Currey is the BEST!

Currey was probably the most wonderful person to work with during this whole process! She was super responsive and so friendly and helped us put together a menu that fit our wedding perfectly! We had a very small, intimate wedding and the food was amazing, the service was amazing, it was all just amazing! I would highly recommend Roadside Chive for all your catering services! Thank you so much Currey and team for making our day special!

The go-to caterer!

WOW! Currey and Danielle are just the greatest. In a whirlwind of a COVID wedding, we needed to hire a new caterer and they stepped up to the opportunity with only 3 weeks in advance. They worked with us on how to adapt to a socially distanced wedding while still being able to give the guests the same experience as a normal wedding. The bartenders were amazing and had started to memorize guests' drink of choice by the end of the night. The appetizers, salad, bread, and entree were so yummy - plus they made French macaron packets for the guests to munch on later! Danielle even bustled my dress when I really needed help. Hands-down the perfect caterer for our wedding at The Barn at Edgewood.

Pick Roadside Chive now!

We cannot say enough good things about Roadside Chive! Currey, Danielle, and the rest of the Roadside Chive staff were amazing. They were so knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire wedding process. Without their expertise, things would not have run as smoothly or been as beautiful. Not to mention, the food was absolutely AMAZING! We had so many comments after the wedding from guests letting us know how much they enjoyed the food. We have to give a special shoutout to Danielle, who was our day of coordinator. The entire day went off without a hitch thanks to her guidance and direction. We cannot say enough good things about Danielle and the ease at which was able to get our crazy friends and family in order. She thought of every single detail! She sent us home with a bride basket that included little bites of our entire menu which was an amazing late night snack! We cannot recommend Roadside Chive enough. They are the total package and so much fun to work with.

Amazing food and even better team

After my first call with Currey, I knew that Roadside Chive would be able to execute on the nearly vegetarian, cheese-filled, wedding of our dreams. But where RC far surpassed my expectations was in their execution and facilitation of our entire day. We booked our day of coordinator through Roadside Chive (Rachel), who was our saving grace for wrangling an overly excited wedding party, troubleshooting when one of our buses didn’t show up, and making corrections when timelines didn’t go according to plan. Danielle was a fantastic communicator, keeping my husband and I in the loop throughout the entire process and facilitating our extensive rentals list. Currey planned a fantastic menu for us with only a few notes and recommendations from us, capturing our food vision in just one round was no small feat for two big foodies. And, as a cheesemonger, when I requested to provide my own cheese, Roadside Chive was happy to accomodate and plate create a stunning cheese display. I cannot recommend Roadside Chive enough.

Delicious, Gluten free food, and incredibly knowledgeable staff!

Working with Currey, Danielle, and their whole team was a breeze! We immediately knew at our tasting that they were the caterer we wanted to go with. They had already worked with our venue many times before and were incredibly familiar with the staff, layout of the building, etc. They provided fantastic advice and assistance throughout the whole process.
Regarding the food, they put together a delicious, inspired, harvest-late-summer-early-fall menu. We loved it all, and got a lot of compliments from our wedding guests, so it was a hit! Since our wedding was at a cidery, they even gave us customized cider pairing ideas for each dish, which was a nice touch. We had requested a fully gluten free menu due to some family members having Celiac's disease, and it was just as good as if it had had gluten. A few other family members and friends had some very specific allergy requirements, and Roadside Chive came through with shining colors, taking care of everything. Their staff were very friendly, helpful, and flexible. They even sent us home with some leftovers, which was incredibly sweet and thoughtful. The entire experience was an incredibly positive one, and we are very grateful for their expertise and professionalism.

Amazing wedding experience by Roadside Chive

Working with Roadside Chive made my wedding planning process a million times easier and more enjoyable! I am incredibly thankful for the time and energy they put into creating a perfect wedding, from the delish food I still dream about to the million details that I didn't have to worry about day-of thanks to this amazing team. I am especially thankful for how Currey Fountain stepped up as a wedding planner when my mom was diagnosed with cancer halfway through my engagement. I can truly say that I could not have done it without Currey and her team.

Amazing food & service!

Let's just say it's August and we're STILL thinking about the outstanding catering services we received from Roadside Chive in late June!! Prior to the big day, we worked very closely with Currey and Danielle throughout our wedding planning and they are a phenomenal team. They nailed every. single. detail!! Oh...and the food?! There was so much preparation that went into helping us get the most perfect menu (especially considering we had to accommodate special needs/dietary restrictions) and on the day of the wedding, everything (and I mean everything) was SPOT. ON. The staff on site also endured extreme heat and rain and still managed to execute everything perfectly at our outdoor venue -- we were so so grateful! I really don't think the words exist to describe how delicious everything was and just how much we enjoyed the experience. Thanks so much Roadside Chive!! We look forward to the opportunity to work with you all again! :)

Excellent food, great team!

We were so thrilled to work with the Roadside Chive team for our wedding earlier this month. From the very beginning, Currey worked with us to design a menu that paid special attention to our personal tastes and dietary restrictions (The majority of my immediate family has celiac, including myself). Throughout planning, Currey and Danielle were just fun to work with - They shared our excitement when we had new design or style ideas for tables, offered suggestions when we wanted to create comfortable experiences for guests like a welcome champagne station, and were overall incredibly responsive, professional, and above all flexible. We needed to reschedule our wedding due to the threat of Hurricane Florence and were so worried about rebooking all of our vendor dream team, but Currey and Danielle put us at ease and made it work with their schedule. Day of, we were so impressed with how smoothly the whole team worked together and were so attentive to guests. And of course - the food. Guests were telling us this is the BEST wedding food they've ever had. I also loved how they embraced our signature cocktail, named after our cat, which was silly but important to us. They are just a blast to work with and you shouldn't hesitate to book them today!

We love rsc!

