Best seamstress ever

Niilah was incredible! I am very tall (5’11) and when my dress was ordered to my measurements, the dress did not fit to me like the sample size dress did (it was too big and was clamped during the appointments). This made my dress fit me a lot differently in the chest area and I stressed about it a lot. Nilah said we could get the dress in the sample size and she could take it in from the sides or we could add straps from the hemmed material. I ended up loving the straps and decided to go that route and I could not have been happier with how everything turned out. Nilah is decisive, confident, and dang good at her job! I recommend her to any Philly bride – she is so kind and my mom and I just adore her!

Trust Nilah with your dream dress!

Nilah took my dream dress vision and made it a reality! I went to Nilah about 6 weeks before my wedding, and we had 3 fittings. I had asked Nilah to add some off-the-shoulder sleeves and create a custom scarf in lieu of a veil, and she knocked it out of the park! And the fit was perfect. I had also brought in a vintage dress for our reception that Nilah shortened and fit to me. You can tell that Nilah is a pro and she gives great insight as well so it truly is a collaboration.

Nilah is exceptional, a true professional!

I wanted to give Nilah a big shout out. Being a wedding planner myself, picking someone to do my wedding dress alterations was important to me. Having people you can rely on, trust and just not worry about is a huge advantage when planning a large affair. She had gone above and beyond in helping me (even my mom too) and that is what a true wedding professional is all about. I am excited to pick up my dress on Wednesday from her. Also, brides, if you havent picked out your accessories, Nilah has a BEAUTIFUL and BOUNTIFUL collection. Its reasonably priced, but it is really fabulous quality. You can tell she takes time to source unique, yet practical items. Thank you Nilah for being awesome!

Wonderful experience

Nilah was very kind and helpful throughout the whole process. After buying my sample gown, I got quite nervous that the very intricate dress would be too big to alter to my size. She brought it from a 12 to about a 2 with no issues-- it fit so well no one could notice that it had been altered so drastically. She recommended and added a silk ribbon lining to my dress due to my sensitive skin. She created a bustle to highlight the details on my train. She pressed my dress and veil and it was ready to go on the day of the wedding with no additional work! She did a beautiful job and for a good price given the amount of work she had to do! I would definitely recommend her services!

Highest recommendation for Nilah!

Nilah and her incredible staff made the process of wedding dress alterations as easy as possible! My Enzoani Pearl dress was extremely intricate, and I needed a significant amount of alterations in the waist and hip areas. Nilah expertly tailored my dress so it fit exactly perfectly, without any evidence that it had ever been significantly altered. She was timely in making the alterations, squeezing in a second fitting the week of my wedding to ensure that my dress fit exactly as I wanted it to. She also pressed my gown and veil so perfectly that I didn’t even need to touch it up on my wedding day. I can’t recommend Nilah highly enough!

Five stars all the way! Amazing bridal alterations experience.

I can’t say enough good things about Nilah and Co.! My bridal dress shop immediately recommended Nilah for alterations, and I’m so glad they did. Appointments were quick and the final fit was PERFECT. Pricing was very reasonable and the quality was superb. It was so comforting that Nilah had worked with my dress designer before too. Nilah was fantastic to work with for my wedding dress alterations! We did multiple fittings and she spent the time to make sure everything looked and fit right. She also updated my veil so that it had a nicer metal comb versus the plastic it came with. She stored my dress through my postponed wedding and then steamed both my dress and veil so that it would be ready for the day. Thank you Nilah!

Perfect alterations for a reasonable price

Nilah altered my dress perfectly. On the day of my wedding I was so comfortable and everything felt secure. Throughout the alterations process, Nilah or one of her associates was available by phone or email to answer my questions or schedule a fitting. They were professional and did great work. I also got my veil from her and it was perfect. She helped me decide which style looked best with my dress and I am so happy with how it turned out. My sister and I got married this summer and she coordinated our appointments so we could share this experience--it was really special because of that!

Wonderful job with alterations

I took my second-hand dress to Nilah after losing some weight. Not only did she do a fabulous job with the alterations, but she also steamed the dress so that it looked brand-new on my wedding day. She also put in a zipper so that it was much easier for my mom to do up the back, while still leaving the beautiful buttons in place. When I have my reception next year, I will definitely use her again.

