Amazing!!!
We had the absolute best experience with Ches and Heather from Quetzal Wedding Photo’s for our wedding photography! From the very first message, they were so responsive, organized, and genuinely excited to help make our day amazing. They walked us through everything, helped us pick the perfect package, and made the whole planning process feel so easy and exciting right from the start.
On the wedding day, they kept everything flowing so smoothly that we were actually able to relax and enjoy every second of it. We’re definitely not people who naturally feel comfortable in front of a camera, but somehow Ches and Heather made it feel completely effortless. They made us laugh, helped us feel relaxed, and honestly just felt like people we’d known forever. Nothing ever felt awkward or overly posed, which made such a huge difference for us.
They also knew all the best spots around the resort for photos and guided us so naturally throughout the day. What really amazed us though was how they captured so much more than just pictures, they captured the entire feeling of the day. Looking through our gallery brings back every emotion all over again. The excitement, the nerves, the laughter, the happy tears, and all the little moments we didn’t even realize were happening at the time. The photos feel so genuine and full of life, and that is something we’ll treasure forever.
We were also blown away by how fast we received everything. We got sneak peeks within just a few days, and our full gallery was delivered within two weeks of the wedding!

El trato súper amable, el servicio súper profesional, solo recibí comentarios positivos por parte de mis invitados y además nos tuvieron listas nuestras fotos en tiempo record (1 semana) nadie lo podíamos creer. Walk don't run to hire Ches and Heather!
One of the absolute best decisions we made was hiring our photographers, Ches and Heather. They were fun, calm, and incredibly talented, which mattered a lot on a day that ended up being a little chaotic thanks to rain. Instead of adding stress, they helped turn it into something truly memorable. They knew the resort layout and best photo spots immediately, pivoted effortlessly when weather shifted, and kept everything moving without making it feel rushed. Our photos are stunning, full of emotion and joy, and somehow still feel very “us.” They also turned around our gallery unbelievably fast and even shared some fun Instagram content right away, which was such a bonus.
For comparison, we did use the in-house resort photographer for our rehearsal dinner, and while that was fine, the difference in quality, creativity, and overall experience was very noticeable.Quetzal Wedding Photo's reply:

The Magic Captures✨📸
We are beyond grateful to have had the privilege of working with Ches and Heather for our wedding. From the moment they arrived, they fit so seamlessly into our day — it never felt staged or forced. They immersed themselves so naturally, instantly putting us, our families, and our friends at ease and making everyone feel comfortable, confident, and truly themselves.
The photos are nothing short of breathtaking. I honestly cannot thank them enough — every image is stunning. Above and Beyond
When planning our wedding my fiance and I had a very particular image we wanted to use for our invites. I saw wonderful reviews about Quetzal from a Facebook group and decided to reach out to them to see if they could capture our vision. Not only did they find the perfect location for us to capture our picture, but they went above and beyond. The weather was not in our favor when we were visiting Mexico. They suggested we move our appointment to the next day and were flexible to reschedule to get the best images. Unfortunately, the weather never really let up and we had a flight to catch. Heather kept in constant contact with us to update us with the best windows of time to make it happen. Due to the weather, we were late meeting them, and they were so sweet and patient with us. They put all their heart in every photo session
I met them after my own wedding and always loved their work . We hire them for a photo session for our 10 year anniversary and we had LOTS of fun! , they made us feel super special all the time and were able to capture the essence of our celebration in a very unique way , we loved the final pictures and will treasure them for life. I found Quetzal through Wedding Wire and within minutes I had a call scheduled with Heather. She made me feel really comfortable and I wanted a team of women so if anything was out of place they would be able to fix it.
We hired them for both the welcome party and wedding day. My husband isn’t the biggest fan of photographers and he really enjoyed the team.
