Wonderful counselor, definitely the voice you want to marry you!

Working with Rev Powell was beneficial in helping us firm up the foundation we had been building in our relationship prior to taking the next step of marriage. We were able to identify subjects we hadn't thought about in the 5 years of dating and discuss more solid plans for our future family. Rev Powell was flexible with our wedding changes due to COVID, great with adjusting to our desires for our ceremony, and wonderfully engaging yet brief on the day of the wedding!

What a blessing!

Rev. Powell's ministry for counseling and marrying couples in the DC, MD, and VA area is truly anointed!!! I found his services online just two months before my wedding. Yet, he was more than accommodating to the plans we had already set in place for our nuptials. He only insisted that my fiance' and I get premarital counseling before performing our ceremony - which we both only agreed to reluctantly. Now, we can't thank him enough for that gesture of love!!! His sessions were all divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit - such that he led us each time in prayer and then into a scripture-based dialogue that touched on all of the things we were both either feeling or experiencing but unable to talk about with each other. We could also feel the presence of the Lord so heavily in his home office each and every time we met with him. In fact ... by the time we came to the end of our premarital counseling, Rev. Powell had to reassure us both that if we needed him after we were married that he would have an open door for us. LOL... And on the day of my wedding, he arrived promptly beautifully robed and he carried out my entire ceremony graciously and elegantly. What a blessing the entire day was because of the favor on his ministry - I can't recommend him enough for your wedding!!!

What we needed

First I want to give advice to any couple that plan on embarking on this journey called marriage to seek pre-martial counseling even if it’s not required by your church or officiant. Rev. Powell was truly a blessing to my now Husband and I. He really took the time to explain what love really means through the eyes of our Creator and not based on the vanity and surface love you see in movies and In society today. We truly couldn't have asked for a better officiant. After each session we felt encouraged, as well as challenged, and it reaffirmed why we were right for each other, but at the same time what work we needed to do to keep our relationship on solid ground. We are very thankful to God for putting Rev. Powell in our path. And we know that even after the Ceremony we have someone to go to when we need help through this journey.

Inspirational & Amazing

We’re so thankful and truly grateful to have Reverend Alvin L. Powell join us together in holy matrimony on our wedding September 28, 2019. Rev. Powell was truly a blessing to us. We knew from our first consultation for our pre-marital counseling that he was a true man of God, and we couldn’t have asked for a better counselor, officiant who is sincere, patient, kind, gentle, and passionate for our wedding. His advice and wise counsel to start our marriage God’s way and build on an enduring foundation was very practical, insightful, and enlightening. In addition, we also had the pleasure of Rev. Powell’s wife, Beverly joined us for a counseling session. Her invaluable input was a great takeaway for us too. We both highly recommend his scripture based premarital counseling.
The entire wedding ceremony from Rev Powell’s warm greetings, prayers, scripture reading, declarations, exchanges of vows, ring and unity candle ceremony, the benediction, and every aspect of his program were awesome, and exceeded our expectation. My husband and I, our families and friends were very impressed and deeply touched with his service. We highly recommend him to any couples looking for tools for a successful, God-centered marriage from a true man of God, a professional counselor and sincere officiant for your very special day.

Blessed Experience

Rev. Powell was truly a blessing to us, and we couldn't have asked for a better officiant. The pre-marital counseling sessions with him truly helped provide us with the tools and insight for a God-centered marriage. Each session built on from the ones before it, and along the way we felt encouraged, as well as challenged, and were reminded of what matters most as we prepared for our next chapter. Rev. Powell is very kind, responsive, patient, and professional. He is very intentional about his work, from the first consultation call, all the way to the big day. He did wonderful with our wedding ceremony, where God's presence was truly felt. We are very thankful to God for blessing us with Rev. Powell.

Practical, Powerful, Memorable

Wonderful & Invaluable Experience!

We couldn't have made a better choice of officiant for our May Wedding! Reverend Powell was sincere and professional from the initial consultation, throughout pre-marital counseling, and during the ceremony. We could tell he truly cared about providing us with the tools for a successful, lasting marriage under God.

Great Experience

We booked Rev Powell, after finding him on here. He met with us right after contacting him--finding out, he lived down the street from us. He was kind, and professional throughout the whole process. Rev. Powell, takes his ministry serious and wants to ensure he is officiating weddings according to God's will. He offers pre-marital counseling, and wants to ensure couples are equipped and prepared for marriage. Great experience!

