I really don’t think anything I say will do Patrice justice, but I’ll try!
Patrice is absolutely incredible. We opted to go with a dessert bar and very single thing we ordered was decadent! Our wedding cake was delicious and perfect, and people we went CRAZY over her oatmeal cream pies!
Patrice makes the planning process SO easy! I planned my wedding from afar and she was excellent to work with even with a 6 hour time difference. She guided me to choose an appropriate amount of items tailored to my wedding size and helped by making great suggestions. We did meet in person for a cake tasting (which were the most delicious cakes I’ve ever had, it is SO hard to choose from all her incredible flavors!) but for the rest of the planning we met virtually and planning was flawless.
On the day of the wedding she came exactly on time and set up my dessert bar beautifully, and let me know where all the extra were stored so we could refill the display or take things home. She also put together special bride and groom boxes to ensure my husband and I would get a chance to have one of everything! Patrice is one of the warmest and nicest people I’ve ever met and I’m so happy we decided to have her bake for our wedding! My entire guest list couldn’t believe how good every single dessert was!
The prices were also very affordable! We had about 65 people and paid about $1200 (for everything!), we had WAY TOO MUCH (the pictures I posted don’t show the boxes and boxes of extras), because I didn’t listen to Patrice and I over ordered, bottom line - listen to Patrice and her suggestions/guidance she will not steer you wrong! On the bright side, I was able to send folks home with delicious desserts and we got to enjoy them for days after the wedding :) -

By far the best wedding cake that you will ever taste in your life, created by one of the best people you will ever meet. Patrice is pure joy, compassion, and magic. As someone who is obsessed with dessert, the wedding cake was high on our priority list. When we tasted a Patty Bakes cake – we knew there was no going back. She was the one. She was invested in every stage of our process – ensuring that we were able to taste everything, talking through our vision, and even incorporating our cat into the wedding cake! By the end of our first conversation, I felt like I knew her all my life, and I knew we were in good hands. We trusted her to create a cake that aligned with our wedding vision, and when we saw it for the first time, I got weak in the knees. She captured our personality into a wedding cake. We did not think that was possible. Our guests raved about the cake all night (Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel, Banana Nutella, and Mint Chocolate Chip). To be fair, they’re still raving about it…Thank you SOOO much for going above and beyond to make our wedding beautiful! We love you!! -

Patty was so great to work with! My now husband and I decided to do cupcakes with a small single-tier cake for ourselves. Patty walked us through everything, including the recommended number of cupcakes needed for our guest count. I never got the pleasure of meeting her in person, but my day of coordinator was beyond pleased with everything. Including that the cupcakes looked so amazing she was drooling! I gave permission for her to steal one, and the next message I received was "money VERY well spent!!!!". This was the sentiment shared by quite literally everyone, including us! Patty, everything looked and tasted AMAZING! If you ever come to the Chicago area, PLEASE bring cupcakes! Thank you for everything!!!!!! -

5 stars isn't enough!
I cannot even begin to describe how amazing our wedding cake was. It was easily one of my favorite details of our wedding. It tasted just as incredible as it looked. Patrice's flavors are the best I have had. Our guests raved about our cake and everyone was eating leftovers at breakfast the next morning! She took my inspiration of a "hand-painted" floral buttercream cake that matched the flowers on my bouquet and made it even better than I imagined. She is extremely detail-oriented, responsive, and organized. We had a call prior to the wedding discussing what I wanted and she created an inspo board and hand-drawn design of the cake for me to have an idea of what it would look like, going above and beyond anything I ever expected! She is also extremely kind and sweet. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! Thank you Patrice! -

I can't say enough about how much we loved our cake! Our cake was ocean inspired and not only was it gorgeous...it was also beyond delicious!! We went with 2 flavors (the sea the sea and honey bun) and several guests even tried both flavors. Patrice is also the sweetest and was truly amazing to work with from the cake tasting all the way to the big day! This cake was far too pretty to smash...but my husband did get some blue icing on his nose ;) -

