We couldn’t be happier with our choice to go with Mike. The DJ at a wedding is the “foundation” and everything can be made better, or worse, depending on the DJ. We had a strong foundation at our wedding. He made planning easy, meetings were simple, and the night of was amazing.
Our dinner was slightly late but Mike helped with the coordination and that could have been a nightmare. Luckily he took over and made it happen.
Seriously, I can’t imagine any other DJ doing a better job than Mike did. We appreciate you and the effort you put in to making our night amazing! -

If you're considering hiring Mike for your wedding, stop searching & book him NOW! From the moment we hired him, every person we mentioned him to had the exact same response: "He's the best." After spending a year working with him and seeing him in action on our wedding day, we can confidently say they were absolutely right. By the time our wedding day arrived, we trusted Mike completely. We knew that no matter what happened, he would handle it, and that level of confidence is priceless when planning a wedding. One of the greatest gifts Mike gave us throughout the planning process was peace of mind. Wedding planning can be so stressful, but he was the one vendor we never had to worry about. He checked in when needed, guided us through decisions, offered song suggestions when we felt stuck, and made the entire process feel effortless. Mike genuinely cares about his couples. He never felt like "just a vendor," moreso a friend who happened to be incredibly talented at his job. Whether it was helping us shorten (and i mean SHORTEN) our first dance song, flawlessly timing every ceremony and reception cue, or accommodating a last-minute surprise from my mom during my parents' welcome speech, he handled everything with professionalism, kindness, and enthusiasm. Mike somehow became the hero of multiple moments without missing a beat. My husband INSISTS the only reason he cried when I walked down the aisle was because of the song choice & timing, so thanks for that Mike. And when my sweet brother, our officiant, completely blanked on the final words to announce us as husband and wife, Mike instantly recognized what was happening and seamlessly started the music, saving the moment before anyone even realized there was a hiccup. On a day when there are a million things competing for your attention, Mike quietly handled so many details behind the scenes that we never had to think about. As for our reception, we gave Mike almost no direction beyond "read the crowd & do your thing," and he absolutely crushed it. The dance floor was packed all night long. Every time we looked around, our guests were dancing, laughing, and having the time of their lives. His ability to read a room and create the perfect energy is honestly incredible. What impressed us most was how calmly and professionally he handled everything that came his way, even challenging situations that could have easily disrupted the night (rowdy plus 1s with no life). Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, rattled him. The music, energy, and flow of a wedding can truly make or break the entire celebration, and Mike made ours. He played such a huge role in making it one of the best days of our lives. We would recommend him a thousand times over! Mike somehow managed to be the MVP of our wedding without ever making the day about himself. -

Best DJ ever!!
We cannot say enough great things about Mike Simmons from Must Be the Music DJs. We used Mike for our September wedding at Deerfield.
Mike has so many years of experience in the industry, and it truly shows. He was not only incredibly professional and responsive, but also such a helpful resource throughout the entire planning process. During the year leading up to our wedding, he checked in with us every couple of months to make sure everything was going smoothly and to see if we needed anything at all.
We also added uplighting, which I absolutely loved. Because Mike has DJ’d at Deerfield so many times over the years, he knew exactly where to place the lights to make the space look amazing. I also loved the detail of being able to pick our design to be displayed on the screen of his DJ booth. Everything felt perfectly thought out.
Mike’s main focus was keeping people on the dance floor, and he absolutely delivered. He truly made our reception a party. The dance floor was never empty, and we all had so much fun!
We would recommend Mike to anyone without hesitation!

Working with Mike throughout our wedding planning was so easy! He was very responsive and listened to everything we wanted/didn’t want and made it happen. Music during the ceremony and cocktail hour sounded great. The music flowed perfectly at the reception and he did an amazing job with any announcements we needed (bridal party, first dances, cake cutting, etc.). He really made sure our day was as perfect as it could be. Music can make or break a wedding and our dance floor was packed the whole time! We loved working with Mike and would definitely recommend him! -

DJ Mike was an amazing DJ and he is a funny and awesome guy in general! He takes extreme pride in his work and he is very experienced which is what you need at a wedding! He was able to keep everyone on their feet and moving!! He set up microphones so my cousin could sing at the ceremony, took the time to edit our songs that we wanted, and zoomed with us several times during the planning process. He is very thorough and we are so appreciative of that. I have received several compliments for him from my guests. Mike we can't thank you enough!!!

