River City Wood Fire catered our wedding and they were all exceptional in every way! The food was outstanding and got great reviews by our guests. Joe was extremely accommodating from the tasting, through our communications, to the day of. He truly went above and beyond on the day of. He tracked us down during photos to make sure we got to eat some delicious apps. During the reception he noticed the kids table hadn't been fed and were getting antsy so he whipped up some cheese pizzas and hand delivered them! He ensured we were sent away with extra pizzas so we had something to eat afterwards. We literally drove away from the wedding raving about the food. A genuine thank you to Joe and his staff for making us feel confident, comfortable, well-fed and truly special in every interaction. Highly recommend.

We used River City for my daughter’s rehearsal dinner. It was perfect and the food was amazing! They even give the bride and groom several of their own pizzas. That’s was wonderful because it gave them food while they were getting ready the next day.

They’re so wonderful!
We knew planning our wedding we wanted River City Wood Fire. Joe, the owner, is great to work with. If you haven’t had them before, please go and try them! The Hawaii 5-0 is the best. Everytbing from changing one of the pizzas due to some of our guests being vegetarian to making sure me and my now husband had the best time. Joe is great, beyond that he is wonderful. He’s about the people and he wants to make sure everyone has the best time. Plus, you get sals with the pizza. That salad is authentic and delicious. We will always support River City Wood Fire!

Amazing pizza -excellent service
We booked River City Wood Fire for our son's wedding on our farm. We were thrilled to have them come and prepare the pizza on site and to have such a great selection of toppings to choose from. The caesar salad was delicious and fresh. As wonderful as the pizza was the service and the crew were incredible. The day of our event it stormed like the dickens and this did not deter them one bit! Everything moved smoothly with absolutely no isssues. (Weather is always a guest at an outdoor event). We highly reccomend them for the quality and taste of the food and even more so for their friendliness and excellent service.

So good youll want to get married over and over again
Other than marrying my wife, this was the highlight of the event. The pizza was other-worldly good. We live 2 hours away from Richmond but have and will continue to drive up there simply to get this pizza. The best part about this company, while the pizza was ambrosia, the owner Joe was even better. Immediately after the ceremony he made a small plate and hand delivered it to my wife to ensure she ate before having drinks. He was constantly checking on us and the table. Top notch service by one who truly cares about providing a phenomenal experience. Cannot, cannot, cannot recommend highly enough.

My husband and I LOVE River City Wood Fire, which is saying a lot for me particularly as I'm not crazy about pizza, but we fight over these! When it came time to choose a rehearsal dinner caterer, we know we'd be calling Joe. We are so happy we hired River City Wood Fire Pizza to cater our wedding! Joe and his team are awesome and make some delicious pizza. So many of our guests asked us where our food was from because they wanted to go get some on their own! Joe also made accomodations for a few of our guests with dietary restrictions (gluten free & vegan). He even put 8 pizzas aside for the bride and groom to take home since we didn't have much time to eat at the wedding. We were so impressed and will definitely make the trip to Richmond just to eat his pizza again!

The best decision you can make!
My husband and I have been together for almost four years - just married on October 1st. We have had more River City pizza together than any other meal together. The first thing we planned for our wedding was what food we were going to have - of course River City Wood Fire - and we never waivered.
The process of booking them was very easy and they were very responsive. Joe, the owner, is hilarious and there to help with the event and anything you need!
We had to change our wedding venue three days before the wedding and River City were saints and went right along with the change and made it stress free on the part of the food.
Day of the wedding they made the best food. Everyone that came to our wedding RAVED about our food. Even my vegetable adverse sister loved their Sir Brussels pizza!
River City Wood Fire is phenomenal and I truly mean that! Book them for your wedding, rehearsal dinner or event and you will not regret it!

My husband and I absolutely loved the food RCWF provided for our wedding, our guests STILL rave about how incredible our food was! I can't emphasize enough how positive of an experience my wife and I had with River City Wood Fire. From trying to decide on a catering service to the day of the event, Joe and his team were amazing. The initial tasting was a blast and showed just how many excellent pizzas they have to offer. Between that time and the event, they were very communicative and helpful regarding our reception. On the day of the event, they had everything working efficiently and were very thoughtful about providing a good experience to our dairy-free and gluten-free guests. They are so considerate that they even made an extra pizza for a friend who could not attend due to an illness.
I cannot say enough good things about this company; seriously, I could go on and on. If you want excellent food from a relaxed and organized caterer, go with River City Wood Fire.

