The most beautiful cake
We cannot ask for a more beautiful wedding cake. The elegance of the design matched our overall aesthetic perfectly. The cake was so popular that we barely had left-overs!
The tasting box worked really well – we were able to find our favorite flavors and also provided feedback. Laura was great to work with. She listened to our stories and brainstormed ideas together – the whole process was very smooth and stress free!

Exceptional
I highly recommend Pip & Bits. Working with Laura was delightful. The communication flowed and every detail for our son and daughter in law’s Floating wedding cake was perfect. Incredible wedding cake experience!
I truly cannot say enough good things about Pip & Bits! Laura, the owner, was wonderful to work with from start to finish. She was so thoughtful about both the design and flavors of the cake. We wanted a cake that evoked an Art Deco vibe to go with our Great Gatsby/roaring 20-inspired wedding, but we didn't want it to be overly theme-y. She delivered an absolutely gorgeous design that perfectly captured the "understated glam" look we were hoping for. We went with two flavors that were elevated, unique takes on classic flavors - chocolate cake with bourbon pecan cream cheese filling, and vanilla cake with salted honey vanilla buttercream filling. (My husband and I never would have thought we would have chosen a chocolate wedding cake, but Laura's recipe is out of this world.) Everyone raved about how delicious it was. Overall, a fantastic experience with Laura - I'm already thinking about when I might be able to get another cake from her! -

Best Cake Ever
Could not recommend Pip & Bits more. Laura was a delight to work with and provided insight and help throughout the process. The tasting was perfect and so easy. It was so tough not to choose the chocolate cake, but we went with the lemon. It was phenomenal. The type of cake where people do not stop talking about it after the wedding! -

We loved our wedding cake from Pip & Bits! We received five tasting samples before ordering our cake, and choosing between the options was a tough decision because they were all so good. We ended up choosing two flavors (chocolate w/espresso and spice cake w/cream cheese) and they were both fantastic. We ordered more portions than we thought we'd need, and we still barely managed to take home a few slices because guests wanted seconds. The cake was also gorgeous--Laura provided a beautiful dreamy paint-inspired design that perfectly matched the aesthetic of the event. We couldn't have been happier! And as an Astoria resident, I was glad to support a baker right in my neighborhood. -

Great tasting food was one of the top priorities for us in planning. We had tasted cakes from another very popular wedding cake vendor before Pip n Bits, and the moment we tasted Pip n Bits we had a clear winner. Laura, the owner, was very easy to work with. I loved that she had an extensive flavor list with some unique options, and asked for our taste preferences to determine which flavor combinations to have us taste. My husband and I are huge dessert people so do not take it lightly when she says her chocolate cake is the best -- it's true. We ultimately chose a three-layer chocolate cake with speculoos icing which was so delicious and also, stunning. She nailed the look we wanted. So many of our guests told us they don't like cake or chocolate and said they loved the cake. If you've tried other cake vendors and aren't sold on them, I promise Pip n Bits will be the one! -

Laura was so great to work with and her cakes are so delicious. We wanted three smaller cakes instead of one large one and Laura worked with us to create three absolutely incredible flavors: vanilla cake with lemon curd and berries, chocolate cake with hazelnut praline filling, and a spice cake with bourbon pecan cream cheese filling. Every flavor was delicious at our tasting and they were all just as good at our wedding. On top of being delicious, the cakes looked beautiful. Highly recommended. -

Laura was an absolute pleasure to work with. From the cake tasting to the final product, it was a perfect! She created 6 tasting cakes for us (some flavors she had and some we asked for). We went with a pistachio cake with raspberry filling and honey vanilla meringue buttercream. It was AMAZING! All the guests said how great the cake was and how unique it was. It was a hit! We highly recommend you work wit Pip & Bits for your big day! -

My wife and I had Pip 'n Bits make our wedding cake and could not have been happier! We tried a few other vendors first, and always felt like everything was just a sugar bomb with nothing else to it. Then in comes Pip 'n Bits blowing us away with unbelievably customizable cakes filled with various buttercreams and Italian meringues. We went with one tier of cardamom cake with honey Italian meringue, the largest tier of chocolate cake with nutella buttercream or Italian meringue (I forget which it was) topped and filled with strawberries, and a tier of the best carrot cake I've ever had. Like...actually, I'm usually a chocolate person but the carrot cake is kinda life changing with the candied nuts. What Pip 'n Bits does so well is find flavors that aren't JUST sweet so you actually want to eat a whole slice (or two) as opposed to giving up after two bites. Everything was moist and fluffy, the tasting process was awesome, the cake was beautiful, and it was as good the day of as it was when we did our tasting. I could not recommend Pip 'n Bits highly enough! -

