I'm a stationery designer and I've been using Peterson Design & Photography for a few years now. Marisa is the only photographer I would trust with my work! She understands how to capture all the important details - the colors, the texture of the letterpress, and her pairings of florals and decorative elements are always so spot on! She really takes the time to understand my vision, and is extremely responsive with any questions she or I might have. I know I am always in great hands with Marisa! -

I am a wedding stationery designer and I hired Marisa to photograph my invitations suite that I design. I can't even express how grateful I am to her and her amazing work. She has taken my business up a level, allowing me to have incredible photos of my suites for my clients to see, my own marketing, and my website. It was so challenging to try to photograph invites myself, and my fingers were always crossed that I'd get good photos from photographers AT the wedding. But Marisa has taken this part of my business completely of my hands and I could NOT be happier with the output. I am a Calligrapher and Designer and hired Peterson Design to create flat lays and a few short videos for my Portfolio. Everything came out stunning! The composition, lighting, props used for the shoot, everything was spot on and really made my work shine. I am so happy I took the leap to get professional photos made because it takes my work to the next level and have already received so much positive feedback. Also, the whole process was so organized and easy to fill out forms, payments, and receive files. I will definitely be coming back to use their services again. -

Marisa and Tim are the sweetest people you can imagine. Back in 2019 we began planning our wedding, so you can imagine that it took awhile for it to happen. They rolled with changes from 2020, to 2021, to 2022 and then after my wife and I got COVID the day before our wedding, to later in 2022!
They were supportive and accommodating through what was one of the most tumultuous periods in our lives. They made us comfortable, they helped us get ready on the day of the wedding, they are infinitely giving and we will always be thankful for everything they did for us.
Now, onto the photos! They're perfect! They're colorful and playful and everything we were looking for. We didn't just want conventional wedding photos, though we did get a number of classic ones that look great and made our parents very happy, we wanted something that felt like us. They also documented everything, from my custom pocket square to my wife's earrings to the invites, to the menus. Over two months later we're still going through the photos and getting enjoyment from them.
We are so lucky to have worked with Marisa and Tim. They were a huge part of the best day of our lives and we're so grateful for them. -

The most perfect flat lay photography!
After Marisa reached out to introduce herself, I quickly looked over her flat lay photography and immediately knew I had to hire her. It just so happened I was in the market to have some of my recent wedding stationery photographed and I'm SO incredibly happy Marisa found me. My client's invitation suites were not only perfectly styled, but Marisa also takes the time to photograph the little details that make each suite unique. I now have cohesive photographs I can proudly display on my website and social media outlets. I will hire Marisa over and over again and it's so nice knowing I don't have to worry about styling/photographing on my own and can now use the time I would have used to style on my own to design and serve my clients well. Great work, great to work with!
Marisa and Tim are INCREDIBLE! I wanted a colorful wedding and I wanted our photos to look like our day - fun, goofy, colorful, vibrant, full of love and joy - and they absolutely nailed it. A bunch of sepia-toned photos of us gazing into each other eyes with serious faces would have felt extremely fake - no shade to sepia or staring into each others eyes, I think those photos are beautiful (and we did get a couple beautiful serious ones and some black & white ones I love), but the look doesn't feel like us. I feel so seen by our photographers! Their customer service was also top notch - lots of communication and some above-and-beyond special touches that were incredibly thoughtful. You hear so many horror stories of trying to hunt down or communicate with wedding vendors, and there was none of that here. The Petersons are a shining example of great work and great to work with. I highly recommend them if you want beautiful, fun, vibrant photos and a really nice experience! -

It is such a pleasure to work with Peterson Photography! I'm a stationery designer/calligrapher and use Peterson's services for flatlay photography. And Marisa always delivers! The flatlay galleries always have be swooning and excited to share. She truly loves photographing flatlays and it shows.

