Philip Kent Studios worked with my fiance and myself prior to the wedding to ensure that we would get the shots we wanted from before the wedding, during the wedding and at the reception. Philip Kent Studio does some amazing work with color and balck and white photographs. Philip Kent Studios also offered photograph viewing online as well as printed copies prior to ordering our final album. Philip was a pleasure to do business with and was very professional during our event.

If you are getting married in the Washington DC area, you should look into this photographer. Not only is he professional with decades of experience but his quality is far superior to others we looked at prior to our decision. Also, if you're shopping prices, save some time because Philip Kent's package price beats any in town!

Philip Kent is excellent! Not only is he truly gifted as an exceptional photographer, but he is so personable and genuinely engaged in the planning of your special event that he almiost seems like a member of the family. In a very private and professional office setting, he easily explains the range of services available from the actual logistics of the event and video options, to the types of albums and creative styles available. His experience is essential for covering the details you never thought of before you stepped into his studio. And once the planning is set, he reassures you with phone calls and time frames that everything is "in motion" and "on track" as scheduled. Philip Kent is totally reliable and his work is exquisite. You can relax...he will be there when you get there...he's got you covered! He has been and will forever be our personal Family Phtographer. When you have the Best, you don't need the rest.

We just got our pictures back about three weeks after the wedding and they have turned out wonderful! Philip Kent already had a wedding scheduled for our day so a photographer he works with, Larry, had taken the pictures. I choosed Philip Kent because I knew him and his partners were familiar with our venue. Larry was not intrusive at all. He took pictures that we didnt even know he took. Did we get 500 pictures? No. Honestly though it would be a bit overwhelming if we were to get 500 pictures to go through and pick which ones we wanted. I rather have 300 really good pictures then 500+ medicore pictures. The only small itsy bitsy complaint had nothing to do with the quality of work. In the contract it said we would provide food for the photographer which was no problem. We encouraged Larry plenty of times to take a break and eat something since he was running around so much and he said he usually doesnt eat at weddings. So unfortuantly we lost the money that went towards his food. Again, it didnt take from the quality of work and maybe we got wonderful pictures we wouldnt have gotten if he had eaten lol.

The primary reason that we chose Phillip Kent was that his studio is one of the few that provides actual photos to review and choose from rather than DVD only. He also provided the choice of on-line ordering for our guests. The photos were great - so many to choose from - and the quality was super.
Our meetings prior to the wedding and after were professional and all of our questions were answered to our satisfaction.
The photographer was great - from pre-wedding at the hotel and chapel, to the ceremony, pre-reception (he knew the right places in DC to get the great photos, and through the reception. He seemed to get pictures of all of the guests in the many photos that he took.
The final albums - wedding and parents' - will be cherished for many years to come. We had the choice of using the photos or digitized pages and chose the traditional photo option. The final product exceed our expectations.
We have already recommended Mr. Kent to some of our friends who will be married in the near future.

Hiring Philip Kent was by far one of the best decisions we made when considering vendors for our Oct 16, 2010 wedding! He has an unparalleled talent for finding perfection in every shot, and helped us create an album of memories that is an incredible keepsake we will enjoy for a lifetime. I was amazed at how unobtrusive Philip managed to be the day of our wedding while still always appearing in the right spot at the right moment to catch all the love and excitement of our wedding. The album we selected honestly looks like a celebrity wedding was photographed! Philip's photos tell a story that defy words and capture raw emotion.
Philip Kent is a true professional. He is upbeat, approachable and most importantly utterly confident in his craft. It was a pleasure to work with him.

Philip Kent Photography is the best! Joanna, my photographer at the wedding was so sweet and professional. A couple hours before your wedding can be a very stressful time for a bride and when she arrived she was so personable and nice that it made it easy. It started raining right as the ceremony began and it was outside, she assured me that the pictures would still be good and she was right. They turned out amazing!! Pictures and memories are all you have once the day is over and I am so lucky to have such wonderful photographs and a beautiful album. Philip was great as well. He was so flexible with my schedule and great to work with!
My oldest sister used Philip Kent back in the early nineties for her wedding and he did an amazing job then so I had no doubts. That was the essiest decision I had in my wedding planning.
I hope he's still around when my daugther (8 months old) gets married because she will be using him too :) Thank you Philip!