WOW! We tried 3 wedding cake bakeries and Pip and Bits blew them all away in terms of service, taste/decoration, design, price and flexibility. They also worked with us on a less than 2 week turnaround. People were RAVING about the cake at our wedding. Don't sleep on their chocolate cake, it truly is the best I've ever had! -

Amazing Cakes
I am so happy we chose Pips N Bits for our wedding cake. Laura was easy to work with and very flexible. During our phone consult we discussed flavors we liked and didn’t like as well as what we wanted visually. We initially decided on a two tier cake but later decided that we wanted a single tier cake for ourselves and individual mini cakes for our guests. I was a bit nervous to present this to Laura after we already agreed on the two tier cake but Laura was totally on board with the idea.
My husband loves chocolate so we decided on chocolate cake with fresh strawberries and vanilla buttercream as the filling…it was amazing. I loved that she used fresh fruit as opposed to a jam or processed filling. We each took multiple bites during the cake cutting. The cake was so delicious we ate the remainder for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the days following the wedding. I think we’ll having to order another one for our 1 year anniversary.
As for the mini cakes, we chose a Cardamom spice cake with salted honey buttercream. Our guests loved the idea of individual mini cakes and more importantly, they raved about how great it taste. The flavor was unexpected for a wedding cake. Multiple guests reached out to us after the wedding to inquire about the mini cakes.
Overall, working with Laura was easy, she was open to our ideas and her cakes taste amazing. -

Get your cake from Laura!!!
I found Pip & Bits on an internet search after my original contracted baker canceled for our wedding a little over a month out and it was a good reminder that everything happens for a reason. Laura replied, among a few others, to my inquiry but her response completely stood out. She was so kind and showed so much interest in learning the details of our day, her email just overall made me happy again and gave me so much hope. We even asked of her to recreate the unique flavor (bourbon pear) we previously picked out, and she willingly took on the challenge. When we picked up our tasting, my fiancé and I could not believe how she actually recreated the flavor we fell in love with AND it tasted even a little better, however that was possible. If that doesn’t speak of her talent I’m not sure what does. We can’t wait to use Laura for all of our future celebrations. -

Laura from PipNBits was super accommodating and had our cake made on such short notice! We had a tasting with 3 delicious mini cakes and as soon as we tried them we knew we chose the right baker! The buttercream was just right, not too thick or overwhelming like others we had tried. It was sweet and delicious without being overpowering. The cake itself was absolutely perfect and soft. We chose a white cake with some texture based off a picture I had seen and Laura was able to recreate it and it was literally exactly what we imagined. Working with Laura was so easy and she made the process fun. Highly recommend!! -

Beautifully Delicious
Laura was wonderful to work with. My husband and I (so excited to be able to say that phrase now!) interviewed a few cake companies prior to selecting Pip n Bits, and were not impressed with them. We were looking not only amazing flavors and beautiful design, but most importantly we wanted to work with someone who had that IT factor. Well needless to say Laura has it! She was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is thoughtful, professional, and not to mention extremely talented.
Laura has an amazing eye for designing the overall look of the cake. Best of all, her cake, fillings, and frosting flavors are incredibly delicious! I'm not a huge chocolate person, but Laura's chocolate cake is beyond words. Much to our surprise we ended up selecting two of her cake flavors because we couldn't just pick one! The chocolate cake with pecan bourbon and cream cheese frosting, and the almond cake with salted honey vanilla buttercream frosting.... just thinking about it makes me want to order another cake!
I can't express how happy we are with going with Pip n Bits. Guests are still telling us how much they loved the cake! Hire Laura! You won't regret it. -

I loved working with Laura from Pip 'N Bits. I'm a wedding planner and worked with her on a client's wedding and her wedding cake design was EXACTLY what the bride was hoping for (and more!). The cake was both beautiful and delicious. Working with Laura was very easy and she's so sweet and enthusiastic. We knew from our first communication she was the one. She was also accommodating and quick to respond. Plus, her designs are gorgeous. Laura was absolutely perfect for our wedding. We knew we had to do cupcakes after loving all of the cakes we tried during out tasting. The cupcakes were moist without being dense, the flavor profiles were on point and our guests are still talking about them. I think my favorite part of the whole process was the secret cake Laura whipped up for my husband. He was really bummed out that carrot cake wasn't chosen as a cupcake flavor. So I suggested a secret groom's cake and Laura totally delivered. My husband loved the surprise. The impromptu private moment we had to cut the cake together was an unexpected memory we made on such a hectic day. I would highly recommend Laura for your wedding or event. -