Look no further- she’s the best of the best
Patrice is the best. Hands down. Not only is Patrice an amazingly caring and wonderful person, her cakes and desserts are beautiful and delicious. A true talent. Every single person from our wedding stopped me to rave about all of the desserts. Our cake was gorgeous, exactly what we wanted, and tasted AMAZING! If you are doing a dessert table- do not pass up the s’mores treats and the oatmeal cream pies. Patrice also made custom cookies for our rehearsal, she went above and beyond to help me surprise my husband with walleye shaped cookies. Once again, not only were they beautiful, they were so delicious that my mom wants to order them just to have some more. If I could give PattyBakes a review with endless stars I would. -

Patrice is incredible! Not only was she such a joy to work with, but her desserts are the most delicious works of art! I did a tasting with her over a year before my wedding, and just from meeting her I knew I wanted her to bake for my wedding. She's so personable, professional and kind. Plus, her baking is top notch! Our dessert bar was such a hit, we had ZERO leftover. And our wedding cakes were incredible, we definitely made sure we saved some! I cannot recommend Patrice enough! We're already planning to return to OBX this summer, and ordering some of her Oatmeal Pies & S'mores bars are on our to do list! -

Lots of Love for Patty Bakes!!
I’d read many reviews of how good Patrice’s cake were (100% true) and fell in love with many of her designs. My daughter and I were delighted she was available to make her cake on her wedding day and also added many of the fabulous desserts my daughter and her groom loved and sampled at their tasting. It was stunning!! All the desserts were gorgeous but were also more importantly delicious!! Patrice was also so warm and fun and made you feel like you were talking to a close friend. We were delighted by her and would definitely recommend her services to anyone planning their wedding! -

I loved Patty's cakes the minute I saw them. Initially, I just wanted treats that our guests could easily grab but I fell in LOVE with her designs. The dreamy romantic painted flower cake that resulted was so beautiful and yummy.
On top of that the other treats we ordered my guests are literally still talking about, giant cookies, smores treats, cupcakes... are you hungry yet? They were ALL AMAZING! -

Can't Beat Patty Bakes!
Patty was amazing to work with! Very communicative and accommodating. The wedding cake she made for was was delicious, and received many compliments from our guests! (Her buttercream is IMMACULATE) It was easily the best tasting wedding cake I have ever had! If you need a cake for a wedding or other event, you really can't do better than Patty! -

Beautiful and delicious cake
Everything down from our our phone call to selecting flavors and tastings to day of set up was absolutely wonderful. I cannot say enough kind things about Patrice. She is an absolutely gem and I’m so glad that I found her Instagram and reached out. The cake was a custom flavor, and absolutely not expecting OUR choice to play out well in the taste bud area, but she knew exactly what we were looking for and executed it beautifully. The cake was gorgeous and delicious and so were the little treats we got to go along with it!! She recommended our day of coordinator when we went to pick up our tasting cakes, chatted with us for quite awhile and we just felt like old friends. On the day of the wedding, she came to set up the cake and I was busy getting ready so I unfortunately wasn’t able to thank anyone but she found me and said hi! It was a wonderful surprise, gives you those warm and fuzzies when you’re stressed, two hours before you walk down the aisle! If we ever need a cake again, in the OBX, I will only be ordering from Patrice!!! -

Most Delicious and Gorgeous Cupcakes/Cakes
Patty Bakes is amazing! Patricia made our wedding cake and cupcakes and we could not have been more pleased. We had 3 different cupcake flavors and it was impossible to pick my favorite; they were all so good! Our guests all raved about them and we enjoyed the top tier of the cake for ourselves-we were planning to freeze it for our 1 year anniversary, but ate it right away instead :).
Patricia was also so great to work with. We had 3 large sampling cakes for our tasting. She is so energetic and made us feel like her only clients! We had a tropical theme for the wedding and she decorated our cake so beautifully with the florals. Definitely use her for any of your baking needs! -