We had a VERY good experience with Philip Kent as the photographer for our wedding on 9/25/10. The entire experience went very smoothly. He has an easy-going style that made both of us comfortable. He was not demanding about the shots that he wanted to take or the number of photos. He was willing to tailor the shots to our desires. He was extremely flexible on the night of the wedding. Anytime that we asked him to come take a certain shot, he was there in a flash and didn't insist that we take the shot a certain way. We've been to weddings where the photographer wants to take center stage. This is not the case with Philip. He was in the background taking amazing shots. The reason we know the shots are so good is that he turned around our pictures in less than 5 days! We already have the 5x7's in our possession deciding which ones we want for our album (having the actual 5x7s is also a MAJOR plus of using Philip's service). Overall, we have ZERO complaints and nothing but good things to say about Philip and the quality of his work.

My husband and I thought he did a fabulous job with the pictures. They came out wonderful and were ready to review very quickly. He took so many wonderful pictures that i was overwhelmed, so he kindly made time in his day so sit down with me and go through all of my pics and create a wonderful photo album, with wonderful memories!

I would highly recommend Philip Kent to anyone looking for a photographer for your wedding. He is extremely flexible, very easy to work with, and has such great prices for his packages. He arrived early on the wedding day and just had an eye to capture the most beautiful pictures!!! When I recieved the pictures, I was so immpressed with the results. While I knew they would be beautiful pictures, he had captured the most amazing shots!!! It was very hard to narrow the pictures down for the album because they all turned out so wonderful.

No bride needs any stress on her wedding day and Philip made everything so wonderful with his pictures(He even stepped in and helped us when we couldnt put on the boutineares) If you are looking for a photographer for your wedding, I highly recommend Philip Kent.

We could not be happier with Philip Kent Studios! We hired Philip Kent; Master Photographer to photograph our wedding. He was very professional and easy to work with. I did not give him specific requests to photograph, we just let him capture the memory of the day. He knew exactly where to catch the best light and best photos at our venue (Bristow Manor).
It was a beautiful day, and the pictures really really captured the events of the day.

Phillip Kent is talented, flexible, affordable and so nice! Very hard to find all of those qualities in a photographer!

*Pictures were the most important thing to me on my wedding day. I had a strict budget, and I had the hardest time finding a photographer that was affordable and professional. A friend recommended Phillip Kent to me and I was very impressed with her pictures. I contacted Philip Kent and he got back to me very quickly. I used his videographer too! He was very informative and responsive up until the wedding. On the wedding day he was so polite to my fiance and I and to all of our guests. (I have been to weddings where the photographer was demanding and obnoxious) I was very picky with the pictures I wanted of my family and he listened to me and got all of the shots that I wanted! If I had it to do all over again, I would not use anyone else to take my wedding pictures. I HIGHLY recommend Phillip Kent. He is talented and a nice person to work with!

Mr. Kent is very accomodating. We have lots of different people to arrange pictures for and he has been patient and helpful. He is helping us try to get the photos the way we want them, willing to work with us on special cropping and other photo adjustments. He took lots and lots of pictures so we have many to choose from.

Philip K. was absolutely amazing. He was very accommodating considering the unique details of our wedding, easy to work with, and he took some amazing shots of our bridal party and guests at the Briar Patch. He was meticulous with details to ensure the moments he captured created a beautiful vision, i.e., the way a tree branch hung overhead, chasing the carriage up and down the hill, the way my dad and I shared a loving moment before walking down the aisle, the joy my husband and I felt as we were finally becoming man and wife. Those moments are irreplaceable. He was even able to capture the butterflies we released and the bridesmaids using sparklers to spell LOVE. The quality of his work will allow us to recapture those moments many times over even after we become old and wrinkled.

His professionalism and experience were very apparent with the effort and ease of his photography. His rates are very reasonable. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a professional photographer.

