Thank you Shobha for making our day perfect!

We were on the hunt for an officiant on short-notice and came across Shobha - and we're so glad we did! Leading up to the ceremony, Shobha made sure to occasionally connect with us to get to know us a little better. We were just looking for something quick and gave her all the creative freedom as we're not religious. Shobha managed to exceed our expectations - making our small ceremony more memorable and heartfelt than we could've imagined. She is the sweetest person ever and not to mention, very personable. We are so genuinely happy with the experience that we would recommend her to anyone who's looking for an officiant.

Wonderfully flexible and helpful!

Shobha was fantastic! Wonderfully collaborative, warm, and flexible. She really worked with us so that our ceremony was exactly what we wanted, even during this crazy pandemic!

Great ceremony

Shobha truly embodied what we were looking for in our officiant. When we first met her, we knew instantly we wanted her to perform our ceremony. She took the time to follow up with us multiple times during the months and weeks prior to the ceremony. Overall, really great experience.

If you are looking for a spiritually filled wedding ceremony, look no further. Reverand Shobha did a remarkable ceremony. Both my husband and I aren't religious. I however am spiritual and we wanted to incorporate some Jewish traditions. She suggested great rituals, readings and ring exchange readings. Our guests keep telling us how much love they felt and how beautifully different our ceremony was. It was a magical and special moment. Thank you Reverand Shobha. Oh, we got our certificate quickly too!

We chose Shoba to be our officiant for our wedding ceremony and she did it the way we had exactly how we imagined our wedding ceremony would be. Shoba turned the ceremony into something more than just a ceremony, it was an experience and got all of our guest involved. We couldn't be more than happy with our decision, Shoba took the time to discuss all the important aspects that we wanted, and she was always available for any requests or concerned that we had. She delivered the ceremony so perfectly.

I sincerely don't have words to describe the experience my husband and I had with Reverend Shobha. By the end of my first conversation with her, I felt like I had known her as a friend, as she was so personable, genuine, and invested in making our day just perfect. Additionally, my husband and I planned our wedding in just about 4 weeks. Reverend Shobha never made us feel that the ceremony would substandard because of the time crunch. In fact, she assisted by offering suggestions and staying regularly involved throughout the 4 weeks which provided great comfort for my husband and I, as their plenty of other things we had to focus on!

We can't thank Reverend Shobha enough for the personal touches she incorporated into our ceremony, her flexibility, and accommodating nature. She made the planning and actual ceremony so much fun and enjoyable. For months following the ceremony, she would reach out to us to say hello and she sent a first-year anniversary card.

I am confident that you will be completely satisfied, if not more, with her service. I cringe to think about how the event would have turned out had we used another vendor.

Shobha was wonderful and we're so glad we found her. She spent over an hour with us on our first phone meeting, getting to know us and learning about what we were looking for. Shobha was a kind and very accommodating officiant. We were traveling a fair bit during the month before our wedding and she was kind enough to talk to us at length on the phone. Our park wedding ceremony was secular and spiritual, including a modern version of the "seven steps", which both of us and our wedding guests enjoyed very much. We are particularly pleased that she was able to make our guests feel included in the ceremony. The one thing we did not anticipate was the level of noise at a New York city park during springtime (cars, birds, children) and would highly recommend getting a microphone in case you are planning a venue with similar noise levels.

I contacted Reverend Shobah three weeks before my impromptu wedding ceremony. I had told her it would be the first of May, and she was attentive, available and extremely accommodating. The ceremony was brief, as she promised, and was filled with love. She was genuine and didn't miss any details. I would definitely recommend her to anyone I know!

Shobha conducted our wedding beautifully and memorable, so that it had become a very creative and thoughtful and spiritual ceremony as I have never imagined. She also included my cultural tradition into it, which made it special.

Shobha performed our wedding ceremony on the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC.
Shobha emailed me specific details and choices (order of ceremony, readings, vows, etc), and we were able to chose the exact type of ceremony we wanted. In our case, it included remembrances of our deceased parents and a ring blessing. Shobha was attentive to our choices, and we got the ceremony we wanted, Shobha was readily accessible, and we communicated easily by phone/email.
Thank you Shobha for helping us have the perfect ceremony celebrating our love, our love for family and friends and our love for the great city of New York.
One member of our family said it was the best wedding she ever attended!

Shobha is purely and simply incredible. She gave the most beautifully heartfelt ceremony I (and many of our family and friends) have every witnessed. It was so personal that nearly all of the people attending thought that I had known her since she was a child.

