Thankful for the Occasions Team!

The team at Occasions were great to work with for our wedding. They curated a menu for our big day that matched exactly what we wanted. We were able to do our tasting, where we not only tasted our menu items, but also saw what the place settings would look like and the options that there were. It was a great experience. On the day of, the catering team was timely and professional. The food turned out incredible and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. Our guests even commented on how good the food was. It was delicious and presented so well. Overall, if you’re looking for a reliable and tasty catering company, look no further!

Beyond my expectations

Karla and team were beyond professional, helped with all of the last minute details at the venue (arranging tables etc.), service was timely, and most important the food was excellent. All of our guests indicated that the food was exceptional. I could not recommend Occasions Catering higher.

Delicious food!

Most weddings I go to, the food is just something to get through. The food from Occasions, however, was not just “good food for a wedding,” but great food for anywhere. We had guests rave about the chili-rubbed flank steak, and the wild mushroom lasagna was a delicious and filling entree for the vegetarians in the house. Jay, the event captain, and his staff were attentive and friendly—they made sure everyone, but especially the bride and groom, had everything they needed. We really enjoyed working with them and would highly recommend.

Amazing Food and Service

We absolutely loved working with Occasions Catering! With COVID we had to push our original date and Occasions made it much less stressful to have to replan everything. They were so accommodating to different dietary restrictions for our guests, worked very efficiently day of, and the staff was so incredibly kind. The food was amazing, we still have people, now months later, that reference how great our wedding food was and how its the best they've ever had at a wedding! Couldn't recommend Occasions more!

Look no further

Katie Quinn and the team at Occasions Catering were really the backbone of our wedding day. The attention to details, expertise, and professionalism were noticed by all of our guests. I really appreciated how thorough they were when creating our final day lay out and how thoughtful they were when accommodating several dietary restrictions for our guests. The passed apps, buffet dinner, desserts were all delicious and the bartending staff was also incredible. They made rescheduling our wedding during the pandemic seamless and I would hire them 100x over. Yes, they have a higher price point, but are truly worth every penny. Thank you, Occasions!

Incredible food and service you can count on

We used Occasions, with Katie Quinn as our event coordinator) four years ago at my daughter's wedding and were thrilled. Now it was the for my own wedding, and Occasions and Katie were the obvious choices. Once again, FABULOUS. The food and service for our small, casual wedding brunch was just as amazing as the food and service at my daughter's large, elegant evening wedding in 2017. And once again, we felt like Katie's and Occasion's most important client.

AMAZING! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Getting married during a pandemic is stressful, changing your wedding plans 2.5 weeks before the big day is stressful, but finding Katie at Occasions Catering made the process so smooth and amazing! Not only was she responding to emails at ALL hours of the day and night, the menu came together beautifully, the presentation of the food was beautiful, and the food was even better than I could’ve dreamed! All of the staff at the wedding were so kind and helpful. I couldn’t imagine having anyone else catering our wedding at this point! I would highly recommend using them if you’re looking for a great reliable, friendly, and delicious catering company for your big day!

We would hire them again!

They catered our daughter's wedding and it was perfect. Everyone raved about the food - appetizers, salad, entrees and desserts. The service was attentive and gracious. We worked with Katie Quinn who was fabulous.; she was our point person. The salmon was delicious and the filet was cooked to perfection and so delicious. The mini trio of desserts were a big hit (the mini creme brulee was amazing!). The appetizers - tomato soup with grilled cheese, poached pear with sangria & blue cheese and a brie tart with lingoberry on top were so good. Thank you for a memorable evening for our daughter's wedding!

Amazing!!!

Our experience with Occasions could not have been better. We worked with Victoria Spizzirri, Elri Nieuwenhuizen, and Katie Quinn, and all three were so helpful and wonderful (especially during COVID-19). They provided dinner and dessert at our wedding; it was so delicious and beautifully served. Our guests were raving! Above and beyond!

Occasions couldn't have been a more perfect caterer for our wedding. Katie was our contact throughout the planning process, which was quite a roller coaster during COVID-19. Katie and the team at Occasions were there for us every step of the way, which can not be said for some of our other originally-planned vendors. They were flexible & willing to work with us when we had to change our venue, alter our timeline, and reduce our guest count. They sent a service staff of all team leaders for our wedding reception, which made for amazing, above-and-beyond service. And the FOOD! The passed hors d'oeuvres, salads, and entree selections were all so delicious and memorable. Chef D and her team prepared us a truly excellent wedding day meal. Occasions was everything we could have asked for and more. We can't thank them enough for providing us the meal of our dreams on our special day.

