Magical Costa Rica Elopement
Maciej went above and beyond for our elopement. He was more than just a photographer, he was truly our wedding planner. My husband and I had never been to Costa Rica, so we weren’t sure what we wanted for our elopement or where to begin. He spent so much time educating us on the area and sending thoughtful ceremony location options. He even used his personal time to scout different spots and speak with multiple agencies to help make our day perfect.
We ultimately planned on a helicopter ride to a waterfall, followed by a couples massage and lunch. This was a super romantic itinerary he completely designed and curated for us from start to finish. Unfortunately, the rain on our wedding day prevented us from doing any of the original plans he worked so hard on. But he effortlessly pivoted, met us at our hotel. We still had the most incredible, intimate wedding we could have imagined and I felt no stress, even as an extremely anxious person.
Maciej makes you feel completely comfortable and is genuinely down for anything. His photography skills are unmatched. We received our photos so quickly, and the quality is truly stunning. It’s clear this is a gift that comes naturally to him.
He is also incredibly well connected in the area. He recommended an amazing makeup artist and a beautiful cacao ceremony officiant, and he personally picked up the exact flowers I had envisioned from a local shop and brought them to our wedding.
If you are considering Papaya Wedding and Maciej, whether in Costa Rica or anywhere in the world, I would say you should absolutely do it. He has a creative mind that will make your dreams come true. He is open to traveling, his pricing is extremely reasonable, and he pours his heart into what he does. We are so grateful and will absolutely be working with him again. -

When my husband & I decided on Costa Rica for our destination wedding, Papaya Wedding was the first vendor I locked into place. I knew from the moment I browsed Instagram, they were hired! Maciej's style was exactly what I was looking for in a photographer, and out of all items on a wedding day budget, I knew photography was not something I was willing to compromise.
Maciej is very well connected in the wedding industry, he understood our vision completely and introduced us to our wedding planner to help guide us through our planning process. Our photos turned out absolutely stunning and the team captured the day start to finish beautifully. Maciej and his team were very professional & accommodating, timely and overall so fun to work with. I would recommend them to any future couples -- and they're willing to travel outside of Costa Rica! -

Can’t say enough good things about our wedding photographer! He captured the most beautiful, breathtaking photos, truly beyond what I imagined. As someone who doesn’t usually feel comfortable in front of the camera, I absolutely fell in love with how he captured me and my husband. He was so attentive, made us feel completely at ease, and had this effortless way of blending in so that we could just be ourselves and enjoy the moment.
Every photo was perfection, warm, rich, and radiant. This was definitely a hit! 10/10 (actually 10,000/10) recommend!

Working with Maciej and Jen for our elopement in Costa Rica was an absolute dream! From the start, Maciej was communicative and made the whole process of having an international elopement easy. He and Jen made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, allowing us to be ourselves and they did a great job capturing the small joyful moments (like the groom dropping his shoe in the water lol). Our photos arrived promptly and are stunning – they look like something out of a magazine! We know the video will be just as special. Our family and friends are blown away. Worth every penny, no doubt. -

My husband and I celebrated our 20-year vow renewal in Costa Rica. We hired Maciej for photo and video. Maciej was very upfront regarding the services, he was extremely helpful with suggesting timelines and locations. The day of, he was very prompt, friendly and accommodating when we had some schedule changes. Maciej sent us a sneak peak of our photos and they were absolutely amazing. we got all the photos shortly after and OMG! the photos were absolutely amazing. I am still waiting on the video, but I'm sure it will be absolutely amazing as well. -

We were SO lucky to have Papaya Weddings recommended to us by the resort we stayed at in Costa Rica! Maciek was super responsive and accommodating to our situation, showing up with only a few days notice to guide us through our first ever photoshoot experience. He was professional and creative and took our inputs seriously. My favourite part was how genuinely excited he seemed for both of us and how his love for his work shone through. Highly recommend! -

