. It was also a nice surprise to receive a box of mini desserts after our wedding because we did not have a chance to have any the night of! We definitely recommend Salthouse to anyone looking for amazing food for their wedding! -

Salthouse helped make our vegan wedding dreams come true! The food was absolutely delicious and Vincenzo and the team really went above and beyond to help us plan, taste and serve really amazing food at both our rehearsal and wedding reception. They were extremely accommodating for our request for fully plant-based meals and we served dishes including buffalo cauliflower bites, white bean meatballs, eggplant parmesan, Impossible burger sliders, teriyaki mushroom skewers and penne a la vodka. Salthouse was was absolutely fabulous! They went above and beyond! We had a last minute need for a brunch, and Salthouse exceeded our expectations, by far! They treated our small event like a million-dollar event. Vincenzo, the Sales Manager, was extremely professional and the communication was FABULOUS!! There was never a moment that I did not know what was going on. Karen arrived at the venue an hour early to be sure she was on time and was very organized. Vince and his team at Salthouse are the best! Our food was not only some of the most delicious food I have had, but the staff was courteous and friendly as well. The entire planning process from the initial consult to the tasting to the big day on 11/7/20 was absolutely wonderful. They were accommodating and thorough, and made the planning process enjoyable. Our guests could not stop raving about the food, and we are definitely planning on booking them for future events! I told my now husband that one of the things I was looking forward to the most at our reception was getting to eat Salthouse again. We had the most wonderful experience working with Vince and the entire Salthouse team! Vince was so responsive, thorough, and professional in the many conversations we had together! He made the entire process easy. He was so organized and honest and did everything they could to make sure our event ran smoothly and safely during covid.
The food and service on our wedding day was phenomenal!!! Our guests are still can’t talking about the food! Vince recommended stations for our needs and it was so much fun! Salt House is hands down the best caterer in Charleston. Everyone at my wedding reception was raving about how amazing the food was, many said it was the best tasting food they ever had at a wedding. Having good food at the wedding was a must for my Dad (who was paying the bill) and Salt House did not disappoint him! Vincenzo is very responsive and easy to work with. They will customize things for you and work around food allergies. My wedding had to be postponed for 6 months due to the pandemic so there were soooo many changes to be made and Vincenzo handled everything with ease. Salt House also catered the Brunch I had the next day for all my out of town guests. If you are a foodie like we are then you should definitely give Salt House a try, you will not be disappointed!!!! -

I had the pleasure of having Salthouse cater my recent wedding and rehearsal dinner on October 2nd, 2020 in Charleston and first I’ll just start by saying I 110% recommended Salthouse Catering for so many reasons (other than the delicious food of course!). My mom and I worked very closely with Vince for the better part of a year, and from literally start to finish Vince was professional, personable, so informative, and always very responsive. Him and his team (shout out to Rachel!!) are amazing and truly the best at what they do. The food was heavenly, like so sooo good. We had wedding guests commenting and asking for weeks how they loved the food and who catered, of course we are happy to tell them and recommend Salthouse. The quality of service=impeccable, the food=absolutely amazing, presentation=beautiful, I could go on and on. My wife and I highly recommend Vince and his team at Salthouse Catering to cater your event! Vince is extremely responsive and very easy to work with. I live in Indianapolis, so all of our communication was done over the phone and through email. He made the entire planning process easy and stress free. During the pandemic, my wife and I determined that we needed to reschedule our wedding for the fall. I was concerned that Salthouse would charge us for rescheduling. When I told Vince that we were changing the date, not only was he understanding, but he was supportive of our decision. Vince also helped us coordinate with the company that provided the tables, chairs, linens, etc. As we closed in on the day of the wedding, our attendee numbers were fluctuating a lot. Vince was able to modify our numbers days before the ceremony. During the reception, his team provided an incredible service. They were extremely respectful and professional. We received several compliments on the excellent food and quality of service, and overall we had a great time. Thank you Vince and the rest of your Salthouse Catering team! -

When my husband and I first started planning our wedding we made a list of priorities. Both of us had good food at the top. We went to several tastings and there was no question Salthouse was the best. The hardest part was deciding what to select from their extensive menu because everything we tried was amazing. We loved them so much that we also had them cater our rehearsal dinner too. Not only was the food amazing, Vince was a pleasure to work with and made sure every need of ours was met. The staff at both of our events were professional and accommodating to our guests requests. I had heard horror stories of people not getting a chance to eat at their wedding, not us. Tanya was a total rockstar. Our wedding was truly a dream and a huge part of that is thanks to Salthouse. The number one compliment we have received from our guests has been how amazing the food was. All of the staff was so attentive and made sure everyone was catered to.
The scallops.... oh, the scallops. That's really all I can say. Guests were passing $20 bills around to keep the scallops coming to their side of the room if that speaks to their hype.

