A floral visionary
5 stars simply aren't enough for Alex and her team at Petals & Roots! So much of wedding planning can feel stressful and cumbersome, but not my floral consultation! I had so much fun chatting with Alex about our vision, who was extremely knowledgable about unique/seasonal flowers and greenery. She captured the vibe we discussed perfectly and our guests couldn't stop gushing over her work. You can tell after 2 minutes of speaking with her that she is absolutely in love with her work and is genuinely so excited to be a part of your big day - it's such a lovely quality that you don't get from every vendors!
I can't recommend P&R enough for literally any special event, they will blow you away. Though it's true that wedding florals aren't cheap, I felt P&R were completely worth what we budgeted for because of the incredible quality of the florals and their willingness to completely customize anything you like. -

We are honestly speechless with how perfect of a human Alex from Petals & Roots is and how beautifully she brought our vision to life for our wedding in September 2023. As a same-sex couple, Alex made us feel nothing but loved and accepted from the very beginning. Wedding florals were initially not a top priority for us but we're so happy to have found Alex as she made our wedding absolutely STUNNING. Everything from our initial conversation to the million questions we asked along the way, the entire process was stressfree and Alex provided us with patience and total clarity on all of our questions/concerns both via email and over the phone. We knew which types of flowers we wanted but Alex also recommended others based on what was in season and the color palette we wanted, which was fun and bright. Petal & Roots pricing is competitive with other Tri-State floral vendors, however, we discussed our budget constraints with Alex and she was accommodating, working with us to create solutions without jeopardizing our vision. Her team was also amazing, setting up everything so efficiently before the ceremony and staying throughout the cocktail hour to make sure all the reception items were set up perfectly. When Alex arrived with our personals to the bridal suite, we were literally in tears seeing how beautifully she brought our vision to life, and meeting her was like seeing an old friend. We cannot recommend Alex and her team highly enough, and we will be forever grateful to have had her as part of our wedding day! -

Beautiful flowers for BK wedding!!
Alex at Petals&Roots was so amazing to work with and made the most gorgeous bouquets and table settings! Our wedding was at Liberty Warehouse in BK and she nailed the simple romantic feel we were going for as well as the coloring to blend with the bridesmaid dresses. Look no further for a florist!!!!! -

Alex is the absolute sweetest! She is so fun to work with and so detailed. She really gets to know you and she has a demeanor that feels like you’ve known her forever. The florist was the most difficult vendor for me to hire but after speaking with Alex once, there was no question. The arrangements for the wedding were absolutely stunning. Highly recommend petals & roots! -

Easiest part of wedding planning!
I order my wedding bouquet from Petals and Roots and it was hands down the easiest part of wedding planning. I told Alex a bit about what I wanted and how much I wanted to spend and she told me to go home, relax and pick it up the night before the wedding... I did exactly that and couldn’t be any happier with the result! It was simply gorgeous, the style I wanted (even though I think I didn’t even know exactly what I wanted until I saw it) and was a great value! I would absolutely shop there again for any of my future flower needs. The flowers lasted all day and even looked great the morning after the wedding. I’m now pressing them to turn into a keepsake. Thank you Alex for making everything so easy an perfect! -

Alex and team took our fairly broad vision and brought it together with the perfect color combinations while including any specific flowers we requested. Our bridal party bouquets were absolutely gorgeous and tasteful. We got many compliments on the arrangements. We would definitely recommend Petals & Roots! -

Petals & Roots makes insanely beautiful flower arrangements. I never thought I would be walking down the aisle with my dream bouquet. I initially contacted Alex & Julie last October with my champagne taste and Four Loko budget. I had a very unrealistically low budget on flowers and almost decided to not have them at all. Alex & Julie patiently answered all of my questions and not once turned me away. They said they could always do my bouquet if we decide to move away from having flowers at all as centerpieces/decor.
When I finally decided on flowers, I only ordered my bouquet, boutonnieres and corsages for our wedding party. I told Alex that I wanted the simplest white roses and eucalyptus. It was simple and I knew I’d like them. Come wedding day, the flowers arrived early and I was so surprised to see this beautiful arrangement. Alex & Julie remembered the flowers from my wishlist from months before when I first inquired about their prices and services. I was truly touched that they remembered my favorite flowers and had incorporated them. Thank you so much, Petal & Roots, Alex/Julie. You’ve made our wedding day extra special. (pictures to come) -

Alyssa Sent on 09/27/2018I don’t know where to start … I am still blown away! When I first saw the work that the Petals & Roots team did at my venue, I was in tears and just, well, blown away, I could not believe this was my wedding! They put mine & my husband’s vision to life and then some.
Alex, Julia and the team are unbelievably talented (they have a background in Art) and put 1,000% effort into everything they do.
Alex and Julia have an infectious energy, they care about their work and their clients, and their knowledge of the “floral world”, as well as the wedding & event planning industry, is astounding. Their ability to make the most of our budget, their resourcefulness and strong work ethic were also especially appreciated.
As someone with a “Type A” personality, I eventually realized it would be beneficial to give total creative control to the team and I am SO HAPPY I DID! They took our inspiration pics, venue info & the bridesmaid dress swatch, paired with input from us on the budget and the “must-haves”, and they gave us exactly what we wanted AND exactly what we didn’t know we wanted!
When planning your wedding or event, you want to have a vendor you can trust, a vendor that alleviates any stress from the planning process, and a vendor that understands both your vision & budget. Take my word: You will not be disappointed with Petals & Roots.
The moment I met Alex, I knew immediately I wanted her and the team to be part of my wedding. In fact, I was introduced to Petals & Roots before I chose my venue & date. I planned my wedding with a shorter-than-typical timeline, and to be honest, I only felt that was a possibility because I trusted the Petals & Roots team and was confident they would help not only help make this day extraordinary, but also add a positive experience to the planning process. -

Erica Sent on 06/29/2018Alex and her team did such an amazing job on my bouquet and my now husband's boutonniere. We swung by her shop and talked in person. We ended up staying quite a while as she was so much fun to talk with! I asked for bright colored flowers along with succulents, and wow! the bouquet turned out incredible. Compared to other places I asked, this was less expensive and the quality of service was greater. They even threw in a free succulent for our ceremony so we could plant it together as a symbol of unity. You can't go wrong if you go with Petals & Roots!