His pizzas are incredible as were the appetizers he picked for us, not to mention he can nailed it with vegan & GF options for some of our guests. His setup was just what we needed and he kept all the food stocked throughout. Since we didn't have a seated dinner planned, it was great having food you can primarily eat with your hands. Everyone raved about the food and had fun chatting with Joe as well. He was always flexible and easy to work with, plus the initial tasting was a ton of fun (so much pizza). The service was the best I’ve seen. From booking to showing up at my event and paying the bill, everyone was so nice to work with. One young man helped people who needed a hand getting their food. They also happily made an extra vegan pizza for someone. The food was amazing! The salad was especially delicious, too!

I already knew that the pizza from River City Wood Fire was awesome, but I did not realize the staff was too. They catered our rehearsal dinner and the service was nothing short of exceptional. The pizza was great, the staff reliable and friendly and Joe, the owner, felt like family.

Best food choice and experience for a rehearsal dinner ever!
When we were looking for a caterer for our son's rehearsal dinner, I was skeptical about hiring a mobile "food truck" and especially pizza. I was concerned how the older family members may react to maybe not being a traditional meal. I was totally wrong! I would recommend them highly for service, taste, presentation of food, flexibility and Joe is great!! It was a wonderful experience all around with many happy and satisfied guests......young and old!! It has been a week since our rehearsal dinner and I am still getting messages from family and friends that this is the best pizza they had ever had and the banana pudding cups were too!

Joe and his crew at River City Wood Fire Pizza catered our wedding and they did a wonderful job! Their pizza is amazing (literally my favorite pizza!!) and even the mother of the bride raved about the Hawaii 5-0 (even though she isn’t a pineapple on pizza person). They even give you a custom pizza peel with the bride and grooms name engraved on it!

Super people, amazing pizza!
I reserved these folks for my daughter’s rehearsal dinner. I’d never tried their pizza or even spoke to them on the phone but they surpassed all my expectations. Joe assured me that everything would be great and he delivered. Of all the things I had to coordinate and manage that weekend, having them cater our event was the most stress free. Everyone loved the food and no one left hungry. I would work with them again and again. And I’m craving their Hawaiian pizza. That was a crowd favorite.

Best. Wedding Food. EVER!
Joe and the team at RCWF were fantastic from start to finish. From clear communication at the beginning to reserve our date and get a contract, to checking in as the big day got closer, we knew he was responsible and that we were in good hands! Day of, the whole setup was so smooth- the truck was parked out front and pizzas kept appearing inside our venue for our guests to enjoy. My husband and I like making our own homemade pizzas, so we loved that we got to incorporate that aspect of of our relationship into our day. And everyone could not stop raving about how good the pizza was!! Even our vendors were delighted to hear that we were departing from the typical wedding food and having something more unique. Joe even packed up a bunch of to go pizzas for us to take on our honeymoon, which we happily enjoyed the next day. Book them for your wedding- you will not regret it!

Joe and his team went above and beyond for our special day. They curated a unique vegan menu that even the staunchest of meat eaters were blown away by. From scratch sourdough crust, homemade cashew 'ricotta' cheese, and such delectable menu selections like vegan cheeseburger pizza and a lumpia-style appetizer were a hit. The distinguished care and attention to detail that he so graciously provided us and our guests far exceeded expectations. Joe and his team felt like part of our family, and we'll never forget it!

The BEST Pizza and Option for an Amazing Wedding Day
No exaggeration, this pizza is hands down the BEST that me and my husband (and guests) have EVER tasted! It is so incredibly yummy and it is all you can eat! What more could you possibly want!? Our guests are still raving about this pizza and how delicious it was! I am telling you that your guests and yourself will thank you for hiring them. It's not just the pizza--Joe and his staff are on top of everything. The service from them is phenomenal. They were constantly working hard to keep the pizza coming and the buffet table was never bare (and we definitely had more than one pizza monster there absolutely destroying it all!) Rehearsal dinner to remember!
I can’t say enough good things about Joe and his team! He was easy to communicate with leading up to the event, which helped me out a lot! On the day of, he called to confirm everything, and I could tell on the phone, he was a man who loved what he does! At our rehearsal dinner, he became a part of the family! His demeanor and personality is just what you’d want in a vendor. Oh and the pizza was to die for! My fiancé and I loved all the selections. We would 100% recommend him to anyone!