I was so excited that Maciej was available on our date after reading amazing reviews and seeing some of his work. From the first video call we had with him and Jenn, I knew we had chosen the perfect team. Communication was always very easy and we received quick responses to any questions we had. On the day of the wedding, Maciej and his team were prompt, and brought an amazing energy that really made us all feel so comfortable and ready! I never feel that comfortable in front of a camera, but Maciej and Jenn really made me open up. It felt like being around great friends who know how to bring out the best in you! I cannot recommend them highly enough, especially after seeing the end result of our videos, which brought me and my husband to tears we were so happy! I know splurging on a videographer can be difficult for some couples to justify, but you will not regret booking Maciej to shoot your wedding videos. The whole team is very professional and does a great job making everyone involved feel comfortable. It rained most of our wedding day (actually downpoured during our reception, so we had to move inside), but Maciej and his team captured all of the important moments from our wedding despite getting rained on themselves. Communication day of and following the wedding was great, and the turnaround time on our videos was really quick (only 3 weeks!). Maciej and his team did an absolutely amazing job on the videography for our wedding, and I could not be happier with how our videos turned out. I really cannot recommend Papaya Wedding enough. If you're on the fence about having a videographer, spend the money and go for it! You will not be disappointed. -

Costa Rica Elopement
Maciej was a dream to work with from start to finish. He not only was our photographer but also our event coordinator. He helped us choose the best location for what we were looking for and was so flexible on any changes we made. We are from Canada and had to plan everything virtually and fully trusted Maciej in the process. He made us feel so comfortable during our photos and we had so much fun together. I would 100% recommend Maciej and am planning on coming back to Costa Rica to have him shoot more photos with us! -

My fiancé and I had our engagement filmed by papaya wedding. We could not have asked for a better experience. My fiancé organised this with them through Instagram from the UK and they were reliable, professional and better than we could have ever imagined. We did not once feel uneasy about booking with an overseas team.
We were overwhelmed with the turnaround time for our photos and videos.
What this team created for us was so magical and we would book them again for another event in a heartbeat!

Great Experience
Initially I felt so uncomfortable in the spotlight with photography but they made it fun, softly pushed me out of my comfort zone (which I appreciate), and made us feel so comfortable. I loved the final results, everyone says the photos belong in a magazine. -

I wish we could hire them for every event!
My wife and I had a destination wedding at Dreams Las Mareas in Costa Rica. During the wedding planning, the distance from your venue can make you feel a little lost, but we did not need to worry at all when it came to Papaya Wedding Photography. We were blessed with the most amazing photographers! Not only did we get beautiful photos, but Maciej and Jennifer made us feel completely comfortable. Not one moment was missed - from getting ready in our rooms to the sparkly tunnel of love at the end, every second was captured beautifully. We really appreciated the attention to detail and making sure we had plenty of photos to choose from. If you’re thinking of booking with Maciej, you will not regret it! -

Maciej and his team were instrumental in capturing our rehearsal dinner AND our special day. They did a great job posing us all, capturing our special moments, and knowing where to go at The Springs Resort in Costa Rica (where we got married) to get all of the good shots. They also had some wonderful 'action' shots and we are so happy with their work. They were also super friendly and easy to work with. Would highly recommend for any destination wedding photo shoots or engagement photos! -

Maciej was the best choice for our big day at Dreams Las Mareas. We found him through the Dreams Instagram page and really liked his work. From the moment we sent our inquiry he responded within hours and the communication from there on was always timely. We had 2 zoom meetings, the first about 10 months before our wedding to ask preliminary questions and make sure he was a good fit and the second meeting about a month before our wedding to discuss our vision and must have pictures. On the day of our wedding Maciej worked well with our videographer and his second shooter captured our bridal party while we were on the beach taking photos. The photos turned out amazing and we received 1,000+ pictures even sooner than we expected. We would highly recommend Papaya Photography, amazing customer service, timely responses and undeniably captures the essence of Black love. Thank you Maciej! -

Amazing photographer
We’re so thrilled we chose Papaya Wedding for our photos! Maciej was wonderful to work with from start to finish. He was very responsive in answering all of my questions leading up to the wedding. The day of the wedding, he choose an epic location for our first look and went out of his way to get the best shots - including climbing on waterfalls and balancing on the edge of pools! Best of all, we got all our photos within a couple of weeks of the wedding and they are STUNNING! I can’t recommend Maciej enough!! -

I spent about 2 hours straight just looking at all of our photos. Crying and sobbing and just in awe the entire time. Every single moment was perfectly captured. Maciej and his team did an incredible job from start to finish on handling our photography needs for our destination wedding. We looked at several vendors, and Papaya Wedding was the best price and value. Maciej made us feel comfortable booking despite the challenges of being in different countries. On the wedding day, the weather was unpredictable, and his team made us feel at ease and took care of everything. Even during our sunset photo shoot, it was cloudy and drizzling, and we were wrapping things up. All of a sudden, the sun came back out and they insisted we continue the shoot to capture the incredible backdrop! During the reception, the team was hardly noticeable as they captured our evening's festivities and memorable moments. I would highly recommend Papaya Wedding to make your wedding unforgettable! -

