Beautiful, classic venue with fantastic events company
We knew this was our venue the minute we saw pictures. The venue is so incredibly classic without looking too high-brow. We were having such a hard time finding a majestic venue without it being a manor in the middle of nowhere. The venue is right in the middle of Providence, which made it so easy for our guests to travel and find accommodations! part of the library was under construction when we were getting married (the other side of the building), but it really didn't affect us at all. The space itself is great -- there is a top level for your ceremony, and lower area for dancing, and a separate room for eating dinner. I was nervous about it but it worked REALLy well. It kept people on the dance floor! To top it off, the caterer/event management - Russell Morins were AMAZING.
About Russell Morin:
Below is an excerpt from the email I wrote to Ardriana, our event manager at Providence Public Library and our day-of-coordinator. I wrote this only 2 days after our wedding, which fully describes how appreciative we were for the entire Russell Morin team. The venue (Providence Public Library) was absolutely gorgeous. Most importantly, Ardriana was available to answer questions whenever I had them (and I had plenty!!). They made the process so incredibly easy, and the day of felt like such a breeze because they are absolute professionals and experts at making weddings amazing. Ardriana and all of Russell Morin so thoughtful in helping us with some small pieces of our wedding -- for example, I asked if they had a specific thing that I hadn't seen on the menu but I knew my parents and family would like...and they came back and said they could do it?!! Or helping us with our vegan guests, figuring out dress changes (I changed into a traditional Chinese qipao in the the reception), and...everything. We cannot recommend them enough. Also so many people were obsessed with their food -- SEVERAL people texted me how good the chicken was. Nobody compliments chicken unless it's actually amazing. Which it was.
"We've already expressed this, but again, thank you (and the staff) so so much for making this our picture perfect wedding. You made the entire process so easy and enjoyable for us and you made our wedding day so seamless, special, and wonderful. Absolutely everything was perfect -- the cake! The lighting! Getting us when we were scheduled to do something! And people RAVED about the food -- I've never heard anybody talk about chicken so earnestly. We knew the venue was beautiful but didn't know how even more beautiful it'd be for our own wedding. I really don't know how I could have planned a wedding without Morins and I will sing high praises of your team and the venue for my whole life." -

Beyond Our Expectations
My husband and I wanted a venue that didn't scream "typical wedding venue." As soon as we saw the library, we saw the potential. I will admit - the venue is almost TOO different that I was stressed out about all of the non-traditional logistics (countless stairs, dinner in a separate room, dancing in the sunken courtyard) - right up until I actually walked into the venue on my wedding day. I cannot believe how incredible the space looks once it's all done up - my jaw dropped when I walked inside. The library truly looks 100x better on your wedding day (the lighting package is a MUST) - and all of those "non traditional" factors I was worried about actually made for the most incredible photos. We received countless compliments on the venue, so many of our guests asked how we found it. Beyond the venue, RM was fantastic to work with. The schedule flowed seamlessly, and they have this venue figured out perfectly. The food was delicious, and everyone went above and beyond to make us happy...our newlywed attendant was a star. Lastly, this venue gives your endless photo opportunities around Providence - I can't recommend taking photos at the State House enough. Our wedding felt romantic and classic - just as we envisioned.-

A wonderful wedding at PPL!
As soon as we visited the library, we were sold. The space is beautiful, unique. The design and architecture of the building are all the decorations you need (well, almost). I also appreciated the variety of spaces (e.g., bridal suite upstairs, ship room for dinner, courtyard for dancing) to give guests room to move about, privacy for the bridal party, and a variation for photos. We received so many compliments on the venue. I also appreciate that it’s downtown - there are so many restaurants and hotels nearby to support your guests. There’s also the mall and other stores for whatever last minute items you forgot!
But a wedding at the library is nothing without Russell Morin’s! From the moment we started planning the wedding, the staff at Russell Morin’s were excellent, answering all of our questions and helping us personalize and plan the big day. Our tasting experience was incredible - hardest decision was narrowing down our selections. The food on the day was excellent, served quickly with a very professional and polished staff. All the additional items - wedding cake, chocolate fountain, apps, and late night snacks - were just as excellent as the meal itself. We had a newlywed attendant who made sure we were fed and were where we were supposed to be all night - so grateful for her! And finally, our day of coordinator, Kelsey, was the best, taking care of every detail, from the rehearsal to setting up the day of to making sure we had everything we needed when we left for the night, including sandwiches and leftover wedding cake. We loved the library setting but the Russell Morin’s team made the event so special.

