This review is long overdue. First let me say, Potts and Pans are PHENOMENAL:). My husband is Haitian and I’m Trinidadian and from the moment we got engaged, I knew I wanted a ‘panman’ at our wedding. We hired Matt, Christina and Anthony to play during our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and I’m sooooo happy that we did. They had our wedding guests singing and hyped up for the reception, and they even got the older folks (like my parents and the in laws) dancing which was awesome!! I could hear the singing and the music from the ceremony room while the hubby and I took pics and wanted to hustle so I could get some food and join the party:). Throughout our wedding preparations, there was never a time where we were worried about what Matt and his team would perform for us. After we heard them play Lucy and Happiest man alive at our initial meeting, it definitely sealed the deal for us. Our wedding guests were mostly young 20-30something Caribbean people, and the only requirement for Matt and his team was that the music be recent, festive and recognizable to our guests (translation: plenty soca and calypso….lol) which it was. It was really great working with Potts and Pans, and Roby and I couldn’t be happier with choosing them as one of our wedding vendors!!! Money well spent

My experience with Potts & Pans is probably atypical in that we rented pans but not players, since I did the music and my best friends, all pan players, did the performance. Knowing that I wanted pan at the ceremony, I had been so stressed trying to find instruments...until I got in touch with Matt. He was so easy to work with and flexible, dropping off the pans before the ceremony so that we had enough time to rehearse and picking them up afterwards - the whole experience was so easy and seamless. In the midst of wedding craziness it was such a relief to know that Matt was so professional and reliable. I would absolutely work with Potts & Pans again the next time I need instruments.

I worked with Matt Potts with the Potts and Pans Community Steelband as a 4th of July Parade entry. Matt was a pleasure to work with. He was very professional, accommodating, and passionate about the music. The band was timely and talented and the crowd seemed to enjoy them very much. I have no hesitations recommending this group to others.

We had an adult event (120 people) and our theme was a Luau! We wanted Carribean type music and Potts and Pans WERE EXCELLENT. Not only was this exactly what were we looking for but the three members of the band that performed were very professional, gracious to all of our attendees and made our event even more memorable! We have already booked them for our next event!!!!

Potts and Pans performed for the child development center where I teach the school-age summer program. I was looking for a few different vendors to come in this summer as entertainment for all of the classes at our center. Potts and Pans did not disappoint!! They were fantastic and kept the kids attention (ages 6 wks - 13 years) for 45 min! They had they kids dancing and singing along to the music. I would definitely invite them to come back!! Thank you Potts and Pans for a wonderful experience!

We had the pleasure of having the professional ensemble along with the community band out to perform for our Cub Scout Day Camp lunchtime entertainment. The audience consisted of 140 boys going into 5th grade along with teenage and adult volunteers and some younger siblings. The performance was educational as well as entertaining and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone! The boys loved that they even played 2 popular tunes that they could recognize from the radio and happily sang along. They also had 8 volunteers up for one song to play egg shakers (similar to maracas). The professionalism and attention to detail was outstanding. I really enjoyed working with Matt to make the arrangements and was treated with respect every step of the way by all of the performers. I highly recommend hiring Potts & Pans Steelband for your event!

We initially contacted Potts & Pans to have them perform as a band for our anniversary party. Unfortunately, we found out that we could not have live music. We then hired Matt as our DJ, he played everything I asked, was professional, accommodating, and courteous.

Matt had been highly recommended to me by someone else who had used him. Although he was not available for our date, he worked extraordinarily hard to come up with someone that was a good match for what we wanted. It was all looking very bleak, but he didn't give up and we ended up with someone who exceeded our expectations. We wanted a caribbean/reggae feel for our high school sailors - something upbeat but not crossing the line of being too edgy. The gentleman who agreed to do it had a fabulous voice and was great on the keyboard and with his true Jamaican roots was perfect. He was patient, courteous and extremely upbeat. I can not say enough positive things about both of them.

We booked "Potts and Pans" for a Arlington Heights Memorial Library off-site event at a nearby park. Matt Potts and his musicians were amazingly talented, very friendly and welcoming to the attendees and most of all they kept the music flowing while adjusting to the crowd. The audience included a wide variety of ages and the response was overwhelmingly positive from all!

The group lead an interactive assembly at my school. They presented an interesting history of the steel drums, that had students clapping, stomping, shaking, and a few going up front to join the group. The students' attention was captured. Within the history lesson, some well known tunes were incorporated into the show that invited even more involvement, including singing along. Overall, a very enjoyable performance that was very well suited for the school.
Highly recommend for your next assembly.

