    Historical Venue

The whole venue is elegant, historical, and meaningful. Kyesse, our Event Planner, was wonderful and easy to work with.

    We loved getting married here!

The Lincoln's Cottage was the perfect venue for our May 11 wedding. My husband was looking for a wedding in the country and I was looking for a wedding in the city, and the Cottage provided the perfect compromise. It was easy for our out of town guests to take the shuttle wee provided from the Viceroy Hotel and for our loved ones in town to Uber or park on site, and it felt like the Cottage was our own magical corner of the city that we met in and lived in.

Everyone who works for the Cottage was lovely to work with, our guests were thrilled to explore the house during cocktail hour, and it was perfect to host the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all on the property. Despite the rain post-ceremony, the whole evening was magical (our gay wedding even had a rainbow!) and all of our vendors easily worked with the team at President Lincoln's Cottage. While our guests were bummed to end the party at 11 p.m., it was a quick and easy walk to the after party at Slash Run across the street and the celebrations continued.

Would get married at the Cottage again in a heartbeat!

    The perfect wedding venue

One of the things we were most looking forward to on our wedding day was having our reception at this amazing venue. The Cottage team were fantastic to work with and it’s clear how much they love the cottage and its history. Our wedding day had a bit of rain so we were so happy we’d rented the first floor of the cottage so we could pivot our cocktail hour to be indoors before dinner under the tent. Our family includes a few history buffs who really enjoyed the tours and museum. We loved the beautiful backdrop for our photos and I really appreciated being able to get ready upstairs. Kyesse made sure that my hair and makeup team had everything we need in terms of tables and chairs and I know the photos will be amazing thanks to the dreamy backdrop. Throughout the process we felt so supported by the staff who worked seamlessly with our wedding planner and vendors. I cannot recommend this beautiful historic space enough for your wedding.

Beautiful, quiet venue in the heart of DC!

President Lincoln's Cottage was such a perfect venue for our wedding. It's such a great location within the district, but was still a quiet, serene setting with amazing history. Jerry was so easy to work with! Any questions we had were answered quickly via email, which was so helpful while we were drowning in the wedding planning process! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to get married.

We loved having our wedding at Lincoln's Cottage

We loved everything about our wedding experience at Lincoln's Cottage. The venue is beautiful, and our guests were excited to learn about the cottage's history from the docents on hand to answer questions and show them around. Jerry, in particular, was so easy to work with and answered all of our questions in detail and with encouragement to ask more. Thank you!

Great location, beautiful space, and wonderful experience.

President Lincoln’s Cottage was a fantastic place to be married in DC. A wonderful combination of history, gorgeous greenspace, and spacious tent space, the cottage is conveniently nestled in the middle of DC’s Petworth neighborhood. Jerry, our primary point of contact, was fantastic. The team was incredibly helpful when rain threatened to complicate the ceremony, and they were fast to fix issues before they surfaced to us. As a fun bonus folks were given historical mini-tours of the cottage during the cocktail hour and folks have raved about how fun that was.

    Amazing piece of DC History

President Lincoln’s cottage was the perfect venue for our wedding - a mix of history and current day beauty. Jerry and the entire event staff were so easy to work with, and helped us turn our vision into reality. We heard from so many out-of-town guests how special and unique this venue was, and how much they appreciated its cultural significance. Many venues in DC have a long list of rules that can restrict your evening, not so with President Lincoln’s cottage!

    Beautiful Venue with Great Staff!

We had the greatest wedding experience with PLC and Jerry, the event manager! He was so helpful every step of the way and it helped that we used a month of coordinator that was familiar with Jerry and the venue. Our guests were in awe of the beauty and history of the property, especially that it was nestled in the middle of the city. Guests could drive and easily park for free or take Uber/Lyft which was so convenient and allowed us to not have to worry about transportation. The one thing to be aware of is that if you are having a tent, it can only be through one company that is great but very pricey. That was the biggest expense of our entire wedding, which we were not expecting. However, we made adjustments in other places and we couldn't be happier with how it worked out. I wholeheartedly recommend having your wedding at PLC!

    Beautiful Venue & Wonderful Staff!

Lincoln's Cottage is DC's best kept secret. As soon as you set foot on the property, you forget that you are in the middle of the city. It is beautiful, charming, and peaceful. We knew that it would be the perfect place for our wedding as soon as we visited. The staff at Lincoln's Cottage was wonderful to work with and made sure that our wedding day went smoothly. We couldn't have imagined getting married anywhere else.

    Fairytale Wedding at PLC!

My husband and I are quickly approaching our first wedding anniversary and our baby’s due date! It’s an exciting time to reflect on the past year. We were lucky enough to get married in Oct of 2019, months before the COVID 19 pandemic. We had 192 guests from all over the US. It was the highlight of my life. We worked with the cottage staff starting about 7 months before the wedding and took their recommendations for various vendors. During the planning process they made themselves available for many meetings, phone calls and endless emails from the bride-to-be. We chose PLC for a variety of reasons: most notably the location, being in the city was something we wanted, yet we also wanted to be outside and dance under the stars... with the expansive estate there was ample parking for guests, room for a picturesque ceremony on the lawn, space for lawn games, cocktails in the cottage, and a reception under the stars (highly recommend getting a clear tent). Everyone continues to reminisce over our Big Day and they always mention the unique and elegant venue.