Vince was the most amazing person to work with during the entire wedding process. He was so lovely and nice, the best person during this crazy process of planning a wedding. As god as he is, the food is EVEN BETTER!!! It is so beautifully presented and I am still hearing raves from my guests. They capture everything that you would want to a Charleston wedding. My husband and I are super foodies and we can guarantee you will be thrilled you picked salthouse for all of your catering needs!! So many options and all of them are to DIE FOR!!! Salthouse Catering did an exceptional job at my wedding on 5/19/19 at the Legare Waring House in Charleston. From the first time I reached out to Salt House, they were easy to work with and very responsive. We worked with Vince and after an amazing tasting we decided on Salt House. We had the Best of Seasons vegetable meat and cheese display and my out of town guests loved the pimento cheese! The passed apps were also incredible - we especially loved the watermelon canapé and fresh corn soup. I’ve had many shrimp and grits but I honestly believe they make the best I’ve ever had and will ever have. We had stations including the shrimp and grits, short rib with mashed potatoes, fried green tomatoes with goat cheese, and chicken with succotash. Everything was impeccable. While I didn’t get to eat much on my wedding night, I did get to have a bite of our late night chicken and biscuits and they were absolutely delicious. Vince was on site during the wedding and it was great to have him there after working with him so much on the menu.
My aunt works at a wedding venue in New Jersey and even she said this was probably the best food she has ever had a wedding. I received so many compliments about the food and I cannot wait to have another opportunity to work with Salt House. -

Salthouse was the perfect catering choice for our backyard wedding on Edisto Island! Vince worked closely with my mom leading up to the wedding and she was consistently impressed by his responsiveness and suggestions. On the day of the wedding, his team was professional, timely, and kind. And all of the food was delicious! They packed us generous portions of leftovers that were still tasty the next day-- we had to keep the mushroom ravioli away from our family it was that good. -

Tanya worked through multiple drafts as she coordinated with long distance us and even longer distance parents. The food was to die for - I would eat that spaghetti squash everyday if I could - and they followed the timeline to a T. We are SO HAPPY we went with Salthouse as our caterer for our wedding! We worked with Vince, and from the very beginning all the way to after the wedding, Vince was one of the most responsive, professional, and flexible vendors we had! He always responded to my emails and calls within 1-2 days, most often a couple of hours, which I cannot say for any other catering vendor in Charleston! He worked with us to build a custom menu, and when we went in for the tasting we were blown away at how delicious and flavorful everything was! We had a Southern Antipasto appetizer table with fresh fruit and vegetables, meats and cheese, and four passed hors d'oeuvres - tomato pies, crab cakes, braised beef short rib, and mini Kentucky hot browns (little sandwiches that were our FAVORITE) for our cocktail hour food. Our guests loved them, I kept hearing everyone tell me which is their favorite (and at least each of the four was someone's favorite so you know they were all good)! The service was also impeccable, servers were going around constantly so no one had to track down the food, and I never saw empty glasses or trash on our cocktail tables. For our reception, we had a seated plated three course dinner. Since a lot of our guests had never been to the low-country, our first course was shrimp and grits in a small champagne coup. I've tried lots of shrimp and grits dishes in Charleston, and believe me when I say Salthouse had the BEST shrimp and grits I've ever had! We had several guests ask for seconds and tell me they are obsessed with the shrimp and grits. For the second course we had the Southern Salad with pimento cheese ranch to continue giving our guests a tour of traditional Charleston food (pimento cheese). And the main entrees were pre-selected to either be bacon-wrapped filet topped with Bernaise sauce and a side of frites, pan-seared salmon topped with lemon-thyme Beurre Blanc sauce and a side of gold rice grits, or mushroom ravioli for vegetarians. It's amazing that they cooked 70+ steaks cooked perfectly and served with fries and of them were served around the same time while staying temperature hot! The steak was juicy and flavorful, and the Bernaise sauce was out of this world. Our guests told us the salmon and ravioli dishes were delicious as well! We loved that everything served not only looked great, but tasted delicious and was made from local fresh ingredients. Our wedding day went without a hitch, everything went so smoothly, and even though my groom and I amazingly had time to eat all three courses, we were so grateful for the extra food they packed up for us for our wedding night! (We stuffed our face as soon as we got back to the hotel because it was all so yummy!). Thank you so much to Vince and everyone at Salthouse for exceeding our expectations! -

Where do I even begin – Salthouse Catering did an outstanding job catering my daughter’s wedding. We had so much fun doing the tasting with Vince at Salthouse and my daughter and her fiancé immediately knew they wanted to go with Salthouse. They far exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious – we had many guests comment on how awesome the food was. We had a farmhouse spread and four passed appetizers (including the super yummy Kentucky hot browns and the tomato pies) for cocktail hour. For dinner, we went against the typical Charleston choice of stations and did a sit-down dinner so our guests could just sit and be served instead of waiting in line, and we would definitely recommend it. We had a first course of shrimp and grits served in little champagne saucers, second course of southern salad, and a main entrée selection of bacon-wrapped filet of beef, grilled salmon, or mushroom ravioli. Guests were raving about the food! I don’t know how they served the majority of our guests tender filet and crispy-hot house cut frites and got the meat perfectly done and frites still hot for everyone at the same time – but they did it! The service was excellent – they served quickly and efficiently and were very professional. I couldn’t ask for better service. If you want to “WOW” your guests and not have to worry about a thing, book Salthouse, you will not be disappointed. -

