Incredible experience with Roots & Flavors!
We cannot recommend Roots & Flavors enough! From start to finish, Chef Jose was absolutely incredible. He was timely, thoughtful, organized, and so genuinely kind throughout the entire process. Planning an event can be stressful, but he made everything feel seamless and easy. He truly listened to our vision and went above and beyond to accommodate our personalized food requests, making sure every detail reflected what we wanted.
And the food — WOW. It was hands down the best catered food we’ve ever had. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The true testament? My Indian mom — who is an exceptional cook herself and not easily impressed — could not stop praising his food. She kept saying how perfectly balanced the flavors were and how thoughtfully everything was prepared. Coming from her, that’s the highest compliment possible!
Beyond his culinary talent, Chef Jose has such a warm heart and positive energy. He is professional yet personable, and so pleasant to work with. You can tell he genuinely cares about his clients and takes pride in his craft.
If you are considering catering for any event, do yourself a favor and book Roots & Flavors. You will not be disappointed! -

Jose catered a dinner for my and my fiancé's joint bachelor trip - the logistics were not easy, with 12 of us flying in from out of town and staying in an Airbnb. Jose was very easy to work with, planning a menu that accommodated vegan and vegetarian guests, and updating the price when we had some last minute number changes. The evening-of, Jose dropped the dinner off on time and in disposable containers. Everything was delicious (esp. the tres leches cake!) and we had leftovers for the rest of the trip. Could not recommend more highly. -

We used Roots and Flavors for an event that we held in Puerto Rico, and they did a fantastic job. The food was beautifully presented, fresh and well cooked. The company is easy to work with and handles all requests professionally. We only had positive comments on the food and the service. I would not hesitate to recommend them for an event. -

Before I get to the success of the wedding itself let me say that Gladys and Charlie were great advisors in the planning process. I coordinate corporate events for a living but not weddings and I know that there is a huge difference especially when it is your own wedding. Gladys and Charlie were right there always offering solutions that really made sense and were in our best interest.
On the day of the wedding when we arrived at the venue under pouring rain we did not know what to expect. The rain stopped then everything started to pull together. Later when everything started and we saw the waiters, the attention to the guests, and their reactions to the rich food I felt a satisfaction and tranquility.
Guests raved that the food was exquisite, "Wow, perfection"!!! The service was professional with a perfect flow and timing, and we sincerely felt so lucky to have so much attention to detail and felt the passion and importance Roots & Flavors placed in making our day spectacular. There are no words to thank them for everything they did for us on that special day.

Highly recommend!!! The only decision you should make regarding catering is Gladys Pimentel from Roots & Flavors, Inc.! As a New York Rican, going to Puerto Rico every summer as my summer camp I can attest the food was AMAZING, AUTHENTIC, PLENTIFUL and BEAUTIFULY DISPLAYED! Our wedding was small and most of the guest were “Norte Americanos”, they are still talking about the food especially the Roast Pig! Gladys made sure every detail was on point. She is very professional, flexible, and dedicated to her craft and it shows. At the end of the evening, she personally came to us and asked if our vision, our dream came true and then proceeded to thank us for using Roots & Flavors. Seriously! Now for the Servers, one word OUTSTANDING! She made sure we had a dedicated server who made sure we had a taste of everything including encouraging us to sit and enjoy the appetizers, the dinner, and the coffee bar with cookies! All of it was completely delicious and worth every single penny! Just make sure to ask for a take away plate to eat later LOL! Service was amazing and they were very responsive! The food was AMAZING! My wedding was small but did not matter because the food that was given was WAY MORE THEN ENOUGH! All of it was completely delicious and even our cake was delicious as well! Worth every single penny! Service was amazing and they were very responsive! Definitely recommend then for your PR wedding! -

Amazing Experience!
We couldn't be happier with the quality of food, service and decor from Roots & Flavors, Inc. The event was an amazing experience. The food was delicious, plentiful and nicely displayed. The service was outstanding including taking care of a few guests with dietary restrictions. The decor was beautiful. Gladys and her team were delightful to work with. It's so refreshing to know we were in good hands! Gladys was professional, flexible and dedicated! We couldn't be happier with her suggestions on the buffet selections including the dessert bar! Our guests took so many pictures of the food and decor. We're still getting rave reviews from the guests and many said it was their best experience! Thank you for making our event a memorable occasion! Amazing! -