Beautiful and Easy

Nilah was an absolute dream to work with and made alterations on my wedding dress so easy. She was patient and flexible, communicative, and when the day came around my dress fit perfectly and I knew exactly what to do in terms of getting it on, bustling it, etc.

Nilah also made my veil, which matched my dress perfectly. I also asked her if there was anything she could do with the hem of my dress to give to my grandparents, and she made a pair of gorgeous fabric flowers for them that they absolutely loved and will treasure. Thanks, Nilah!

Nilah came highly recommended by Mari Mi Bridal, where I purchased my dress from. Nilah has many years of experience so I fully trusted her with the alteration – especially given that she is also a dressmaker. The result was great – the dress looked so much better once she altered it for me. She also provides cleaning and preservation service for the dress and veil, which is convenient for me! Lastly, she offered an additional last fitting for me given that I was flying internationally before the wedding –so thoughtful. **no hidden fee with my experience - I think that is rare!

So happy with my transformed dress and veil!

I entrusted Nilah with my mom's precious wedding dress and veil from the 80s and she turned it into my absolute dream dress! She clearly knows fabric like the back of her hand and had fantastic suggestions - from adding capped sleeves, which I had not considered initially but ended up loving, to choosing kitten heels over flats. She also transformed my mom's original veil, transferring the original lace onto a longer veil that blended in beautifully. I could not have been happier with the final product!

The Best Seamstress in Delco!

Nilah is amazing. She began working on my gown about 3 months prior to my wedding and from the beginning, I knew she was the best person for the job. My experience with Nilah was wonderful. First of all, she sized the dress well to me after my first fitting. She let me come back an extra time because I couldn't decide which bustle I wanted. I was able to walk around in it and see what felt comfortable for as long as I needed. And during my final fitting she spent extra time explaining how I can walk best in my dress (I was concerned because the dress has multiple layers and such) and gave me tips for kneeling, sitting and pictures. I asked for a few last adjustments before my wedding day to make me feel comfortable -- she made a miracle happen and did them so quick. Nilah is a true professional. I didn't know she did day of wedding coordination - if I did I would have asked her to do my wedding because just speaking with her I learned new things that will really help the day of my wedding. I would recommend Nilah and her team to anyone to make your dress look PERFECT on your big day. Thank you again for everything, Nilah!

The process was seamless. I received Nilah's information as a refferal, while my husband and I were out looking for tuxedos. I was able to book an appointment within a reasonable time frame of my wedding. I believe we were able to accomplish everything within two visits. My dress was altered with a pocket added to the skirt of my gown, to house my grandmother's wedding ring in her memory. I was very pleased with the results. Nilah was very knowledgeable and gave me three great pointers: 1) I didn't need a bra because of the boning in my dress, 2) Do not use spanx, and 3) learn how to use the toilet backwards. All of this information was gold, I used every piece of advice. I felt absolutely beautiful in my dress. I am thankful for her services and would definitely recommend her in the future.

I ordered my dress online. I loved everything about my dress but it was about 2 or 3 sizes too big and the top part was not perfectly designed. I took it to Nilah and she provided me with suggestions and never pressured me to have my dress altered at her store. She was very kind and patient. I decided to proceed with the alterations and I am so glad I did. During the process I also lost more weight so Nilah made a couple of alterations. She even offered an extra fitting the week prior to be sure my dress fit. My dress looked amazing and there were no accidents.

Nilah did the most beautiful job on my dress and veil. I came in needing very little in the way of alterations. She added in cups and took the bust of my beaded corset in a bit. She added tulle sleeves that were detachable. She made the most gorgeous cathedral length veil with crystals scattered throughout. She was patient and understanding when I wanted to spend extra time in the dressing room just staring at myself. Nilah and her team kept timelines for me, calling with ample time to schedule follow up appointments. They even provided guidance about what underwear to put on under my gown and how to put my veil in. When I get my act together, I'm going back to Nilah to clean and preserve my gown. Nilah did an AMAZING job altering my wedding dress. Nilah is professional, has an incredible attention to detail and can make all of your veil and wedding dress dreams come true.