Working with Roadside Chive was an absolute dream. Currey and Danielle are so creative, organized, efficient, and as a bonus, kind & fun people!
Our initial meeting with Currey was so fun. She worked with us to choose a fresh, seasonal menu for our cocktail hour and dinner.
Danielle flawlessly handled the logistics. She was always just a phone call or an email away, and I trusted her implicitly to execute the evening perfectly.
Two weeks later, and our guests are still raving about the food - the quality, presentation, and flavors. Wedding / catered food can be so hit or miss, but RSC knocked it out of the park. Our guests especially loved the pulled pork sliders and the salmon. My favorite was the salad - so fresh and flavorful, and beautifully presented with bright slices of watermelon radish.
The onsite staff (bartenders, waitstaff, etc) were also phenomenal. They were such a fun group! Our guests loved chatting with them, and they provided such great service.
Cannot recommend this team enough!

Great Catering Service and Day of Coordinator!

Currey and Roadside Chive put together a terrific meal for us and our guests at our wedding. The food was absolutely delicious, and they were great with communication throughout the process. They also did a good job of meeting our gluten-free needs. Roadside Chive also provided our day-of coordinator, and we could not have been happier with Danielle’s work. She made put us at ease, took care of issues that came up, and made sure everything went smoothly. Thank you again to all at Roadside Chive!

Not enough words to describe how fantastic it was to work with this team!

Our venue provided us with a lengthy list of recommended vendors, and my husband and I reached out to several caterers that had excellent ratings. We were never really worried about finding a caterer that would provide us with good food, but Roadside Chive blew us away at every possible moment. From our first phone call, we knew they would be amazing. We explained on that call that I (the bride) and a couple other guests have gluten allergies and that I wanted to be able to eat everything. We noted though that my husbands' nephews would be invited and that they are at an age where they only eat bread. Currey immediately suggested a gluten free zucchini bread with honey butter. Yaaaaaas, because you know what, us gluten free gals love carbs too! Roadside worked closely with us to think through all our options while being mindful of what would keep us within our budget (including the cost of a day of coordinator and rentals!) and also what would taste the freshest while on the buffet. Our guests LOVED the food (including a celiac friend who raved to us that, "This was NOT wedding food, this was fine dining!!"). Our venue required us to have a day of coordinator and although we were initially nervous about the expense, it was by far the best decision ever (we've since recommended having a day of coordinator to all of our friends getting married). Danielle was our day of coordinator and she was simply amazing. She was incredibly organized, upbeat, and excited about our plans every time we met. Planning a wedding is no easy feat, and Danielle kept us stress-free, relaxed, and well-fed (she had appetizers and drinks prepared for us in the bridal suite right after the ceremony). Danielle and her team made sure everything was set up for the day--including moving plants from our venue's nursery to the ceremony and reception spaces, setting up our table seating cards, and making everything look so amazing. We cannot thank Danielle and Currey enough for all they did to make our day special!

We could not love Roadside Chive more.

Currey, Danielle, and their team are the most incredible caterers I've ever worked with. I used to plan wedding industry events in a prior job, so I knew right away that I wanted to talk to Roadside Chive about our wedding catering. My partner and I had a somewhat unique event in mind: a wedding brunch instead of dinner. Currey was completely on board from the get-go. We wanted for our vegan friends and family to be able to have a full brunch, but we didn't want our meat-and-dairy-loving parents to care that some of the food they were eating was vegan! Currey completely understood where we were coming from and she created an incredible menu: chicken and waffle skewers, baked french toast with praline crunch and berry compote (vegan), plus lots of sides (bacon, sausage, a delicious seasonal salad, breakfast potatoes). Danielle, our event coordinator, is the most incredible person and frankly, I miss emailing her every week. When our event rental company sent the wrong color linens over the day before our event, Danielle was the one who jumped into the back of their truck in the cold rain to retrieve the right color tablecloths. We didn't have a wedding planner, but between Danielle, her team, and our photographer, everything went perfectly. The whole crew who came out on our wedding day were so kind, helpful, and efficient. Our wedding was in our back yard on a wet, wet morning, and they were so respectful of our space! Thinking back on our experience with Roadside Chive brings tears to my eyes. They really made our wedding celebration special and we can't thank them enough.

Menu Dreams Come True

We wanted a vegetarian menu and were told Roadside Chive was the the place to contact and we were very happy with the results. My husband had a vision of a menu with fall flavors for our October wedding and actually got emotional at the tasting because it fit his vision so well. Currey was great to work with and put my mom at ease when we decided to change from all vegetarian to including chicken a few months out. The vegetarian lasagna was amazing and had even the most staunch meat-eaters drooling at the reception.

I would do it all over again!!

Currey and staff were a dream to work with from the moment I contacted her in August to our wedding in November. We were planning a wedding in a city where none of us lived on a friend's farm. Currey held our hand every step of the way. She and her staff were fun to work with and the tasting was one of most fun things we did. We had a cold November day (tents were heated) and there was no grumbling - everyone was so professional. The manager on site (Anna ?) just about predicted my every need. The food was unbelievable. People are still talking about the pumpkin bread!! I would do it all over again!! They partner with Gibson Rentals. Mike and his team were also fantastic.

"Best Wedding Food Ever" - Our Wedding Guests

Curry and her team (especially Danielle) were absolutely amazing! They were so responsive, full of great ideas and open to suggestions. They were honest as far as what we could cut or should skip to keep our budget to a minimum. I really felt like they pulled my whole wedding together. Guests said that this was the best food that they have ever had at a wedding and I couldn't agree more. If I could do it all over again, I would still choose them. RSC is amazing!