My husband and I would definitely recommend this DJ! He did a great job conferring with our other vendors to make sure that timelines were on point. He did a great job organizing songs for us and giving us great guidelines to follow when choosing songs. We met with him a couple of times via zoom and it was very easy speaking with him. He is very personable punctual and all-around a phenomenal DJ before my Father daughter dance with my dad, I gave a little speech on why I choose the song I did. Within that speech, I mentioned how one of Ozzy Osbourne songs would have been also suitable. Our DJ didn’t miss a beat. After we were done our dance, he played a little clip of an Ozzy song and it really got the crowd excited. It’s a little details like these that you will remember forever. Mike was fantastic!! From the first time we met Mike at a open house I got a great vibe from him and knew that I wanted him to DJ my wedding wherever we booked. I kept his information and once we booked our venue I reached right out to him. He was professional, insightful, fun, and had great communication. He made us feel comfortable and confident in his ability as a great DJ. He helped us create a perfect wedding day. He reached out to us multiple times throughout the planning process to check up on us and help us with anything. He was extremely accommodating with my special request to do a mash up of two songs for my father daughter dance. It was a big hit! Our dance floor was crowded all night long and the music was enjoyed by all generations of guests. He played all our must played songs and created a upbeat vibe or the entire night. From the very beginning he was incredibly responsive and continuously checked in with us to see if we needed anything and always reassured us that we were in great hands! My husband and I were very particular about our music selection, providing a detailed list of must-plays and even giving him a playlist to stick to throughout the night. He not only stuck to our playlist but he added his own special touch to it and made it even better. We had quite a diverse wedding from our wedding party to our guests and he made sure that every single guest at our wedding was on the dance floor. We kept receiving compliments throughout the night and even weeks after our wedding about how amazing our DJ was. We can’t say enough great things about our wedding DJ, Mike! From start to finish, he exceeded every expectation and made our big day truly unforgettable. My husband and I were very particular about our music selection, providing a detailed list of must-plays and an admittedly excessive "do-not-play" list. Mike was an absolute trooper, respecting all our preferences while still creating an incredible vibe for our guests.
The Afrobeat fusion we requested for the reception was spot on, keeping everyone on their feet. Even during cocktail hour, his song selection was so good that I found myself dancing before I even hit the dance floor! His versatility and understanding of the crowd were unmatched.
Not only did he crush it as a DJ, but he also doubled as an outstanding MC. He kept the energy high, the schedule flowing smoothly, and the guests fully engaged. We opted for the uplighting package as well, which elevated the entire ambiance of the venue.
On top of his DJ and MC skills, Mike was one of the best vendors we worked with in terms of communication. This is the DJ! We absolutely loved Mike! He was awesome! He communicated with us in a timely manner and was so sweet and professional. He helped me select music and fine tuned everything perfectly! My hubby loves video games and he set up his DJ booth to include that in our special night! My guests really enjoyed themselves and Mike got us all out on the dance floor to have a good time. 5 stars. If we could rate higher we would. Mike was top notch since before day 1 of us hiring him as our DJ. He was the MC for our venue’s Open House; we were hooked from that day. He was beyond professional and personable. The sheets he provided to pick out our wedding music were easy to follow and made the process a lot simpler. Mike actually cares about his clients and wants the best for them; that shows through his work. You can tell he enjoys what he does for a living, providing the best DJ services possible. Couldn't have asked for a better experience pre-wedding and the day of! Our daughter & husband decided for the small mini-mony wedding (elopement style) in early July. It was a super small event with just immediate family. My husband and I wanted to throw them a reception style event, a 'Happily Ever After Party', a few weeks later. The whole event was planned in about 3-4 months. Mike was great from the moment we first contacted him & he kept the night fun & casual (which is what we wanted) for all our guests. Highly recommend Mike! -