Privilege to be married at such a special venue

As soon as my now-husband and I visited President Lincoln's Cottage, we knew we had found the venue for our wedding. The historic nature of this hidden gem is unmatched. That history, and the Cottage's programming today connecting it to modern struggles for freedom and equality--made it a perfect fit as a place to celebrate our interracial, same-sex, interfaith marriage. (And as a native Illinoisan, I was doubly excited to have Mr. Lincoln share in our big day!) The grounds are beautiful and our guests--even most of those who were local--enjoyed the chance to experience a lesser known site in DC and learn some history as well. Having docents walk guests through the Cottage's history during the cocktail hour is unquestionably worth it!

When we first reached out to the Cottage, we were working with Sahand, who, as all of the reviews to date have attested, was a true delight. We would be remiss, though, if we did not acknowledge the incredible job done by his successor, Shayla, who took over just a few months before our wedding day. The transition between the two was virtually seamless, and Shayla worked well with our coordinator and vendors to ensure a successful event. We were fortunate that, despite an uncertain forecast, our outdoor ceremony and al fresco dinner ended up happening as planned, but we don't doubt that the indoor rain plan would have been equally lovely. The folks at President Lincoln's Cottage are true professionals and were wonderful to work with. We are overjoyed and feel so incredibly fortunate to have had the honor of celebrating the biggest day of our lives in such a special setting.

    Magical, Cottage and Sahand!!!

I fell in love with President Lincoln's Cottage the minute it popped up into my google search. It had everything we were looking for and more that we didn't know we needed. From the time of our first visit to the cottage up until our wedding this past week, we were welcomed with open arms. This is one of the most magical, cute, charming and overall historic places I've gotten to encounter. I was a history major and my parents are both retired military; so the venue itself felt like fate.

Sahand (the venue coordinator here) is the best person in the world to work with. He is attentive and cares about your wedding and ensuring your vision and the cottage work together. His excitement about our Harry Potter themed wedding got us so amped up.

If you are considering this place as your wedding venue, you will not find better people to work with. Don't hesitate or think too hard, go with your initial instinct and you won't be steered in the wrong direction. Thank you Sahand and the President Lincoln's Cottage Family. You guys are absolutely the best.

It's all they say, and more!

As we walked away from our tour of PLC (the first venue we visited), we turned to each other and said: "This is it, right?" It seemed silly to only visit only one site, so we kept our other appointments that afternoon, but they only confirmed the impulse. We feel so lucky and grateful to have had such a great venue for our wedding and reception.

We had a beautiful late September day, and I will never forget how magical it felt. We were going for a fairly casual, garden party vibe, and the space was perfect for that. It really needs very little adornment. Further, I honestly looked forward to every time I spoke or emailed with Sahand. He's a gem-- enthusiastic, generous, HILARIOUS, and great at what he does. At the end of the night, I made sure to pull him on to the dance floor, because we really did feel like friends.

To be honest, before we started, I kind of dreaded wedding planning. But with the help of Sahand and PLC, I was totally confident that things would be wonderful. A bonus: even many of our DC guests had never visited here before. It was really special to get to introduce so many people to this beautiful, tranquil space right in our city. We recommend it to others without hesitation!

    History, Charm, and Sahand

I find this really difficult to write, not because this venue was terrible in any way, but because I feel that I can't convey how truly remarkable working with the Cottage was to myself and my husband.

Honestly, as soon as we met Sahand (the event coordinator for the Cottage), it didn't matter what the venue looked like. Sahand has an amazing, infectious energy. We felt that immediately and knew that we needed to work with him. (The Cottage was amazing, too.) Between Sahand and the Cottage itself, anyone could feel the warmth and positive energy all around.

What the other reviews state about this venue and its employees are all true. It was the perfect setting for our winter wedding. Sahand was with me every step of the way. If I could do it all again, I would do it the exact same way. It was incredible, moving, beautiful, charming, EVERYTHING because of the Cottage and because of Sahand's attention to detail. We are grateful.

    Unique venue with great service

President Lincoln's Cottage is an incredibly beautiful and unique venue for a wedding! We held our cocktail hour in the Cottage and on the surrounding lawns, where guests got to explore and learn some history, enjoy cocktails and appetizers, listen to live music, and play lawn games. We held our reception in a tent on the lawn, which had a relaxed, inviting feel. The venue is very photogenic, and the statue of Abe Lincoln made for a cute "photo booth" backdrop. Although it's a historical site the regulations are not overly restrictive at all, and we were still allowed to do a sparkler send-off. Sahand was awesome to work with leading up to the wedding and the day of; he is very friendly, responsive and eager to help. Our guests raved about the venue, and we would definitely recommend President Lincoln's Cottage!

We loved our wedding venue. We didn’t want to get married in a faceless generic hotel ballroom and looked for a site with character and charm.
President’s Lincoln Cottage was perfect. The ceremony took place at the lawn adjacent to the house, the cocktail hour in the veranda and the dinner was held inside. It was intimate and classy. The events coordinator was outstanding.