The best wedding cake/desserts we've ever had
Not only was the cake beautiful, it was the best wedding cake we've ever eaten, and our guests agreed. We also ordered the ginger-lime tarts, but asked for toasted meringue on top, and they were amazing. Because we had such a small wedding (17 total), we got a smaller cake and opted for more variety in desserts. Patty talked with us about our vision for the dessert table and made a really elegant and unique cake. She worked with us on coming up with a cake that was off-book as far as her regular offerings and everything turned out incredible. Our wedding coordinator and Patty have a great working relationship and planned the cake and dessert pick up, so everything was seamless. Patty was so nice and we definitely recommend her! -

Patty made a gorgeous, sculptural cake for our wedding. Although all of our guests gawked at and photographed the cake, no one was sad to see us cut into it after dinner. We had been raving about it since our tasting six months prior, and will continue to do so. In order to get the cake to look how we wanted and to meet the minimum order for a wedding package, we got a much larger cake than we needed for the night of the wedding. This was fantastic, because we got to devour what was left over the next day or two. Next time we travel to the OBX, we plan to have a party just so we have an excuse for another of Patty’s cakes. -

Patty Bakes is officially my favorite person when it comes to sweets. Our wedding cake was just magically and Patrice was SUPER easy to work with. She does not simply give you one small bite of a cake...no no no...she practically bakes three cakes for you to sample. How to describe my experience with Patty Bakes?? Words can not describe how amazing my cake was they made, how amazing it tasted, and all the compliments we had on the cake! My cousin ate four pieces because the red velvet was soo delicious. From the moment we had contact with Patrice, to the sketch, to the tasting and design of our cake everything was just perfect! I mean, I literally felt like the cake appearance, taste, texture, customer service, everything was exquisite and perfect. When we did our cake tasting we could not decide on which flavor we wanted, and Patrice suggested both so we did! We are happy we did! Boy are you in for a treat when you hire Patty!! She is so talented and creative when it comes to her desserts. When hunting for vendors we had a horrible first experience with a baker so finding Patty was a godsend. She was so easy to work with and even makes THE CUTEST mini cakes for your tasting. Talk about yummmm
We had opted for a dessert bar instead of a big cake, not everyone likes the same cake and there’s always too much left over. In this case there was barely anything left over, from s’mores bars to cupcakes to tarts and everything in between Patty blew everyone away with her amazing treats. Our cake was the best cake I’ve ever had and Patty make it the perfect color and design to match our invitations. -

Beautiful work
I hired patty to help me with a grooms cake for our rehearsal dinner, wedding cake and cookies to gift to our guests. She was incredibly helpful and kind and did an amazing job! She took the time to talk to me about our day to understand everything and make sure she was designing a cake to match. When we went to pickup some of our items she was so excited for us and our day! Let me tell you it is so important to have vendors that truly care about your wedding and she is one of them. The grooms cake was a hit and I was having people ask me for more of it all week. The wedding cake was beautiful and exactly what I asked for and the cookies were made perfect to match.

Patrice is an awesome person, flexible, creative, fun, and does BEAUTIFUL work, but the CAKE. Oh the cake. I've had some great cakes, but no cake is like Patrice's cakes! Oh my gosh, it is so moist and flavorful. We did the vanilla bean with almond buttercream and rasberries. Man! The tastings were amazing. If you're an out of towner, try to arrange a date for the tasting while you go for your marriage license. Worth every penny and you'll be eating for days to come. The quality, still amazing! I found Patty on an internet search as I was planning a cross-country wedding. All our communication was via email. She was very prompt in her responses and very helpful with her recommendations! The BEST obx has to offer!
I first found Patty Bakes when I was searching for a cake vendor for my May 2019 wedding! We could not have picked a better company! Patrice was the sweetest from the very beginning and accommodated every single one of my requests, even the last minute changes! Her work speaks for itself, it’s beautiful and so unique. You can see how much creativity goes into every cake she produces.
We had a cake, cupcakes and mini cakes at our wedding. The vegan cookies were a HIT and people still talk about them! & during covid we ordered her cookie kits every single week when she started shipping!
We are so thankful we found her & will forever be supporters of Patty Bakes! -