Mike was a fantastic DJ/entertainer who went above and beyond! From our initial zoom meetings/phone calls to the wedding day itself he was so attentive and helped to make our wedding even more personal. He was so friendly, went out of his way to come out and direct the bridal party prior to being introduced at the reception, comes dressed to the nines and adds a personal touch by adding our names in our wedding color to his DJ setup. He not only played a terrific playlist during each part of the wedding day but does the initial leg work behind the scenes to make our song choices work, even trimming our first dance and parent dances down from 4 minute songs to much more tolerable 2.5 minute songs flawlessly. I highly recommend Mike! -

All the communication with Mike from the start was great, he reached out at every point he said he would, he was on point with everything, he knew everything necessary about DJ’ing at Deerfield. The day of was fantastic for everything we got to see. The ceremony went perfectly and we haven't heard any complaints. We’ve only heard how much fun everyone had.
We didn’t see Mike when we were leaving at the end of the night and we wanted to say thank you but wasn't sure if he already left or just went to start collecting equipment but our shuttle was waiting for us so we had to go.
We would definitely recommend Mike and we’d pick him as our DJ again. Mike put in so much work to perfect being the best DJ, he was creative with us, fun, and helped get a lot of the pieces of the planning process to come together! Thank you for all the work you put in for us Mike! -

Our wedding was perfect thanks to Must Be The Music! We randomly met Mike at an open house and his booth caught my attention immediately. It is like no other DJ set up I've seen. Our guests thought so too! Mike completely understood our musical vision for the ceremony and reception and executed it perfectly. The soft uplighting gave the room a warm, romantic vibe. Mike was OUTSTANDING! He put my and my wife's preferences for music and the experience at the forefront and ensured everything went well with the theme of our wedding based on what we wanted as far as music. He worked with the venue behind the scenes to ensure we had what we needed. It was his first time at the venue and you would have thought he's there every weekend. His lighting, equipment, and sound fit seamlessly with the venue. The crowd was moving the whole time and everyone of all ages enjoyed the music. Mike too our most special day and took it to another level. -

We knew immediately after ending our first Zoom call with Mike that we wanted to hire him for our wedding. He was arguably the most prepared vendor / individual that we spoke with during the entire process. He is personable and informative, and opened our eyes so much to the vital role the DJ plays throughout the wedding night. We really want to stress how informative and professional he is. He provides fantastic videos and reading material, we were bragging about it to our friends about how prepared, knowledgable, and helpful our DJ was compared to other experiences we have heard about. He was familiar with our venue, and educated us on how his equipment was suited for the high ceiling of our venue. Speaking of his equipment, his set up is beautiful! No big bulky speakers, he has sleek modern speakers and a beautiful table that he programs with a beautiful monogram message. It really pops and adds to the elegance and classiness of the wedding night. The uplifting was such a worthwhile addition, it took the atmosphere to another level, and looked beautiful throughout the night (Go Birds!).
Every conversation we had with him was awesome, we loved him as a person. He was also arguably the best vendor we had in terms of keeping in contact with us. When we needed him or had a question, he was always prompt in his responses and went above and beyond to assist us. He is full of great recommendations for other vendors, and obviously music as well. You may not realize how important having a great DJ is and he definitely showed up for the part! We have received so much positive feedback on how he played a fantastic mix of music, and knew how to get the crowd going. He was vital in coordinating the day of activities as well. He was on top of the timeline (from ceremony through the end of the night), special announcement we requested, and interacted in such a positive way with the crowd and guests. Our family members loved him as well! Perhaps most important, Mike cares about his couples and makes sure that everything runs smoothly. He even reached out to our venue coordinator to assist with the day-of timeline. He went above and beyond for us, and was fully invested making our night as special as possible.

