It is months later, and my husband and I still talk about how grateful we are to have found OTR for our wedding day. From the booking process, to refining the details, coordinating the decorations, and seeing our dreams come to life, all in the MOST beautiful environment (that served as a gorgeous backdrop to our day), we truly couldn't imagine a better experience.
Melanie was so responsive to any email or phone call and so kind throughout the entirety of planning. On our wedding day, the professionalism and care that Melanie and her staff had shown us, our guests, and to the details of our day truly allowed us to be 100% present. We didn't have to think about setting up, the transitions between events, taking the decorations down, etc.- everything, and truly everything, was taken care of (and was done extremely well). All we had to do was enjoy! Every part of our day came together so seamlessly, and our guests loved the layout and locations of events. We had our ceremony on the patio, cocktail hour on the deck/side dining area, and the dinner and the reception under the pavilion! Moving to different locations added an exciting element for our guests!
Besides the amazing staff, OTR offers the most amazing food (people are STILL telling us how incredible the entrees and appetizers were). The menu was so customizable and the kitchen staff were very accommodating with any dietary restrictions. There were so many add-ons to ensure that your day is tailored to you and the people you love! Our group loved having the option to go to the fire pit throughout the night, and the bridal suite with the balcony was a dream!
We were so comfortable, confident, and excited to put our trust into Melanie and her team- we would do it a million times over again. If you are considering booking OTR, you will not regret it!! -

10/10 Start to End!
My husband and I can not speak highly enough of Melaine and the team at Fox Hopyard. We knew that we wanted a venue in CT and loved the setting of Fox Hopyard from pictures and reviews. Melanie and everyone on staff were very welcoming when we came for a tour and made sure to answer our questions and provide thorough details on their packages. Unlike lots of venues that we went to, Fox Hopyard did not have tons of hidden fees and charges. They had straight forward packages that were inclusive but still allowed you to customize and add your personal touches. The venue itself is stunning, with gorgeous views of the golf course and surrounding woods, a beautifully updated clubhouse for dining, and a romantic pavilion for dancing. We knew from that first tour that it was the perfect spot for us.
Throughout the planning process, Melanie was responsive and organized. She checked in with us regularly to make sure that things were falling into place, and was always willing to answer our questions or give her opinion. She stayed on top of emails and calls and all of the details that came from them. Our final meetings before the wedding were stress free because Melanie had everything organized and accounted for. She coordinated seamlessly with all of our vendors and made sure that both outside vendors and her team were on the same page.
The venue was set perfectly for the day of. All of our details and personalizations were set just how we had envisioned making it feel even more special for us. The entire day went off seamlessly thanks to Melanie and the staff. They went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything that we might need. Everyone on staff was so nice and wonderful to talk to. Melanie kept everything running according to our timeline and checked in with us regularly as we transitioned through the events of the evening. All of the food and drinks were delicious and they catered to food allergies and preferences perfectly. Some of the hardest decisions we had to make were which passed appetizers to select from their menu, because everything was so darn good!
From start to finish our wedding day was a dream, and we could not have done it without Melanie and the team at Fox Hopyard. We feel so lucky to have found such a beautiful site and have it run by the most kind, professional people. We could not recommend this venue highly enough to anyone who is getting married.

Our wedding at Fox Hopyard was wonderful. Melanie was amazing to work with, very communicative and helpful!! She was there every step of the way! Answering all our questions and helping us right up till the end of our big day! The tours of the venue and other meetings were such a nice time. The day of staff were so great too! The food was delicious, every guest gave us compliments on the food and the professionalism of the staff! They decorated everything exactly how we wanted with our decor the morning of! The flow and coordination of the day could not have been any better. We definitely recommend this for your wedding or event venue!! -