She truly does a ton of research and incorporates so many personal elements to the ceremony....she is completely at ease in front of large crowds and has an uncanny ability to connect with people attending but also make the bride and groom (us) feel like we're the only ones in the room.

She is always smiling and was one of the people I most enjoyed working with for my wedding. I will truly miss her and only hope she will officiate at my friends' weddings so I can see her ceremony as a guest!

Shobha was absolutely amazing as our officiant. She was warm and welcoming and kind from our first meeting until our wedding day. She helped as we attempted to write our own vows and she truly made our ceremony something that both we and our guests LOVED being a part of. She knew we wanted to do a handfasting ceremony (a celtic tradition) and she made it happen just as we had hoped. It was beautiful. The personal touches she added to our ceremony, including adding the Seven Blessings where she threw rose petals on each of us was just wonderful. She is the best out there and any brides/grooms looking for the perfect officiant will certainly be beyond thrilled with Rev. Shobha! Thank you so much!!!!

Reverend Shobha Hughes came into our lives as we were issuing our wedding license and had 36 hours to plan our elopement on Easter Sunday. We emailed her from the Marriage Bureau and having read all the wonderful reviews about her we were certain that she would not be available. Ten minutes later she called us! We had no difficulty arranging the time although it was such short notice and had a thorough conversation about ourselves and how we wanted our ceremony to be. She gave us ideas for vows and inspiration and courage to carry on until the big day. As we had very little time to prepare Reverend Shobha, determined to initiate a memorable ceremony, took the initiative to read about our ethnic backgrounds and incorporated elements thereof to the ceremony. It was a touching surprise. She officiated our marriage with respect, warmth and a deep sense of responsibility. Our vows, based on her suggestions and enriched by ourselves, brought tears to our eyes. A true interfaith minister, she has accrued wisdom that she transmits in the most discrete way. Following our wedding and as we live oversees she kept us updated on the progress of our marriage certificate with care. We are blessed to have been married by Reverend Shobha on that sunny Easter Sunday.

We can't thank Shobha enough for being a wonderful and fantastic addition to our wedding day. We truly appreciate all of the effort and thought that she put into our ceremony. Not only did our ceremony blow away the two of us, but it was conducted in the most wonderful and thoughtful manner, Shobha really cares about what she does and she really did make our day that extra bit special.

We also hired Shobha's husband to take our photo's while in New York, Chris also was fantastic and the pair of them couldn't help enough! They both went the extra mile, Chris even edited our photos and Shobha hand delivered them the next day because we asked if we could have them before we leave for home!

Its was so daunting coming from the UK to America to get married, we didn't know if everything would work out but I'd 100% recommend both Shobha (Officiant) and Chris (Photographer) to anyone planning on tying the knot in New York!!!!

To be honest, the quotes could just keep coming. Shobha and Chris were the best people that we could have ever asked for. They were both easy to work with, extremely detail oriented, calm, enthusiastic, structured, passionate and it was an utterly remarkable experience.

I have nothing but good things to say about Rev Hughes. You have been there with me during my ups and downs of preparing the ceremony and I could not have asked for a better person to marry us. Whenever I had an question you always responded quick and fast through email and if it was an in-depth situation, she never hesitated to call or have me call. We lived a magical and wonderful wedding in Central Park in May 2012. Diane(Shobha) was really helpfull and involved during the planning. Thanks to her husband (our witness and photographer) and her, the ceremony was really intimate and personnalized, exactly as we wanted it to be.
If you dream of an American wedding without the madness of Vegas, do not hesitate a single second!

She is personable and from the moment I spoke with her I knew she was the officiant I wanted to perform my ceremony.
Shoba was very helpful especially because I would be traveling from a different state.
She was certain to keep in contact (because I contacted her far in advance).
Shoba also contacted us before we flew in, once we landed and even while we were just in the city.
Shoba was prompt with arrival for the ceremony and made the area we had chosen very special and sacred before we got started.

My officiant has even contacted us post ceremony for our one month anniversary to check say "Hello and wish us a happy one month anniversary"...
I would recommend her in a heart beat, in fact I have already and I wish her the best!!!

Reverend Shoba really personalized our ceremony. She took the time to speak with us extensively on the telephone and via e-mails. She was professional and showed a great deal of spirituality and love for what she does. Our ceremony was beautiful. I will never forget it. Thanks again!

