Penny is the best!

Penny did an amazing job taking photos for our wedding! We had a photoshoot before the wedding at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center that turned out great! She captured some great moments both in the portraits and during the ceremony. We loved the photos of the ceremony and the reception. Penny is also a great pet photographer, so we got some pictures at the reception of our dog in his tux!

We Want to Get Married Again So We Can Hire Penny!

When looking for wedding vendors, you want to find kind, genuine people who are about the people and the moments they are capturing. With Penny, we found that and more! We have now had three photography experiences with Penny, between a surprise proposal in 2017, a last minute “mini-Covid wedding” in 2020, and finally for the big day of our dreams in 2022!
The Proposal- In 2017, my husband sought out a photographer to document the day as he surprised me with a proposal in our favorite city (Newport, RI). Between the actual proposal (where Penny was stealthy as heck), the photoshoot just afterwards, and a later photoshoot on the Cliff Walk (after an outfit change and surprise hair/makeup for me), Penny knew all the right locations, poses, and made us feel so comfortable doing something we had never done before (professional photography).
The Wedding Part 1- In April 2020, we recognized that we would have to postpone our May 2020 wedding. We kept in touch with Penny as we had hoped to still have some kind of small, intimate ceremony despite COVID getting in the way of our original plan. After confirming with the venue three days before, I reached out to Penny and she agreed to help us document the big moment! She drove 90 minutes to photograph the brief ceremony, then spent over an hour photographing the two of us and our families. We will treasure that moment forever and we are so grateful to Penny that we have the memories in “film”!
The Wedding Part 2- May 2022- After much waiting, we finally made it to the big day! Penny kept in touch regularly leading up to the weekend, and answered any questions I had as they came up. On the day of, she and her 2nd photographer, Olivia, were so lovely! Penny made me feel special as I got ready with my girls and our moms, and Olivia documented the guys as they got ready.
All throughout the day, Penny and Olivia made magic happen in the form of photographs with our favorite people, both posed and candid. So many laughs were had and so many of them have and will grace our ways for decades to come. We were so impressed by the sheer volume of photographs they took (and edited). I continue to look through and feel grateful for every single one!
Even when rain threatened (and attacked) 20 minutes before and through the ceremony, Penny and Olivia were flexible and rolled with the (very wet) punches. When the rain stopped and we were able to get outside for our toasts, Olivia even climbed out a window to take the most incredible photo of the entire 140-person party! They were a calm and collected presence on what can often be a very chaotic and busy day. We are so grateful for that!
After each of these experiences, I was stunned at how quickly (but meticulously) Penny edited and returned our photographs. I have heard of many couples who had to wait more than six months for their photographs. Not only did we have 40 “preview” photos THE NEXT MORNING, but she had all of the photographs back within three weeks; they arrived while we were on our honeymoon and it made the experience so much more special. Now, I’m sure this isn’t possible in every case, especially in the busy season, but we were so grateful for her hard work in returning her pieces of art back to us.
As I look through photos to add to this review, I think about how lucky my husband and I are to have met Penny through this experience. She is a kind, friendly person with a lovely personality and will make the most incredible addition to your wedding day and all your memories related to them in the form of photographs. Couldn't be happier!!

I can’t say thank you enough to Penny for everything she did for us leading up to the wedding and the day off! We had to postpone our wedding twice, and Penny was there every step of the way to help us and work with us. Penny was always available to answer my calls and emails and did everything she could to make our third wedding date beyond special. Penny was incredibly easy to work with in planning the day and our photos and was especially easy to work with on the day of. My husband and I are not great picture takers, and Penny made us feel so comfortable and was guiding us with poses that suited our style and what looked best. Penny accommodated all of our photo requests, especially our sunset photos, which came out stunning. We are so happy with all of our photos, and we couldn’t have picked a better photographer for our day! In an already beyond stressful experience of planning a wedding during COVID, there are not enough words of thanks to Penny for being an outstanding wedding photographer!!

