Runaway island was an incredible place to get married, my wife and I had the best experience with them. Devin is fantastic, so communicative and helpful. The food, drinks, and service was amazing. Devin and the entire team were incredible! The service was beyond reproach. The handled set up, appetizers, food, the bar and was very helpful to other service that we brought in. Wow! What can I say about Runaway Island! We were booked at a place at another place in Florda that was hit by both of the hurricanes 5 weeks before our wedding. While we were trying to find what we were going to do as we had family coming from out of the country and we could not reschedule, we started looking in the Panama/Destin area. We reached out to so many places and Devin's responses and willingness to work with us in such a short period of time was so refreshing during a time of stress with us not knowing what we were going to do.
Before the wedding, quick communication and the venue's willingness to work with us on special menu items from his home country was amazing!
The week of and actual ceremony and reception went so well. Everything was in it's place and taken care without me having to worry about one thing!
The staff/owners made this day so welcoming and comfortable. They went above and beyond.

First of all we want to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for Devin event coordinator and runaway island staff. Devin is very responsive with communication and make sure everything is in place and explained us all the details very clearly. Ballyhoo wedding room is gorgeous and great room for large guests and the island buffet food option is delicious and appetizers and the drinks, the staff and bar tender are amazing. The perfect day
I can not thank the staff at Runaway Island enough for making our day so special. They were absolutely wonderful. Everyone raved about the food (island buffet) for weeks to come. Everyone was so professional and helpful with absolutely everything. Devan was PHENOMENAL! She was so helpful and just helped to ease all my worries and stresses. We cannot say enough about Devin and her crew. The entire experience was over the top special. Not only was the ceremony and reception venue perfect, you could feel the genuine celebration from the entire staff. It felt like family when all was said and done. I would recommend Runaway Island to anyone looking for a fun, beautiful and inclusive place to gather and celebrate! Not to mention the food! One word: DEVIN! She is amazing from start to finish! We visited the venue and knew as soon as we left it was the one. The view of the beach, the wood floors, tables and lights hanging from the ceiling… just amazing! During the tour Devin explained everything in great detail. She answered every question we had and others we hadn’t even thought of! We live in Colorado so having her as the venue coordinator was a huge plus. Any time I had a question she was quick to respond and put my mind at ease. It was all so stress free because I knew Devin had it all handled for me. We booked the Ballyhoo Room for our reception and the beach at Runaway Island for our ceremony. It rained the day of our wedding but magically stopped for just the amount of time for the ceremony and pictures. Devin stayed with me until it was time for me to walk down the aisle. She tracked the weather on her phone and continuously kept me updated. Her team of servers were amazing as well. And the food… oh man the food… we served the buffet, mahi mahi, chicken Alfredo, mashed potatoes, etc… everything was so good and all of our guests raved about the food and the service! It was so delicious! Devin and her team worked to make sure every small and big detail was covered! Tables and chairs were setup how we requested, when we came up to the reception Devin got us drinks before heading in for our grand entrance, appetizers were at our seat when we arrived to the reception, they offered to fix our plates and continuously checked on us throughout the reception making sure we had everything we needed. Our wedding day was perfect because of Devin and her team. We highly recommend Runaway Island for your wedding or any celebration. You will not be disappointed!Runaway Island's reply:

Affordable Space and Great Food
Great, affordable, and tasty selection of quality food for buffet style catering! Their mango salmon and the skewer shrimps were some of the bests I have ever had, and the non-seafood items if you are not a seafood fan were also well made as well. The Ballyhoo room was very spacious for a small to medium size wedding, with plenty of space to spare for a spacious dance floor. We also rented the beach in front of the restaurant for our wedding ceremony around noon, and the ocean was absolutely gorgeous and not really windy (emerald green!) if you don't mind a few beach bystanders. The staff, including Devin, were very welcoming and nice to us and our guests! Devin was very flexible and helpful, and responded to our requests in a timely manner. Overall, we have great experience and would highly recommend the venue to anyone who is looking for a nice quality and affordable beach-side/destination wedding!Runaway Island's reply:

We had a literal dream experience with Devin and her team at Runaway Island. We got engaged in November of 2021 and knew we wanted to get married in PCB, FL and I knew planning a wedding from the West Coast when I would only make ONE trip out to FL before my wedding was going to be... alot. I started looking around and reached out to Devin. We talked over the phone, we talked over text, we talked over email and she was phenomenal. Her assistance and guidance and just the general vibe and ambiance from the venue made me certain the place was for me.
When we did get to meet in person, it was better than I could have imagined. The drinks and the food were great. The venue was GORGEOUS and Devin is just nothing short of amazing. They were incredibly accommodating, answering all my millions of questions always with a positive attitude and gracious response.
My wedding was a literal dream and I genuinely think that was in large part to her and to Runaway Island. My singular favorite moment was being able to watch my future husband take the walk down the beautiful walkway to the beach just minutes before I would.
I can't rave about this place enough. I will come back here every single time I'm in PCB and I hope I always run into the staff and Devin.