When we first met Currey we knew she was the one for us. She was so sweet and fun and we could tell we would be well taken care of with her. She was forgiving with my constant questions and menu changes and her team did an amazing job of keeping me organized and taken care of. Currey and Danielle worked flawlessly to coordinate our rentals with Beggars Banquet and Gibson so that I didn’t have to do any of that leg work. The food was delicious, and she even took a family recipe of ours and nailed it! Her waitstaff and bartenders were professional and friendly and we got rave reviews on the whole show.

Now for the best part.. Ashley Kovach was provided to us through Roadside Chive as our day of coordinator. This was the best decision we could have made for our wedding. She reached out early on to check in and gather preliminary details and then checked in every now and then to make sure I was calm and that everything was going smoothly. As the weeks winded down she did an amazing job of organizing all my thoughts and even wrangling all of my vendors for me to confirm and make sure they were on the same page. She ran rehearsal with a not so easy family like a champ and took all of my miscellaneous décor and did a beautiful job of bringing it all together with zero direction from me. I was able to sit back on the morning of and relax and enjoy my day and she communicated just enough to keep me sane but not be a bother. She would send me pictures to double check things and it just put me right at ease. Our wedding day was FLAWLESS. If something went wrong, we didn’t know about it! She did an amazing job of keeping us as close to our timeline as she could and worked great with our other vendors. She checked in on us to make sure we were doing ok, made sure I had a drink, and even made our plates for us so we didn’t have to visit the buffet. 5 stars to Ashley and Roadside Chive!!

Roadside Chive went the extra mile for our wedding!

Currey, Danielle, and the Roadside Chive staff was the best decision we made when booking vendors. Currey was on the phone with my mother from the very beginning and thanks to her we found other vendors we came to love! She made great suggestions for people in the area, which was life saving when planning a wedding from afar! We had a lot of food allergies to accommodate on our wedding day, Currey and her staff were incredible at ensuring those considerations were taken into place and those with food allergies had food to eat that wasn't different from what everyone else was eating. So a lot of our guests were served gluten free items or vegan items or dairy items and guess what... the food was so good no one ever knew!! We got many compliments at how amazing our catering team was and I couldn't agree more! Currey and her team felt like family during this planning process and took all our questions and concerns and put them to ease! She made our dreams of a cake buffet and our Pittsburgh Cookie table come to life! Her staff is wonderful, so professional, so helpful, and very accommodating! We also used Roadside Chive's day of wedding planner, Danielle, and words cannot describe how amazing she was! Danielle made things happen quickly, efficiently, and seamlessly. As the bride and groom we had not a care in the world except living out every moment of our wedding day together! I was a carefree bride thanks to Danielle! We didn't have to worry about anything or anyone, Danielle had everything under control and had everyone in place where they needed to be! All in all Roadside Chive was pretty awesome with their attention to detail, the quality of food, and their support in the planning process and execution!

Beyond satisfied with the catering, setup, breakdown, staff, and planning that Currey and her team achieved. Currey was so extremely helpful throughout my entire wedding planning process. I planned from across the country and she had every single detail for the day taken care of from floor plan to rentals. Her staff were extremely professional and attentive! The food was stunning, delicious and fresh. LOVED everything about their services. I can't say enough good things about Roadside Chive. We used Roadside Chive for our wedding in March 2018. We had a cocktail reception with heavy appetizers for roughly 40 people. We knew that we wanted poutine at our wedding, which they accommodated, but other than that, we chose from suggestions that they made. Everything was delicious! At the end of the night, they packed up a little basket of food for the two of us to bring back to our hotel with us, which was so thoughtful! I don't know if this is normal, but they also left the rest of the leftovers at the venue for us to pick up the next day, which we weren't expecting but really appreciated.

Roadside Chive catered our wedding, provided staff for our welcome party, and arranged our day-of wedding coordinator (Rachel Shamey). All of the above were awesome! Currey and Danielle were so fun to work with, and very helpful in preparing a menu for the marriage of a vegetarian to an avid meat eater. We had buffet stations with a large variety of small bites, and everything was delicious - I wish I had gotten to eat more of it. Although our wedding was last fall, I'm still hearing rave reviews about the meal when I catch up with our wedding guests. Great food, great price, great people - what more could you want!

Currey and her team are just incredible in every way. Currey literally became my wedding planner (especially when the real wedding planner went MIA for a month or so, ah!) and helped with every single question my mom, my dad and my partner and I had throughout the year. She was a trooper with all our inquiries but always responsive and accommodating. Currey is easygoing and a pleasure to work with. The food was incredible. Everyone keep saying this wasn't "wedding food" and how delicious everything was, from the appetizer to the meal. She also helped create our couple's cocktail which wasn't so simple-old fashion with housemade cherries. I would recommend Roadside Chive to anyone that needs wonderful food and service. Cannot thank her and her team for making my wedding day so special.

Roadside Chive Catering & Events were an absolute pleasure to work with! On our initial call, we were thrilled that Currey took the time to really understand our vision for our wedding day, our favorite foods, and family traditions. She then came up with an amazing custom menu that only required a few tweaks when we met in-person for the first time. We loved everything at the menu tasting, even the fresh nectarine and corn salad which they went our of their way to prepare for us wayyy before nectarines were in season. Currey was always responsive to our questions via email and attended our final walk-through at the venue to confirm our layout since her team also set up all ceremony and reception tables and chairs. On the day of the wedding, Danielle and the Roadside Chive team executed everything flawlessly. Danielle kept our 140 guests organized as they went through the buffet, and all of the servers were courteous. Many guests complimented the friendly service. Our food was FANTASTIC. The mango chutney and parsley chimichurri sauce for falafel and Indian-spiced potato rolls were two of my favorites. We were also impressed that the thinly sliced cilantro lime grilled chicken breasts stayed moist and tender. The fresh nectarine, corn and arugula salad was refreshing and perfect for the hot weather. Thank you so much for everything, Currey, Danielle, and the whole Roadside Chive team!

