Beautiful Pictures!

Ruben did an outstanding job for our wedding!! During our first meeting with him, he didn't try to high pressure sell us; he just let his work speak for itself, and it did. Throughout the process he was professional and reliable and responsive. On our wedding day, he not only managed our requested list of photos, he added an artistic touch and found excellent backdrops for the pictures. He also suggested some additional pictures, which ended up being some of our favorites! During the ceremony and reception he did a great job capturing the event without being intrusive. Finally, we ended up going with his package that included the photo book. We just picked it up and couldn't be more pleased! We highly recommend Ruben!!

An amazing artist with an eye for the details!

Ruben did our engagement photos and our wedding day, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. He has a truly artistic eye and knows just how to direct people to get everything looking perfect. We trusted him 100% because he’s been in the industry for a long time and know what he’s doing! He has a variety of flexible packages and we were able to make last minute changes to include a second shooter. His prices were incredibly reasonable especially for this area. He’s an amazing photographer and we’re so glad we found him!

Ruben did a great job of capturing our wedding. He was very professional from start to finish; it was obvious that he is passionate about what he does. He was also flexible with photo package options, which helped us stick to our budget. I recommend Ruben and his assistant, Kimberly, highly; they got a lot of interesting and beautiful shots of our wedding day. We'd like to thank them both!

Ruben was our photographer for our wedding on December 10, 2016. He captured amazing photos and memories of the event. I liked working with Ruben because he was very responsive, quick to answer questions via email or text. If you want someone with experience, creativity, and availability, chose Ruben. He was very accommodating, and we chose him from at least 10 photographers. He worked with us every step of the way!

If I had three words to describe my experience with Ruben Photography it would be flexible, creative, and talented. I reached out to Ruben after a previous photograph had to cancel with only 2 weeks left before the wedding. I was worried because of the short time frame and I thought it would be hard to find a photograph familiar with civil ceremony experience. That is when I found Ruben.

From the start he was very responsive and since we didn't have the time to meet up we hashed out all of the details via email. Ruben was very open to all of my ideas and gave his creative feedback based on what I had in mind. He was very flexible as I made countless changes in the 2 week period that we had been working together.

On the day off Ruben was fantastic. He was capturing moments that I would never have thought of and at every location he would see opportunities that would create magical photos.

Simply put, if you are reading this review and thinking of working with Ruben just do it.

When it comes to pictures, I am an extremely picky person and want nothing but the best. As a women, I want to feel beautiful, look skinny and have good pictures portraying how I want to feel and Ruben captured that for me.

Ruben-
- was usually very quick to respond to my emails
- very flexible
- He had great prices and packages
- very professional
- pretty punctual
- Listened to my requests

And of course took some amazing pictures! I would defiantly recommend him for any event!

My experience with Ruben-

My fiancé and I had our engagement session with him and he was fine to work with, however after I got my pictures back via Drop Box, I wasn't pleased with some of the pictures. A few turned out nice but the rest I wasn't crazy about, because I realized that I didn't properly explain to him what I was looking for in the pictures. Plus, the setting wasn't really me, my hair didn't cooperate and it was a chilly morning when we took the pictures. So a little disappointed, I emailed him again and asked if he would mind redoing our engagement and he said yes! This time, I was better able to explain what I wanted, the location was changed, as well as the time of day and the pictures turned out great! I was super pleased and there was no extra charge! I asked Ruben multiple times during the session if I could see the photos on his camera that he had just taken to see if I liked them and by doing so, I was able to tell him if there was something I wanted to change which helped put my anxious mind at ease!
On my wedding day Ruben was there along with his assistant Kim (She was incredible to work worth as well!) and they took some amazing pictures. I've only seen a few of the pictures from my wedding so far and I love every one of them! Like i mentioned, I am super picky and the fact that I love all of them so far, is really saying something!

The captured my special day more beautifully then I could ever imagine and I can't wait to see the rest!

