Best bridal shop in the Bay Area
Rin is AMAZING. Rin single-handedly handled every single elaborate detail of my stunning wedding dress, from every piece of lace in the detailing to every jewel in the veil. She was basically like an angel to my family because I got married at a time when I was very sick and she was willing to go above and beyond to accommodate my needs as well as provide encouragement, love and support at a time when I needed it. Her service is impeccable, efficient, timely, and she is incredibly talented. She always had a smile on her face and has an awesome sense of humor. I feel so lucky that we randomly found her. I felt like a total princess on my wedding day and it was because of her work and efficiency and kindness in getting everything done with respect to my dress. I cannot thank her enough. She will stop at nothing to get you the wedding dress of your dreams. That’s what she did for me and I am completely confident she will do it for you too. After reading one of the other reviews here, I am shocked and simply don't understand why some people are so unreasonable. My experience with Rin was fantastic and her kind heart shows through every piece of her work. Rin is very dedicated to all her brides. Even her alterations are perfection, if you decide to buy a dress elsewhere. Four months after my own wedding, Rin altered my bridesmaid dress for my sister’s wedding. It looked so elegant and stunning, and I feel marvelous in it and her turnaround time was super fast. Rin is always the best and her services are completely comprehensive to what you need. I am so grateful we found her. Don’t hesitate to work with her if you need someone to alter your dress or find you your dream wedding dress. -

I felt like a princess
I had to plan a wedding last minute because of covid and I didn't have a dress with 3 months until the date. I tried tons of salons in the bay and couldn't find anything in my size that was modest enough for my ceremony.
Rin's help me not only find a flattering dress in stock in my size - but actually did beautiful alteration and customization work to make my dress modest enough for the ceremony.
So happy! I felt so beautiful. -

It was the perfect experience as the bride!
Rin's bridal was the best experience as a bride! We had a area to try on a bunch of dresses, the ladies were very helpful and sweet and I found my perfect dress! She also made me a mask out of the material to wear which was cute and so sweet. I highly recommend them and they have been there for a long time and have alot of dresses to try on and choose from. -

Best experience I could ask for
If I could give Rin's 10 stars, I would! After having a bad experience at my first salon, I went to Rin's and found a great selection of lace dresses. My consultant, Dominic, was so sweet and helpful in picking out my dress. I went Black Friday weekend, so the dresses were also on sale! After my dress came in, Rin was SO accommodating with the alterations. I am from Stockton (1.5-2 hr drive), and she made sure I got my dress after my second fitting, so I wouldn't have to keep driving back and forth. I am so happy with my dress and can't wait to wear it on my big day. And it's all thanks to Rin's! -

I went into Rin's for the Allure Trunk show and found my absolute dream dress! Throughout the entire process Rins Bridal was incredible. Rin herself did all my fittings and she is amazing at what she does. She knows what she is doing, is creative and very talented. Every time I put my dress on I cried tears of joy and my dress fit like a glove on my wedding day. -

Rin and her team are so awesome! Being in the business for more than 30 years, she sure does have a lot of knowledge about wedding dresses! It took me only 2 visits before I finally made up my mind for my dream dress. They have plenty of selections and brands there, as well as sample sales. They were so patient and helpful, just make sure you set up appointment with them, so you can get undivided attention. I chose Pronovias because I love their elegant lace! When the dress finally came, Rin is such an expert in making sure your dress fits you perfectly after alterations. She understands how important it is for the bride to look their best. I am so happy I went with Rin to get the dress of my life! -

Before walking into Rin’s Bridal, I had visited 3 of the other highly rated bridal salons in the Bay Area and was starting to see the same dresses over and over again so I was worried that I wouldn’t find the one. I explained to Rin what I was looking for and she showed me some beautiful dresses that fit my description, but then she also added a few specials dresses that she felt would flatter my body type. None of the other salons had dared to suggest a style that was different from what I had described. Rin was spot on with her style choices, which showed the depth of her experience. Rin and her associates continued to work closely with me throughout the fitting process to ensure everything was just perfect. She also had the perfect hair comb to complement my dress. I’ve been looking through all of my wedding photos and I’m so thankful for Rin since my dress just fit me perfectly! -