Currey and her team at Roadside Chive created the most elegant, delicious and beautiful meal for our wedding. All of the food was fantastic, and our guests were very pleased and satisfied! Currey was a delight to work with-- she is extremely talented, patient, and responsive to our requests and desires. Not only that, Currey is a true pro- she had wonderful recommendations and helped connect us to other wedding vendors. Currey is the real deal and her team is top notch. All the servers were courteous and professional, and pulled of the entire wedding party very smoothly! We also had the pleasure of working with Danielle Johnson, from Roadside Chive, who helped us as a "day of planner". Danielle was FANTASTIC. She swooped in before the wedding and took the reins so that we could relax and enjoy our wedding day. She coordinated the vendors and set up, and made sure the overall timeline of the wedding and meal were maintained. I was confident knowing that Danielle would take care of the details and last minute calls/tasks on the day of the wedding. Roadside Chive absolutely blew us away. If you do not hire them, you aren't trying hard enough to have a memorable and affordable wedding. Everything from start to finish was exceptional. Currey helped us every step of the way. We loved that they do not have a set menu. After a short meeting with Currey, she put together what she thought we would want, and it was spot on. The one thing with our wedding that we never stressed with at all was the catering.

Currey gave the appearance that everything would be taken care of, down to the details we weren't even thinking of. They executed even above these expectations the day of. The staff showed up on time, was charming, and of course the food was amazing. By far the best food I have ever had at a wedding.

We can honestly say that our wedding would not have been as good as it was without Currey and her team at Roadside Chive. We received tons of compliments about the food, and even the friendliness of the staff

Roadside Chive was the caterer for our daughter and new son-in-law's wedding at the Market at Grelen on June 24, 2017. I cannot praise Roadside Chive enough (Currey Fountain, Danielle, and all the staff). The food was delicious, the setup was done perfectly, and ALL the staff involved were so professional, but friendly and helpful to all our guests. Our day of wedding coordinator, Rachel Shamey, who was provided to us through Roadside Chive, was excellent and helped to make the wedding run smoothly.

We started our journey with Roadside Chive back in September 2016. From the beginning, Currey Fountain, the owner, was fun to work with, so helpful and accommodating to me in the planning process, and always upbeat and offering great ideas. Our tasting was so much fun! The details of the event (from tables to linens) were handled beautifully by Roadside Chive (working with Gibson Rental and Beggars Banquet); and on the day of the event, everything looked gorgeous! The food was wonderful and presented in such a lovely way.

I highly recommend Roadside Chive to anyone planning a wedding or event in the Orange/Charlottesville, VA area. They helped to make our daughter's wedding a stunning event, and I would use them again in a heartbeat!

We hired Roadside chive as our caterer for our wedding in June 2017. From the first day we were in contact with Currey and Danielle to the actual wedding, it was such a seamless and actually fun process! We did a tasting of our menu and absolutely LOVED how delicious it all was and how accommodating Currey, Danielle and their team were. Not only was the food tasty but on the actual day of the wedding they helped with so much coordination of moving around tables, setting up decor or whatever we needed. Hire Roadside Chive, period. Okay, working with Currey and her Roadside Chive was such an exceptional experience! We reached out to Roadside Chive about 10 months before the wedding, and immediately got response from Currey and followed by proposed menu and estimates. The initial consultation on the menu gave me a strong feeling that Currey really cared her customers. No matter how little the suggestion or concern I made, she always recommended something even better, always beyond my expectations. But we did not make the final decision until tasting where we found that food was so delicious and beautifully presented, Currey and her team were so well prepared and listened to our requirements, moreover, she thought and planned from our perspective to save us money. Currey had all the great characteristics of running a wedding catering company—professional, experienced, efficient, organized, responsive, details-focused, patient, etc. She took care of all my questions and suggestions promptly and made sure they were well documented in the proposal, which eased the whole planning process so much! Currey and the team did much much beyond food and beverages, e.g., they took care of rental stuff so we did not need to deal with another vendor, they had lots of beautiful decors that could be rented in very low prices, and they were knowledgeable and always willing to help when we asked for suggestions in various aspects. Besides Currey, we also worked a lot with Danielle and Abby, our day-of coordinator and her assistant. They were extremely organized, helpful, and fun! We did not lose a single decor item that we provided; Danielle brought us food and made sure we were fed; she kept checking on my dress to stay flawless on me. At the end of the day, we harvested a big pack of food (free!) to eat for the next-day brunch, nice friends, and an amazing experience that we could always look back on for the rest of our life. To sum up, hire Currey, trust her, and you are good to go.

I can not recommend Currey and her team highly enough. From the initial consultation to the tasting to the day itself, she made every single element of planning a breeze. Currey was so responsive, solution-oriented, and creative in every element of our wedding. We had a first time wedding venue that also happened to have strict kosher requirements. Currey was incredible in making sure this all went off without a hitch and helped us design a delicious kosher-friendly menu (that still pleased my very non-Jewish husband and guests!). We worked with Rachel, one of the wedding coordinators on our team, for 30-day planning. She kept the day moving perfectly and handled so many elements of coordinating vendors in the weeks leading up to our big day. On top of all of this, RSC was an incredible value and so affordable. Currey and the whole team at Roadside were an absolute dream to work with and our food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented! My husband and I cared a lot about having high-quality food that wasn't your typical bland wedding food. We had tastings with two other vendors and the quality of the food along with the professionalism and organization at Roadside Chive were unparalleled. Currey was extremely responsive to questions and concerns, and helped us make a super flavorful custom menu based on our feedback. She is also incredibly knowledgeable about wedding planning in general and was an awesome resource for our timeline and planning in general. We got so many compliments from our guests and absolutely loved our menu. Furthermore, all of the service staff was speedy, professional, and on top of their game. I have never had catering that even comes close to Roadside Chive. I would HIGHLY recommend Roadside Chive.

