Tim was the DJ for our anniversary party and he definitely helped make a Great night. He played almost every song on our list and at the right times to keep the party going. He didn't talk a lot just kept playing the music. The dance floor always had people dancing. He was always available during the planning stage and responded almost immediately every time I emailed him. My family and I are trying to come up with another party to host just because we had so much fun. I would highly recommend Music in Motion for any event.

Beyond what we expected!
Our DJ, Riley, went above and beyond for our special day! Tim was also incredibly responsive and accommodating. Our guests have reached out saying how the playlist was on point, the song transitions were stellar and Riley was so much fun to be around! He kept the energy going and we truly could not have asked for a better experience. Getting everything set up was seamless as well which is a HUGE plus! 10/10 would recommend to anyone in search of a DJ! Ask for Riley!

We hired Tim as our wedding DJ and truly couldn’t have asked for anything better! From the very beginning, he was the most responsive vendor we worked with. He checked in regularly before the big day, communicated clearly, and made the whole process feel so easy. Oh, and he is seriously the most friendly human!
He worked seamlessly with our day-of coordinator, and when the wedding day arrived, everything was smooth sailing. You can tell he has this down to a science; in the best way possible!! The music, the transitions, the energy… all flawless.
We had so many guests come up to us saying it was the best DJ/music they’ve ever experienced at a wedding. That says everything! And I’m so happy we went with the uplighting—seriously, it made all the difference for the vibe and tied the whole night together.

Tim was the absolute BEST DJ EVER!! We received SO MANY compliments from our guests at how well he did, how fun the music was and how lively the dancefloor was the entire evening. Tim was the perfect choice to DJ our recent wedding! We talked to about 9 DJs before coming across Music in Motion. Even over the phone nobody was giving us the energy and professionalism we were looking for - enter Tim from Music in Motion. My fiancé and I immediately loved the conversation we had with Tim. We could tell how excited he was for us and his energy matched ours perfectly. Tim was very communicative with us leading up to our wedding and would often respond within an hour of our emails! On the day of our wedding Tim absolutely rocked it. He was so engaging as an MC and followed the music choices and ‘vibe’ we wanted for each segment of our reception exactly how we asked. Tim Hicks was our DJ for our wedding and he was very professional, friendly, courteous and attentive. Any email sent was promptly answered. He made the officiant, who was a family member, feel very at ease with the microphone and how it all worked. He verified all of the music choices and was very organized, every step of the way. Most importantly, he kept everyone dancing. He was great at switching music, if needed, to get as many people on the dance floor as possible. He checked with us several times during the reception for timing of everything which was greatly appreciated. He was very upbeat and fun to have as our DJ. An Amazing Music Experience For A Once In A Life Time Event
I've had the pleasure working with Tim and Jimmy Styx for my wedding. The ease of letting them know what music and vibe I was going for made it easy for someone like myself that is used to creating spreadsheets and organizing things in general help make things atonomous for my DJ, Jimmy. Jimmy was easy to work with, flexible, and provided great insight. His timing during the ceremony was absolutely perfect as well as his execution for fading music in and out during the ceremony walks. Jimmy checked in with me every step of the way while my Wife and I were running around like chickens at times trying to make sure things happen accordingly. Jimmy made sure to stick to the schedule but most importantly, when things had to have minor changes, Jimmy made his part in the process smooth and and easy going for my Wife and I.
Jimmy is a kickass DJ and anyone lucky enough to communicate with him would be very fortunate, because he tells you exactly what he needs and as long as you do your part planning your own wedding, Jimmy's got you!
Tim has been paramount to the success of this as well. Great communication skills, makes time for phone calls even when he's extremely busy coordinating his DJs and doing events. Thank you for taking the time to always respond to my needs and concerns. Really appreciate you!

Shav, Tim and the team at Music in Motion delivered in a big way for our July wedding! They were incredibly easy to work with and did an amazing job responding to the crowd throughout our wedding reception and playing the right songs at appropriate times.
Shav even added in a few surprise elements we hadn’t discussed beforehand and played off the crowd in a beautiful way, setting the tone at the start of the reception and during the ceremony, then keeping the party going late into the night.
When the power at our venue went out shortly before our ceremony, Shav kept in constant communication with our venue and day-of wedding coordinator to make sure everything would go seamlessly. Luckily, the power came back and everything went off without a hitch!