Amazing Experience!!
Working with Salthouse Catering and Vince and his team was absolutely incredible! Going into the wedding planning experience, I assumed that providing food to our guests would be a check the box. However, Salthouse not only provided incredible food for our 155 guests but added so much to our guest experience with their amazing displays of food, wonderful staff and even packing up all the extra for my husband and I to take at the end of the night, as we barely had any time to eat during the reception. Vince and his team came up with a diverse menu that appealed to all ages and tastes and showcased the best of the lowcountry. Moreover, Vince was great about helping us schedule our tasting, as my husband and I live out of time and needed some flexibility due to work schedules. The tasting included full size samples from every part of our menu and the team worked with us to pick out everything from sauces to serving dishes that we preferred. Finally, nothing says more about Vince than our guest reviews, with many people telling us how delicious the food was!! We had people reach out months after the wedding to tell us it is the best wedding food they have ever had/ how they have never had grits cooked that well/ how much they loved the steak and the glaze for the fried chicken/ and if there was a way they could get the oysters and fish we had at the wedding delivered to them :) -

Vince from Salthouse was an ABSOLUTE gem. His attention to detail, quick response time, and above and beyond customer service had us at hello. :) We truly knew there was no other catering service for us after just a few interactions with him. Luckily for us, that level of customer service only continued to get better through the wedding planning process. Since we were planning a destination wedding, we had a lot of questions and needed to see a lot of pictures. Vince was patient and helped gently steer us in the right direction when we were heading off course. He also set up the MOST amazing tasting experience ever. I had no idea that a tasting could be so much fun. My parents made the trip with us and we still talk about it to this day. It was an unforgettable part of our wedding planning experience thanks to Salthouse. Fast forward to our wedding day, and I've truly NEVER heard of guests talk about the food in the way they did ours. We went with a station approach and found that most guests tried every single station because everything was THAT good. I had many people tell me after that it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. Vince also had so many personal touches the day of for us; there are no words to how special he made us and our guests feel. We are forever thankful to Vince and his incredible team. We had the most wonderful experience working with Salthouse Catering for our wedding!! The food was absolutely amazing - everything we tried at our tasting was so delicious, we had trouble narrowing down items for our final menu because we wanted it all! We ended up going with a "stations" style reception to give our guests the opportunity to try multiple items (crab cakes + salad, braised short rib + mashed potatoes, fried chicken + mac n cheese). Our guests have not stopped raving about about the food and multiple people said it was the best wedding meal they've had!
Vince was truly a joy to work with throughout the process -- he was extremely responsive, accommodating, and detail oriented. The food was amazing--from the appetizers to the biscuit bar to the fried chicken, it was the best wedding food I have ever had. He is professional, sweet, and very responsive. We loved the station-style dinner, which made it easy to customize in order to accommodate the vegetarians at our wedding. The fried chicken, shrimp and grits, mac and cheese, and broccoli salad were definitely our favorites. I didn’t get to try the desserts, but the guests raved about them. Best of all, Salthouse was so sweet to make special trays of hors d'oeuvres for us at the wedding, and boxed up all the leftovers for us to enjoy later. We would highly recommend Salthouse catering for your wedding or any event!!

I'm a vegetarian, my husband is a hunter, some of my family is kosher and a few of our friends are gluten free, so needless to say, we had a ton of dietary restrictions among the group for both events! Salthouse provided us with tons of options to satisfy all preferences and even offered to customize the dishes we selected. Aside from Vince's AMAZING service (fast responses, detailed emails, super attentive leading up to wedding and day of), what really wowed us was something Salthouse did on our wedding day. They heard from some of the servers at our rehearsal dinner that we had a few vegans in the group, which I hadn't originally included in our already lengthy dietary restrictions list. With this discovery, they showed up to our wedding with additional ingredients to prepare a truly beautiful vegan plate for those guests at our wedding. The food at the tasting was phenomenal and just as amazing the day of our wedding! So, SO good! The mini tomato pies are everything! Vince also made sure to bring us a little tray of hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour (PS. the trays with the salt they use are adorable) and packed up left overs for us to take home. We definitely enjoyed those as a late night snack and the next day!! I highly recommend using them for not only their fabulous food but exceptional service! -

In the end we decided to go with Salthouse Catering as our choice and we could not have been happier. Vince and his group were absolutely amazing! I have been in the hospitality industry for quiet some time and I have never seen or worked with a staff like his. Since our first interactions with them they have been professional, personable and reliable. On top of that all of the food was displayed beautifully and tasted amazing. They truly went above and beyond to make both my husband and I incredibly happy. Our guest could not stop talking about the display and the quality of the food. They thought of everything and helped us with everything the day off; things we had not even thought of.