Perfect location for Providence wedding
This venue is exceptionally beautiful and very well managed. You hardly need any additional decorations, the dinner room is elegant and gorgeous, and the dance floor in the courtyard is a lot of fun. The staff who work there are professional and responsive. The downtown location is incredibly convenient. We would highly recommend it. -

Beautiful fairytale venue
If you're considering booking the PPL for your wedding, just do it! We got so many compliments on how beautiful and unique our venue is. Everything flowed perfectly from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception. Most importantly, what we didn't realize when booking is that by booking the library we received our fairy godmother in Paige. Paige is absolutely amazing and took so much of the stress of planning our wedding off of us! She gave amazing recommendations, made sure all the food was exactly how we wanted it, worked with us as we made changes and helped us use some of the library's decor for free. At the end of the night, she made sure everything was packed in our car and ready to go. She wrangled our large family at the rehearsal (no easy task) and made sure my husband and I were attended to our entire wedding night. Paige alone makes booking the library completely worth it, the beautiful venue and amazing food are just icing on the (delicious) cake! Thank you, Paige, for all your help! -

Beauty, elegance, and class
When we told people we were getting married at a library... we got a lot of puzzled looks. Then we showed them photos and people's eyes would light up, and that's exactly what it's like walking in to PPL. You enter through the beautiful stone facade and you're standing in a foyer at the base of a grand marble staircase; one that your wedding party will walk down and take photos on. Then, you're standing in the ceremony space and the more you look around, the more you notice the gilded details, the columns, the chandelier... and all the possibilities that the space provides. We had our ceremony with 140 guests seated and we didn't even need any extra decor (ok, well we got one of those big light up trees but that's it!) The space is so naturally elegant that it doesn't really need anything extra. Then everyone moved down to the courtyard for cocktail hour, and it's a gentle change of scenery that's still inclusive of everything and everyone. Our older guests loved being able to sit on the upper level and look down upon the dance floor and still feel like part of the action. Then we moved into the dining room for a seated plated dinner and it felt small enough that it was intimate but large enough that it didn't feel crowded. While we were in the dining room, the ceremony space and courtyard were being transformed with rental furniture and lighting so that it felt totally different when guests emerged from dinner. We kept the lighting neutral on the main floor but the courtyard was like a dance floor with dark lights and loud music. Lastly, there's a room upstairs where family and friends can take a moment alone to collect their thoughts and I found it to be really peaceful and calming. Overall, the PPL is a venue that keeps on giving and giving: it's SO versatile that it's like six spaces in one. You can dress it up or dress it down, class it up or keep it quirky. We also found the rental fees to be insanely affordable, and there was a security guard and coat check person there all night for our event. We loved the location and found it super convenient and within walking distance of everyone's hotels, parking garages, etc. (although we did get the valet parking option for our wedding because it was also more affordable than we thought.) Lastly, PPL works with Russell Morin Catering and Events which made the whole process really seamless. Russell Morin was also very accommodating, but that's a review for another day :) Overall, our guests had rave reviews about the PPL and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue!! -

A hidden gem of wedding venues!
Getting married at PPL (Providence Public Library) could not have been better. the set-up is ideal, the dance floor is UNBEATABLE! Having everything on-site makes it so easy, and Russell Morins (the catering company exclusive with PPL) made our day so seamless and perfect. We had just over 100 guests and it was the absolute perfect size. Not only is the layout of the venue perfect, but the historic details are jaw-dropping - so many amazing photo opps! It is in close proximity to many great hotels downtown. Their bridal suite upstairs is also amazing and a great place to get ready/dressed before the big day! We wouldn't have changed a thing, this venue and the staff and catering company was beyond perfect.-

I cannot say enough good things about the library and Russell Morin catering. From the time we booked the library in May 2016, Lisa was there for everything we needed even if we did have a year and a half before the wedding! When Kacey came on board we began communicating more with her. She was extremely responsive to emails, answered even what I thought were silly questions, and gave reccomendations from her experience. October 2017 came quick and at our final meeting I knew we were in good hands with Kacey. She is AMAZING! The day of the wedding was better then my husband and I could have ever imagined. Everything ran smoothly and our guests are still raving about the decor and the amazing food. Kacey did an amazing job keeping the flow going and making sure everything was on point. All of our vendors were amazing as well. They all worked together to make sure the night ran smoothly. If you are contemplating the library for your wedding, DO IT. it was the best decision my husband and I ever made. Thank you Providence Public Library for the most amazing wedding day and memories to last a lifetime. -