We are so grateful to OTR for the wedding of our dreams! The venue is absolutely breathtaking no matter where you go on the property. We did the buyout (highly recommend) which allowed us to have our ceremony in the Pavilion, cocktail hour on the deck, dinner inside the restaurant and then get the party going back in the Pavilion. With the buyout, you have various options for what is located where, but we felt our set up was 10/10. Our guests really loved the flow and the different locations for everything. From the first time we met Melanie, she made planning seem so seamless & effortless in the best way possible. Melanie and her team are very flexible and helped bring our vision to life, even better than we imagined it! The food was amazing! Our guests were so impressed with the food and level of service all night. Melanie and her team treated not only treated us (bride & groom) like royalty, but our guests as well. OTR also offers so many great add-on’s: We chose to do the ceremony package, which meant they took care of the decor for the aisle & the arbor. We also had welcome champagne for our guests upon arriving at our ceremony. We even added on a French fry station as a late night snack (BIG hit with the guests). Everything was truly super customizable and to be honest, we felt the pricing was extremely reasonable (big plus)! I could go on and on, but the biggest takeaway is that OTR is the most perfect venue for a wedding, and we would recommend this venue to everyone and anyone. Melanie and her team are impressive beyond belief. We cannot thank her and her team enough for this ensuring our day went smoothly and perfectly. -

This venue is absolutely beautiful - we rented the whole space (which allowed us to have a different set-up for first look - down by the boathouse, ceremony/cocktail hour - with the rolling hills in the back, dinner inside, and dancing in the pavilion. Melanie has been incredibly responsive and accommodating since day 1 of booking. She and her staff are very detail oriented, kind, and friendly. I have very high expectations at baseline, and my expectations were exceeded - every detail that we requested was fulfilled and then some. Every guest absolutely raved about the food, and both myself and my husband finished our plates, too good to pass up. As someone with a life threatening food allergy (who hosted guests with many sensitivities/allergies), I felt safe, comforted, and listened to. We will truly never forget this night and want to thank the On The Rocks staff for making our vision come to life. -

The most perfect day at the most picturesque venue in CT!
We got married on 10/8/22 and chose the buyout option for our 120 person wedding. We had our ceremony in the pavilion, cocktail hour on the wrap around porch, dinner in the restaurant and dancing in the pavilion. From the beginning of our process, Melanie was a pleasure to work with. We are so grateful you were with us every step of the way. Melanie was very responsive to emails and phone calls and provided details to questions we had. We also had a final detail meeting a month prior to review final day of details which was so helpful. Two days before the wedding we had a ceremony walkthrough with the bridal party. The wedding exceeded our expectations in so many ways, it was so perfect and magical! Your staff were so attentive and kind and took such care of us and our family and friends. Our guests could not stop raving about the ambiance, the venue’s breathtaking views, the food, drinks and flow of the evening. Words cannot express how truly grateful we are that we were able to have our wedding at the most perfect place.

We got married at OTR at Fox Hopyard on 9/10/22. It was an absolutely perfect day from start to finish! Melanie was so helpful throughout the planning process, and very easy to reach. She is so organized, knowledgeable, and super detail oriented! We had our rehearsal dinner the Thursday before the wedding, and she was able to coordinate with our officiant and wedding party to ensure a smooth flow for our rehearsal. On our wedding day, Melanie and her staff were super attentive and available throughout the entire day and night (from getting ready in the bridal suite to packing up all the decor at the end of the night) to ensure everything went smoothly. The set-up of the venue for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception was perfect, and all the decorations were set-up beautifully. Every detail was accounted for! The food and drinks were so delicious for both the rehearsal dinner and on our wedding day! We had so many compliments from our guests regarding the food and venue itself- they loved the picturesque outdoor space and charm of the venue. My husband and I had our wedding at Fox Hopyard in June and it was amazing. Melanie goes above and beyond and she truly made planning a wedding nowhere near as stressful as I anticipated. She not only is responsive and extremely helpful but also so professional. The day would not have run as smoothly and effortlessly without her. The food was amazing and the presentation was beautiful. Everyone kept commenting on how pretty everything was set up and the ice cream sundae bar and French fry station were definitely peoples favorites. Our wedding was everything we wanted and more! My son just had his wedding at On the Rocks. It was AMAZING! Melanie was so professional and spent the day making sure we loved everything. She was quick with emails and went above and beyond all of our requests. She gave great advice and helped make decisions. The food was fantastic, our guests are still talking about the clam chowder. Every menu item was delicious and beautifully served. We had a gorgeous weather day and i don't think there was anything to improve. The staff was awesome, so friendly and helpful. Amazing, Happy Experience & Beautiful Venue
We could not be happier that we chose On the Rocks/Fox Hopyard! We had our ceremony and reception there in Oct 2021, and I am still hearing from guests how beautiful the location was. Planning during the pandemic could have been difficult, but Melanie made it a breeze — the location was unbelievably beautiful for a fall wedding (our pictures took my breath away!), the food was phenomenal, and the venue was the PERFECT mix of elegant and comfortable. Melanie was extremely quick, professional, and responsive and the venue was so accommodating. Everyone commented how wonderful the staff was the entire night. We had a late-Oct wedding that turned very cold, and the venue ensured we had the perfect amount of heaters for the pavilion. The added bonus of a gorgeous bridal suite just topped it off! Truly a very, very happy, comfortable, easy experience at a wonderful price. I could not have dreamed of better, and am so grateful we found it. -