Road Side Chive and Currey did the most wonderful food for our reception. We are vegetarian and Currey came up with a delicious all-vegetarian menu that left our carnivorous guests raving. RSC were very responsive and accommodated all of our requests, changes and last-minute change in guest numbers. We went for a "family-style" service which looked great and people loved. The food looked and tasted fantastic. The service was amazing and they made sure that some food was kept aside for us. The homey yet elegant food really matched the feel of our day. RSC came highly recommended by our venue (The Inn at Westwood Farm) and we were very glad we went with them.

I am so, so happy that we decided to have Currey and Roadside Chive cater our wedding. I can't think of a single criticism or area in which she and her awesome team could have done better... they were that good. We chose Roadside Chive because we loved the idea of creating our own menu from scratch, and their prices are competitive compared to some other major Charlottesville caterers. We wanted a family-style meal and we wanted to provide our own alcohol, and Currey was more than happy to accommodate. She worked with me for months to create a perfect menu, patiently and promptly responding to emails, and always offering enthusiasm and great advice. Currey's ability to produce incredible food on a large scale is really amazing. We served chimichurri steak, a teriyaki salmon with two sauces, mac and cheese, potatoes, and roasted vegetables, and every dish was fresh and flavorful. Currey also did so many little things to make our day wonderful: creating signature cocktails that guests raved about, packing a huge "to go" box of leftovers for us, ensuring that bride/groom and toasters were served first, and taking so many small tasks off our plate during the busy weeks before the wedding. Our guests also raved about the friendliness of the catering staff and bartenders. Currey is well-acquainted with tons of other wedding professionals in Charlottesville, which makes coordination among your vendors a breeze. Long story short, I would recommend Roadside Chive (and their rentals partner, Beggars Banquet) wholeheartedly. They are fun, creative, professional, responsive, a great value, and will make your wedding awesome.

The best wedding decision I made was booking Currey and the team at Roadside Chive. From the beginning, she respected our budget, offered plenty of helpful suggestions, and took the reins when I asked her to. I mentioned that a few of our guests were dairy- and gluten-free, and she crafted our entire menu to fit what they could eat. The food was outstanding, and she was completely open to changes throughout the process as well as very reachable by phone and email. Currey also went above and beyond by offering suggestions for local transportation & lodging options (we are from out of town). I was blown away by her professionalism & customer service. Our day-of coordinator, Taylor, was the second best decision I made! She was invaluable the month prior to the wedding, and was experienced in weddings at our venue which was a big deal for me. She offered great suggestions and was very knowledgeable. I felt totally relaxed because I knew everything was handled. There will be a lot of superlatives in this review that may appear as exaggerations -- I assure you, they are not. The Roadside Chive team was a magical gem that makes me wish I was throwing a wedding party every weekend.

Working with Currey was really fun! Her energy is totally contagious! Everything was easy with her and her team, even the things that are rarely easy -- like dealing with my highly demanding Russian event-planner mother. Currey expertly walked the line of doing things exactly the way my groom and I wanted while also leaving my mom entirely pleased and glowing.

Apart from nice rates, what originally sold us on Roadside Chive is their offer to take care of a ton of things that I appreciated not having to even approach, like liquor licenses and such. As a clueless bride, I was grateful for Currey's quick but solid rough plan and for her & her staff's clever and kind money-saving tips and flexibility in tweaking it over time. They agreed to whip up some special-request Russian dishes, including a pretty weird family recipe of a very obscure dish. At the tasting, I nearly teared up: it tasted exactly like my mom's!

On wedding day, our drinks, appetizers and buffet dinner were all fresh, beautiful and tasty. It's probably a millionth time I've said this over recent weeks, but holy cow, I could eat Roadside Chive's hot-smoked salmon every day for the rest of my life. The service was highly professional and seamless. They even thoughtfully brought appetizers for my groom and me during our post-ceremony photo shoot AND later packed away full plates of dinner for a post-wedding meal, in case we didn't get to eat enough as many couples do. But I'm proud to say I was one of the first people in line for the dinner buffet -- have I mentioned the insane hot-smoked salmon? :) The team also packaged up all the leftovers for a crazy-convenient day-after-the-wedding dinner that made my family feel like the celebration wasn't over.

I don't even know where to start! Currey was SO fantastic to work with. She is the first vendor I hired and she was so helpful with recommendations for other vendors. I felt so lucky to have found Currey and her team!

If you are like me you're probably spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to find the most economical way to cater your wedding. I'll save you time--Beggars is the way to go. I contacted probably 8 caterers in the area and nobody else even came close to Currey's proposal. Also, Currey was by far the nicest and most helpful caterer I talked to. A few of the companies were blatantly rude and condescending when I told them my budget. Currey helped me work backwards and figure out how we could do the most with the budget I had.

The food is fantastic! And the service was wonderful. We did a buffet dinner and we were so pleased by the quality of the meal.

More than anything else I would recommend hiring Taylor for day of coordination or event planning. Again, I was amazed at the price and everything it included. I decided to hire Taylor for event planning which includes 6 weeks of planning before the wedding. I'm in my last year of medical school and about 6 months before the wedding I seriously considered pushing back the wedding to the spring because I simply didn't have time to plan it. In the midst of this drama my mother called Currey and talked to her about the potential to hire Taylor for more than 6 weeks of event planning. Currey said of course she could help! In fact, Taylor would help me for the next 6 months and only charge us for the 6 weeks of planning. It was such a blessing! Taylor is the reason we were able to pull off the wedding and not push it back to the spring. Taylor was SO helpful and kind. She has great ideas and thinks of every little detail. The wedding ran so smoothly and that is all because of Taylor. I truly cannot recommend her services highly enough!