My dress was incredibly fitted and made me extremely nervous. Additionally, I had to get the dress taken in a few times as I lost weight over the span of my engagement period. With each alteration appointment I became more and more confident in this dress as Nilah tailored it to perfection. Nilah also makes beautiful veils and my veil went with my dress perfectly.

One of the things I loved most about my dress was the way that Nilah bustled it. I had a long train and she bustled it into a double french bustle. it was INCREDIBLY elegant and brought a whole new dimension to the dress.

Finally, Nilah's prices are EXTREMELY FAIR. I had budgeted almost double the amount for alterations in comparison to what Nilah's alterations cost. The bottom line is that Nilah and Company is the full package in every way and if you want to have the most amazing dress and veil you will go to Nilah & Company!

Nilah and Company is quick to respond and did alterations on my wedding dress. I also purchased a lace Grace Kelly length (also known as waltz length) veil from Nilah. Nilah listened to me when I asked her not to make my dress too tight so I could dance. I also debated if I wanted a Juliet cap style veil or not and Nilah was able to meet with me a couple times so I could try on different options. Great service highly recommended for wedding dress alterations and veil purchases. The price is worth it. I paid $285 for the veil and $535 for alterations.

I bought my wedding gown at Elizabeth Johns in Ardmore, and Nilah was the first on their list of recommendations for alterations. I was thrilled that Nilah's office is located about a mile from my home in Havertown, PA.

Jennifer worked with me to set up appointments, provide pricing for accessories, and answer any questions that I may have had. She always greeted me and my guests at the door with a smile. When my schedule got a bit crazy, Jennifer patiently provided options for dates and times for fittings. She is an asset to Nilah's business!

Nilah herself was incredible - she made my gown into exactly what I pictured, and it fit PERFECTLY the day of the wedding. Nilah was able to change the bodice of the gown into a sweetheart shape, something I really wanted from the beginning, with no problem. The half French, half American bustle that she added was gorgeous! Nilah also provided choices for accessories, and I purchased a beautiful rose gold cluster belt (which she secured to the dress) and two hair pieces. She even custom made my Grace Kelly length veil with a silk ribbon edge, and it complimented the gown perfectly. Lastly, she saved scraps from my dress for my florist to use for my bouquet.

The service and alterations are well worth the price. Definitely contact Nilah & Company if you need alterations!

As the Mother-of-the-Groom and an artist, I was looking for a custom and unique gown. Not only did Nilah steer me in the right direction, but she worked with me to create just the look I wanted using the bottom of a gown and the top of a short dress. Nilah and Company took in my wedding dress alterations with only 3 months to go before my wedding (after things with the first seamstress went awry). Despite the tighter-than-ideal timelines, Nilah did beautiful work altering my consignment custom-designed gown to fit my frame, and adding a beautiful french bustle. She provided advice on veils, and accommodated an extra fitting that was needed. Nilah and her assistant were very responsive and professional. I was thrilled with how my dress turned out, and would recommend her services to anyone!

Let me tell you what...Nilah is awesome. I took my dress to her (approx 4.5mo before wedding) and she came through! She was WAY more affordable than the boutique where I purchased the dress. I knew I was getting robbed for alterations, so I contacted Nilah for a consult. I got an appoint within 2 wks. She's very honest and professional, and attentive. I purchased a dress that was about 5 sizes too big off the rack of a store that was going out of business then just after my first dress fitting, I moved out of the state. And with all of that, Nilah still provided me with the perfect dress for my wedding. I met with Nilah for the first time around March 2015. At the first meeting, Nilah pinned the over-sized dress a lot. There was caplet that came with my dress, and Nilah turned it backwards. I never would have turned the caplet around but somehow that unexpected change created beautiful angles with the dress. Nilah also brought out an original veil that matched perfectly with my dress. The whole thing came together! Nilah has an incredible eye. I then moved out of the state and did not see the dress again until 2 weeks before my wedding. I was nervous about weight change, but It fit like a glove. And Nilah reprimanded me for wearing spanx that I had not worn in our first fitting. Nilah also helped me pick out the perfect pair of earrings from her collection. Working with Nilah was a great experience, and my dress was flawless!