Personable, Responsive, Accommodating!

We chose Penny as our Photographer for our engagement photos and wedding. We just did our engagement photos and received them within a few days! She was so personable, very responsive (from first email to keeping an eye out on the weather for this shoot), and so accommodating with everything we wanted. We love our engagement photos and enjoyed taking them even more. She made us feel comfortable and had us genuinely laughing. We can't wait for our wedding!

Edit: Penny did absolutely amazing! She captured everything we wanted and then some! Prompt response and we got our photos back so quickly! We will be using Penny in the future and recommending her to every one.

Dedicated, Quality Work!

Penny is a dedicated and hard working individual. She has years and years of experience doing what she does and she is very straight forward and makes sure she gets the job done. You never have to feel lost or confused on your busy, sometimes stressful day. She will make sure you get the results you want. We met with her twice before our June 2018 wedding and she met us halfway between her home in RI and our home in CT, armed with plenty of her work to show us ad help us customize the perfect package for our wants, needs and budget. Her packages are really good deals as far as what they include and what they cost. I was amazed by the price compared to many other highly priced photographers. Her work is quality and she gets it done quick. We had previews the next morning, and the full album in less than 2 weeks. You get full access to all the photos online, a flashdrive with all the pictures, and the ability for your family and friends to logon and get download pictures too, among any other idea you may come up with that you want to include in your package. I had taken ideas from other photographers packages that were more expensive, and Penny was able to include those ideas in ours for the better price. You can't go wrong with using Penny for your photography needs.

Wonderful Experience!

It was an absolute pleasure to have Penny capture photos for our October 2018 wedding. Penny does great work and exceeded our expectations for a photographer. Our engagement and wedding photos were beautiful, but beyond that, the entire experience working with her was amazing. Penny is a true professional who was always on time for every meeting, took the time to understand our inspiration, and came prepared to capture all the shots that we wanted...and more! During the wedding, she was non-invasive but made sure to get all the photos we wanted and all the photos turned out more beautiful than we could have imagined! Penny is amazingly talented, professional and a joy to work with. My husband and I are so happy we chose Penny to capture our wedding day. She was my friend's photographer when she was married years ago and the photos came out beautiful, so Penny was my first choice for a photographer when I got engaged. For both our engagement session as well as our wedding, she had printed out some inspiration photos I had sent her and she tried her best to capture as many as she could. She was great starting with our engagement session. It was an unusually chilly night and we had our super hyper puppy with us, Penny was incredible and was able to capture gorgeous photos of not only us, but the dog as well. On our wedding day she was early! I loved that she had an additional photographer who was able to take photos of the groom and groomsmen getting ready. The entire wedding day she was amazing, she kept us on schedule while still being mindful of the photos we wanted to capture. She even convinced my husband, who hates dancing, to get out on the dance floor so she could take some pictures of us dancing together. My photos were ready about a week later! I can't stop looking at them. Penny successfully captured our wedding day exactly as we wanted. I highly recommend her, you will not be disappointed!

Penny Souza is AMAZING. We had our wedding in Newport on May 14, 2016. The wedding was a morning wedding, and while we were THRILLED with the perfectly blue skies, the early day and noon sun can make for harsh photography lighting. Penny absolutely nailed it. Our pictures are incredible. She got all the pictures that I wanted/needed with family and friends. She suggested great locations around our favorite city, and was a joy to work with. My husband and I were very happy with Penny's product from our 9/19/15 wedding! The photo quality is incredible and she captured every single important moment from our wedding day! Penny is super quick with the editing process and we had all 975 photos just 1.5 weeks after the wedding! She was so good that my sister and her fiancé didn't even hesitate to book her for their July 2016 wedding. Penny is amazing! i had contacted her a little over a year ago looking for a wedding photographer. After speaking with her I knew she seemed perfect. The BEST Photographer in the New England area in my book hands down! Penny was absolutely AMAZING to work with! From the moment we talked on the phone to discuss our wedding, I knew she was the perfect photographer for us! We planned our wedding from out of state, which has it's own set of unique challenges. When we talked to Penny and told her what we were looking for for our wedding and engagement sessions she was very nice, professional, made us feel very much at ease and was more than happy to roll with any ideas we had! For our engagement session we knew we wanted to do a fall themed shoot but didn't know where to go. Penny had the brilliant idea of going to Roger Williams State Park where we were able to move around and get pictures in different areas and locations of the park, which diversified the pictures and made each one special and unique. For our wedding day, Penny captured our special day in the perfect light (even though the sun and lighting was not the best). She went along with our crazy idea of trekking to the local park & football stadium and taking pics of us and the wedding party climbing over bleachers, swings and slides. Every single picture came out AMAZING!! We have literally poured over the pictures over and over again and fall in love with each and every shot more and more as we go! Do yourself a favor, stop looking for photographers, pick up the phone, call Penny & hire her! You will be so happy you did! We cannot wait for the next chance we can work with her again!

