    Incredible! I could not have asked for more in a wedding planner. I would recommend her services to friends and family. Professional, responsive, organized, knowledgable, imaginative. Our wedding was a dream. I felt as if she was my big sister through the process. She was always there to guide me through decisions and ensure that I got everything I wanted at the end of the day. Planning a destination wedding can be a challenge but she took all of the difficulty away and made it the the joyous time that it is sopposed to be. I can't wait to renew my vows!

    She made my wedding a stress-free, successful event. She took care of every detail and was extremely easy to work with. I would recommend her for anyone looking to hire a wedding planner.

    Caribbean Planning was the best choice I made (besides the groom!) for the my destination wedding. Olga and Nyvette were always two steps ahead and anticipated everything I wanted to ask about setting up for my special event. On the wedding day, Nyvette took great care of all the guests and definitely the entire wedding party. I truly did not have to worry about following up with the contracted vendors (those that were agreed to in our contract), as she made sure they were all in place and on cue.

    We picked a special - non traditional song for my walk, and the guitarist they recommended was able to play it beautifully. It was a dream wedding in every way, down to the smallest detail.

    Nyvette is wonderful. She made our wedding absolutely perfect (literally there’s not a thing we would have changed). Being stateside, I had the mindset that the planner was the most consequential vendor. So she was the first vendor we booked and the majority of our subsequent vendors were her contacts. She is definitely well connected and all of her vendors are top notch. (Her favorite caterer, for example, is a mini-celebrity who has been on TV and has published a cookbook. And his food is delicious! Something very important to my husband and I.) As long as she is your planner, you will never run into any contract issues, vendors not showing up, etc. You will always see the contracts from the vendor and, depending on your and their level of English, you can work through Nyvette or directly with them (although always keep her in loop, it benefits you if she knows all that is going on.).

    Nyvette is very knowledgeable about all that involves putting on a wedding. She listens, wants to create your vision, and is especially mindful of your budget, constantly giving ideas as to how to save money. She knows the little details and logistics before you can even think to ask them! And I feel like she went above and beyond, giving us advice and assistance for our rehearsal dinner and even travel suggestions for our mini honeymoon that we took in Puerto Rico. It is wise to trust her. And in return, she will trust you. That mutual respect will go a long way to making your wedding amazing.

    There is only one negative, and it’s minor: responsiveness. It sometimes took a week or more to hear back from her. But I quickly learned that this is just “island time.” And so a bit of advice: if you are American and you are planning a wedding anywhere in the Caribbean, you will need to learn patience. Do not expect responses from any vendor right away. As long as you are aware of that from the beginning, wedding planning will be less stressful.

    With her expertise, logistical know-how, and vendor connections, I know that she saved us money and certainly lots of time. My husband and I also feel like we walked away from a perfect weekend with a new friend. There is so much more I could say, going into specific anecdotes about why Nyvette is extraordinary. But I think I’ve expressed well enough that Nyvette won’t lead you astray. Rather, she will plan your dream wedding in an idyllic location while being mindful of your needs and desires.

    I’ve started writing this recommendation about 20 times and I still don’t know exactly how or where to begin.

    Words cannot express how absolutely wonderful Nyvette was during the entire year of planning our Rincon, Puerto Rico wedding. As the coordinator (mastermind) of our Dec. 12th wedding she executed a perfect wedding weekend for us and for our 60 guests. She not only coordinated our wedding, she coordinated Welcome Pig Roast the night before – which was really an event all by itself. She coordinator the efforts of 16+ vendors and their staffs (it must have been over 80 people) for an entire weekend. She was always available, helpful, professional and most importantly (to me) committed to the success of our wedding weekend. Honestly, hiring her was my best idea in 2009 and I will forever be grateful to her and her team.

    One of my biggest concerns about hiring a wedding coordinator was that I didn’t want her/him to turn my wedding into something that wasn’t me – I didn’t want them to tell ME what I wanted and what I should do. Nyvette listened more than she talked – especially at the beginning. My wedding wasn’t your typical wedding and I now realize some of my ideas were a little off-the-wall …. yet, Nyvette didn’t discourage, she went with it and always offered up complimentary suggestions/ideas. Throughout, it was important for me to convey (and make sure it was understood) my vision for several major aspects of the weekend. I talked about my vision constantly with Nyvette and then I sent her many e-mails (poor woman) with the same thing I had just told her. She got it ….. and then some ….. after I had communicated everything I wanted and my vision – most of her suggestions/ideas were very much in line with my vision – down to the chef in costume with the machete cutting the pig *smile* - which was her idea.