Beggars Banquet is awesome. BB are complete and total rock stars of catering. I started with a small idea; but, ended with a large idea. Curry was always available via phone or email. She adapted and changed the quotes all the way until the end. She also took multiple payments. We had the ceremony rehearsal, the bridesmaid brunch, and the reception catered by BB. EVERYTHING was beautiful and so good. We had a signature drink that everyone loved. This vendor and these people are awesome. I would use them again and again.

You will not find a more helpful, engaged, responsive caterer than Beggars Banquet. Period. Currey and her staff are absolute rock-stars when it comes to helping you brainstorm, plan, and execute your wedding day, and they will go well above and beyond anything you would have dreamed of asking all in an effort to make your day special and worry-free. By the time our wedding day came around, we wished that we could have invited Currey as a guest so she could enjoy the countless hours she put into helping us plan.

We had heard horror stories from friends and family about the food that some brides and grooms got at their “tasting” being better than the food on the wedding day, but Beggars Banquet absolutely wowed all of our guests on the day of our wedding. Our banquet presentation was elegant and inviting (we opted for home-style trays and dishes versus traditional heated catering trays), and the food was absolutely amazing. Currey worked with us to make sure we had an unforgettable spread that fit within our budget, and we are STILL hearing from guests remarking on how it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. In particular, the hot smoked bourbon glazed sides of salmon with homemade caper aioli still puts a smile on our faces when we think about it - it was SO good!

The food is only part of the equation with what Beggars Banquet has to offer though, the staff is fantastic and beyond helpful and they definitely go the extra mile to make sure that you have everything you need to make your day go off without a single issue. The selection of rentals that they have is guaranteed to have anything and everything you could ever have dreamed of, and Currey is guaranteed to actually listen to your vision of your wedding day to help you pick the linens, china, glassware, flatware, and all other rentals fit your vision versus trying to “upsell” you on something that benefits them. Beggars Banquet definitely has your best interest in mind.

Currey and her team are absolutely incredible! The food? Perfection. We did not stop receiving compliments for days following our wedding about the food, the service and overall "feel" of our day. Aside from the seamless service we received wedding day, Currey was an absolute (patient) dream during the planning process. She was quick to respond to all of my emails, offered her honest opinion and helped when I needed it most.

I can't speak enough about the quality of food we had at the wedding! The tasting was such a treat and the wedding day food was beyond what we could have imagined. Everything was prepared perfectly and we came back to our room at midnight to a heaping plate of leftovers. The best!
My husband had a special request to have the green beans prepared a certain way, albeit high maintenance, and the Chef delivered! So, so good.

Book Beggar's! We'll be back to them for future events.

The amazing team that is Beggars Banquet can only be described as absolute perfection. From the first initial email, I instantly fell in love with Currey, Marty, and their wonderful, spectacular team. Questions were asked like "what is yours and your fiancé's favorite food?" and "what do you gravitate towards for meals?" made me quickly realize that we weren't just another couple in a production line of weddings, we were a couple who was going to have exactly what the wedding we envisioned. I casually mentioned to Currey that I really liked chevron and when we received our first menu/timeline, there they were clear as day: navy blue chevron napkins. I would email Currey with crazy, random questions and she never once blinked an eye at what I was asking and she would always reply with the kindest, honest responses and put my mind at ease. Every single person came up to us and said how amazing the food and the service was the whole night.
Then there's Taylor. Taylor is the day-of wedding coordinator, but she is SO much more. Taylor, I can't even begin to say how much Will, myself and all our family & friends appreciate you. You absolutely, without a doubt, got our vision for the reception. I walked into our reception and I cried tears of sheer happiness, it took my breath away. Taylor's quick responses to my insane emails made me feel like I wasn't going crazy and she would always quickly reply and put my bridal brain at ease. Taylor: you're amazing at your job!!

I literally cannot speak highly enough of Beggars. They were the most responsive of my vendors, answering emails and phone calls quickly. They didn't mind when I emailed with the most random question or thought that came into my head, and took care of the tiniest of details. When there was a sudden rainstorm at our reception, they quickly mobilized and moved tables, bars, and speakers around to keep everyone and everything dry. We had people who realized it was starting to rain and went to grab things, but they had already been taken care of by the lovely staff! The tables they set up were gorgeous and the food was incredible, several people grabbed me to tell me how amazing the food both tasted and looked. They went above and beyond what caterers normally do, and I could not be more grateful. An especially welcome and helpful addition was Taylor, the day of coordinator. She made sure my husband and I were fed, hydrated, and calm (not an easy task!), sending champagne and snacks to us as we were taking pictures during cocktail hour, and putting my bouquet in water so I could save it. We could not have had the beautiful, amazing, fun, and stressfree wedding we had without Currey, Marty, Taylor, and all of the fantastic staff who helped us out. You would be crazy to go with any other catering company if you have a wedding in central Virginia.

Beggars Banquet's food absolutely made our wedding. We had people commenting days after our wedding how amazing the food was. They did an amazing job setting everything up and making it look delicious. The entire staff was very professional and made our wedding a grand event. My favorite part was when we were given a basket that had each of the meal choices in a container, silverware, our napkins, and a handwritten note from Curry saying thank you. My husband and I booked Beggers Banquet to cater our wedding and couldn't have been happier. We unfortunately weren't able to book a tasting prior to the event but everything turned out wonderful. Everyone loved every piece of food and the set up/display was great as well. The entire staff was friendly and fun to work with. The event planner, Currey, was very easy to work with and is amazing at her job - very professional, respectful, and extremely responsive. No complaints at all. Perfect catering service to go with!!

Helping my daughter plan her reception was made easy because of Beggars Banquet. Currey and her staff were very patient, LISTENED to what my daughter wanted, and put together a plan that was executed to perfection. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Even on a hot July evening, this crew had on smiles and were a delight. Thank you for helping us make our daughter's wedding one to remember!

We worked with Currey from Beggars Banquet. She was incredibly flexible with our requests and responded to emails quickly. The food was great and the service was wonderful! All of our guests commented on the quality of the food for a wedding service. The price was right as well. I'd suggest this for future brides.