My experience here was fabulous! I bought dress from a once and again shop and needed it to be altered. I searched online for the best company or person to go to and found Nilah. When I walked in I immediately felt welcomed and like a bride, she was so attentive, kind, and helpful. She was a great person to talk to and she knew what to do to make my dress perfect! When I came back for my final fitting I was in tears, my dress was perfect, But I wanted to add a last minute detail and wasn't sure if she would or could do itl. My dad passed away 5 years ago and I wanted to incorporate a shirt of his into my dress. She said sure and that it was no problem! And got to work. When I picked up my dress she and I spoke about my wedding and the drama that was going on with it and she calmed me down and helped me out. When I looked at the heart she made on the inside bottom of my dress, I lost it and bawled my eyes out. She did such an amazing job. I wish my wedding experience with her didn't end! I had always wanted to wear a vintage wedding dress, it's difficult to find a dress that doesn't need some work or might look like a costume. After purchasing a 1950's wedding dress, I was referred to Nilah. The first meeting, Nilah listened to my ideas and thoughts. I wanted to modernize and restore this dress without taking away the integrity of it's vintage qualities. So, I presented Nilah with several photos of what I wanted, much to my dismay my ideas didn't seem to work with the style of my dress I had purchased. Seeing my disappointment Nilah, my mother and I went back to the drawing board. We developed something that would ultimately exceed every hope and expectation I had about my wedding dress. I would recommend Nilah to anyone with a new or an old dress. She was prompt, very responsive, and creative.

Nilah altered my dress perfectly! I had my final fitting 10 days before my wedding and I expressed concern that I was "bloated" She said ok come in Monday (My wedding was Friday) and it turns out I needed a half and inch taken in. Nilah was both my tailor and my day-of wedding coordinator. I highly recommend her for both services. She took my size 12 sample dress and brought it down to a size 2/4. It was a tricky dress and I was terrified it would not end up being flattering. The dress turned out gorgeous. She also revamped my Mom's poofy 1980s veil into something that could go with my more earthy wedding dress. It was absolutely gorgeous and something I never would have considered if she had not encouraged it.
As for her day-of wedding coordination service, I don't know what we would have done with out it. I had planned to save money by not hiring a coordinator, but during one of my final fittings, my mother in-law and I noticed Nilah's service. My mother in-law was gracious enough to pay for it as a gift. It completely eased our minds leading up to and on the day of the wedding. Nilah was in charge and very knowledgable. Thanks to her and her assistant, everything went smoothly. Throughout the cocktail hour they brought my husband and I water and plates of food (it's very difficult to make it to the food table as the bride and groom). They were there for every little thing we needed. It allowed my husband and I, but more importantly our families and bridal parties to enjoy themselves, rather than stressing out. I highly recommend Nilah.

Nilah did the alterations to my wedding dress for my wedding this past January. She did an AMAZING job and I could not have been more thrilled with the final product. Nilah was absolutely wonderful to work with. She is personable, friendly, professional and extremely talented at what she does. She is also very flexible with scheduling - I live in NYC and my wedding was in Philadelphia, but Nilah was so accommodating and was able to make my alterations appointments work with my schedule.
I had my first fitting at the end of October, and my second/final fitting towards the end of December. Both appointments were fantastic - Nilah knew exactly what needed to be done to my dress (taken in and hemmed) and made it happen. I picked up my dress 2 days before my wedding, and Nilah made sure everything was perfect before I left for my venue. I know alterations can be so stressful for some people, and there is nothing worse than an ill-fitting wedding dress, but you can 100% trust the work that Nilah does. She was worth every single penny.

Nilah also has a great selection of accessories in her salon. I found my earrings and hair piece for my wedding day at my first appointment with her. They were gorgeous and worked perfectly with my dress.I highly recommend Nilah & Company!

