Rachel is the absolute best!
If we could recommend one partner in our entire wedding planning, it would be Rachel. She is the most organized, calm, cool, thoughtful person, and she was so integral in bringing our wedding together. We had a long engagement, and we booked Rachel about a year and a half before our wedding date. She balanced the most amazing organizational skills with a relaxed attitude, and she helped us prioritize our list of tasks. She also is close with all of the MDI wedding companies, and is constantly speaking with BHCC, Salt Farm Flowers and others which made the whole process feel more unified. Rachel really picked up her involvement in the ~six weeks before our wedding, and she was an absolute savior the week of our wedding. There were so many last minute curveballs, and Rachel took care of all of them, often without us even knowing. Every time we told a vendor that Rachel was our planner, they responded “oh you’re in the best hands.” She’s someone we loved getting to spend time with, and our wedding would absolutely not been the same without her. She’s truly the best, and we are so grateful that we found her. -

Dream Wedding Planner
RL Sisson Events is the answer to your prayers. We retained Rachel’s services to plan our Welcome Party and wedding in July 2021 and it was easily the single best decision we made in planning these events. We love Bar Harbor but planned our wedding celebration in 6 months from 5 hours away. Once we picked our date and venue, Rachel outreaches to some wonderful bands and pointed us in the direction of bands who were available for our date. Time and again, when we needed to choose a vendor, Rachel had the most fantastic recommendations. When it was time to do the cake, she connected us with her preferred vendor. I don’t actually like cake normally because I dislike frosting. But OF COURSE the baker we connected with was able to make us a chocolate and yellow cake with chocolate ganache and peanut butter mousse filling WITH a whipped cream frosting. It is the best cake I have ever eaten. It’s been 5 days since the wedding and the cake has retained its moisture and tasted just as good as it did in the day of.
I also wanted some blueberry baked good for the welcome bags. Rachel found a local baker to make the most scrumptious blueberry muffins. They were TO DIE FOR. Our guests talked about them for days and even sought out the vendor to buy more.
Rachel could not have made the process any easier or seamless. Rachel is experienced, professional, available, and a joy to work with. She has strong relationships with the vendors on the island which seemed to make us VIP customers wherever we went. I so appreciated Rachel’s ability to support us in making our own decisions while also being available for her counsel when we needed it. Getting married in Bar Harbor was a dream of ours. She somehow brought our dreams into reality in ways that far exceeded our expectations. Rachel made the process stress free, easy, exciting, and fun. Not only is she fantastic at what she does, she’s an awesome person to be around. She became our biggest cheerleader during the wedding planning process. Her staff is wonderful as well. During our wedding reception, some of the guests were in direct sunlight (as it was an outdoor wedding). She and her staff went above and beyond to hang table linens to temporarily shade our guests. Rachel’s staff was just as professional, hard working, and lovely to work with as she was. I feel incredibly lucky that we were able to work with Rachel. If you have any hesitation on whether or not you need RL Sisson events, I hope I’ve convinced you.R.L. Sisson Events's reply:

After two failed covid attempts, my daughter finally had her dream wedding in Bar Harbor this past July....thanks in no small part to our wedding planner (who we like to think became our friend). Like other reviewers have stated....if you're looking to get married in, MDI...LOOK NO FURTHER than Sisson Events to plan your wedding day! Rachel is incredibly smart, kind, attentive, enthusiastic, punctual, innovative and full of fabulous wedding ideas. This clearly wasn't her first rodeo! Rachel actually listens and hears what your wedding vision is and makes it become a reality. We were planning the wedding long distance and had to ship quite a few boxes to Maine. The package that held lobster shaped cookies for our welcome bags was sent to the wrong address and my daughter was visibly upset. Rachel very calmly told us that she had a friend who could bake us 200 fresh blueberry muffins that night to replace the cookies in the bag....AND, Rachel went to the grocery store to buy the blueberries and delivered them to the baker! Above and beyond!! Rachel's services were excellent...I can't think of one negative! -

Our wedding would not have been the same without Rachel Sisson and her team. We had family and friends traveling from all over the world and wanted to spend time with them vs trying to plan and organize. Rachel was incredibly helpful when it came to the small details -- she helped us devise a timeline for our day, down to 15 minute increments, which I wouldn't have thought to do without her. She had truly thought of everything --like beautiful vases on the tables that really contributed to the mood of our wedding. Finally, Rachel was incredibly relaxed, which was just what needed in a joyful, but stressful, time of planning! Would definitely recommend. -

Rachel was absolutely amazing to work with and made the whole wedding planning experience fun and easy for us. A friend recommended Rachel and we are so grateful because working with her made the whole process really enjoyable. We had conceptual ideas about what we wanted to do, but she knew how to make it happen and thought of every possible detail, so we didn't have to worry about forgetting something important. Not only is she the most organized and knowledgeable person, but she literally knows every single vendor in the greater MDI area, so working with her makes everything run seamlessly.
We live in NYC, but were getting married in Bar Harbor and Rachel was so generous with her time and expertise. Going on site visits, scoping out options, sending us photos, answering all our random questions! She is on every last detail, but never made us feel overwhelmed. Her calm and collected demeanor made us trust her completely and she exceeded all our expectations.
Not only did she make everything run smoothly, but she was so kind and thoughtful, too. At the end of the night, she had a box of desserts for me and my husband because we both got so caught up dancing that we never made it to our dessert table! She is simply the best!R.L. Sisson Events's reply:

Carissa Sent on 09/17/2018We met Rachel when we first looked at College of the Atlantic as our wedding venue. I volunteer at the school, so the idea of getting married there already held appeal. When we realized that we would also be working with Rachel, we immediately stopped looking at venues. We were fortunate enough to have Rachel's assistance as coordinator, and not just a "day-of" organizer. She was an essential part of the planning of our wedding and her attention to detail ensured that all of the timing, vendor contacts, and orders were trouble free. She thought of all the details, large and small, that made the difference. I had *a lot* of DIY projects and quirky ideas that I wanted to incorporate into the reception, and had the added issue of distance (we live 2 hrs away, and our florist was coming from NJ). Rachel handled all of this with grace and the highest degree of professionalism. She fully embraced my "vision" of the day and brought it to life. I can't thank her, and her assistant, Nina, enough for their tireless efforts in those last 48 hrs. They not only got everything done, but it was done beautifully, and perfectly in keeping with what I had pictured in my mind. We also had minor weather issues, but with back up plans in place, the passing rain was a minor distraction. In the end, it only enhanced the ceremony.
It is the mark of a true professional for the client to not even realize the full extent of the "job" until after it is completed. As the guests left, and only Rachel remained, blowing out candles and turning off the lights, I realized just how much she had done to make our day perfect. By the end of the planning process, I felt like I was working with a friend who was just as invested as I was in making the day special. Rachel helped us accomplish this, and more. Laila Sent on 07/24/2018Rachel is absolutely wonderful -- we could never have done our wedding without her! She is incredibly creative, helping to come up with ideas that would help us bring our vision to life without breaking our budget. Always responsive, she was also really wonderful at keeping stress levels low for us (the couple) and our parents. She manages money, logistics, vendors and emotions with such poise and grace, she's a total wonder! She stepped in to help us coordinate our rehearsal dinner at the last minute and made it an incredibly seamless event. We would hire her over again, again and again. It was the best day of our lives, all thanks to her hard work!

Thea Sent on 07/06/2018Rachel is incredible. She is calm under pressure, flexible in difficult situations, and professional, with such a warm personality. We chose Rachel as our Day-of-Coordinator, but she was so much more than that. She helped us with decisions big and small throughout the planning process and was always good about responding with factual, relevant information. The value of Rachel's services were well beyond what we expected. She is just such a hard worker and willing to do whatever it takes to make your day the way you really want it.
Also, my husband and I are from out of town, so Rachel was instrumental in helping us get those "on the site details" we weren't able to see in person. Her love for MDI and Maine are so apparent; she knows vendors from all of the island so it's easy to create a rapport with them from hundreds of miles away.

Allison Sent on 09/02/2018Hiring Rachel was hands-down the best decision we made during the wedding-planning process! We can't recommend her highly enough. She is deeply connected to so many contacts and resources in the downeast area and will help you think through all the options available to complete your wedding vision according to your budget. She is also lovely to work with-- she effortlessly coordinated between various moving parts, perspectives, and personalities to create the most joyous celebration for our families. My husband and I can truly say we were so relaxed throughout the entire wedding weekend, knowing that Rachel had everything under control. She made it seem effortless (even if she was working magic behind the scenes!), and she thought of everything. She even suggested last-minute tweaks-- like outdoor firepits with s'mores fixings-- that made the event even more special. We could not have done it without her.

From our very first phone call, it was clear that Rachel had the experience, resources, relationships, and cheerfulness that would make planning our wedding as successful and stress-free as possible. She tailored her services to meet our needs and understood our goals and vision so clearly that I often wondered if she could read my mind. When our wedding day arrived, everything was so perfectly planned and I’d had so many interactions with Rachel that – funny as it sounds – she felt more like a sister or friend celebrating with us rather than a planner running around with a clipboard. It went THAT smoothly!
Her responsiveness, positivity, relaxed demeanor, and close proximity to our vendors and venue gave me confidence and comfort throughout our (short!) six-month planning process. If a vendor was slow to respond, she knew whom to text to push things forward. When runners for farm tables were too expensive on Etsy, she bought fabric in bulk and had “her girl” cut and sew them more cheaply. She lent us her own floating candle votives to complete our romantic table settings. For everything from table décor to paper goods to cocktail napkins, Rachel pointed us in the direction of the best, cheapest vendors. She personally oversaw the rental company putting up the tent, placing the tables, and setting each place setting.
In summary, every detail of our wedding far exceeded our wildest imaginations! Rachel was a true partner, a trusted advisor, and effective executor throughout our planning journey. After the wedding, even our friends and family commented on how wonderful Rachel was and how masterfully executed the event was.