Best cake baker on the obx
Patrice was an absolute dream to work with. On our wedding day we gave her a vision and she helped us execute that perfectly. She was detailed and professional but most importantly super cool and kind with us! She made us feel so comfortable as two brides , she even helped us by recreating a mini version of the cake for our one year anniversary. Patrice was a fantastic person to work with. She provided a first class experience and had many flavors of cakes to choose from. AND they weren't just your average flavors....the creativity and flavor composition is unlike any other baker at OBX. We got a small cutting cake with cupcakes for our guests and both looked amazing! Patrice is a true artist. We loved them so much that we order the cupcakes again the next time we visited OBX. The cake tasting was top notch as well. She prepares personalized hand crafted mini cakes designed just like you want them so you can see what your getting. We did a few cake tasting before making our decision and none of the even came close to the experience Patrice provided! She is also great at working with clients to make the perfect displays for the wedding night. She also coordinated with our florist to make sure the cake table was set up to our exact wishes. Patrice also provides to-go boxes for leftovers. over all an A+ experience and worth every penny! -

As a local to the outer banks, I can definitively say Patrice makes THE best cakes on the Outer Banks. Her flavors are unique (and super tasty!) and her cake designs are exquisite, rivaling anyone in the country. She really takes her time to get to know you and your style, working with you to create your perfect cake - whether that's modern, traditional, edgy....you name it, and Patrice can do it. I really wanted to do a fun geometric pattern on the cake, and Patrice worked with me to create an amazing one of a kind design inspired by some of my favorite textiles (Block Shop). My husband has some weird allergies, my dad is lactose intolerant, and we had a number of gluten free wedding guests - Patrice accommodated all of these needs without a worry, ensuring everyone had a dessert they could eat. All of the guests raved about the cake - I promise you will not go wrong with Patrice and Patty Bakes!!! -

My husband and I hired Patty Bakes for our wedding and we were so beyond happy with our experience. We had salted caramel cupcakes!! So delicious. She was recommended by Jonathan Photography. I believe he said she's from New York, and I love my new yorkers because they have a lot to compare around there ;) She bakes high quality cakes and I'm health conscious since everyone in my family has some sort of food allergy, who doesn't nowadays, but I knew I could count on her to create something simple, delicious, and for everyone to eat without feeling bad afterwards. Patrice is amazing! She took on our dessert bar for our wedding even though I was pretty late in the game looking for someone to do our desserts. She was pretty booked up given the late notice but she accommodated us without the bat of an eye anyway and I appreciate it SO SO much. Patrice is an artist! All of the desserts she made for our dessert bar were not only delicious but they were beautiful for presentation. She was so sweet to work with. The hardest part was just picking from all of her delicious flavors! All of the flavors were so creative and sounded so good, I wish I could have tasted everything! I loved working with Patrice from the blueprint (sketch) of the cake to absolute perfection when it was done including delivery to the wedding. I love cakes and I can bake so I know what I am talking about - that being said I need to order one for myself to enjoy it - I do not need any wedding or any occasion haha

Not only did it taste phenomenal, but it looked absolutely beautiful. We wanted a simple semi-naked cake that looked elegant and timeless and did she deliver! Having her decorate our cake with extra flowers from our florist really elevated it to the next level. We cannot wait to work with Patrice again. Highly, highly recommend Patty Bakes!

Janelle Sent on 05/29/2018We celebrated my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary on the OBX in April. I contacted Patty Bakes and asked for some decorated sugar cookies and a cake. She was responsive, clearly excited about her work and communicated well while working with us to understand what we wanted and to help us clarify our vision. The result of both items was better than we could have imagined. They were gorgeous and delicious. I've never had a professional cake that had a flavor as amazing as the beauty of the cake itself. Patty Bakes offers the whole package, not to mention she is an absolutely delightful person who truly cares about adding this special touch to your celebration.