Nilah's work is top-notch! I loved how she is straight-forward and no-nonsense in her business. Bought my dress off the rack in NYC but knew I had to get all my fittings done in Philly where I live. Found Nilah through Yelp! where she only had a handful of reviews. Her shop is great-- huge bathroom, cozy waiting room with nice furniture and a great chaise in one of the dressing rooms.

She didn't make me feel bad at all for bringing my dress in just shy of the "standard" 3 months heads-up you should give your tailor. She did an awesome job on my dress and made me feel like I had all the time in the world to ask her questions, figure out what veil I would need, etc. Great staff too. Was about $500 to get my ballroom gown altered (needed to be taken in 2 sizes and hemmed several inches).

I couldn't recommend Nilah highly enough. She was professional and knew exactly what she was doing. I trusted her judgement implicitly. My gown needed almost no alterations (just hemming and bustle) but I know Nilah would have handled a more elaborate job in the same exacting, professional way. Her attention to detail extended right up until I collected my dress, when she noticed "a stitch" (yes, "a" stitch) not to her liking and she corrected it there and then, quickly.

I saw some reviews commenting that Nilah was unfriendly. I found her warm and funny and I loved dealing with her and the other lovely members of her team. Nilah is, it is true, not the "OTT gushy" sort, which personally I found refreshing, as the wedding industry is full of people who are "too much". Thank you, Nilah and Co, for being so accommodating to me and for your marvellous work. I will be back for other alterations in the future

Nilah & Company was one of the best choices I made! I bought my dress from J Crew - it was a simple slip dress that Nilah was able to impeccably tailor so it fit me like a glove. The bustle was perfect for dancing all night! The alterations were beautiful and Nilah was wonderful to work with. Nilah did an outsanding job on my wedding dress! I went to her on a reccomendation from the shop where I bought my dress. The dress was a couple sizes larger than me, and somehow, she made it fit like a glove. It was perfect!!

Nilah also made my veil. I had expressed a few small details I was looking for in a veil and she took it from there. From the alterations of my dress there was some lace left over, and she used that to trim the bottom of my veil. It was beautiful! More amazing than anything I had seen out at bridal shops. And the best part is that it was custom, and matched my dress perfectly.

How can I fully sing my praises for Nilah? From my first phone call to when I picked up the dress, Nilah and her staff were professional, personable, and responsive. Nilah is amazing! A friend of mine recommended her and I would not have had the gown I did without her! The dress I bought was a Renaissance style, with long sleeves which she altered to hit and flare at the elbow, instead of dragging off my wrists. She flawlessly "hemmed" the skirt of the dress, by pulling it up from the waist, since there is so much decorative lacing, etc on the bottom hem that she couldn't just hem the bottom. In addition, my bridesmaids and maid of honor bought their dresses from lightinthebox.com (all 3 came out beautifully!) and she tailored them to fit each of the girls - who all have completely different body types. Lastly, my mother bought her dress at Boscov's and didn't like how short the sleeves were (she doesn't like her arms, and didn't want them showing). She couldn't decide if she wanted a shawl or longer sleeves, but her dress was navy (a hard color to match). Nilah suggested buying another of the same dress, since it was on clearance, and she managed to do a double-sleeve that looked not only fabulous but natural. The first time I saw her I forgot they weren't part of the original dress! Oh, and she made my bustle 1/2 french, 1/2 american, so that you could see all the embroidery in the back. I cannot say enough good things about her - she is amazing. And I never had a problem scheduling an appointment (and I was trying to get all of us together, and with us all working!) and she always responded promptly. Highly Recommend!!!

After searching the bridal boutiques for the "perfect" dress I determined that I would be better off getting one that I felt could be altered into MY perfect dress. A friend recommended Nilah to me and I called her to find out if this vision would be possible. Even over the phone she exuded a kind of confidence that filled me with hope.

I brought my starter dress to her and from the first meeting with Nilah I was so excited to see the result. She was utterly professional and very enthusiastic about the challenges that I brought before her.

The result was absolutely incredible! We added layers and color to the dress, altered the neckline, changed the sash/belt and she handmade flowers that were affixed to the entire dress! It was above and beyond anything I could have envisioned. Her skill and talent transcended my expectations and I walked away with my DREAM dress.

