We had our wedding here on 9.22.18 and it was the best night of our lives. The Queens Museum is absolutely stunning! Both of our families are local to Queens/NYC so being able to get married here had a special meaning to us. As a same sex couple, we definitely wanted to bend traditions a little bit and pick a non-traditional wedding venue. The Queens Museum fit the bill perfectly with its soaring ceilings, beautiful artwork and, of course, the NYC Panorama. As many other reviewers have pointed out, our guests were in complete shock and awe the entire time, and so were we! DelishNY provided the catering and Emily Herbig, the catering manager and coordinator, was in what felt like nearly constant contact for over a year. 2 months before the wedding, we were thrown a curve ball by the announcement of a gigantic concert happening a stones throw away from our wedding. This caused us to completely freak out. Emily was cool, calm and collected and went above and beyond for us. She worked with the NYPD, the museum, the parks department and concert organizers to make sure our guests had zero trouble arriving and the two events co-existed beautifully. The food was also delicious and high end. There were so many options, narrowing down and choosing the final menu was a monumental task. Also, DelishNY also owns a staffing company who staffed our wedding with the most wonderful, hardworking people. The Queens Museum gave us the cosmopolitan, black tie modern wedding we've been dreaming of having. One important note on the venue if you're already considering having your event here. Lighting design is absolutely critical and will set the mood and tone for the entire affair. I've worked in production in the past so I know what professional lighting can cost and it might cause some sticker shot to you. Trust me, it's well worth the price. Use the designer that Emily recommends who has lit the space many times.

From our first contact with Emily from Delish NY, we could tell she was dedicated to working with us to ensure our ideas became reality, answering hundreds of questions throughout the process, always with super quick replies. The space is incredibly customizable, and with Emily’s help, will turn out exactly how you imagined it. On the catering side, we originally considered using an outside caterer, but that plan fell through about three months before the wedding. Luckily, Delish was available and was able to seamlessly provide our catering despite the tight timeline. We opted to serve dinner family-style, which proved to be a great way for everyone to have seconds (and thirds)! We hope to enjoy DelishNY’s amazing food again, and look forward to continuing to support our wedding venue in the future!

Two weekends ago, my wife and I were married at the Queens Museum. Upon seeing the Museum together for the first time, we fell in love with it. The modernity of the space, high ceilings, airy light, the Unisphere, the Park, the art and exhibits and warm staff allowed us to look no further for a wedding venue. Emily Herbig met with us and assured us of a great experience and on the day of our wedding, she and her staff came through. Indeed it was! Our guests raved about the Museum, the food provided by the Museum's in-house caterer, Delish NY and together with all of the vendors that we hired working together seamlessly, it was a dream wedding come true!

I had a personal memory with the Queens Museum as a child, but the renovation of this museum makes it an incredible space. Emily was the absolute best in managing our requests and even supplying additional vendors to work with. It was a night to remember with all her help and support!

Our daughter's wedding reception Aug. 1 exceeded all of our expectations. Emily Herbig, Catering Manager, saw to it that the cocktail food and dinner meals were delicious and that the staff was outstanding. The servers and bartenders are incredibly cheerful, courteous and professional. They made everyone feel so welcome and well cared for. The venue itself is spectacular following its 2013 renovation. Now that the fountains are working at the Unisphere, the scene from the glass stairway and balcony is even more enchanting. Our guests also fell in love with the museum's crown jewel--The Panorama scale model of all five boroughs of the City of New York--which was available for viewing throughout the event. The older guests appreciated being in such an historic building, which some had visited as children for the 1965 World's Fair.

If you are looking for a unique and affordable wedding venue in NY, you should look at the Queens Museum of Art. Just be prepared to work with the few caterers who have worked there before and note that your caterer will need to arrange all rentals including kitchen equipment as they have no kitchen.

Choosing the Queens Museum for our wedding venue was the hands-down the best decision. We knew it was going to be a big wedding but wanted to avoid the typical venues (catering halls, country clubs) and simultaneously find a place that we thought was reflective of our values. We saw several places but choosing the Queens Museum was a no-brainer. The space is fantastic and you get to separate out the cocktail hour and reception into two very unique spaces (upstairs overlooking the Unisphere and then downstairs under the glass chandelier for dinner and dancing). Emily Herbig, who is the point person for events at the QM and helps you coordinate the menu and rentals, was really responsive to all of our questions and concerns and worked hard to make sure our vision for food and table layout was executed according to our vision. DelishNY is the exclusive caterer for the QM (note that you can use an outside caterer for a fee, but unless you need Kosher or Halal, don't do it, they are amazing). DelishNY really delivered on the day of--so many people were coming up to me during and then after the wedding to tell me how delicious the food. I would also add that if you are particular about how you want food presented and to taste, they really listen. During our tastings we gave a lot of feedback (toning down a spice in the crabcake, putting the sauce on the side of the filet instead of on top) and they really did exactly what we wanted. Everything was really well executed. Another feature of the museum is the fabulous Panorama exhibit that was built by Robert Moses for the 1964 Worlds Fair. If you choose (and you should), you can have guests transition from the cocktail hour to the reception downstairs by going through the Panorama. The only downside is that your guests really want to take time to see the exhibit so it was a little difficult getting everyone out to get the party started! I feel really fortunate that we found such an amazing venue. Just do it.

Queens Museum was the first venue that we looked at, and we were immediately impressed by the design and scope of the space, the iconic Unisphere, the history of the Worlds Fairs, the fascinating Panorama, and the possibilities of the bridge, sunken floor sections, and the high ceilings with skylight. The point person gave us a good overview during the initial hour-long walk-through. The rental fee was reasonable, considering the amount of space, so we committed to it pretty quickly. As “foodies,” we wanted the catering to be authentic culturally and made from high quality/organic ingredients. The point person for QM works for the catering company, and she tried to find a good chef for us and menu options, but we ultimately chose our own catering company to work with` In terms of logistics, we would have liked more detailed email responses, precise estimates with rental breakdowns, scheduling/planning templates, and accurate bills, but everything came together for the wedding. The wedding day went very smoothly, and our guests keep telling us that they had an incredible and memorable time (and will go back to visit the Queens Museum on their own).

The Queens Museum is a beautiful, special, flexible space for events. As a relatively new space for events since its major renovation a year or so ago, it definitely has a "wow" factor. It's also a bit off the beaten track, even for many New Yorkers. Personally, I liked knowing that we were also helping support a great NYC cultural institution that does a lot in the community.

For our wedding party, we started with a cocktail hour at the upper level overlooking the Unisphere, then everyone transitioned through the incredible Panorama of the City room (a big highlight!), and then had dinner and dancing was in the main hall. The staff at DelishNY, the caterer there, was very easy to work with. We opted for a "taste of queens" theme, with various stations, and everyone loved the food. The caterers set up a tasting for us in advance to sample the menu, which was helpful. On the day of the event, everything ran very smoothly and staff was professional yet engaging.

Private events are relatively new to the QM, so it did seem like there were a few "learning" moments. Nothing bad at all, but not necessarily a well-oiled machine yet. It could have been nice to get a bit more advice on what lighting, layout, etc would work best. I think as they gain more experience in the space, this will come.