We recently had Potts & Pans play at a Grand Opening of our Luxury Apartment building. They did an absolutely amazing job! We wanted some nice steel band background music to go along with the party on the rooftop and they were exactly what we were looking for. The performance was perfect for the occasion and people were constantly commenting on how great the music sounded. The set list they choose was also a nice combination of some newer modern songs along with some traditional mixed in - it really was the best of both. I would Seriously recommend Potts & Pans if you are looking for a steel band and I will certainly be using them for other upcoming events at the building.

We had Potts and Pans for a school assembly. The kids and teachers loved it! The group made some wonderful educational connections to the countries of origin and presented the information in a way that really stuck with the students.

From the moment I contacted Potts and Pans they were a delight to work with, professional, informative, and helpful sums it up. The musician (Anthony) showed up on time and played nonstop during the entire event. What was really impressive is not only how good he was but the diffferant types and styles of music he played on the steel drum. My guests were very pleased and enjoyed him very much.

Pots and Pans performed at my elementary school's Fine Arts day. The students were enthralled with the program and thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. Pots and Pans included students and got them involved in the music in addition to being a listening audience. An excellent opportunity to for WCs students to experience instruments most would never have seen. They were captivated by the experience.

Potts & Pans performed for an audience one evening at our public library, more of a program than a social event. The audience really enjoyed the unique musical sound of the steel pan drums and learning the amazing history and culture behind them.

Matt was the steel drummer during my wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. Our theme was "modern beach" so it was the perfect touch to our special day. Matt was beyond amazing!!! He learned a song that I wanted him to play ((super last minute)) while the bridal party walked down the aisle with only a week before the wedding! Throughout the whole process I felt as though he paid attention to detail and really wanted to ensure my day was as best as he could make it!

Potts and Pans was great. Anthony responded quickly about any concerns leading up to the event. All of our guest really enjoyed their energy as well as the great mix of traditional soca tunes and popular songs on steelpan drum. I am definitely planning on booking them again.

Matt was very prompt in replying within 24hrs and very personable and professional. He fit perfectly into our Island themed Bon Voyage wedding reception and even wore our colors. Our guests loved the steel pans during cocktail hour and we would definitely hire him again!

Amazing Steel Drum Group!
Matt and his band of drummers entertained the crowd at the Festival Of The Horse & Drum in St Charles, Illinois.
We are inviting them back again next year.....we LOVED them and their music!

Potts & Pans was the perfect fit for our beach wedding on the shores of Lake Michigan. We had Anthony come and preform for the ceremony and cocktail hour on our big day. He came early to set up and was very professional. My husband and I would recommend Potts & Pans to anyone looking for something different and memorable for any occasion.

I had been planning my ceremony music with Potts & Pans for about a year. Every single time I emailed or called, I got a response within a business day or two. The song list they have is long and fun! I had a Caribbean themed wedding so I wanted to make sure they knew how to play whatever I came up with, and they delivered! Anthony played the entire time leading up to our guest arrival, ceremony, to the time the guests headed to cocktail hour. The music made mine and my husband's ceremony personal, unique, and creative. These guys are professional and extremely talented! Would not have changed a thing about it!

The Potts and Pans musicians were very professional, courteous, and talented. Set up and take down were seamless and they were very prepared for any weather occurrence. The historical information they provided about the music and instruments was very interesting and added a lot of value to the show. After the performance, many guests told me that this was the best band we had booked all summer. They begged me to bring them back again next year. I would definitely hire them again.

Matt Potts handled all interactions with exceptional professionalism. He accomodated all of our requests and kept on schedule with the flexibility to stay longer depending on our guests. The steel pan sound was light-hearted and festive, perfect for our post wedding party!

Many compliments receive how nice it was to have him play. Still getting compliments from those that attended. One of the attendees now wants to hire him for a future wedding event they are planning. We hired him for my mothers retirement party, unfortunately the list of events did not include that. I felt the theme of Steele drums was perfect for Retirement to enhance the "Permanent Vacation" theme.

Booked Matt Potts by just viewing his website and boy were we happy we did! Not only was he prompt and ready to go when my guests arrived, but he has a great personality and his music was outstanding! I have to say, probably the biggest highlight of our hour reception! I received so many compliments from our guests how much they enjoyed the steel drum! Our theme was tropical and with that music, it was absolutely amazing!!

This was the 2nd event that Potts and Pans performed at for me and they will certainly perform at the next.
Theo are very easy to work with and did what they can to accommodate my schedule. The staff is very professional and music excellent.

Potts & Pans were fabulous for our music program at a Rockford Park District music event. All of our guests thoroughly enjoyed the music as well as our performer, Anthony. Anthony did a great job of giving background and the history the steel drum while performing. The audience participation was fabulous & guests left with huge smiles on their faces. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for something fun & unique!