I can't speak highly enough about her talent. Nilah makes visions into realities! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with such an amazing woman and I would recommend her for any alteration, big or small. Nilah was great. She did both my dress as well as one of my bridesmaids, who found out she was pregnant 1 week after she ordered her dress. Thankfully, Nilah was on it and was able to let out the dress so that it fit her perfectly. For my dress, she had to bring it in a LOT because i had gotten a sample dress that was several sizes too large. I also decided to make the back into a corset back when it was originally a zip up, and made it a sweetheart neckline when it was originally straight across. I'm also really petite so a lot had to also be taken off of the bottom. Everything fit perfectly and looked fantastic. She created the most beautiful bustle on the back. All along, she was flexible, accomodating and i thought she was also incredibly affordable. In fact, my final bill ended up being less that what i was originally quoted. If i have any more dresses i need tailored, I'm definitely going back to Nilah because she was so easy to work with. In reading other reviews, some people had thought she had an attitude, but I didn't get that at all. I thought she was pleasant to work with. She did get down to business but that's what i want out of a vendor, and i never felt rushed while i was at an appointment with her.

I excitedly found THE DRESS at Sabrina Ann…but there were a few problems…it was WAY too small (it didn’t zip half way up my back), was too long, needed a bustle, and needed to be taken in in other places. I was also concerned with the modesty of the cut. Nilah stepped in before I purchased the dress, coming to Sabrina Ann, and had a pre-purchase consultation with me to let me know what our options were to make it right, and what the cost would be. I immediately felt better and purchased the dress.

Later when I brought the dress to her, she worked magic, not only on the dress…but on me! She helped calm my nerves and assured me that everything would turn out perfectly. She was right! In the end, the dress fit better than I could have ever imagined. It looked as if it had been made for my body, and Nilah made sure to take all of my comments into consideration when doing the alterations. She also helped me pick out the best jewelry and veil to complete my wedding day look.
She also took on my Mother’s dress (also purchase at Sabrina Ann and too small) and came up with a VERY creative solution to make my Mom’s dress fit when it couldn’t be let out.

In the end, Nilah’s original quote was only $50 less than what I was charged (even though it was over a year later), and the extra $50 was well worth it. She steamed my dress and veil, created a more complicated and better bustle then we originally discussed, and made my dress PERFECT for the day!
I would definitely recommend Nilah to anyone for their wedding dress alteration needs…especially if you have a quandary on your hands! Her creativity, amazing and beautiful work, and problem-solving skills are unsurpassed!

I really loved Nilah. She was perfect for a bride like me, who just wanted someone to make some decisions for me. Nilah and her team were great! I moved to the Philadelphia area shortly before my wedding, but already had my dress, new and unaltered, from a boutique in another city. After reading all of Nilah's reviews, I called and booked an appointment. They were very accommodating, especially given the short lead time (less than 2 months). Nilah helped me pick a veil (which I was on the fence about) and then created it just for me. It was beautiful! She did the usual alterations, bustle, etc. and also sewed in a belt I had purchased from BHLDN. It was perfect and she was really accommodating and helpful. I appreciated hearing her thoughts/input at both of my fittings. The only reason I'm giving 4.5 instead of 5 stars for value is that it was so expensive ($700 ish) for everything. But I guess that's the name of the game and probably has nothing to do with Nilah & Co.

Nilah was great and saved me a good deal of money - I bought an ivory formal dress for $100 and had it altered to exactly what I wanted by Nilah for, I think another 300 or 400 dollars.... still reasonable for a wedding dress and I got exactly what I wanted, fit perfectly to me. She was very professional and seemed to get exactly what I was going for.

Great experience with alterations

Nilah was great to work with from start to finish! Three weeks prior to my wedding the dress needed to be taken in two inches and Nilah handled that with ease! She showed multiple people in my bridal party how to do the bustle and provided great instructions for how to transport the dress. I ended up still tripping on the bustle a little bit but even with that the experience was just exceptional! Highly recommend!