DJ Rick and MC Josh delivered an absolutely exceptional experience to my husband and I on our wedding day and we are incredibly grateful to have worked with them. I would most certainly recommend them to other couples planning weddings in the near future. It was apparent to us that we were excited to work with Music in Motion from our initial meetings. We first met with Tim, who demonstrated a deep knowledge and intuition about weddings and music, was very professional and easy to work with. He later linked us up with our DJ Rick & MC Josh, who we also met closer to the wedding to finalize details. They both were very friendly, asked great questions and were genuine about getting to know us as a couple so that they could cater to our personalities and to our taste in music. It was clear at the wedding that they used that knowledge to keep the flow of the wedding moving with their own music selections during transitional periods and the reception. They allowed us to have freedom of making the song requests that we knew absolutely wanted to hear, but also did not require us to get over-involved with the setlist as they were intuitive to our tastes and expertly knew how to read the room and cater to our audience with exceptional timing. Rick & Josh also went above and beyond by helping to keep things on schedule, doing things such as taking videos of our first dance and pictures throughout the party, bringing and maintaining such a positive energy and humor with all of our guests throughout the event, and lastly, taking the time to encourage our 9 year old daughter to perform a Frozen II song for all of the audience to hear, which will be a core memory from our wedding day. We could not have been happier with this team and the work that they did for us. We have also received overwhelming feedback from many of our family & friends that Rick & Josh was the best DJ/MC team that they have ever witnessed at any previous wedding experiences.

Music in Motion was an amazing company to work with throughout the planning process and event day. Tim Hicks was recommended to me by a friend so I booked MiM immediately (a year in advance) and throughout the year, Tim checked in with me multiple times to address any questions, comments or concerns. As we got closer to the date, Tim assigned Jeff Dickson to travel to Milwaukee for our wedding ceremony and reception. In our meeting with Jeff, he was fun, flexible and professional throughout the whole process. He understood on want of a short ceremony and maximized dancing time in our reception. He worked with our requests to create an amazing playlist that kept our guests on the dance floor all night. His transitions between our ceremony, speeches, and dancing were smooth and helped set the tone of the party. I would recommend this company to anybody looking for a fun wedding and beautiful ceremony.

We loved working with Music in Motion! Tim was super helpful with explaining the process and laying out a typical timeline. The booking process was easy, Tim stayed in communication with us periodically throughout the year after booking leading up to our wedding which made me feel at ease, and then JD (the DJ for our wedding) was AMAZING! He was so nice and did an awesome job. I don't think the dance floor was ever empty. We were very happy. We highly recommend them!

MIM provided us with a great wedding atmosphere during both our ceremony and during the reception. Our DJ, JD was extremely professional and completely ran the show by staying in constant communication with my wife and I and all of the vendors. His music selection was perfect and allowed for some great requests from the crowd. I have received a multitude of compliments about the idea to play other people's first dance songs during dinner. I think that may have been the most talked about thing at our wedding and the crowd really seemed to enjoy it. It was a unique and great idea. Thanks again to JD and MIM for the great addition to our wedding!

Kept the dance floor full all night long
AMAZING!!! I don’t even know where to start. My fiancé had very few opinions on the wedding, but one of the things he cared about was the DJ and the music played at the wedding. After “interviewing” a couple of DJ companies we decided to go with Music in Motion, who we thought was a great value for the price. The owner Tim Hicks, checked in with us every couple months during wedding planning offering assistance when needed, and was above and beyond accommodating when we postponed our wedding due to the pandemic. Our DJ, the day of the event, Jeff, was amazing. He listened to all of our song requests and provided a sense of humor and energy to the event. He was able to do this without being cheesy too! One thing that we were completely amazed by was how he was able to mix the songs to keep all generations on the dance floor most of the night! He even added some personal touches by playing “Back in Black” since the Iowa Hawkeyes (the brides alma matter), won their game the night of the wedding, and announcing the celebration of the parents of the groom 40th anniversary the week prior during a slow song. We have received so many compliments already on our DJ and music selections. Thank you for making our special day AMAZING Jeff!

Tim was an amazing DJ to use for our event! We used him for both our ceremony and our reception. He was attentive throughout the entire planning process, helped us with song choices and requests, and even let us make last minute-requests/changes, which I greatly appreciated. Tim was able to keep our dance floor full the entire night, which was one of my main priorities (people having fun!). Tim and Bryan were absolutely amazing to work with. Tim would check in regularly and created a lot of confidence with Claire and I leading up to the wedding. Super nice guy. Packed Dance Floor All Night! Great DJ
I hired Music in Motion for my wedding because I had read so many great reviews. Not only did they have a great price for their DJ package, but they had experience working at my venue before. Our DJ met with us a couple times to plan for our wedding, and he worked really well with our Day of Coordinator to make sure the schedule/music choices were just right. He listened to our "Do not play" and "must play" lists. Our dance floor was packed all night! Highly recommend.