Words can not describe the great experience that we have had with Penny from the very beginning of our e-mail inquiring about availability and pricing to receiving our final wedding pictures in such a short time after our event. Finding a wedding photographer is almost a daunting task of finding the perfect person to capture your day but also finding someone personable enough to include them in your special day. Penny has such a great personality that she felt more like a guest and apart of our family than someone just taking pictures. Penny did an amazing job on our wedding and engagement pictures! Everyone raves about the photos. She was reasonable priced, made it easy for me because she had already been to the venue and decided where would be the best places to take pictures, took beautiful shots and got the pictures back to us a week after the wedding. They came out beautiful. She gave us a USB memory stick with all the edited pictures inside a decorated box with pictures of my husband and I and gave us all the prints in a adorable decorated box.

My wedding was perfect and Penny captured it all beautifully! If you are having a wedding in the Newport area I highly recommend her!

As a bride, everyday leading up to the wedding is stressful. The smallest tasks tend to be the most stressful. That being said, I am so happy that I chose Penny to be my photographer for our wedding. When we were in a rough spot looking for a place to have our formal pictures taken, she did her absolute best to find us a better spot. The day of the wedding, she arrived early to take pictures of my dress and flowers. Her pictures came out amazing and they are a memory of my wedding day that I will keep with me forever. Penny was also very professional in all that she did. Even my guests at the wedding told me "Your photographer is SO NICE!" and I agree 100%. We were lucky enough to find Penny before our wedding day, but not early enough for our engagement photos. She still offered us a free "engagement" session so that we could get to know each other and feel comfortable for the wedding. The photos from that session are amazing! We spent several hours in Boston taking some of our favorite pictures. Her attention to lighting and background paid off- they are beautiful. I think the most notable thing was that Penny made us so comfortable while taking the photos, despite neither of us liking to have our picture taken.

On the wedding day, Penny and her second shooter each traveled more than an hour and both arrived at our hotel a little earlier than expected (this was great- extra time!). They went right to work capturing little "detail" shots for us- the rings, my veil and shoes, the groomsmen folding their pocket squares. They even took my dress to our hotel lobby to get some shots of it hanging in better light. Then they took photos of each group getting ready and getting into our limo.

At our wedding venue, they helped us set up a first look. The pictures from it are some of my favorites from the day. Even though we had two cameras pointed at us, we weren't crowded and felt like it was just time for us. We also got our formal bridal portraits done before the ceremony so they could use the little bit of sunlight we would have that day. The pictures were beautiful, even though we were kept indoors because of a cold, rainy day.

Penny has left a great impression on us- she is very responsive to her customers, easy to talk to, works with changes well, and takes great photos- whether they are very formal or very fun. She worked quickly on editing our photos and posting them in our online gallery. After the engagement shoot and the wedding, we received our USB/proofs very quickly. Even after our proofs were sent to us, she's made sure that everything was as expected.

