Pigs Eatin' Ribs was the BEST decision I made about my wedding! The food was phenomenal! One week after our wedding and friends and family are still raving about the fabulous food! I wanted a casual dinner, so BBQ seemed to fit really well! The Mac and cheese is OUT OF THIS WORLD! We had 2 servers, and they were flexible with dinner times and worked well together. We had a buffet, and they also kept everything stocked well. The server also cut our cake for our guests at no extra charge! I HIGHLY recommend Pigs Eatin' Ribs!

All of our guests really enjoyed the food at our wedding. They said, it was nothing like they have had at any other weddings they've been to. They had an interesting variety. They even provided a bartender and someone to cut and serve the cake. We highly recommend Pigs Eatin Ribs.

We used Pigs Eatin' Ribs to cater our wedding welcome/rehearsal dinner at Depot Beach Pavilion. They brought the food truck to us and served up an absolutely delicious spread! People told us they liked the novelty of the food truck and we had numerous people tell us how much they enjoyed the food! The service was fast and friendly as well.
Booking the vendor went smoothly. They clearly answered any questions we had in a timely manner (few days at the most). They were pretty laid back and easily accommodated our requests for vegetarian meals, etc. They have done this enough that nothing seems to phase them! When we did the tasting, even the vegetarian option (black bean tacos) was incredibly tasty! The die hard meat-eaters in the group even noted they enjoyed it!
I had originally thought the name and type of food were a little too casual and plain for a wedding, but I'm so glad we looked into them further! The food is top notch and delicious! We will be making a pit stop there any time we are up that way! If you are in the area (regardless of whether you are looking for a caterer), do yourself a favor and stop by!!

We used Pigs Eatin Ribs for our wedding reception dinner. We did not use a food truck, but had a buffet dinner and had them provide two servers for about 90 guests total. Their food was awesome! They have lots of different combinations to choose from. They boxed up leftovers for us and everything was ready on time. Amount of food seemed perfect. We paid the fuel surcharge as our wedding location was about a 2 hour drive for them, but that did not cause any issues.

I will say that their communication as I was setting up a contract was not very good. I had to email them back multiple times before I got a response whenever I had a question. So I had my concerns leading up to the wedding. However, on the day of the event everything was perfect and everyone really loved the food!! Value was also excellent.

I did not have a good experience with this vendor that I had planned to book as a caterer for my wedding in August 2017. The catering staff mislead me about being able to deliver on requests for my wedding reception menu items that I had made for my catering order that I was told could be done by a male staff member. There were two females working in the catering department that were calling me with a nasty attitude on my cell phone days later and were rushing me for a menu payment prior to the set time we agreed upon in addition to revealing to me at that time that my menu order that I requested could not be fulfilled as expected on my wedding day. I was extremely irritated. I feel that the catering staff here needs to be able to handle customers professionally and learn how to deal with brides and their families as well at a time that is both extremely special, time consuming and stressful all at the same time. The staff here seemed greedy for money in my opinion and also inexperienced on what they could and could not do. Although I did loose a little bit of money investing in their services - luckily, my wedding planner was able to find another caterer that could accommodate my husband and I on short notice with menu item requests since I had a smaller wedding party. Thankfully the other catering company we used was familiar with the area, highly professional, patient, friendly and received compliments from my guests for great service. I was so glad my guests did not notice any flaws with the food or reception flow. The other caterer also had a sole communicator working with us for details and arrangements with catering for our reception instead of having 3 different people contacting me who seemed confused and then making unfair changes that I was not expecting.

Pigs Eatin' Ribs catered our outdoor wedding in Bellaire, MI in July 2017. We were really excited to have them cater our wedding they had good reviews and did a good job communicating with us before the wedding. However, we ended up being really disappointed in their service for our wedding. There were several things that we had agreed upon with Matt, including explicitly stated in our contract, that did not happen as agreed upon:
    • Platters and Servingware: They didn’t come with servingware for a family style dinner, it was in the contract, and asked the grooms mom for it an hour before the wedding. Salads were supposed to be individually plated instead they used platters which led to a shortage for the main course.
    • Speed of Service: Serivce was really slow over, over an hour for the parents of the bride/groom to get served (partially because of the platter issues) and with no organization (some tables got seconds before others got firsts).
    • Food Quality: The food overall tasted good (pulled pork, chicken, mac n cheese, and veggies) but was mostly served cold and pears on the salad were brown.
    • Food Quantity: We ran out of food before everyone had eaten and this is considering we paid the upcharge for a family style meal. This was in part due to the disorganization of serving and in part due to just being short.
    • Details: Didn’t do the agreed upon napkin fold, didn’t move the truck out of picture view when asked.