I bought my dress at Rin's Bridal!!! My dress was perfect and beautiful and the alterations were reasonably priced, and I was very happy with my experience at Rin's!
Katie helped me, and she's the one who actually found THE dress. She picked it out for me at the beginning of the appointment and I rejected it, and by the end of the appointment I decided, what the heck let's give it a go, and fell in love!
Katie was very patient and helpful throughout my appointment. It was a slow day (super bowl Sunday), so she let me browse for an hour and forty minutes! I've had other bridal stores shoo me out on the hour. Also, Katie obviously has great taste as she could tell what would fit my body type and style best, even when I couldn't. She was also really fun to talk to, which is surprisingly not the case for all of these stores... And she helped me take pictures, which really helps with the decision making process.
Here are more details: I bought a Marisa dress, and there was a bit of an issue getting the French lace. The factory kept pushing back my delivery date, and I was getting really worried about having enough time for alterations! One of the girls told Rin about what was happening, and she took over and comforted me over the phone, and called the factory repeatedly demanding my dress and not taking any excuses! It was really nice to know that Rin cared about me and my dress and had the clout to get things moving.
Not only that, but when we were discussing options for the delivery date etc. I told her I did not want to pay for expedited alterations since I had ordered my dress well in advance, and she said they would help me, no extra charge.
The store has a really big selection too, and Rin is also willing to try to help you with your budget, which is greatly appreciated!
It is not necessarily the fanciest or most high tech, modern store, but I really think the important parts of shopping are the dresses and the staff, and Rin's Bridal is top notch for that! -

Rin's is a great place to get your wedding dress. The lady's working there were always nice to me and very helpful. Rin herself is always there and remembers you. I felt like they cared about each person who walked through the door. Great place to get a dress for anyone in the wedding party. -

When I knew I had less than a month to get my wedding together, you can imagine the first thing on my list was getting a dress. I had gone to David's Bridal, and they were fantastic, but pressured me into purchasing a gown by telling me alterations would take at LEAST 4-6 weeks. Shortly after that appointment, I went to Rin's Bridal, where I met Julie. Julie put all my fears at ease. Would I find a dress in time? Yes she said. Would it be altered in time? "Karen, you find a dress, let's say, two weeks from now, we will make sure it's done in time." They were behind amazing. Rin, Julie, the entire team at Rin's Bridal helped me not only to find the perfect dress, but keep me in budget. Four fittings later, I had my perfect dress, from my favorite designer, and I was thrilled to walk down the aisle feeling like royalty. I honestly felt like they truly cared about me and my situation, and I couldn't recommend them enough! If you're in need of a dress in a short amount of time, or you've got tons of time before your wedding, shop local, shop at Rin's. -

I found Rin's by searching for a particular designer dress and Rin's was the only one who had it. The first time I visited Rin's I felt at ease and their staff was very helpful. I was only there an hour and it wasn't enough time to try on the different styles of dresses. So I knew I wanted to return. The store is small and can get a little hot but that didn't bother me.
I ended up going to a few other stores to try on dresses and found THE dress which was the Casablanca by Enzoani. I remembered Rin's mailing me a card letting me know they were having a sale so I called Rin's to see if they had the dress I wanted and they did AND I could use the discount. Score!
Throughout my whole wedding process the staff at Rin's were great. I had to get a lot altered since Rin recommended I get a bigger dress (which in the long run I probably should have got a smaller size but no biggie). The alterations were a bit pricey (around $500) but in the end, the dress fit me like a glove and I was very pleased. I even purchased the chandelier earrings I wore there too. At my final fitting I still had to take the dress in a little and the staff were accommodating allowing me to try on the dress one final time before I took it home.
Overall I chose Rin's because I knew I would get the attention I needed and I wanted to give my business to them versus a big store. The only negative thing was they don't do fittings on the weekend so my mother wasn't able to participate in this process since she lives an hour away.