Gladys menu was so impressive. I have a gluten allergy and she was able to make many things gluten free. Her waitstaff was amazing. We had a waitress just for us, the bride and groom, all night and the service was outstanding. Many of our guest agreed. The food was excellent and the pig roast was a great touch. The price was right .. Hiring Gladys was worth every penny! The people of PR have great passion, talent and creativity and it truly shows in there products and services. We live in Connecticut and were having our destination wedding at Hacienda Sieste Alegre. Based off of reviews and suggestions from staff, we chose to sit down and have a tasting with a couple of caterers. We traveled to Puerto Rico for 5 days to finalize our wedding details in March for a November 1st wedding. Gladys (Roots n Flavors) was our first tasting. We set it up for her to meet us at the Hacienda while we toured the location. Right from the beginning Gladys and her staff blew us away. The food at the tasting was great, and her overall nurturing attitude was comforting. You can tell she has been doing this a long time and that speaks for itself. We felt an immediate connection and decided to cancel the other tastings, leaving us with time to enjoy the island. Throughout the months that followed my wife tweaked the menu numerous times and Gladys was easy going and accommodated all request under a very busy schedule. The day of our wedding was magical. The food was OUTSTANDING and the service exceeded our expectations. I come from a big Puerto Rican family that has several respected cooks, my wife being among them. I had family there from Puerto Rico as well. They all agreed that the service and food was top notch. You will not regret working with Roots and Flavors. People are still talking about her carrot cake we chose for our wedding cake and the Sancocho she made at the end of the night. We even got told by Gladys to let her know next time we are on the island to come over for dinner. Roots and Flavors was not cheap, but she worked with our budget and was worth every penny. We are so happy we went with Roots as our destination-wedding caterer for our wedding at the Hacienda Siesta Alegre. The process from start to finish was so easy and it was a pleasure to work with Gladys. Between multiple phone calls and e-mail exchanges, Gladys always responded timely and worked with us to create the perfect menu. She used her expertise to offer suggestions, which was greatly appreciated. Gladys made a point to keep in touch with us throughout our wedding planning process and ensured everything was all set. We also went with the small wedding cake option through Roots that I’ve included a picture of (our florist was able to add a flower to it) and it was just perfect and one less thing for us to worry about! On the day of the wedding, there was no stress, as I knew Gladys would ensure everything was just as we wanted. The food was AMAZING and the service exceeded our expectations. Being a bride, the servers went above and beyond to ensure I ate too You will not regret choosing Roots – highly recommend! -

We were so happy to book with Roots & Flavors. From the beginning, it was our favorite menu. We hesitated to book since we were on a budget, but Gladys really worked with us to make her service a possibility. She even added in a late night asopao (traditional soup). All the food was delicious. I would say traditional yet elevated Puerto Rican food. All the staff were so professional and polite. They really made us feel special. Our guest raved about the food. Gladys was a pleasure to work with as well. I highly recommend her services. -

Amazing Experience!!!
My name is Bianca Jusino, and Gladys at Roots and Flavors has been working with me for more than 2 years on my wedding menu! Gladys and her professional staff made it a point to keep in contact throughout our two year wedding process. She called us directly and spent hours helping us choose the perfect choices of food and desserts for our loving guests. She worked with our ever changing budget after the tragic hurricane in Puerto Rico and let me tell you, our wedding was not affected at all, why because of the professionalism and love that went into every detail that Gladys and her employees placed on our day!! Our guests raved about not only the taste, elegant decor and staging of the array of typical and delicious entrees. Gladys was there for the event , and made sure each detail was as discussed.. She was recommended over and over and she deserves all the acclamation's and more!!!! We will use her for family functions from now !!our guests raved about this wedding for months!!!!!! pictures will be posted as soon as our photographer sends us them.. words give it nit justice... Great food, great service! Very highly recommended!
everything else on the menu. We requested a flan, in lieu of a wedding cake, and it was spectacular; delicious and beautifully presented. Definitely don’t miss out on Gladys’ flan! She made a large one for us to cut and mini flans for our dessert table.
When we were back in town, this past Christmas, Gladys was kind enough to make us a flan as our unofficial “anniversary cake”. It was just as amazing as we had remembered.
Gladys and her team are friendly, professional, easy to communicate with, and incredibly talented. Consider this a glowing review from both a mainlander (Natalie) and as a local who knows the taste of authentic Puerto Rican food (Joe). Definitely hire Gladys and her team at Roots and Flavors! -