If you are getting married in SoCal, and it’s important to you to find a team of photographers that make you feel comfortable and make your love shine through the camera, look no further than Peterson Design Photography . Marissa and Tim are not only a great team, communicators and photographers, but they are also pretty awesome to talk to; before, during and after your event.
They took great care with our angles and personalities, they really made us shine with joy while taking photos, even when we are far from ideal models. Marissa had impeccable communication to make sure no detail is left to chance, and that was so reassuring to a type-a like me that had tons of checklists and picture inspiration. Being honest, we won a giveaway and didn’t do an economic investment for our elopement, but the value in all their work makes me confident in saying that they are worth it, that YOU and YOUR event are worth the investment, to get pictures that truly capture the real emotions of the day. The showboy wedding
We love Marisa and Tim! I mean, how can you not? They are so personable, and fun…it’s like having your friends photograph your big day! They bring such a fun energy to your photo shoot, and they knew our venue so well, that we got all the shots we wanted and then some! Not only did Marisa and Tim take the time to perfectly shoot our wedding day from start to finish, they were so kind to our family and guests, and got all the particulars of our photo list done without fuss! Getting married during the pandemic was tough, but these guys made it a breeze with re-scheduling and postponing. They gave us nothing but support, and advice on other vendors that would be a good fit for us. Since we couldn’t really do engagement photos because of the timing of everything shutting down, they used our Engagement Shoot (which was included in their package) to take photos of the wedding in advance! It was brilliant! We had our walk through and tasting at our venue prior to our wedding date, and Marisa and Tim joined us there, and got all of the photos we wanted around the venue so that on the big day we would have more time to enjoy the wedding! These guys are the real deal! We cannot recommend enough that you use them for all your wedding photo needs (don’t even get us started on the flat-lays of our wedding stationary - utter perfection), but also for guidance - they know what they are talking about! Thank you Peterson Design & Photography for being YOU! We will cherish the fun times shooting with you as much as the incredible photos we have to keep x -

We hired Marisa and Tim to photograph our wedding, and they included an engagement session so we could get to know each other and so they could help get us comfortable in front of the camera in advance of our big day (we aren't used to being photographed at all!) Their personalities are infectious and kept our energy up during the session — get ready for Tim's dad jokes and for stories about their dogs — and we couldn't be more overjoyed at the results. They capture so much light, love, and laugher, with an incredible eye for detail. We and our families will treasure these photos forever... we cannot wait for the wedding, and to have the Petersons in our lives for a good long time. Hiring a photographer for a huge life event is an investment, and the Petersons are so, so worth it. 10/10, cannot recommend highly enough. -

Amazing investment. Worth every penny!
From the beginning interest meeting email to the final gallery, we are SO HAPPY with Marisa and Tim as our wedding photographers. They were the best in understanding our 2 postponements and they really became close after almost 2 years of wedding planning.
Prior to wedding day, they helped us plan timeline and photo opportunities/locations to shoot. Wedding day, they were the best hype people to have around all day from getting ready / detail photos to night time shots. My husband and Tim bonded over planes, and Marisa kept the mood fun and energetic, even when we’ve were getting tired.
After the wedding day, we were given sneak peaks quickly and the gallery about a month after. The organization of the photos was amazing and it was so fun looking through each part of the day with my husband.
Overall, I definitely definitely recommend Peterson Design and Photography! And we will definitely be reaching out for our vow renewals, future family photos and more! 😁 -

Marisa and Tim were absolutely amazing! We had originally planned for them to photograph our micro wedding in December 2020. However, due to Covid protocols, that was not possible. Because of this, they were incredibly accommodating and we had a newlywed session in November 2021 at the LA Arboretum. Since it was our first photoshoot, my husband and I were nervous. Throughout the entire process, Marisa maintained communication, was super helpful with providing tips, and calmed our nerves! The photoshoot was so much fun! Marisa and Tim made us laugh the entire time, always keeping in mind the details that were important to us. If you’re looking for photographers who will partner with you while also creating beautiful photographs, we highly recommend them! -