What can I say about DJ Mike besides him being absolutely amazing at his job. He was the obvious choice for our wedding. He is extremely friendly and kind and knows exactly how to perfectly DJ a wedding. We met with DJ Mike on a few occasions to go over songs, different things we wanted to do for the wedding, certain things he recommended, pricing, etc. and he was seriously so easy to work with. He really made our wedding the party of a lifetime! He was one of the best if not the best part about our wedding. He made the process so smooth and it really made it seem like he was our friend. He literally had every single one of our guest on the dance floor and that’s something that you don’t always see! -

Exceptionally organized DJ who kept the dance floor full all night!
I hit the luck of all luck to secure Mike Simmons as my DJ a mere 60 days before my wedding. New to wedding planning, it was so refreshing to have ONE aspect of the day off my shoulders because Mike covered everything! He was so helpful in explaining the sequence of the evening while still letting me know it was OUR night and we could scrap any traditions or conventions that didn't fit us. He gave great recommendations when I struggled with songs and was amazing when it came to last second changes. The song I wanted as my 1st dance was too fast for a slow dance and he slowed it down without losing a single quality of the original. Everyone was on the dance floor to the very last minute and everyone raved about Mike (even the venue)! My husband and I joked we would get divorced and remarried just to experience the night again. Thank you for everything, Mike. Hiring you was the best choice (second to the groom) I ever made. -

Mike checked off all our boxes for what we were looking for with a wedding DJ. He was so easy to talk too, very welcoming and always answered questions promptly! I found him in 2021 for my 2023 wedding and he would always check in with me to make sure I was doing okay with wedding planning and if I had any questions! When our day finally arrived he came early to set up and make sure everything was perfect and running smoothly. He uses clip on microphones during the ceremony which was so perfect, I think the mic stands are so ugly and ruin photos! The groom was mic’d up as well as our officiant and everyone could hear us perfectly. During our reception we had a lot of older guests mixed with younger so the music had to pair well with both sets of guests and he did an outstanding job with keeping the energy up! We added on the uplighting he offers and man oh man I cannot recommend that enough! It really pulled everything together and made our night feel even more special. Mike was on top of it from day one, knew exactly what he was doing, even gave us tips on other vendors we could utilize (Intrigue Photography) and ran us through step by step how typical marriage ceremonies/receptions go but let us customize it the entire way to be our perfect night! Professional, patient, excellent communication via email/phone/video call/whatever we needed and a wonderful sense of humor to boot! We never had a doubt in him which is super helpful when everything else is stressful to plan! All in all we had a totally stellar night with all the right music and hitting all the perfect steps with Mike! He even does custom displays on the front of his DJ stand! They looked so cool! -

From our first meeting the the magical day of Mike Simmons of Must be the Dj was nothing but AMAZING!! The one thing people don’t tell you about planning a wedding, is how hard picking songs actually is! Mike was so patient and had list and suggestions for all of my lost ways. The most important part, that I will forever be thankful for was his push to use our song “Say you won’t let go.” As our wedding song. I always envisioned it as our song and down played myself thinking it wasn’t wedding appropriate. After talking to Mike, we picked it as our first dance and on our wedding day I was so glad we did. Start of our ceremony to the end of the night everything was absolutely perfect. From the time our dance floor opened until the last song of the night he had our dance floor packed. If you are looking for a Dj, this is 100% the one! -

I’ve tried to write this review 5 times now, but I realized nothing I actually could write would capture just how happy I am hiring mike and must be the music DJs. Truly a dj can make or break your wedding, without a doubt mike MADE my wedding. I knew literally 5 seconds after talking to Mike I wanted to hire him, his clear attention to detail made it the easiest decision of my wedding. He sat down with us multiple time and literally helped us plan the schedule of events. If that’s not going above and beyond i don’t know what is. Mike helped mic up the groom, and the officiant which made our lives SO EASY. I literally never worried once about the sound, or music during my wedding. The best advice I can give, DO NOT SKIP THE UPLIGHTING. This was the best decision, it turned our venue into a dance floor everyone wanted to be on (I’m not kidding we had at least 100 people on this dance floor). Mike even made us a custom logo for the front of his dj booth! Mike, you genuinely were the best vendor I had the pleasure of working with. Thank you for helping giving us our dream wedding!! -