We had such a great experience with On the Rocks. Since we were organizing during COVID restrictions, the staff was fantastic with accommodating our requests and working with us to make sure we were able to celebrate our bride.
The staff were all so great and friendly.
The location was beautiful, spacious, and fit our need perfectly.
The food and drinks were delicious and our guests told us they were very pleased with their meals. -

Truly Awesome Wedding
My daughter and son-in-law just got married here in Sept 2020. This venue is GORGEOUS! Their guests have been gushing about how wonderful and truly amazing the entire day was. Too many compliments to include them all in this review. Everything was perfect, in spite of COVID-19. Melanie and her staff were attentive to every detail and patient with all the re-planning as rules continued to change. On their special day, the food was delicious and picture perfect! The chef was so detailed-oriented that he designed a scrumptious menu that kept food allergies in mind so that there were no issues for anyone in attendance. The serving staff was fantastic! I could not have been any happier!!! Use them and you will have a spectacular day as well! -

Gorgeous venue
We got rejected from a lot of venues for our 100 person wedding being too small, but we were just the right size for On the Rocks. Planning went very smoothly with Melanie, who was always accommodating of my emails, even when I accidentally emailed her on her days off a few times. The bridal suite was perfect for everything, and we were able to order food to be brought up for lunch. The ceremony space was fantastic, and has the added bonus of a roof in case it had rained. The photo locations all over are gorgeous, and my photographer was really pleased with all the options. Our reception was great, all the guests loved the space. We added bistro lights and the fire pit and both were perfect. The food was also incredible! We knew it would be good after our tasting, but so many of our guests came up to tell us it was some of the best wedding food they had ever had, which is hard to get perfect when you're serving 100 people at once. My husband and I were married here on February 9th, 2019. This was such a beautiful, perfect venue!! I wouldn't change a thing! Melanie was so amazingly helpful and welcoming throughout our entire planning process and she went the extra mile to keep things running smoothly on wedding day.
We managed to have an 'outdoor wedding' in February without being cold at all! -- we had tent flaps with windows put up around the pavilion and had our ceremony overlooking the gorgeous landscape. Plenty of heaters, worked amazingly!
The catering via On The Rocks was really well done, too. You can choose between plated entrees or self serve manned stations. We did the stations and it was great, it allowed mingling and energized the mood, and everyone got to pick something they actually liked to eat!
Overall, I have to say I can't recommend the venue enough! Our day was more than everything I dreamed it could be and we truly couldn't be happier. Thank you guys so much, and I hope all of the future couples will love it as much as we did.On the Rocks Restaurant at Fox Hopyard's reply:

She found Navy table runners for us last minute and helped with any other last minute items we needed help with. We could not have picked a better place for our wedding. Everyone raved about the food and everything went smoothly! My girls loved the mimosas provided by the Hopyard. I loved being able to just drop of my decorations and not worry about a thing.