Also, within 24 hours of our wedding they posted sneak peeks on instagram which was a great surprise! Within 6 days they posted 60+ photos on Facebook and sent us a link to 100+ photos. We look great in our photos and they did an awesome job at capturing the vibe of our wedding.
We hired them for our 2 hour welcome party and 8 hours on our wedding day. I’m so glad they stayed until the end because the sloppy dance floor photos of our guests (and some of us too) are amazing.
Quetzal Photography absolutely exceeded my expectations! We love our photos and Ches, Heather and Laura are so much fun! Our wedding weekend flew by and it is so great to have amazing photos to look back on such a fun weekend with our family and friends.
Our wedding was on 11/11 and since we had sneak peeks less than a week later I was able to order thank you cards, Christmas gifts and New Years cards. We received our full gallery on 12/24 (Christmas came early!). My husband says now we have an excuse to go back to Mexico if we ever need more professional photos taken. Best Photographers of All Time!
Heather was incredibly helpful and explained what to expect/ask the photographers we were evaluating. After a few calls with Heather and seeing Quetzal's work, we knew they were the photographers that would help us be comfortable and really enjoy the experience.
There were quite a few speed bumps with our wedding planner, but Heather and Ches saved our wedding day. They were the glue that kept everything together, we are so grateful for these ladies!

Absolutely amazing!
Not only are the photos amazing, the service, the communication, the professionalism, the flexibility and the sense of comfort you get from these girls is beyond amazing! Being that it’s a destination wedding, taking a risk on a photographer is nerve racking but they did not disappoint one bit!!!!! Not only did we notice it, but every guest couldn’t stop talking about how awesome our photographers were! If we could take them home with us we would! We would totally use them for every function, but unfortunately this was a destination wedding and a once in a lifetime event. And I couldn’t be more thankful for the moments they captured! When they captured the photos they captured the emotions in the photo which is absolutely astonishing! We woke up the next morning, with a ton of notifications from quetzal on instagram & facebook with photos and clips from the wedding! Our hearts were absolutely full! The turn around to receive the photos was beyond expected! Only thing I regret not doing is getting the bigger package and the video package! They are worth every penny if not more! Quetzal you have my vote 10000 times over! There are so many positive things to say! They are a fun group you will be laughing and having fun! Nothing is worse than a photographer without a sense of emotion or humor!

Everyone commented on how amazing the photos were! Our friend who is a professional photographer said it was some of the best photos he'd ever seen. Ches and Florencia were so easy to work with and in tune with what we were looking for. They gave us direction and guidance that didn't make us feel weird or forced- it just felt right :) They worked very well with our wedding coordinator and everything flowed absolutely perfectly. We were late to our reception so we asked to extend by an hour and it was almost like a no-brainer for them and said YES immediately!! Again, so in tune and flexible. Reach out to Quetzal!
I looked at many photographers in the Cancun area when planning my wedding. I chose Quetzal because I loved the look of their photos. I booked them very early (about 2 years before our wedding) because photography was probably my highest priority. During those 2 planning years, I followed Quetzal on social media. I quickly learned that not only are they amazing photographers, they are amazing people. They are in many of the social media wedding groups and Heather will offer help and advice to anyone asking for help, even those who are not their client. Quetzal is so quick to answer messages. I asked for suggestions on excursions and Heather was quick to provide many great ideas. We received 'sneak peeks" a few days after our wedding and we received all of our photos just over one month after our wedding. Our photos are absolutely gorgeous. Many of our guests told us afterwards how great our photographers were. Heather and Ches also helped throughout the day in many ways. They helped organize our guests for photos and the flow of the day. They communicated with our wedding coordinator and other vendors. The ladies of Quetzal are experts at capturing emotion and beauty and grace. They are also kind and have a sense of humor. You will not regret at least talking with them for a consultation. Captured the Love
I loved they way they used light and composition, as well as color, in their photos. This was the reason we hired them. But it only got better, they were very responsive to any communication as this was a destination wedding and details can be difficult via emails. They were quick and replied rapidly.