Just what I was looking for!
Maciej was wonderful! Not only was he quick with his responses and getting our photos to us he has an amazing eye. He caught some of the best moments of our wedding and I could not be happier with them. Before the ceremony he was able to photograph both my husband and I while we were getting ready and really helped keep us on track. During the ceremony I was holding tissues because of course I was afraid I would start bawling and when he saw that I was just fine he was able to grab them without interruption and get some wonderful photos of us exchanging rings. We had so much fun taking photos after the ceremony with him which was very important because we had never had professional photos done before. The reception went so smoothly mainly because he was able to remind us of the important events I wanted him to capture (everything became chaos for me after the walking down the aisle and a few drinks). The added bonus was the BEAUTIFUL box he sent our prints in and the gorgeous flash drive (can flash drives even be gorgeous? -

We used papaya for our recent wedding in Costa Rica. Maciej and papaya as a whole were incredible. Very responsive and answered all of our questions. Very patient and understanding which helped put us at ease as we were planning our wedding from so far away. The photos are fantastic. We also got them back quickly. He made us a photo book that we will treasure forever. Highly recommend. Book him! -

After looking at lots of photographers before our wedding, we both decided on Maciej as we fell in love with his photos. He was so easy to communicate with, very responsive and professional but also personable! We eloped so with me, my husband and our photographers spending half the day together, this was huge for us! Him and Adriana both came early to take getting ready, bouquet/dress/ring and then ceremony photos. They were very kind and patient as we were not ready yet upon their arrival so they waited outside our room until we were and didn't make us feel rushed on our special day! After, we walked all around the hotel property/gardens capturing how truly happy we were that day and are together. They worked together wonderfully with the ability to be creative and try out things they were inspired by in the moment. They gave us good direction as we're definitely NOT professionals which was extremely helpful. It was pouring rain up until our ceremony and they kept us calm and luckily the rain stopped 5 mins to showtime! Although we did not have the background of the Volcano that we'd hoped for, They truly took advantage of the beauty in the lighting from the clouds, the background of the fog and the landscape that we are not the least bit upset about the weather as the pictures came out more beautifully than we could've hoped for! He captured us at our best in our most genuine moments.. laughs, looks of love and tears. Our photos are STUNNING and we received them quickly. We could not have chosen better than papaya photography for the biggest day of our lives! -

I had the wedding of my dreams in Costa Rica this past May and it's because of Maciej and his partner that we were able to come home and simply WOW our friends and family that did not attend. Maciej was a joy to work with even in the months up until the wedding! Any question that I e-mailed was answered same day and he was sharing the excitement of my upcoming wedding with me. The pictures they captured were STUNNING! Everyone has continued to tell my husband and I that are wedding photos look like they are straight out of a magazine.
Not to mention, Maciej provided me a handful of photos the next day after my wedding and ALL of my pictures were available just a few short days later. That's unheard of with photographers. He went above and beyond making sure we were happy every step of the way and even assisted us with creating a photobook that we will forever cherish!!!

He was very flexible and easy to work with. He had also referred me to jenifer who owns a horse stable for trash the dress on the beach. The pictures are far better than I ever imagined. I hired this husband-and-wife team for my wedding, she was the photographer and he was the videographer. I want to start by saying that the photography was absolutely beautiful. She captured our day so naturally and creatively, and I truly loved every single photo.
Unfortunately, my experience with the video was very disappointing, especially given how much I paid. I had explained early on that one of the most important parts of our day was me reading a letter from my dad, who passed away six years ago. This was a very meaningful part of our story and something I wanted to be included in the wedding film. When I received the video, that moment wasn’t included at all.
When I asked about it, I expected that he might revise the video to include it, but instead, after 3.5 months, he simply sent me the footage of me reading the letter. The final video also didn’t use any of our wedding songs, and it felt like a random collection of clips rather than a story of our day. It just didn’t reflect the emotion, meaning, or planning we had hoped for.
I wish the videography had matched the level of care and artistry that went into the photography. It’s a tough review to write because I genuinely loved working with them, but the video experience left me really disappointed and sad.