My fiance and I held our reception at President Lincoln's Cottage about 10 days ago, and can't begin to say enough wonderful things about the venue and about our POC, event coordinator Sahand.
The venue itself is just stunning. It was honestly the first and last place that we looked at for our wedding, full-stop. Our guests loved the historic aspect of it while still enjoying all of the modern amenities (air conditioning and bathrooms) of an outdoor/garden wedding. We were able to hold cocktail hour inside the cottage and then put a wonderful clear-top tent up that could accommodate out 130 guests (though they are one of the few venues in DC that can hold up to 200).
On the wonderful, amazing, ever accommodating Sahand, we really lucked out. Since over a year ago when we asked if we could tour the venue, right up until our wedding day, he was amazing and we honestly couldn't have felt any better taken care of (important when you have so many other things going on leading up to and the day of your wedding!). My finace and I don't miss a lot about the wedding planning process, but the main one is that we don't get to talk to Sahand anymore!
All around A++ experience, wonderful time, and great memories. We couldn't recommend this venue more.

We could not be happier with choosing to have our wedding at President Lincoln's Cottage!

This incredible venue is a hidden gem in DC sure to entertain both locals and out-of-towners. We were looking for an outdoor wedding venue in DC, and this was the first one we visited. We were blown away by Sahand's professionalism and down-to-earth personality as well as the beautiful venue. After we visited PLC, every other venue paled in comparison!

Throughout the wedding planning process, Sahand was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. I love that PLC offered a preferred vendor list - we ended up hiring all but one of our vendors through that list. Their preferred vendors have worked a ton of weddings at PLC and know the ropes like the back of their hand.

Another reason we were interested in PLC was their rain plan. Most venues we visited didn't have a rain plan or you'd have to pay an extreme amount, but Sahand graciously offered the 2nd floor of the cottage as a rain plan in our package. It did end up raining on our wedding day, but we were able to still hold the ceremony outdoors and moved dinner inside. Having an intimate dinner with your friends and family in Lincoln's master bedroom where he wrote the 1st draft of the Emancipation Proclamation is not a bad rain plan :)

Our bid day was the most beautiful and special day I could ever have imagined and that is mainly due to Sahand and the staff at PLC.

President Lincoln's Cottage is an incredible venue with a rich history and we just feel so lucky that we were able to get married there.

First, the space: The house itself is beautiful and both the front and back yards are absolutely gorgeous. We had the ceremony in the back yard under the striking magnolia tree, the cocktail hour in the house, and the reception under a tent in the front yard. The tent went over the statue of Lincoln, which was very cool and got a lot of praise from our guests. It also feels so special to be in the presence of so much amazing history and on the grounds of the old soldier's home. If you're a history/social justice/civil rights nerd, this is the absolute perfect venue. I was in heaven.

Second, the people. Sahand, who is in charge of events for the Cottage, is absolutely incredible. He helped me plan this wedding for two years, including a gazillion details, logistics, and emails. He was prompt, pleasant and helpful every single time. He didn't miss a beat. On the day of the wedding, he was amazing. He went above and beyond to take care of us and our guests. He was somehow both unobtrusive and incredibly attentive! I don't know how Sahand does it but we are so grateful for everything he did to make our wedding wonderful.

We feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have hosted our wedding at President Lincoln's Cottage. The setting is simply beautiful, charming, and historic. It is truly special to be able to host a wedding here and we highly recommend it to anyone considering it.

We had planned an al fresco outdoor dinner for our big day, but got edged out by the spring rains. We'd been nervous about this, but honestly, the indoor backup rain plan turned out BEAUTIFULLY. Having dinner upstairs in the cottage felt like being in a time capsule and allowed our guests a more intimate experience with this beautiful setting.

The team at the cottage is AMAZING. Sahand Miraminy was such a joy to work with. He kept us laughing throughout the entire wedding planning process at put us at ease when moments of stress arose. He made the wedding running so smoothly.

We may be biased, but President Lincoln's Cottage is hands down the best place in DC to get married, and has the best staff of people to shower you with support and encouragement throughout the planning process. We were looking for a meaningful, historic venue with a good amount of outdoor space and knew immediately when we toured Lincoln's Cottage that we had found what we were looking for and more. And as other reviews have stated, Sahand is a pro! He gave us great tips throughout the process and made us feel as though our wedding had a unique importance to him and to everyone at the cottage. We're so happy to have chosen President Lincoln's Cottage for our wedding, and we look forward to visiting and remaining connected to the cottage throughout our marriage.

Imagine getting married in the summer home of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln. A gothic revival cottage noted for its understated elegance. The place to which Lincoln chose to escape the hustle and bustle of the White House and Capitol Hill. The place he chose to be in order to be near wounded soldiers returning home from the war. Imagine having one's wedding reception in the same room where Lincoln wrote the first draft of the Emancipation Proclamation. Such is the historical significance of the Cottage.

But President Lincoln's Cottage is also known for its disarming charm. The space is adaptable to accommodating the needs of every couple. We hosted a cocktail reception on the first floor with a bar on the veranda. Dinner was served on the second floor in the Emancipation Proclamation Room. And cake cutting took place on the first floor in front of the fireplace with the band set up in an adjacent room. Our 80 guests enjoyed a memorable experience as did we. We had the wedding reception of our dreams.