The day of the wedding was wonderful and they were knowledgeable about what and where to take the portraits at the resort. We are so happy we went with Quetzel! Heather immediately reached out to us and we look for information. We had a phone call a few days after that and immediately felt comfortable with them. These photographers did amazing, my pictures look outstanding. I had many stressful moments in my wedding but they made sure to only capture the beautiful moments. They went above and beyond to get every single picture. And they even told us how to pose and me and my fiancé don’t know much about how to pose for pictures so that was really helpful. Absolutely amazing!

Our wedding was Nov 5 at Dreams Jade. I know it's been a while since then but better late than never lol.
We had such a great experience working with the ladies of Quetzal Wedding Photography. The whole process from the first phone call to the day of the wedding was easy. They were easily available via email and understanding/compassionate when we talked about some of our worries/insecurities about photos with them.
Day of wedding they were fun and professional. I was anxious about my hair/make up being behind but they were very understanding.
The pictures came out amazing. There are so many good pictures of my husband and I and of my friend and family. They were also fast with getting us a preview album as well as the full album.

Ches and Heather were wonderful to work with from the beginning -- they were very detailed, plan-oriented, and transparent about their services. We could definitely tell they were very experienced by the way they knew how to pose us and choose locations for photos. They were also creative throughout the night -- if they saw a good photo location, they would pull us aside to shoot it. Our guests commented to us after the wedding about how attentive the photographers were. Their turn-around time was surprisingly quick (hundreds of photos in about 4 weeks!) and the photos are absolutely gorgeous. I found Quetzal on Instagram, then read their reviews here on WeddingWire and scoured through the photos on their website before finally meeting with them. I was instantly comfortable with Heather and was confident they would provide the best experience so I hired them for the full day, like 10 hours, on our wedding day and a few hours for a pool party the day after our wedding, and they absolutely delivered both days!
They were the highlight of our destination wedding weekend that was plagued with misadventures (because of the resort staff and other vendors) and they didn't let those other people ruin my excitement! They actually helped to keep my disastrous coordinator and other vendors in line too which was super helpful. For instance, several of my guests weren't served dinner at our reception and sadly they were part of that group, but the quetzal team suffered through with smiles on their faces reminding me "not to worry" and "to enjoy my big day". Also, I hired a separate videographer and they made every effort to coordinate with them in advance and follow up with them too, ensuring that they delivered for me too–I'm sure the videographers learned a lot from Quetzal too. They didn't just deliver wonderful photos, they delivered spectacular customer service. They helped keep us on schedule and reminded me of photos/poses that I would have forgotten about. They helped art direct us so we looked beautiful not strategically posed even though we were. They were friendly and kind and captured tons of incredible moments. At one point, they were even laying on the dance floor to photograph us taking shots HAHA! They didn't let any burden or blocker prevent them from memorializing our love, our friendships, and our fun.
In addition, they turned around the album so quickly! They even asked to share sneak peak pics on social media the day after the wedding and again the day after our pool party, and then gave us our entire album weeks before the contract date. I also love that the album allows me to see all of the photos, but I can limit the photos seen by guests of the album which is awesome and so easy to access and share. Ahead of our big weekend, I loved that they sent us a survey asking about us as individuals, us as a couple, and our expectations for them – the brief task actually helped me write my vows and my husband and I enjoyed responding to it because it got us excited to talk about our love, our journey, and our optimism for our future together. They care about the holistic experience, not just the day of details.
All in all, Quetzal will bring personality and professionalism to your big day. They are like photo-octopi; using 2 arms to do the work of 8 and fitting in anywhere. They will stop at nothing to deliver incredible service and you'll want to be their friend for life! Communicating prior to arrival was so detailed and informative. I felt comfortable months prior to my wedding that everything would be amazing. I was right! We loved our experience with Ches and Heather. They made us feel like they were old friends and they made sure we got all of the shots we needed. Of course with small children you can never predict when they will cooperate or not and both Ches and Heather calmed me and told me they would get amazing photos of our whole family. Great engagement photo shoot
We hired Chez and Heather for our engagement photos. And we had a blast, they made the whole experience fun and pressure free. We didn’t even had to be worried about our poses or anything like that.
