We used Catering by Saltbox for our September 2025 and could not have been happier. Working with Ben, Megan and the whole team was fun, thoughtful and professional and the result was a PERFECT experience and AMAZING food. We knew it would be :) but our guests raved. 1000% recommend. PS. They also have an amazing restaurant in Concord, Mass. -

There are not strong enough words to convey how truly fantastic Meg, Ben, Nate and the Saltbox Team are. Planning a wedding in Massachusetts with the bride across the country in California posed unique challenges but Meg and the SBK team went above and beyond what we thought possible to make our vision come to life. The food was incredible, and we have heard from many guests that it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. Hosting the wedding in our yard, there was a never-ending list of logistics and decisions that never seemed overwhelming or out of control thanks to Meg’s meticulous planning and steady presence. She held our hand through it all and created an event far beyond our wildest imaginations. I couldn’t recommend the Saltbox team enough. -

Cannot even put into words how excellent our experience with Saltbox was. They made the whole process leading up to our wedding so easy and fun. From all the coordination and planning the behind the scenes logistics, to deciding on the menu and the tasting, everything was so flawlessly executed. The team was professional, the food was incredible, and Meg was just the best to work with! Simply cannot recommend highly enough! -

Outstanding
Like many brides, I did not plan for a pandemic for my August 15, 2020 wedding. I can happily say, our food was not one of them. I cannot say enough positive things about the Salt Box, who stuck by us and worked with us every week as guidelines and restrictions changed (weekly). Megan, Chef Ben and rest of the Salt Box team worked creatively to transform the buffet style menu for 150 guests to a beautiful, intimate experience for our reduced number of 35. Our apps were served amuse bouche style - with everything beautifully plated and served individually to guests to abide the policies and restrictions. The team then served each guest their main course individually, careful to take into consideration dietary restrictions. Everything was delicious and our guests RAVED about the farm-to-table selections! In addition, they made my dream of a wedding cake made out of cheese a reality - with three layers of my favorite cheeses beautifully decorated with different pairings of honey, lavender, jams. The team then plated the cheeses with the sides for each of the guests, using our personal cutting boards as a final touch. I can't say enough amazing things about the Salt Box team and am so grateful for their thoughtfulness in creating such a beautiful and intimate dinner for our guests. -

It was our best decision ever to hire Saltbox! My husband Josh and I got married on 6/18/21 and had Saltbox cater our barn wedding. Megan, Nathan, and their collective team put together the most incredible menu for the event and surpassed our expectations completely. We knew they would be good, we didn't realize the food and service would be FANTASTIC. Our guests are still talking about the food and how it was like dining at a high-end restaurant and how wedding food normally is just "OK" or even worse, "sucks".
More than just the food, the Saltbox team was incredibly accommodating to our guests with allergies, they made sure everyone was well-taken care of, and even pulled my husband and me aside to enjoy a few of the hors d'oeuvres while we were snapping more photos during cocktail hour.
I cannot say enough positive things about their team as people and as professionals. 10/10 would recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer and I know we will be referring our friends and family to use them as well! -
Nina Sent on 09/25/2018I cannot speak highly enough about the team at Saltbox. We discovered them at our friend's wedding- and remembered it being the only memorable wedding food we had had. When we found a venue we weren't thrilled with the local options- the vendors we had reached out to were stuffy and vague about pricing.
We got married on Saranac Lake in upstate New York, so weren't sure what the response would be when we asked Saltbox about their availability and willingness to travel. From the beginning, Megan was transparent about the costs associated with bringing here the team 5 hours away and about the pricing in general- which was much appreciated.
We went for a tasting up at the farmhouse. Chef Ben had a meal ready for us based on the initial menu he had developed and the time of year of the wedding. We used that as a starting point to design a menu together- a collaborative and creative experience. Megan, who was our main point person throughout diligent about coordinating with our wedding planner to make sure the process went smoothly and efficiently.
When it came to the day of the wedding- the food was just amazing. Fresh ingredients, vibrant flavors. Our guests were blown away. I actually made a point to eat the ever elusive wedding night dinner. The staff was all so lovely and they really helped us create a special experience for our friends and family. We were and still are totally thrilled. -

Jennifer Sent on 11/01/2017Food was top priority for our wedding and we were quickly won over at the tasting when Chef Ben Elliott cooked for us at Saltbox Farm over a year ago. We distinctively remembered how amazing the pumpkin gnudi and the short ribs were. We were initially a little concerned about how the tasting skillet would translate to group of 50 guests, but at our wedding on October 21, the food quality were just as amazing. We received so many compliments from our guests indicating that it was the best wedding food they ever had. The service staff were friendly and professional. All of our guests were truly well cared for. Bonus - Chef Ben Elliott even made an appearance at our wedding!
A special mention to Megan Hawkes, Manager of Catering and Events for her hard work in coordinating everything especially the rentals. She made everything happen...

Jenna Sent on 06/19/2021If you're considering hiring Saltbox Kitchen for your wedding, DON'T!
I didn't think anything of it at the start, but now I realize it was a bad sign that Saltbox Farm & Kitchen hadn't had a review on Wedding Wire since 2018. My husband and I hired Saltbox in November 2020 for our wedding in June 2021 because we loved the idea of hiring a farm to table caterer and thought their food was delicious. However, as soon as we signed the contract we had issues, mainly due to Megan Hawkes, their catering manager. Megan only responded to emails or calls at best once a week (apparently she only worked on Wednesdays) and when she did respond, she was overwhelmed and unable to answer the most basic of questions. As we got closer to the wedding and details needed to be finalized, it became very apparent that neither Megan nor the owners of Saltbox had any idea how to cater a small backyard wedding during COVID. Every step of the way with Saltbox was challenging, and we realized two months before the wedding that we needed to find a new caterer. In our search we spoke to 5 other caterers who were easily able to answer the same questions Saltbox couldn't, and it made us realize that the problem was Saltbox and not the pandemic. We wound up a different caterer who provided delicious food and impeccable service, and looking back we realized we dodged a major bullet by not having Saltbox cater our wedding!