Outstanding Caterer - We could not be more impressed!

Occasions provided the catering and beverage service for our wedding earlier this month, and we were incredibly impressed by the professionalism, care, and communication of the staff all throughout the planning process. From our tasting to the last minute details, Katie and Letty were helpful in answering all of our questions and offering suggestions to work within our budget while accommodating our requests for meals that every guest could enjoy. During our wedding, the team worked behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly, and I couldn't be more appreciative of how pleasant the staff members were. Occasions' pricing was very competitive, and our guests loved the food! We would highly recommend them.

Delicious, Creative Food

Food was one of our biggest highlights on our wedding day. Katie and her team worked with us to create a menu that represented our favorite foods! We opted to doing a stations model AND a late night menu, which allowed all of our guests to eat plenty of food without the long wait. The team was friendly, responsive, and kind. We couldn't have found a better caterer (and we researched at least 4 or 5). Occasions' tasting experience exceeded all of our expectations. Loved working with them!

Delicious BBQ for Wedding

Occasions did the catering for our July wedding, and I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a wedding caterer! We wanted our wedding to feel like more of a laid-back, outdoor affair so we went with the BBQ buffet, and LOVED it – especially the mac n cheese :) Katie and Letty were super responsive during the planning process, and they were SO accommodating with all of the strict dietary restrictions and allergies that we had in our group. Occasions Catering was AMAZING! Katie and her team truly brought the wedding of our dreams to life!
The food was wonderful! We got to do a private tasting before we chose the final menu and they made it very personalized to us. We got to try every item on our menu. They even did a second mini-tasting when we decided we wanted to change to Mac & Cheese!
Occasions Catering truly bent over backwards to make sure everything was perfect, organized and ready for the big day. And when it came to the wedding, I didn’t have to worry about anything as they had it covered.
The staff was very friendly, bar tenders were great, and everything went off flawlessly!
I would recommend Occasions Catering for any wedding or other event needs!

We had the pleasure of working with Occasions Catering as our food and dessert vendor for our wedding. Occasions stepped in when our original caterer backed out and proved why we should have gone with Occasions in the first place! We worked with Occasions Catering for our September 2016 wedding at Hudson Gardens and couldn’t have been more pleased with them! From the initial meeting to the tasting to the walk through to the night of, they were professional, friendly, and efficient. Lynn Hubert, who was our event coordinator, is simply fabulous – She has years of experience, is well prepared and is just so much fun to work with. Victoria Spizzirri was our night of coordinator and was fantastic – She made sure we were taken care of, food and drink wise, and made sure everything ran smoothly with her staff and the venue.
Occasions has tons of menu options, and we really enjoyed working with them to create a unique menu for our event with some French nods and fun options, like mini desserts in lieu of a traditional cake. Most importantly, all of their food is delicious! So many of our guests told us it was the best “wedding” food they’d ever eaten. They are competitively priced and will work with you on sticking to your budget. They also help with any and all rentals you may need (linens, easels, etc).
We highly recommend working with Occasions Catering – You won’t be disappointed.

Wow. There are no words. Jeremy Bronson at Occasions is the man behind the magic, and he is amazing. He had us at hello, and the goat-cheese chive potatoes and macaroni and cheese bar sealed the deal. Jeremy and his staff are exceptional; they made us our own special plates of passed cocktail snacks and dinner fare so that my now-husband and I could be sure to eat during the reception. Not only was the food beyond compare (and people just can't stop talking about the macaroni and cheese with pernod!), Jeremy and his staff really care about you and your day. They listen to your vision and plan their plating and presentation around that. For example, we had a lot of rustic decor and sunflowers, so Occasions used birch or aspen risers and re-used our sunflower sprays from the ceremony on the stations to echo that detail.

More than that, Jeremy actually saved the day. There was a snafu with one of our other vendors two weeks before the wedding and, at the final walk through, it looked like there was no way to fix the problem. All of the sudden, Jeremy piped up that he had been texting with a good friend of his, who was available the day of the wedding. Jeremy put us in touch with his friend - and we had a new vendor lined up that afternoon. He helped us avert a potential catastrophe, and I am so grateful for his kindness, emotional intelligence, and ability to problem solve on the fly.

