I truly cannot say enough good things about Kaitlyn and the team at Riding Tandem. From the very beginning all the way through our wedding day, they were nothing short of incredible.
Kaitlyn has such a strong design background, and it shows in every detail. She took my ideas and elevated them into something even more beautiful than I could have imagined. She didn’t just plan a wedding—she helped me create an experience that felt completely aligned with my vision and style.
Beyond her talent, what made this experience so special was who Kaitlyn is as a person. She was supportive, calm, organized, and genuinely cared every step of the way. Through the entire process, she became more than just a planner—she became a friend.

Our original wedding date was in April and we were not planning on hiring a coordinator. However, after postponing to December (and with a smaller guest list) we decided it would probably be worth the money to work with someone. Hiring Carlie and her Riding Tandem team was honestly the best decision we made. Carlie is AMAZING and took all of my stress away. She was professional, personable, flexible and kind. I cannot express enough how happy I am with our decision to go with the month coordination package. There were so many little details that I was not thinking of and I trusted that Carlie understood our vision enough to make those decisions. There are also so many logistical things to consider where it was well worth it to have Carlie and her team there to help us and our families get through the flow of the day. We also had several minor issues come up day-of that she handled seamlessly that I wasn’t even aware of them until the next day. Wonderful and personable
Carlie was the planner of all planners. As a photographer, she made communications seamless and was so very organized to work alongside. Its often times photographers like myself get special treatment from planners, and I have to say, Carlie was a dream to work with and really made the wedding team feel important. I’ve been doing hair and makeup for weddings for 14+ years. I’ve worked with a lot of coordinators but Riding Tandem stands out above the rest. Carlie goes above and beyond for her brides and fellow vendors. She thinks of details that others have overlooked. She is upbeat, positive, encouraging, and kind- a true JOY to work with on a wedding day. After planning our wedding for almost 2 years, it’s very hard to hand “the binder” over to someone else, but with Carlie and the Riding Tandem team, it was so easy. Carlie was like having an extension of myself and I trusted her 110% with our wedding. She took my vision and put it to life while I was getting ready for our wedding. She knew the answers before I even asked the questions. I felt like she was there for us, and only us. She was personalized and put us at ease. We hired Kaitlyn and Riding Tandem in May 2025 for our March 2026 wedding because we wanted someone else to work on the details to bring our vision to life while we enjoyed engaged life together. If you are considering Kaitlyn and her team for luxury, full-service wedding planning, there are several key points you may want to think about based on our experience. We mainly worked with Kaitlyn, and as such the comments below are mostly a review of her as full-service wedding planner, and partially of Riding Tandem as a whole:
PRO: Kaitlyn recommended fantastic vendors (for the most part) for which we are grateful
CONS: Suspect and unethical behavior, inadequate problem-solving skills, insufficient proactivity, lack of attention to detail, failure to follow and track deadlines
Suspect and Unethical Behavior:
- Does not actually leverage Aisle Planner as advertised. Kaitlyn and Riding Tandem do not actually help you keep track of any information on that website. Even something as simple as the wedding date was wrong just a few months before the wedding.
- Does not actually meet with you as many times as contracted. We were contracted for 20 planning meetings. While we really needed more, there were several months with minimal planning meetings with her, even as close as 4-5 months before the wedding. Even when bride needed support to clear up some confusion with the venue, planner said she was busy with a meeting and to call the venue wedding lead herself to clear it up.
- A suspect “overdue” payment notice arrived without any prior reminders. Bride mentioned to the planner we were diligently keeping track of all payment due dates and we couldn’t have missed it. We later found out the actual contractual due date for that payment was 10 days after what the overdue notice stated.
- Requested the delivery of an additional bar during the wedding without approval or consent from the couple. Kaitlyn did not inform the couple during the wedding, or after the wedding, of the extra bar she requested or the additional charges the vendor added onto the invoice from her unilateral decision. Instead, she told the vendor to withhold the deposit due back to the couple as payment for the additional bar, without approval from us. Even then, there was still an outstanding $80 balance in our name she did not disclose. We found this out on our own 3 weeks after our wedding. The venue confirmed with us they could have completed service with the bars on hand. This was a flagrant violation of planner-couple trust and an unethical and unprofessional behavior.
- Kaitlyn acquired the business in November 2024 and did not disclose this proactively. This is important as the glowing reviews for the business is for the prior owners. Had we known this, we likely would not have hired Riding Tandem as our decision was heavily influenced by reviews that predate her ownership.
- Complete lack of accountability. Constantly shifted blame to vendors, the venue and anyone else, instead of assuming responsibility when she missed details, made mistakes, or executed incorrectly.