What is better than pizza? Joe's pizza is the best pizza I have had and that is all I heard from our guests all night! He accommodated vegans and gluten free as well! Seriously Phenonmenal and Perfect!
Joe and his team pulled off the impossible and saved our (almost) cancelled wedding! Covid regulations cancelled our venue and party place 4 days before the wedding - found River City Fire - Joe said 'no problem' arrived, set up and made our party flawless! His set up was beautiful and his servers were so professional - the best part was the delicious and elegant pizza - it was the hit of our party and his appetizers and salad were better than any brick and mortar restaurant in town! For Richmond natives who frequent the local breweries, I don't have to tell you just how amazing River City Wood Fire Pizza is, but for those who haven't had the experience, here I am. This is not domino's pizza, yall. It is amazing, artisan deliciousness. From the moment we discovered they catered, we knew we wanted to book them for our wedding (despite it being a bit non-traditional) but we wouldn't change a thing! Joe is amazing to work with - he is a clear and effective communicator, he's got a wonderful company, and he's just a nice guy. The price is affordable, and the flavor is incredible. Their menu includes vegan and gluten-free options which is so convenient for guests who have dietary restrictions. They are able to serve large parties quickly as well. One of the first things I was asked by a guest at our wedding was "when is it okay for me to get seconds," and one guest joked that they "only came here for the pizza." Joe and his team add to their service by leaving the bride/groom with a couple of "treats." Book River City Wood Fire for your wedding - you won't regret it.

Food Trucks are the Way to go!
My hubby and I were looking for a fun and unique way to incorporate local eats into our wedding. We're both total foodies and wanted our wedding to showcase some of the awesome eats Richmond had to offer to both our local and out of town guests. We happened upon River City Wood Fire and loved the idea of a pizza food truck..two of our favorite things in one! From the moment we met Joe, we were sold on the idea of them catering to our event. Joe and his staff made the process of tasting and selecting a menu as smooth as possible. On the day of the wedding, all of our guests enjoyed the excellent service Joe and his team provided. Joe, the owner of River City Wood Fire, was responsive, down to earth, kept it simple, and was a straight-shooter. All great qualities when looking for a unique caterer for a wedding. My groom was in charge of researching caterers. When River City Wood Fire was at the top of his list, I was concerned. I am all for a nontraditional option, but I was worried that serving pizza for a wedding would be too casual. My fears were put at ease. Joe and his team provided elegant pizzas with amazing taste profiles that really impressed us and our guests. The appetizers were phenomenal as well. You have to get the sausage stuffed mushrooms! The team took precautions to safely serve the pizzas to our guests during the pandemic. They were very adaptable to the circumstances. And since we had our wedding at a historic location, they were very sensitive to the caveats of our venue. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we were not able to taste ahead of time what we decided on serving at our wedding. But that was not a problem, since the food was amazing and a total hit. Unforgettable in the best way. We absolutely recommend Joe and River City Wood Fire for your wedding. You will love it!

Amazing food, super flexible, and great staff!
I photographed a wedding they catered a few months ago and these guys were the best! A flash thunderstorm pushed our timeline up a full hour with no warning, and these guys got dinner ready early to feed dozens of hungry guests! Their truck was such a visually pleasing landmark in the reception that a lot of guests enjoyed, and it was amazing that they made an engraved wooden pizza board for the couple! Not only were the staff super friendly and quick, but the pizza was to die for. For a couple who loves pizza more than anything, they stamped their seal of approval on River City Wood Fire Pizza and so did all the guests. 10/10 definitely recommend!!

These guys are incredible and so fun to work with! We used River City Wood Fire Pizza for our wedding reception. When we started the process, Joe (owner), was super helpful in suggesting pizza choices. We had an overload of questions, and he made sure to answer all of them. A pizza pie above the rest, River City Woodfire has a number of delightful slices to serve up. Easily my favorite pizza in the city. They are very flexible with where they set up to operate and they adapted to changing guest counts and menu items gracefully. When comparing their food to the typical catering company, River City makes a memorable experience without the massive cost of twenty heated metal food bins.