Occasions is unparalleled - the food is delicious; the staff is excellent and kind; and the company (and Jeremy in particular!) goes out of its way to make you feel special, important, and loved. So look no more - Occasions is the best choice out there!

The food was one of our favorite parts of our wedding! We worked with Holly and I can't sing her praises enough. She was amazing to work with throughout the whole process and worked with our budget while coming up with innovative ideas to solve problems that came up. On the wedding day, everything went perfectly and if there were any problems, I didn't know about them. I would recommend Occasions to everyone, especially brides that are on a budget but don't want any of their guests to realize they are!

We worked with Lynn at Occasions and she was wonderful! Very helpful, worked with us on last minute decision making and I never felt like I was out of the loop. On the day of the wedding everything seemed to run seamlessly. The food was to die for and the staff was incredibly helpful. I would recommend Occasions to anyone planning an event or wedding! We used them for our wedding. Great price (under budget) and we picked their backyard BBQ menu which was fantastic! We had a small country wedding with 100 people and the food was amazing. They served my husband and I all night. They made sure we had anything we needed. They even gave us a "Togo" box for the hotel. If you choose them- you have to try their Mac n Cheese! It's to die for!!!! Thanks Occasions!

Our caterer was the real star at our wedding. Everyone was so impressed with the quality of the food, the hustle of the staff, and the over-all service that they provided. I was a hard sell on the cost of a catering company and paying for all of the services, but by the end of my experience with Occasions, I wish I had let them plan the entire thing. Jeremy, one of the owners, is one of the most professional and straight forward people that we dealt with in this whole process. He really knew what he was doing, let us have our crazy ideas but explained the reality of the situation, and always answered our questions. I can only expect that the people who work for him are held to the same expectations.

We really appreciated occasions and the wonderful event they threw for us. We couldn't be happier.

Occasions was an amazing caterer to work with for our wedding. We worked with Brandi who was probably my favorite vendor. She was very helpful--listened to us throughout the process (took into account our price limits, our dietary restrictions, etc.) and made it very easy to make sure everything was perfect. Then there is the food-it was amazing! We got endless compliments on everything--the tasty little grilled cheese and tomato soup in mini mugs for appetizers, the best macaroni and cheese we've ever had for dinner, and all the delicious dessert shooters. We were hoping for left overs the next day but our guests seriously dug in. Brandi also took care of our linens and a few cocktail table orders for us. She made everything really easy and in the end it was really everything would could have imagined!

The staff at Occasions were delightful to work with. Katie Seno was an incredible event designer, and her experience and advice made for easy and confident decisions. This is the best food I've ever had at a wedding, and I'm so glad we had Occasions cater our big day. We worked directly with Dana to arrange everything. She provided us with some sample menus to get an idea of what was possible, then set up a tasting...the fun part. We had a sampling of items we liked from their sample menu, and a couple things they made for us that were not on the menu. Everything tasted delicious. We loved the flavor of the flatiron steak but ended upgrading to a more tender cut since we love steak so much. We also had a delicious salmon dish and a few sides to go along.

Working with Dana made the process very easy. Once we had the menu set, she took care of everything else. On our wedding day, their staff brought us appetizers so we wouldn't miss out on cocktail hour as we got a few photos with our family. My husband and I made it a point to set aside some time to actually eat our meal...and we were not disappointed. Their setup was beautiful as well- we did a seated salad, then served the entrees buffet-style. I have never seen such an elegant buffet before- it is not your traditional burners-below the chafing dish kind of display. We received so many compliments on our food. They even packed up the leftovers for us and we are still enjoying it! Everything was unbelievably delicious.

The staff was also wonderful during the event. They set up everything perfectly and were very friendly to our guests. They worked great with our venue and other vendors, and had a seamless execution. We cannot say enough wonderful things about Occasions Catering!

If I could give more stars I would. I loved working with Alaneyer to create a menu for the wedding that was creative, bold and delicious. I can't say enough good things about Alaneyer and the team at Occasions by Sandy.
They listened to all of my crazy ideas and put together a delicious, unique and fabulous menu for us. Their facility is top notch and at the tasting - before we'd even hired them - we got to taste every item and meet the chef. They really impressed me at every step, even researching and creating a Canadian dish that we wanted that they'd never heard of! The food was perfect! Set up and take down went flawlessly and the staff was nothing short of amazing. They were constantly making sure I was okay and that I had enough to eat and drink - SO THOUGHTFUL! Alaneyer evens aved the day by talking us through the cake cutting moment. We hadn't really even though about it, but she was right there with the utensils reminding us to cutwith our left hands so the photos would turn out. All of that is just icing on the cake though, because the best part was the food itself!! It was delicious!! Our guests were SO impressed! I honestly don't think you can get better than Alaneyer and the folks at Occasions by Sandy!