My Fiancée and I had an engagement session done recently with Penny, who will also be photographing our wedding as soon as we have a date for our wedding for next year. We wanted a photographer who has proven talent, is dynamic and creative, and supremely professional; all for a competitive price. Penny Souza exceeded our expectation in every way.
Penny allowed us to do everything we wanted, yet put her unique spin and creative edge into our ideas. The engagement session was made totally our own and Penny did a phenomenal job getting the perfect backdrops and moments of us being us–no posing, no acting. She also allowed us to include our dog Opehelia and came with printed pictures and ideas as to what she wanted to capture with our dog.
Her style of photography is uncanny and something I have not seen in other photographer’s work before. Before hiring Penny I had called many other photographers in the Newport, RI area and no other photographer took the time to get to know me and what I exactly wanted for our engagement photo shoot. Her sample photos were incredible, I was astounded by our photographs and every other album she has done is beautiful.

Penny is dedicated and passionate about her job and it shows. She had all 200+ pictures edited and back to us within 2 days. We were very fortunate to work with Penny and to take pictures for such a memorable moment in our life and I cannot wait until our wedding to see what she will do then!

Penny was my photographer for my wedding on 9/13/14. I just happened to stumble upon her when searching for a photographer and I'm so happy I did! Both Penny and her assistant Mae were amazing to work with. Penny is very professional and had great ideas for the creative photos I was looking for. It unfortunately rained on my wedding day but Penny went above and beyond to make sure I received some beautiful and memorable wedding photos. My photos were even ready in less than a week. Penny is an amazing photographer. We just used her for our wedding and plan to keep using her for any photography needs in the future. Not only was she professional but extremely easy to work with given the increasing stress as the wedding day drew closer. She confirmed all appointments and contracts so I did not have to add yet another reminder to my ever-increasing 'to do' list. She was also wonderful on the day of the wedding and all the guests commented how easy she was to work with. She respected our time and did not push for photographs to be done at a certain time. She was patient and courteous to everyone. The photographs themselves were beautiful. She managed to include much of the background bridge, ocean, and passing boats(our wedding was in Newport). She is truly an exceptional photographer and true professional.

Penny Souza worked with us to capture our wedding day memories this past July. We were on a tight budget and she did all that she could to work with us. In the end she gave us quality photos of the wedding party getting ready, all the details of the venue, the ceremony moments, formals, and the key moments of the reception.

She was early for all of our meetings including our first meeting to sign the contract (which was personalized and made affordable). Her consistency in emails and phone updates through the process truly helped my now-husband and I stay organized through the entire planning stages.

She brought us props to use on the wedding day for some fun pictures, and she also printed out all of the "pinterest photo ideas" I sent her so that she remembered every little detail of what we wanted. She was professional, personal, and obviously passionate about her work.

We got everything we wanted and more. We are so happy to have been able to work with Penny Souza Photography! I honestly cannot think of any bad or critical thing to say about our experience. Everything she promised, she did, and we got all of our pictures back quickly. If we ever move back to New England area we will be sure to seek her out for future family photos and events.

Penny was great to work with. She made the whole process easy and was always quick to e-mail or call back if I had any questions. The day of the wedding Penny helped me feel calm and my husband and I had a lot of fun having our pictures taken! Penny and her assistant Michelle both took some great shots throughout the day. Penny was also quick with her editing and getting the photos back to us. We truly love both our engagement and wedding photos. We have received so many compliments on our wedding album and couldn't thank Penny enough for doing a beautiful job on capturing our special day.

Penny has done our engagement, wedding and baby announcement photos. She has always been quick to respond to emails, very nice and easy to get a long with, eager to listen to our ideas to incorporate them into our photos, very well priced for the amount you get. Penny was an absolute joy to work with! She allowed us to relive our wedding through her photographs and was so flexible with us. Penny did a fantastic job with our wedding photos! She was so easy to work with, and talked through everything that I wanted beforehand. She took great care to position everyone each and every time we lined up for a shot, so that the lighting (both on indoors frames, and outdoors with direct sunlight) made everyone look their best! Her touch-ups were awesome too - she gave us softened looks, black and white, historic, and color accent pieces. My albums look amazing! I would definitely recommend her!