Food is extremely important for my husband and I and we can honestly say that Roots & Flavors absolutely delivered! I left happy the guests left happy it was the focal point of many conversations that evening and even days later! The only complaint I have is that I couldn’t stuff my face more with there delicious food! I highly recommend them for weddings and or events! They are on the pricy side but worth absolutely every penny!

Everyone at the wedding talked about how amazing the food was! We requested Puerto Rican - Caribbean menu with Indian appetizers. The taste and presentation of plates was superb. Roots & flavors just happened to be the first caters we met after choosing our dream venue. Learning that they cooked the entire meal on premises was enough to have us hooked. Roots and Flavors was highly recommended by our venue, Hacienda Siesta Alegre. From the very first time I spoke to Gladys, I knew that we wanted her catering services for our destination wedding. Not only did she have phenomenal reviews, but years of experience and a passion for what she does. She worked with us from beginning to end to plan our buffet style menu for 100 people, taking into consideration our budget and dietary restrictions among many other things. She was also supportive in other areas and provided recommendations for different vendors. We planned a trip from Florida to Puerto Rico for a tasting about 6 months before the wedding. Meeting Gladys face-to-face, the professionalism of her team, and the food we sampled gave us peace of mind that we were making the right choice. For dessert, we had a beautiful naked cake, flan, chocolate covered strawberries, and fresh fruit. Everything tasted great on the day of the wedding! We are so happy that we chose Roots and Flavors for our special day and would recommend them to any couple. -

There is so much that I can say about Gladys and Roots and Flavors. Gladys has her work down to an absolute science. She worked with me extensively on the menu and crafted an experience exactly to what we had imagined. All of our guests raved about the food, that included a suckling pig and a dessert table that blew our minds with variety. The venue we chose (Hacienda Siesta Alegre) loves to work with Roots and Flavors as well, so that is always a good sign. The tables of the buffet were beautifully decorated and well staffed with kind and attentive people. The day of the wedding, one of the servers, Ida Luyanda, was assigned just to us as the bride and groom which was such a nice touch. Ida really impressed me with her sweetness and care. If you hire Roots and Flavors, everything will be done as you asked, the food will be absolutely delicious and you won't have to worry about a thing! Absolutely the best choice we could have made. Gladys and her team are incredibly kind, professional, and know how to cook it up! I choose Gladys specifically because I wanted a vendor that could balance my dietary restrictions (gluten) with my expectations and my goal of honoring my heritage through classic Puerto Rican dishes.
Gladys was very patient and understanding and truly made our event unforgettable. I still dream of her pan de yuca, her flan, and all the appetizers she made for us. All our guests were BEGGING us for the recipe to her bread - which is typically passed over at most weddings.
I'm so thankful I chose her to cater our wedding. Her waiters were so attentive the entire night and made sure our requests were met, notified us when food was served, and were very accommodating when we had some unexpected guests.
Thank you Gladys & team for your hard work, attentiveness, and delicious food!!! I will be dreaming about it for years to come. -

The food buffet was out of this world and had everything you could ask for from fresh veggies to paella to pig on a spit! She does not respond right away since she is requested constantly, but if you pick Roots and Flavors, you will get top notch service coupled with amazing food and a great value! -

I was attempting to hire Jose for our wedding in May. we had to postpone the wedding and because of this have been in communication with him for over a year and a half. It was impossible to get a hold of him to get updated menus and quotes so that we could actually book him/put our deposit down. He would respond after a month of unanswered emails asking for a few more days to respond, and then would disappear for another month or two while we sent email after email asking for an idea of when we would even hear back. I am incredibly disappointed. The food looked and sounded amazing but we felt so disrespected with our timeline that we had to move on to another caterer that was willing to respond to us within the month. After a year and a half of headache, I was sad to have to start over my catering search this close to the wedding.