This is going to be a long one. PLEASE READ ALL. If you are looking for a DJ, HIRE TIM. He was the best decision we made in our wedding planning process. When we had originally booked with him 3 years ago, he was super helpful and knowledgeable on something we knew little about. He was very professional and wrote us an email checking in and asking us what we needed throughout the ENTIRE 3 YEARS WE HAD HIM. It made me feel like he truly cared and was excited for our wedding, and he was. Tim is AMAZING as a DJ. To begin the day, he was especially professional and did everything he needed to right away and was prompt and ready. After filling out his planning forms online and being just an email away throughout the entire process, I was so confident in his abilities. He made the ceremony go FLAWLESS without ever meeting him. Then he absolutely KILLED IT during the dinner hours playing perfect music we requested. He made sure to talk to my husband and I throughout the night when he saw we had a chance to make sure it was everything we wanted. He was EXCELLENT at mixing music and EXCELLENT at reading our crowd of people. Our dance floor was filled the ENTIRE night of about 4.5 hours of dancing. People were afraid to leave the floor to use the bathroom because they were afraid of not getting a spot back on the floor or that they would miss a good song. He even created a mix so my brothers and I could slow dance AND make a choreographed dance!!! It was INCREDIBLE. If you are looking for a DJ, BOOK WITH TIM. It will be the BEST decision you will make in your wedding process.✨✨

Spectacular DJ!
Tim Hicks with Music in Motion was GREAT! From the minute he walked in the door he was entertaining our guests. He had our guests on their feet and he never missed a beat! One thing I really appreciated from Tim is that when the timing of speeches clashed with our dinner, Tim took over and communicated with the banquet team on when to serve our food! We are very happy we've hired Music in Motion. The moment we spoke with Tim, we knew we wanted to entrust our wedding event with them. The day of the wedding, we worked with Rick and Kyle. Rick played a vital role in pivoting our wedding plans given current circumstances. On that note, in our eyes, he already delivered above and beyond even before the wedding event in itself. He has such keen eye on details and provided us with loads of meaningful insight, a lot of which are things that we have not considered or even thought about, which helped shape the event beyond what we would have dreamt it to be. Rick was also very accommodating and helpful in finding us a virtual producer that was the one missing piece in realizing our dream wedding prior to speaking with him. The day of the event, he kept us organized and on track. All our requests have been honored and we couldn't be any happier. On top of that, Rick ensured that we are engaging both our in person and virtual guests which we know was tough to accomplish. We had the virtual folks dancing along with us with Rick leading both groups. He constantly engaged our daughters in helping lead the dance which kept them engage throughout reception as well. He even made sure that we were able to eat. The agenda he put together was very well thought of. We wanted to say we made history as we executed this hybrid wedding and we owe a huge part of that success to Rick. He has been our lifeline. We had enormous amount of great feedback from our virtual guests about how much they have enjoyed the evening. Rick and Kyle had everyone dancing - in person or virtual, across all ages. They are true professionals who have mastered their craft and are very passionate about what they do. If we can give them 10 stars, we will. We spoke with Tim throughout most of the planning process. He was amazing at keeping in touch and letting us know he didn’t forget about us. He made us feel like more than just another customer. My wife and I just had our wedding this past December with Tim as our DJ. He was incredibly responsive and helpful through every step of our planning process. My wife and I primarily let Tim handle a majority of the song selection and he truly delivered. The dance floor was packed with people dancing all the way up until the reception ended. I was very cautious about who I chose to DJ my wedding because both families and all our friends love to party, so we wanted to make sure that we set ourselves up for success. Tim. Was. AWESOME. I was actually sick on the wedding day and Tim was so helpful and kind. He made sure we were all in the loop and he kept checking in with me to make sure I was feeling okay and if I wanted to delay something so I could go sit down. Honestly, it felt like he was more of a family friend. With this, he was still an amazing professional. He takes his job very seriously. And his job is to make sure that 1- the schedule is what the bride and groom want, and 2- that everyone has fun. And he was very successful. I cannot thank Tim enough for what he did for us on our day and how amazing of a job he did. If you need a DJ in the area who will pump up your guests and do a seriously awesome job- give Tim a call. Boogie the night away!
We had the chance to see Tim in his element at a friends wedding and we remembered how much fun we had, that we were constantly on the dance floor, and that the night just ran so smoothly! Once we got engaged we were so excited to plan this part of the night and talking with Tim was on the top of our list!
We sat down with Tim and it was just so fun hearing him talk about music, keeping the dance floor going and how he reads a room to get things to stay active and fun! We knew that he had so much knowledge and this was something he loved to do and would help the night be everything we wanted it to be.
Tim encourages no more than about 10 must play songs for the night so he has the ability to add in songs and make sure the guests are enjoying things as well. So we chose to make a spotify playlist of songs we both loved for cocktail hour so during the dancing time Tim wasn’t tied down to all our must play songs. It was a great decision and Tim added great songs to lengthen the time for cocktail hour and it flowed so nicely! He helped make the timing of the night go smoothly from introductions into cake into speeches and first dances!
Once we got into the dancing part of the night that is where Tim's skills shined. His ability to read the room and see where the energy on the dance floor was going really took the party to the next level. By choosing to let Tim run the music for the dancing part of our wedding took so much stress off the planning process and it paid off on our big night. Of course you will have those party animals at your wedding making random song requests. Tim will protect the party and filter through requests in a professional manner. We received so many compliments on our wedding and the one we received the most about was the music! We are so thankful and lucky we had Tim at our big day he really delivered everything and more for us.
There is no need to look any further for a DJ for your wedding or event. Trust Tim and the Music in Motion team to take your event to the next level they truly are the best in the business.