We did Playa del Carmen town and beach photos.
We got our photos with 2 days maybe less.

If you get anything out of my review, it is that I would choose this company for my wedding photos over and over again. If I ever make it back to the Quintana Roo area, I will be contacting them again for as many photo sessions as I can make happen. They are so motivated, have grit, mucho passion and have mastered their craft and it truly comes out in their work.
I contacted Quetzal Wedding Photo back in 2019 when I began my wedding planning. I was contacted by Heather for pricing, and immediately was put at ease, after a quick phone call with her to hash out dates and details of the wedding.
We planned on getting married April 16th 2021, and had to switch our date to April 15th 2022, almost exactly one year apart.
I was so anxious and nervous that the new date that I had in mind, Quetzal would not be available for; but with notice we were able to reschedule without penalties. Which really shows that this company cares about their clients. It was a relief to have the new date set; and to be able to move on with planning, still with them apart of our team.
Leading up to the wedding I got closer and more personal with Heather. Asking her for referrals for other vendors, and opinions on so many wedding topics it’s not worth boring you with those details, but she came through with responses on everything I asked and more. I ended up booking a makeup team that she referred me to, and I was so pleased and grateful with that decision. The hair and makeup team killed it, and to have that referral for something as important as hair and makeup is to me, meant the world to me that this was successful. Truly an above and beyond moment for a photography team to refer me to other incredible vendors.
We booked a hotel room for Quetzal to photograph our rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding. And meeting them was one of the highlights of our trip. I felt like I already knew Heather, and Ches was absolutely beautiful to meet in person and such a vibrant, smart and passionate human all around.
All of the questionnaires that were sent over to me were so helpful and really kept me on track. There’s a lot that goes into planning the day of the wedding with photography, and this really helped to span out the planning, so it wasn’t so overwhelming the week of the wedding. It also allowed Quetzal to be super personal the day of the wedding. I had my niece in a suit on my husbands side standing up as a groomsman, and my uncles walking me down the aisle, and they really normalized our not so traditional event.
Wedding night. 2 years planning, turned into 3 years, and it was well worth the wait. I want to re-live our wedding night over and over and thankfully I can because of my beautiful photos from Quetzal. I had a mouth watering set of sneak peek photos from not only our wedding day, ceremony and reception, but also our rehearsal dinner. SNEAK PEAKS FOR ALL OF THIS while I was still in Mexico, celebrating with my family and friends in paradise. We were all able to have so many quick and stunning, professional photos before we even touched down back home. Brilliant work.
Besides the bride and groom, myself and my husband, that’s all anyone could talk about was how much they loved our photography team. We had Heather, and Ches shooting us, and Dani on lighting. The amount of work that went into the photos that they produced, is beyond this world. To name the most memorable moments:
Dancing with our 70 guests that we were entertaining, getting our ring bearer to smile for the photos, remembering our shot list, ON THE DANCE FLOOR THE ENTIRE NIGHT WITH US, capturing every guest that was sat down in the chair by the luchadores and poured tequila in their mouths, making a hot and steamy scene, with smoke and an urban steel background of the resort, near our reception LAST MINUTE in the middle of our reception, with my husband and I which ended up being my favorite photos. All of it was above and beyond any expectations we had of our photography team.
We were so happy with the decision of booking Quetzal for our rehearsal dinner/welcome party the night before the wedding, along with them capturing our wedding day. The photos from both events were COMPLETELY different. Different scenes, different lighting, different venues, different outfits from our guests, it was so stunning to see the contrast in the photos. We managed to do a moonlit walk on the beach for our couple portraits with Ches and Heather and the colors of the sky in our photos are breath taking. It was such an added bonus to capture this evening with all of our family and friends and to have the photos to look back on, along with our wedding day photos. I was thrilled with the decision to add on photography for our welcome party.
