They made the process EASY for an out of town wedding!

They are so on top of it and accommodating! What I wanted, they made happen! When something wasn’t working out the way I envisioned it, they worked with me until it was perfect! They made my dream wedding come true! They are very friendly and easy to work with. When something was coming up that needed to be done in the wedding planning process, they guided me through it. Things even came up like my wedding dress hem wasn’t completed and still had pins in it the morning of the wedding. The owner drove over with a sewing kit to help us. They are AWESOME!

Everything about prairiewood was PERFECT! They were so helpful helping me make my dream wedding come true. I’m so grateful I chose to have my wedding there. We took advantage of the Stonehouse for us girls to stay at and my husband and I stayed in one of the Home place rooms. It was all perfect!

Absolutely gorgeous setting for our wedding and reception! Very user-friendly, the staff was great, and the scenery was beautiful. It was such a treat for me and my family to stay there.

Prariewood was amazing! The place was absolutely beautiful, clean, well organized, etc. I utilized most everything and don't know what I would have done without that golf cart the day of the event. We had some guests that had surgery or were older and being able to use that to take them down to the meadow was fantastic. I also enjoyed the fact that there was enough space for some key members to stay onsite, and the extra amenities were great. Relaxing in the hot tub, taking a swim, and using the grill to make our rehearsal dinner was so nice. At the event everyone was so professional and kept things tidy like they said they would. Communication never surpassed 4 business hours for someone to get a hold of me, which I loved. They also provided me with templates and helped me come up with a layout that fit with my event. It was a fantastic experience through and through.

    Perfect for a smaller wedding

We chose the Blue Sage Barn as our venue so that our wedding party would have a place to stay, we could have the rehearsal dinner on site, and so that we could have an indoor wedding at the same location as our reception. We split the barn in half, with the reception on one side of the barn and the wedding on the other. The chairs were cleared out for a dance floor after the ceremony. Prairiewood did a great job making sure that we had enough seating and tables set up exactly how we wanted them. We felt very welcome and the wedding party loved the Retreat House. The Retreat House also gave us a great spot to get ready and shoot formal photos.

The venue was gorgeous and the pricing was good, only complaint was that as it got closer to the wedding the person that was suppose to be helping was hard to get a hold of, otherwise it was amazing!

We use Prairiewood Retreat for our wedding venue, and we couldn't have been happier with the location. The house is beautiful, and can be used for the bridal party and parents. We used it for our Rehearsal Dinner as well. The barn has just been renovated and was completed a few months ago. It is absolutely gorgeous, and is perfect for weddings. Our favorite part, however, is the surroundings. There are trees and tallgrass all around, and its an absolutely gorgeous setting for a wedding. Everyone at our wedding remarked at how beautiful and unique our location was, and we couldn't agree more. The price seems a little high at first, but once you realize everything that you get with the venue, it becomes much more reasonable.

    Not worth the risk

When we first toured Prairiewood we fell in love with the venue and couldn't imagine having our wedding elsewhere. My actual experience was soured for many reasons toward the end of our stay.

    1) We received charges for items that were damaged prior to our use of the venue. I have this in writing.

    2) After talking with the owner, we tried to get out of the Blue Sage Barn first because they had an event later that day. We had paid for additional checkout time, but after she mentioned they had an event that evening we prioritized getting out of this space. Because of this, we were late checking out of the StoneHouse. That's on us, we get it. We accepted the $500 late checkout fee. On top of this, the owner tried to bill us $200 for taking trash bags to the trash can. There was no walk through done at Stonehouse, so my mom didn't know where the outdoor trash bins were. In an attempt to help out, she had bagged up all of the trash from wedding prep and set them outside the door so that they could easily be taken to the dumpster.

    3) We were accused of taking or damaging a solitary curtain from the Stonehouse. Who takes a single curtain? Likewise, we were accused of taking a single pillowcase from RetreatHouse. Again, who does this?

    4) After settling on an amount that I still don't agree with for the "damages" because I was tired of the back and forth, I let them know what date we could have the invoice paid off. Said invoice was then sent to me with a due date one month prior to this date. I then received an email about two months later stating she would send our account to collections if we didn't send a payment or keep her in the loop. I let her know that I was planning to pay off the invoice with my Christmas bonus (received the last week of November, so in the month she'd listed the invoice due in full), because we'd run into hard times financially.

I will say the venue was beautiful, but after paying over twelve grand for our wedding package, I was less than thrilled with being nickled and dimed at the end of our stay for things that seemed ridiculous. A missing pillowcase, a single curtain, etc. I didn't mind paying for a damaged towel or throw pillow, as our nephew had a panic attack and had gotten sick on the pillow. We cleaned up the mess with a towel, that was ultimately considered damaged. Fine, those things I understand being billed for. I even understand the late checkout fee, though it would have been nice if the owner worked with us considering we paid for late checkout in another part of the venue, and didn't use the late checkout because we were trying to help her out since she had another event there that evening.

I would say that this venue is beautiful, but if you stay here, make sure that you take photos of everything and require a walk through with the owner so that you don't get charged for things you didn't damage/take.