I can't say enough good stuff about Rin's bridal!!! Rin was amazing and worked with my budget and gave me my dream dress and even made it fit when I didnt think it would be possible as it was the display dress. I was here on my own and they all made it so enjoyable everytime I went in, I felt like they were my friends :) ... You will not be disappointed!!! -

Rin's bridal has fantastic selection, great prices, and very helpful staff. I purchased my dress and got it fitted here - it ended up way below my expected budget and looked gorgeous! Rin was very helpful, and because I work the same hours as they are open she even stayed late for me one night so I could get in a fitting. The alterations were completely seamless and fit great, even though the dress had a pretty detailed design. My only complaint is that the bustling hooks were quite well hidden - it took my poor helpers quite a while to get me situated when I was preparing for dancing. Great for the walk down the aisle, but ended up delaying the reception a little. -

After finding an Enzoani Blue dress in NYC, I struggled to find a store in the Bay Area that was willing to order the sample from the NYC store for me to try on (with my mom in tow, as she wasn\'t with me in NYC). Rin\'s was the only store willing to order it for me, AND priced matched with the NYC store. Definitely a plus. \r\nThe store is really crowded with dresses, but I think that\'s a good thing - selection, selection, selection! \r\nI had all of my alterations done at Rin\'s, and while I\'m aware that I probably could have saved a bit of change by taking it elsewhere, I knew that my dress wasn\'t the easiest to work with (required a side bustle). The only downside of the alterations process is scheduling the fittings, which have to take place Tues-Sat, and the Saturday appts were nearly impossible to get! Fortunately, I needed multiple fittings, and Rin\'s was accommodating and my dress was gorgeous! -

I stumbled into Rin's Bridal a month before my wedding, having major second thoughts about a cheapo discount dress I had already gotten for myself. When I explained my situation and my timeline, Rin didn't blink at all, and assured me that they would be able to find a dress for me. None of the other staff gave me too hard of a time about my timeline, and let me take a look through all of the sample gowns. Even though it was a Saturday, I had plenty of personal attention: the consultant patiently worked with me to find a dress that I was happy with, and even Rin started pulling dresses that she thought I might like. I ended up selecting a sample gown that I had already admired online, and when I expressed reservations about some of the organza unraveling, Rin whipped out a pair of scissors right in the dressing room and started showing how easy it would be trim the fabric panels to make the dress look like new. I got a reasonable discount on a current-season sample dress, plus a free sample belt (I had to spend a night fixing the beading, but it was worth it). I was very impressed by the two-week turnaround for alterations, too. The only criticism I might have is that one of the hooks for the bustle tore out of my dress when someone stepped on my dress while dancing at my wedding. Overall, I was fairly happy with the service I received, especially given the tight timeline. -

Great bridal gown selection and styles with fitting expertise
In early 2021, I was looking for a bridal gown an intimate beachside wedding in Hawaii. I visited a total of 4 bridal shops of varying price range and style; one with a very large selection, a high-end boutique, a generic retail location, and a local boutique, which was Rin's. I went to Rin's with my bff and tried on about 10 dresses of varying styles but all very pretty. I came here because I loved Pronovias dresses and knew they carried them. The sales associate was very sweet and patient and made suggestions according to the styles I liked. Rin is a very involved owner and makes herself available for input during appointments. She has a ton of experience in bridal gowns and alterations and she will give you honest feedback, which I personally appreciate. When going in, it's important to focus on your wedding style and what fits you the best. The differentiator from the other shops was that Rin's had the right amount of styles with varying price ranges. It was the only place where I even liked multiple dresses and it came down to a Kitty Chen and a Madame Burcu. I eventually chose the Madame Burcu and it took about 5 months to arrive. I did 4 fittings as bridal alterations are a lot more nuanced than I thought and Rin made sure to make every slight adjustment. To help, when ordering the dress Rin had already requested to make it fit better to my height. The process of my dress selection, fittings, and alterations was very smooth and pleasant and I can only attribute it to Rin's shop, I would definitely recommend them to any soon-to-be bride!-

Everyone at this place is incredibly nice and super helpful. They made me and my family feel welcome and comfortable. They even had cookies and brought out some watermelon for us when I first came to try on dresses. I happened to make an appointment during a trunk show and found a couple of really amazing dresses. Since I couldn't make up my mind they let me come back the next day to try them again. They gave me a fair price and worked with me on a payment plan. After the first couple alterations appointments, I was worried that my dress would not look the way I wanted it to. Fortunately, they know what they're doing and the result was a gorgeous, flawless dress. -