God sent Officiant

Rev. Powell is a true man of God. He provided Godly counseling and support as my husband and I prepared for our wedding. If you are looking for an Officiant to truly blessed your ceremony I highly recommend his ministry. Rev. Rev. Powell was outstanding. He did a phenomenal job! We loved his humor, how he engaged the audience, and most importantly how he shared the Word of God concerning marriage. Everyone should have received a take away regarding the Word from the ceremony, and from the responses that we received, that goal was accomplished. Reverend Alvin was wonderful and a great person to work with. Very easy going and we felt very comfortable with him from the very beginning. I would definitely recommend his premarital counseling sessions. We gainec such helpful and I insightful I formation but marriage and ourselves. I enjoyed the sessions very much and loved it that his wife, Beverly was able to sit in and provide another side to things. They were able to share some so fearful stories!

The ceremony was beautifully done and intimate. Reverend Alvin was available to help with our rehearsal and his wife was very sweet to help out with coordinating the lining up of the bridal party the day of the wedding.

I am so thankful for all there help and support! Thank you both for making a difference and caring!

We were beyond happy with Reverend Powell's leadership and engagement during the wedding process and pre-marital counseling. Reverend Powell keeps teachings from the bible central to every session and the wedding ceremony, yet utilizes diagnostic tools to help couples gain deeper awareness of self and their partner--thus resulting in deeper connection and a stronger foundation. He is extremely professional and utilizes examples from his own marriage and mistakes, which gave us hope. He is extremely reliable and truly enjoys what he does.

My wife and I are so thankful for everything Rev. Powell did to make our wedding so perfect! We feel so blessed by the event and it could not have been more special. The ceremony was very wonderful and Rev. Powell's customization made it all the better. Several people have told us how moved they were by the ceremony and how blessed they were as well.

In addition to the wedding ceremony, my wife and I completed the pre-marital counseling with Rev. Powell. In the sessions, Rev. Powell was a great listener and did not choose any sides. Any teachings provided was based upon the Word and several readings were given as well (which are very helpful I may add!).

We loved having Rev. Powell not only as our officiant but also as our counselor. The pre-martial counseling was a great benefit and really focused on how to communicate with each other. We loved having his wife who is also an officiant also join in on the discussions and see how a couple should work together. Rev. Powell was on time and very professional. We asked that he add the "blessing of the hands" and move some things around during the ceremony and he did it with no problems. I would recommend him to any one that ask me 100%!

Reverend Powell is amazing! We started interacting more during the premarital counseling and he proved to be an amazing counsellor and man of God. After our first session we developed an immediate liking of him and we thanked God for the great choice we made to have him officiate our wedding. He took care of all our concerns, using his own personal experiences as a married man, and also drawing a lot from the bible. The reverend offered to have his wife conduct one counseling session and we were deeply touched by this; he is a great inspiration.

He was punctual during the rehearsal and he patiently waited for the wedding party to arrive, and even after the rehearsal he still found time to interact with us. The wedding ceremony went on smoothly and everybody in attendance was appreciative of the manner in which the ceremony was conducted. We couldn't have asked for more. I have to mention that the Reverend has left the door open for us to reach out to him anytime whenever we have an issue to discuss.

Reverend Powell officiated our wedding ceremony this past November 2016. My husband and I were very pleased with Rev. Powell's services. Our ceremony was exceptional and exactly what we wanted; faith based and centered around Christ. We received so many compliments from guests how they loved the ceremony! We also did premarital counseling with Rev. Powell. We really appreciated that he required the counseling and was not just going to perform our marriage without getting to know us and giving us the proper tools for starting our lives together. The counseling was awesome and revealed to us so many things about ourselves individually and gave us strategies for a successful marriages based on Biblical principles. I would definitely recommend Rev. Powell. My husband and I were 100% pleased and very appreciative.

Reverend Alvin Powell provided superb service with little notice. Upon contacting Reverend Powell, he was gracious enough to meet with us the weekend before the ceremony, provided an extended counseling session or "boot camp" style of counseling, as well as a temperament profile which we found enlightening and very beneficial, all supported by scripture(s). We left with a new and a renewed relationship with Jesus Christ. We were blessed to have been led to Reverend Powell and he was an amazing officiant and extremely professional. I am truly grateful to have had Reverend Powell be a part of this momentous occasion.