Nilah is one of the top recommended seamstresses in the Philadelphia area. Trusting your wedding dress to someone is a scary step, but Nilah will keep you at ease through the process. I had three fitting over the course of 6 months and was very satisfied by the final fitting. She even made final edits on the spot. Definitely worth the drive out of town.

After purchasing my dress in Spain and making the decision to tailor the dress after my return back to the United States, I was needless to say very nervous to give my dream dress to someone else to alter. I bought my dress from the Sample Rack and needed it cleaned and altered. During my search for a discounted designer dress I had heard great things about Nilah so I decided to give it a try. I’m glad that I did. I wanted some unique alterations made to my dress so I was very nervous about whether they could pull it off. Nilah let me know exactly what could and could not be done and made suggestions where needed. She is truly skilled at what she does. My dress turned out wonderful!.. In addition to doing great work on dresses, they also have beautiful jewelry and veils. I’m not very traditional so I didn’t want a veil. I ended up getting this very unique headpiece that I absolutely loved. It went perfectly with my gown. I was so happy with the dress and headpiece… Nilah is great. Her shop is adorable and her staff are helpful and responsive.

I am so glad to have found Nilah to tailor my wedding gown. She did a beautiful job, and although it was a little pricey, I don't think it was too much more than anyone else would have charged. She is very professional and very helpful; I wanted to wear a specific pair of shoes but my dress was too short. Nilah found matching fabric for my dress and added length so precisely that noone could tell it was an addition to the dress! She also altered a few of my bridesmaid's dresses. Again, did a beautiful job, but these were a little pricey. All in all, would absolutely recommend her.

Nilah did a great job on my alterations and is very flexible in terms of scheduling appointments. She also ironed my veil (and pointed out I had a white one as opposed to ivory that I needed) which was great. It was a bit more expensive then I expected but she did a great job.

Nilah did a beautiful job doing the alterations for my wedding dress! I was planning the wedding from out-of-town, she was very accomidating of my schedule to come in for alterations. She even found a way to raise the neck-line for me while making it look as if her changes were actually part of the original dress design -- amazing!

She also sold me a very affordable decorative pin for my hair that she had suggested for me -- it was perfect!

I can’t say enough good things about my recent experiences with Nilah. I took my wedding dress to Nilah for alterations and my Mom took her Mother of the Bride dress to Nilah as well. We both had two fittings before our dresses were ready for pickup. I was a little skeptical because she is so far from where we live but Nilah knows dresses! She knew exactly how the dresses were to fit properly and worked hard to make sure we were comfortable. Both dresses turned out to be perfect and Nilah really made the process easy.

I strongly recommend taking your dress to Nilah! I have heard horror stories about bridal shops and alterations. For one, with Nilah you will be in her home and you will have personal, one-on-one service. Second, her assistant Rachel responds to all emails and was always helpful with scheduling fittings and answering questions. Just a tip – be sure to have your exact shoes and undergarments available for your fitting. Also, don’t take tags off of new undergarments…I showed up with some options and didn’t end up needed them at all, so I was able to return them to the stores.

Nilah also made my veil. I received so many positive comments about it and it was exactly what I wanted. It matched my dress perfectly. Nilah even let me take the veil early (without having yet paid for it) so that I would have it available for my hair trial. It was so nice and thoughtful of her. I would recommend Nilah without reservation!

Nilah did an absolutely fantastic job updating my grandmother's wedding dress. The original design had long sleeves, a high neck, and a Disney-princess-style V-shaped waistline. Plus, it was a little tight around my ribcage. Nilah totally knows her stuff about the history of bridal fashion, and was not only able to tell me so much about why my grandma's dress was designed the way it was, but was also able to give me ideas about how to modernize it without compromising the integrity of the style. She can be pretty intense at first, but it's only because she really knows what will work and what will look good - trust her judgment! Nilah's assistant Jennifer is also adorable and helpful, and really understanding of "bride brain" (every time I went there I forgot something or lost something or just felt crazy in general, and Jennifer was always ridiculously nice). The prices here are not cheap, but they're also not as expensive as some Rittenhouse seamstresses -- and the money is definitely worth it for such an important piece. Nilah was fabulous, the dress turned out amazing, and I got about five million compliments on how it turned out. Thank you, Nilah! Pictures soon!