Penny (and her wonderful assistant) were great not only the day of our wedding, but also in the weeks and months of planning beforehand. She worked with us to create a photo package that really suited our dreams and budget alike. When the big day crept closer and we had new ideas or a change in schedule Penny easily accommodated our adjustments.

On the wedding day, both photographers were professional but not stuffy and we had lots of fun working with them. They were full of both traditional and creative ideas as well as open to suggestions from us. Plus, great posing directions made photos easy and stress free. When photos weren't posed we hardly knew the cameras were there; both captured the events efficiently and quietly, only breaking that wall when our direct attention was required.

Overall Penny' Souza's photography services were perfectly balanced; thorough without diluting the energy of our wedding day. Her photographs captured and told our story, highlighting the important events and favorite moments, both big AND small. Every time I look through our album I get to relive my own personal fairy tale.

Penny is not the most widely advertised wedding photographer, so if you've come this far - congratulations! You've made a great find! We were so happy to have a family friend recommend Penny's work. She did such an absolutely fabulous job with our wedding photos and we could not have been happier!

Penny was so easy to work with, laid back, and flexible, and she delivered an amazing product for a great price. We also had one assistant for our event, and he was great as well.

After the wedding, we were pleasantly surprised with how quickly the proofs were ready. Would highly recommend Penny!

Penny was extremely accommodating and professional through the whole hectic wedding planning right up to the wedding day! She was always fast to respond via email or phone even thought her schedule was hectic. As part of her photography package, she includes an engagement session which is a nice time to get to know her and how she works to make the wedding day all that much more comfortable and smooth. Penny was very easy to work with and her package was a great bang for our buck! And most importantly, our photographs came out exactly as i had imaged they would. She has different packages for all different budgets and they included the dvd of all of the hi-resolution images from our wedding which was very important to us, and is something that many other photographers either do not offer, or they make you but it fr an additional fee. With Penny, everything was up-front and there were no surprises she was always on-time and polite and blended in with the crowd on the wedding day! I had many people ask who my friend was who was taking the pictures for us! Phenomenal job overall- Penny is an expert behind the lens!

Penny was truly a pleasure to work with from start to finish. She worked with us to find the package and style of photographs that we wanted and that worked for us. She had fun and creative ideas for photos on our wedding day; all of her photos were absolutely beautiful! I was so pleased with how beautiful the photos were and all the great group photos she got. She even made sure she asked me throughout the night how I was and if there were other photos I wanted to take. The phot album and thank you cards she made for us exceeded any expectations I had, they were simply amazing! She got them to us pretty quickly too. Penny is a wonderful photographer. She is kind, down-to-earth, professional, and extremely talented. Our engagement and wedding photos came out beautifully. She takes wonderful pictures on her own, but she always makes what you want a priority. She encourages you to have a Pinterest page where you save all the different types of photos/poses that you like, and she actually prints out your Pinterest page and brings it with her to the photo shoot so she can make sure to capture your vision! She is also very good at getting your pictures to you in a timely manner. We had access to all of our photos 2-3 weeks after! She is awesome, and my husband and I definitely recommend her! You won't be disappointed!

Penny was very accomodating schedule and package-wise, and helped us figure out a package that would work for our intimate wedding. She got some great shots that our guests love and we adore. She is certainly a photographer to consider :) i only wish we had kept her for a few more hours!

Penny's work is beautiful and she is very quick with getting your pictures back. Her prices are great and I love that you get all rights to the pictures. However, I had a negative experience with her working with my videographer. She did not want to share the day with the videographer and even went against his recommendation and ruined my first look in my video. She also mentioned this frustration to me and my mom on my day which was completely wrong. She should have worked it out with the videographer and not mentioned it to me on my wedding day. If your interested in also hiring a videographer when you hire penny please make sure you are aware of this.