Reverend Powell recently served as the officiant for my wedding on November 19, 2016. I would highly recommend Reverend Powell for any couple planning to get married. I found his approach to be thoughtful and thought provoking, insightful, honest and spiritually enlightening. I believe that he is truly committed to the sanctity of marriage and getting couples to critically think about where they stand regarding their relationship with God, as a couple and as individuals. He was thorough in every facet of his practice from a counseling perspective, his use of the bible and other texts as well. Never had an experience like it. More importantly, he is easy to talk to by the time I left his home, I felt reinvigorated and really saw myself as a child of God. We need to clone more Reverend Powell's if it is possible. He is saving love and lives. You will not regret knowing him. I am very critically and skeptical about many people in regard to issues relating to Christianity but he is the first person to ever make sense to me. I learned a lot from him about myself, my wife and God which I plan to carry through marriage.

Reverend Powell was amazing before during and after our wedding. He made us feel comfortable on our initial meeting and gave us best practices as we enter marriage. Also, we did the bootcamp with him as we wanted some premarital couseling. I would recommend this service with him.

Reverend Powell was responsive at all times and on time for our rehearsal and wedding day. All of our guests commented on how beautiful our service was and the message from Reverend Powell was great.

Don't hesitate to book Reverend Powell for your wedding day. He was the best decision we made!

Having Reverend Powell for an officiator was one of the highlights of our wedding day. We came across his website while browsing for a local officiator and reached out to him right away, although our request came on a short notice he was kind enough to take us on. As part of his service one thing we were very pleased with was getting the premarital counseling which was sincere, thoughtful and resonating. Comes the special day Rev. Powell accommodated our request very well and made sure the ceremony went beautifully.

Rev. Powell was extremely helpful with our pre-marital counseling and as an officiant for our wedding. We feel Rev. Powell really prepared us for our marriage, wedding ceremony, and beyond. We are certainly prepared to use the tools we gained during our counseling for our lives together. Many of our wedding guests commented that Rev. Powell provided a wonderful and unique ceremony as well as an excellent explanation of marriage and the importance of two people joining together as one. We highly recommend Rev. Powell for other couples looking for an officiant and also pre-marital counseling to put them on a road to a successful marriage. It was truly special to have Rev. My husband and I utilized Reverend Powell's services for pre-marital counseling and officiating. He was absolutely wonderful! The pre-marital counseling was very comprehensive and laid a great foundation for our marriage. I was impressed with Rev Powell's knowledge, life experiences, and liked the way he incorporated the Bible into the counseling. Including a religious-based foundation highlights the importance of ensuring God remains an integral part of marriage and its sacredness. Rev Powell was very flexible, patient and kind. Also, all of our family and friends commented on how well he officiated our wedding ceremony. They really liked his preparedness and the substance/layout/order of events during the ceremony. I would highly recommend Rev Powell as a part of anyone's wedding journey!

Reverend Powell was great!!! There were many decisions and selections for the wedding that I went back and forth on but choosing Reverend Powell as the officiant was one of the few no brainers! The first time my now husband and I met with him we knew he was the one we wanted to officiate our wedding.

I highly recommend the counseling services offered by Rev Powell. We had started going to another counselor for our marriage counseling but we got very little out of it. We went through the bootcamp with Rev Powell however and it was amazing and we learned so much from it! Rev Powell really provided the strong basis that we needed to start our faith based marriage. The book he uses for his counseling sessions is also great and really helps with dealing with conflicts in a faith based way and the right way to communicate. Rev Powell was always professional and very responsive to all of my emails. Rev Powell also let us know that since he was performing our marriage he felt responsible for us and that we could come to him with any issues we may have in the future. I can't begin to describe how comforting those words were to us.

In reference to the ceremony, it was great and all my guests had nothing but positive comments. I am catholic and my husband is Baptist and Rev Powell did a great job of keeping it very spiritual but non-denominational. My mom made a last minute request to Rev Powell to include the 'our father' in the ceremony and Rev Powell surprised us by singing it. He has a great singing voice and this addition to the ceremony made it all the more special.

Rev Powell also had the most affordable rates that I found in my research. The value provided for this rate is phenomenal. I highly recommend that you choose Reverend Powell to officiate your special day.