I can’t say enough positive things about this incredible group of people that make up Quetzal Wedding Photo. For our wedding, Ches, Heather and Dani made everything perfect. They went out of their way to make every guest feel included. Our wedding party was so comfortable being photographed by Ches and Heather. Quetzal really made a conscious effort to capture every guest in some way, and it shows in their photos. They were the best cheerleaders, making you feel so confident while they worked. The best team in town
My wife and I hired Heather and Ches when we were wedding planning back in 2019. We were planning a Cancun Sept 2020 wedding and had several photographers who were recommended. We did a few discovery calls and the second we met Heather, we were sold. Heather and Ches have been with us through 3 Covid reschedules, all the ups ad downs, and every step of the journey leading up to our Dac 11th 2021 dream day. Heather and Ches were phenomenal from start to finish. I have never, ever, seen a crew work as hard as Heather and Ches to ensure they get the perfect angle, perfect picture, perfect lighting, etc. Ches literally gets on the ground on the dance floor to get the perfect photo. EVERYONE commented on how amazing our photos were, and the turnaround time was quicker than any other photographer timeline that myself or my friends have worked with. Beyond that, they are truly lovely humans who I sincerely hope to know for the rest of our lives. You will NOT regret hiring Quetzal Photo for the biggest day of your lives. BEST team of photographers EVER!
If you are lucky enough to have Quetzal Photo available on your wedding date, BOOK THEM! I promise you will be more than glad that you did. They were hands down the best vendors to work with throughout our entire wedding planning process. The initial inquiry phone call with Heather was incredibly helpful because on top of providing info about Quetzal's package options, she also talked me through the logistics of the whole day (making me more excited and giving me a clearer vision of what to expect). On that first long call, she also offered helpful wedding planning tips unrelated to photo. From that call and up until the big day. Heather was available via message & email for questions and shared her insight and recommendations whenever she could. I honestly can't imagine what planning would have been like without her on our team!
Come wedding day, Heather, Ches, and their assistant arrived right on time (early even!) and with the BEST energy. They were efficient, transforming spaces, and using all props in unique ways. They made their job look so easy! The team’s professionalism and overall great vibe helped everyone feel comfortable (even my husband enjoyed the getting ready pics because Heather was so easy to be around and cool). So many of our guests commented that their team was the most talented, fun, and ninja-like photographers they'd ever experienced. They got ALL the shots (so many amazing candids!) and then some, and captured the magic of our day so well and beautifully. It's actually impressive how many people have seen our wedding photos and commented that they are the best they've ever seen. On top of their amazing photography work that speaks for itself, Ches and Heather (and their assistant(s)) are incredible humans. We are blessed to know them and cannot thank them enough for the best vendor experience and for our amazing wedding photos and memories that we will cherish forever. Will not regret hiring the best- simply amazing in every way possible
I reached out to Heather months before my wedding- and the chemistry was out of the ballpark. We knew we had to have them at our wedding- their vibe was just something that attracted happiness. We had an extremely customized packaged and was blessed to be with Heather and Ches for 4 days covering four different events. My family fell in love with them from the start. They were nothing short of amazing. Friendly, professional, eye to detail and just saw visions of backdrops and combinations that i would never have thought of. Their teamwork together really just blew me away- the beauty that they create together is breathtaking. They formed relationships with everyone which really made their work even better in my opinion. I never felt more comfortable in front of a camera because THEY made it so easy. Throughout the whole planning process, they gave tips and advice that really made some of the photos even better. I literally cannot say enough amazing things about them, they are the reason we will be coming back next year and using them again! They were punctual to every event, they didn’t exclude anyone, and it was nice when we did the catamaran, they offered to walk with us at Isla Mujeres because they are familiar with that area. They were worth every penny