Because our wedding was on July4, it was often hard to find vendors willing to work that evening. Philip Kent offered to shoot our wedding himself when his staff had family obligations. He was fantastic. He was unobtrusive- I never even noticed he was around during the ceremony and reception. He was accommodating and patient- especially when, after the sun had set and dinner had finished, the groom's family decided they wanted a LARGE group shot taken right then. One of the best photos I have was his idea- when he heard the B/G would exit the evening through a gauntlet of fireworks, he took a few bridesmaids aside and had them spell out LOVE with some sparklers. It became the main event. The entire reception emptied out and cheered on the bridesmaids until they had a good exposure!

We initially met Philip Kent at the bridal showcase at the Dulles Expo Center and later at the bridal showcase at the Springfield Waterford. As Mother of the bride I liked his professional appearance (a tux if I remember correctly). My daughter, the bride-to-be, liked that he gave you all of the photos in a 5 x 7 format from which to choose. Other photographers we met only posted the photos online, rather than give you real photos (not proofs). We also have the option to purchase the CD of all the photographs taken, which was important to me.

Philip was not personally available for our event, but his partner Brian did the wedding and we are very pleased with the quality and quantity of the photos. We had an unexpected situation with scaffolding in the church, but Brian was able to work around it very well. In the photos that did show the scaffolding, Philip is going to digitally remove it for us.

Philip and Brian are very accommodating, professional, and reliable. This was a good pick! We wholeheartedly recommend Philip Kent for your special event.

Philip is definitely a talented photographer with an eye for taking great shots. He flew up from Washington, D.C. for the event and was able to navigate the streets of Boston without difficulty (we had photos in 3 different locations). He is a more traditional style-photographer but also took some very nice candid shots, and we were very pleased with his work, which was priced much lower than others. I would highly recommend him!

Philip Kent was outstanding. He was challenged by our choice of location (the Odyssey cruise ship during a sunset wedding and evening cruise) but the pictures came out beautifully. He captured the moments that we didn't even see and saw opportunities for beautiful pictures throughout the evening. Many photographers get in the way or become overbearing, but we barely knew he was there. He was very professional and enjoyable to work with both during the ceremony and afterwards!!

Phil is an experienced, seasoned photographer. We appreciated his guidance through our timeline. He was organized, knew our venue, (Meadowlark Botanical Gardens) and helped to keep us on schedule. The photographic results were artistic, romantic, and captured the joy of the day. We would highly recommend this Master Photographer. The final results more than exceeded our expectations at a very reasonable cost. Book early, as his schedule fills up quickly.

Philip Kent beautifully photographed our wedding. He was quick to respond to e-mails and touched base with me the week before the wedding to review the timeline. He was also very prompt on our wedding day and kept everyone moving along so all the necessary photos could be taken.

One of the leading reasons we chose Philip Kent for our wedding photography services was the flush-mount wedding albums offered with his package. Our wedding album is absolutely stunning and will remain a treasured item for years to come.

We are a northern Virginia couple that held the wedding in Norfolk. Brian was willing to drive down to accomodate our out of town request. We had a lot of great pictures that we didn't even see him take! He's quick with the family photos (in a well-structured way), and takes his time with the couple to produce all of the photos you can think of. The one suggestion I would make to the company is to make meetings mandatory prior to the wedding. We met with Brian but it was done as a courtesy. It certainly eased my mind (Bride) to speak with Brian prior to the wedding and find that he understood my wishes for specific types of pictures that I would be picky about.
One major difference I noticed among my friends is that our pictures were ready a LOT sooner. We received the printed photos the week after our wedding and had the digital album ready to review a couple of weeks after we made our final decision. Philip worked with a company we chose to create the album and handled all of the work associated with it so we could have our album only three months after the wedding. I would recommend Philip Kent Studios for other brides.

We used Philip Kent as our photographer for our Oct. 8 wedding at Bristow Manor Golf Club (note: great venue!) and would highly recommend Philip to others. Hands down, he is a very experienced photographer and will provide excellent photographs of your wedding. You pay for what you get, so if you’re willing to spend a couple thousand dollars, you can be sure you will have excellent pictures to remind you of your special day. Philip was very flexible to our requests and responsive to our emails, which we very much appreciated. He also photo-shopped some pictures for us, making the portraits look even better (enhanced colors, no telephone wires, etc). We are very happy with the pictures we received from Philip and would use him again if we could go back and do it all again.