Excellent venue
We absolutely loved using Runaway Island as our venue. The price was right and Devin did a wonderful job coordinating everything. We would recommend Runaway Island 150%! The weather was perfect and the sunset was gorgeous.Runaway Island's reply:

I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful wedding. My husband and I used runaway for our ceremony and our reception and it was absolutely perfect! The Ballyhoo room was set up to meet all of our expectations, the view was fabulous, the food was to die for that all of our guests raved over it, and the bartender was slinging drinks like a pro keeping up with our crowd. I wish I could relive this night over and over! Devin made booking and planning a breeze! (Also, giving vendor recommendations since we live out of town was a life saver! Kelly from make my day special was amazing as well)

The perfect place for a ceremony and reception.
Devin helped me from day 1! I started planning my wedding 18 months in advance and she helped me every step of the way. The venue was perfect. We had our ceremony and reception at Runaway and couldn’t have asked for a better day. The food was amazing, the bartender was fantastic, and the room was set up so beautifully. Excellent beach wedding experience
Having our ceremony and reception at Runaway Island was the best decision. I basically told him how many chairs and which I wanted and showed up to put the decorations on and walk down the aisle they took care of everything else. They are service was phenomenal, the food was delicious, and the scenery was breathtaking. I had a small wedding with 30 in attendance and had a dinner reception on the sunset deck. Very reasonably priced especially with having excellent service and excellent food.Runaway Island's reply:

You won't have to worry about a thing with Runaway Island by your side! I cannot say enough about Devin and her team. Our sequence of events was non-traditional and she accommodated anything we asked. Planning a destination wedding is not easy and you have to trust blindly, to a certain extent...and Devin nailed it. From the planning of our wedding day for the past 9 months to the unexpected weather on our wedding day, Devin and her staff never skipped a beat and everything was exceptional! Runaway gave me a prefect wedding that I dreamed for
I was nervous about having a beach wedding, Devin is very helpful and professional, she gave me very helpful advise, it definitely helped eased my anxiety. we had a prefect wedding that we ever dreamed for. Beyond every expectation I had!
My husband and I chose this venue due to it being right by the water, the bay doors in the Ballyhoo room would help incorporate the beach. Unfortunately for our night the fog was so thick the beach was unable to be seen, but the venue (room) itself was gorgeous! The staff was beyond amazing and helpful. I would definitely recommend this venue and the staff to anyone looking for a beach venue! The food was incredible we had no complaints at all! 5 Stars for Runaway Island
My husband and I were supposed to be married in May of 2020. Thanks to COVID that did not happen and we ended up reschedule our wedding date two more times. Over the course of about a year and a half we worked with Runaway Island to pull together our perfect day. The staff at Runaway Island (shout out to Devin!) were so kind and helpful. They were willing to work with us to reschedule everything which was not an easy task as my husband and I are based out of the Florida area. The most challenging item we faced across all our vendors was response time. We could go days without hearing back from everyone, EXCEPT Runaway Island. They were always so on top of their communication and the many of details that go into any event planning. Devin was fully prepared when it came to guiding us through the planning of the event, to ensuring that our guest with food allergies were taken care of to offering example room layouts for our tables. No question we had for her was too big or too small. The venue itself was beautiful as well. It had just been freshly repainted and the whole room just felt bright and airy. I would hands down recommended anyone have their event at Runaway Island.Runaway Island's reply:

Runaway Island was everything I was looking for and more! Everywhere I looked was overpriced venues with 5 course meals and that just simply wasn't what we wanted. I wanted a venue where everyone felt comfortable and where my husband and I felt like ourselves. Runaway Island was so beautiful and had the perfect elegant yet rustic look we wanted. Devon and her team were amazing and there for us through the whole process and always there to answer my never-ending list of questions. They set up our area on the beach for the ceremony which was an absolute dream. Devon even has weather tracking apps to help watch out for any surprise rain. They were so flexible and able to meet all of our requests. I can't recommend Runaway Island enough for your wedding!!!Runaway Island's reply:

Wedding Reception was planned to be held in Ballyhoo Room. Room was amazing, ceiling lights, garage doors that open on both sides of room, stage, dance floor, plenty of room for all our guests. Full bar. Staff that assisted was amazing and bartender. Devin the event manager was a life saver in assisting with planning and food needs. Literally the most perfect venue and amazing staff!!
When picking a venue we wanted something very open with good food and a great view. We wanted people that would work with us and mold options to our liking. Devin and her team did all this and more!! Devin came up to us multiple times during our wedding to check on us and would go above and beyond to make sure we were happy. I couldn’t imagine having my wedding anywhere else. She made everything so easy and caused zero stress and actually took a ton of stress off of me and my groom and family. She is absolutely incredible and would recommend to anyone! If you don’t have your wedding here you are truly missing out. And the view is absolutely incredible!Runaway Island's reply:

Wedding of our dreams!