Rev. Powell officiated our wedding in October 2015. We found him through Wedding Wire and were impressed with all of the positive reviews posted. We feel extremely blessed to have found him to officiate our wedding. We were impressed with him from our first meeting. He was very knowledgeable about the Bible, relationships, and marriage, and we especially liked his calm and comforting demeanor, which made us confident that we found the right minister to marry us. Rev. Powell led a marriage bootcamp for us that consisted of us meeting with him for a couple hours and working on a workbook that we know will help in building a stronger unity for our marriage. He was always responsive to our emails and arrived early for our rehearsal and wedding day. Also, most importantly, Rev. Powell did a wonderful job of officiating our ceremony. It was just what we envisioned for our very special day and we received so many compliments from our families and friends about what an amazing job he did. We highly recommend Rev. Powell and encourage you to look no further in selecting a wedding officiant. Rev. Powell is a man of God and his wisdom, and calm spirit will bless you greatly.

During our initial meeting with Min. Powell we realize after only a few moments we found an amazing person to minister into our marriage. He and his wife had our best interest at heart, and was devoted to helping us truly understand the meaning of marriage. As we worked our way through our marriage counseling classes our bond with him grew each visit. He continued to ask questions to help us with our covenant. When our wedding day final arrived, Min. Powell gave an amazing ceremony, with powerful scriptures that reflected on our teachings.

Me and my wife were very happy with the job Rev. Powell did officiating our wedding. He was very helpful with planning the ceremony and was able to customize it in terms of what we wanted to add to the ceremony. We also participated in his premarital boot camp and we both learned a lot and feel that it put us on the right path. All of our guests loved the job he did and we'd recommend him to any couple out there in need of a wedding officiant.

Rev. Powell did a beautiful job officiating my marriage ceremony this past July. He was very flexible and met with my and my now husband a couple of times before our wedding. After our initial meeting we participated in his marriage boot camp counseling session. He arrived on time for our rehearsal and was wonderful to work with to prepare our vows. I wholeheartedly would recommend Rev. Powell to officiate your wedding if you want it to be beautiful and memorable. He custom tailors a ceremony for you. He is a great resource and me and my husband have no reservations about contacting him for marital sessions in the future.

On the most important day of my life, I wanted to ensure a perfect experience. We had the perfect wedding ceremony due to our officiant, Rev. Powell, who exceeded our every expectation and worked with us extensively to create the ceremony of our dreams. He offered pre-marital counseling as one of his packages which we wanted. Rev. Powell took the time to know us and made us feel at ease months leading to the wedding & preparing us for the life journey together ahead of us. He was present at the church rehearsal guiding us all for a flawless ceremony the next day. He is Incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and put us all at ease. His willingness and ability to customize our ceremony to satisfy our family's different culture was great. Rev. Powell is dedicated to the ministry of marriage. He met with us twice prior to our wedding day, once as an introduction and second for marriage counseling boot camp. Rev. Powell was flexible and willing to work with our busy schedules.

Rev. Powell ran our rehearsal smoothly and handled the marriage license process for us. On the day of our wedding he delivered a beautiful message that left our guests with chills. Many of them remarked on how meaningful our ceremony was, filled with scriptures that highlighted that a marriage is a reflection of God's love.

As a bonus, Rev. Powell has a beautiful speaking voice.

Mr. Powell was an excellent officant. We reached out to Mr.Powell 3 weeks before our ceremony and he was available and very attentive. Whenever we had a question or need clarification he provided a quick response. For our ceremony, he was excellent. Our guest loved how he incorporated the bridal party by asking them "Will they support us through our marriage" and they said "We will" that was a very unique aspect that many will remember. All in all Mr. Powell is an excellent officant and I would recommend to my friends and family.

Minister Powell and his lovely wife Beverly provided couples counseling to my husband and I. They were extraordinarily accommodating under the most inconvenient of circumstances. We needed a certain number of sessions prior to being married and they squeezed us in after work to get it done. Even in the rush situation, there was zero compromise on quality of service. Additionally, he and his wife are an excellent example of what they teach. They certainly practice what they preach. Minister Powell is highly intelligent, highly competent and has an impressive understanding of the Word of God. Of equal importance, he has the ability to effectively communicate that knowledge to those he's speaking with. Finally, Minister Powell is someone who will put you immediately at ease, he has the most calming and pleasant disposition. I recommend him without reservation.

Minister Alvin Powell is very patient and humble when it comes to servicing others. I have taken classes that he has taught and sat in seminars that he has spoken at regarding marriage. The Powells were excellent ministers for pre-wedding marriage counseling sessions. They gave us a great biblical foundation to build our marriage on. I recommend them for all marriages.