Kim Sent on 05/14/2018The cake Patrice made for us was one of the highlights of our wedding. It was beautiful and delicious! Yummy and exactly what we wanted - the buttercream frosting was so light! We couldn't believe the flowers on the cake were made out of sugar - they looked like real flowers. And the chocolate drips were amazing! Patrice was excellent at communicating with us and made the process super easy and fun! She is so talented. I only wish she worked closer to us... so we could have her do our birthday cakes!

I have asked Patty to make 3 custom birthday cakes (including ice cream and tiramisu as well as more traditional cakes) and she has knocked each one out of the park. She’s thoughtful, sweet, talented, creative, and goes above and beyond - 100000% recommend!

From the cake tasting (so many delicious flavors to choose from) to the actual wedding cake (delivery was timely with no issues), everything was perfect. We showed her 2-3 pictures of inspiration and she provided sketches that we got to customize. She really took the time to get to know us and boy did she nail it! The cakes were BEYOND delicious (Italian Cookie and Funfetti! YUM!) and our guests are still talking about them three months later. I can't wait to use her again for our next event! Thanks Patty!

Not only is she a joy to work with -- super responsive, friendly, creative, open to feedback, and flexible -- she produces! We had only two conversations about the kind of cake we envisioned for our wedding day. We shared a few pictures and selected the flavors. And BOOM! The most perfect two-tiered marbled (with gold leaf!) wedding cake appeared at our wedding venue. When we finally had a chance to sit and enjoy our wedding cake on Sunday it was heaven. Absolutely delicious -- flavors were expertly balanced, cake was moist and the fondant was to die for. We can't thank you enough for being part of our wedding day, we will treasure photos of our cake for years to come and we can't wait to enjoy it again on our anniversary next year! XOXO

Mira Sent on 01/03/2018I first reached out to PattyBakes about turning my fiancee's favorite childhood dessert, an Italian rainbow cookie, into a birthday cake. It was a wild success. It was so beautiful and so delicious in fact, that we reached out again about expanding that same concept into a wedding cake. Both times, Patrice offered creative options for the cake aesthetically, and subtle ways to elevate the flavor to make it more sophisticated but still very true to the original idea. She listened and cared about the things we knew we liked and wanted, and she offered suggestions and inspiration to help figure out the rest. She created a shared Pinterest board to help us visualize elements of the different options. We loved both cakes so much and heard only rave revues both times from our guests. I cannot recommend her enough.

I completely trusted her from the beginning and didn’t have to worry. We just had our November wedding where she made a stunning tiered pumpkin cake with cinnamon honey cream cheese frosting. Not only were the 3 cakes she designed for our wedding beautiful, inventive and scrumptious, but working with Patty was an absolute joy. She was recommended by an old friend of mine, and I am so glad we were able to make it work. Jackie Sent on 10/09/2017Working with Patrice was a dream! She is so friendly, prompt to respond to email correspondence and most importantly, creative! Besides the fact that we wanted strawberry shortcake, my husband and I had really no idea what kind of cake design we wanted. Patrice was knowledgeable about everything cake-related! She took our ideas from a naked cake and really ran with them, and ended up creating the most beautiful, delicious, colorful cake I have ever seen! Inspired by our wildflower theme, she hand-painted an incredible, colorful masterpiece! I cried when I saw it on our wedding day. The addition of some leftover flowers, which she beautifully arranged on top of the cake, made for the perfect cake topper! So many people commented on how unique and beautiful our cake was. If you are still deciding on a cake for your event and don't really know what you want, you can trust Patrice to dream up something super creative and special for whatever your occasion. I'm so happy we trusted her instincts- we ended up with a cake that was truly "us!"

People couldn't stop talking about how they looked and how they tasted and we couldn't have been happier. Our wedding would not have been the same without her cakes!