Potts and Pans spent many hours before my daughters wedding communicating with us and making plans. My daughter, her fiancé and I attended one of their events when they had a training for other area steel pan bands throughout the Midwest. Not only is this band passionate about their services, they are also into teaching steel pan groups throughout the area. We saw the concert at the culmination of their training day where all bands attending played together. It was obvious that Potts and Pans knowledge and enthusiasm had rubbed off on the members of other participants. We left there very excited and sure that we had found the fit for music at our wedding event.
A couple months before the wedding, the band started communicating with the bride and groom regarding the type of music as well as specific selections that they would like for the ceremony as well as the cocktail hour following the ceremony. They can play a wide variety of music, from, Cannon in D to jazz, and pop music . We were so pleased with their performance. They set the tone and created the beautiful atmosphere of the ceremony. We had many compliments from the wedding guests regarding the performance of this group. Their price was fair,and they totally were flexible about providing wireless microphones, etc.
I would highly recommend this awesome group of passionate musicians for any event! Great job!

Potts & Pans was fantastic. Such a perfect fit for our Summer Luau to celebrate Father's Day at our Golf Club! The steel drum music was lively, on theme with our Luau and absolutely beautiful to listen to all evening. It definitely fit our needs and exceeded our expectations. A huge hit all around for all ages - totally made our event and contributed to the success of the evening.

I saw Potts & Pans two years ago at another event and immediately wanted them for our graduation party. He (Matt) was worth the wait! We had an outdoor party and Matt played for us during the dinner hours. He was wonderful! I got so many compliments about how great the music was. The event was a cocktail/dinner retirement celebratio. 35 couples representing senior management of america's largest retailers and their key suppliers were guests and they (and their wives) commented on the really pleasant quality of music that the steel drum ensemble of four presented before, during, and after dinner. They added that it was a great pleasure that all were able to enjoy the music as well as have comfortable conversations at the dinner tables with ALL parties at the table. The band was discreet in taking its breaks, never introduced inappropriate music (in lyrics or decibles).
Interestingly, the guests commented that they would not have thought of a steel drum band at such a party and added that they would even engage this genre and/or this band, in personal/private venues they may be hosting.

Matt and his entire band were very professional and easy to work with. We typically don't have bands play at our event in consecutive years but Potts & Pans was such a hit with the crowd, we made an exception and brought them back. I am lobbying to have them play for a third consecutive year!

I definitely recommend Potts & Pans to anyone planning an event. They did a great job at our wedding and were very flexible to work with. They have a good sound. I hired them as a trio and liked that one of the players switched from playing xylophone during the wedding ceremony to percussion during the banquet to give the music a different flavor. They catered all of the music to everything that I was hoping for and even learned a song for the ceremony.

Matt and his band members did an exceptionally great job preparing and playing at my daughter's wedding. We had the opportunity to work with them on some surprise special songs and they did a wonderful job. They played an assortment of music on the steel drums that you would not expect and it was a great treat to be able to add them to the evening. I would highly recommend Potts and Pans. They were affordable, professional and a great addition to the wedding.

We hired Matt Potts for our afternoon wedding reception. We were looking for a steel drum for background music to add to our Caribbean themed reception. He was outstanding! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the duo. Had lots of positive feedback. It was an outdoor venue with 150 in attendance. The volume was perfect for both enjoying the music and being able to visit with friends and relatives.

Working with this group was a great experience! The band was more than willing to arrange songs that I had specially requested. They arrived and set up promptly at both the ceremony and reception maintaining a very professional attitude. The group also responded well to changes that had to be made last minute in the schedule. This group was a lot of fun to have at my wedding!

Very friendly and easy to work with. Provided a great balance of engagin the crowd while letting those in attendance being able to mingle and carry on conversation. I loved being asked to come up and play along with one of the songs! The advance discussion about the event made for a very personal event that included pieces about me as the host. Great time! I worked with Matt Potts a lot on the songs I wanted for our ceremony. They sounded good in the clips he sent me. He works with you really well on what you want. He ended up not being able to play at our wedding bc he was in a wedding the same day but he made sure Anthony, who was playing instead, was up to speed and he did a good job. Only thing was his speaker went out before I made my walk all the way down the aisle which obviously sucked, but wasn't his fault. He quickly fixed the issue before he had to play again. That is my only complaint, otherwise I really loved having the steel drums played!

This was not really a corporate event rather a "family event" given at a library. We were very happy with the turnout because we had many, many families with lots of kids, exactly what we had hoped for. The program was very interactive and kept everyone engaged.

The concert was very entertaining and interesting. It was great to see the versatility and hear the history of the steel pans. One particular critique would be the use of a microphone or portable sound system to better hear the information given and on the lead steel pan. She was a hard to hear.