The library was pure magic! They provided us a completely unique and special experience that our guests are still raving about! Planning with Lisa and Kacey was an absolute breeze and I couldn’t have had a more invested and special team-they make the couple and their families feel completely at ease. There was nothing cookie cutter about their work-they remember the smallest details, answered what I sometimes thought were the craziest questions in an email, and shared the same level of excitement about our wedding as I had! You can’t duplicate a team like theirs.
Morin’s Catering was beyond! Since none of our family was from Rhode Island it was important to us to capture everything Providence in that weekend and our custom menu from Morin’s Catering was just that! The lobster rolls and fried dough were huge hits!
Lastly, there was something magical about the venue itself. We had both our ceremony and reception there but changing the furniture, Ormonde lightning colors, and the gallery feel made every portion of the night unique!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND the library for a once in a lifetime experience! -

Perfection! PPL was the perfect reception location for our 'mini-destination' wedding. All of our guests were from out of town, and everyone commented on how beautiful the venue was and how much they loved the separation of cocktail hour/dining room/ dance floor (which is one of the reasons we chose it, other than its beauty). The dance floor is perfect for introductions and dancing all night without the awkward feeling that people are just sitting at their tables watching you act a fool.
Lisa Nightingale is a saint. Without her I don't know how I could have pulled any of it off. I liked her so much that I hired her as our day-of coordinator (through Russell Morins). She was always so happy and made everyone that was part of our wedding very much at ease. I honestly felt like I was talking with a longtime friend, and to me that's comforting in itself.
The food was AMAZING. From the steaks, to the wild mushroom ravioli and desserts, each of my guests that I talked to raved about all the dishes (shrimp neptune being the real showstopper). The staff was all so great and seemed genuinely happy to be there helping us. Even some girls working in the kitchen that had to walk through the dance floor actually danced through the dance floor with all of us, haha, everyone loved that. Our personal butler was the cherry on top, seriously, I always had a drink in my hand, didn't have to ask twice for anything, and most of the time I didn't even have to ask for anything at all, it's like she read my mind.
This venue is perfect in every way and worth every penny. Everything went by smoothly and the day was perfect. 10 stars. -

The perfect venue for our Harry Potter wedding. It was a beautiful setting, and the team made it the most perfect day for our wedding! My husband and I had an incredible experience planning our wedding at the Providence Public Library! Lisa and the Morin's team make sure that no stone is left unturned. Lisa is so easy to work with and incredibly attentive to any need along the way. I felt as though our wedding vision was made the utmost priority and the big day showed that as well. The library is unique and such a beautiful venue, and we haven't stopped getting positive comments on our food and overall flow of our event. We truly felt that our money went such a long way with this venue and with Morin's, who is the exclusive caterer for the venue. My husband and I wish we could live the day over again, we had the best day ever! -

My daughter's wedding at the Providence Public Library was a magical event! From the beautiful ceremony to the fabulous hours d'oeuvres (lobster tater tots, bacon wrapped figs, and Gorgonzola baskets!!!) to the incredible dinner (one of our guests was a chef at a Boston restaurant and he asked for more Shrimp Neptune- that is how good it is!!) to the wonderful passed desserts (lemon cupcakes, root beer schnapps floats), everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully executed. Robin Hollow farms created beautiful flowers and Ormonde Productions did an amazing job. At the end of the night, everything was done and we were able to head out to enjoy the after party. We received multiple comments that it was the most beautiful wedding our guests had attended. We also heard wonderful feedback on the food. Typically, wedding food is mediocre. That was most certainly NOT the case. Morin's did an incredible job. I cannot say enough about how perfect the wedding was. It surpassed my expectations on every level. Thank you for a wonderful evening!!! -

I had my wedding reception at the Providence Public Library and it was absolutely perfect. Not only is the location beautiful, but they were professional and easy to work with from my first inquiry. They also worked really well directly with my other vendors which made everything seamless. It was definitely more money than I had hoped to spend, but for what I got it was well worth it. And the food was incredible! My only advise is make sure you don’t forget the snack they pack for you to take back to the hotel after the event, we gave ours to my parents and we were really regretting that at 2am when we were starving! -