We had our wedding here a couple months back and we reserved the Ballyhoo Room and the Flag Room. They are connected and were perfect for our reception space. You have beautiful views of the beach from the huge windows, the bar is very cool and adds a nice touch, and food was AMAZING! The staff were all very nice and accommodating and they helped make it the best party ever. Beautiful space, great food, great drinks. -

Runway Island Grill was an amazing venue for our Rehersal Dinner - they offered such great vendors to work with on helping decorate even wear to get your hair done! The attention to details on the day of were awesome, the food was great - the wait staff friendly and on top of things ... they were flexible when we changed the time of the buffet - the Audio visual things worked well ... the room itself it beautiful. Incredible Experience at Runaway!
Words can’t express how incredible our experience was at Runaway Island! Susan and Devin were so flexible in working with our budget for food and made many recommendations to help fit our budget. Our guests commented that it was some of the food they’ve ever had at a wedding! the staff that was working that night were equally as stellar. Super kind and very attentive. I can say with confidence our wedding would not have been as much fun somewhere else. The atmosphere was exactly what we wanted. I did a lot of research on venues before making a final decision and you won’t find one of better value anywhere else along the coast!Runaway Island's reply:

I celebrated my wedding here on March 2, we had a beautiful beach ceremony & our reception in the Ballyhoo room. I planned my wedding from Texas so everything was done through phone or email & I just want to say it was such an easier process than I thought it would be. Eveything about the day was perfect! The staff was amazing, they were very attentive to our entire party & we had so much fun with them. The food was also really really good all of our guests were really impressed. Overall, we are very happy with our choice in choosing RI, my wedding day exceeded my expectations :)Runaway Island's reply:

Amazing Venue
So happy we chose this venue. We had the best experience using Runaway Island for our reception venue. Susan was extremely responsive and great to work with. She was always quick to answer and questions and make sure she was accomidating our needs/wants. The rest of the staff was amazing as well. I recieved so many compliments from my guests not only on the food but on the friendliness and hospitality of the staff. They also all complimented how beautiful the venue was. It's was the perfect location since I wanted a beach wedding but my husband liked the rustic look. Great staff. Great views. Great food! -

The best wedding of all time
Our venue was so beautiful. We got married on the beach behind the venure which was very convenient as the staff was very helpful with setting up our chairs and arbor for us! Our reception followed upstairs and we used both rooms as we had lots of guests. The venue was beautiful and did not require many decorations. The staff catered to all of our needs and went above and beyond for our special day! -

Retirement Party
We had my husband’s retirement party at Runaway and I couldn’t be for pleased! The staff was super accommodating and the food was fabulous, but it’s the venue that made our event. It’s a beautiful rustic room with a fantastic vibe. Loved everything about this location. -

Katelyn Sent on 09/25/2018I can't tell you enough how happy we were with our Runaway Island experience- a unique one, I'm sure.
I am a local to PCB, and my now-husband and I had our dream destination mountain wedding scheduled for the weekend in North Carolina. With the path of Hurricane Florence, however, we were forced to cancel our wedding and re-plan an entirely new wedding in PCB in just 4 days. I was recommended to call Runaway Island by a friend who does their marketing and got connected with Susan in their events department. In just a matter of hours, Susan had planned my entire wedding rehearsal after working-hours. They were able to work within my budget with a customized menu and, best of all, all we had to do was just show up. Everything was already beautifully-decorated, so there was nothing to do on our end- a huge relief for a stressed-out bride who was planning a new wedding in less than a week. When we arrived, we were in a spacious room upstairs and were helped every step of the way by their restaurant manager Devin, and by our server Tiffany. None of my guests were without drinks and they lacked nothing the entire time we were there. Not to mention, the food was delicious.
I am so impressed and relieved to have had Runaway Island step in to help me with this special time for me and my husband, and I HIGHLY recommend them for any party, big or small. -

Lacey Sent on 09/19/2018My wedding at Runaway Island was absolutely wonderful! Having the ceremony and the reception at the same place was very important to me, and this location was perfect. The event coordinator could not have been any better, and she went above and beyond to make sure everything was set up correctly and everything was perfect. She met with me and answered all of my questions, and she always answered my phone calls. She was with me and walked me through it every step of the way. Runaway customized our taco bar, which was a big hit with all the guests. The food was delicious. All the staff members were so sweet, and some of the servers even sang Backstreet Boys with the bridesmaids as a last minute jam session before the ceremony started. That little detail is a memory I will never forget! And my groom's favorite part was having a tv upstairs so we could watch football. Trust me, this was very important.
Brides, if you want to have a beautiful wedding but only want to write one check for the ceremony, the reception, the chairs, everything, this is the perfect place for you!Runaway Island's reply:

The reception room was exactly what I wanted for my beach wedding. Also, our guest still haven't stopped talking about how great the blackened fish tacos were! Amanda Sent on 06/19/2018My husband and I had an amazing experience with Runaway Island. We are from up north and couldn't come down to see the venue in person before the wedding. When we arrived, Runaway exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect and we LOVED the flag room. We comfortably fit all our guests and had room for a dance floor. The view from the room was beautiful and our guests raved about the venue. They also really enjoyed the appetizers and service. Also, I cannot say enough good things about Susan, the event coordinator. She was accessible and prompt in responses. She immediately made me feel comfortable and was genuinely nice to everyone in my wedding party. I would highly recommend Runaway for weddings.

Ann Sent on 06/05/2018Runaway Island is our new favorite restaurant in Panama City Beach. We had our wedding reception there and it was amazing! Everyone was so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had the perfect night. Price wise it wasn't bad at all! We definitely recommend runaway Island for a party or reception in the future. Oh and if you do go to just the restaurant try the crab dip it's amazing!

Viking Wedding
Venues are expensive but we feel runaway island was worth it. Everyone loved the food and Destin was so quick with in depth responses and helped us make so many last minute changes seamlessly.Runaway Island's reply:

Devin and her staff were incredible the day of my wedding! Everyone was super organized and helpful. This was a destination wedding for my husband and I so we were planning from miles away. Devin was always available when I had questions and was there the day of my wedding when we went to set up decorations to help go over everything. She made sure everything ran smoothly and took away all my stress. The food was amazing and every last member of her staff was friendly and willing to go above and beyond. We rented out the Ballyhoo room which is beautiful for a reception. They had the perfect spot on the beach for a ceremony as well. I would give this place a 10 star if I could. We will definitely be back to dine in their restaurant when we go back to Panama City for our yearly visits!Runaway Island's reply:

The venue was exactly what we envisioned from the beach where we said I DO to the rustic beach look with string lights to the scenic ocean view. The Ballyhoo was the perfect size for 46 people, the staff was nice, and Devin was great! She even helped make sure all our wedding donuts made it to the venue in time. The only negative thing we’d have to say is that the bar tender was serving shots to people all night when we put in our contract “no shots”, but it still turned out to be an amazing night!Runaway Island's reply:

However, the staff on site on the day of my wedding was absolutely phenomenal! The service team that worked the food and bar were so great and helpful to me as the bride but also to my guests. The manager on duty helped us tremendously when we found out we would have to have our ceremony inside instead of out back on the beach. They made my day a breeze and I couldn’t be more thankful for that!

really happy to choose to have our wedding at Runaway Island because the food was great and the room was beautiful, however I'm also REALLY happy I didn't have them do our wedding. Susan was not very good at answering my questions (though Matt the restaurant manager was fantastic and extremely helpful, unfortunately he is not the one that handles events) A lot (maybe even all?) of my specific requests were not followed, and some of the staff had no clue. They kept sending guests upstairs when I was getting ready, even though Susan (who wasn't even there the day of the event, and apparently that's typical) said that they would be directed to the ceremony area. You can imagine this caused a lot of frustration when we were doing pictures and getting dressed.
The staff had no idea about the allergies I had previously discussed with Susan. The only reason my guests were not served contaminated foods is because one of the staff members thought it was odd we had 2 fish for our appetizers (the other fish was not an app, it was the meal for the 2 guests with allergies) Thank goodness she asked!
The garage doors were not opened in our room, we were told before our wedding they would ask if we wanted them open (weather permitting) it was a beautiful day and they were not opened and we were not asked. It was hot and stuffy in the room because of this, until the bar tender opened them for us.
We had chargers on the table for decoration, the staff didn't give us plates because of this. I was then given an attitude when I asked for plates. Despite the bride and groom and a line of people waiting at the buffet, they started giving everyone 1 plate each on the other side of the room until they got to us. We did not get clean plates for seconds.
The bartender did not know of our signature drinks, nor did he know of our budget or "no shots" rules. We were interrupted during the cocktail our (when we were taking pictures, to ask details on the limits and such that were previously discussed in detail) He was awesome though, one of our friends discussed details with him and he would go around straightening up our décor and was just great with the guests. There didn't seem to ever be anyone "in charge" of our event though. No one checked on us, or made sure the food was good or everything was doing okay.
I had sent Susan an email after this with our disappointments, and the response I received was more or less "I sorry, it's not my fault because I told them." But quite frankly, as someone that works in the service industry, just telling your staff something means nothing if you can't make sure they follow through with it. Again the venue is great, the food is delicious but their event organization and follow through are terrible.