Marisa and Tim are awesome HUMANS! On top of being awesome humans, they are also amazing photographers. I love to support family businesses and we were lucky enough to win an engagement shoot with them last March (this review is waaaaay past due!) From the moment we got to San Juan Capistrano Mission, LATE because I misread, they were quick to get us as much time as possible in the notable spots on the property. Then we took a short drive up the road to the open space and had some fun taking "picnic style" photos with one another and our little pup. They are great to work with. Marisa and Tim are SO much fun that I left our shoot thinking we just spent an afternoon hanging out with our friends - seriously!
My partner and I had a photoshoot in Joshua Tree with them and not only the photos are gorgeous, but we had so much fun together. Marisa and Tim are so funny, easygoing and passionate about photography. They had so many ideas for our photos so we just followed whatever they told us and we loved that! It also helped our shoot to go super smooth.
Also, Marisa and Tim sent us a Christmas card last year before our shoot, and a lovely card with a gift after our shoot. I mean, how lovely and thoughtful are they? Just the best.
I have to say THANK YOU Marisa & Tim for not only being amazing photographers and wonderful people, but also for wanting more diversity in your work/portfolio. My partner and I are a LGBTQ+ couple and we appreciate so much when businesses want to be more inclusive and diverse, so thank you for being one of them!

I found Marisa and Tim from a local Facebook group and it was literally love at first sight with their photos! I reached out and heard back from Marisa right away. She is very communicative and we were able to schedule a meeting for the four of us at a local Starbucks. I absolutely LOVED that we both got there early! I knew right away that these were people who I wanted a part of my special day. We talked about us, learned more about them, and went through the intricacies of our wedding day. My future husband and I left that conversation confident that for something as special as photography on our wedding day, this is who we wanted to go with. Not only were these good people, they are extremely skilled in photography and are excellent at planning ahead, full of creative ideas, and are supportive to the bride and groom throughout the stressful process.
Marisa and Tim scoped out the location for our pre-ceremony photos so when they arrived on the day of the wedding, (early- I might add) they were ready to roll! They immediately got to work and started taking photos of us getting ready, capturing details, candids, and posed photos. The entire day went well thanks to Marisa and Tim. Everything from our first look photos, photos with family, and table touching went just as we wanted thanks to the prior planning we had with them and them being able to accommodate any hiccups that came up along the way. As a team, they were calm and collected throughout the day and made us feel comfortable and reassured. They even brought props to stage some great photos! They were professional, encouraging, and fun.
The excellent customer service doesn't end after the wedding day either, I might add. Receiving our sneak peeks with a quick turnaround was SO AWESOME. We were able to immediately update our social media with the wedding pictures for friends and family to see. This made waiting for the rest a bit easier. The wait for the full album wasn’t long and we were happy and appreciative of the turnaround time.
Overall we are extremely happy with our service and our photos! We could not recommend Marisa and Tim of Peterson Design & Photography more. -

Where do I even begin? Well, let's start at the beginning. Photography for our wedding was a major decision for us. Thankfully, our amazing wedding coordinator, Holly with Anything But Gray Events, had an amazing recommendation that was Marisa and Tim. I Skyped with Marisa and Tim so to see how we connected and it ended up being an hour long Skype session. A couple days went by and I knew it had to be them. They were friendly, professional, personable, and had amazing senses of humor; four things that are SO important to us. So, we said yes!!! Best. Decision. Ever.
Cut to our wedding day--I arrived to our venue and Marisa and Tim were already there working so hard to get photos of all the beautiful details of wedding. Once it was time to start taking photos of the bride and bridesmaids Marisa was on point with direction, making us laugh, and being patient with our craziness! More importantly, Tim was able to handle my now husband's crazy groomsmen. He was patient with them, laughed with them and still managed to get incredible photos of them. Now, we also have a HUGE family, which can make it extremely difficult to get every single shot with every single family member, but again, Marisa and Tim made it ALL happen and got insanely beautiful photos. Finally, our reception photos were sooo much fun!!! And captured the moments I want to relive forever.
Marisa and Tim have insane attention to detail and are truly skilled with photography. I just can't say enough about them. Most importantly, the photos we got back were more than anything I could have imagined. I constantly look through the two thousand plus photos and just want to cry from how beautiful they are. I'm so proud to share them with my friends and family and have gotten more compliments than you can imagine!
I'm telling you now, if you are looking for photography GO WITH MARISA AND TIM! You won't regret it. I hate taking photos and am already trying to find a reason to have another photoshoot with them.