The Providence Public Library was the perfect place for our reception. My husband and I envisioned getting married in one of the beautiful, outdoor spots in Newport. When our wedding date got moved to March (and the snow kept falling), it became clear we would need an indoor space. We struggled and struggled to find anything near the shore that had enough space indoors or the right feeling (not to mention price). One day I remembered the library. We both visited separately and instantly knew, this was the place and the package with Russell Morin catering made it the smartest decision you could make.
-It is evident from the photos that the Library is stunningly gorgeous and there is no need for copious decorations. It gave us the most beautiful backdrop for pictures. With our budget we were unable to afford extra lighting by Ormonde Productions (the library has an exclusive contract with them) but the lights they had were more than sufficient and we felt that nothing was lacking.
-The layout is the GREATEST asset of the Library. Everything flows together and yet there was distinct and ample space for cocktail hour in the grand hall, dinner service in the ship room, and dancing in the courtyard. My favorite thing was that folks were able to stand in the grand hall and watch the dance floor below. As we had many older relatives, they were able to stand or sit above and watch the dancing and all commented on how pleasant and fun that was.
-Russell Morin Catering did a phenomenal job as the food was delicious and came off without a hitch. Did I mention the couple gets a personal butler? Lizzie, Ali, and her team have excellent communication skills and made planning a cinch. I hope others experience the joy of a beautiful reception here. -

We had our wedding and reception her on Aug 1, 2015. Our entire experience here was excellent. Working with Russell Morin Catering, who handled everything, was pain free, well orchestrated and managed as beautifully as you could hope for. From our first visit, to the tasting, (OUTSTANDING!!) to the set up and the day of the ceremony, they handled everything to a top tier level. The venue was beautiful. Many of our guests were a little sceptical until they walked in and then they were awed by the beauty and majesty of the place. We heard nothing but wonderful comments on how suprised they were on how nice the Library was and how excellent the food was. If you have any doubts, go and look. It's a unique place to have the wedding and the 2 floor reception/dance area makes for a wonderful experience. -

The Providence Public Library is an absolutely amazing place to host your wedding. My husband and I LOOKED everywhere for our Wedding venue (Barns, seaside inns, golf clubs, manors, everything!) The library was the first place we visited and we immediately were drawn by Lizzy and Ali. Their helpfulness, confidence, and calm demeanor is exactly what I needed. I'm not a Bride who has envisioned her Wedding since the age of 6...so when I got engaged I needed a lot of guidance. Both Lizzy and Ali were fabulous. Beyond that the space is just superb. We had our Ceremony and Reception both in the space and it was perfect and unique. WE had use of multiple spaces and it really created a fabulous party. The food, ambiance, and service were top notch. The only downside is that due to the harsh lighting in the Library it is almost a requirement to hire Ormond Productions for Lighting (the Library has a relationship with them and you can only use them). They are amazing, but add on a minimum of $2,000 to your total bill to manage that. It's worth it, but beware and build it into your budget. In all, I'm so grateful we had our wedding at such a wonderful venue. -

I can't imagine a more perfect location for our wedding, or a more helpful group of people than the Morin's Catering staff who saw us through every aspect of our wedding. I have attended over 25 weddings as a guest, and our venue and coordination was truly spectacular. We wanted something a little more distinctive than a hall or a country club, with a space that would comfortably and easily fit our guest count. So many of the venues on our short list were nice, quaint estates, but were far away from hotels and guests had to be divided between different rooms. The location of the library right in downtown makes it easy to coordinate so many different aspects of a wedding. The Morin's staff (Lizzy, Ali, and our personal butler (!)), were phenomenal. They took care of everything and really made it the best day of our lives. Additionally, the guests all raved about the food - every bite was delicious. I couldn't ask for anything more! -

The Providence Public Library was a perfect venue, and we were happy with our wedding there in every way. One thing that really stood out was the Russell Morin staff. They were incredibly professional from start to finish, and they helped us to keep everything organized both leading up to the wedding, and on the day itself. The food was absolutely incredible and delicious--we especially recommend the sea bass, which was the best fis -

I couldn't be happier with my venue. The Library is so beautiful and everyone really liked that there were different locations through out the event. The cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing had different locations and people were able to walk around, or sit and talk during the dancing section. All the staff were so helpful and experienced. I loved this venue and would recommend it to anyone. -