Nilah was incredible! She took a vision of what i had in my head and was able to adapt a dress into my WEDDDING dress. I felt that the personalization and attention to detail totally transformed the dress! She was also very realistic and adapted a few elements based on each fitting! I've used Nilah a few times. Once she fixed a bridesmaid dress that I'd had altered by a tailor. The tailor had ruined the dress and Nilah fixed it and it was beautiful.

When it came time to have my wedding dress altered I went straight to her. She is incredibly talented. She gave me 3 options for a bustle and even suggested adding a broach to the side of my dress. It was a great idea and brought the whole look together.

Nilah is candid and blunt about what she thinks of your wedding plans. She is a wedding coordinator as well as a seamstress. Take what she says with a grain of salt but definitely use her for alterations!

Nilah came recommended by the store where I bought my wedding dress. Nilah listened to all my concerns and what I wished to be altered on my dress. She even offered up some helpful tips. Unfortunately, I did not like the final product. She created a bustle on the back of my dress and it didn't lay nicely on my dress, so it looks funny in my photos. She also didn't do a great job taking in my dress and there were lines along my abdomen (verses sitting flat). Given her experience I would have expected her to know the material better and make better alterations.

She did do an excellent job cleaning and altering my veil. It was 35+ years old and yellowed - it came out ivory and beautiful!

Nilah and company helped me to alter my mother's dress. I was happy with the product but did have a hard time along the way. The cost for the alterations was great. However, I did have a hard time getting Nilah to give me suggestions on the dress. I would recommend using her services if you have a clear vision. It was a little hard for me as I have never made a dress I was unsure what was a possibility in my price range and she was reluctant to give me ideas. Once we got the ball rolling, things ended up better than I had feared. And my only complaint was that I couldn't raise my arms at the reception, so twirls were a bit less than graceful. Overall, I ended up happy.

I had an absolute horrible experience with Nilah.

First time I met her, she snapped at me when I said I wanted an American bustle opposed to the French bustle she suggested. She came highly recommended by Sabrina Anns, so I let me mother convince me to still use her. Nilah did add some length to my dress, which looked seamless, and made an absolutely beautiful veil. But the next time I met with her, she got mad that my chest grew a little (I went on the pill from an IUD - it was seriously less than 1/2 a cup size) and said she would have to 'V' the back of the dress to make the fit look better. She said I would not come back for a final fitting after that 'V' was put in. I really should have insisted that I come back. The back of the dress where she put the V looked like I just didn't zip it all the way up (I had three guests inform me throughout the night that my dress was coming undone). Because she lowered the back but didn't change the front at all (it was strapless) the gown was too loose in the front and if I leaned back even the slightest, you could see right down the front - which made dancing really awkward. Since the V went so low in the back, I wasn't able to wear a bra to counter balance the gapping front. And for the final blow - when my husband dipped me (very gently so I wouldn't flash our guests) the two very small, very thin rubber loops she put in to accomidate my bustle, both snapped under the weight of my dress.

Nilah did push for the French bustle, saying my dress was heavy and an American bustle would put extra weight at my center and make my balance a little uneven. She didn't say she wasn't able to ensure that the bustle wouldn't break.

So all in all, I hated my dress. I was nervous about flashing people. I was told multiple times that I was coming undone. And I had to carry my long train thrown over my arm when I wanted to walk without risking someone stepping on my dress. Not the way I pictured my wedding gown at all.

I was very, very disappointed with the service and Nilah herself. She was rude, snooty and inconsiderate every time we spoke and in person. It didn't matter what I said it was the wrong thing-the woman is pushy and thinks she knows best for every single situation.

We decided to go with her because she was highly recommended. I should have listened to my instinct and gone with Athena who was sweet and reasonably priced, Nilah seemed more confident so I went with her. Fail.

The dress fits worse now then it did when we brought it in, there are uneven seams, the zipper is the wrong color, threads are showing everywhere and the buttons don't line up...

PLEASE, please save yourself the time, money and frustration of trying to working with this woman. The last thing we need when planning a wedding is another headache!