Thank you Music in Motion - it was a wonderful day! Everything was perfect. My husband and I thought Ricky did an awesome job the day of the wedding! I loved the music and had multiple compliments on the variety of songs played. Everyone really enjoyed the reverse anniversary dance, very unique. Even my uncle got up to join. It was a very special night and Music in Motion definitely helped create that party atmosphere. The planning process was clear and concise. Also, I thought it was a really nice that DJ Tim emailed/reached out to us throughout the year leading up to the wedding. It helped create more of a relationship and is something that stands out from all our other vendors.

Amazing DJ!
Tim was absolutely amazing!! We booked Tim off of the reviews that we had read, and they couldn't of been more true. He emailed us throughout the year after booking with him just to "check in." He was super professional and very flexible. On the day of our wedding, he had the crowd on the dance floor the whole night. We received many compliments about how fun our DJ was. Most Lit Dance Floor Ever!
Two months later, we still have friends and family telling us how amazing our dance floor was, and that is all thanks to Tim Hicks! I put together a small list of songs to play, but honestly, it was not necessary at all. Tim read the crowd all night and played the perfect mix of songs to keep our dance floor packed throughout our entire reception. From start to finish, he made the entire process so easy and clear, and helped us with any question we had. I could not recommend him enough!

Choosing Music in Motion as our reception DJ was one of the best choices we made! Tim Hicks was absolutely wonderful to work with. He was super attentive with all of my questions and clarification requests leading up to the big day. Especially when we had a little snafu with a microphone system for our ceremony officiant. Tim was there to solve all problems and make our day amazing. Best DJ Ever!
I hired Tim Hicks with Music in Motion for our wedding on July 27, 2019. Music in Motion was one of the recommended vendors from our venue so I did my research and decided to contact him. I live in California and wasn’t able to meet Tim in person so I emailed him to discuss his DJ packages and what he had to offer. He was very responsive and professional. He answered all of my questions and was very helpful. I decided to hire him and I’m so glad that I did! We planned everything with Tim via email or his website which was very easy to use and then met Tim the night of our wedding. Tim was so friendly and down-to-earth when we met him and was just a super cool guy! I may be biased but I’ve never been to a wedding before where people were dancing ALL night long. Many of us didn’t want to leave at the end of the night because we wanted to continue to let Tim do his work! I definitely danced my heart out that night. The next day, people were coming up to us to tell us what a great job Tim did and how much fun they had at our wedding. Tim did such an awesome job for us and I can’t recommend him highly enough! You can definitely tell that Tim loves what he does and takes great pride in his work.

Wedding DJ
We hired Music in Motion for my daughter's wedding last weekend.We hired them almost a year out from the wedding. From our initial contact with them, they were very professional and always very responsive. The dance floor was packed the entire night and that was our goal. The dance floor was moving all night!
We recently had the pleasure of working with Tim for our wedding at the Starline Factory. He was professional and great to work with through the entire process. He had great attention detail accommodating our special requests and timing edits flawlessly. Most importantly he kept things running on time and the dance floor moving the entire night. Couldnt of chosen a better DJ for our wedding. I had been to two previous weddings where MIM was their DJ and had chosen them for mine also. We had Jimmy and he did awesome! I had written so many notes for him for certain songs, especially our recessional song & he timed it perfectly. We’ll be having MIM again in 2020 for my sisters wedding!