Morin's at the Providence Public Library is top notch! The venue is gorgeous and well maintained. The event planners for the library were professional and looked to accommodate any of my requests. The food tasting event was great and feedback on our food selections on how we wanted to tweak anything was well received. I also had Morin's make the wedding cake based on a photo I had and it was spot on! -

We had our wedding at the Library in August and everything exceeded our expectations. We flipped things around and had cocktail hour and then our ceremony in the Great Room, then dinner in the Ship Room, and the rest of the evening in the Great Room and Courtyard. The Morins staff, especially Alicia, were absolutely wonderful throughout the planning process - answering questions, providing suggestions, allowing me and my outside vendors extra visits to get a feel for the space. My guests are still raving about the beautiful setting, but even more so about the incredible food and wonderful service Morins provided. Our favorite part of the whole event was when we found out the couple gets their own private butler for the evening. I feel horrible that I can't remember her first name, but she was amazing even offering to walk back to the Hilton to help us carry stuff at the end of the night. We seriously considered kidnapping her! -

Everyone connected with the Providence Public Library and Russell Morin were gracious and attentive to every last detail, particularly our coordinator, Lizzy Desibia, who managed to keep us both sane and excited during the lead-up to the big day. Not only did the wedding go off without a hitch, but it was even more wonderful than we could have wished for -- everyone's hard work and professionalism made for an unforgettable night (the gorgeous building and tremendous food helped, too!). -

I had my wedding at the Providence Public Library in March and I can’t say enough good things about the space. It was the first venue my now husband and I toured when deciding where to hold our wedding reception and we were immediately impressed with the grandeur and beauty of the space. We visited several more traditional venues but nothing compared. Russell Morin is the exclusive cater at the library and they make the entire planning process easy. And, the food was delicious! I have worked in the event planning industry and had very high expectations. Lizzy and Alicia from Morin’s exceeded all of them. Everything was extremely organized from the first event proposal to the final checklist days before the wedding. They took care of every detail and were always quick to respond to any last minute ( and random!) questions we threw at them. My husband and I had a fairly limited budget and Alicia really worked with us to maximize it. Since the space is nontraditional, we had been a little worried about the flow between cocktail hour, dinner and then dancing. Alicia provided terrific recommendations and made sure that everything ran smoothly that evening. There isn’t a thing I would change about the evening.
Our guests are still raving about our wedding and how much they loved the library. I would highly recommend the space to anyone looking for an elegant and unique space for their wedding.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Providence Public Library back in November. What an amazing evening! Not only is the library such a gorgeous and unique venue but the team at Russell Morin and the library that you work with to plan, cater, and run your wedding is tremendous! We worked with Lizzy at the PPL and she was a pleasure to work with and did a wonderful job communicating with us every step of the way. You won't be disappointed if you book the Providence Public Library and we would recommend it for any wedding, corporate event, or any other special occasion in your life! -

We visited the Providence Public Library for the first time before the renovation was even done - but even with scaffolding and unfinished floors we knew that no other wedding venue would top it. The more we found out about the Library the more certain we became that we would be having our reception here.
Budget? Doable! Food? Russell Morin! Spatial options? Several! Onsite Coordinator? AWESOME!
From the moment we secured our date until the night was over, The Providence Public Library and it's staff amazed. Lizzy, the onsite coordinator, was phenomenal. She was upbeat and friendly, calming and extremely accommodating. She and her coworker Alicia made sure our reception was beautiful and went off without a hitch. The beauty of the library outshines any other venue in Providence - and provides a convenient and no-brainer choice for photographs. -

The Providence Public Library is a beautiful and unique venue. We fell in love with it the first time we saw it. The newly renovated space is elegant and so different from any other venue in RI. It was the perfect spot for our September wedding reception. Russell Morin Fine Catering did an amazing job managing and catering our event. The food was so delicious and got rave reviews from our guests. The staff was also great. They were professional and organized and help to make our reception everything we had hoped for. We are happy that we chose the library and Russell Morin and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue. -