Ruben did a great job with his assistant at our wedding. I was very happy with the pictures and how they came out. I had an uneven bridal party and he was very creative with the pictures to make them look good. I told him from the start that I didn't like goofy pictures and he made sure everything was more traditional. He was on time, stayed until I told him to leave, and answered all my e-mails and phone calls right away. I highly recommend him. Prices were very reasonable too for the area.

My new husband and I chose Ruben as our photographer based on the images he showed us in our first meeting. I must say that what we got was above an beyond what we expected. Not only was he (and his assistant Christine) punctual, but the were visibly happy to be there! They were both easy to work with and extremely friendly. Not only did they remember every photo we requested, but they also made suggestions to photos we should take, and those ended up being our favorite photos. Ruben even sent us a few photos 3 days after our event! We were absolutely blown away by his service and I would recommend is services to anyone I knew getting married.

Ruben was a great pleasure to work with during our wedding. He was professional, experienced, patient and responsive to all our needs. He did a wonderful job both with our engagement photos and during the wedding ceremony and reception. He also personally finished our photos which were absolutely beautiful. Ruben is a really great find. My husband and I were having a small outdoor wedding and wanted a professional photographer at a reasonable price. The cost of most photography companies in the DC area is absurd. Ruben instead provided his services, along with those of his assistant, at an extremely fair price without the typical wedding exploitation. We now have beautiful photography that grasped the moments before our wedding, caught the fine details of our ceremony, and vividly demonstrates the lush environment in which we were married. We are so pleased. I would absolutely recommend Ruben for professional wedding photography as well as for any other photographic needs that you may have.

Ruben is a photo-journalist that does weddings. His photos are artistic and he captures the magic/chemistry in moments. An engagement session was part of our package, it helped us become more comfortable in front of the camera and with Ruben, who is a little soft spoken but he knows what he is doing. We absolutely loved the engagement photos and decided to move forward with him as a wedding photographer. We were also very pleased with our wedding proofs

His services were affordable, he was punctual and professional, extremely responsive to all inquiries before, during, and after the wedding, worked seamlessly with our DJ to make sure he caught every moment. We provided him with a list of photos that we wanted to make sure he took and he was happy to oblige.

Ruben did an amazing job at our wedding. He communicated with us promptly and thoroughly leading up to the wedding. He's clearly a professional, and took charge of the wedding photographs. He listened carefully to what photos I wanted, made sure to capture them, and took some fun interesting shots I hadn't even thought of. Also, his value is outstanding. He charges a very reasonable price for the level of service and quality you get from his packages.

I had the pleasure of working with Ruben for my wedding this past weekend. Ruben was a true professional and made sure to capture every special shot of the day - from getting all of us getting ready to those candid moments at the ceremony and reception. Ruben brought along his assistant, Michelle, who was also a pleasure to work with. The package that we had selected also included an engagement session that we had completed last Fall - the photos taken that day came out absolutely gorgeous as well. Ruben was extremely detail oriented and very responsive whenever I needed to get ahold of him. I felt for the quality of services that we received, that Ruben's prices were extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend Ruben's services to anyone looking for wedding photography or any other special event.

My husband and I are very pleased with Ruben's work. He was very accommodating to our needs and was quick to respond whenever we emailed. Ruben has such a friendly personality that made it such a joy to work with him. During our engagement shoot Ruben had a clear vision and directed us in a way that made us feel at ease and confident in his capabilities. When I had an idea for a photo, Ruben had no issue with me taking the lead. He has the perfect balance of being direct yet adaptable to what the client wants. Our engagement photos were delivered quickly and turned out beautifully. Many wedding photographers charge an extra amount for an engagement session, but Ruben's was included in our standard package at no additional cost.

On the day of our wedding, Ruben showed up early and brought his assistant. He did an amazing job capturing all of the important moments throughout the day. He did a fabulous job of blending in and not being a distraction during the ceremony. After the wedding, we received the DVD of unedited photos very quickly. From the DVD we selected our 100 favorite photos to be edited. Ruben has been very accommodating to us throughout the editing process, going the extra mile to make sure we are happy with the final product.