She is truly a gift; one of the sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting/working with and just a true talent. Even before I was engaged, I knew I wanted her to do my florals for the wedding. She is just exceptional about understanding your vision for the wedding and making everything feel so upscale, just with the addition of flowers in certain places. She is just a wonderful florist and person, and I can't wait to continue using her florals for all our special occasions.

Her work is the best I've seen, but it's a combo of her work and her persona that keeps me coming back!! I found Petals & Roots online when I was looking for a floral shop in my neighborhood. I sat down with Alex to discuss wedding flowers (as a maid of honor) and knew immediately that I wanted to work with her. I was not disappointed!!!! We couldn't have been happier!!
As a bride, I knew I wanted to work with Alex. It was such a pleasure just to meet with her.. she listened and produced more than I could've asked for!!! My wedding bouquet was stunning and the bridesmaids bouquets were beautiful as well. I would recommend Petals & Roots to any and every bride!!

I knew I wanted Petals & Roots to do our flowers because for years my husband had been bringing me home the most beautiful bouquets from them. Alex sat with me numerous times to discuss my vision. She is patient, understanding, generous and kind. Anytime I changed my mind, she welcomed the change and showed me how it could work within my vision. On the day of my wedding, when my bouquet arrived, I burst into tears because it was absolutely perfect. Alex and her team made our wedding more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. We are endlessly grateful. Hire them! -

Valerie Sent on 06/07/2015Petals & Roots was the preferred vendor of our venue (Penthouse808) and I'm so glad they introduced me to Alex and her team.
In my research phase I spoke with one other florist and although they had breath-taking arrangements, I was turned off by their horrible service and lack of response. Alex on the other hand was super quick to respond, and went above and beyond to make sure every detail was just right. We met at her beautiful shop in Astoria several times and we worked together in person, phone and email to come up with the centerpiece design I was envisioning. She didn't have a few of the flowers in stock when I visited, so she delivered a mock-up of the centerpiece when the flowers came in. She was very patient and understanding, and assured me everything would come out perfectly - and she was right! She personally came to our venue the day-of to help her team set up. She also had her staff deliver our corsages and boutonnieres to two different locations to make sure we had what we needed in advance. I also had some last minute changes that she was able to accommodate with no problem and no extra charges.
If you're looking for beautiful flowers, great service at an affordable rate - stop your search and go with Petals & Roots. I promise that they'll take care of you and do a fantastic job! -

Katie Sent on 12/12/2014Originally, I planned to do all my flowers. But, when I got my heart set on having an elaborate floral arch at the ceremony; I realized I should just leave everything to the professionals. (Thank goodness I did!)
I stumbled upon Alex and Petals & Roots by chance and (I think) very close to the wedding date. Luckily for me, she was able to take on our wedding. Not only is Alex a LOVELY person, she is incredibly talented, and she has loads of experience (the flower industry is a family business that spans generations!)
We emailed back and forth several times and she was very polite when I sent ridiculous PDF files with inspiration and direction. She was also VERY competitive with her pricing. (We did not originally budget for a florist, but Alex made it work.)
I wanted to use a lot of found bottles for our centerpieces and spent a year collecting them like a crazy person. Alex let us drop everything off ahead of time. She surveyed what she had and suggested how to fill in the spaces. At that time, she showed us some examples of flowers she planned to use (that matched our budget and our inspiration.) We felt very happy we chose her and she easily dispelled any anxieties we might feel about a florist.
Going off a photo I sent, Alex was able to make the most gorgeous floral arch I have ever seen. It was perfect; better than I could have asked for!
She did an incredible job of reading our tastes, inspiration, and then turned it into a beautiful professional floral masterpiece! I was so happy with all the flowers for the wedding: bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, etc. Everything was so gorgeous; I am sad I don't have more pictures of them.
I cannot praise Alex and Petals & Roots highly enough. She is a wonder to work with and she will make your event a floral dream. We will be sure to use her again at any opportunity. Thank you Alex!!!! -
Beckie Sent on 01/21/2018Alex and Julia were fantastic creating the flowers for our October 2017 wedding at the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City. From the initial brief, to the planning meetings, to following up after and liking our Instagrams :)
Alex helped us stay near our budget and expertly advised on what types of candles and vases would look great in our space as well. The centerpieces were gorgeous, in our inspiration session when I was liking a few different styles, Alex suggested a mix with some tables having single bouquets and some with an array of various bud vases, the end product was really lovely and their expertise in crafting each one made all of the tables both unique and cohesive. My favorite pieces though were the bridal bouquet and bridesmaid bouquets — absolutely stunning from from flower selection, to scale, to just the right amount of greenery, ribbon, & stems.
I highly recommend instead of going in with a prescriptive re-creation ask, just outline a few things you like (and the things you absolutely hate) and let the professionals do the rest. Bonus: the shop cat is super cuddly. -