No review of the Cottage is complete without full acknowledgement of the incredible professionalism and expert coordination of Sahand Miraminy, the event coordinator. He is one in a million as event coordinators go. Sahand embodies the uniqueness and charm of the Cottage. And he knows its history better than anyone else. He is a passionate protector of the history and legacy of the Cottage.

You will not regret choosing President Lincoln's Cottage as the venue for your wedding ceremony and/or reception. I promise.

My wife and I recently passed our 1-year wedding anniversary and not a day goes by without our reminiscing fondly about the magical wedding experience we had at Lincoln Cottage. The cottage hosted our evening wedding reception after we celebrated our ceremony at a church in downtown Washington in the late afternoon. We had about 80 guests and rented both floors of the cottage. We hosted a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres on the first floor, and then a buffet-style seated dinner on the second floor, followed by cake, music and dancing back on the first floor. The setting was absolutely magical - just a very special, traditional jewel nestled outside of the bustle of downtown Washington. Sahand was our liaison at Lincoln Cottage and he was just a wonderful guide and partner during our planning process. He patiently helped to answer all of our questions and tailor an event that fulfilled all of our wishes. We highly recommend Lincoln Cottage to anyone who's considering!

From the very second we stepped foot on the grounds of the Cottage, we knew that we wanted it to be our venue. It is picturesque, beautiful, and historic without feeling stuffy or overly done. There is a relaxed and grounded nature to the cottage that is very welcoming and immediately made us feel right at home. Living up to its past, it truly feels like a retreat from DC while also feeling rooted in the city. We also loved that the Cottage has a rich history that fuels the amazing work and activism that the staff there carries forward to this day. Overall, as a DC venue, it surpassed everything we were hoping to find.

But beyond the venue itself, Sahand (the events coordinator repeatedly mentioned in other comments) truly is one of the best individuals that we had the pleasure of working with throughout the process. He was honest and upfront, professional, hilarious, engaging, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He made the experience very personal to us, provided us with insanely helpful advice, and was very quick to respond to any questions that we had. And on the day of, his staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure that everything was executed exactly how we wanted it -- all while keeping a smile on his face. (Seriously, cannot stress enough how blown away I was with the work the staff at the Cottage did on the day of the wedding.)

Selecting the Cottage as our venue was 100% without a doubt the best decision we made when planning our wedding, and we are insanely happy we will be able to be a part of the Cottage family for years to come.

I would literally give the Cottage twenty stars if I could. Not only is an incredible historic venue that will wow every guest, but it is such a picturesque place to hold a wedding and a perfect venue for a fall wedding in particular. But as great as the location is, the people make it even better. Sahand is the single best person we worked with during this wedding, and probably one of the greatest people I've worked with on ANYTHING before. So responsive, so fun yet professional, and was literally willing to do anything within reason to make our day special. It's rare that you can say a wedding venue is an incredible value for the money, but the Cottage is worth every penny (and probably more). Sure, you can probably pay tens of thousands of dollars and have a ridiculously lavish wedding somewhere in DC; but for a rustic and historic wedding that EVERY guest will fondly remember, and a top-notch experience for the special couple, there's no place else to even consider than the Cottage.

What does it mean to get married at President Lincoln's Cottage? For students of history, from 3 to 90 years old, it meant perfection. We dined under his magnolia tree, played checkers on the Cottage’s checkerboard, and waited for the ceremony to begin in a very special dressing room. During the cocktail hour, we received guests in the home where President Lincoln penned ideas for the Emancipation Proclamation. Our wedding day was special, magical, historic. Our guests were awestruck by the beauty and significance of the surroundings; we were all deeply humbled to celebrate such a special occasion in such a special place.

We knew from the moment we found it that "the Cottage" was the right place for our wedding. Sahand - the Events Coordinator - is warm, enthusiastic, attentive, and has an extraordinary command of Cottage history. Our only regret is that our wedding day is over, but we look forward to attending the many incredible programs and events at "the Cottage" in the future.

President Lincoln's Cottage was the perfect location for a wedding! We had family and friends traveling in from all over the country, and having our wedding at an historic, Washington DC venue made it extra special. All of our guests loved the venue and got a real kick out of being there. Plus, the location is absolutely beautiful! Finally, you get to work with Sahand, who is wonderful, super responsive, and flexible! Really, this place can't be beat and, if you're looking for a place that lets you have both an outdoor and historic component (and really embrace a DC vibe) to your wedding, this the ideal venue. It's worth every penny!

In short, if you find yourself connected to this venue right away, trust your instinct. It was one of the best decisions my husband and I made for our wedding day.

The incredibly stunning historic summer home of Lincoln can speak for itself; located in a quiet corner of DC with ample free parking and gorgeous architecture and gardens. This helped my husband and I save on wedding decorations. We were married under the gorgeous magnolia tree - all we needed was a table to hold our ceremony items. Cocktails were enjoyed inside and around the property while catering flipped the ceremony space into the reception space. The many fireplaces offered us space to put our personal photographs and a few flower arrangements, giving it an elegant but home-like feel. Dinner was al-fresco, however, the rain plan would have moved us upstairs in the cottage. Staff was incredibly accommodating, kind, and courteous to guests.