We used Ron Walters for our videographer (works with Philip Kent as the videographer), and would not/not recommend him to others. While he was a nice guy and did an okay job putting the wedding video together, there were two major issues that we felt centered on some of the most important aspects of the wedding:

First, when Ron videoed the first dances (bride/groom, father/daughter, and mother/son—all which we had taken dance lessons and choreographed), he did a lot of zooming in on one person, and then the other person. While it’s nice to see the emotions on one’s face, if you’re zoomed in a lot, then you lose the effect of seeing the synchronized dance of two people and overall feeling of the dance. A professional videographer should have been aware of that, especially for the price we paid to have a professional videographer capture important moments like the first dances.

Second, Ron did a poor job of collecting guest interviews. I had spoken in advance with Ron and let him know the “video interviews” of the guests was very important to me… this is where during the reception he gives guests the opportunity to say a couple of best wishes to the bride/groom on video. Out of the eight tables that we had, he only interviewed three tables. When I asked about this, Philip replied that Ron had gone to every table, but the guests had declined to comment… but friends/family said they were not/not asked about the interviews and would have liked to say a few words, had they had the opportunity (including my siblings, aunts/uncles, our minister, etc). It is our opinion that Ron was not as proactive as he should have been about getting guest interviews, especially when I had stated in advance that this was something important to me. For the price you pay for a professional video (over $1000!), we expected better service. We would not recommend Ron as a wedding videographer.

We had Larry, Philip's assistant. Overall, the pictures were good. Although the prices are lower than other photographers, you don't get a whole lot for the price - basically the cost of the labor and an album with 28 photos in it, which is not many photos at all. I would have liked to see the DVD of all the pics included in the price. I wanted a mix of tradition pics and photojournalism. Really the only photojournalism pics I got were ones that I specifically requested. If you are looking for photojournalism, I would not recommend him. He is very professional and easy to deal with. He stuck to his contract.

We looked around and thought we were getting a great deal, however our pictures were just ok, and we ended up paying a lot more in the end for a decent looking album cover and for the cd of our wedding. We also had him do our video which turned out just ok too. We were less than impressed with him overall.

Philip Kent provided a good price for the services rendered. We didn't use him for digital photography because his prices weren't competitive, but overall I'm happy with the pictures. I would have like to have seem him give you the proofs and not hold on to the negatives (why print proofs to just throw them out?). He is hard to feel close to and missed a few pictures I asked him to take, but when its all said and done we were very happy with the result.

The video was good too, it woudl have been nice to have seen the cocktail hour. The videographer must have been on vacation b/c he wasn't with the bridal party! Also, the video could have been less cut and dry. Quality was great.

Philip Kent was not my photographer for my wedding, his other co worker was. I was so disgusted with my pictures, I started crying. Not only did he miss one of my bridesmaids walking down the aisle, the only picture i really wanted (when my husband sees me for the first time coming down the aisle) was out of focus. He had absolutely no creativity, my pictures look like they came from the 50's, so cut and dry. We were a young couple and the pictures look so stiff. They did nothing to make our pictures more modern like they show on their website. They even offer a free engagement portrait, which is very misleading the way they deliver it to the customer. I would NEVER recommend their services to anyone. My wedding was Oct 25th 2008, and I am still upset with what they did. I wish I could do my wedding all over again just so I could have better pictures, in fact i am to embarassed to show them to anyone, so it was a huge waste of money. I only went to them because a family friend highly recommended Philip, and when i looked at his partners work i was impressed. I should have shopped around, i could have gotten so much more bang for my buck. Plus we also did the videography...waste. The kids in the im a pc commercial could do a better job. The sound was off, the transitions are horrible, and it was like the videographer himself didnt want to be at the wedding. Sorry for the rant, but i dont want anyone getting ripped off the way I was... DO NOT USE THEM!!

What can I say other than we are totally disappointed. Total shots taken was 270. Of those photos, most were blurry, or the lighting was incorrect. Also did not take some of the photos we had asked to have taken (and written down previously so that they would not be forgotten). Now we have no candids of our mother and father; none of our son nor do we have any of us leaving the church. I cried. What else is there to do? There is only one chance with a photographer and we are so disappointed in our choice. Thank goodness others took pictures and we were able to get some of their shots.