Our wedding day was an absolute dream come true, and we owe a significant part of that unforgettable experience to this amazing wedding DJ. Mike was super hands-on and accommodating throughout the whole process, from helping us put together the perfect dance playlist for our guests, to custom editing the more crucial tracks (mother-son, father-daughter, and first dance) so that they were perfectly tailored to our preferences and timeline.
The planning process went so smoothly that I couldnt help but to go into the wedding day with the highest of expectations. Despite this, I can honestly say that Mike not only met, but far exceeded everything we could have imagined. Mike is the best! He’s an awesome guy who cares about making your wedding day special and running smooth. He is easy to work with leading up to the wedding and has great communication. He had great timing for all the requested songs during the ceremony. He had the guests pumped during bridal party introductions. He had the dance floor packed all reception. He understood exactly what kind of vibes we were looking for throughout cocktail hour, dinner and into dancing and because of his professionalism and confidence in his style and ability we felt awesome about letting him be creative and run with it. The DJ booth with our wedding logo was an awesome add to the reception space as well. He also had multiple back up plans to ensure everything went on according to plan. Overall, we definitely recommend hiring Mike as your DJ. -

Mike was absolute amazing and helped us plan out the most perfect wedding day!
Don't walk.....RUN! Mike made the process super easy and stress-free! No matter what questions I had he was always quick with a response and VERY thorough. He even helped with areas that were not exactly his area (photography, details, etc.). I relied heavily on his opinions since he has been doing this for a very long time. Mike made sure to play various types of music and made sure that everyone was up on their feet, having a good time. Mike also has a wonderful DJ display that is very clean, elegant, and is beautiful for photos! Can't forget his awesome uplighting as well! Mike made sure to set the lighting based on the mood of the room, which did not go unnoticed by guests. Aside from his wonderful DJing skills, I would consider Mike to be a friend! He made sure to build a personal connection with my husband and I. He checked in on us through the whole process and AFTER our wedding was over. He really is a wonderful guy and I would 100% use him for future events. April 22, 2023 will forever be a day to remember! Thank you Mike! -

Mike did an absolutely incredible job with our wedding! He has such great energy that it will bring any wedding to life. When selecting a DJ numerous things stood out that made us choose MustBetheMusicDJs. First being the level of reassurance that Mike provided to us with the multiple microphones and backup microphones that were utilized during our ceremony leaving no room for error. Second was his knowledge of acoustics and how they would be effected within our venue. Third was his attention to detail within appearances, whether it be the fancy imported speakers, the mood setting uplighting, or Mike dressing to blend in with the rest of the wedding party, he really has thought of it all! -

Mike is the best DJ I could have ever asked for! He is so detailed oriented and truly cared about making my wedding day music as stress-free as possible. From the very first email, Mike included every answer to every question I had along with ones I hadn't even thought of. He is so easy to talk to and will make sure he understands EXACTLY what you are looking for. He was able to make edits to songs to make them just the perfect length for my father/daughter dance and my mother/daughter dance. I also gave my guests the option to write a song on their RSVP that they wanted to hear at my wedding so Mike helped me work through that list of songs to decide what would be good and not good for a wedding playlist. He played every song I requested and at the most perfect times throughout the night. I will continue to recommend MustBeTheMusicDJs to everyone for any and every event! My husband and I chose Mike to DJ our belated wedding reception earlier this October. He walked me through the whole process and was an absolute professional in making sure the day went smoothly. I think the highest recommendation I can say is that whenever I mentioned we had booked Mike to the coordinators at our venue, every single one immediately went, "Mike is the BEST," completely unprompted.