The Providence Public Library is an AMAZING place for your wedding (or any event really)!!! I'm not sure how to give them the RAVING review that they deserve, but i'll try.
To start, the space is BEAUTIFUL to begin with! The design, architecture, layout, etc are all one of a kind and goes VERY far from a "wow factor" standpoint and that's before anyone decorates a single thing! Lizzy, the event manager here, suggested some of the great partners they work with who were really the perfect fit. They had all worked in the space before and knew just what would to do to bring the library to life. Russell Morin are the exclusive caterers here and the quality that they were able to consistently deliver was unreal! The entrees, apps, cake, etc. were all awesome, easily the best food I've had at any wedding I've been to (sure I'm biased). It is a much higher quality starting and finished product that sets them apart.
They can work with any budget and get you what you want (within reason of course) without sacrificing.
Our wedding guests are still raving about the reception whenever we see them. They are almost strangely adamant about how much they enjoyed everything about the place. The Library is an absolute must see for your venue shopping list! -

It was so great to work with Lisa during our 12-plus months of wedding planning! She just GETS it - from the gazillion (repetitive) questions to relieving my nervousness, she just knew how to handle all of it! The Russell Morin food was delicious and the library is gorgeous! It was just enough of a "blank slate" for us to make the celebration unique to us, yet satisfied the elegance we were looking for. I highly recommend Lisa, Russell Morin and the Providence Public Library! -

When we stepped inside the Providence Public Library we knew right away that it was the perfect venue for us. The library is absolutely beautiful and unique. The library looked magical for our winter wedding. We brought in a 12 ft Christmas Tree and garland and it truly transformed the library into a winter wonderland. Not only is the venue stunning, but the team at Russel Morins is exceptional. We had the pleasure of working with Lisa and Lizzy. They were both so helpful throughout the wedding process. They answered any questions we had along the way, let us view the space on several occasions, and helped tremendously on the day of the wedding. If you are looking for a memorable, elegant space with a highly professional staff be sure to check out the Providence Public Library.

The guidance and patience from Lizzy with answering our questions, particularly in light of my "bride brain," was done with the utmost professionalism and insight. It was such a wonderful night that went by all too quickly. We have heard such great things from our guests about how they loved the food and the Library, and had an overall fantastic night! We cannot imagine our wedding being any more perfect than it was that night! We also had nice interaction with the staff from the Library for their services not only that night, but with the various questions and requests I had during the planning. -

A Fairytale Wedding
We are so thankful to have chosen PPL to host our dream wedding! Our November 2022 wedding was truly a dream come true. Our wedding consultant, Maggie, was there for us every step of the way, always responsive to emails, and graciously patient in addressing our many (many!) questions along the way. Krista was our day-of coordinator and similarly did a great job ensuring that the whole day ran smoothly. I truly cannot think of any moments that went wrong, or where timing was off, which is a testament to her excellent management on the day-of. Aside from these two lovely ladies, the entire team was professional, courteous, and elevated our event so that it felt out of a fairy tale. The venue itself is just so beautiful, and required minimal decorating aside from our florals-- something we didn't even think about at first, but later ended up being a huge time-saver!
If you are considering the Providence Public Library, stop thinking, and contact them today. Our wedding day felt straight out of a fairytale, and I cannot recommend this venue enough. A wedding at PPL is sure to be beautiful, true to you as a couple, and executed to the highest degree of excellence and quality care. A huge thank-you to the entire PPL & Russell Morin team-- we will cherish the memories you helped create for us on the best day of our lives!-

I cannot say enough about the amazing experience we had with our wedding at the library, more specifically with Lisa our wedding planner from Morins! Lisa was PHENOMENAL!! Unfortunately, on the day of my wedding I caught a horrible stomach flu that almost kept us from having the wedding and Lisa was just beyond amazing. Without her, and of course, my spectacular bridal party, I'm not sure we would have been able to have the wedding! Even that day aside, she was amazing. She was helpful and patient and so easy to work with! She truly cared about my husband and I and made a stressful time so much easier. I literally didn't eat or drink anything at the wedding, but I'm told the food was great and of course, the venue was just spectacular. If I have one teeny, tiny gripe it's only that there are some minor things you have to work around because it is, of course a functioning library. We did not have a huge budget but both my husband and I felt that it was well worth every penny!! The Morins team worked with our budget to make it work and the setting is so grand that a little goes a long way! If you're even considering the library, I would say absolutely go for it! We are so glad we did! -

Our wedding turned out absolutely beautiful, and the library was a big part of that. Recently renovated, we felt excited that not too many weddings had taken place in this space, and loved talking about it with other vendors and friends/family. The library has an exclusive partnership with Russell Morin's Catering, which while a pit on the higher end price wise was fine with us, as we didn't have to worry about the quality of the food or service. And we were right! Everything was delicious.
As for the library itself, while we loved working with vendors who hadn't been there before and were excited to try it out, we would DEFINITELY recommend a DJ/band who has played there before, as the acoustics can be a little tricky with all of the different side rooms and the two different floors. The lighting was beautiful, especially since we splurged a little on the lighting package, but it was worth it!
Make sure if you're having a larger summer wedding they start cooling the space out as early as possible, it can get a little warm when everyone's together on the lower level or in the ship room for dinner/whatever.