Throughout my research in choosing a photographer, finding someone who met my high standards of quality but yet did not charge an arm and a leg, was nearly impossible. You will be hard pressed to find another photographer with Ruben's professionalism, high standard of quality, and reasonable prices. We are very pleased with Ruben's work and would recommend his services to any other engaged couples that we know.

My wife and I interfaced with several photographers before choosing Ruben. Check out his website for an idea of what his work looks like. He is a press photographer as well as a wedding photographer, so this gave us confidence that he would be able to capture fleeting moments at the ceremony and reception that we have seen many other photographers miss at other weddings. Our impressions with Ruben were right on, he captured amazing moments that went by very quickly as well as spectacular wedding party shots that are not your typical staunch posed formal types (although I’m sure he would accommodate that if you want it). We met with Ruben prior to the wedding for an engagement photo shoot and it was well worth it. We all got to know each other a bit and establish a rapport and comfortableness that was really great during the wedding. He was also highly flexible with our requests and accommodating with time issues if things ran long here or there. The end product was simply amazing, the work he does truly takes talent and we are so happy with the pictures we ended up with that captured so many great moments we will cherish forever. This photographer was the perfect choice for our wedding day. We live in Oklahoma and only came to town for a few days for the wedding. He was absolutely willing to work with us via phone and email to make all of the arrangements. We had an excellent experience with Ruben. He photographed our July 15, 2011 wedding in Harpers Ferry, WV. He arrived early to get all the pre-wedding shots and captured amazing images. We are so happy with our pictures. Another great thing that he offers is the engagement photo session where we familiarized ourselves with Ruben and his style. I am not great at posing for pictures, so the pre-wedding session was crucial for me to relax and and make my poses more natural. I believe having this opportunity to work with Ruben before the wedding made our wedding pictures amazing! Ruben is easy-going and professional at the same time. It was a pleasure to interact and work with him!

He goes above and beyond the typical wedding portraiture by using creative camera angles and carefully composed shots to get images with a very special beauty. Ruben is also a master of image post production. His editing starts with a great image, applies a few tasteful tweaks and the results are just fantastic. We found Ruben through an Internet search and decided to meet with him based on the positive online reviews. We signed him for our wedding because of his relaxed personality, beautiful portfolio and great price. Not only was Ruben the most affordable photographer in the DC area, but he gave us a free engagement photo shoot! We were able to receive our engagement photos before the wedding and used them for our invitations. Ruben was always timely in his correspondence with us--if we had questions or concerns, he addressed them right away in a professional manner. The day of our wedding, Ruben was professional and took the photos that we requested. He was exactly what we were looking for in a photographer: professional, affordable, relaxed and very easy to work with. His work was of superior quality even before he touched up the photos that we requested--the touched-up photos are absolutely beautiful! We would highly recommend Ruben for your photography needs.

Ruben is very professional. We wanted to go with someone who offers a premium service, without the premium prices and that's Ruben. He was early for our two photo sessions included in the basic package. He addressed all of our needs and concerns. He is very patient. He always responded promptly via email or phone when we were following up with him about our plans and after the wedding. He was there when we needed him for all the important shots at the wedding with good ideas for the poses. The photos came out very well and we appreciated the option to buy the digital images of his edits in the end, it was a great value! In a nutshell, if you want one of the best values for a professional photographer in and around DC, I doubt you can do better than Ruben! Thanks!!

On behalf of my husband and I we are writing this review to let others know of the superb work of Ruben's Photography for not only our wedding but our engagement photos as well. From the beginning Reuben had been patient with us when we had scheduling conflicts and was just an overall very professional individual. I would recommend his services to any who ask. We also got to meet (his assistant) the day of the wedding and like Reuben she did just an amazing job. We are grateful for your work in giving us precious memories that will last us a lifetime. What we mostly like about Ruben is his quick responsiveness to emails and phones calls. He's always on time and ready to do. He made us feel at ease during our engagement photo session. Excellent, professional photography.
We are very pleased with the quality and pricing of Mr. Gamarra's work. Both posed and candid photographs are wonderfully taken, and edited extremely well. Every moment, especially during the reception, was captured. The range of tone in the photographs are astounding; there were serious shots, fun shots, shots of people dancing, etc.
He was also very responsive to our (and our church's) concerns, especially regarding flash photography.
I would enthusiastically recommend his services to anyone seeking a photographer.