They were the most expensive part of our wedding and the only part that we had anything negative to say about. There were just so many things that didn’t go well. We brought up these issues with the organization after our wedding they didn’t acknowledge our concerns and told us management would follow up with us, that never happened. A word of caution if considering Pigs Eatin Ribs for an outdoor wedding.

I feel that the catering services for this business has lots of room for improvement especially as it relates to catering for weddings. From my experience catering staff did not hold up to their expectation when agreeing to deliver on catering selections I selected for my wedding in August. In addition, we planned to make final catering arrangements at a certain time and they were rushing me and changed the time limit. Two female catering staff members were not patient with me over the phone which they should be highly trained in when dealing with a bride at such an important time preparing for her wedding -really it's just common sense. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth and negative feelings that I could not tolerate to continue business with them for my wedding and have it ruined for me. I already had enough going on with rehearsals, plans, etc.

Fortunately, I was able to do business with another catering service nearby my venue that accommodated me on short notice -2 days notice!!. My wedding reception turned out wonderful and surprisingly my guests enjoyed all of the food from this other catering service.

Was so excited about using this food truck for our rehearsal dinner. Booked them several months in advance and had several discussions about which food truck would be used etc. A fuel surcharge of $150 was included which seemed reasonable for the food truck, grill trailer, and server vehicle. The day of the event the server pulled up in a Saturn Vue with precooked ribs, slimy chicken and the other items on our menu with sterno and racks. No food truck, no freshly grilled meats. The food was mediocre and not enough for our group! Our guests ate, but we did not. We had a half pan of beans leftover and that's it. So disappointed as we talked up this company to all of our guests before the event. Embarrassing to say the least. We called and left a message with the the owners wife about our displeasure. No return phone call. The only response was our check being cashed first thing in the morning after the holiday weekend.

I really wanted to like Pigs Eatin' Ribs, which unfortunately made me dismiss a couple of red flags leading up to the wedding, but based on my rating it's pretty clear I was unhappy with this company. If you choose to use them, you should be aware of the following things.

    1. You will have to handhold management throughout the entire process. Our emails would often not be responded to, and there was a very clear lack of communication between the different people managing the email account.
    2. Seriously though - you need to handhold them. After going through a food tasting with the owner several months before the wedding, we let him know we would like to add appetizers to the menu. The next day we exchanged a couple emails to discuss pricing and then we let him know we wanted to add a cheese platter and a fruit platter to our contract. A week before the wedding we sent an email to confirm some items including the apps, and we received a bill which included them. Come the day of the wedding, they claim they didn't know appetizers were part of our menu. Their last-minute fix was to put enough fruit and cheese for about 10 people on two disposable metal baking trays, and still charge us $100 for it (we were originally billed $400 for the apps).
    4. Don't trust what's in the contract. There were multiple items that I questioned and the response was that it was a generic contract and the things I brought up didn't apply to food truck caterings, which I don't really buy since there were other items in the contract that were specific to food truck catering.
    5. Don't expect any service for food truck events beyond someone handing guests their food. There was only one server for my 80 guests, so the server never left the truck until after everyone had been through the line. Even though the contract stated the server was supposed to clear the baskets, there was a sign at the truck telling the guests to bring their trays back to the truck.

Would NOT trust this place for catering. Was planning to use them as a caterer for our wedding and decided not to after our experience. Just read their other negative reviews, it shows a consistent theme. Went to their location for a food tasting and was seriously disappointed. Upon arrival, we did not get to taste all of the food on our list. Never once were we told that these items would not be provided at the tasting, even though they knew ahead of time we couldn’t taste a majority of the items. More than half of the items we came to taste were not served. We drove over 3 hours to this location, this was a serious disappointment. To top it all off, we were told AFTER WE TASTED THE FOOD it would cost $100...... for 4 sides and two servings of meat. The only reason we paid was because we were told this would be deducted from our invoice if we chose them and we felt pressured that we had to pay. Then 4 weeks later we finally get a contract and see multiple fees that were never mentioned. We asked for a refund based on the lack of transparency, and shady way in which we were asked to pay for the tasting. We asked three times with no response whether a refund would be processed or not. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! Food we tried was pretty good though, just wish they cared more about their customers and did business in an honest way.