Inadequate Problem-Solving Skills:
- When couple asked her to have the venue cool down the reception ballroom so guests can enjoy dancing, she immediately stated the request was not possible as the “person in charge of the thermostat” had departed the premises.
- Failed to accommodate surprise speech father-of-the-bride had prepared even though he asked planner to include in the agenda a day before the wedding when she told wedding party to approach her for any questions related to timelines. Father of the bride repeatedly asked the planner about the speech during the wedding and she gave him the run-around. It wasn’t until the bride’s uncle mentioned to the bride that her dad had a surprise speech prepared that we found out. Even then, Kaitlyn acted surprised and oblivious to the request, and bride had to force her into executing it.
- When we realized only one sign was printed for the amenity baskets we placed in the men’s and women’s bathrooms, we came up with a solution to put the one sign on a table outside of the bathroom doors. Kaitlyn failed to execute on that, and the singular sign remained in the women’s bathroom. The men did not know the amenity basket were for our wedding guests and did not use it.
Insufficient Proactivity:
- Rarely provided details until asked – bride, who did not want to be this involved, had to provide list of all outstanding items 2 months out from the wedding and continuously follow up with planner to ensure execution
- Did not create the rehearsal agenda or the wedding day timeline – bride had to make both from scratch, 2 weeks out from the wedding
- Failed to complete tasks on time; claimed vendors were “unresponsive”, but when bride or groom intervened the vendors responded promptly
Lack of Attention to Detail:
- Room lighting set up incorrectly for the reception. Videos were found that showed lighting was correct during room prep, and was altered to the wrong settings afterwards for some reason.
- Wrong table and linen color were used for the cake, even though instructions were easy to follow in order form
- Failure to order the correct number of chairs for ceremony and flatware and chargers for reception table settings, even though she told bride and groom the number was updated
- Poor rehearsal planning and inability to recall that groom’s family could not make it from the Middle East
- Failure to use the venue’s design program for ceremony, cocktail and reception set up. This led to scaling issues which resulted in last-minute modified set up on wedding day
- Sent a dirty golf cart to pick up bride in white dress before the ceremony and did not have the foresight to ensure clean setting
- Prompted the bride and groom to do their first dance while people were still finishing their dinners
- Had no awareness to the song changes during the ceremony, even though explicit timings were provided and reviewed during rehearsal, and was prompting the wedding party to enter at the wrong times
Failure to Follow and Track Deadlines:
- Claimed to know deadlines on call but could not actually state when menu choices were due to the venue before a 5% late charge was applied from a luxury venue, even though the deadline was at the end of that week
- Did not hire a vendor for signs until groom asked about that in January; this caused a lot of frantic stress and urgency to get everything done in a very short time.
In a sea of competent, experienced, and attentive wedding planners, you are better served hiring someone else. Even riding solo is better than riding tandem.Riding Tandem's reply:
We take all client feedback seriously and strive to deliver a high level of service for every couple we work with.
Several statements in this review are not accurate and misrepresent both the contractual scope and the events as they occurred.
Specifically, references to unauthorized financial decisions and unethical conduct are incorrect. When a vendor equipment issue occurred and an additional bar was brought in to resolve a setup issue and ensure the guest experience was not impacted, the vendor later issued an invoice for that service without prior approval. I disputed the charge directly with the vendor at the time and ultimately took responsibility for the cost to ensure timely resolution. The client was not charged for this service.
Additionally, the review reflects an inaccurate understanding of payment timing. All payment terms are clearly outlined in the signed contract and corresponding invoice, which state that final payment is due one month prior to the wedding date. A past-due reminder was issued on February 15th for a March 7th wedding date, in accordance with those agreed-upon terms. Any automated reminders or notices are system-generated based on the contract schedule.
Throughout the planning process, all services—including scheduled meetings, planning support, vendor coordination, and timeline development—were fulfilled in alignment with the contracted scope. In addition to client-facing meetings, our team conducted numerous coordination calls and design meetings directly with vendors on the client’s behalf. The total number of meetings referenced in the contract reflects overall planning time and coordination, not solely client-facing meetings. The final scheduled client meeting was ultimately canceled by the client.
All vendor rental orders were confirmed and coordinated based on the final guest count, with contracts updated accordingly to ensure accurate execution. No contractual deadlines were missed, and no additional fees were charged to the client.
Wedding planning requires real-time collaboration with multiple vendors and venue partners to ensure seamless execution. Regarding venue-related elements such as lighting, the venue management team acknowledged responsibility for these settings and followed up directly after the event to apologize for the discrepancy. These elements are managed directly by the venue team and fall within their operational control.