Could not say more positive things about Laura D'abate. Out of all the vendors I have, Laura was the easiest to work with and the most responsive.
I found her on weddingwire and she responsed to my inquiry quickly. We then scheduled an appointment for the tasting and Laura was willing to deliver the cakes to me. My husband and I previously did a cake tasting with another vendor and was really disappointed with the whole experience. I was expecting this tasting to be exactly the same and boy was I wrong. Not only were the portions much bigger, I can taste each cake and filling flavor. Everything were so delicious that my husband was fighting with his sister the next day to finish the remaining slices.
Because my husband is the one with the sweet tooth in this relationship, we requested 3 tier cake, a groom cake and 20 cupcakes. We wanted each tier to be in a different flavor with one of the flavors being lavender and the groom cake to have candy bacon in it. We asked for a 2nd tasting with those cake flavors and once again, she didn't disappoint even with such a strange request.
On the day of the wedding, all the cakes were as delicious as it looks, decorate with sercet garden roses and gold. By the end of the night, there wasn't enough cakes for everyone. My emcee was praising the red velvet and he was trying to convince the maitre'd to try a piece.
Laura is a lovely person to work with and everything she makes are unforgettable. I can't wait for my husband birthday to come around this year so we can order the bacon cake again. Thank you so much for making my night so memorable. I wish you and your business a continuous prosperity and good fortune. -

Amazing personal touch
The wedding cake was gorgeous and perfect considering that I ordered the cake a week before the wedding. We were so lucky that Laura was available the day of our wedding. We ordered 3 tier cake with the bottom as vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and vanilla Italian meringue buttercream and the rest of the cake as chocolate with Italian espresso meringue filling.
Although I have not met Laura in person but I really felt her personal touch as she asked specific details with regards to our theme, who the florist was so she could coordinate the flowers on our wedding cakeThe reason why I placed so much trust on her and she delivered.

Beautiful & Delicious!
Hubby and I absolutely LOVED the cake!!! For our wedding we of course wanted the cake to look beautiful but wowww did it taste delicious too! My guest took multiple slices to eat and then some to take home. I received so many compliments on the cake. It tasted sooo fresh. Laura is so great to work with. Not only is she sweet, but she really works hard to make sure the cake is exactly what you want. She is accommodating with time and very great when it comes to communication. The price for our cake was extremely reasonable. She does not try to dig a hole in your pocket. Laura has such a great mind and imagination when it comes to different flavors and types of designs. My husband and I wanted something clean and simple to fit our intimate wedding, but was not sure on decoration. I trusted Laura to design the cake & do what she thought would look best for our vision. She nailed it!!! It fit the vibe, the venue, &the flowers on the cake, also perfect! Thank you Laura!! I will definitely recommend Pip n Bits for future events. -

She was prompt responding to our requests and questions, and met with us for over an hour to understand our tastes, ideas, and expectations for our wedding cake. Her tasting was just a blast, and she was kind enough to come to our apartment to accommodate our schedules. She graciously deducted the tasting fee from the cake total after booking, and she even ended up making a custom peanut butter and jelly filling for our wedding cake. The cake more than met our expectations, and our guests still comment on how moist and flavorful it was. It was such a showpiece at our wedding reception. We were so proud to show it off. She even has vegan options, and the dozen lemon vegan cupcakes that she made to match our cake's decoration were just as good as the cake. Our vegan guests were so happy to have a vegan dessert that tasted so good. She was professional and so pleasant to work with. Laura also provided much-needed, real-world feedback about our initial ideas, and made some great, tasteful suggestions that enhanced our vision and outcome for the cake.

In all the steps of designing the cake, Laura was very responsive and very helpful everytime we had a question
Delivery was seamless!
When I saw the cake in person -- I was amazed at how beautiful it turned out -- it was was just stunning.
Every guest was pleased with how the cake tasted -- including a guest who was an executive chef -- saying it was the best wedding cake he had.
You will definitely not be disappointed if you choose Laura for your wedding cake! :) -

The cake was incredible, all of our guests commented on how delicious it was and many asked for seconds. Outside of it being delicious, the cake itself was beautiful - I wanted something simple but unique and without giving Laura much direction she created the most gorgeous cake. It was better than I could have even imagined and made our wedding day so special. Laura was so easy to work with, the in home tasting was so much fun, and made the tasting much more personal, it felt like we really got to know and trust in Laura. Delivery was so easy and flawless on the day of the wedding, I am SO happy we chose Pip N Bits. I can't wait to place my next order with Pip N Bits for future events!