Ruben was great! We had so many pictures of times we didn't even realize he was there. Watching our homemade wedding videos you could see him walking around during the ceremony but none of us even noticed at the time. I wish I had more pics of the guests but I hadn't told him that was what I wanted. He did everything else we asked from him. All of our edited pictures came out great..he really does unique things with the colors. I have never been that photogenic but I can't really find even one picture I didn't like out of the 900 he took that day!

Ruben is awesome. Very professional. He has an eye for unique poses. He is sneaky, you hardly notice him taking pictures, but then you get a dvd in the mail with 600+ photos. On top of the awesome photos he personalizes 80 of them for you. Just Check out his site, his work should speak for itself. You may even see me on there soon.

After reviewing Ruben's portfolio online, my fiance and I were very impressed with the quality of his work and the lovely moments that he captured. We met with him at his studio, he accommodated our time schedule, and took time to get to know us, show us more of his portfolio, and find out what services we were looking for in a photographer. The total hours that he was willing to work at our wedding, the number of total photos taken, the number of edited photos and the options for prints and photobooks were very reasonably priced, and in fact his pricing was among the most affordable we had come across. On the day of the wedding, he was on time, brought all of his equipment as well as an assistant, took "getting ready photos," formal photos, photos at the ceremony site and then more at the reception venue. Overall, he was professional, friendly, and the final product was terrific!! The photos were beautiful, and he captured all the right moments. I would enthusiastically recommend him to anyone. We are so impressed by Rubens artistic eye! He captured so many details of our Wedding. We had an outside wedding by the water and the weather was wonderful. I feel so good to have chosen Ruben for many reasons; He was easy to work with when we asked for certain pictures we wanted. He managed to be unobstrusive during the ceremony and reception but also visible enough when we needed him. I highly recommend the coffe table album. Quality is great!
We'll forever thank you for working so hard that day and capturing so many wonderful moments!

My daughter and I saw Ruben's website and were pleased with his website gallery and with the prices of the wedding packages. Ruben responded immediately to all our emails and phone calls, he was always professional, courteous, and was ready to accommodate our wishes.
On the wedding day, Ruben arrived well before the ceremony, made sure we knew he had arrived and then, after that, my husband and I were hardly aware of Ruben's presence in the Church. The wedding was in a Catholic Church and Ruben discreetly positioned himself during the ceremony and didn't distract from the reverence and sanctity of the rite. Even our guests didn't seem to be aware of a photographer. This was in sharp contrast to another photographer who we had contracted for our eldest daughter's wedding and who was disruptive during both the ceremony and reception. Ruben quietly and professionally did his job. It was wonderful.
The photographs turned out beyond our expectations, each one with such beautiful color, composition, and lovely natural looking poses. Everyone who has seen the photographs comment on the beautiful pictures and the wonderful romantic feel to them. Ruben finished the photographs quickly so we were all able to enjoy the wedding photos soon after.
I can't say enough about Ruben's skill as a photographer, as an artist, and as a businessmen. Any bride and groom would be lucky to have Ruben as their photographer, he exceeds all expectations. We highly recommend Ruben.

My husband and I highly recommend Ruben as a wedding photographer. We are very happy with our pictures. The quality and pricing of his packages are tremendous. In addition to coming away with amazing pictures, we learned a lot about posing during the engagement photo shoot. By our wedding day it was like we had worked with Ruben for years and everything went smoothly. He listened and provided us with the shots we wanted, along with some unique pictures Ruben put together with his creative eye. There are even some amazing candid shots that rate as some of our favorites from the wedding.