I honestly don't have a bad thing to say about Beggars Banquet! We were hosting a large wedding in December and wanted the food to feel like it was expensive, but unfortuately did not have an unlimited budget. Currey at Beggars was so willing to work with us to come up with solutions that fit within our constraints, and we got rave reviews from our guests (short ribs were delicious). We were so thankful for Currey's suggestions with everything from the dance floor location to napkin colors - she was instrumental in helping our day come together. Anytime we requested Currey to change something from our original plan, she was more than willing to do so, even though I know it wasn't always convenient for her team (table wine service in a packed venue with full tables...not ideal, but they stepped up to the challenge!). Thank you, Beggars, for helping make our day seamless!

Currey was phenomenal to work with! The types of food we wanted to serve at our wedding were a big concern to my mother, but Currey is the one who made everything okay. When we said we wanted Moroccan food, Currey suggested making a chicken dish and calling it "Golden Chicken" to ease my mothers worries of people not wanting to eat something unfamiliar! BB was so flexible with what we wanted, as we went back and forth many times on how we wanted the menu to be structured and what to include. Each time we emailed Currey, she responded promptly with whatever change we requested. The food, of course, was delicious on the day of and you haven't lived until you've tried their mashed potato bar - definitely a wedding must! Currey wasn't afraid to go out of the box with the menu and offer a variety of more "eclectic" foods beyond the standard wedding fish, chicken or steak. We so appreciated her flexibility, spunk and calm personality when working with such a large aspect of the wedding!
We also used BB for our linens/plateware/flatware and everything looked lovely! Those were much easier decisions than the food and were very easy to make, especially since BB has such a large selection to choose from.

We were so impressed with Beggars Banquet throughout the entire planning process. Currey and Marty were so responsive and helpful, and they never rushed or pressured us. The rental selection is extensive, and we were thrilled with our linens, plates, etc - the tables looked amazing. All of guests could not stop raving about the food. Beggars did such a wonderful job with presentation, pacing of the courses, and the food was of course delicious! The bartenders were great, and the entire staff was friendly and pleasant to our guests. They did so much behind the scenes work to help make our wedding the most amazing event. Plus they made certain that my husband and I had a chance to eat everything that was served as we were often too busy to sit down and truly appreciate the food until after the wedding. Our vegetarian guests said the veg meal we served was the best they've ever had at a wedding! We can't thank Beggars enough for all that they did - from the rentals to catering to setting up the room - they truly were fabulous and we appreciate it so much!!

From the very beginning, just seeing sample menus let us know we were on to something great. The team at Beggars is incredible. They operated seamlessly with all of our other vendors and made our wedding really special. The food was divine. Planning this remotely meant no food tasting for my wife and I but we had full faith. Beggars exceeded our expectations by a mile. We had guests coming by throughout the evening complimenting the food.

We had the best possible experience we could have asked for in a caterer with Beggar's. We are total foodies and they helped us develop an awesome menu that was perfect for our summer wedding. Not to mention being incredibly responsible and flexible when I changed my mind about the plated v. family style and asked for multiple quotes. Currey and Marty were pleasant throughout the entire process. Also, most importantly, the food was INCREDIBLE and the service was impeccable. Our guests are still talking about it.

Currey at Beggar Banquet did an AMAZING job at my and my husband's wedding. I found Beggar's Banquet because we wanted to have a vegan reception and they actually advertised a vegan menu on their website - when we came in for a tasting, we were not disappointed! The food was innovative and delicious - my mom was asking for seconds and my fiancé and I knew our guests would love it. Working with Currey was fantastic - she went above and beyond to ensure that our wedding was exactly the way I envisioned it, from changing ingredients in the food, to personally folding the napkins into little bows herself ahead of the wedding, creating a layout of the event space and going over the rental list to make sure I had everything I needed. The service was top-notch and we got so many complements from guests on how much they loved the food (even though my husband and I were the only vegans). And to top it all off, the food costs what food actually costs and isn't an inflated price - such a breath of fresh air! I loved working with Currey and high recommend her and the team at Beggar's Banquet to all brides to be.

I cannot say enough great things about Beggars Banquet. Marty and Curry were responsive, helpful, and always had a smile on their faces. They worked with us to create a fabulous menu, within our budget, that was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I can not speak more highly of Beggar's Banquet. Marty & Currey were by far the most professional people I worked with during my entire planning process, and were so kind during the whole process. The food itself was SPECTACULAR. I lost count of the number of people who told me not only that it was the best wedding food they had ever had tasted, but also the people who told me it tasted TOO GOOD to be "wedding food". Marty & Currey were so on their game with everything they did: they organized rentals with that vendor, pointed out discrepancies to us, and provided smart ideas to make sure everything flowed nicely and everyone remained comfortable. I got married on the hottest weekend of the year, and a few days before, they offered to provide water bottles and buckets full of us (lined with linen to look nicer even!) to make sure everyone remained hydrated during the ceremony. Totally their idea, but one that we were so grateful for! They really make everyone feel like their most important client. I felt so at ease knowing they were there. Currey even helped lay out the train of my dress and veil before I walked over to my outdoor ceremony! It was just little things like that that made them so special to work with.

If you are getting married anywhere near the Orange/Charlottesville area, you would be foolish NOT to hire Beggar's Banquet! Out of 5 stars, they definitely deserve 10.

Even without power Beggars Banquet came through for my daughter's big day! From the first visit with Marty and Currey to the end of the wedding day, Beggars Banquet was professional, responsive, helpful and caring down to every detail. As for their food, it was AMAZING! Many, many guests commented that it was the best wedding food they had ever tasted (I agree)! Thank you so much for helping my daughter have the wedding of her dreams!