Who doesn't love pizza?!?
River City Woodfire was great to work with from the start: sampling pizzas, making recommendations, and putting together an estimate and answering questions quickly, they made our catering decisions easy. We had a few guests with dietary restrictions and the team happily accommodated with vegan and gluten free options. They made sure we, the newlyweds, had food set aside for us to enjoy during the busy day and kept the pies coming to make everyone had plenty to eat. But most importantly, the pizza truck was a big hit! We got great feedback from our guests -- many saying there should be more pizza at weddings. We agree and can't recommend Joe and team enough!

Best wedding food ever!
This team was perfect for my wedding! We did not want your average wedding food, we wanted our favorite pizza and Joe delivered! Everyone was talking about the pizza and appetizers provided all weekend! Joe even made a special box of apps for us while we took pictures and made us extra pizza to take for late night snacks after the wedding! They were awesome!

Post wedding lunch...Perfection!
Joe and his staff went above & beyond to help us create an awesome post wedding send off luncheon after our daughters wedding. It was stress free and virtually all we had to do was show up and enjoy. Clean up was minimal and the Pizza...perfection, and OMG the goat cheese bacon wrapped dates, incredible! Thank you Joe!

Would give 10 stars if I could!
I'm not sure I have enough positive adjectives to describe Joe, his team and the PIZZA! The highest compliment I can give them is that all my guests talked for days about how awesome the pizza was!! We never ran out, the guys hustled the whole time and so accommodating! Working with RVA Wood Fired Pizza for our wedding was one of our best decisions we made.

River City is the best!
River City catered both of my son's rehearsal dinners this year! Wonderful to work with, great service and the yummiest pizza around! Thanks Joe and staff for making my events rock!!

Joe is the man and his team is was just perfect for our rehearsal dinner. My bride and I were looking for something different and entertaining while still being a bit more casual. River City Wood Fire was exactly what we were looking for. Great value, great customer service, and incredible pizza. When I say pizza I don't mean just normal pizza...these pizzas all have their own special ingredients that make them different than "just" a cheese, pepperoni, veggie, or hawaiian pizza (and so many other awesome options!). Joe was very accommodating toward any food allergies including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. There was never a wait for anyone to eat. And...Joe and his team were very friendly, always making sure the job was being done well while also making good conversation with our guests. At the end of the night Joe was nice enough to send my bride and I home with a few extra pizzas so share with friends or family members. Overall, Joe and River City Wood Fire were the perfect match for our rehearsal dinner and I would suggest them to anyone needing an event catered. Thank you for all of your time and attention, Joe...we appreciate all that you did for us!

These guys are terrific! Very personable, the pizza was delicious! They spend years developing the perfect combination of ingredients! If you are looking for a crowd-pleaser, these guys are it! Not just dinner but entertainment! They tow a brick oven with them and make pizza on-site! They even made an extra pizza for my dog, who was our flower girl. I highly recommend these guys!!!!!

Joe and his team put on a great lunch for our Summer Games party. We rotate different vendors and we will definitely have them back again.

Joe and his employees were easy to work with and very accommodating! The pizza is delicious, and the salad was surprisingly sophisticated and tasty! The whole team makes it easy to entertain...I would use them again and definitely plan to! Thanks, River City Wood Fire Pizza!

Joe and his team were totally awesome! The pizza was absolutely perfect, everyone loved it. They came up with a clever way to set it up for the rehearsal dinner and ran pizzas until everyone had had their fill. If I ever have another event I will use them, in the mean time I'll be sure to go to breweries that he's at for the day. Seriously awesome pizza.

So happy we went with River city wood fire for our wedding! Weeks after the wedding, we are still receiving feedback from guests on how much they loved the pizza.

GREAT service, BEST pizza
After catering my work many times. I just had to have River City Wood Fire cater my wedding. Was definitely a hit, everyone loved the pizza. The quality of service really shows in their food. The employees really care about putting out the best product. Joe has an awesome team and I couldn’t thank them more.