Ruben has an extensive knowledge of wedding venues and picture locations in the area. This proved to be extremely important with a tight time schedule and ensuring compliance with venue regulations. With Ruben on our side, we never worried. Most of all we found Ruben to be very professional and reliable. When questions arose, he always responded in a timely fashion. Ruben fit seamlessly in with our wedding plans and he relieved a portion of the wedding planning stress.

I am highly impressed with Ruben's work. The style is very unique and artistic. The price is also a bargain given the quality of work produced. Working with him was a great pleasure, too. He was very professional in everything he did, and even guided us a bit for some of the cake-cutting shots when we had no clue what to do. He always responded promptly to our emails, and was very flexible in meeting our needs. I would highly recommend him.

Ruben photographed my wedding on August 20, 2011 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. I sought Ruben out because all the other photographers I had found had wedding packages starting at $2000. I had a strict budget to maintain, and I was able to get a great wedding photo package with Ruben's Photography for $1200.

Ruben is very professional, responsive, and flexible. His quality of photography is definitely above average as well. I would definitely recommend Ruben to any friend or family member.

Ruben and his assistant were great - they took some very creative photos and fitted in with our changing schedule (due to weather), coming up with some great shots at Union Station in DC. After the event Ruben providing us with two DVDs of all the photos and we were very happy with the results.

We absolutely loved working with Ruben. His prices were in our range and lower than almost everyone else in the area.. especially for the value. We got a complimentary engagement session, which we loved because it gave us the opportunity to get to know his style befor the actual wedding. He had creative poses for us and shot literally everything. We didn't pay attanetion to where he was most of the time, but our friends and family said that he was capturing everything that was going on. I would definitely recommend Ruben!

I helped orchestrate an engagement for my boss's daughter. Unfortunately, he neglected to hire a photographer and asked me to do so 3 days before the event. I found Ruben at on wedding wire at the very last minute. He was avaialble and very affordable. He was excellent with keeping in contsant communication and my boss stated he got some very lovely memorable shots. I highly recommend. Thanks Ruben!

I am so glad we went with Ruben for our photos! We didn't have a huge budget for photography and went with his "Basic" package - which meant we only had 6 hours with him, so we had planned to forgo any "getting ready" shots. Well guess what? He arrived super early because he didn't want me to miss out on those pictures, took some candids and props photos (shoes, rings, etc.), and was even ready to start the formal pictures ahead of schedule! In addition, he was always calm, professional, and curteous, even when things got hectic. He got all of the pictures we requested, plus lots more. Trust him if he's working with you - I didn't want to take one of the shots he suggested, but now it's one of my favorite pictures. My husband isn't artistic at all and didn't "get" his style when posing, but now agrees that he couldn't have asked for better pictures.

There were a few photos we were looking forward to that didn't turn out as well as we would have liked - some blurry nighttime shots we can't use, and the cake cutting pictures are a little off. I also wish we had more options for the edited prints included with our package. But in general we love the pictures we received (over 900 of them)! I pined over photos from $5K photographers, but didn't spend anywhere near that and am still quite happy. There is no better value than Ruben, I truly believe we could have spent way more and gotten way less. Also, I don't think his website does him justice, so definitely ask to see more of his photos. If you're looking for a photographer without the inflated prices, Ruben should absolutely be on your list!

Ruben is a very calm and easy person to work with...he went with the flow. Ruben took many great photos of the ceremony, and of all the guests. Not a lot of cameo photos taken, but he did tell us that from the start.

Ruben Photography was wonderful in assisting with our photography needs for our wedding. Mr. Ruben Gama worked with both of us, in producing beautiful images for our engagement and wedding photos. He came to our location for the engagement pictures, and he allowed us to have fun, and enjoy. I just remember smiling a lot, and kicking up my legs at times! He did a fabulous job with our wedding album, that was finished with the printing and binding of the album done in Italy. I recommend Mr. Ruben Gama for your wedding needs.