Occasions catering is a phenomenal company with amazing staff, food, and prices. We worked with Holly, who made sure we were happy with the menu, worked hard to fit our budget, and was quick to communicate details and answer questions. They were also very willing to accommodate dietary restrictions for vegetarians and allergies; they also have many great tasting gluten free options. The tasting was a wonderful experience, but the best was by far how it all turned out on the wedding day. We had guests (who are very picky about food) comment on how beautiful it looked, that it tasted amazing, and that the serving staff were incredible. I cannot say enough about how great our experience was and recommend them for any wedding or event. Ours is a wedding where guests are still talking about the food!

Joshua was amazing. Very responsive, which I found rare when I was looking for bid, put together exactly what I wanted for my menu, which was somewhat non-traditonal and basically acted as a wedding planner taking care of rentals and a lot of other details both before the wedding and the day of. All agreed Joshua was definitely a value-add. I cannot say enough good things about him!

Food was very important to my husbands family as they are all from Sicily, and had high expectations. They were not let down! At our tasting we knew Occasions with Sandy had the best food. We had tasted others, but Occasions with Sandy stood out. Not only did the food stand out, but their personal service did as well. Originally Alaneyer was helping us, but she went on to another position, but it was her personal interest and investment that sealed the deal for us. Joshua, who picked up where she left off, (at the end, so we didn't get to know him too well) did a great job as well, very personable and friendly but also took care of what needed to get done. The homemade butternut squash ravioli was a HUGE hit with all of the Italians, they were even asking for more! The salad with fresh fig was the perfect touch, followed by the main course which was ok.
The service was fantastic, our wine glasses were always full and the staff was very courteous. We were VERY pleased with the Occasions with Sandy, and I highly recommend them!

Excellent Experience

Highly recommend Occasions to handle your wedding catering needs. The food was fantastic, their staff was very on point and ensured the evening went smoothly and Katie and Kristen made the process very easy! We hired Occasions for our wedding catering for our wedding on 10/22/22 in Morrison, CO, they supplied appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts and handled the bar, set up our centerpieces, cut our cake, brought us champagne & appetizers while we took photos, etc. The planning process was smooth and Katie ensured all of my needs were met. Kristen was our day of the contract and was incredible! I would hire them again for any catering needs!

Delicious Southern Twist

They did a fantastic job! Lynn, who I coordinated with regarding all things catering, went above and beyond to incorporate mine and my husband’s southern roots and traditions. Personally, I do not like salads, but I know most people do, so I sent Lynn a very specific recipe for a baked brussel sprout leaves salad which the chefs nailed! I’m so thankful I took her advice and added some passed hors d'oeuvres for all our guests last minute. I can’t say enough great things about the team at Occasions Catering! They are full of creative suggestions too if needed. The only thing I would have done differently is ordered our wedding cake from a company who specializes solely on cakes, everything else was absolutely perfect and delicious!

You want Lynn on your team!

Occasions were the best! Everyone raved about our Mac-n-cheese bar, the fusion burritos, and everything else. Their staff was so professional, we didn’t even have to get up (or step away from our guests) to get our plates!! I also want to give Lynn a HUGE shout-out, she knows her stuff and I couldn’t have done it without her! I hadn’t realized how much caterers run the flow of the evening until Lynn impressed us with her preparation and questions during the process. Also, our tasting was one of the highlights of wedding planning honestly. Fantastic job Occasions and Lynn!!

Our venue required that we select from a list of about 5 caterers of their choosing, so that is how we found Occasions. They were definitely the most responsive out of the 5. We fell in love at our tasting meeting. They were so accommodating, professional, and thoughtful. They really pulled out all the stops! They had wide range of menus and pricing options. I feel like the option we selected was quite reasonable, but costs do add up. Overall the food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and everyone we worked with was so friendly and helpful! We are so glad we used Occasions for our wedding!