and then some. They were also very helpful with a timeframe of how the wedding photos would be, and then even more accommodating when we had to adjust because it was actually too hot for family portraits on the beach and we had to relocate and come up with another game plan. Prior to our wedding about a week or two, they actually sent 3 questionnaires asking for information about us, about the wedding, and what photos we wanted to have captured. This help set the way for the day of and getting through the photos quickly, especially because we were late. Again, i would recommend Quetzal Photography a million times over, i cannot stress how much not just me but everyone in my family was just blown away by their talent, personality and what they were able to accomplish. Everyone was talking about how amazing their shots and eye for details were. We got our photos back well before we expected them, and loved every single one of them. The photos just captured not just memories but the energies and creativities that I would never in a million years be able to have gotten. Stunning Photos and Overall Great Experience
They were awesome! Highly recommend! Very knowledgeable and experienced team, first walked me through a very detailed timeline of the full wedding day, recommended when to take photos and provided detailed advice. They were very professional and timely with their services, but on top of that, they are so much fun to work with and have at your wedding. Having fun and laid back photographers was important to me because it would help me and guests relax and have fun, and ultimately capture better photos. Very easy to have planning calls via Zoom and communicate using WhatsApp. Sent inspiration photos to them via WhatsApp and they captured similar type photos. These two ladies were one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. We hired Quetzal based on a recommendation from our wedding planner for our engagement session and wedding. They always respond quickly to any question or concerns via email no matter how busy their is schedule. Upon first meeting them, Ches and Heather were welcoming and guided us on what to do and how to pose for the most natural pictures. We were nervous at first since we're not photogenic, but once we got our photos(which we got sneakpeak photos only a few days after our session!), we looked absolutely amazing, natural and most importantly, happy. The photos came out so beautifully that some of my family vacationed in Cancun and they booked a family session with Quetzal(those photos were also beyond beautifully!).
On our wedding day, I was running really behind with hair and makeup, but even still, Ches did her best to capture as many getting ready moments as she could with what time we had left before the ceremony. During the ceremony, they were quiet and quick about taking pictures, we barely even noticed them! Afterwards, they made quick timing getting pictures with our friends and families before moving onto our solo pictures. We were losing daylight and quickly, so Ches and Heather ran around with us all over the resort taking pictures, helping hold my dress over wet puddles, and took the most amazing sunset pictures!!!!! And as we danced the night away, they captured all of our guests having an amazing time.
Everything considered, this team made our dreams come true and helped preserve the memory of our wedding day like no other. I can't praise them enough. I highly recommend them to anyone considering Quetzal photography for any of their special occasions.Quetzal Wedding Photo's reply:

Best photographers ever
We have had 2 sessions with Quetzal, one in 2015 and again last week. All I can say is, WOW! The photos and style are so incredible, I wish they lived in the states so we could do all our photo shoots with them. Seriously their work is just the best. Our toddler was a hot mess and they still managed to get the most amazing shots. When the resort acted weird and wanted an huge fee, Quetzal was super helpful and loaded us into their car to do the photo shoot elsewhere. Quetzal is the team if you want your photographers to have high energy, creative shots, and capture everything!!!
I wanted photographers with high energy to capture my wedding, and I got what I asked for and more. This team did everything to get those amazing shots (I.e= climb a tree, go under a desk, etc) and they make it look seamless. They were so responsive and made you feel so comfortable (my husband and I didn’t take engagement photos and were nervous about this).
For my wedding, I had scheduled them for the welcome party as well but we had a change and Quetzal was SOO accommodating. We ended up doing a trash the dress session which I 100% recommend if you’re on the fence about it. The photos from this are amazingggg (I legit look like a mermaid).