The quality of the photos were fantastic and I absolutely loved Rubens Assistant. However there were a few things that I did not like. First thing is that my wedding was at a location Ruben had never shot so it would have been beneficial to us all if he would of scouted the venue beforehand like we requested because the day of the wedding we wasted time trying to figure it out. Another thing was when I went to go pick up my photos he did not make sure that the right photos came back from the printer and my 16x20 were of Another couple so I had to wait and make a second trip. My biggest issue was in the middle of the wedding while guest were starting to eat his assistant came to the head table and asked if she could eat and I told her yes not realizing that Ruben had already started to eat, so a lot of pictures were taken by my guest because at that time because we could not locate Ruben

Please save your money and your time and hire someone else who is going to stick to plans and act more professionally with his customers!!!! We had our wedding on 8/12/2017 and Ruben was initially motivated and responsive when we first hired him for the wedding event. He even sent proofs within two weeks after the wedding. He asked us to pick 80 images of our liking to have edited as part of our wedding package contract and that he would return them within two weeks. We waited for the agreed upon two weeks window then reached out to him by text messages and he did not respond. My husband and I reached out to him several times and he didn't respond. So I decided to call him and leave him a voice message explaining that we are unhappy with his behavior and that he has not been sticking to the deadline. He responded via text saying he was busy with another assignment and he will get us our edited pictures within two weeks. Another three weeks has passed and this man has not sent us any edited pictures back. The pictures that he took of me and my hubby were not what I envisioned for my wedding but its a done deal now. All we want is our damn edited pictures or if he is not up to the challenge, he needs to refund us our money for the promised edited images ASAP!!!!

We got married over a year ago. We received proofs pretty early on, but did not hear anything on the rest of the package (photo editing, prints, and an album). My husband has been calling him daily for months, getting responses sporadically, but no commitment. In September 2015, I emailed him again, in which he said it would be two weeks for our product. He has not answered calls or emails since.

We do not consider ourselves photogenic. We were not necessarily happy with the pictures to begin with, but did not expect much. We requested our photos to be taken before the wedding, which was ignored, and requested that the pictures be almost entirely posed pictures with our family members we rarely get to see. Our requests were completely ignored, our pictures weren't great, and we haven't gotten the SERVICE WE PAID FOR AFTER OVER A YEAR. Not to mention, he was by no means cheap.

I hired this photographer because of his photojournalistic style, past work examples, and price. We liked Ruben a lot when we interviewed him. On the day of our wedding, he was running late and sent an assistant, and said he would be there by the reception. The person he sent took formal pictures (one shot of each - so there are few good ones where everyone is smiling/not looking awkward). Ruben himself never showed up, and the assistant started asking to leave a few hours in to the reception. I had instructed him earlier to take a bunch of candid shots of the guests, especially of the children (who were so cute in their dress clothes). When we got the pictures back, there were zero pictures of the kids, and very few candid shots, and most of them were blurry. We were very very disappointed. Ruben tried to make things right after the fact, but it was too late. Now, everytime I go to a wedding and see the paid photographer snapping away, I get furious all over again.

This is the worst photographer you can ever hire for a simple engagement photoshoot. I worked with him on engagement pictures to test and see whether his work online on his website really matches up to what he does in reality.
He is so fake, please girls I would ask you to beware of vendors like him, he is so fake. He literally showed me model pictures online and asked me and my fiance to model like that. So unoriginal.
When you first visit his website you will blown by his work, I now wonder whether what he posted was really his work or not. He did not even edit the pictures he took, he only says that he will edit six or seven out of 200 pictures he clicks. and when he edits he only adds some blackish tinges to the image and emails it back to you.
The fellow will barely talk and is pure trash. I was not upset at his work but furious, he is the first photographer who will do his best to click your most unflattering angles- closed eyes, fake postures, awkward smiles and double chin and other other disastrous photographs.

I RECOMMEND THAT YOU FIND ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPHER AND NOT RUBEN, I DOUBT HE EVEN UNDERSTANDS ENGLISH TO REPRESENT WHAT YOU AS A CLIENT ARE EXPECTING IN A PROFESSIONAL PHOTO-SHOOT.