We lost our caterer mid-planning for our wedding. We tried to find another caterer that was in our budget, and it felt impossible. Then we found Occasions, not only were they in our budget, but they were amazing. The eased our minds, were incredibly flexible with everything we wanted, and gave us amazing food and service on the day of. We had so many people compliment the wedding food that night. And no one ever likes wedding food- let's be honest- most of the time it's terrible. But we were really happy with how everything turned out.

Occasions by Sandy was wonderful for our wedding. The food was amazing and they were so willing to work with us on our menu and change some of our appetizers. They also worked with us on our dessert and changed up the service for this course also. On the day of the wedding they were extremely professional and communicated with us and our parents throughout the whole evening to make sure everything was going okay. I would definitely recommend this company to someone else.

Choosing Occasions by Sandy to cater our wedding was a no-brainer. They were so fun to work with and had great and creative ideas to make our reception one of a kind. The food and service was phenomenal! Our guests were so impressed by the creative menu and the quality of the food. They were flexible and able to help us arrange for additional items at the last minute when the weather was unexpectedly poor. Occassions Catering truly made our day one to remember! Not only was the food delicious--our families talked about for days after as "the best wedding food" they've ever had--but Victoria was absolutely wonderful during planning. She worked with us on our budget, and also made sure to clarify all the fees. She also helped us with the rental process for linens, and Occassions staff helped dress our tables with our favors the day of.

Ours was a destination wedding, and we wanted to throw a big "family dinner" for all of our friends and family coming in from all over. She helped us put together a delicious family style dinner that would encourage people to pass shared plates and talk to each other. And for real, the steak is delicious. All of the meat is cooked on site, so no "rubber" chicken either.

She also prepared a tasting day that was AMAZING. We sampled our entire menu and made changes that day. We even went home that day with "bride and groom" chocolate-dipped strawberries.

We really can't say enough great things about Occassions and Victoria. Delicious food, the right price and wonderful to work with!

We loved having Occasions cater our wedding reception meal! We did a taco buffet, which looked stunning and tasted amazing. The staff was always friendly and willing to help with what we needed and recommended appetizers, desserts, and rental company based on what our wedding vision was. We initially chose Occasions because we were able to hire someone from their team do help with our venue decor setup, since we didn't have a wedding planner. We were so glad we ended up choosing them because the night was wonderful. My only negatives were that the taco shells on the buffet fell apart (but it is difficult to mass produce stretchy corn tortillas), and there were times while I was planning that I was waiting for weeks for a reply email from the event coordinator (which ended up being no big deal).

We used Occasions Catering for my rehearsal dinner. We had "upscale BBQ" with fried chicken, brisket, mashed potatoes, salad, and chilled veggies. The food was good and the staff that helped us was very courteous and willing to make the rehearsal dinner a special event leading up to THE event. She was able to come up with several other dessert options when the venue refused to let us have a s'mores bar. My only complaint was that the mashed potatoes at the tasting were not especially tasty. They had a weird texture (sort of soupy). However, at the rehearsal dinner, the potatoes tasted and looked like potatoes. All in all, it was a lovely experience.

Amazing food and very easy to work with. Many times the food at a tasting is so much better than what you actually get the day of the wedding, but with Occasions the flavors and quality remained consistent. We were very pleased with the service provided and the overall experience. Highly recommend!

Occasions Catering was absolutely fabulous for our wedding. They worked closely with us to set a menu in our price range yet fit with our guests' dietary restrictions. We got nothing but positive reviews of the food from guests.

Our contact and day of coordinator Michelle was so helpful, always responded quickly to emails, and never got frustrated with us for all of our questions.

The servers were so attentive the day of the wedding - even when we were taking photos, they were sure to come over and get appetizers to us. The bartender was friendly and on top of getting drinks to everyone. When we ran out of beer, even though it was not at all Occasions responsibility, it was the fault of our beer provider Great Divide Brewery, they went out immediately and got us more at a a great price.

Delicious!

We had a hard time finding a caterer, largely due to the fact that we didn’t have a lot of time for tastings. The food at our tasting was good, in combination with a beautiful delivery. The food and service on our wedding day wound up exceeding our expectations. Becky was stuck on I-70 behind mudslides and was unable to attend the wedding (leave it to Colorado). Andrew took lead of the evening and did a fantastic job! He was incredibly attentive and checked in personally with my husband and I several times. The food was delicious and we received so many compliments from our guests! We have no regrets in our choice and would absolutely recommend them.