My husband and I are from the Mid-West but now reside in New England. When we began to look at wedding venues--logistics quickly rose to the top as a must have in our venue. Once my guests arrived I didn't want them to have to worry about a thing. I'm also not a big DYI'er so it was important to me to have a venue that "spoke for itself" as I didn't want the stress of decorating. A few Google searches led us to Providence Public Library (PPL) and a quick trip down on a Sunday confirmed it.
Everything about the PPL was a breeze and turnkey. Kacey was such a delight to work with - whenever we corresponded she was always responsive and upbeat. The food/cake/drinks were all delicious! It was hands down the best day of our lives, and I know so much of that was thanks to the amazing staff at PPL! -

beautiful and wedding dream venue! If you are looking for a unique wedding venue this is it. We loved our day and all of our guests kept commenting on how unique the venue was and how amazing the food was. Lisa was so easy to work with, especially since I was planning from overseas. We didn't get the lighting, instead set up lots of candles and battery lights and worked still beautifully. We also made our own centerpieces from old books and kept the whole library theme throughout the wedding. Had a piano player for our ceremony, which was just beautiful. I would just say to keep in mind on the pricing and furniture extras. Just a stunning place to be married. -

We had our wedding at the Providence Public Library in October 2015. The library is absolutely beautiful and is so unique – we received compliments from so many of our guests. They were happy to be somewhere besides a country club or ball room. The exclusive caterer, Russell Morin, was outstanding in both food and service. We are still receiving compliments over how fun and unique the hors d’ouevres were.
While I wouldn’t classify the library as “cheap”, I felt we got a tremendous amount of value for what we paid. The service provided by Morins is outstanding and really makes you feel like this is an incredibly luxurious venue. A few close relatives tried to guess what we paid based on their experience at our wedding and they guessed $10-20k more than what we paid.
The only negatives were relatively small and had to do with the library’s rigid policies about opening/closing times and lighting. Our rehearsal needed to be at 4:15pm because the library closes right at 5:30, which we felt was a bit too early for our bridal party who were all travelling and had little control over flight arrival times. This also meant our rehearsal dinner was at 5:30pm, which was way too early. It would be nice if they would be more flexible on that end.
Additionally, if you opt for uplighting, you are required to work with Ormonde Productions and no one else. Their packages are outrageously expensive – even our wedding planner commented that she had never seen lighting that pricey in her career. This was frustrating since it kind of felt like when you buy a cheap printer but the ink is outrageously expensive. In the end, I was glad we opted for a reduced uplighting package because it really does enhance the beauty of the space, but I still felt kind of “duped” into it.
Overall, we had a beautiful and unforgettable wedding, and I would highly recommend the library.

Dream venue worth the cost
We had a wonderful experience having our wedding at the Providence Public Library. All of the planning interactions are done through Russell Morin Catering, the library's exclusive caterer, and they have a great reputation when it comes to RI event caterers. The food is amazing, our wedding coordinator, Nicole (who was also our day-of coordinator), was attentive and kept track of all the details, and the venue looked beautiful. It was a bit outside of what we initially wanted to spend budget-wise, but ultimately it was worth the splurge for the venue and level of service. I (the bride) also have some dietary restrictions, and they were excellent about accommodating dietary needs without skimping on quality. One small downside for us is the caterer works with several other exclusive vendors (lighting, furniture rentals, living statues, pretty much anything you could ask for) to offer add-ons - which is great if you're looking for that, but as a couple who was already at the top of our budget, we felt like there was pressure in the initial planning meetings to spend beyond our contract. Once we made it clear we were at our budget limit, things seemed to run more smoothly. They also require you to purchase a basic lighting package through their lighting vendor which is quite pricy, and don't allow DJs to bring their own dance floor lighting, as is common in many venues. As their lighting vendor's premium package was beyond our budget, thankfully we were able to reach a compromise where our DJ could set up a few small lights near his setup that worked perfectly for the dance floor. Overall, we were happy with our decision to make the extra spend for the library and Russell Morin Catering - it was a dream venue for us, the staff was great to work with through the planning process and on the day of, and all our guests had wonderful things to say. -