Reverend Shobha exceeded our expectations for our wedding ceremony. Our wedding group also commented on how beautiful the ceremony was performed. My wife and I were so happy with ceremony performed by Rev. Shobha. She made our day special. The ceremony could not have been more perfect. Many of our guests commented to me on how lovely and beautiful they thought the presentation was, and I agree. Rev Shobha is a true professional. For the month and days leading up to the wedding we were in constant contact by phone and e-mail. She asked all the right questions and provided the layout of the ceremony to us in an easy to follow manner. We cannot thank her enough for the wonderful job she did.

Reverend Shobha Hughes is amazing. She took the time to get to know us and understand what we wanted for our wedding. Shobha is an amazing, warm and spiritual person who married us in central park with such a beautiful service - I would recommend her to everyone. The wedding was absolutely beautiful because Shobha took us both by the hand literally and lead us through all the ins and outs including the address of where to get our marriage license! Our wedding was exactly the way we requested with such valuable input on sacred and not so sacred texts with wonderful quotes as well.

Shobha felt like family and is a true professional while still being warm and loving. I cannot say enough nice words about her.

Shobha was the best officant we could have asked for. Every guest kept telling us what a great ceremony we had and how good was our officiant. Our parents came from other countries so she learned how to say "welcome" in their native language. She was great at acknowledging our guests, providing us with options for our vows, ring exchange words, readings and all kind of traditions you might wish for. We did not have to do any other work related to the ceremony, she had it all figured out.

When we decided to get married in New York, we initially did not know where to turn to find someone to give us the private and intimate service that we wanted. Fortunately we contacted Shobha by e-mail and were delighted when we received a phone call from her. All of the other officiants only e-mailed us and it was immediately obvious on talking to her that she was the perfect minister for our needs.

In the weeks leading up to the ceremony the contact with Shobha was excellent and she explored our needs and wishes making helpful suggestions where appropriate, but never trying to take over our plans. It was great to know that if we had a question it would be answered swiftly and we always felt that our special day was being given the consideration we would have wanted.

On our wedding day, everything went according to plan. It was a lovely ceremony, tailored according to our wishes and held in a beautiful location in Central Park. It was everything we could have wished for and exceeded our expectations. Shobha’s husband, Chris happens to be an events photographer and took some lovely photos of our special occasion. All in all, I cannot recommend Chris & Shobha enough for your special day.

First and foremost i would like to say how warm and comfortable she made my spouse and i feel. She was the first and last officiant that we sat down with for our wedding. After we met with her we didn't want to interview any other officant to do the job. We felt comfortable. shobha brings a strong spiritual bond from the first day you meet her. We felt as if we knew her all our lives. She is willing to listen and give feedback to make your special day a phenomenal one. The way she wrote out the ceremony showed us how much she paid attention to what was important to us by including it in. She was very professional, honest, warm, encouraging and very creative. She kept the guest involved in the wedding. Many guest at my wedding spoke about how much of a great job she did. My best friend already asked me to keep in touch with her for her wedding. She will definitely be the officiant for my first Childs christening!

You will not find a better officiant in NYC than Rev. Hughes. She takes the time to get to know you so that your wedding is not just a ceremony, but instead is a precious memory celebrating your love for each other. After your wedding, Rev Hughes continues to follow-up, making sure you receive license and all your needs are met. An extra bonus is that her husband is a photographer and we received a CD of our pictures before we left town.

We had never met Reverand Shobha before, but she tailored the ceremony to our lives and made it very personal. She asked us a lot of questions to determine what we would like at this very special time in our lives, and tailored the ceremony to fit our individual tastes! She even included our children in the ceremony, which was very important to us. She not just conducted a wedding ceremony-but enhanced our experience through her personalization of our family! It was important to us that this be a family experience, and she did a great job with the whole experience. We were very appreciative of the extra steps that she took-including providing an opportunity for us to have photographs taken. We were married at central park on June 24th by reverend Shoba Hughes.

She showed us a few different locations to have our wedding one being too crowded and the other under a magnificent tree located in central park, the location was perfect!

The ceremony was beautiful, she put her own personal touches into it which meant a lot to the both of us. We had an amazing day with an amazing woman. Our day was perfect and we will never forget it.

We were extremely nontraditional. Shoba provided incredible responsiveness and patience before, during, and after our service.

We had a very unconventional ceremony. She was very flexible and helped guide us while incorporating our views. She was willing to go as far as taking a train two hours from her home to come preform the ceremony.