Occasions was great! They customized a wonderful menu for our wedding and our guests went back for thirds! We were afraid that we were going to have a lot of leftovers because some guests ended up not coming and we almost didn't have any at all! The biggest hit was the mac & cheese and s'mores at the end of the night.

We worked with Michelle at Occasions and she was amazing. She was always responsive and helped in every way. I would recommend Occasions any day!

I'd say the service was good, there was a mess up with some of our food. After the tasting we had asked for stuffed shells instead of Rigatoni and on the day of we got rigatoni. There were a few other small things but for the most part the food and the service were good. The catering coordinator did an good job working with other vendors and keeping things on track.

Had I written this review a few days before the wedding, Occasions would have been 5 stars without question. Upon booking, Dana was always responsive. Their responsiveness was the main reason we chose Occasions. We thought the tasting was delicious and were so happy with our selection at the reception. Our guests really enjoyed the food station selection and appetizers. The catering crew were nice and professional. We found Occasions prices very competitive and included the basic china and utensils. Dana also coordinated directly with the rental company on our other needs and was very helpful at the walk through.

Unfortunately, as the wedding got closer they weren't as responsive as they had originally been. In addition, at the wedding reception one of the two custom made, hand blown champagne glasses was broken by a member of the catering company. Although my husband and I did not see, we did have guests who saw it happen. Given this was our wedding, we are not going to make a scene about a broken champagne glass but the fact that they didn't even own up to or apologize was extremely disappointing. These two champagne glasses costs a few hundred dollars and something we planned to keep, so the fact that Dana didn't admit or apologize was a let down.

Overall, happy with the service.

Jeremy was amazing to work with, but unfortunately, he was not the one at our event to make it go smoothly. The staff were unorganized and seemed to not have a clue what was going on. I had planned for 2 chocolate fountains and ended up with one very small one that I could have purchased at Target and the white chocolate in a CROCK POT. Needless to say, I was not happy! The staff was confused and didn't pay much attention to timing of things like the toast. The broach that was used on the cake was not returned to me and is still missing! After they cut the cake, who knows what they did with it! The hot chocolate bar was not how it was supposed to be, they actually put hot water in one of the urns with cocoa mix! The crepes and dessert shots were fabulous, but I wouldn't use them again. As I said, Jeremy was wonderful, but too many things went wrong. I would give 0 stars on Quality of Service but Jeremy was great! They did compensate me a little, but not enough to have the perfect evening messed up. Even some of my guests commented on the tacky crock pot. I was embarrassed.

We were overall disappointed in our choice of Occasions by Sandy. The food itself was great at the reception itself, but getting there was quite the chore. We originally worked with Alaneyer, and I don't know if she was overworked or simply not paying attention, but we asked for a number of changes (specific salads, stuffed pear instead of stuffed fig, coulis served with the cake instead of a chocolate covered strawberry...). After asking for the changes in person and via email several times, the contract was still incorrect and the food served at our tasting was not what we had asked for!

Adding to the frustration was that our contract listed rentals (chairs, etc.) and alcohol, but we only found out two days before the wedding that the prices for Occasions by Sandy to subcontract Applejacks liquor and Event Rents were not included, so the cost was double what we expected!!!

Alaneyer was not present for our wedding, so we had to do some extra site visits to get her replacement, Josh, up to speed (and we did this around both of their schedules). Josh did a MUCH better job, although I was disappointed that no one mentioned that our rentals would show up at my in-laws an hour and a half before our wedding coordinator was there to manage vendors, leaving them to move cars out of the garage to handle tables and chairs.

After all the fiasco, the food itself was good, but if you use Occasions by Sandy, please ask for Josh.

Our experience was really good at first. We were assigned to their Event Coordinator Katie and she was very nice and accomodating. The food tasting went really well besides the vegetables being slightly burnt. The steak was perfect and one of the best we ever had to be honest. We were very excited to book our wedding with Occassions Catering.
When our wedding day came, we were very disappointed. They were supposed to bring our wedding party of 12 appetizers in our bridal suite and unfortunately only brought enough appetizer for 4 people. They didn’t have enough appetizers and steak for our guests.
Additionally, after we cut our wedding cake - they were supposed to cut the rest of our cake in the kitchen and bring it back out for our guests. Once the cake went to the kitchen it never came back out and our cake topper went missing. So, our guests didn’t have cake. What kills me is our cake topper was a special gift to us and had sentimental value to us. To this day we still haven’t found our cake topper.
We are very disappointed and sad. The food was delicious and they were so nice in the beginning, but when our special day came they really let us down. Our event designer Katie told us she would stop by the day of our wedding and she never showed up. Which was also very disappointing. It made us feel like she didn’t care about our special day. Also, her patience was running low closer to our wedding day and it was apparent. Weddings are such a stressful time and it didn’t help that once our important day came she was MIA and all these mishaps happen. We were counting on Occasions Catering to pull through to help make our day special. I really liked Katie and trusted her to make sure that our wedding day ran smoothly. Her not showing up was a huge disappointment and a slap in our face. She should have communicated to us that she wasn’t coming or should have sent someone else to make sure that things were running smooth. I regret booking with Occasions.