Laura was an absolute pleasure to work with and came over to our apartment for a tasting of 4 different mini cakes. They were all so incredible that choosing which one to go with was definitely hardest wedding decision we made :-).
The design of the cake was exactly what we envisioned and all of our guests were raving about how delicious it was. I can't wait for our first anniversary so we can eat the top tier that's in our freezer! To anyone who has not chosen a cake vendor yet, cross this off your list and go with Pip n Bits!!! -

Adam Sent on 12/13/2017Laura, of Pip n Bits, went above and beyond to make the wedding cake of our dreams. She prepared a variety of personal sized cakes for us to try at the tasting, all of them flavor profiled to go along with our autumnal dinner menu. We decided to go with the cardamom spice cake with honey frosting. Our visual idea for the cake was an abstract version of a tree for our wooden lovebird cake toppers. She presented us with a simple yet elegant take on the idea with a naked cake incorporating some of the fresh greens and florals we were using in our center pieces, and of course the toppers. The cake was STUNNING! Not only that but it was so DELICIOUS! Everyone at the wedding raved about it afterwards. She delivered the three tier cake to the venue prior to the wedding and made sure everything was perfect for our big day. Throughout the process Laura was professional, enthusiastic, and a real joy to work with. We can't thank her enough for her contribution to a magical evening!

Beyond being incredibly accommodating with our vision, timing, and price, she also surprised us. We were certain we wanted a vanilla funfetti cake with chocolate icing, and after asking for our favorite flavors before our tasting, we ended up with a chocolate cake with mocha frosting on the inside and vanilla on the outside that I never could have imagined or expected, but that was literally perfect and so us. People who don't eat cake or like sugar had two pieces at our wedding—and we spent the week after our wedding eating leftover cake for every meal. She's ruined cake for us in the best way possible. If you don't book her, you're insane. Stop reading this and email her now.

My husband and I were looking to have someone create a simple, yet beautiful wedding cake and I wanted to surprise him with a cake in the likeness of our french bulldog. Laura was amazing to work with. After emailing about different types of samples we might like to try, she care to our apartment where we had our cake tasting. Each was amazing and almost too beautiful to eat, but we narrowed it down to her cardamom spice cake with honey lavender frosting, which was perfect for a fall wedding, and the chocolate cake with fresh strawberries for the frenchie cake. We also ordered chocolate chip cookies for or guests to nibble on.
Laura and I emailed back and forth about ideas and I truly felt like she knew exactly what we wanted. Since we didn’t have a florist, she offered to pick up fresh flowers to put on our cake, which was so kind and saved me having one more thing to complete on my to-do list. Both cakes turned out AMAZINGLY beautiful-our guests could not stop raving about them! Not only did they look beautiful, but they were hands-down the best cake I have ever had. No joke. Same for the cookies. She makes them soft and adds a hint of sea salt. My only regret is that I didn’t order more!
I would highly recommend Pip n Bits for any event! We will definitely reach back out to Laura in the future! -

I don't think I can really explain how incredible Laura's cakes are!! I am a baker and have a huge sweet tooth, so the cake for our wedding was really important to me. We tried samples from 4 bakers in total, and NOTHING compared to Laura's cakes! If you want amazing, moist, flavorful cakes, and not just mouthfuls of sugar, you gotta go with Pip & Bits. They were all so good, we couldn't pick just one cake! So we had a two tier cake with two flavor combos (chocolate with ganache and peanut butter frosting and vanilla with raspberry jam and speculoos frosting), and two different flavors of cake pops (cardamom cake with espresso frosting and lemon cake with jam and lemon/salted honey frosting)! The cake pops disappeared so fast, they were such a fan favorite, I don't even have a picture of them yet! The cake itself looked beautiful, exactly what I wanted, and our guests are still talking about what flavor they got to try and how good it was. Laura was also so sweet to work with, and really open to making changes and customizations, so that we had exactly what we wanted! I only wish we could have had more! I see a first anniversary order from Laura in our future... -

Yummy and beautiful! We had an unusual design and she rolled with it and executed it perfectly. Every flavor we tasted was delicious, and the cake itself was excellent and just gorgeous. Easy to work with as well. Definitely recommend!