Perhaps the best part of this venue, however, is Sahand Miraminy. On the day of our venue walkthrough, Sahand reminded me that we had been talking for two years about this wedding - and I'll be honest and say that those two years flew by, but Sahand was with me and my husband every single step of the way. Early in the process of planning, I found myself in a terrible mix-up and was concerned how to move forward. Sahand not only took it upon himself to resolve the situation, he made me feel confident that while mistakes happen, everything would eventually work out. Every moment forward, I would check in with him and bounce off ideas with him. Each e-mail, phone call, and face-to-face interaction made me feel as though our wedding was the only one that truly mattered. His honest and raw personality fit so well into our dynamic as a couple, that Sahand has become a friend. Sahand's love for this cottage and its mission makes getting married here not only feel like a dream, but also an honor.

Full disclaimer: we didn’t end up choosing the Lincoln Cottage as our wedding venue (primarily because our party ended up being very large), but wanted to still leave a review based on our impressions of the premises and of Sahand, the event coordinator, who, by the way, is a complete boss.

This is a wonderful venue. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept, and the cottage beams with historic significance and elegance. The house itself can accommodate a fair number of guests for a standing reception and / or seated dinner – it would make a perfect place for a very classy cocktail hour in my view, and you would need a bare minimum for decoration purposes, as it’s already stunning. There are a number of DIY customization options (lawn games etc) that are possible here, which is very nice. We were looking for a venue with an outdoor component that is still close to downtown DC, and this is one of the few places that fit the bill. Parking logistics seem very easy, and it’s located on a military base.

The ultimate reason you may want to choose this venue though, in addition to its beauty, is Sahand Miraminy. Planning a wedding is stressful, and you want to be able to blindly trust an on-site coordinator with overseeing the logistics on this all-important day. Fear not – Sahand is an incredibly well-organized, friendly, professional, kick-ass resource. Just having met him once, we would have hired him on the spot. He is worth his weight in gold. I strongly encourage anyone to check out Lincoln Cottage – a great place that has a lot of potential for a great wedding.

We were so blessed to have our wedding and reception at President Lincoln's Cottage.
Sahand and the rest of the staff couldn't have been nicer or more professional.
From Day One, we knew that we had lucked-out.
The location is beautiful by itself, but when you add in the extra details such as a preferred vendors list (can you say, "Less to worry about"?), and all of the one-on-one assistance that Sahand helped with (down to where the best place would be for the bar and violinist), you really can't go wrong!
Even on the Day Of, Sahand and the rest of his team were there early making sure we didn't have to worry about anything and that our guests were happy.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making our day memorable and worry-free!!

This is a really special location and we feel incredibly lucky to have contributed to its history. We had an excellent experience across the entire process. Sahand was quick to respond to all our questions during planning, and was accommodating to make meetings work within our schedules. We were planning on an outdoor ceremony but when that didn't work out, Sahand performed like a magician pulling solutions out of thin air and herding cats... I mean our guests.

The venue was beautiful. The event coordinator made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it and was very responsive to our many messages and requests. Most DC wedding venues cost at least double what we paid, and do not come anywhere as close to the beauty of Lincoln's Cottage. It was amazing to have a wedding at such a historic site. They also made is very easy for us to identify a caterer and other vendors that we needed. They made the whole process super easy and we did not have to stress out about wedding planning at all.

It's hard to find the words to adequately describe the simple majesty of this venue. We held our daughter's wedding on the grounds and in the Cottage on October 29, 2016. From the minute guests passed through the gates onto the property, they knew they were in sacred space. The Cottage is located on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, a beautiful campus that has provided services and residences to certain retired members of the US military. The Cottage is where President Lincoln and his family lived for the summer months during three of the four years he served as president. It is where he penned the Emancipation Proclamation. It is where he slept the last night of his life. Its an exquisite and unique place in the Nation's Capital! With the unflappable help of the Cottage event coordinator, we held the ceremony, cocktail reception, and dinner dance in three unique places on the property. Our guests had access to the visitors center as well. So not only is the venue steeped in meaningful history, it is convenient and beautiful. We highly recommend President Lincoln's Cottage!

This is an absolutely incredible place to get married. It was more perfect the day-of than I even imagined it would be. The tent for dinner+reception, outdoor ceremony, and house for cocktail hour and after party worked so well. Sahand was the best, we want to make him be our friend now! No doubt he had everything under control, worked with us to problem-solve every step of the way, and I'm sure went above and beyond (except we didn't notice cause everything at the wedding ran so smoothly!). Our guests were also totally wowed, both by the property and its history. Highly recommend!

We couldn't be happier to have had our wedding at President Lincoln's Cottage. The professionalism and diligence of the staff was only second to the important, historic setting. Yes, the perfect weather was an added bonus, but the staff went above and beyond both in planning (my endless emails of questions) and on the day of (providing more people and doing more tasks that I hadn't even thought of). Sahand is a delight.