I found my wedding dress here, and the sales staff was great. I think her name was "Wan", and she was an aboslute gem-she was able to steer me towards the types of dresses that would look good on my petite frame. Although the staff was exceptional, I gave the place 4 stars for service, because Rin's herself put a bit of a damper on my buying experience. I found the dress I wanted, at a great price. I got the final dress almost 2 months before the wedding, and saw that I really needed to lose weight-so I did-10lb! They were able to do last minute alterations, and the dress fit like a glove! -

Rin's was the first bridal salon I visited, and dress #5 was the dress, so it was also the last I visited for my own dress. I chose it because it was located close to all the people going with me to select a dress, and because it had good reviews. I have now visited several other salons closer to home including David's Bridal, House of Fashion, and Bride to Be Couture, where I eventually purchased the bridesmaid dresses.
The shop is not large or fancy, but it's STUFFED with dresses, everyone we've dealt with has been friendly and helpful. They accommodated all 7 of us in my party, letting everyone pick through dresses, try on shoes, and wander around in accessories. We were quite a sight!
I was quickly able to find my dream dress with a jeweled belt, veil, and a very elegant beaded bolero for less than $2000. When I first came in they assured me that nearly everything there was under $3500, and yet I didn't feel like I was surrounded by cheap dresses, which is great.
I recently went into to try my dress and accessories on now that they've arrived, but we decided to hold off on alterations until mid-November since I'm losing weight and want to make sure the dress fits well. Mind you, my wedding is in mid-December, but they assured me that we can get the alterations down in that last month no problem - perfect for my situation.
I would definitely recommend making a trip there. They may not ultimately end up having your dress, but if they do, it will be affordable and your experience will be positive. -

The cost of the dress was very affordable. But service kind of varied depends of the staff.

I appreciate that they have lots of variety of wedding dresses, typically different than what other dress shops have. However, the tailoring is the only thing I thought was ridiculously expensive. I bought my dress there because they are the only ones in the bay area that carry dresses by Stephen Yearick. This designer's dresses are gorgeous! -

I loved my dress and it was reasonably priced. The only thing I didn't like was that the sales people try to keep upselling you. They kept telling me how nice I looked and that I should buy this and that for my once in a lifetime event. They were helpful, but I could just see right through them that they were just saying those nice compliments just to make more money. -

After dealing with pushy sales people at every other bridal store in the peninsula, I walked into Rins. They are truly nice and helpful people, and they let me browse around the store while they picked dresses for me and I was able to rummage myself which was really nice. They didn't have the gown that I ended up with, but I went back to Rin's to order just because I liked their service (they are also 5 seconds from my house, that helps!). They did not try to overcharge me, they quoted me the exact MSRP for my Maggie Sottero. They kept pushing me for bridesmaid dresses, even though I said multiple times that they were all over the country and it would be annoying. They assumed that I was going to do alterations (even though I said on the phone right before I came over that it was just an estimate) and they pinned me - as I looked at the wall and it said Pinning without alterations is $50. At that point I was just happy to get my dress so I let them do their thing. I know my dress is complicated, but it was $400 just for a hem and bustle?! And she refused to touch the lace on my dress, she only hemmed the inside satin.
And then when I wanted a sweetheart neckline she added another $100 to the bill. But again, I just wanted the dress to be done. And it did look beautiful! They moved the bustle several times to get it just right, there was no denying it was good work. The bustle held up all day (3 point) and I danced in it all night.
Rin is pushy and opinionated, but a very nice woman who will do good work, and they had my dress pressed and ready to go when I picked it up. It was a very up and down experience, but I came away very happy with all the work they did. You just need to push back to get what you want! -