When we first met with Marisa and Tim, it was like we were meeting with old friends. They are so warm and welcoming that we automatically felt comfortable in their presence. I have to say, this was huge for us because we had no experience taking professional photos. We did our engagement shoot in Joshua Tree and it’s safe to say we were nervous...that is, until we got behind the camera! Marisa and Tim have a knack for making people feel natural and comfortable behind the camera. They made us laugh, they made us smile, and they captured it all beautifully. When I show people my pictures from the engagement shoot and the sneak peaks from the big day (we got them within days, btw), people are blown away. They really cannot believe the beauty in the photos, and they always say my husband and I look like models (whatttttt, us?! No way!)...but that it all Marisa and Tim’s work. Final thing then I’m done..I have read countless stories about people going so long without their photos, or worrying about what they’ll get because they’re not sure if the photogs captured all the photos they wanted...those worries never once crossed my mind. We knew we were in the best hands the moment we met Marisa and Tim, and I seriously slept better at night knowing they were part of my team of vendors. Marisa put so much effort into my timeline, she’s the reason I had any sanity at all during the entire planning process. She really listened to us to ensure we got exactly what we wanted on our big day. If you want dedicated, professional, fun-loving people to be part of your big day, look no further because these two will be like family when all is said and done. -

Marisa and Tim are amazing at what they do with cameras. They not only helped us with looking natural in front of the camera, they managed to help keep our dog looking quite cute and cooperative as we spent a couple of hours taking our engagement pictures. I really appreciated how flexible and prompt Marisa was in coordinating, and deciding, and, when I needed some pointers and advice for what to wear to the shoot, and even other things like planning our wedding, she sent over some vendors that they have worked with to help guide us!
We got our photos a few weeks ago, and when I opened up the package that came in the mail from them I just started crying! The thought that went into this care package- a sweet card, the cute box with all our photos AND some wonderful extras, just made it that much more special that we met with, and chose to go with these amazingly talented, and sincerely wonderful people as our photographers.
Looking at the product, our actual photos came out so beautifully, colorfully, and clear with some favorable editing (read-not overly blurred, shadowed, faded, etc). This was abundantly important to both myself and my FH when we were looking at photographers. I also wanted to note that my fiancé and I were actually very concerned as we don't know how to take pictures or look natural, and were so worried our awkward selves would come through these....and boy were we SO wrong! And immensely happy to be wrong!!
People do yourselves a favor and HIRE THIS AMAZING HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM! You will not be disappointed. -

When searching for a wedding photographer I’m sure we all want someone professional with great quality work.
Marisa and Tim (husband and wife duo) certainly provide those two things in abundance, but what I love the most was their friendly, thoughtful, and caring hearts.
I think the qualities I most admire are their dedicated work ethic, clear communication, standards of excellence, personal investment in their couples, and empathy.
They take time to build a relationship and to a camera shy couple like us, that made all the difference.

I can't recommend Marisa and Tim highly enough! Our outdoor wedding had about 150 guests, including a wedding party with 8 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen (if you're thinking "Wow that sounds like chaos," you're absolutely correct).
One thing I learned from my wedding was how important your photographer is in more ways than you might realize right now: they need to be incredibly talented, trustworthy, versatile, and a good value, of course. But they also need to be kind, empathetic, patient, and adaptable! I didn't realize how important that was until our wedding day. Your wedding can be one of the best days of your life, but no matter what you do in your planning, it can also be a day full of stress. You will need a photography team whom you can trust to capture those once-in-a-lifetime moments without being overbearing, able to wrangle even the most challenge groomsman or pet or family member, and committed to giving you moments of peace throughout the day. With Marisa and Tim, I promise you'll have all this and more. You'll also have the unique experience of working with a married couple whose own relationship will inspire you. They are a perfect team in every way.
Three cute Marisa-and-Tim stories for your enjoyment:
1) Our wedding was located at a beautiful vineyard in Mendocino County, CA, and surrounded by other wineries' vineyards. Marisa and Tim drove up a day early to scout nearby locations for photos, and the morning before our wedding, Tim shared his findings: "So depending on how flexible you are with 'off-roading', I may have found some amazing spots." Long story short, we ended up getting stunning photos of the vineyards that I didn't realize were possible. (Get yourself a photographer who is willing to do go the extra mile... or two.)
2) When I was getting ready the morning of our wedding, I was somewhere in the hair-and-makeup process when I saw my wedding dress float by me. Before I even had a chance to react, Marisa called out "Just getting some details shots before you have to get dressed!" I never would have thought to do that!
3) When my husband was getting ready the morning of our wedding at his groom pad, he found himself battling nerves that left him unable to tie his own tie! Tim, always calm, set down his camera and saved the day with his steady hands to complete the perfect double Windsor in record time.
They kept us relaxed, present, hydrated, and laughing. Oh and they designed our gorgeous invitations! And our photos were better than I ever could have imagined! -