Although neither of us are from DC, we're committed to living our lives here. Weddings are expensive and, if we were going to spend the money, we wanted it to go toward a cause rather than a company's bottom line. President Lincoln's Cottage allowed us to support history, as well as a place that we were proud to invite our friends and families to visit for the 4th of July weekend. The Cottage allowed us to think about how to best use the available spaces, such as lawn games to keep kids occupied. I was only disappointed that many people didn't dance, but it was because they were enjoying one another, the weather, and the lovely setting too much to come inside. Top hats, Mary Todd Lincoln's sitting room, dinner under the stars, photos in Lincoln's library, oh my!

We'll never forget that day. Thanks for making it perfect.

While my fiancé and I didn't ultimately book this venue because our guest list kept growing, we absolutely loved working with Sahand over the past month while we made our decision. The venue itself is a wonderful combination of an historic property and great ambiance - it has a special charm that you don't find just anywhere. Sahand was extremely professional and responsive, I would have loved to work with him to plan my big day!! Ultimately, we just had too many people for the venue's size, which is why we didn't book. The Lincoln Cottage is a really special venue, not just for the historic value, but for the dedicated staff, like Sahand Maraminy, who really work hard to make this hidden treasure accessible and fun.

My wife and I eloped last year, but we were looking for a venue close to home where we could celebrate a victory lap with our friends and family. We were familiar with the Lincoln Cottage (because we live in the nearby) and we were intrigued with the idea of throwing a late afternoon lawn party at the historic site. We met PLC's terrific event coordinator, Sahand Miraminy, who has tons of experience working with different clients at the site, and together we forged a plan for our party, which included a "plan B' if it rained. We had some special requests to personalize the event, like providing tours of the cottage for our guests (recommended), and my wife wanted to supply the cake, and we also wanted to bring a large wooden box to smash dishes (an adapted German custom.) Sahand listened to all our ideas and was very accommodating with all our requests. Initially we wanted to go with our own caterers, but the list of 'preferred vendors' (provided by the venue) ultimately proved very useful, because these vendors know how best to use the space. We chose to work with Stefanie Lowery with Seasons/La Prima Catering for the food, bar and event staff.

When the day arrived the weather did not cooperate, but Sahand and Stefanie certainly did— together they came up with an indoor 'plan B' that worked exceedingly well for our guests and the party setup. We received so much positive feedback from our guests about the venue, the staff, and the food that we heartily recommend this venue to anyone thinking of planning an wedding/special event there. We found Seasons Catering to be very reasonably priced, responsive and professional— we can't praise Stefanie highly enough for her ideas and helpfulness. Two thumbs up.

My husband and I got married here a couple of weeks ago and it was such a wonderful experience. The staff was SO helpful in keeping the pace of the event, managing the guests arrival, and probably countless other details that we didn't even need to think about. The space itself is absolutely beautiful. We had no need for additional decor except flowers for the dinner tables. The history of the place radiates throughout the venue and our guests felt so special getting to celebrate within the same walls that the Lincoln Family spent so much time in (us too!).

President Lincoln's Cottage is a hidden gem of a venue! It's a beautiful property, with a stunning mansion, overlooking downtown DC. It's hard to get better than that. But it does get better--it was cost effective and there's ample free parking, a rarity in DC. And it's such an important place historically--President Lincoln composed the Emancipation Proclamation there.

The staff at the Cottage were a dream to work with. They made all of the logistics easy--quickly responding to emails, availability to tour the site (with other vendors), and attentiveness to detail, making our 80 guests feel welcomed on the day of our wedding. Hats off to coordinator Sahand Miraminy for all his help.

You can't go wrong with President Lincoln's Cottage.

My husband and I were just married here. It's truly a magical place, and the staff make it exceptional. To begin with, you have the history of this being the summer White House in the mid 19th century. President Lincoln didn't just stop by a few times--it was here he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation and would go out for walks in the evenings. I can understand why he loved it, too. The house is elegant and beautiful. The grounds, on a military base, are peaceful and well-kept. We opted for the First Family wedding package, so we had the first floor of the cottage (more than enough space for 100 people) and the beautiful verandah and lawn. A little gazebo sits next to the building. It's like the place was built for photographs. Our guests loved the indoors and outdoors, and they were truly overwhelmed with the historic nature of the building. This place is a jewel in the middle of DC.

At a practical level, it's one of the few places with indoors and (secluded) outdoors available in the District. There's (free!) parking for guests, and it's easy to get to by car/taxi/Uber. The prices were beyond competitive, and it's a non-profit, so there's no sales tax, either. Also, the venue has it's own nice chairs and tables, which saved us quite a bit of money in rental fees. This place is an incredible value.

We worked with Sahand, and he's a treasure. He's so responsive, I wonder if he sleeps. He was very helpful in guiding us through everything we needed to have a fairy tale wedding there, and he helped us navigate the inevitable hiccups associated with a wedding well in advance so our wedding day was trouble-free.

I couldn't recommend President Lincoln's Cottage enough. I fell in love with the place, and now my husband and I have amazing memories and absolutely gorgeous photographs as mementos of our big day. To anyone looking for a wedding in DC, I'd suggest visiting the venue to check it out.