Rin and Julie have been so amazing to me. It was a very stressful yet necessary process having my mom and grandmother present while I had my "yes to the dress" moment. Julie made every effort to reassure my family and I that the dress would be well cared for while we wait for time to pass before the next fitting. She also worked with us to make the dress as affordable as possible while making the perfect suggestions for a sash and veil!
Rin is also wonderful. During my first fitting she was very patient and had the utmost professional demeanor when confrontations reared with my mom...she has my complete trust and she made me feel so confident that my dress will be perfect for my wedding this August!
I am so happy I found my dress at Rin's!
Now that I have worn the dress, I must say her alterations are way over priced. As I was putting the dress on for my wedding day, buttons were falling off! My bridesmaids collected 10 total by the end of the night and after the first couple dances, my bussel stitching came undone and half my dress was hanging out the rest of the night! SO embarrassing! But the worst was the bra. I was told it was sewn in but you could visibly see it the whole time and I was constantly picking up the dress from the armpits because it kept shifting. Uncomfortable. Everyone said I looked great but my bridesmaids kept pulling me aside to fix things every 5 minutes. Thanks to my girls I was able to look decent but the value of this dress is definitely debatable. $800 for alterations, then she added a bra and charged another $60, and it still didn't fit right because of the stitching....there you go, be careful! I have been back several times in person to explain how I needed the dress to be fixed and I live in LA so it was hard on me. -

I found my dress at a more expensive bridal shop and ordered it through Rin's. When I went back after it had been altered, it needed more alterations, which I was not charged for...great! Although, when I went there after the second alteration it was all wrapped and ready to go and I could not try it on and make sure I was happy with the fit. I am not pushy and I let it go and hoped for the best. The dress fit great and looked perfect, thank god. -

Rin's was my first stop for a wedding dress. I chose it because four brides I knew purchased their dress there last year. I did not end up getting my dress at Rin's though. I just wasn't a big fan of any of the dresses or the environment itself. Rin was very responsive via email when I made my appointment. -

Even though I gave this bridal shop a low review, I would recommend it to a friend above the regular David's Bridal... If you want some higher end brand names vs. the cheaper David's Bridal brands, then you should definitely visit a bridal store and Rin's was my first stop during my wedding search. A lot of their items are extremely overpriced, and some of their sales associate extremely clueless and unqualified to offer any help or advice among the sea of dresses, and Rin is definitely nice but I'm not sure if she's pushy and she tells everyone they're beautiful so that she can make a sale. But I will tell you one thing... I sure did look beautiful in my dress and every single overpriced one that I tried on. Walk-ins were extremely easy for such a small shop and someone was always available vs. David's Bridal where everything is by appointment only and they hassle you as soon as you walk through the door. At Rin's, the first dress I put on was "THE ONE"... It took me some time to buy it because it was a $1500 dress and it was not in the initial budget (I almost bought the sample off the rack for a discount of $1300 but if I was going to spend $1300 I might as well just a get new one for $200 more.. to be honest, I had no idea how much wedding dresses cost before I came there and was in no way prepared to fall in love with a $1500 dress)... But the more I tried on dresses (20 to be exact), the more I realized that the first dress was "THE ONE" and that NO other dress could compare... Even when I tried to be cheap and get less expensive ones, there was no comparison and "THE ONE" was the ONLY dress I could see myself walking down the aisle in, it was the only dress I wanted to walk down the aisle in, and in the end, it WAS the one I walked down the aisle in and I have Rin's Bridal to thank for that. It was stunning, gorgeous, perfect, and thank you Rin's Bridal for finding me my dream dress! -

Dress was delayed without sufficient reason. Fittings were last minute because of the delay. I think they convinced my to purchase a larger size than needed, then required alterations. In the end my dress was beautiful and just what I wanted, the experience caused me stress though. -

