He listen to everything I asked for and wanted it to be. He made it about the children and he played games with them like I asked. I wanted certain music at certain times so he applied an app that I was able to tell my times in which songs that I wanted. He provided microphones. he had smooth transitions and even played a little extra for us I would definitely hire again for another party!!!! -

Dj Chi was great and kept fantastic pacing with the nights music, pumped up when we needed a kick, cooled down with some slow ones. She was communicative and hard working. We had the Photo Booth which guests LOVED! At the end of the night we got to take home a photo album with all the film strips and little messages from each guest, it’s such a fun keepsake. Dj Chi also put up a BEAUTIFUL setup of string lighting with Chinese lanterns over our outdoor dance floor and it was just perfect! 10/10 Definitely recommend! -

DJ Chi was nothing but fantastic from the moment we had our first meeting and went above and beyond what I would have ever expected of her. She is very laid back and makes the whole process of outlining the ceremony and reception music very easy. She made the entire 70 person wedding dance all night, which is exactly what I asked her to do! The music flow was great of the songs we chose, and the only thing I wished to have changed was to have made my event even longer - we just did not want to stop the party! Everyone spoke highly over her after the event and thought we had hired a fantastic DJ. We had a semi-bilingual wedding since my husband's side spoke mostly Spanish, and she was able to make the Spanish music flow together well for both sides of our family to dance. I would recommend her to anyone and if you want someone who gets back to you quickly when you have any questions, who makes the process smooth and easy, and gets everyone (even those who aren't typically dancers) to dance then look no further and choose DJ Chi! Chi, thank you from the bottom of both mine and my husband's heart because we really enjoyed working with you and will recommend the world to you! -

We used Chi for our wedding on February 6th. She was outstanding to say the least. She was extremely professional and very good at her job. You can tell this is something she is passionate about. Prior to our wedding, she made sure to stay in contact with us, have meetings to gauge our ideas about our night, suggest her own ideas,and make sure we knew what to expect. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY recommend her anyone’s wedding! Dj Chi was amazing got everyone up and dancing and kept everyone on their feet. Just a very down to earth person who will become your family during the whole process. -

I can’t say enough about DJ Simon Says. He was very affordable, accommodating, and engaging during the reception. His planning documents and app made it a breeze to get him song selections and any important information. He definitely outdid himself and made the night one to remember! He even incorporated (very last second) a recorded speech from our Maid of Honor who wasn’t able to attend last minute due to health issues, and this definitely showed his will to go above and beyond for his clients. He provides a dance floor and beautiful string lighting last second to help us with last minute ch ages due to Covid and CDC guidelines, and handled it like a champ! His photo booth was a major hit! The guests are still talking about the photo booth and we've definitely enjoyed going back multiple times to look at the guestbook everyone signed on their way out of the photo booth with their picture, definitely worth every penny!!! !I’d recommend DJ Simon Says to anyone looking for a DJ, lighting, etc. He was phenomenal -

DJ Simon Says was fantastic. He was also the cheapest quote I got from five different DJs. His wedding package was perfect for us. He had high quality sound for both the ceremony (lapel mics included) and the reception. His uplighting and his sleek dj table set up looked really good at the reception too. On top of dancing to the great music he was playing, we all had a ton of fun playing a trivia game he had put together about us. He was very accommodating and professional. He came early and stayed late (in the rain to boot)! -

So much to say... but one thing is for sure, Simon made our wedding one to remember!
Very easy going guy, super easy to relate to and he seemed to understand excatly what we wanted. He responded almost immediately and answered all of our questions in detail. I would definitely recommend him for anyone's party. -

Professional and so fun!
DJ Simon was AMAZING, so fun, and incredibly professional. We were able to request songs we wanted prior to the wedding, and we had a phone meeting several days before the wedding to go over the schedule of events and ceremony music. The uplighting looked fantastic! Highly recommend!! -