Marisa knows what she’s doing and has a vision! My husband and I were lucky enough to have an engagement shoot and have them shoot our wedding! Before the wedding she met with me to go over details and our color themes and what we wanted. They also did a venue walk-through with us where she took notes of things that I was saying to the venue manager and then reminded me in an email, Marisa really is a jack of all trades. We also had her do our flowers for the wedding as well they turned out beautifully and were very reasonably price! I also love the fact that anytime I reached out to her I had a response right away! Most of all our photos engagement and wedding are gorgeous! I have received so many compliments on them! I also love their attention to detail I had a gazebo in the background of where we were going to get a beautiful shot of the sunset in the trees she took the time to edit it out of every photo that it was in! And when you receive your photos they are boxed together with so many details and love I have never received a package so amazingly put together! We highly recommend them! -

I found them on Instagram when I first started looking for a wedding photographer. After scrolling through their work I was smitten! I immediately set up a meeting with them and booked them right away because not only was their pricing was unbeatable, I had a gut feeling that they would do an amazing job. I can honestly I did not regret my gut feeling because they were INCREDIBLE! First off, they are professional and detailed. Secondly, Marisa is on top of communicating with you throughout the planning process so that on the day of your wedding there are no surprises. Lastly, they genuinely care about making your wedding day pictures amazing! My wedding day was on a rainy, freezing Wednesday afternoon and I freaked out because I was so worried we were not able to take pictures outside my venue. Marisa assured me that everything would be fine and she offered several game plans just in case it was pouring. Luckily, there was a break in the rain and they quickly captured all of our pictures with our wedding party outside the garden. They even managed to capture a beautiful night time shot, featuring the rain, with my husband with a clear umbrella they provided! This photo alone made me so grateful of hiring them for my special day!
Marisa and Tim are truly talented! I am over the moon with my wedding pictures. They are easy to work with and make you feel comfortable posing for pictures (I am extremely awkward so this was a biggie for me).

I would recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding, engagement or photographer for any event. They shot my fiancé's and my engagement photos this summer in downtown Los Angeles, which was one of the best days we've had in a long time.
Marisa and Tim are simultaneously professional and fun. They have a special knack for making you at ease and creating a fun and lively atmosphere. This definitely showed through in our photos, where we looked natural and relaxed instead of self-conscious and posed.
The detail they put into their work is extraordinary. We were impressed with their communication skills, presentation of work, ability to find the best lighting, packaging and branding etc. Marisa even went so far as to check if my fiancé would be wearing his glasses for our photos so that she would wear something that wouldn't reflect in the lenses. So impressive! They even did some location scouting prior to the photoshoot that gave us some great locations to use on the day.
Our photos ended up being beautiful. We've received so many compliments on them, and we couldn't be happier! The colors, angles and lighting are fantastic.

I cannot say enough about Marisa and Tim! A friend had used Peterson Design and Photography for their engagement, anniversary, and Christmas photos. I came across them and loved how natural the photos appeared. The use of natural light and scenery made the photos absolutely gorgeous and I knew I wanted the same. They took our engagement and wedding photos and I am in love with how they turned out! Marisa and Tim made the entire process so fun and easy for us! Marisa was always accessible for any questions or concerns I had. We had a couple of meetings to discuss where we wanted our photos taken and which FREE props we wanted to use. They have so many different signs and accessories to make each of our photos unique to us. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone and would definitely use them again. I will treasure my wedding photos forever because of them! -