They helped us plan the schedule for our wedding day in order to make the most of the Golden Hour, and it was totally worth it! Our experience with Quetzal was superb from the get go--during the planning process, they really took the time to get to know us as a couple and what we imagined for our day. When it came to the big day, they FAR exceeded our expectations! They had taken the time to scope out our resort (Paradisus Playa del Carmen) and knew all the right places to take us for first look, portraits, nighttime photos, etc. Heather, Ches, and Cari were SO fun and personable, all of the smiles and laughs in our photos were completely genuine because they were so hilarious! Stress free elopement
These ladies are amazing! I just told them which package I wanted. I asked for a cake, gave them an idea, and had a cake made that was perfect. When I first started looking for photographers in Mexico, I had came across Quetzal’s work. I loved their style and at first it was more then I thought I wanted to spend money wise. Obviously, I was within a budget but photography was very important to me. I also knew that I needed fun and laid back photographers as my husband would definitely need this. He is not a photo lover like most men. I had a phone conversation with Heather and I immediately knew I was going to sign my contract. We were like instant BFF’s and Queztal’s vision and passion is just what I was looking for. They helped with so many other things as well and never hesitated from helping with my timeline to helping with other vendors, coordinating with coordinators at the resort , keeping me up to date on all the Covid-19 measures and so much more. They are not there to take your money and see you on your wedding day. More importantly they build a relationship with you and get to know you personally. Which I feel like Is a very important feature !!
Heather and Ches are just the sweetest ladies and I couldn’t imagine my day without them. The attention to detail is incredible. I will also mention how important it is to have to photographers as every moment was caught between my husband and I during the ceremony. They each have a job to focus on one individual. I got sneak peeks immediately and shockingly I got all my photos (800) of them in two weeks. 😍. They go with thr flow and when it started to rain they got some awesome rain shots.
They are passionate about what they do and their work proves that. I booked their stay at my resort as my vendor fee was quite high. The night of my rehearsal, they surprised me and was there ! They even took photos that they didn’t have to do.

We were married on 10/18/20 at the Finest Playa Mujeres and we booked Queztal to capture our special day. Best decision!!! I just cannot say enough about this team of photographers (and videographer). Heather, Ches, Kari, Mireia were nothing short of AMAZING. From the moment we met them, they felt like friends!! So friendly and so personable! I personally dislike getting my pictures taken but they have this way of making you feel just so at ease, so comfortable. It's always scary finding a destination wedding vendor that isn't a referral or word of mouth, but they made the process super easy They did an initial call and walked us through the entire process and made us feel so comfortable that we booked them on the spot. We were able to travel down to Cancun to visit our wedding venue in which we wanted to do our engagement shoot. They not only traveled to the venue but also scouted out the hidden gem spots before meeting up with us. Unforgettable and Forever Touched!
Words absolutely can't describe how we feel.... how blown away we are with how Quetzal Wedding Photo captured our day. They were also VERY reachable for months ahead during planning and just made the process so easy all of the way up to our big celebration. Their advice was beyond helpful. My husband and I never take photos so that was so appreciated. We also don’t love super staged photos and really wanted more candid shots showing the mood of the day. Oh how professional and on point they are!
Chez, Heather and the entire team went outside of their normal artistry to capture our day in the ways we really wanted. They even gave us edit options for the coloring on the photos. We wanted moody and sexy and are overall pretty picky. They were referred to us by our dear friend Alex, manager of Ikal Boutique Hotel in Tulum, where we had our wedding weekend. He could not have given us a more incredible connection. It’s also a testament to true artistry, hard-work and dedication that Heather and Chez have innately.
We had a full 9-hr photo package for both a private boudoir/ pre-wedding session as well as our wedding and partial reception. We also had a video package. To anyone looking for any type of package, Quetzal will outperform and provide beyond your dreams. Invest in the video!!!
Make this a priority in your budget! Quetzal was somehow on the lesser expensive side of photographers/videographers that we researched but the quality of their work is exceptional.