Rough road to a unique day!
When we first visited the Providence Library when venue shopping, we were just amazed at how beautiful it was! It was honestly a decent amount more than what we wanted to spend on a venue but we were so in love with it that we decided to splurge. You only get married once, right?! We booked pretty early, roughly 1.5 years out from our wedding. We originally were working with Michael. While I understand our wedding was a long ways off and other weddings were prioritized to ours, he was absolutely HORRIBLE at responding. Some emails he never even responded to at all and one email took him TWO months to respond to. He also had downplayed the renovations the venue was going to be going through. The entire actual library space was completely out of commission by the time our big day came around. We weren’t able to take any pictures in the ‘stacks’ and their Special Collections room was no longer available for photos either. Those were two things that were a MUST for us so we were pretty upset about that and wish we knew ahead of time. When we went to our tasting, I was hoping to see Michael there to talk to him more in person only to find out he no longer worked there! I thought it was a little unprofessional that I never even received a courtesy email to let me know my main point of contact was no longer working there and who my new contact person should be. At that point I started working with Paige who was MUCH better at responding and assisting me with any questions that I had. She did give me some push back when I had asked to meet roughly a month ahead of time to go over the decorations for the venue. I had wanted to make sure everything was doable but given her push back, I decided to just let it go and hope for the best. When I had originally met with Michael, he had made it sound like we would have multiple meetings to go over details and make sure everything would be perfect for our big day. Our “final” and basically only meeting was two weeks prior to the wedding. That stressed me out a bit because if there was a problem with anything, we would be scrambling last minute. I definitely feel like the expectations weren’t really set correctly up front which I think would have helped me. As for the day of, Ardriana was our day of coordinator. She had a very positive attitude and upbeat personality which we loved. She did a great job of helping us stay on time and making sure our order of events ran smoothly. I wasn’t 100% happy with how our decorations were put up on the day of. I had given the venue an instruction sheet with photos included and we still saw some of the decorations were setup wrong. That was a little frustrating to me given I had tried to meet with them earlier on the decorations to make sure that didn’t happen. We also had our own personal ‘butler,’ Janet, who helped assist us and the wedding party during photos and throughout the night. She did a really good job at first and through dinner of being there and bringing us drinks when we needed her. Unfortunately, at some point during the reception she just completely disappeared. She was supposed to bring me another drink at some point and after 40 minutes had gone by, I gave up and just went to the bar myself. Having the personal butler had definitely been a bit of a selling point for us since we knew we would be too busy to eat/drink otherwise. Given the other positive reviews on Janet always being there and accessible to help, I was a little shocked that she disappeared on us. While I would definitely say we had MULTIPLE things we were not happy about, there were still plenty of good things about our big day. The food was absolutely AMAZING!!! We got so many compliments that our food was the best wedding food they had ever had. The wait staff was super friendly and the dinner service went really smooth. They even had a guy at the door greeting guests as they came in and handing out drinks. Everyone loved him and said he was super friendly! At the end of the night, Ardriana and the team already had our decorations boxed up and ready to go so that we could go join our after party and not spend the evening cleaning up. We really appreciated that given we were so exhausted from the busy day! The venue itself was absolutely beautiful. We loved the way it was setup so that dinner was in a separate room and people could overlook the dancing via the balcony. Having the bridal suite upstairs was great! We had somewhere to put our stuff during the event and it was such a pretty room for photos and getting ready in for the girls. Even with our frustrations at times throughout, we are still glad we chose the Providence Library for our day. Our day was still absolutely beautiful and everything that we ever wanted. I had wanted a unique wedding that stood out from all the rest and I really feel that we achieved that! Given the rest of the awesome reviews on the venue, I think I just had a unique not great experience that was timed wrong with a bad consultant leaving the company. I would still say it is 100% worth having your wedding at the library and using Russell Morins. If you want a unique big day, you will not be disappointed! -

Venue prefers ceremony + reception as oppose to just a ceremony location. If you're looking for a ceremony site, this isn't a ideal place. Ceremony cost $2500 for just two hours and needs to be over by 2:30 in the afternoon. They probably do this to avoid loosing out on money. -