The venue is gorgeous, and the Event Coordinator, Sahand was a savior. We only gave ourselves three months from start to finish to plan our wedding and Sahand was the best. He was super responsive, genuinely caring, professional, and insanely helpful. He even provided us with a list of vendors that made finding a caterer, florist, band, etc. essentially hassle-free. He was always willing to help and even when we ran into a snag a few days before the wedding, he went way above and beyond to help us figure out a way forward. He is top-notch.

The venue is breathtaking. There are so many things that make the Cottage the perfect place for a wedding, from the period future and light fixtures, the beautiful veranda, to the gorgeous fire places, and if that's not enough, there is even a replica desk where Lincoln drafted the Emancipation Proclamation. I can't say enough how awesome the venue was for our wedding. Everyone at the wedding ceremony and reception was raving about how nice it was. I'd give Lincoln's Cottage an A+++++++++

There are not enough words to describe what a fantastic experience we had with Lincoln's Cottage. We decided to have a wedding on pretty short notice and it was very DIY. Sahand, the events coordinator at the venue, was helpful and responsive through every step of the way. He provided creative and thoughtful advice and patiently answered the thousands of questions we had. The venue itself is truly one of a kind, and the atmosphere was very fun and unusual. Think about it- there are vineyards and pretty buildings everywhere in the county, but you can only find Lincoln's summer home here in DC... We initially got the outdoor package, but our wedding day ended up having a mad tropical storm (it would be boring otherwise). Even that was not an issue for the staff at Lincoln's Cottage- they effortlessly (seemingly at least) set everything up inside for us, and we all got to hang out where President Lincoln hung out during the DC summers... how cool is that?
If you're looking for a unique and fun venue with phenomenal staff-- you can't go wrong!

We couldn't have asked for a better experience. This is such a wonderful historic site that is quintessential DC. The grounds are so beautiful and there is so much history. It was truly an honor to have PLC as the back drop for our wedding. Many of our guests were DC natives or long time residents but had never heard of this or been there and this really made our special day extra special. Equal to the fantastic venue was the extraordinary service that we got from the Events Coordinator, Sahand. He was accommodating to our requests and had a backup plan in case the weather put a damper on our outdoor event. He also worked very closely with the caterers to make sure everything went off without a hitch, which it did. We highly recommend this venue for anyone who is considering it.

Lincoln's Cottage is a stunning DC hidden gem steeped in charm and history. The staff and setting made our special day one to remember -- for us and everyone in attendance. Sahand, the events coordinator at the Cottage, was so warm, personable and always responsive (LOVE him!). We got more bang for our buck than we could have ever imagined. Lincoln's Cottage should be at the top of every DC best wedding venue list!

I preface all my comments by saying as a gay couple we never imagined we would ever be planning a wedding so the help and support from the team at President Lincoln's Cottage was particularly important. The cottage was the first venue we looked at and we fell in love with it the moment we arrived. Having such a beautiful space, both inside and outside, to take advantage of made the day perfect. The event coordinator there was so helpful sharing what worked for other events and things that hadn't gone so well. The cottage has a list of potential caterers, musicians, etc. which was really helpful. We actually ended up using several of the vendors on their list. Over the course of the year leading up to our wedding, we visited the site several times with our florist and photographer and the coordinator there was so patient with our questions and requests. On the day of the wedding, just prior to the start of the ceremony the coordinator welcomed the guests and shared a little about the cottage and it's history. So many of our friends and family have mentioned over and over that part of the ceremony was particularly special. If you have a wedding or any kind of event there having that type of introduction is a must! It's no secret that weddings are stressful events but the staff at Lincoln's Cottage made it seem so easy. You will not go wrong with this beautiful venue and the support of the wonderful team there.

Incredibly historic venue with great flexibility to accommodate wedding traditions

President Lincoln's Cottage was the first wedding day venue we looked at and we immediately fell in love and signed the contract! It's a really cool venue that even many DC insiders know little about. It's absolutely picturesque and the monument is accommodating of various wedding traditions - we were able to have a full Baraat procession with a horse and light a fire in the havan kund during the ceremony. They also allowed us to have live Indian food stations during the cocktail hour. Our only issue was largely the result of staff turnover right before our wedding - the Cottage coordinator we had been working with for a year left and the new coordinator had to learn all the logistics of our large Indian wedding all at once. This led to some confusion with delivery of items. The Cottage stores items like alcohol from outside vendors in a storage area in the basement of the visitors center. However, when multiple weddings occur over the weekend these items are stored in the same room. There was some confusion by the various coordinators about which beverage order was ours and unfortunately we ended up having the wrong wine & liquor served at the wedding. The Cottage is an incredible landmark and more people should know about it, but do make sure that all the coordinators you work with have an itemized list of whatever you store at the Cottage in advance of the wedding so they can cross-check to make sure the right items are put out for your event.

    Amazing Venue

We had a wonderful experience having our wedding at Lincolns Cottage. The venue itself was stunning and many guests commented on it. Being able to use both the outdoor space and indoor space was fun and a nice option to have. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable as well! :)

Beautiful, historic venue, and conveniently located

This really was our dream venue. It’s beautiful and you feel like you’re transported outside of the city without having to leave the district. I love the mixture of outside and inside the venue offers. Actually being in DC was convenient for us and our guests. With this venue location our guests were able to explore all of the great tourist options in DC when there weren’t wedding events. There aren’t any hotels next door but DuPont Circle, where we had our hotel blocks, is only a 15 minute drive.