Choosing Rin's is easily one of the biggest regrets I have about my wedding planning process
tl;dr - Choosing Rin's is easily one of the biggest regrets I have about my wedding planning process. I have never paid so much for someone to make me feel so miserable. If you bought your dress elsewhere, I don't recommend getting your alterations done here unless you want to be shamed for not bringing in a designer dress. If your experience is anything like mine, you will be charged a nosebleed price for imperfect alterations, and then you'll be told that your dress can't be fixed anymore because it was poorly made in China. (My dress is from David's Bridal, an American retailer, and was likely designed in the U.S. It was made in China, but most things are, including iPhones and other high-end products.)
Ava (one of the assistants at the store; sorry if I spelled the name wrong!) is an absolute angel though, and she's the one person in the store who made me feel cared for. Ava gets 5 stars from me - she absolutely rocks at her job.
----
I initially found Rin's Bridal after searching online for local bridal shops. I went in to look at wedding dresses but didn't find anything that fit what I was looking for, so I ended up buying my dress elsewhere. While I was there, it felt like Rin was pressuring me to try on a dress even though I wasn't interested in anything she had in stock. While she was pushing me to try something, she didn't mention that there's a fee ($50 or so) for trying on dresses - thankfully, I had noticed the signs that mentioned this, but other people might easily miss them. (Be warned!)
When I was looking for a place to get my dress altered, I thought of Rin's again. Although my previous visit was a little uncomfortable, I shrugged it off - maybe she was having an off day or maybe I was overreacting. I was really impressed by the highly rated reviews I found online for Rin's Bridal, so I decided to give her another try and bring my dress in to Rin's for alterations.
At my first alterations appointment, I got weird vibes from Rin. After putting on my dress and standing on the circle podium, she warned me that the alterations would be expensive and once she started pinning the dress, I'd have to pay a pinning fee even if I chose to get the alterations done elsewhere. I told her I understood her rules, but she kept asking me if I was sure even after we agreed on a price. (I'm not sure what gave her doubt - perhaps she had been burned before by customers who refused to pay, but it felt a bit aggressive for her to treat me as if I was going to run out on her.)
Let's talk about the price. She asked for $750 ($800+ after tax) for the alterations, which included hemming the skirt, taking in the shoulders, and adding a bustle. Her price was within my budget (I was expecting the alterations to cost several hundreds of dollars) but above my expectations for how much the work would cost, even in the Bay Area. (And for what it's worth, I brought my dress in 6 weeks prior to my wedding date; I had been assured by Rin's that they only needed a month to do the alterations, so this wasn't a rush order either.) I didn't shop around because I didn't have time or energy to do that on top of all of the other wedding planning work I needed to do. She also asked for me to pay upfront, claiming that was her standard policy. Ordinarily, I wouldn't pay such a large sum of money upfront for a vendor I've never worked with before. But Rin's is a longtime local business and they had so many good reviews online that I set aside my doubts and agrred to pay upfront. That was a mistake, of course, because as soon as I paid, there was no incentive for them to care about me as a customer.
As Rin was pinning me, she asked me where I got my dress. I vaguely answered that I bought it online. I think this made her think I got it from a random Chinese retailer. She told me that the neckline was too loose because the dress wasn't made correctly - the front of the dress was too wide and the back of the dress was too narrow. I asked if perhaps the dress had been made for a bigger busted figure, since in the pictures of the dress online, the model had a larger bust that filled out the front of the dress. Rin said that wasn't the problem and if the dress had been made right, the neckline would lie flat on my chest regardless of bust size. She insisted however that she could fix it.
Two weeks later, I returned for my second fitting. The shoulders had been shortened, but the straps didn't lay flat against my chest. One of the straps visibly buckled up and fit poorly, and the entire neckline lifted off of my chest. I brought this up with Rin and she told me again that my dress wasn't made properly. She proceeded to tell me multiple times that my dress was a cheap import from China, that they don't know how to make dresses properly and used a bad pattern, and that I get what I pay for. It was a bit humiliating to hear her criticize my dress like that in her store. It's true my dress was made in China, but I can only assume it was designed in the U.S. because I bought it from David's Bridal - a reputable national *American* formal attire retailer. Sure, it's not a designer dress, but it's also not the cheapest dress on the rack. My dress was a mid-price range design that originally retailed for $700. It felt like she was making excuses for why the alterations weren't done better. She repeatedly told me that she is a dress maker so she can recognize when a dress is made wrong, but if she's so experienced, surely she could have told me upfront that my dress was made too "poorly" to be altered satisfactorily. Instead, she had taken my money and insisted she could do the job.