    We worked together for almost an entire year and although I live/work in NYC – communication between us worked well. Status, To-Do lists, Next Steps were all communicated via e-mail and Nyvette was usually the one who initiated conference calls if we needed to clarify or further discuss anything. I can’t imagine that weekend being a success w/o honest communication throughout.

    Nyvette was always professional and her calm demeanor often reassured me. For example, Late September, the manager of our venue left and a new manager was hired in her place, this new manager immediately sent me an e-mail introducing herself (that was nice) and then asked me why I wouldn’t consider a beach wedding. Now, that may not seem like a big deal to most people (quite honestly, it doesn’t seem like a big deal to me right now) but back then ….. oh man ….. that was the first time I cried during the entire process. I was so frustrated and I didn’t know what to do so I sent Nyvette the following text message “Why does everyone insist on telling me how to get married? I hate beaches!” ….. (ok – a bit overdramatic – but it is the truth). Nyvette called me immediately and very calmly assured me that she would speak with the new manager and get her up to speed with ‘our’ vision. Problem solved.

    Overall, Nyvette was my partner for one year. She helped me plan the most important weekend of my life and then ran with it at the end. Throughout, she was AS committed to our wedding as we were and that meant a great deal. Although I know she had other clients in 2009 – I never felt as if my wedding was lower on her priority list – she was responsive and always available to answer questions or brainstorm. She appreciated and respected our budget at all times and she is very organized, something you do not really fully appreciate until you see her in action on the day of your wedding. Our year-long journey is an experience I never want to forget, I love Nyvette like a sister and expect to be friends for a lifetime – words cannot express how grateful Jorge and I are to her.



    Suggestions:

    1. If you decide to go with Nyvette, trust her and let her work with the vendors directly and be your intermediary. If you clearly communicate your vision to her, she will get your vendors in line and make sure your vision is realized. If you change your mind about something, it is probably best to tell Nyvette than call the vendor directly and have them think you are flighty or unreasonable. You do not want a vendor to think you are unreasonable – I imagine they would be less inclined to go the extra mile if you ‘told them a thing or two” during the planning phase. Aside from meeting with them the first time, I never really dealt with the vendors w/o Nyvette. All of my vendors went the extra mile that weekend, some of my guests asked if my decorator was David Tutera (*smile*) and our caterer amazed everyone on both nights (the food was amazingly good and fresh). My vendors loved me ….. or at least …. they didn’t hate me.

    2. The pace in Puerto Rico is a little slower than that of NYC (or a lot of metropolitan cities), be patient and adapt – and if you are having trouble doing so ….. you must really follow the first suggestion.

    Nyvette, provided us with excellent vendors. My wedding was stress free on my day knowing that she took care of every detail.
    Without her, I wouldn't have been able to meet all my vendors and venue.
    The vendors actually overpassed my expectations.
    I would recommed caribbean planning to any bride looking for a great wedding coordinator.

    It was an absolute joy working with Nyvette. She showed punctuality, professionalism, and showed she cared about our special day. When things weren't just right, she corrected them and when things came up unexpectedly, she made it work, flawlessly! It was a beautiful ceremony and reception and I own her many Thanks!!!

    After searching the internet and inquiring with several wedding planners, I selected Caribbean Planning as my vendor based on their services offered and price. Nyvette is the wedding planner and as I understand handles all of the events and planning for Puerto Rico. Admitedly I am a planner and like to have everything organized well in advance, so planning from another state was challenging to me because I had to go through a 3rd person to get answers to things...and I had a million questions. Even before we flew to PR, I was leary about how things were going to come together. But I have to say, once we arrived in Puerto Rico, I was so relieved we had Nyvette as our planner. She was very calm, patient..and definitely well connected. She helped us get our marriage license, had coordinated the DJ, cake, setup, rehearsal and payments to the vendors. She was even able to coordinate a last minute hairstyling appointment with her own stylist. By the time the wedding came, everything was in place and went very smoothly.