I had originally contracted with Purple Avacado catering for my rehearsal dinner in October of 2010. Occasions by Sandy purchased the Purple Avacado and told me they'd be taking over my event. Despite already having a signed contract, their sales rep re-did the contract, added over $1000 in fees (to a $1000 event), doubling the cost. He also changed all the quantities on the items, totally contrary to what I had asked for, saying that he knew better than me what I needed and what I could afford. It took about 5 revisions of the new contract after mistake by mistake was made (wrong address, wrong time, wrong phone numbers, etc). At this point I insisted on coming in for a new tasting and to meet face-to-face to try to sort this out. I also told them that if they couldn't do my event the way it was contracted at first, they could just give me my deposit back and we could go our seperate ways. The sales rep insisted that they wanted to cater my event. We met, and they seemed a little more with-it, but certainly more concerned with the details of the food (important!) than the details on the contract (also important). I paid in full a few days before the event (where mistakes were AGAIN made on my credit card). The day of the event, OBS was supposed to arrive at 5pm to begin set-up for a 5:30 event, per the contract. I called at 5:15, and was told they were about half an hour away (!) and they thought set up was to begin at 5:30. They also requested directions. They arrived at 5:45 to begin set up, and all of my family and friends had to pitch in to assist them set up the event. The food was finally ready around 6:15, almost one-third of the way through the event. When I hired them, I had not anticipated that my family and friends would miss part of the event to help them set up. If that had been my plan, I would have ordered pizza. When I contacted OBS after I returned from my honeymoon to complain, I recieved a brush-off from the president, who told me it was my fault that they didn't have enough time to set up. There would have been enough time to set up, had they showed up on time. The president also accused me of having contradictory stories with his staff, and did not return my call when I offered to show him my phone records to prove what time I called, or to get a second opinion from my mother in law who ended up carrying chafing trays in her nice dress. Now, the food was good, but I would not hire them again, nor would I recommend them to anyone else because of these obvious customer service problems, and desire to be accusatory and combative with customers, rather than address their grievances. I do not enjoy posting negative reviews of vendors, and try to give everyone a fair shake, but OBS has issues that need to be addressed and future customers should be warned!

Occasions is super unprofessional. I am a person who is always prepared and plans ahead, I entered into my wedding day feeling totally at ease because I knew that we had taken care of every detail possible. Our wedding day is tainted by Occasion’s incompetence. Here is a recap of our experience: 1. No tables were reserved for our immediate family during the wedding reception/dinner. In our tasting consult our Event Designer specifically asked if we were going to have reserved tables and made note of it. Following the wedding, when I asked our Event Designer why the tables were not marked reserved, she said that it was the client’s responsibility to provide reservation markers, and the that it was a miscommunication on both parts that we didn’t understand that. If Occasions does not have "reserved" markers (which is absurd for a large catering company to not have), then we should have been told. It was not a "miscommunication" but a misrepresentation on their part. Why would you ask about reserved tables if you do not do anything with them? I would have happily brought reservation signs if I knew I needed them, it is a really easy thing to do! Due to this misrepresentation, we had to ask guests to move after they had already started eating so that my parents didn’t have to sit at the farthest table away from my husband and I. 2.The buffet food ran out, and some of our adult guests had to eat chicken fingers for dinner. We had provided an accurate head count, which included vendors. No unexpected guests arrived. 3. The wedding party was never offered or served the passed appetizers. This was really disappointing, since we spent extra money to add the special touch. 4. My husband and I’s sweetheart table was NEVER bussed. Our dirty dishes sat on our table all night. 5. My husband and I were not served champagne for the champagne toast. 6.We also never once saw our Event Designer, during the whole night. Occasions should be embarrassed at the way our wedding was ran.