Very Professional and Fun at the Same Time!
We can't say enough great things about Tim Hicks! We booked him fairly early since we had a 2 year engagement and a popular wedding date. He would check in every so often just to see how we were doing or if we had any questions; over a span of a year and a half! Some of our other vendors we didn't hear from until maybe a month before the wedding, which made us nervous. Tim was so fun, followed our strict 'no country music' request even when guests requested country songs. He played the exact type of music we asked for on our preference sheet, yet still had the flexibility to play music that all generations could enjoy. Tim was fantastic at coordinating the bridal party lineup for introductions and giving us the peace of mind to just let him do his thing! We had forgotten to let him know about a fun little 'cake in the face' display, which by not giving him advanced notice, messed with his timeline. He was very professional, quick on his feet and flexible with an announcement for the display on the spot.

I can’t say enough about Tim Hicks with Music in Motion! My husband and I were able to just sit back and relax because Tim had it all covered - to the point where we realized we had nothing to cut our cake with and when my husband went to tell him he could just move to the next song, Tim pulled a butter knife out from behind the DJ booth!! Our guests kept talking about how awesome the music was - and there was definitely a big dance party all the way until the last song. We are so thankful that we chose to go with Music in Motion and would highly recommend them!

Tim was the DJ for our wedding on June 29, 2019 and was fantastic! He was very flexible and reassuring when our venue changed our reception room 2 hours before the start of the wedding. There was a miscommunication with who we thought our DJ was going to be, but it all turned out great. Tim was fantastic with answering all emails very quickly (which was very convenient while wedding planning). Jimmy was our DJ and he was awesome. He was super friendly. He kept people on the dance floor and was very accomodating. When my photographer and videographer were going to leave, he made sure to find me to let me know so we could fit in the parent dances and bouquet toss before they left. I would totally recommend Jimmy and Music in Motion.

Amazing Experience for our Wedding!
I used Ross and Music in Motion for my wedding this past weekend and they did an amazing job! Everyone had such a great time and danced all night long! The website was super easy to navigate and I loved being able to customize all our wedding songs without going back and forth between and million emails. He handles the music, uplighting, spot light and the monogram we had projected on the dance floor. We are BEYOND happy with our experience and would recommend to anyone looking to have a great time! We had Shav as our DJ and he was awesome, our dance floor was packed the entire night, which was important to us, everyone had so much fun and said how good the music was. We were able to bundle in the uplighting and extra sound and they were able to use our wedding colors as the lights. They were very familiar with Boulder Ridge Country Club which made it a lot easier for me, I did not have to tell them anything as he knew what to do already from experience. He went over the timeline with us ahead of time so everyone including, venue, photo, video, and us were on the same page. Everything flowed very smoothly and it was perfect. Shav also did our ceremony music and microphone for the officient. Made it a lot easier to have him take care of everything so we didnt have to worry. Shav was awesome. THANK YOU SHAV!!!!

Best DJ in town!
I hired Music in Motion for my son's Bar Mitzvah. I knew I did not want to use the big entertainment monopoly for the party, as I wanted everything custom and personal. From our first conversation, I knew Ross and his team were exactly what I was looking for. They made our celebration so memorable! He and his team were outstanding, and kept the party going. Tim provided the music for our wedding ceremony and reception at The Onion Pub & Brewery on 9/14/18. From our first conversation was helpful and energetic about the event. He was prompt in responding to questions and the entire process of creating our playlists from start to finish. On the actual day of our wedding Tim was prompt and professional and executed our music perfectly. He kept us on track so that there was plenty of time for our guests to hit the dance floor and did a great job reading the crowd to keep everyone on the dance floor! You won't regret it
Music in Motion was the best decision we made for our wedding day. From the beginning of planning until wedding day, they were flexible and fabulous. Tim let us "crash" a wedding to see Ricky live and in action. Shout out to that Bride and Groom! They even took the time to assure us, we would not regret booking Music in Motion... and they are right. Ricky helped us plan the music for our evening from start to finish. He even took on our last minute song changes with no hesitation. He even suggested we get the crowd dancing with us before dinner. We thought it was crazy, but loved the idea of it being different than the norm. It paid off big time! Our family and friends continue to talk about that moment along with how they never wanted to leave the dance floor all night along! Tim was sincerely a pleasure to work with! He checked in throughout the year prior to the wedding, and was incredibly timely in his responses. He was flexible and efficient on the wedding day, sounded great, got everyone up and going, and respected the volume level when needed. Planning forms online were easy to use, and if he didn't have it, he made it super easy to obtain. DJ's always make me nervous, I don't know that I would use one outside of Tim again...couldn't thank him enough!