From the beginning, Marty and Currey at Beggars Banquet were able to take our vision and help create a menu that matched our style, likes, and desires for our guests. They were extremely helpful and patient, and gave us excellent advice in regards to catering choices, linens, glasses, and dishes. They made sure we had everything that we needed, and it looked wonderful too. We very much enjoyed seeing and tasting our menu ahead of time, and it was so nice to be able to bring my parents along to taste too. Marty and Currey worked with us up until the very last minute to accommodate our needs, and their confidence and professionalism put our minds at ease so that we could enjoy our day.
On our wedding day, Beggars gracious staff worked hard to help things go smoothly and efficiently from set up, to service, to break down. The food was outstanding! Everything was delicious, presented beautifully, and served promptly. We received numerous compliments from our guests who said it was the best wedding food they have experienced, and we completely agree. For us, catering was a very important aspect of our wedding, and we couldn't be happier with the way things turned out. After our wedding was over, we were thrilled to find a basket of food goodies in our room for a late night snack (the basket also had a printed menu and linen napkins in our color, all nice touches). We ate everything since we were really hungry, and enjoyed the food even more. It was such a pleasure to work with Beggars Banquet, and we sincerely thank them for all of their efforts in making our dreams come true! We would highly recommend Beggars Banquet!

I really cannot rave enough about Beggars Banquet. From the first meeting with the lovely owners, Marty and Currey, my husband and I were highly impressed with this business. They were so open to all our ideas (and we had a few non-traditional ones!) and so easy to work with. They were our last catering meeting after a week of talking to vendors, and we had dealt with a few caterers who were either too pushy with their own ideas, or so overly relaxed they verged on disorganized. The staff at Beggars is totally professional and on top of their game, but at the same time are very flexible and willing to work with whatever you want. We had our wedding reception at a private home which required a fair bit of logistical planning to pull off, and the entire staff, specifically our catering manager, was so helpful and knowledgeable about the best way to do things. The twenty years of experience really shows. But separate of all of this, their food is quite simply amazing. My husband and I were floored with the quality of our buffet meal. The ingredients were fresh, everything was cooked superbly, and it was all well-spiced and flavorful. We had chicken and salmon, and while both were highly regarded by the guests, we had a number of people remark how impressed they were that a caterer had managed to cook chicken that wasn't dry or bland, but juicy! Our wedding was outdoors, in August, and we wanted a menu that would cool guests down, and Beggars more than met that request. I think we received more good comments about the food than about any other aspect of the reception. Make the trip up to Orange if you are getting married in the greater Charlottesville area. The food and service are outstanding, and you can get a stellar meal for a significant value compared to what you would pay for comparable quality in the city.

Beggars Banquet created an incredible menu for us based off of our general request for a local and seasonal family style meal. They listened to our story and helped to create dishes that had meaning to us - we got engaged while fly-fishing, and one of our appetizers included smoked trout (and was INCREDIBLE!) Even more incredible- the sweet potato biscuit with apple butter and ham. Our family style meal really made everyone feel comfortable and personal- and the food was perfect for that kind of service. They took care of every detail, and were really flexible with us in making the dinner fit our vision perfectly. Marty and Currey were both great to work with from our first meeting all the way until the wedding day.

I could not have asked for better caterers! Absolutely everything served at my wedding reception was phenomenal. Our guests are still raving about the food. The owners are very easy to work with, and they really listen to what you want. They were very attentive to detail and planning during the whole process, and for what they provided there is no better value!

If I could give them a higher score I would. What a wonderful bunch of people. I credit them for making the reception silky smooth. The staff worked with the DJ to make sure everything happened without a wrinkle. They went far above and beyond expectations. I used them to prepare lunch for my bridesmaids while we were getting ready and for the wedding reception as well as table linens. The food was excellent, our guests loved it. After checking several craters Beggars Banquet was the most kind, professional and seamless. They have a shop in Orange Virginia, stopped in and try some of there food that is for sale.

Thank you!!! Marty & Currey were great! We loved meeting with them to plan our menu (they will make whatever your heart desires). The food was seriously delicious! (I was pleasantly surprised considering they were serving 140 guests out a a tent and our guests loved it). We had a fun specialty drink that they executed flawlessly. The service exceeded my expectations, we actually had a great time with the staff.

We loved the food at Beggar's Banquet - they worked with us on a very custom menu that we hadn't seen at any of the many many weddings we've attended. People are still raving about the food 5 months later! Marty and Currey were very responsive during the planning phase and helped us narrow down our vision for the spread with many helpful suggestions. I would definitely recommend them!

I am so glad that we chose Beggar’s Banquet for our wedding! We were very focused on having a seasonally and local fall buffet. They let us completely customize the menu and revise it multiple times. They responded to my emails quickly and directly and clearly answered my questions. Everything was presented beautifully as well- their website pictures are not representational of how great it all looked. Another bonus is that we were able to do all of our tabletops rentals through them. One bill, one check = less headache for me as a bookkeeper. Unbelievably, not only was it easier- their pricing was fantastic. They also provided us with staff to serve the wine and beer we had purchased without charging us any additional corking fees. All of our guests enjoyed the buffet and came back for multiple helpings. At the end of the night we got a little to-do basket so that we actually had something to eat at 2 am when we finally got home. Give these guys a call!

Currey was incredible to work with. Answered all of my questions (and I had a TON of them!) and changed our proposal as many times as we needed. The meal was nicely done, but we mostly loved the hors d'oeuvres were fantastic during cocktail hour! Every one of our guests loved the food and left with full bellies. Currey's team is fantastic to work with.

The food was fantastic! Service was great and I loved that I could rent our linens and table settings through them. The only thing I was not pleased with was that we had 9 people who did not eat or did not show up, but they didn't leave any leftovers. When we went in for our tasting, they said they would package up the extra food for us, but did not. We paid for 9 extra people and have no idea where the food went to.