DJ Simon Says was hands down one of the top two best decisions of our Wedding. He was the most responsive vendor we communicated with which alleviated a lot of stress when it came to planning. Music to My Ears was a great asset to our vendor team. When hiring a DJ, you are pretty much shooting in the dark on what you're going to get, but from working with Dj Simon in the past, I knew that it would be a successful event. He was very professional and dedicated to making our wedding day/dance floor what it should be. While we had some communications issues (such as: waiting until the day of our wedding to ask us for stuff, requesting we use an app to fill in songs that weren't even played, and name errors), he showed up on time and kept our dance floor full (as we wanted). Thanks DJ Simon. We hope your business continues to flourish in the Tampa Bay community. -

I do not typically write reviews and this is a lengthy review but reading through this I feel can be worth your while. There is a list of things that DJ Simon Says of Music to My Ears did that personally did not sit well with me (there may be a lot of other DJ Simon Says so I just want to reiterate that this is DJ Simon Says of Music to My Ears). In any case, here is the list (what is asterisked is what prompted me to write this review):
1) He did not communicate with us early on that we did not need to fill up all the songs on the Vibo DJ app. Therefore, we spent several hours within a couple of days prior to the wedding filling in all the songs. Granted, we should have filled the list earlier, however, we were working on several other things leading up to the wedding (coordination with the photographer, caterer, day of coordinator, etc.). In any case, whether we filled the list out or not it ultimately became irrelevant because he did not use at least 90% of the songs we put on the list.
2) So now that we filled the app up with songs that we curated and put a tremendous amount of thought into, he only played a handful of the songs that we requested. Mind you, we had hundreds of songs that we wanted to be played but were not.
3) He does not understand how to transition songs smoothly from one song into another. For example, he would play an upbeat relatively new song then cut it into a slow obscure song that myself, my wife and several of my other guests were not familiar with.
4) He does not understand the context of the dance crowd. He played “Clarity” by Zedd and a lot of us were excited for that duration of 3 minutes dancing around. Then seemingly abruptly after that song, he started to play slow dance music. I would have imagined that a DJ would play more energetic music for a certain duration (20-30 minutes) then slow it down then bring it back up again.
5) When he announced us for the simultaneous mother-son dance and father-daughter dance, he stated this verbatim “Now for a dance with the groom and the first man he ever loved.” After 30 seconds, he then rephrased/corrected himself. I need to state and clarify that I am a heterosexual male marrying another heterosexual female. To be quite honest, this error is not troublesome to me, but it is the culmination of his varied blunders that made me write this scathing review.
6) Not a big deal, but he played the “Electric Slide” not once but twice when there were only 2 or maybe perhaps 3 people dancing to the song. Again, this is another example of the lack of awareness that he has as a DJ.
*7) He very aggressively pressured the best man and the maid of honor to give speeches at dinner, despite both of them stating multiple times that they were too shy and were not comfortable with it. The bride also told DJ Simon very clearly that the speeches were not needed and that they did not have to do it. On a side note, they ended up doing the speeches and did exceptionally well.
*8) When my wife asked him to announce the vegetarians and pescatarians to be served first because we had some guests who did not eat meat and had food restrictions due to religious reasons, we pointed to the couple who are extremely close friends (practically family to us) to DJ Simon. His response “Oh the turban?” No one heard it thankfully, but that is an extremely egregious and incredibly rude thing to say. On principal, this was unacceptable.
*9) He ate the food prior to the bride and groom and any other guests getting their food first. The caterers were adamant and told him firmly several times to not do that, however, he decided to do so anyway. Again on principal, this was unacceptable.
My intention is not to harm anyone’s career or livelihood. My intent is to have future couples informed about my experience with DJ Simon at Music to My Ears. If anyone decides to use him as their DJ, my only hope is that he performs as well as these other reviews that gave him 5-stars. Perhaps he had an off-day, but for my wife and I, DJ Simon’s performance at our wedding was abysmal. The music is one thing, but the way he is as a person needs to be improved substantially.
Luckily, the other aspects of the wedding were absolutely incredible for us and those other aspects really shined through for us.