The skirt had been hemmed to the correct length, but the edges on the tulle layers were a mess. There were multiple areas where the edge looked like a row of jagged shark teeth due to sloppy cutting. There was even a hole sliced into a layer of tulle! I was horrified to see such sloppy work given how much I had paid for these alterations. I asked Rin about it and she assured me they would use a pizza cutter to smoothly cut the edge when they finished the alterations.
They had also put in a 3-point bustle. I didn't get a good look at it until later, but when I saw pictures of it, I realized that the bustle points were not symmetrical - the rightmost point is slightly higher than the leftmost point...
Another two weeks later, I returned for my third fitting, thinking that all of the problems from the previous fittings would have been fixed. Instead, I found that tHe hemline on the skirt was as jagged as ever, and the shoulder straps might have fit slightly better but still had a buckle on one side. I pointed out these issues again, and Rin responded with the same criticisms as before - the dress was a cheap import from China, there's only so much they can do, etc. I was incensed. I can believe that maybe there were challenges working with my dress (though the seamstresses at David's Bridal are able to manage somehow...), but I would have expected that Rin would put more effort in working with me to identify a mutually agreeable solution here. Instead, I got the feeling that Rin didn't value my business and didn't care about me as a customer.
Typically, after the third fitting, Rin's will steam clean the dress and schedule a date for you to pick it up right before your wedding. Rin tried to pressure me into scheuling a pickup date with no further opportunities to try on the dress. I wasn't comfortable with this given how there were still serious issues with the alterations. I was eventually able to schedule a fourth fitting.
When I came in for the fourth fitting, there was (unsurprisingly) little difference from the previous fitting. The shoulder straps had the same buckling issue as before. Her assistant, Ava, was an absolute sweetheart. She told me she wanted everything to be perfect for me, and that if there was anything wrong with the dress, no matter how small, I should let her know and she could ask Rin to fix it. The way Ava treated me was incredible - she seemed invested in making my dress and my wedding a success, and she seemed to really care about how I felt. I wasn't satisfied with the alterations (hardly anything had changed since the last time I visited!), but I admit I was a bit afraid of bringing up my concerns with Rin because of how dismissive and condescending she was before.
Rin came over and tried to put words in my mouth - "it's so much better now right? It fits so much better. Everything is good. My assistant can help you out of your dress." Holy cow - she was practically rushing me out of her shop. She didn't even really ask me how *I* felt about the dress.
I kinda felt like it was useless trying to bring up the issue with the shoulder straps. I noticed that the skirt hemline had been cleaned up but there were still some egregious spots where the tulle had jagged cut lines. I pointed them out to Rin and she blew me off, saying that sometimes the lighting isn't good in the workshop in the back of the store and sometimes the seamstress will miss things. (What!?) I couldn't believe my ears - that was such an absurd excuse, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She asked Ava to help pin the spots that needed to be cleaned up so that her seamstress could fix them.
I left Rin's shop that day feeling depressed and wronged, the same way she always made me feel when I visited her.
The next week, when I picked up my dress, I insisted on inspecting the hemline. I'm glad I did because there were *still* some areas that were not cut smoothly. I pointed them out to Rin (again), and she mentioned (again) that sometimes the lighting isn't good in the back of the store. That is an absurd problem to have given how much they charge for their services. Rin said that she had a pair of scissors and could help me fix the hemline. (What happened to the pizza cutter?) So, Rin and I went through every layer of tulle on my dress (there were 2 or 3) - I pointed out the jagged edges, and she used a pair of scissors to smooth them out. She wasn't using fabric scissors either - she had a pair of regular office scissors. I asked her if she had anything sharper and she insisted that those were her newest pair of scissors and they were very sharp. Okay. It took us awhile, but eventually we trimmed the hemline to an acceptable state.
The neckline still didn't fit quite right, so I had to buy and use several strips of fashion tape to make sure the dress stuck to my chest and didn't reveal too much cleavage. I was able to get through my wedding day without any wardrobe issues, thankfully.
I'm glad to be done with this ordeal. If Rin had been more gracious about the limitations of my dress and behaved professionally, I would have been much more understanding. Instead, she was condescending and arrogant, blaming my dress' construction and not making any attempt to work with me. Wedding planning is tough enough as is it - I really didn't need the extra stress that came from working with Rin. As I mentioned before, I've never paid so much to feel so miserable (and to be so disappointed)! If you didn't buy your dress at Rin's, you may want to take it elsewhere for alterations. -