We just received our video and it’s making us relive our celebration and also softening our hearts again through such crazy times the world is going through right now.

The Quetzal Wedding Photo team was absolutely amazing from start to finish and I would very highly recommend their photography services for your wedding or other special events in the Cancun/Playa del Carmen area! My husband and I had an incredible destination wedding at Secrets Maroma Beach Resort in November of 2019. We began the planning process about 18 months in advance and after deciding on our venue, finding the right photographer was very important to us. I came across Quetzal Photo on Instagram and after viewing their work on social media and also their online portfolio, I was extremely impressed. I contacted them via their website and received an e-mail response within 48 hours. The message provided confirmation of their availability for our wedding date, detailed information on the wedding packages & pricing offered, a link to a photo gallery highlighting their experience at our specific venue and lastly suggested that we set up a phone meeting to discuss our wedding day in more detail, answer any questions and get to know one another so that we could make the most informed decision when comparing our vendor options.
Quetzal’s style of work and broad experience captivated us right away and we felt a great connection in terms of personality after speaking with Heather on the phone. She was extremely knowledgeable, organized and overall just has a positive, fun vibe! The contract was straight forward and easy to understand. We did book roughly 1 year in advance of our wedding date, as November – March is prime wedding season in Cancun. I was impressed with the timely communication and follow-up even during the busy wedding season. Throughout the entire planning process, I felt that the Quetzal team tried to make our day as special and stress-free as possible and wanted to get to know to us and our story as a couple.
In addition to experience, style and personality, cost was also a factor in our decision for a photographer. After exploring several local photographers in addition to the Resort’s preferred vendors, we found their package pricing to be very fair and consistent with other photographers in the area. In addition, they are very willing to negotiate packages, understanding that each couple is unique in terms of what they imagine for their wedding day. We determined that Quetzal was without a doubt who we wanted to work with and could not have been happier with this decision!
As the wedding day got closer, we had more frequent communications around logistics and I appreciated the fact that the team sent me all the details I needed for the wedding day in advance which included an itinerary for the entire day, when they would arrive on site, what they needed to be able to access the resort for the day and tips to destress, keep it fun and natural if you aren’t comfortable in front of the camera!
On the wedding day, the Quetzal team arrived on site promptly and worked with all the curveballs we had thrown our way. We had so much fun while they took photos of the bride and groom getting ready with our friends and family members and made us feel so comfortable throughout all the photo shoots of the day. We were planning for a first look and the couples portraits to be done before the beach ceremony and as we were getting ready to head outside to do this -it began to downpour. The Quetzal team was not phased one bit by this and made the best of the time by capturing some additional photos in the room and keeping the bride in good spirits until the rain stopped. Once the rain stopped, Quetzal was on top of their game! They got our first look and couple’s portraits done working with a very short window of time before the ceremony. Following the ceremony, they were also very conscientious of the time we had before sunset to finish our photos on the beach. All the pictures turned out beautifully!!
Final notes/Considerations:
• Quetzal provides an online album with all your photos which are organized into categories such as getting ready, ceremony, reception, etc. You can easily share with friends and family members with a guest access code. This was great for my family that was unable to travel to the wedding. You can also download the entire album to your personal files.
• The turnaround time was faster than expected, we were sent a “sneek peek” album within 2 weeks of the wedding and then we had the full photo album available within a month.
• In addition they are constantly tagging us on social media with fun memories from the wedding which I love!
• When we worked with them, they did not have video services only photography.
• Being local to the area, they work with tons of wedding vendors and can offer suggestions for other services like food/flowers/hair if you need.
• Next to the venue, our photographer was one of the most important factors when planning our wedding and we spent a lot of time exploring different vendors and based our decision on: Experience, style of photography, work ethic, personality, reviews from other couples and cost.
Quetzal went above and beyond our expectations for our wedding photography and we had so much fun working with them!