The flexibility for wedding size was a huge plus for us. Most of the other historic venues in the DC area have a limit at around 150 but even then a few of them seemed like it would be really tight if our guest count went over 100. We both have large families who live across the country so we knew we’d be inviting a ton of people who may not be able to travel so being able to fit up to 200 people while still working if significantly fewer people RSVPed was important and it worked perfectly.

Jerry, the event coordinator there, is great. He’s very responsive and made sure everything ran smoothly.

The only negative is that the cost of the tent from the preferred vendor they make you use (Sugarplum Tenting) is about the same cost of the venue itself so definitely take that into account when thinking through your budget. Sugarplum is the exclusive provider for basically all of the historic venues in DC though so if you have your heart set on getting married in a venue like that you’ll be dealing with them no matter what. Despite the cost, Sugarplum does a great job. The other thing to note is that the venue doesn’t provide you with any chairs, decorations, linens, etc. I was fine with that because it meant that we had more control over the look but it does mean more work and extra costs to consider. While the venue has recommended vendors they don’t require you to use any of them, besides Sugarplum, which I really appreciated because I liked having that level of control.

For those of you who are worried about weather, please don’t let it dissuade you from choosing Lincoln’s Cottage! It POURED the day of our wedding but the rain plan worked perfectly and everything was still beautiful. The cottage is so beautiful that we still got great pictures and we used the covered porch to get outside shots that turned out beautiful with the stormy weather. Instead of having the ceremony on the front lawn it was moved to the tent space. For the procession we walked from the visitor’s center to the tent with Jerry holding clear umbrellas so we wouldn’t get wet. We had a chuppah from our florist and they were able to set it up underneath the tent too. We then had cocktail hour in the cottage while the caterer flipped the tent space for the reception. We had about 120 guests for our wedding and the cottage didn’t feel crowded for cocktail hour and guests were still able to drink and get some fresh air on the porch.

We Wouldn't Have Picked Anywhere Else

As a DC resident of 12 years I had my eye on this venue for a long time as did my partner. With only a limited number of weddings done per year we knew we had to make sure to call with enough time to snag our date. At the end of the official tour we put a deposit down with no hesitation.

The historical significance of this landmark was perfect for us as I'm a big history nerd, and with over 100 people coming from out of town, it enticed our guest list to attend the wedding as they got to tour an important historical site. It was nice knowing there would be historians on hand during the cocktail hour to answer any questions our guests had regarding the history of the Cottage and Lincoln.

When we first reached out to the Cottage, we were working with Sahand, who was delightful, but left his position midway through the planning. His successor, Shayla, however, not only made the transition painless but seamless. She was there for all our questions, walkthroughs, and even an impromptu walk-through when my mother popped into town randomly and wanted to see some venue details. Shayla is a wonderful addition to the Lincoln team and I cannot wait for the reviews on here to mention her as many times as her predecessor was mentioned.

Our ceremony took place outside on the back lawn facing the veranda, with a cocktail hour inside, followed by our tented reception on the visitor center lawn.

It's important to note that party size plays a role in where you can have your wedding at the cottage so be aware of that when you do your walkthrough. Also there is a noise restriction regarding amplified music outside, which we knew but had to explain to our Latin family.

The team at President Lincoln's Cottage is fantastic and made our wedding a truly special day. We're still getting people telling us how in awe they were of the venue and it was perfect to have our wedding at one of DC's best hidden treasures.

For anyone looking for a unique venue in the heart of Washington, DC, you can't do better than President Lincoln's Cottage. The cottage's space gave us the ability to have both our ceremony and reception on site--and the amazing staff worked with us to accommodate our needs to move the ceremony inside when bad weather prevented it from being outside as we had planned. The team at PLC knows how to work well with vendors and the cottage itself has everything our caterers, DJ, officiant--in short all of crews supporting the event--needed to do their jobs seamlessly. Our guests all commented the next day how special and memorable our wedding was. We couldn't have hoped for a better place to celebrate at!

Micro wedding in the time of COVID

President Lincoln's Cottage was one of our very favorite wedding venues from the start of our search. It's a beautiful setting with meaningful historical significance, and it felt good knowing that our venue fee was going toward something we both cared about. We ended up having many unexpected developments in our wedding planning process, including happening to start our planning process during a transition phase between staff at the Cottage, but more so the COVID pandemic which obviously turned the whole wedding industry upside down. In the end, the Cottage offered us a "micro-wedding" package, which turned out to be the right fit for what we were looking for. It was very helpful to be able to downsize our wedding to a safe number of guests for Phase 2, and the great thing about the Cottage is that the outdoor spaces/grounds are so extensive that there was no problem at all social distancing (we had zero issues with COVID at all with our wedding, which was fully social distanced!) Perhaps the best thing was that we were able to have our dinner outdoor on the lawn under lights, which was beautiful. We recommend the Cottage to any couples looking for an outdoor wedding experience in the heart of DC. (One thing for couples to be aware of: under normal circumstances, a tent is required, and note that you can expect the cost of the tent to be equivalent to the venue fee). Thank you to all the staff at the Cottage -
